Jade x reader shorter then him
Consider this a Drabble of sorts~
The eel is honestly too tall. He loses kneecap privileges.
Height is a really useful thing, sometimes.
Makes it easier to be seen in a crowd. Jade stands tall, watching other people’s heads bob from under him. People give him a wide berth. Scuttling like mice below him.
Pitter patter. Pitter patter.
Jade scours the crowd, slow blinks. His gaze scanning over the sea of students, as if he was searching for something.
Or someone.
A jab in his waist. Grunting, Jade glanced downwards. You. It was you. He stopped down a little, meeting your eyes.
Jade was aware how strained your neck could be, just how tiring having a simple conversation with him could be. That’s why he took extra care to find a seat to sit with you, trying to keep your gaze at eye level with him.
It’s new for him. Jade never bothered to get down to the level of others. He likes to look down on them. Stare them down. Intimidate them enough so that they quaver, tremble in their shoes.
But as amusing as those reactions are, Jade finds more comfort in the exchange of words with you. Your smile… well… it makes him wonder…
If he was shorter, could he hold you comfortably? Could you throw your arms around him without a struggle? Could you love him dear?
Well, those were things to think about.

It’s Adam Milligan Week, people!!! Have a little something. :D
Day One: pre-series, black and white
Back in the days, before everything – before the cage, before Michael, before dying – Adam had thought that things were simple. That things were either black or white. People were either good or bad.
On the playground, there were bullies and there were victims. In the shows he watched, there were the good guys and the bad guys. In church, they talked of angels and demons, one born of the light and the other from darkness, one good and one bad.
By now, Adam had figured out that it was more complicated. Sometimes, people who were trying to do the right thing failed, and hurt others. Sometimes, people successfully stopped the world from ending but didn't – couldn't, wouldn't – save their own brother. Sometimes, angels were dicks and tortured you.
Other times, angels were dicks but, over the centuries, became your best friend.
And sometimes – always, apparently – God was a huge bitch. The Light sucked, and The Darkness was actually nicer (even though she had some beef with Michael over the whole 'locking her away back at the beginning of time' thing.)
Since Adam had met Michael, he'd started seeing in far more colours – both metaphorically and literally. Angels saw a lot more than humans. One of those aspects was that they could differentiate a lot more nuances on the colour spectrum.
So far, Adam had counted 312 shades of red alone. He'd probably overlooked a bunch, though. Despite sharing a body with one, Adam wasn't an archangel and didn't have the capacity to process information in the same way as one. So Michael filtered down what he saw for Adam to make sure his mind didn't get too overwhelmed.
So maybe, in the end, Adam was still seeing in black and white, comparatively.
But that was alright. Just as Adam was Michael's guide for all things human, Michael told him (and let him see) when Adam was missing anything cool.
Like right now.
“Look,” Michael was saying, tugging lightly on Adam's mind to make him turn in the right direction. “The aurora.”
Adam gasped. He'd never seen the Northern Lights with his own eyes before, only recordings on TV. So maybe it was just the difference of seeing it live that made it so breathtakingly beautiful.
But probably, Adam thought, it was the fact that he was seeing it with Michael by his side, his grace shining extra bright as if to compete with the spectacle above.
Which would have been silly, of course. Even with all the new ones he was learning about every day, Adam's favourite colour was still, and would remain, the colour of Michael's grace.

I want to see you, one more time.
it's CRAZY how wonderful and similar the plot/central relationships are within my two favorite series, I absolutely need other people to get this galaxy brain moment (please watch Madoka Magica: Rebellion and Fionna and Cake if you haven't yet, it's life-changing):
loving relationship is tragically doomed, person A's love for their s/o makes them the most important person in their respective universes
s/o becomes deity after using wishmaking, performs universe-bending sacrifice to save, protect, and end the suffering of person A
despite person A's freedom, they still suffer. The only thing more miserable than living their old fate is living in a universe where their s/o doesn't exist at all
s/o and person A "meet" again in a false world created from person A's mind and heart (no idea how it'll play out in F&C, I know that bus stop scene will destroy me)
person A becomes willing to sentence themself to eternal misery/entrapment to relieve others around them of the ""burden"" that is them and their grief
considering how the madoka movie ends (homura paralleling madoka's sacrifice but instead, becoming an Evil Deity™️ and reforming the universe so she can live out her desire of existing in peace with madoka + friends, I'm summarizing btw the actual ending is VERY crazy) I have NO idea how F&C will carry out simon's arc. either way I'm prepared to cry very hard. Give them their deceased god gfs back!!! I need my favorite cosmically separated couples to be together happily <3
