Bpp how have you been handling chapter2? Do you get bored or lose interest in Bts in hiatus? Do the solo rollouts not bother you? Please be honest I really want to know you true opinion.
***
Hi Anon,
Chapter 2 has been rough for you, hasn’t it? At least, based on your ask it sounds like it’s been. Tangentially, did you enjoy yourself this past weekend?
I’ve said this before, but if you ever feel like it’s a chore to remain plugged into BTS or stan culture, please step back. Don’t feel guilty about detaching if you no longer find joy in it. Move on to another hobby or another group if that’s where you’re at. BTS has fans, don’t worry. Don’t feel any obligation to stick around if Chapter 2 isn’t serving you what you want. You can check back in 2026 when the guys are together, or move beyond them completely.
That said, personally, I wonder how you can even ask me this question. Like, what else has Chapter 2 been but a trip? Lollapalooza, Balming Tiger collab, World Cup, Jungkook’s birthday video for Jimin, Indigo collabs, Set Me Free Pt 2, Promise on Spotify, On The Street, D-DAY tour, Yoonmin live, etc.
It’s been a blast. The music is easily some of the best globally this year and last. To illustrate:
...
The song I just listened to is Baseline by j-hope.
youtube
*
It's like a drug for me.
I don't think you understand.
I get high... off their music. Like, I don't know why you think two years of irregular releases without their full promotion of that music, will change my underlying sentiment. BTS scratches an itch few other artists can reach for me.
[ The sentiment? BTS is one of the best musicians of my generation. They make music that actually slaps. Any day of the week. Any genre they touch. It's prime good music. ]
Let me walk you through my playlist for the last half hour:
J-hope - Baseline
Baseline is the sauciest hiphop joint out of Korea, ever. J-hope is undeniably one of the most skilled and versatile rappers out of Asia. Point. Blank. Period.
RM, Tablo - All Day
RM's vocals in All Day render me a stupid mess. He's sooooooo... he's kinda nasty. I mean, it's big, he's kinda messy with it, but he ultimately knows how to use it, and he knows you know that he knows. All of this I deduced from his articulation and delivery on All Day. Tablo too, that tease, matched Joon's energy seamlessly. No further comment.
youtube
*
RM, Mahalia, Benny Blanco - Closer
Namjoon created a masterpiece with Indigo. It's an atrocity that many people won't admit it. Really. Indigo is the album of 2022 (Hurt by NewJeans being the song of the year, and JITB at Lollapalooza 2022 by j-hope the concert experience of the year.) Closer is an impeccably produced song. I mean it's almost disgusting how smooth the production, arrangement, instrumentation, etc on that song is.
youtube
*
Jimin - Alone
The cold clarity in his lyrics. How raw and honest he is, in such a well produced track... people need to show this song more respect.
youtube
*
RM - Change Pt 2.
The only song that rivals how brilliant and badass this one is, is Set Me Free Pt 2 by Jimin.
youtube
*
Agust D - D-DAY
The entirety of D-DAY album still has me in a vice grip, but something about D-DAY the song, rips to the core. How he manages to slip something rock anthemic into the epic call to arms he made that song into... Yoongi is in a league of one.
youtube
And to drive home the point, listen to him on HUH?!
Agust D, j-hope - HUH?!
Still the best song on the album. Undeniably. I mean, if you don't black out when this song comes on are you even alive? /gen. No matter where I am, what I'm doing, I could be exiting my company's underground garage, loading laundry, whatever... no matter what I'm doing, when this song comes on I feel my brain short circuit. It's like a mental reset. I suddenly feel so alert and primed with tension I could kill a person if I felt like it. The grandmas scared about what rap does to teens... songs like HUH?!, really do flip a switch in people's heads. They're right to worry because that's what the genre, drill - the gritty, ominous, and violent contemporary expression of rap - that's what it's made to do. And Yoongi showed an effortless mastery of it in HUH?!
youtube
*
Agust D - tour medley
I hope people who weren't able to see Agust D in person, were at least able to see him in the livestreamed concerts. Many times since I saw him in California, I've come back to some fancams from his earliest days of the tour. This one by rogrog is a favourite. Yoongi is a master of his craft who loves to show off his virtuosity. And in his D-DAY tour, that's what he does.
youtube
*
j-hope, J. Cole - On The Street
Jung Hoseok just casually produced this timeless classic and dipped to the military. No fuss. No sweat. No excuses. He just did the thing, had J. Cole spit some of the sickest bars of his career on that song, then said, "see you later."
Things like this are why he's my bias.
He's a consummate professional.
youtube
*
Unpopular opinion, but I have no real issues with their solo roll-outs. I'm not unsatisfied with too much and frankly, I'm so greedy for new music I wouldn't mind another cluttered roll-out. I hope Joon's music follows soon after JK's because God knows I'm not sure I can stand the wait much longer. Joon makes a lot of 'BTS-style' music and so whatever he drops will serve as the perfect complement to Seven / JJK1. And Vmin will likely drop new music in the next year as well.
Chapter 2 has been kind of a blast.
That's my "true opinion", Anon.

why jikook?
i've been asking myself this a lot recently bc well, why them? why not tkook? or ynmin? hell, jihope even, they're underrated as hell honestly, have you seen that hot tub video? hobi was ready to unhinge his jaw to swallow jimin whole (and who (jk) could blame him.)
but jikook, in a not joking way, hits different. they always have. it's been years at this point that i've been deep in this rabbit hole (within the larger bts rabbit hole, my god, how deep does it go) but i don't recall making the conscious decision to fall in.
maybe a little background?
i'm a fake love army. actually, if we're getting technical, i'm an outro tear army bc it was in the comments of the freshly released fake love music video that i saw someone recommend outro tear if i enjoyed fake love and then it was over for me. extremely not fake love at first listen, who's voice is second on this track? i NEED to know. i'm a yoongi/rapline bias to this day. fake love still fucks though, don't get me wrong, it's a never skip for me.
for that first year and then some, i consumed backlogged content like it was my day job. i am a prone to hyper-fixations hermit, basically, who was going to stop me? my therapist? nah, she picks her battles.
i watched everything i could get my grubby little hands on like someone would be testing me on it later. (shoutout qdeoks, you were so real) i didn't open stan twitter for the first time till probably the end of 2018, really just in time to be slapped in the face full force with the shitshow that was a hate campaign against these boys i was deeply invested in by then, the likes of which i had never experienced in an online space up to that point. it was a truly, truly wild era, don't ever let anyone tell you differently.
all that to say, i've been here for a hot minute and i developed my own first impressions on bts and the members as individuals in a vacuum. no one had to point jikook out to me, they stuck out on their own.
potentially relevant disclaimer before we continue: i am really really queer. i grew up in the united states conservative deep south and had to change high schools my sophomore year bc i was outed and then violently ostracized for being in a relationship with my same sex best friend at the time. it is safe to say i have a lot of feelings about and experience even when it comes to having to be low key (understatement lol) about who you love. i am not here just to make my barbies kiss.
actually, on that note, jikook wouldnt even be my chosen barbies out of bts. if we're in true fantasy delulu hours here, i would want yoonjin to be real. god, that would be the stuff, they're so old married as it is. peak romance.
i think the first place jikook ever truly caught my attention were the memories dvds. jimin has always been a sweet, bby angel taking care of all his members but i remember thinking that he seemed to pay a little extra, special attention to jungkook. and of course, why not, jk's the maknae after all. all of them have always been doting on him and deservedly so. but in those briefly shown really serious, quiet moments, jimin was often first in line. a spot very easy for him to obtain tbh as jk never seemed to be very far from him anyway. maybe if you've never in real time lived the satellite jeon accusations (hi pandemic army, bless you, i hope you make it to 2025 when we have them all back without restrictions) you might find them easier to dismiss but it was so consistent back then in all of the content being released. and once noticed, i don't know how anyone ever un-notices it. but i was in deep before i even realized the water was boiling.
should i talk about why not tkook? or ynmin, for me? i'm just pulling those as examples bc i know they're the popular contenders here but all joking in the beginning of this post aside, none of the other members interpersonal relationships, in any configuration (sadly, RIP yoonjin romance), have ever struck me as anything other than puppy crush/deep friendship/family. and that's not bc i don't think over half of those men aren't queer in some form or fashion because WHEW, that is an entirely different post and we simply do not have the time to unpack rn but it's not for lack of looking.
i started in a vacuum, but i have by no means stayed there, i walked in all of those front doors and sat down and said "convince me." i've got the time and lack of life, i am ready to be won over. what have i missed?
to this day i still regularly try and check my own confirmation bias, i'm obviously looking for jikook at this stage but i'm still ready on my toes if any of the others want to get crazy. (yoonjin i am rooting for you, we're all rooting for you)
and i'm not here to really persuade or sway anyone one way or another either. there are a 1000 other blogs on this site that can probably offer you better explanations, specific clips, and detailed break downs of moments throughout the years and even then people are going to see what they want to see. i just wanted to write some of my own thoughts down finally.
though...i guess if i had to point to any one single piece of "evidence" it would definitely be tried and true gcf tokyo? but if watching that the first time didn't ring through you like a gunshot, i def don't think there's anything i could say beyond that.
honestly, i think so much of "why jikook" for me boils down to the pit in the bottom of my stomach that i used to get when i first began to notice them. when i got past the initial warm fuzzies inspired by the sincerity of their interactions, my immediate second emotion was concern.
i remember the first time i heard some of the other boys make an offhand joke about them being a couple and i got anxious, fast. i thought hide, hide better, please be safe. i began to pay extra attention to the other members in general too when jikook would do things and felt like i could sometimes see a similar anxiety to my own in their expressions. for a long time, i just worried about them and where i saw other people rejoice in their more obvious moments, i was slow to celebrate.
despite my initial hesitation, it's now been about 5 years since the first time they ever made me double take. they're a few years younger than me but i feel like we've been growing up together. (parasocial? idk her.) they're less conspicuous these days, and for lots of obvious reasons, but i feel like overall, their confidence in themselves and each other is quite high. i know that's probably a funny thing to say in light of this last week especially, but i stand by it. i've seen this song and dance before. i have managed my own expectations in the past, taken full steps back only to be beaten anew over the head so many times with enough "coincidences" i felt borderline foolish to try and deny anything. jikook are truly some sort of neuro-spicy pattern recognition drug, i swear.
and i've never really gotten to talk about any of this with anyone before! i'm shy irl, and shy online apparently bc i have just been lurking around the outer lines of this circle this whole time like some creepy creep but i've decided i'm over it. fuck it. growth.gif. idk that i have anything important or new to contribute to the conversation but my god, no one else seems to let that stop them so i might as well take my turn on the soapbox, no?
so 📢 JIKOOK REAL (?) jikook sus. jikook make bandaged queer little heart go boom boom.

I'm going to ignore what this user is talking about because y'all know my opinion on armys and their "boycott". Hobi didn't do well because armys do not like his music and because he doesn't have a lot of stans, not because of the boycott and I think the person in that screenshot proved it. Armys are only listening and streaming the music they like for the members they bias and other artists they like, end of story.
My focus is on the person in the screenshot and that "I think most of us boycotters are rapline biased because we care about the social message" what does that mean?
It's really something that for years that rapline biased armys get away with saying borderline Anti stuff and armys let them because of pity. And I checked the quotes of this tweet, barely anyone's pointing out how weird that statement is, but are more interested in using that account as an excuse for Hobi's less than stellar chart performance.
They have always gotten away with the subtle shades. I remember an army account saying maknae line stans were visual stans, and they also got a lot of likes for it too with no one calling them out.
Rapline stans and their superiority complex, with the way they act you would think they stanned Kendrick Lamar or jcole. No y'all just Stan pseudo-intellectuals and one trick ponies.
What would Hobi do as a soloist if he was banned from basing his concepts and music on how he was a street dancer from Gwangju a million years ago? I think Yoongi is a good rapper but you hear one suga or agust d verse and you've heard most of them, and namjoon rivals Tae when it comes to being pretentious btw with that fake cultured thing he's got going on.
For years rapline would imply that they "wrote, composed or produced x song" and armys would make everyone go with that narrative and then you check the credits it's a million other names before theirs. Namjoon would come on live, give a break down while repeatedly saying "I" and of course to armys it means he did the whole thing himself when he obviously co wrote it with multiple others and most times he isn't even the main writer or composer lol. Most BTS songs are sent to them by other writers and of course the rapline make their own contributions and needed changes to fit the group, but armys will go on and on like they're the sole writers. This has been the foundation of their superiority complex.
And what social issues do rapline talk about? What have they rapped about in their solo songs that impacted society?. What "deep message" do they have in their music that vocal line haven't also talked about in theirs? These men have the advantage of having larger discographies , nothing more.
Edit: Not saying that I don't think they're good artists, I've praised them and their artistry multiple times and I do think Yoongi and Joon are the best rappers in kpop. Just find it annoying how their stans act like they're miles above every other Kpop artist when it comes to the stuff they sing about.

I've thought long and hard about what Jk's career will look like once all 7 are out. Last year he got a free pass and unlimited army support because half the group was enlisted. Army needed something to pass their time but will they feel this way when their bias is back and getting a fraction of the support that Jk gets? I'd think at some point rapline biased army will start to sour on Jk and his stans. Of course for V & Jm stans that's already happened to different degrees. How long can the company continue to push the Bts-is-7 narrative while actively throwing all their time and money in one member before army finally wakes up and sees how it affects the group and their bias?
Rapline and jin stans do call out on the favoritism jk receives but it pales in comparison for the animosity they have towards jimin. I’ve said this before but the tend to kiss jk’s ass because they hold him in higher regard. (hobi solos had to defend hobi just this past week because jk solos were dragging him) You won’t really see them drag him like they do jimin. They’re more content with jk being successful than they are with jimin being so because they don’t like him.
They know jk achieves his success through underhanded means whereas with jimin he achieved it through genuine ones. (They’ll talk about “mass buying” and d2c to devalue it but it’s the exact same methods they would’ve used for their own bias if it was still possible. lol.) Realistically, they know jimin’s numbers are the ceiling of what a bts member is capable of without industry or label aid. But they still conflate it to that because they can’t fathom someone doing as well as he did without it.
Armys truly believe that jk is the chosen one out the group and think everything is as it should be. Him being deserving of the promo over the other members, him getting all the opportunities he has etc. They’re not gonna deep the disproportionate support until a member comes out and speaks about it. But until then, they’ll cling onto whatever sense of normalcy they can.

I genuinely cried bc of these things that jm have to go through all from the debut days but especially after what he faced with his debut album, but today its on whole another level, like good for y'all jkkrs and army but as a jm solo who never dragged other members and even streamed some songs for them, this is heartbreaking but one thing I don't understand is why y'all shade rapline especially yg for Jimin's short and disturbed promo time but not jk for immediately flying to the US with bangpd after jm's BB hit 100 #1 and recorded something and posed for 'history in the making' photos with bangpd and scooter braun, is it just because y'all think he's jm's boyfriend or is there something else that supports this favouritism like it's clear that jm's sabotaged by the company because they want jk to be the one to be the breakout star of BTS but jm disrupted by topping the hot 100 and not to support yg when they know that yg is in no way competition with jm as they released in different genres and they're both different in their popularity levels. Lastly I'm not against your beleifs about their relationship or anything I just don't understand not holding up jk to the standards y'all hold up other members when it comes to the sabotage situation of jm because the one who's going to benefit the most from it is going to be jk, so just a genuine doubt..
I genuinely cried too. After every single sabotage. The most heartbreaking thing to see was that false biggest free fall. I weren’t able to get over everything that happened and I won’t be able to.
I didn’t shade rapline, I said it’s only company’s fault, not any member’s fault. I don’t want other members to get sabotaged or to get less promotion so it would be fair. It just shouldn’t be about priviliges. Everyone should get proper promotion. The unfair thing is that JM was robbed and we can’t turn back time, so it will stay like this.
I didn’t understand how Yoongi could get 100+ days of promotion while Jimin got only 9. Since their albums happened to overlap, they could promote both at the same time. Moreover after JM made history. Normal company celebrates huge success of their artists.
I believe in that company are people who can’t stand to see Jimin’s success and they are jealous of his achievements. They were mad after he was No1 for sure.
And to answer your question about JK. JK is my 2nd bias since the beginning, I loved him before I even thought they are in a relationship and his songs are my 2nd favourite, so I’m happy for his success and I’m excited for his album. It’s not his fault company wants him to be their star.
And if JK gets radio? I will be happy for him, but it will be extremely unfair towards Jimin, so at the same time it will make me very sad.
At the end of the day I only hope JM will be even more successful despite everything and every person who wants to put him down, so they all can be even more jealous. He deserves the best in life. There aren’t a lot of people like him.

BPP that Namjoon performance????@!!!!!!!??????
***
Listen! The girls who get it get it.
God what Joon is... where do I even begin? Talking about Yoongi, Joon, and Hoseok for me induces a riot of emotions. And it's the worst with Namseok for both their bond and their individual characters. Namjoon though...
Namjoon is something else. Really.
And can we talk about Hoeok for a sec? About how that man simply cannot not serve for the life of him? I mean, how can you look at this man and tell me he has not served his country every single day of his life, simply by existing as the gorgeous man he is.
Tumblr media
Do you see what I see?
*
Tumblr media
He's sick.
Back in his Louis Vuitton the second he's out of military fatigues, chic side-pouch present, lips perfectly moisturized... because Hoseok knows who and what exactly he is.
Let's take it back to Joon for a sec because I just had a revelation.
Tumblr media
We need to hear his song with Pharrell. There's something I'd like to confirm for myself and I think for all of us in any case, the world will become a better place when Namjoon releases music into it. I saw someone say on Twitter that he reminds their mom of a young Leonard Cohen, and I can totally see why she would say that.
For anyone unfamiliar with the sort of person Leonard Cohen was, The New Yorker does an excellent short profile on him (linked here). One part in that profile that immediately reminds me of Joon is this bit:
"In a letter to his publisher, he said that he was out to reach “inner-directed adolescents, lovers in all degrees of anguish, disappointed Platonists, pornography-peepers, hair-handed monks and Popists.”"
They are similar in other ways too but really, at the end of the day, the real reason I'm here is because Joon is hot.
Tumblr media
C'est ça.
*
And Yoongi, that little shit, after creating the concert experience of the century went back to his studio and did this...
Tumblr media
*
Tumblr media
The fuck?
Who does he think he is? The fucking audacity to look like that, to flex his guns in our faces and fucking smile on top?
He's insane.
Y'all, these three are a major problem for me. A friend recently pointed out to me that maybe one reason I get so into jikook and the other members sometimes is for relief from the overwhelming response I have to the rapline in BTS. And I'm not sure she's wrong.
Anyway, I hope you're all eating your vegetables and drinking your water. Exercise, reach out to friends you haven't seen in a bit, and stream D-DAY, Indigo, Jack in the Box, The Astronaut, FACE, and Seven. Also Tae's solo tracks (but I personally think Sweet Night goes best with IU's music and Ditto by NewJeans, but do you of course). 2026 is a long way off and the world is falling apart in many places, there's a lot going on so please take care of yourselves and fangirl safely and sensibly. Some of the asks I see in my inbox lately kinda worry me, lol. Then again, we're all going a little crazy in chapter 2.
Thanks for this and the other Joon ask, Anon.

can I ask you a question, now this is 4th time this week I'm seeing someone on ig claiming it was Tae who made BTS famous. But is it really? From what I'm seeing it's their songs and contents different from other kpop groups, amazing rapline which most kpop groups lack, JK being a terrific vocalist, JM being the best performer and being naked IT BOY, Joon speaking English to navigate through western interviews made them famous. So I don't see where Tae comes in this equation 🤔 If I have to choose 3 main members bts can't do without it will be Jimin, JK and Joon. Because imagine a concert one of them is not performing.. it will be disaster compared to Yoongi or Tae or Jin not performing.
This is both heartbreaking and intellectually stimulating. Let's get into it🤣
Performance wise, i don't think you can do without Hobi, JM, JK and Tae in my humble opinion. Especially in that particular order😩
To that end I'll distinguish between dancers and dance influencers. Hobi JM JK Tae are dancers but Hobi JM are the dance influencers. Their unique dance background influences and inspires the performances bts put out.
We can't compare mere dancers with dance artists I'm sorry. Tae Kook are great dancers but Hopemin are the dance artists of the group and without their input and vision and artistry BTS would be STB.
Vocal wise, you can't do without Jin, Hobi, Jimin and Tae💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀(in no particular order. I'll expatiate further on this hold on)
Visual wise, you can't do without all of them these days🥴
I mean exhibit A
Tumblr media
Its embarrassing to say but- daddy pappito🥵🥵🥵🥵
Makes me want to crawl under his desk obediently🥴
But back in the day??????? Back in the day visuals was jx Jin, JM and may be Tae I'm sorry. Jm was half way in between boy, non-binary, and stud- thank God for their glow ups🤣🤣🤣🤣
I say JM was a visual because he looked more cut chiseled and met the ideal male body beauty standards which is why hybe constantly over sexualized him.
I recall Joon saying they all worked out thinking they were going to flaunt their bodies only to be told by the company JM was the only one who was going to display his body- even though he didn't want to and felt some way about it. Jin had the face, and broad shoulders, JM had the abs🥴
These days they are all visuals in their own right.
Jk is the vocal lead yes and carry most of their songs true.. but sometimes I feel Jin Hobi and Tae could easily replace him on most songs and they would be just fine😩😩😩😩😩😩😩
This is not to belittle his efforts contribution and talents at all. It's just sometimes I feel they share certain lines to certain members just so no one is left out but honestly sometimes they are just vocally redundant 🥴
Especially considering the genre of music they choose to make which really doesn't require diverse vocal ranges.
Tae does so well with low notes, Jimin and Jin do so well with higher notes. Jk cannot replace Tae or Jimin- he can do what they do, but sometimes even he complains he struggles with certain notes because if Jimin and Jin.
Tae has equally ever complained its hard to harmonize with Jm's high note.
I'm not playing favorites when I say, JM has one of the most unique voices in BTS. He and Tae to me have very different very unique vocal ranges so really they are core pillars of the group too. By that I mean we can't do without them. If this was a game, I wouldn't eliminate either one of them.
But of course, back in the day none of these members had developed their voices and talents. Jimin was but a rapper and hadn't spent much time training his voice to sing.
So within the context of their early days, JK was the vocal king of BTS which earned him lead.
Then there's Hobi and all rounder. Super underrated that one. He can sing sing, rap and dance and these days he's a visual- stage presence is impeccable, he's unproblematic, kind, generous- BTS 2.0 is going to be chaotic cos some of us are getting bias wrecked already🤣
Jk is an all rounder much like Hobi. Which means you either save him and eliminate all the others off the board or you can eliminate him and the others much like pawns will fit right into his shoes- and depending on their individual limits they can either become bishops but never Queens 🥴
Most times I feel wow, Hobi could easily double as a vocalist because he sings well, and he has a beautiful singing voice too.
So I place him on the same scale as JK😩
If I had to rank characters on the board, Hobi would be my Queen for Sure- chess reference if you play chess.
When I hear BTS, really I can't think of them as anything but 7 member group.
They will struggle without Suga's musical genius, without Hobi's dance mentorship, without Namjoon's leadership. So to me these three, Suga, Hobi, RM are quite fundamental to the day to day functioning of the group. Let's call them the core pillars of BTS.
These three alone however may not necessarily make for a global boyband on their own
For Tae, he was the fan recruit executive who could easily turn fans. He was likeable relatable, funny and a joy to watch- personally I'm trauma bonded to him especially after his Naana passed and the while hybe hiding him before debut bit🤧
As he matured he mastered the art of pleasing fans also. He knew very much what the audience wanted and he gave it to them- he's still good at giving it to them- my Fan service King🤭 Remember he kissed Jin and said he knew fans would love that? He knows us, he understands us, he's one of us 🥴
He was very popular among fans, even to this day on IG he has the biggest following out of all the boys and BTS back then was of the view putting him on thumbnails would yield high clicks. Joon ever said that to JK if I recall- unless the translations were off then🥴
BTS have a view it's Army that has made them, they rarely talk about their hard work and talents and how that is what has opened so many doors for them.
So when Joon talks about JM and Tae he's talking about in different senses I feel. For him, his talent and efforts inspired BTS to broaden their scope, take on certain songs and performances that shaped and defined them and got them their breakthrough.
Tae also helped build their fanbase and attract rabid loyal fans.
I feel that this discussion ought to be viewed in context- in the context of 7 boys from different backgrounds with varying strengths and weaknesses being held to different beauty standards.
I mean imagine hybe signing Jin on because he's beautiful- remember Joon told Jin he wanted to hear he's handsome from him because he is the most handsome out of the group?
Jin is the ideal Kdrama lead Character in kpop frfr however that's not what attracts people to him🥴
These boys, young insecure being told daily this person or that person ought to be center cos they look better than yall or they dance better than yall- you should understand how that shapes their understanding of what made them successful. But truth is they all had a part to play in their journey to success and none of them was dispensable.
For JM he's there because he's a unique dancer, yet vocally they didn't know where to place him. He wasn't even signed on to sing from the beginning but imagine if he hadn't decided to switch and just remained a rapper- hybe would have had to toss him out at some point for sheer lack of passion for rap🥴
If suga had stayed in his comfort zone and not danced......... that that I like that 😭😭😭😭
They've pushed their own limits, refined themselves, found their places in the group and I think they each bring so much to the table severally and jointly that it's impossible to attribute the success of the group to just one individual.
That said, I think for some members, their role in the group should never be understated. The dance directors Hobi, Jimin, the song producers (Suga, RM), and the social engineers (Tae, JM) whose love, kindness, patience, understanding and humanity kept them together for so many years as a group. Left to the ghetto ninjas like Jin and JK they wouldn't talk to eachother let alone vibe cos who has time to nurture relationships when they could be playing video games all day of their lives🥴

Since I started stanning bts as a Jimin bias, this year is the worst of my stanning experience. We worked so hard during face. We faced the worst hate train. Ot7 turned on him, ot6 akgaes were writing defamatory articles on pannkpop, YouTube, hanteo, Spotify, billboard, rapline stans were the most miserable, releases dropping left and right, still we moved on. We matched on because jiminie is worth it. All that hardwork for what??
YouTube suddenly remembering to function properly? Radio and ads are fine now?? I deactivated my Twitter and tumblr yesterday but I’ve been so worried about jiminie that I came back on tumblr nothing less than 24 hrs to check up on him…I promised myself to stay away until his birthday and support him in private because what’s happening right now is breaking my heart😭😭😭. I’m so hurt, we worked really hard for him and it’s all slipping away. I’m out of the loop, did jk really got more versions?
It's exhausting. It really is. But jimin deserves our support. Jimin gave his everything in this album and I'll support him till the end.
And jungkook is getting every f*cking thing in the book. Like they really had no faith in his talent and knew they had to do all this to pull numbers. How embarrassing that is.
They can't pay money for each and everyone of jk's comeback. At some point he has to do something on his own and then we'll just look at the difference.
Money is temporary but talent is forever. And jimin is blessed with talent from all areas. I know he'll be successful in the long run. Like people are saying that jimin's story is so similar to bts. Bts too got all this sabotages. All these people directing their hatred towards them and even then in the end who won? Bts.
Jimin's story will be just like that. This is what happens when you're the main character. Everyone tries to stop you but at the end the happy ending is under your name. Jimin's the main character in all these pathetic people's stories lol. Jimin will win in the end. I know this. His hardwork will pay off.
This fraud can't take hybe Or jungkook anywhere in a long run. The fall will hurt them a bit too much.

Sorry for the rant, feel free to ignore.
I love bts and I love all the members and I always have. But I can’t lie and say it’s not majorly disappointing when songs/works that seem like they least deserve it, end up with the awards or the records (though I’ve never personally cared for records much, awards are what’s actually important aside from the actual music of course, but kpop fabdoms are obsessed with records and numbers so it’s easy to fall into that)
Like I remember feeling it most strongly with dynamite. Sure it’s a fun song to listen and dance to, but it being the first bts song to be nominated for the Grammys? And it being their first song to land a #1 on the hot 100?
And I understand popularity, and success in the US specifically plays a role in this but that’s kind of my point.
The songs they quite literally poured their blood sweat and tears and that we can literally hear and feel every emotion from them will never achieve the kind of things songs like dynamite or butter do. And what’s worse, is that bts become recognized for those songs. And the reason for it is quite literally because of how close minded a lot of people in America are.
I feel like an anti for saying this, and that’s because of my disappointment and also due to the fandom calling anyone who thinks this way an anti, but it does get pretty frustrating especially when the fandom acts like certain songs are giant masterpieces when actual masterpieces made by bts exist.
I always tell myself it’s not that deep and who cares which songs are more successful because in the end, it doesn’t change who they are and what they do but then shit like bang od saying “we’re gonna focus on America” or whatever happens and it’s like “are you fucking kidding me?”
And it’s not that I have anything against jk (he’s literally in ny bias line and I’d feel the same way if it was any other member) but the idea of his most popular and successful work all being tied to that fucking man and those being the most successful soloist songs are so frustrating for me and they shouldn’t be but they are.
Like I love all of jk’s other music and he has one of the most beautiful voices I’ve ever heard, but it’s not those songs that are ever gonna get a lot of attention. It’s the ones he chose in America and the ones he’s tried on different people’s style rather than his own (since he’s still trying to figure out his, he’s said)
And that’s his choice and everything and as a fan I should respect that but it’s like…he has so much more potential than just being another basic American pop singer though that seems to be what he wants. It shouldn’t bother me but it does and I hate that, because who cares? He’s happy and it’s not like it’s bad music, so there shouldn’t be an issue. (But the kind of disappointment still lingers, and it hasn’t stopped since dynamite ngl. Like since dynamite a lot if things have happened with bts and now with their solo projects and if I’m being 100% honest, I saw that coming way back in 2021.)
Also here’s where I know I sound like an anti but it feels unfair that this English American produced and written by big names album will be compared with the other members’ solos by literally everyone.
Like they’re not on the same level at all in terms of promotion, and in terms of the target audience, but this fact will be ignored by everyone except for bitter antis but then those guys will focus on trying to prove “jungkook actually secretly sucks” (which is bs because he is insanely talented and he puts in so much effort into everything he does ) instead of the simple fact that “an album like golden is completely separate in every way from albums like jitb, indigo, face, d-day, and layover (and what ever Jin’s gonna come up with when he gets back)”
Idk maybe I am being one of those bitter people because I tend to be rapline biased (and v biased when it comes to vocal line) but I just don’t see it as a fair comparison.
The biggest music industry in the world is America and golden is made for America and American charts and American audience. Comparing it with albums not really made or advertised much outside of Korea/the Asian market doesn’t seem right.
And the thing is, Jungkook’s album would probably be one of the most successful even if it wasn’t mostly American or wasn’t targeting a western audience. The difference is that I wouldn’t have felt this way because yeah he deserves the success and it would be on the same level as the others.
But here, it feels weird. Because it’s not. Not pointing it out feels like anti behaviour, but also not saying so I don’t get criticized and hated feels like it’s a bit of a cult (if that makes sense)
I know I shouldn’t take this seriously and it’s usually easy for me to not get bothered and remind myself kpop isn’t worth all that, but sometimes things do get frustrating.
ESPECIALLY when you learn about all the sabotage certain members got from certain people/areas that other members did not.
Because several members did face sabotage or did unfortunately not receive the fandom’s full and proper attention or care and that too plays a major part in how the albums succeed, and also in how bothered I get.
Because nothing about this equal.
At the end of the day, all 7 of them are successful as a group and as soloists and they all deserve all the success and appreciation so there’s that I guess
Hi anon! First of all, sorry for the late reply, I was trying to let Jungkook’s album marinate a bit so I could clear my head about it too.
I wanna start saying that it IS unfortunate that most of BTS masterpieces will never get the treatment that the english trilogy got, and it pains me because their korean songs and lyrics are some of the most beautiful pieces we could get, but as you said, Americans— or better, the western industry is still full of prejudices and xenophobia, a korean song will never have the chance to shine like a full english one because the western industry doesn’t put them on the same level. And it’s awful, really. (Even though I liked Dynamite but that’s because it was a happy song that those times needed)
I don’t think it makes you an anti saying that, I don’t think it makes you an anti having a different opinion from the fandom (I’m a tae biased, I have lots of diff opinions and the fandom hates me for all of them ahaha), I didn’t care about charts either but ironically because of the success of the english trilogy, BangPd /Hybe had a Eureka moment and since that moment they tried to recreate that success in every way they could, with every group they could.
Regarding Jungkook, he told us he wanted to try different genres and wanted to become someone who could do multiple different things, I think he kinda succeeded in it with Golden (I say kinda because at the end of the day, he didn’t really try different genres but just pop and pop sub-genres), to be honest I thought he achieved that with Seven already, which was/is a smash hit, and because seven happened scooter obsession started, Bang pd money hungry ass got interested, and here we are. I do think Jungkook likes Golden, I don’t think that’s the best he can do, I don’t want him to think that if one day he’s gonna release a self-written album he should expect a different reaction/support for it, because western support is not the most important (i mean, look at Layover) and the US market is not the only big market in the industry (Asia markets are very big too)…
Because the fandom became very chart driven you will always see those kind of comparisons, even though they are unfair because it’s not the same promo, not the same company support, not the same radio push, versions, remixes, etc etc etc… So I’d say to ignore people who compare stuff like that, at the end of the day it’s just wasted energy and akgaes got lots of free time. But yeah, I hope one day the other members will have a smooth release day like Golden, without sabotage :)
