It's just... The fact that Moiraine sacrificed their relationship and Lan's trust in her rather than letting him die with her.
It doesn't matter if he hates her, if he hurts, if he replaces her: she doesn't want him to die. He has to live. It says a lot coming from someone who objectifies people and sees them as pawns in the battle against the Dark One. She's willing to sacrifice everyone and herself, but not him.
She loves him so much that she is very much ready to tear apart this love to let him live.
They made a death pact in New Spring out of despair and for 20 years they were fine with dying together for their mission, sustaining each other in this suicidal quest. They ended up actually living in the meantime. And then, he changes thanks to Nynaeve: dying for something isn't the most he can hope for in life.
Except she hasn't changed. So now she will die and he won't.

Staying up until two in the morning snacking on raw cookie dough while writing incredibly angsty fanfiction and waiting to have my heart ripped out by Andor is normal adult behavior, right?
Asking for a friend.

Here is a tiny sneaky peeky at the fucked up shit I’m working on rn:
Baby blue eyes seem to remain open and peering up at his brothers, a look of fear permanently etched but not yet noticed by anyone but Ichiji who was waiting patiently for a blink to indicate life still lingered in his baby brother’s fragile body.
Nothing. Not another blink nor another small raise of his tiny chest to indicate anything other than the stark realization Ichiji was forced to accept.
Sanji was dead. They’d beaten him to death without ever meaning to do so.

Big fan of when a character's grief/trauma/guilt manifests as physical symptoms. Big fan of characters keeping things so tight inside them that it makes them sick. Big fan of when the line blurs between a character's mental trauma and physical illness until it's hard to tell which is which anymore.

Thinking about this line from Cazador and what implies:
I keep thinking about how strange and new must have been for Astarion to finally be surrounded by people who actually listen to him and no one there to punish him for speaking up.
How it must have felt for him to be able to freely joke around and find that Tav actually laughs at his jokes and even joins in the fun. How new it must have been to be able to express himself and have people who actually listen to him and don't treat him like he is a nuisance, but truly listen to what he has to say.
I imagine a Tav who just listens, even when he is complaining and whining on purpose, they listen and maybe smile a bit between themselves because they've seen through him, and they never tell him to shut up, they let him vent, they listen to his stories about Cazador, they laugh with him at his jokes.
No wonder he falls so hard for Tav or becomes very fond of them in a friendship route.
After 200 years where even the Gods didn't care to listen, he has found someone who sits down with him and hears him out.
