Team Emperor Headcanons

Disclaimer: some of these headcanons may either slightly or heavily contradict with the canon (and your headcanons), that’s why it’s important to highlight that these are just headcanons and do not affect canon whatsoever. These headcanons are also likely to change as the story progresses or if I suddenly decide one day that I don’t like one of these headcanons and decide to change it. This post is likely due to change in general because I often come up with more random headcanons all the time so be aware

(Just so you know, there has been edits to this post. And there likely will be plenty more to come! So if you see some differences since you last read this post, now you know why)

Emperor

His real name is King. His full name is King Enperry.

Pan and polyamorous. Also a trans masc non-binary, only going by he/him pronouns. Many people don’t even notice he’s nonbinary until he tells you himself.

Wasian—his mother was Japanese ethnic and his father was American ethnic. He gets his eyes from his mum and his english accent from his father.

He and Prince are Pearl’s cousins. They were the first people she told about her relationship with Marina. They both still keep in touch with the musical pair to this day.

He and Prince were well known for being fashion models for the most popular clothing lines, most often Enperry. Emperor would randomly sign himself and Prince—sometimes even Pacer and Jr—up for modeling roles and they would get chosen more often than not. Now, Emperor only signs up for modeling sparingly, while Prince still partakes in it often.

Owns a pretty nice Road King motorcycle that he got for his 20th birthday. Broom broom.

His hands are as cold as the Himalayas. Although, they got warmer when he started working at the Crust Bucket.

He’s actually a pretty good singer and can play the piano well. Pearl sometimes jokes about him hitching along with her and Marina as another vocalist and piano player—or he plays it off as a joke while Pearl is actually serious about the suggestion.

He only plays the piano when he desperately wants to express emotion, which is probably why his playing always sounds so poetic and full of feeling.

He only sings when he’s alone to himself, but if he finds out that he is in fact not alone then he’s gonna shut his mouth soooo fast. If he’s full of alcohol, then he’s probably gonna be the first one to get up on the karaoke stage and bust it out Brendon Urie style.

I like to think he’s a real flirt. He likes to smile and wink, give some warm bedroom eyes, or just casually compliment random people’s appearance sometimes, mostly if he’s already met them before. He kinda just finds it fun to do because he knows he’s got that charm. But Emperor ESPECIALLY loves to do it to N-Pacer or Eging jr because it always flusters them so much and he loves them. (Prince is sick of it every time his brother does it)

One time Emperor tried playfully flirting with Specs, and the poor guy got so confused as to why he was doing it, but it also blossomed into a short lasting crush lmao

After a while of when he started working with Crusty Sean, he discovered a newfound passion in cooking and culinary. His cooking skills in general also began to improve significantly, impressing his friends and family. Emperor began dreaming of someday opening up a lavish restaurant of his own in Inkopolis.

He’s keeping watch over the Crust Bucket in the square while Crusty Sean is on his trip, with Goggles sometimes coming over to help him out. He’s tried to experiment with some of the foods before, but not without having taste testers like his brother, N Pacer and Eging Jr give him input first before putting it on the menu.

His favorite type of food would have to be spicy food; bonus if it’s sweet n spicy. He really enjoys Army’s curry. Yum yum.👌🏻

He has a large crown made of real gold hiding somewhere in his closet, passed down to him by his mother.

When he's sleeping, he's gonna grab for something. Whether it be a pillow, a plushie, or whatever misfortunate soul snoozing next to him. He will grab onto them and wrap around them like a snake and just cuddle with them until he wakes up. His hold is strong, too, so good luck getting to the restroom without waking him up.

He moved out of his parents’ mansion when he was 21 and decided to move into a cozy cottage with N Pacer and Squidkid Jr on the edge of Inkopolis in a rural estate. Ever since he moved, he kept reminding Prince that his doors were always open if he wanted to come join him. While his little brother was grateful, he declined the offer every time.

Born in a very rich family who owned half of the Enperry corporation alongside Pearl’s parents. His mother was incredibly strict and always expected the best out of him. She put him on such a high pedestal since the day he hatched and was determined to make sure he lived his legacy up to her standards in terms of turf war and inheriting the Enperry company, since Pearl was focusing on her career in music with Marina. Emperor was typically able to meet her expectations, and her constant praise only strengthened his own ego, making him spoiled, arrogant and cocky.

His father was a lot more laid back in raising him and Prinz. While Emperor was still arrogant, his father still tried to teach him the importance of generosity and doing good for others, even though it often fell on deaf ears—save for Prince. He believed that Emperor deserved to follow his own passion and decide his own future himself, and was very proud when he found out Emperor got a job at the Crust Bucket, in contrast to his mother, who was disgusted. His father was very upset with how Emperor’s mother, Elaine, decided to raise him and Prinz, but she often made it seem like his decision never mattered.

Emperor’s parents’ marriage was arranged. They were never truly in love. They don’t hate each other, but they disagree on multiple things and more often than not have they so heavily desired in divorcing each other. They tried to make it work at first, but they just weren’t meant to be. The father, Topaz, was arranged to marry Elaine because they were both in rich families, and those families wanted to keep within the bounds of a high social status and inherit large companies for more money.

His parents did eventually get divorced. When Emperor had begun to see through his mother’s bullshit and moved out, his parents both finally decided to divorce and move on with their lives. While his father and Prince kept in touch with him, his mother stopped talking to him altogether, seemingly cutting all ties with him after he admitted he didn’t want to be head of Enperry and wanted to pursue his own career choice in culinary.

Despite his mother’s neglect toward Prince, Emperor often looked out for his little brother somewhat as they up grew together, as requested by his father. Even if he sarcastically complimented and dismissed Prince typically, he really did care for him. After after his defeat against Team Blue, he started to make it more abundantly clear how much he cared for Prince, and they grew significantly closer with each other and started acting more like brothers.

He’s in a poly relationship with Squidkid Jr and N Pacer. He knew Jr the longest, as they’re childhood friends and met through their fathers being close friends. He met N-Pacer during high school years and he and Jr immediately had major crushes on her, and before long they began mentoring her in turf war and then used her to replace their old, snarky teammate who was assigned to the team by Emperor’s mother.

His mother DEFINETELY did not like N-Pacer when they first met, especially when it seemed obvious that Emperor had the hots for her. She didn't think N-Pacer was anything but worthy of ever having her son's hand in marriage. She tried to hook Emperor up with a bunch of other rich girls, some even boys, even though she really wanted grandkids. Emperor's father thought she was a nice girl and felt so sympathetic when he heard about her struggling home life.

His mother and father were quite shocked when Emperor admitted he and Eging Jr were also a thing, while Papa Eging was quite happy for them. He said something to Eging Jr like "I'm actually glad you chose him of all people, because that assures me that you'll have someone to look out for ya!" He was also very sweet towards N-Pacer when he met her too.

He always makes sure to keep in touch with Blue Team or asks about them whenever he talks with Prince. He and Prince used to invite Specs to family dinners whenever they could, but their mother didn’t allow him to come until she found out how popular and skill his team was and let him come just because he seemed worthy of the Enperrys’ presence.

Prince

His real name is Prinz (like in the official English translation)

Kinda on the aroace spectrum, but tends to show signs of the gay

FUCK IT HE TRANSMASC 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️ When he came out to his brother he was like “Oh, ok, I guess I have a brother then.” Mans ain’t transphobic ✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻

Wasian, just like Emperor. He looks just like his father while his voice sounds eerily similar to his mother.

He was somewhat reluctant when Laceless asked him out, as he was worried it would negatively affect their relationship as mentor and apprentice on the battlefield. (Also because he wasn’t really enthusiastic about getting into a relationship.) When he asked his cousin and brother for advice, they told him to just go for it and find out where it goes, and it’s gone pretty good ever since. His father knows but his mother doesn’t, as he’s worried how she’ll react to him being in a relationship with a “commoner”. Even after all this time, he’s still never told her.

When Emperor moved out with N Pacer and Jr, Prince was determined to build his own team himself. He invited Splat Jr (splattershot jr) onto the team and began to teach him everything he knew. He also invited Lilith to join his team for a little while, and she displayed such spectacular skills so they wanted to keep her around, but she eventually left to start her own group, winding up somewhere in Splatsville—so the fourth role is open for tryouts!Mitsuami eventually joined the team upon becoming more popular within both Splatsville and Inkopolis after the Splatsville Turf cup. He calls his new team “Team Prince” and aims to increase their skills and discover techniques in both turf war and ranked battles. He is very proud of his team. :)

Since Emperor decided to decline the opportunity in inheriting the Enperry corporation, Prinz took the offer instead. Since then, his mother began to show him more attention and give him more of her approval, but he only found her behavior insulting because he knew she was only acting like that to him because Emperor didn’t want to own the company like their mother previously expected, so she was trying to butter him up and get on his good side in hopes of getting some of that dough.

His mother, Elaine, was mostly neglectful during his upbringing. He often grew jealous of Emperor for the constant attention and praise he got while nothing Prince did ever seemed to make her to bat an eye to him. Plus, Emperor often didn't take him as seriously as he did later on, and to this day it still bothers him a little bit. There’s also the inner-family controversy about her being upset that he “decided to transition” because she wanted a daughter apparently… Not that she treated Prince with anymore respect before he came out 😑. His father and Pearl supported him all they could, while his aunt, uncle, and even his dad’s friend, the original Squidkid and his wife resorted to try to spoil him with nice gifts. They all mean a lot to him.

When he and his dad moved out of the mansion and away from his mother, Prince began to discover his newfound mischievous nature and began to find ways to (harmlessly) prank his friends and his dad. They all get a good laugh out of each other at the end.

He looks up to Squidkid Jr and N-Pacer as older siblings. He also sees the original Squidkid and his wife as second uncle and aunt figures, since they spent a lot of time around each other’s families since Prince was little.

Ngl I think he would be a theater kid, or have a fascination for musicals at least. He likes to dance to their genre of music because he finds them ethereally unique. He can act a little bit—he tries his best—but he could never be able to tell a lie to someone’s face (he’s tried)

I think he’d also have a fascination for true crime and mystery in general—mostly murder mystery or just mature mystery kind of stuff. Not because of the horror at the death and all the suspense, but he finds the detective’s process of looking for clues and coming up with theories ti be quite intriguing. At one point he was even thinking about becoming a detective himself, but then he decided to take over the his family company instead, so his detective dream had to be shelved…. For another day, perhaps.

After the King Cup turf war, he became close friends and hangs out with all of the S4. Aloha takes him out for milkshakes and shopping, Prince gives Army samples from Emperor’s food experiments, Mask takes him to the arcade, and Prince and his team like to train with Skull and his team.

He’s more closed off towards strangers and new people, but once he gets to know them, he likes to give and get hugs. He, Bobble and Goggles are hugger extraordinaires.

Became close friends with Blue Team after the king cup arc, especially with Specs after some time. Sometimes both teams will come to share battle strategy meetings and offer very informative suggestions and advice. They also train together a lot.

He also tried to help hype up Specs in asking out Headphones when word got out that they both had a crush on each other.

He may have got a growth spurt, but he was a late bloomer when it came to his voice. Laceless ended up getting the deeper voice treatment before he did, and Prince spent a good while sounding younger than him.

Ever since he became team leader, many people began complimenting him for his leadership skills, especially Emperor, which at the time was surprising. It made him feel so happy and seen, and it chewed away any he self-consciousness he had about himself.

He doesn't snore, but he drools in his sleep because he sleeps with his mouth open. He also sometimes mutters in his sleep.

Squidkid/Eging Jr

Real name is Alonzo Jr (his father’s name is Alonzo)

Bi man, polyamorous too

Bit of a spoiled rich kid, due to growing up in a rather privileged, lavish household. Now he’s mostly just a sporty snob who enjoys barbecues.

You’d never hear anyone else scream at a live sports game on tv or in person as loud as he does. Coming from a father who’s very well known in sports, he takes that kind of stuff a little too seriously.

He’s smarter than many people think. Even if it weren’t for his great skills in sports, he’d still get accepted into a good college based on his straight A grades, ESPECIALLY in his gym classes. Just like his daddy, he was the best basketball player in his entire school. He tutored Emperor and Prince a lot when they struggled with homework or had to study for tests.

He’d also be a good gym teacher. A little hardcore, but he loves teaching and coaching others and strives to see his students do their best. He volunteered as a substitute teacher at an elementary school a few times, and let's just say, those kids did not get a day off from the track. Though, they did think he was a whole lot of fun, especially when they were playing basketball with him during recess.

When he and N Pacer first met, he put her through some grueling training, but it only escalated slowly as it went on. He may have had a big ol’ crush on her, but he wasn’t gonna allow that to make him let up on her. Both because their team was striving to be the best and they needed N-Pacer to learn skills and get stronger as soon as she could, and also because they wanted that asshole in their group that was appointed by Emperor’s mom OUT as soon as possible. He was so proud when Pacer finally “graduated” from his training.

Took up learning some martial arts like Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and kickboxing as a hobby. He likes to spar with Army and Goggles every so often, and teach Emperor, N-Pacer and Prince some moves. He even spared with Lilith once, and BOY did she floor him. It actually made him very excited to spare again while she was like '👁️👁️'.

Does not know how to cook or bake. He wasn’t as bad as Emperor during his first time learning how to cook, but his skills are… Just not that good. The best he can do is microwave foods or just putting stuff straight in the oven. Even then, he nearly burnt both his parents' house and the cottage down because he forgot to turn the oven off TWO TIMES. He's banned from the kitchen, banished! Bro cannot cook for shit. Even after Pacer and Emperor tried teaching him, he's hopeless. Never let him near Gordon Ramsay lest you want him to get eviscerated.

When he, Emperor and Pacer moved into the cottage, he installed his own a little basket court in the backyard to play basketball. Sometimes he plays by himself, or he’ll invite some buddies like the S4, X Bloods, Prince’s team or team Blue to come over and play.

He likes to hang around the S4 along with Prince, and he loves to have them over for when they have barbecues—all cooked by Emperor.

He and Aloha are party planner extraordinaires. They're also great friends.

Animals don't like him for some reason. Pigeons and other birds harass him, sea slug pets growl and try to nip at him, and Judd and Lil Judd give him the stink eye whenever he's around. It makes him very sad (HE JUST WANTS TO BE FRIENDS MAN).

He snores so loud it's annoying. CLOSE YOUR DAMN MOUTH, BOY.

N-Pacer

Her real name is Nahla.

Omni with a preference leaning towards women, yet she scored two fellas.

Been the second shortest in the group for a long time, until Prinz suddenly got a growth spurt out of nowhere, then she became the smallest. Do not let that make you underestimate her; she will jump on you like a spider monkey if so desired.

Got a bit of chub, also mixed with some muscle due to training. Sometimes she likes to pick up Eging Jr and Emperor when they least expect it.

Loves gossiping with Headphones during their tea parties...

Pacer: “I’m not so much into drama, honestly- “

Headphones: “did you hear what Forge said to Asymmetry the other day?”

Pacer: “NOW POUR THE TEA”

She also had a part in helping Headphones hook up with Specs. (She wants to be the maid of honor at the wedding--sorry girl, it's gonna be Bobble)

When she gets mad or upset, she becomes non-verbal and refuses to speak until she feels better about. Until then, she's gonna just glare at you know to back off because she's not in the mood.

She used to wear glasses (full moon glasses to be exact; they used to be her father’s) until she started training with Emperor and Jr. She was worried her glasses would distract her so they bought her some contacts.

Her original hair color used to be light pink. There’s still a little bit of bright pink in the tips of her hair.

Clamumbian (Columbian) nationality. She can speak fluent Splatish (Spanish), but she mostly does so around her family. One time she heard Skull speaking Splatish and they ended up having an entire conversation.

She became part of the charger group, consisting of Headphones, Half-Rim, and Skull.

N Pacer grew up in an impoverished family household. Her mother couldn’t work due to a disability and her father’s job did just enough to pay the bills.

She has a little brother and a baby sister whom she has to babysit sometimes due to her father being at work and her mother busy with tedious, out of the house chores. Thankfully, her brother is well behaved enough, at least in the house.

Her father is a gentle man, more so a doormat really. Meanwhile, her mother is TERRIFYING and also very protective of Pacer. She slips that chancla off her foot like she’s unsheathing a sword. However, her mother can be a cool woman once you get to know her.

Her mother did not like the idea of her daughter hanging around a pair of over popular, stuck-up snobs from rich families, much less dating them. She was worried that they would take advantage of her poor little daughter and manipulate her into abandoning her family—which is her greatest fear.

Her mother and Emperor's mother absolutely fist fought each other before, while Squidkid Jr's mom watched, cheering "Fight! Fight! Fight!"

N-Pacer's mom won. Couple days later that's when Emperor moved out and his parents got divorced. 😂

Shes actually knows a lot about science. When she spent free time watching tv, it would usually be on a science documentary/informational channel because they didn’t have a wide range of options at the time. She’ll get into an entire rant about plate tectonics and organism evolution and end up baffling everyone at the tea party (while they’re still listening intently with some interest 😶☕️)

She used to be really unconfident with the charger, because when she first started using it, she wasn't that good at it. But then she was introduced to the splatterscope and then she ruled the stage like the queen she is.

She loves decorating for Halloween and Christmas. She's a total holiday fanatic. She also loves dressing in warm, comfy clothes and drinking her favorite tea or coffee during Fall and Winter, her two favorite seasons.

She became Emperor's cooking buddy when he started getting interested in culinary. She showed him how to make all of her well known family dishes and some of her personal favorites dishes. He likes to surprise her with her favorite foods sometimes cuz he's a nasty heterosexuaaaaaaal /j (He's pan remember?).

She also likes to paint. She wasn't as invested in it at first, but when they all moved into the cottage together, she started painting more during her free time. She originally intended to sell them for money to help support her parents, but Emperor and Eging Jr get too attached to her artwork and choose to hang up plenty of what she makes in the house or just give her canvases to her parents to admire. It flusters her so much.

She's always LOVED jewelry, even when her parents could never afford any due to their economic situation. But when she met Emperor, he and his cousin, Pearl, poured so many jewelry gifts onto her like a waterfall, gold rings, bracelets, diamond necklaces with matching earrings, even little tiaras and everything. It made her so happy like she was kicking her feet and giggling girly giggles. She is so adorable I love her.

She likes dream catchers. She used to ask her parents for one every Christmas or on her birthday, and they always did what they could to get her one that didn't fall apart in a matter of days. When she got older and moved out, one Christmas she bought a giant, expensive dream catcher for her parents and some for her little siblings and they all put it right over their beds. (Me out here writing Christmas family fluff on a Friday afternoon)

N-Pacer has the most ridiculous, loudest laugh you'll ever hear. It's a deep belly laugh, and it sounds so funny. You'll only hear it when she's either drunk or in genuine hysterics because it's considered her true laugh, she tries to hide it otherwise because she's embarrassed of it.

She used to not have any friends except for one snooty narcissist before she became part of team Emperor. When she did, she was expecting to gain a lot more friends due to her popularity, but as it turns out she went from "not being in anyone's league" to "no one being in her league." She gained too much social power and it made her a little sad. At least she still had her team, and she made more friends later on, so that's a win.

As author Stephen King said, “sooner or later, everything old is new again.” This holds true here, too. Cooking with cast iron is hot again (no pun intended). Displays of the cookware, and magazines and cookbooks devoted to this style of cooking, are plentiful.

If there is only one book you want to have on the topic, “Cook It In Cast Iron: Kitchen-Tested Recipes from the One Pan That Does it All,” by the editors at America’s Test Kitchen (2015, $29.95) is the one. Why This Recipe Works: Baked Brie topped with jam or fruit—we like dried apricots and honey—is a popular party snack, and for good reason. When the cheese is warmed, it magically transforms into a rich, dippable concoction. Baking the cheese in a cast-iron skillet seemed like a no-brainer; since the skillet holds onto heat so well, it would keep the cheese in the ideal luscious, fluid state longer than any other pan. For sweet and creamy flavor in every bite, we reengineered the traditional whole wheel of baked Brie by trimming off the rind (which doesn’t melt that well) and slicing the cheese into cubes. The result? Our honey-apricot mixture was evenly distributed throughout the dish, not just spooned on top. We finished the dish with an extra drizzle of honey and some minced chives to reinforce the sweet-savory flavor profile. Be sure to use a firm, fairly unripe Brie for this recipe. Serve with crackers or Melba toast.

¼ cup dried apricots, chopped

¼ cup honey

1 teaspoon minced fresh rosemary

¼ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon pepper

2 (8-ounce) wheels firm Brie cheese, rind removed, cheese cut into 1-inch pieces

1 tablespoon minced fresh chives

Adjust oven rack to middle position and heat oven to 400 degrees. Microwave apricots, 2 tablespoons honey, rosemary, salt, and pepper in medium bowl until apricots are softened, and mixture is fragrant, about 1 minute, stirring halfway through microwaving. Add Brie and toss to combine.

Transfer mixture to 10-inch cast-iron skillet and bake until cheese is melted, 10 to 15 minutes. Drizzle with remaining 2 tablespoons honey and sprinkle with chives. Serve. Serves 8 to 10.

Why This Recipe Works: Frittatas are similar to omelets but much easier to make: All ingredients are combined at once, so you need much less hands-on time during cooking. For a perfect, tender frittata packed with flavor, we started with 10 large eggs mixed with half-and-half. The water in the dairy helped create steam so the eggs puffed up, and the fat kept the frittata tender. We used the microwave to quickly wilt fresh spinach and then drained it to keep the frittata from becoming waterlogged. Feta cheese and oregano added great savory flavor. Actively stirring and scraping the egg mixture during cooking kept the eggs from becoming tough and ensured quicker cooking. Shaking the skillet helped the eggs distribute properly, and cooking the frittata on the stovetop created some nice browning on the bottom. We then transferred the skillet to the broiler, where the high heat helped the frittata puff a little more and set without overcooking the bottom. The cast iron was perfectly at home under the broiler, unlike nonstick pans with plastic handles and coatings that shouldn’t be exposed to intense heat. Once we moved the skillet from the broiler to a wire rack, the residual heat from the cast iron helped the frittata finish cooking.

11 ounces (11 cups) baby spinach

10 large eggs

3 tablespoons half-and-half

Salt and pepper

3 ounces feta cheese, crumbled (¾ cup)

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 onion, chopped fine

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 teaspoon minced fresh oregano or ¼ teaspoon dried

Adjust oven rack 6 inches from broiler element and heat broiler. Microwave spinach and ½ cup water in large bowl, covered, until spinach is wilted and decreased in volume by half, about 4 minutes. Remove bowl from microwave and keep covered for 1 minute. Carefully remove cover, allowing steam to escape away from you, and transfer spinach to colander set in sink. Using back of rubber spatula, gently press spinach against colander to release excess liquid. Transfer spinach to cutting board and chop coarse. Return spinach to colander and press second time.

Using fork, beat eggs, half-and-half, 3/4teaspoon salt, and 1/2teaspoon pepper in bowl until thoroughly combined and mixture is pure yellow; do not overbeat. Stir in ½ cup feta.

Heat 10-inch cast-iron skillet over medium heat for 3 minutes. Add oil and heat until shimmering. Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in garlic and oregano and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Stir in spinach and cook until uniformly wilted and glossy, about 2 minutes.

Add egg mixture and, using heat-resistant rubber spatula, constantly and firmly scrape along bottom and sides of skillet until eggs form large curds and spatula leaves trail on bottom of skillet but eggs are still moist, 1 to 2 minutes. Shake skillet to distribute eggs evenly. Sprinkle with remaining ¼ cup feta and gently press into eggs with spatula.

Transfer skillet to oven and broil until center of frittata is puffed and surface is just beginning to brown, 3 to 5 minutes; when cut into with paring knife, eggs should be slightly wet and runny.

Using potholders, transfer skillet to wire rack and let frittata rest for 5 minutes. Being careful of hot skillet handle, run spatula around edge of skillet to loosen frittata, then slide frittata out of skillet onto cutting board. Cut frittata into wedges and serve warm or at room temperature. Serves 4 to 6.

That night was a troubled night for Caesar.

As a living clay figure, he was unbothered by human needs, like food, water or air. The sole exception was sleep-- he never felt physically tired, but his mind demanded rest, and even he needed some shut-eye to keep his thoughts in check.

Except tonight, sleep refused to visit him.

Caesar was troubled by the revelation of his identity. Was he once a living man? Was he really Anthonio Zeppeli returned from the dead? Caesar didn't want to believe it. He couldn't quite grasp the reality of his rebirth as a work of art.

Yet, at the same time, he felt there was no other possible explanation.

The night dragged on, slowly and arduously, and all Caesar could do was watch the wall clock slowly tick along, and see the progression of the moon across the night sky from outside the window, little standards of change that reminded Caesar of the passage of time.

Eventually, his eyes grew too heavy, and soon his thoughts calmed down as he began to dream.

Where am I, he thought to himself, as he wiped his forehead with back of his hand.

Caesar paused.

Hand?

He looked down. He indeed had a hand.

And arms, and legs, and a body.

Caesar looked around. He realized he was in front of some kind of building, adorned with gothic-style structures on its top. He had been sitting directly in its shade, clad in dusty overalls and a dark shirt underneath.

"Anthonio!" yelled a voice. "Quit sitting around and get your job done!"

Caesar tried to stand up, uncertainly, as he no longer quite remembered what it was like having arms and legs. They felt strange, almost wrong, like parts of his body that shouldn't be.

"Alright, alright," Caesar told the unseen voice. "What do you want me to do?"

"Weren't you supposed to be working on your mural?" it said, and Caesar, looking up, saw a ladder leaned up against the wall.

He saw the mural, an unfinished sculpted work of a dove in flight, with above it a large, stone crucifix. This building seemed to have had once been a cathedral but was converted into a hotel and attraction, while still keeping its original visual style.

"You better get this job done soon if you want to get paid," complained the unseen voice, irately.

"I'm onto it!" Caesar yelled back. He ascended the ladder, tentatively and uneasily due to his newfound limbs, toward the top where his-- no, Anthonio's-- mural sat unfinished.

Or maybe he was Anthonio.

Caesar reached the top, and pulled out a chisel from a belt in his overralls. He didn't remember quite how to use it. Hell, he didn't even know how to use his hands.

"Maybe like this?" he mumbled to himself, chipping away at the part of the mural that was the dove's head. He struck the stone etching.

And then suddenly, it began to crack.

"Shit!" was all Caesar could cry out as the entire mural began to break apart, the elegant avian form on the mural suddenly tearing itself apart and crumbling as it did so. The entire front of the hotel began to crack.

"Anthonio!" cried the disembodied voice again.

Suddenly, Caesar felt himself falling.

He was toppling backwards over the ladder, falling fourty, fifty feet, down onto the hard, solid pavement below.

And as he looked up, the last thing he saw was the dark silhouette of a crucifix, descending upon him as it blotted out the sunlight

He felt a surge of agonizing pain, and then nothingness.

Caesar's eyes snapped open in a panic.

He was going to die.

No, he was already dead.

Caesar panicked for a moment at the realization that he couldn't feel anything below his neck. His body was gone.

And then he remembered: he didn't have a body.

Caesar looked around. He was in Joseph's room again, sitting by the tabletop. It was still nighttime, and Joseph lay snoring loudly on the bed, clad only in shorts.

Caesar sighed. It was all just a dream.

"Joseph?" he said. "Joseph..."

"Hnghhh..." groaned the artist, his eyes flickering and fluttering open. "It's still dark, Caesar. Go back to sleep."

"I can't, Jojo. I can't sleep." he said.

Rubbing his eyes, Joseph sat up in his bed and stretched out. "What's the matter, Cae? Had too much coffee before bed?" Joseph joked, knowing all too well the bust's reaction to Joseph bringing up his inability to drink or eat.

But today, the clay being had no power for snarky bantering.

"I'm just...having bad dreams lately." Caesar said sadly.

"About what?" Joseph asked.

Caesar sighed, a long, heavy sigh of grief.

"Do you really think I am Anthonio Zeppeli's soul imprisoned in a clay figure?" he said.

Joseph reached out to Caesar's shoulder, as if to hold his hand, had he had any.

"I wouldn't say imprisoned," Joseph said. "If it's true, as Suzi had said, I think you were given a second chance."

"A second chance at what? Anthonio had been a successful artist, and all I am is a clay head, useful for nothing," he lamented.

Joseph hugged his creation. "You're a living miracle, Caesar. You're a work of art with a soul, in more ways than one. You've made my life better, and a bit more colorful, since you came, and I think that's purpose enough."

"Plus, you make a great alarm clock," Joseph added jokingly. The last crack was enough to force a smile onto Caesar's distraught face.

Joseph yawned. "And speaking of clocks, it's just 2 AM," Joseph hummed. "I ought to be getting back to bed."

"Can I sleep beside you?" Caesar asked.

Joseph paused at the strange request. "Sleep beside me?" he asked.

"I mean, if it's alright with you," Caesar added, apologetically. "I've just have been really lonely."

"Sure thing, no problem," Joseph said. With some effort he gently lifted up the bust, and laid him onto the bed. With his face and hair varnished, Joseph no longer needed to worry about Caesar's details flattening out when he laid him sideways.

Normally Caesar didn't like soft surfaces: he was unable to bounce, and he felt even more helpless than he already was. But this was different: embraced by Joseph, as they lay side by side, Caesar never felt more loved in his brief existence. Not just loved as a masterpiece, but loved as a person.

He felt fulfilled. He felt important.

He looked back at Joseph, who had fallen asleep again, messy-haired and shirtless, embracing Caesar's vestigal torso like a pillow, and lightly snoring. Caesar looked lovingly at him for a few more minutes, until he, at last, fell asleep.

If I could only hug him back, came the final thought in Caesar's head for the night, before weariness in the end took over, leaving both sculptor and sculpture entwined in peaceful slumber.

"Aw shit," Joseph groaned as the sickeningly sweet smell of burnt pancakes filled the early morning air. "I hope you like it well done," he joked, flipping the charred patty onto a plate.

"And that's why I'm glad you didn't take culinary arts," Suzi replied with a laugh, as she sat by the kitchen table with Caesar on the tabletop.

"By the way, I love these little elevators you made for Caesar!" Suzi complimented, examining the dumbwaiter-like contraptions Joseph built to help Caesar get up onto tables or back onto the floor. "You really worked hard to give him independence."

"He needs it," Joseph answered. "It's the best I could do for him."

Caesar, meanwhile, had plenty of questions to ask Suzi ever since she spoke of his magical origins.

"Say, how long did the clay beings live, in those legend you found?" Caesar asked, a bit uneasily. "My existence isn't just a short-term spell, is it?"

"Not at all!" Suzi reassured him. "If anything, they were said to sometimes live for up to hundreds of years!"

Hundreds of years, thought Caesar, somewhat regretfully. Would he eventually outlive Joseph? And what would he do without him?

But he shook such thoughts from his head. It just meant he still had plenty of time with his beloved sculptor, and what mattered was today. Joseph was here. He was here. And that was the important thing.

"Say, it's Sunday tomorrow," Suzi told Joseph. "If you're free, maybe we should go out sometime? It's kind of been a dull week, and I'm sure we could both go somewhere," she said. "I could use a vacation since I don't really have much else to do."

"I mean, sure," Joseph said, "but what about Caesar?"

"Take me with you," Caesar begged. "I want to get out of this house at least once!"

"It's dangerous," Joseph said. "People could see you! Or steal you! And you're so realistic-looking people might think I had an actual severed head with me if you'd try freezing up." he mused.

"I'm just a head," Caesar insisted. "You could just stick me in a box or something."

Joseph hesitated. He didn't want to put Caesar in danger. He knew the outside world had its perils, and Caesar, a mere clay figure and one without limbs at that, wouldn't stand a chance.

But he saw Caesar's pleading face.

What kind of life would it be for him to spend his whole life locked in a house? He knew Caesar had to be kept a secret. The world wasn't ready for something like him.

But at the same time, since Caesar was blessed with life, Joseph believed he needed to get to enjoy it, too.

"Say, Suzi," Joseph asked. "Do you know a place without a lot of people?"

She pondered for a moment. "There's a parkway by the beach, it's not very crowded this time of year. I mean, last I checked there isn't even anyone at all. It's completely deserted."

Joseph's face lit up.

"Tomorrow afternoon's sunset it is then," he said with a grin.

"And remember to bring us a box."

Your heartbeat hammers in your ears, and you’re not quite sure what’s louder, that, Dustin’s stream of curse words, or the Russian soldiers yelling after you as you, Steve, Robin, Dustin and Erica desperately run to escape them.

“This way!” Steve yells, and he grabs your hand, tugging you after him as you all make your way down some stairs. Steve shoves a scientist out of your way, before noticing more armed soldiers run in from a hallway. You and Steve quickly shove some barrels at them, toppling them over as Robin darts past you, pointing towards another door. You’re all quick to follow her, sprinting as you burst into another room. Steve slams the door shut, leaning up against it as he struggles to keep the Russians out, their fists loudly banging on the door as they yell foreign words. 

“Shit!” Dustin exclaims, looking around the room to find that you’re at a dead end. You rush over to help Steve, pushing up against the door as you can hear the Russians on the other side, and you shoot Steve a panicked look as he stares back at you with wide, helpless eyes.

“Here!” Erica screams, and you and Steve look over to see her opening up a vent on the ground. Dustin helps her haul it open, and Erica continues, “Come on, let’s go!” 

Robin glances at them before back at you and Steve, frozen in place as she doesn’t know which way to go. You let out a yelp as you can feel the Russians overpowering you and Steve, and Steve clamps his hand down on your arm, yelling, “Go with them!”

“No!” you instantly exclaim. “I am not leaving you behind!”

“Go, come on, now!” Dustin interrupts the two of you, already halfway inside the vent as he desperately gestures for you all to follow him. You gesture for Robin to go, and she hesitates before doing so. 

“y/n, go!” Steve insists, his voice strained and pleading, and you gulp as you shake your head. You can’t help but fear for the worse, but you know that you can’t leave Steve behind.

“We’ll come back with help!” Robin yells, and the both of you look over to her. You nod, and just like that, she disappears with Dustin and Erica, the vent closing over them just as the Russians finally bust the door open, throwing you and Steve onto the ground. And as the soldiers surround you, guns aimed and pointed at your faces, you scramble to grab Steve’s hand, and he gives it a squeeze as the both of you face your uncertain doom.

Um, hi!! I'm wondering if there's a post about the information on the gmb characters? Ik you did one of Summer Rain, but I was curious to see if there's one for this story too! :)

(gonna drop some spoilers for the most recent chapters of the story so people who aren’t caught up with the fic and don’t wanna be spoiled, beware!)

I.... don’t even know anymore with those guys.

I’ll be real with you. Things have changed. At the beginning, they were all going to be roughly the same age, early 20′s with a few stragglers in the mid 20′s range. But then I just kept adding levels of their life that would imply some of them are actually older and I’ve been putting off actually sitting down and trying to work it all out.

Don’t take my word for it because I’ve been completely bullshitting this story from the get-go, and I can’t remember what details I’ve written in the earlier chapters, but basically, Koutarou’s crew must be a few years older on average than Keiji’s crew.

Let’s try and break it down, bullshit style. Time to pull this stuff outta my ass rn and pretend that I had it planned ahead of time even though I’m admitting to everyone and their granny that that’s not true.

First, Keiji’s crew.

Issei is the oldest. Around 3 years older than Keiji. It’s been revealed in chapter 20 that he dropped out of Harvard and one lazy google search later, I’ve learned that to get a law degree, it takes roughly 5.5-7 years. First you gotta get your bachelor’s (which can take around 2.5-4 years) and then do at least 3 years of law school. Considering Issei used to be Mr. Studious (something that has been mentioned but will be explored more in the future) I think it’s safe to assume that he blazed through the first half of his schooling, busting out a bachelor’s degree in roughly 2.5 years. Then, he finished the final three years of law school but returned home before passing the bar exam. So that’s 5.5 years of higher education, starting from 18 years old, putting him at around 23-24 around the time he gave up and came home. Let’s assume that he’s been living back at home for roughly 1-2 years so Issei is about... 25-26 years old in this story, dropped out of law school, a general failure.

Okay.

Assuming Issei is 25-26ish, that would make Keiji roughly 22ish. He’s in school but let’s say he has been dragging his feet, taking only a few credits per semester and taking breaks every time his anxiety gets the better of him. He also works and doesn’t want to rely on his parents’ money so there are probably times when he’s skipped semesters in order to focus on saving money. He’s studying History.

Keiji and Kenma were in the same class and are both still in university so Kenma is also 22. His major is undeclared. He’s probably got no idea what he wants to do and is just sighing his way through, getting pushed in directions by his advisor who is sick of his “two classes per semester and nothing before noon” attitude.

Daichi and Tooru are a year older than Keiji and Kenma. So...

Daichi is 23-24ish. He’s much more driven than Keiji and Kenma (combined, tbh) and so he jumped right into culinary school after graduating high school. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in culinary arts when he was 21-22ish and has been training under Keiji’s father (and stinky Saburou) for the past year or so. If it seems like overkill, you are correct. Shin is old fashioned and he’s unwilling to graduate Daichi from trainee until he’s fully confident that he won’t fuck it up and disappoint him. Daichi was also getting private Japanese tutoring in his free time but June said “fuck that” and eviscerated fired his tutor.

Tooru is also 23-24ish. He said “ew no” to higher education and jumped immediately into writing. Okay no he attempted college for a year or so. He took some creative writing and english and literature classes but they weren’t teaching him anything he didn’t already figure out on his own and his teachers were musty and tried to stifle his writing voice and he hated writing essays and reading boring classic literature so he said “ew no” and now he’s a best selling rich prick and GOD living the dream my man. (self projection to the max there my bois.)

June is older than Daichi/Tooru but younger than Issei so she’s roughly 24-25ish. Like Daichi and Issei, she jumped right into university after high school. Uhhhh it takes about 7 years to finish schooling for physical therapy apparently but June ain’t no slacker so ya know she overachieved when getting her undergraduate and probably finished it in the same amount of time as Issei, around 2.5-3 years. Then spent 3 years at a DPT program, graduating when she was 23. She’s been working as a physical therapist ever since and she’s really good though her patients say she has a shit bedside manner.

Okay so that’s Keiji’s crew.

Now... Koutarou’s bastards are trickier to figure out. I’m reluctant to give them concrete ages, considering how often I come up with new garbage to include.

Takahiro is the oldest. Hmmm let’s make him 2 years older than Hajime, the second oldest. Suga is slightly older than Koutarou and Kuroo but they were in the same class at school.

Okay boom, got the order figured out.

Now... working backwards from the character who has the most time stamps, AKA Suga:

It’s been “several years” since the “incident”, according to Kuroo in chapter 20. Assuming “several years” means about 4ish years, let’s add another 4 years of military service. Basic and Ranger training actually only takes about a few months each but let’s round it up to one year. All in all that’s 9ish years. Suga ran off to join the military as soon as he turned 18, so 18 plus 9ish would make him roughly 27ish.

Phew. Okay. So, not set in concrete, of course, but for argument’s sake, let’s say their ages are this:

Takahiro-30 Hajime-28 Suga-27 Koutarou-26 Kuroo-26

There. Alright. So. Other stuff.

Obviously we already know that Takahiro got seduced into joining the Air Force by a recruiter when he was 18. Lining “the incident” up to match Suga’s timeline would mean he did about 7 years of military service before being honorably discharged at around 26(?) years old. Koutarou mentions that his “pilot friend” flew for an airline after leaving the military before quitting that job so let’s say he did that for about a year. At 27, he immediately became one of the highest ranking professional gamers in the world, won hella money in a few tournaments, boom bam done.

We also already know that Hajime ran off to join the military also at 18, did 5 years, lost his leg, got honorably discharged, been cleaning up after the other bastards ever since.

Immediately upon graduating high school, both Koutarou and Kuroo said fuck that to university and went absolutely buck wild in the real world, traveling all over on their parents’ money and anything they could scrape together on their travels. They are not book smart and they are not street smart but they know how to navigate foreign cities and talk themselves off of “no fly” lists and that’s real all that matters in the long run, right?

Uhhhhhhhh okay wow super sloppy and not good and probably inaccurate, ew, but yeah that’s basically what I’ve got to say about that lmao

        brayden is pretty affectionate with lennon to begin. initially, when he notices she’s upset, he’ll graze his knuckles over the soft skin of her cheeks, asking if she wanted to talk about it & reassuring that he’s here for her if she needed. letting her prop her legs onto his lap, he lets his hands run over the smooth skin, grasping them gently every now & then as he listens to her vent about whatever is on her mind. naturally once she’s feeling a little lighter, he HAS to shower her in kisses. it’s just how it’s done.

         being that brayden has always woken up early to get his day started, it’s more than likely that he wakes her whenever he’s back from the gym, drenched with sweat. he knows how much lennon dislikes the smell, so he purposely gets into bed with her  &  slips his arms around her. she responds instinctively with a lazy grin, shifting closer -- only till she realizes that it’s that time. post-gym time, aka time to wake up.

       BRAYDEN ;  when lennon starts cooking or baking, the kitchen is basically off - limits. she takes her culinary seriously -- almost too seriously, in his perspective. so when he saunters in, eyes full of mischief, she’s ready to kick him out. except he’s distracting her by walking up behind her and resting his chin onto her shoulder. after a few feathery kisses, he’s dragging his finger through the batter only to swipe it across her collar bones. all hell breaks loose.

        NEITHER ;  it hits him all at once. he’s been noticing how warmth would flood into his chest whenever he’d catch her gaze across the room or if they were doing something as simple as helping each other wash dishes (  it’s the only time she lets him into the kitchen tbh ). he plans on confessing how he feels for the blonde sooner than he ever expected.

         in bed, INITIALLY -- they’re both pretty quiet, testing the waters to see how the other is. bray gets more spurred on when she if she voices just how much she’s enjoying it ; once they’re more comfortable, they’re absolute freaks. they’re both pretty loud whether it’s him asking her if she likes it or her sensual moans, though he’s muting them with his lips against hers. out of bed, they’re both just straight up loud. they’re always making each other laugh or he’s doing something that has her yelling at him ( all fun  &  games though ).

          often times, brayden finds himself staring at her with endearing hues when she’s talking or laughing with her friends. even if he’s sitting a few feet away and is amongst the guys, he’ll make his way over, gently grasping her chin to drop a quick kiss against her lips and give her a little bop on the tip of her nose. other times, he’ll pull her into his lap even if there are other seats available. he just likes being close to her ( like a clingy heaux ) lbr.

We sat down with three of the team members behind The Legend’s Cookbook, and they shared their thoughts about the cookbook and what readers (and eaters!) can look forward to.

Zelda Universe: What made you decide to create a Legend of Zelda inspired cookbook?

Peter Abreu, Lead Chef: There were a lot of factors that went into us wanting to do this. People are spending more money eating out than cooking at home, and we can start to change that trend. We figure if we make cooking something fun, uncomplicated and interesting, we can really change people’s lives.

We love the Zelda series, we’re huge fans. We are in love with the stories, characters and art style. Do you know what is at the very core of that series? Being a hero and saving the world. All of us on the team want to do something like that. The absolute goal here is that one of the recipes in this book becomes a staple in someone’s diet, that it changes the way they go about their dietary lifestyle and their life improves from that change. If we manage to do that, then we’ve done it.

We want everyone to cook like a hero, what better place to draw inspiration from than a series that brought that concept so near and dear to our hearts?

Matt Mannheimer, Producer: It’s one of those things where you play something and you’re like “what if that was real?” That was some of our mindsets when wanting to make some of these inspired recipes from the games. From there we poured our heart into it. With our passion for gaming and the [Zelda] series in general, it made us do our research and figure out what will be the perfect fit for these recipes.

ZU: What types of recipes and foods from the Zelda series are you taking inspiration from?

Peter: The recipes in this cookbook are original, real world recipes inspired by The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. We have baked goods, breakfast foods, dinner items, healthy snacks, sweet desserts and so much more! We’re starting with 50 recipes and we want to add even more as stretch goals. For those stretch goals, we are going to add things like cocktails, more creative dishes, and even recipes inspired by the other games in the Zelda series.

Matt: This whole cookbook is from the perspective of the hero. The hero recollecting his time from his adventure, writing down these recipes, fighting monsters, going through dungeons. You know the whole drill! That’s what makes it special; it’s a cookbook that has a story behind it. Not just in the gaming world, but also in real life. If you have enjoyed Mother’s Cookbook or Batter’s Almanac, you’re probably going to enjoy this one.

ZU: Will this cookbook be enjoyed by those who may not know the Zelda franchise?

Peter: Absolutely, we like to keep cooking simple and accessible. This is not going to be a cookbook only for Zelda fans. This cookbook is not going to bash people over the head with references and in-jokes but there will be several subtle allusions and (literal) Easter eggs. We want this to be a guide for everyone, newcomers and veterans to the kitchen and the Zelda series.

The ultimate compliment is for someone to fall in love with the recipes, art, and photos in our cookbook, first, and then realize it draws a lot of inspiration from their favorite series, second.

Matt: You don’t have to know everything about the [Zelda] series to get into this book. I feel its for everyone. I definitely don’t know everything about the [Zelda] series, but whenever I look at these recipes, and the pictures, I’m drawn into it. There are recipes that range from easy to difficult, but they’re so much fun to make. They’re fun to make and are all delicious.

Patrick Deasy, Photographer: I’m probably the biggest normie of the bunch, I’m not much of a gamer. I’ve been able to try out these recipes and I can tell you from an outsiders perspective that this is definitely a cookbook first and a piece of nerd memorabilia later.

ZU: If you had to recommend a recipe to somebody who may be new to cooking, what would it be?

Peter: The rock-hard candy. Our rock candy recipe is simple and delicious. You can do it at home, it’s super easy and very enjoyable. This is for all those with a sweet tooth. Here, I’ll share it with you:

Rock Hard Candy

Ingredients:

2 Cups of White Sugar

1 Cup of Water

3/4 Cup of Light Corn Syrup

1/4 Cup of Pomegranate Juice

Powdered Sugar for Dusting

Directions:

In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, and corn syrup.

Heat up the pan over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the white sugar is dissolved completely with the water and corn syrup. It is important to stir gently after sugar has dissolved to prevent burning, Use a candy thermometer to watch the temperature of the mixture and let it hit to the hard crack stage of 300F (149C).

Once there, remove from it from heat and add in the pomegranate juice, slowly. Mix it in.

Then, pour the hot candy into a 9”x9” baking pan covered in parchment paper that’s been dusted with powdered sugar, so the candy doesn’t stick. Leave it out in the open air uncovered and let the candy harden and cool completely.

ZU: Which recipe from this cookbook are you most excited about?

In The Legend’s Cookbook, the Dubious Food tastes really good; a lot more than you would expect. It’s even pixilated, like in Breath of the Wild!

Peter: The recipe I am most excited for is the one inspired by Dubious Food. It was the very first item I wanted to try and make in the kitchen. It was something just so disgusting yet edible, it was a fun idea and I wanted to make it. It was hard but I really enjoyed all different ways to make the food turn purple and look gross yet taste amazing. The final product just came out so great and it tasted delicious.

I pulled heavily from learning how to cook coq au vin from Anthony Bourdain and his show Parts Unknown. He was a was a huge inspiration for me as a chef. I really resonated with him because, like him, I spent a lot of my traveling the world, learning different cultures and food. I wanted to bring that same spirit of travel and exploration, a concept also very core to the Zelda series, to this cookbook as well as honor him with one of my favorite dishes he made. Hours upon hours in the kitchen later, I’ve created a questionable but inviting twist on coq au vin that you will all enjoy.

Matt: The meaty rice balls. I couldn’t stop eating them! They were so good! I don’t know how Peter does it, but that meat was the most delicious thing I ever tasted. It’s sweet, it’s GOOD.

Patrick: This is pretty basic, but I was pretty amazed when I got to see Peter make the fried rice for a couple of the dishes. I’ve never been able to do it right, so knowing that it’s in the cookbook is pretty exciting for me. Also the Rock Hard Food is pretty rad. It’s like a hard candy that’s flavored with pomegranate juice and it’s great. Meaty Rice balls are fantastic. It’s spicy and sweet and wonderful. I almost forgot about the Dubious Food, that one is awesome. That one is definitely my favorite.

Peter: Our cookbook stands out from other cookbooks because it has a unique style and page layout. Have you opened a modern cookbook recently? That’s usually it.

Our cookbook stands out because from the very inception, we are designing it like a field guide. In the margins are little watercolor drawings of stunning vistas, charcoal studies of various herbs and plants, little notes tucked in here or there. Our cookbook is rough around the edges and that’s the point, we want it to feel like you’ve found something personal and real when you pick it up. We want you to bust out your own pen and inks and add to it, there’s space! This may be our cookbook but we want you to make it your cookbook.

Matt: This project consists of a group of best friends; we’re all working on this together; we’re on the same wavelength. But were also big fans of the [Zelda] series and gaming in general. Were putting time into each and every recipe. I know Peter has done countless hours of research on every single recipe.

Everyone on our team is professional; we have several animation students. We have someone who worked on the Archer (the TV show), we have someone who worked from SEGA, that’s me! This team has come from different sides of the gaming, animation and art community. I feel like our relationships show from this cookbook.

Patrick: The thing that really separates this cookbook, I know I’ve been saying this a lot, but most video game cookbook’s I’ve seen have been very novelty, and most of them are just decoration guides for baked goods. This is not just a novelty decoration guide, we are not internet celebrities, we are a bunch of people who just really care about cooking.

ZU: A Kickstarter for this cookbook is coming up (May 2019); why should people support and back this project?

Peter: We hope, we really do hope, that people support our project. This is going to be something you’ll want to show other people and it is going to inspire you to cook for them as well. If you like cooking, if you like games or you want to just have a real piece of art to hang out on your bookshelf, this is for you.

Matt: The Kickstarter were hoping to have that up in May. We’re working really hard on this, we’re trying to make recipes that everyone can enjoy; a culinary adventure. This is one of my favorite projects I got to work on my entire life. The food is SO good. I’m serious about those meaty rice balls! I feel like with the team, partnering with TheYetee and the recipes, this will make for an amazing product.

We’re also working with The Yetee on this project! They will help with distribution, fulfillment, back rewards. I think partnering with TheYetee was amazing, and you’re gonna see a lot of stuff in the future that we’re excited to show off.

Tips For College

A little back story on me. I attended college right out of high school for mechanical engineering. I was an AP student, good grades but I HATED school. Shortly into engineering school I dropped out because that wasn’t what I wanted at that point in my life. Long story short, I pursued another career (which I’m still happy I did). Eventually I decided to go back to school and quickly discovered I no longer hated school but in fact LOVED it! I’ve been able to maintain a 4.0 and continue to work. My goals are now to become a registered dietitian which requires a masters degree (and then after that I want my PhD in nutrition), at least a bachelors degree in Kinesiology, next semester I’ll be getting my associates in culinary arts 👩🏼‍🍳, and then maybe even a degree in photography because I’ve already taken a few classes. A few years ago I honestly thought I would always just be a college dropout, so it’s crazy to me that I now have these goals.

Here’s my tips on how to be successful in college

Show up to class!!!!!!! This is the most important tip I can possibly give. For a lot of students, college is their first time experiencing independence and not being forced to go to school. So they just don’t show up! Attendance can be part of your grade. Those are easy points that your missing out on if you don’t show up. Even if attendance isn’t counted (and more importantly) your missing out on info!! It’s way easier to just show up to class and listen, than to try and catch up on the info yourself. Plus a lot of professors while teaching will also hint at important info that may be on tests. I could go on and on but the point is just SHOW UP TO CLASS!

Don’t procrastinate. This ones obvious and I think we all already know that. At the very least, look at the parameters of the assignments because sometimes if you wait till last minute you’ll screw yourself if the assignment entails more than you thought.

Get organized. I like to color code everything. This means I have a colored binder for every class with a matching colored notebook. I use three ring binders and notebooks with 3 hole punches so I can put them in the notebook. Because I have classes from multiple majors it’s easy to look at “green” and know that Kinesiology, “black” culinary arts, “blue” photography, etc.

Take notes even if it’s not required. A lot of professors are insulted and get angry if you don’t take notes (which usually means more students take notes). But there’s also a lot of professors that don’t care, your grade and work ethic is on you. In those classes, most everyone just sits there and stares at the proffessor and never writes anything down. Taking notes is a great way to help retain information. Also, I use one of those 4 color pens. For me it’s just easier to look at notes where main points and sub points are in different colors. It helps me to find info faster when going over notes.

Get every point possible. I guess this one depends on your standards and expectations. For me, I’ve become a freak about my grades. I want the highest grade possible at all times! I think this is a good rule for any student though because you never know what’s going to happen! There’s times when you can be sittin pretty on an A and then boom a bad exam and you have a C now. The last thing you want is that to happen and you don’t pass the class. I also find that trying to get every point possible is a great way to alleviate stress during the finals. It gives you a little cushion so that your not borderline a grade you don’t want. So even the stupid little 5point assignments, do them! If extra credit is offered, do it even if you don’t need it. You never know.

Get to know your professors if possible!! I’m not saying kiss ass but be nice and talk to them. Theyre just people. Knowing your professors can open up a lot of doors and opportunities. Maybe down the road you need a letter or recommendation. It can also help with your grade. This last semester I got to know my photography professor and told him how I just enjoyed the class and was only taking it for fun. I also told him how I had a 4.0 and I was seriously stressing that the class was going to blow it for me because I had a B that seemed impossible to bring up. I did extra credit, I busted my ass, barely got it up to an A and he saw that. I definitely think that helped influence my grade on the final because if he had given me one point less, I would have gotten a B.

Figure out your professors teaching/testing style as fast as you can. Now this isn’t about getting to know them personally but figure out how they like to run their class. Every teacher has a system of how they like to grade and also how they like to present info. Are they getting test questions from the book, their power points, or things they say? There’s times where I don’t even bother with the book because professors create tests using only info in the power points.

Balance your schedule with easy classes and hard classes. This isn’t always possible but if you can don’t overload yourself. It’s super easy to do while your working on your initial general eds but harder to do once you get into your core classes

If there’s a study guide, DO IT! This seems so obvious to me but it always blows my mind how many students never do study guides.

(Especially if you work) try to give yourself a day off. This doesn’t have to mean don’t do anything including homework but just make sure there’s at least one day a week where you don’t have to go to school or work. This last semester I had basically no free time at all. It was horrible. I didn’t see friends or family hardly ever. Balance is key.

Saga of Patricia the Ferals. chapter 1

It was a rainy summer evening, when all people in the town of Newdawn had retreated to their cozy homes, too wet and muddy to work. No one wanted or needed to face the heavy rain for some puny bit of silver they could’ve earned on a normal night so they all headed to an early sleep. Even the adventurer’s pub, where singing and fighting can normally be heard from dusk till dawn, remained strangely quiet despite all the loudest member of the town all gather there. However, in a small cabin near the edge of the woods, far from the normally bustling town, light still shone from the small window.

“Come now, Patricia, be a good girl and go to sleep. You can’t expect to train in this kind of weather right?” A middle aged man calmly reminded his daughter. He tried his best to follow the child around the house, but his old wounds kept reminding him of why he retreated to that simple cabin.

“But daddy, it’s too early. Purricia don’t wana sleep yet!” His daughter answered while avoiding his hands reaching out to her. The girl was quite troublesome, running around and even crawling up the walls and cupboard, just like a cat avoiding his owner. In fact, that little girl is a cat, more exactly a Feline Feral, one of the many races that populates this land. With snow white fur and heterochromia eyes, she was of a rare breed, even amongst the Ferals.

With his daughter up on a shelf, crouching and clawing up the furniture, the man gave her an “I gave up” sign: “All right, kid. How about I read you a story before bed?” Patricia’s eyes brightened: “Really dad? We can read a story?” Her father smiled gently: “Yes, now come down here and pick one, would you.” The young Feral climbed down and dashed to her room with excitement in every step. She jumped on her bed, eagerly waited for story time. The man sat down next to her and asked: “So, what shall we read tonight?” “Can you tell me the story of the Four Heroes, dad?” Patricia answered. Her father seemed surprised by this: “But we have read this many times before. Surely you would find something else interesting? How about some fairy tales, you like it right?” Patricia whined: “No dad. That’s boring. I don’t want that silly stuff.” The man smiled: “Served me right for teaching you martial arts this early. All right. Here we go.”

Once upon a time, there was a void with nothing but chaos and darkness in it. There was no space, no time, not even magic. Then one day, a bright light shone down from the heaven and descended the five great spirits: Celcius, the flame of wrath and wisdom, Garcia, the pond of danger and adventures, Natura, the tree of cruelty and life, Adamantus, the armor of coldness and royalty and Terrapagos, the mountain of stubbornness and nurturing. With their great powers combined with the very chaos of the void, they created the vast land, the clear sky, the great sea and all the creatures living in it, giving the land order for the first time. However, other forces hated the spirit’s creation and tried their hardest to plunged them all back into the abyss. Amongst all those horrid creatures, the biggest fiend of all was the one we called Inanitus. Controlling the very emptiness of the void itself, he united all factions of monsters under his rule and destroyed everything in his path. Where ever they went, nothing remained on their tracks, all absorbed back into the void. Eventually, the five spirits created four great weapons and gifted them to warriors of their choosing. The Shield Hero whose stand so sturdy he wouldn’t move an inch under any attacks. The Staff Hero who were gifted the power of the void, to reshape reality to fit his liking. The Axe Hero whose strength so great he moved a mountain on his own. And finally, the Sword Hero who was the most noble, most courageous man in all the lands. Together, the Four Heroes defeated Inanitus, plunging him into the deepest bottom the void where nothing could ever escape. But just before his defeat, Inanitus uttered a curse: “May the land where these weapons rest never know peace, plagued forever by an avatar of my burning hatred for all things there is and will be. Should one be killed, another will take its place, till the end of all time and space.” From then on, every few hundred years, a new Demon would be born amongst all monster races and once again rise up to take over the world. Fortunately, just as the Evil one was born anew, for new Heroes, guided by faith and destiny, will once again take up the Four Weapons and cleanse the land of evil.

“Wow,” Patricia’s eyes brighten up “Do you think I can be a hero like that one day, dad?” Her father smiled: “who knows, sweetie. Maybe you could. After all, most recorded Heroes had a humble beginning.”

���YEAH! I’m gonna grow so strong and fast to fight monsters and save people and…”

Looking at his daughter bouncing around on her bed, he can only pray for her safety should she choose the path of the adventurer. He rubbed her head and gently said: “Yes, you will, my daughter, but to do all that, you should be in bed now. Can’t fight any monster when you’re tired right?” Hearing that, Patricia settled down under her blanket. They shared one last good night before she drifted into her sweet dream, unknowing all the worries in her father’s mind.

12 years later

“COME ON, DAD! We’re gonna be late!” Patricia, now a young woman, ran quickly to the adventurer’s guild in the enter of the nearby town. She’s now 19 years old and, having finished her training with her father, can be registered as an adventurer herself. “Wait, Patricia! My knees, they burn!” her father trailed behind her on his poor legs, wheezing out from all the beating he took back in his youth.

The town is still as lively as the day they moved there. All kinds of people from all races doing business with each other. The dwarves set up their work shop while arguing with the nearby elf selling books and tomes. A few Dragonian and Human adventurers gathered near the center fountain, dividing their rations for another day out in the wilderness. Avian mailmen urgently filled up every post box in town and flew away to who knows where for more mail and packages to deliver.

Eventually, they arrived at the guild, where everyone were being rowdier than usual. “Hey guys, it’s Marcus!” Someone in the back shouted and all the others adventurers followed.

“Welcome back, old man.”

“Hey, how’re you doing?”

“Little Patricia sure have grown.”

“How about some drink later, my treat?”

Amongst all the welcoming voices, Patricia can only imagine her father’s glory day. What kind of man was he before she came into his life? As she was wondering, her father called: “Patty, come here!” and lead her to the register. A beautiful woman greeted them: “Welcome to Newdawn guild, Mr. Marcus. My name is Alice. How can I help you today?”

“Yes,” Marcus answered “I would like to register for my daughter.”

“Of course. Now Patricia, can you tell me something about yourself? More specifically, your race, favorite weapons, fighting style, etc… things like that.”

“OK. First, I’m a Feral, Feline sect.”

Alice quietly asked: “So Mr. Marcus is not your birth father?”

“Yes. Sadly, they were killed by monsters when I was too young to remember. Father happened to pass by and took me in.”

“I’m very sorry about that.”

“Oh, please don’t be. I couldn’t ask for a better dad than him and you can’t live in the past, right?”

“Right. Now, how do you usually fight? With a sword perhaps, or a staff? Did your father teach you how to use weapons?”

Marcus chimed in: “She needs no weapon. I trained her so that she can fight using her claws and bare fists, just like how I did.”

“Yeah. Besides, every time I tried a weapon, I broke it by swinging too hard” His daughter add. Alice’s face brightened up: “So she’s a Monk then. Thank goodness, I don’t think the guild can provide another sword to new recruits. There’s just too many swordsmen out there.”

“Have you tried a club or a mace? Completely unbreakable I promise.” An adventurer, Dragonian Berserker by the looks of it, asked.

“Yes, we did, Harold. And somehow, she broke the handle in half and cracked the spike ball simply by smashing it at a rock.” Hearing what Marcus said, approved murmuring can be heard throughout the guild. Patricia continued: “Also, I have learned many skills from dad, like…” Alice interrupted her: “Don’t say that aloud! An adventurer’s skills are his lifeline. You must never do that, OK? On that note, you mustn’t show this to anyone else also: Your adventurer card!”

With an eager hand, Patricia grabbed the card she was given. On it, everything she had learned and can learn can be seen, inscribed with magic ink that will add things into the list should she learn them. “This is great, but” She asked “Why isn’t cooking on the list? I can cook and that is a skill, right?” Her father gave her a sorry look: “Don’t worry honey. Ferals are not known or their culinary skills. Have you ever noticed that I never let you cooked before?”

“But I have cooked before, it tasted great to me.”

“Your “cooking” means shooting ki blasts into a pond to blow fish up, cook the fish over the resulting molten rocks then almost burn your tongue eating them.”

Laughter busted out in the guild with Patricia furiously trying to stop them. At last, Marcus said goodbye to his daughter and headed home, feeling both proud and worried for her. But by the end of the day, he knew that the little kitten he found in that wreckage years ago was no more. In her place stood a strong, beautiful young woman who snapped bear’s necks on a regular basis. “She’s gonna be fine. There’s nothing around this part that can even touch her anymore.” The man told himself that and headed home.  

With her father gone home, Patricia eagerly checked the bulletin board. So many quests, all with fair rewards and great adventures waiting for her. Eventually, something caught her eyes. The biggest quest on the board, with the best reward: Cleanse the nearby cave. Such an easy job, enemies are just small, weak and stupid goblins. Even though they live in packs, none of them is cooperative enough to get much things done, easy targets for new recruits. She brought the request to the clerk.

“I would like to take this quest please.”

“Ah, yes. You know, we’ve had this for a few months now. Nobody would pay attention to it.”

“Really? But the rewards are so good.”

“And five people had died doing that quest.”

Suddenly, a young man interrupted them. He was in his late teens or early twenties, tall but not lean, with a defined but not bloated form. His short, choppy white hair was so unruly, Patricia imagined he had just got out of bed and didn’t even care about how he looks. Despite of that, both his sturdy looking dark leather pants and the knee long black coat with an alarming amount of pockets are in perfect shape. Under the coat, he wore a red tunic with chainmail lacing underneath. As for weapons, he had a big sword hung behind his back and two strange wooden sticks on the waist.

“Hey look guys, Lenox’s back!”

“Hey Len, got something cool? Bet you stole it somewhere”

“Seriously guys, get a new joke.” The man, Lenox, lightheartedly joked back to the rowdy crowd behind him and continue.

“Listen Feral, it’s not I’m looking down on you, it’s just there’s something wrong about this quest. I’ve just got back from the next town and the same quest is hung there. Four guys there had gone missing doing it. That, along with one of our guys named Marshal who went last month. I seriously think you should party up then go.”

“Thanks for the advice but I got this, Lenox. You may not know this, but I snapped a bear’s neck when I was twelve. Bunch of goblins won’t get me.”

“You’re clearly not listening, so I’m gonna say that again. You ARE NOT going to do this quest.”

Hearing that, Patricia felt underestimated. She was a master martial artist for god’s sake. She can handle herself, especially against a bunch of runty humanoid half her size.

“Oh, I’m doing this quest and YOU. ARE NOT. GOING. TO STOP. ME!” And so, angrily, she took the request and stormed off the guild.

Even long after the Feral left, an awkward silence was still presence in the building. Eventually, Alice inched over and said

“Look, Lenny. Do you think that you overreacted?”

“Me? You are the one who’s not acting right. Just look at her, no weapon, no armor, storming off like that. Oh, I know she’s a Monk but I’m pretty sure that her tunic can’t do much against knives and claws.”

“You worry too much.” An adventurer chimed in “That girl can use her ki now. She’s gonna be fine.”

“Oh, I’m telling you. She’s not gonna be fine. There’s something fishy about that cave and like hell I’m gonna stand here and watch. Anyone with me?”

At that, everyone kept murmuring about, some tried to calm Lennox down, others made dumb excuses and continued on with their business. Some even kept joking about how he would steal their wallets. “Of course it is.” Lennox muttered to himself and went out, heading for the cave. Something must be up with those goblins and he’s gonna prove it.
