#context i guess: at the start of the series with 'Hostage' we via connor meet one of his buddyguard teammates: charley #who is in a wheelchair and works mainly behind the scenes #but was the first bodyguard to recieve the gold bodyguard badge for what she did that...led to the wheelchair #as we only told at the time it was because of an assignment she was on #and book 3 ended on charley beginning to tell connor how it happened- leading to Target #and....now book 4 showed the assginment and holy shit to how it happened

my main takeaway from watching the trailers is i would absolutely play versus13, but mostly because having played ffxv and enjoyed it a lot despite its many flaws, im desperate to see these alternate versions of the characters like

noctis that is SO war hungry. this guy saw his kingdom fall around him and probably his dad died and gave him the armiger and now he's high on power and out for revenge

like he has to be talked down from trying to assasinate the emperor

he's like im the most powerful person here! im not leaving! and the buddyguards are like BRO they're after /you/ if you dont leave more people die

just what a fascinating contrast with a noctis who was not in insomnia when it fell and isnt instantly op from the start and is mostly sad and trying to figure out his purpose amidst the ruins

just. versus13 is honestly more interesting to me because of what it turned into eventually. the two games are so different but such interesting reflections. im desperate to play it now.

also again cannot emphasize how different ffxv's announcement trailer is from the actual game. the announced a game so different than what they actually made. twice. its hilarious

I saw Ladybug in the park just now. At first I thought there was an akuma and started looking for a hiding spot, but then she went up to these kids on a bench and started yelling at the girl for lying about being her friend. Girl had the same hair as the one in the video. Felt bad for her (more so for the boy with her), but also kinda hope it was the same person – real awkward for Ladybug if she publicly lectured someone who just looks like the person she was mad at.

Finally on Target from the Bodyguard books and welp, they really said anyone who is recruited into Buddyguard must either come from a shitty background or must have some level of angst. 

#connor? we read his dad dying while protecting the president of america #ling? comes from a life on the streets that forced her to survive until she was found by buddyguard #amir? comes from a background of poverty and this being his chance to support his family #and now charley in target literally is confirmed to have seen her best friend being kidnapped as a kid and that friend was never found #and then her parents died in a plane hijacking #like what the books gonna do with jasons and marcs backgrounds at this point
