Okay last one last one, promise, but okay, showing how silly superhero movies are and how it’s just a bunch of people in Halloween costumes (as one reviewer praised Love and Thunder) is actually such a reductive fucking take?

Like??? Have y’all watched old superhero movies? They never took themselves seriously. (Okay some did and those were the good ones!) That’s why those particular movies sucked! They couldn’t commit to the idea of superheroes in the real world.

The beauty and originality of Marvel used to be that it felt like our world but what if Superheroes were real. They felt grounded yet magical!

“magic is just science we don't understand” I live and breathe that quote from the OG Jane Foster. I love it. It makes me dream again in a world that’s complete shit!

There’s nothing in current MCU that offers that. It’s just become the same boring superhero movies of the past. Unrealistic. Formulaic. And the worst part are the heroes that aren’t worthy of their hero title.

What a sad opportunity squandered by greed once again.

He apologised. For the first time ever the man who has Never Done Anything Wrong has apologised, and I don't care. It feels like I should, like this is something I've been wanting all my life, a "sorry for putting you through that bullshit, I should never have abused you", like one needs an apology to heal, but I cannot find it in myself to care about this, or give him the grace he asks for.

"I'm sorry you had to be around that." He says, as if I'm the victim in this scenario. "I hate that you were there to hold me accountable." is what I hear. "I hate you for denying me the possibility to deny anything happened." I don't care.

I was an adult this time around and I know what kind of manchild he is. I didn't care about the shouting and the placing of blame and the later hatred hurled my way, I didn't care when he said I'm the source of all evil, because this time I was an adult. I'm still angry, though, because there was a child.

I'm angry on behalf of the literal twelve year old who loves him still and has not yet got the experience to know he's a piece of work, who is not able to realise why people tell her it's not her fault. She doesn't understand. She just gets to fear for her life, and get hurt because holier-than-thou-daddy has had a bad day because he saw that the people he tried so hard to control, he *abused* to control, are healing and growing and making their own way in life seperate from him. She only gets to walk on eggshells and hear him shout in her ear about how the whole world is evil and he has never done anything wrong, while bodily dragging her through the room and threatening to hit her and kill himself. I'm angry on behalf of the child who doesn't yet understand this is behaviour unfit for an adult, and that she's not here to keep him happy and safe. I'm angry on behalf of the little girl he almost killed so many years ago, who believed the very same.

So now he calls me, all-self pitying "Why can't I reach you, I wanted to do this in person"- he called once while I was literally biking home, "I'm sorry for what happened, I am very hurt because you didn't come by for a while but I shouldn't have thrown it in your face like that" and all it does is make me angry. I don't need his apologies, she does.

Tell your fucking daughter you're sorry, and try to mean it.
