Uchiha Shisui (Naruto)

We all been knew 🥴 to me, Shisui is just the perfect kind of character to play protagonist with, with enough badassery and charm to come out on top but with the sweetness and the last scraps of his idealism to soften his edges. Kishi, however, threw him down the toilet at the nearest opportunity (which was just so 🤌bullshit🤌 I'm almost - almost- impressed) because he realised he Gone Fucked Up making this amazingly powerful character with no hint of him in prior work so 🤡 canon is dead, Shisui lives forever

Finn (Star Wars movies)

Anyone who's had the misfortune to follow me or has browsed my AO3 bookmarks knows I'm a wreck for Commander Cody and for Obi-Wan but I'm not choosing either of them? How??? Because Finn... FINN, he was literally raised to be canon fodder but he had this deep rooted fear that what they were doing was wrong and he didn't shoot and he took that fear and he knew he had to run. So often we wanna be brave in those moments but in actual fact we just panic, which is what Finn did... And yet he was so brave too? He saved Poe, he fought viciously for Ray, he joined the Rebellion, he met these people for minutes at a time but had already impressed them on his soul, on who he was going to be (and he'd only had a name as of that day???). Finn should've been the protagonist of that trilogy, the sequels were just...well, and I'll die on this hill that Finn's force sensitivity reaalllly should've meant something 😩 I love so many SWs characters but Finn is really the one that got me to actually attempt my own Fics too!

Chapter 2 - All The Feels

So @littlequeenofthemangoes had mentioned the amount of hard-hitting lines in this chapter, and I wanted to share my personal favourite part:

In most adventure/fantasy books, there's always a Chosen One™, a Hero, who is so because they possess some sort of special quality that sets them apart from the rest. And I found it interesting how Tolkien made a point of saying "Actually, Frodo isn't particularly special, nor smarter or stronger or whatever else than others. He simply is chosen because it happened that way, and that's life, and he just has to deal with it".

You can argue that, yes, Frodo is particularly ~queer~ and adventurous for a Hobbit, and as the story progresses we will see how truly resilient and compassionate he is. But this is such an important detail to me because, we see these stories of extraordinary people doing extraordinary things and think, "sure of course they can defeat the Big Bad, they were made for that". But Frodo is just a little guy. A slightly strange, adventure-prone guy, yes, but nothing more.

And he knows it. Gandalf knows it. AND YET HE GOES AND DOES THE THING. Literally the definition of "do it scared".

And yeah, idk, I have a very soft spot for the Hobbits 🥺🥺🥺 Little Frodo being so brave despite the horrors (which haven't really begun yet), and Silly Sam just happy to see some elves 😭🥺

But dang, yeah, isn’t it sad?? These delightful, soft-hearted little people who love nothing more than food and song and family and peace getting chucked into the miserable hell-hole that is war. Especially Frodo, who goes into this a pacifist and comes out even more of one. Tragic, really.

Yesterday I finished Return of the King, which means I officially finished my first read through of the Lord of the Rings trilogy! This is a huge deal, not only because I’m a big LOTR fan, but also because I started reading the trilogy in 2015 while at sixth form college and… yes, it’s taken me 7 years to finish all the books. In my defence, I read both Fellowship and Towers in 2015 (although I confess I skimmed the Elrond’s Council chapter because my brain is not smart enough to slog through the entirety of that, I’m sorry, I know I’m a bad fan!), but when I tried to read Return of the King I just couldn’t get into it because I didn’t have long enough to actually sit down and read it properly. I think I’ve actually gotten better at reading and understanding the lore of LOTR since 2015, just through my own maturity (17 is very different to 24 in terms of maturity and understanding) as well as rewatching the films. Point is, I had Christmas to get stuck in ROTK, and though it’s taken me a while thanks to work and other commitments, I loved it and actually want to reread the whole series again (maybe after I’ve tackled the Hobbit)

Anyway, while reading the last few chapters, I found a few small moments I loved, and I wanted to share them with everyone.

I just love Merry. I love Merry so much. He’s like “well if you’re going to be a dick, I want my pouch back, twat”.

BILL THE PONY AND SAMWISE 😭❤️ I absolutely love the way Sam loves Bill and won’t go to bed until he’s seen the pony again. We don’t deserve Samwise Gamgee!

I love Sam and Rosie’s relationship, I wish there was a little more of it. “You haven’t hurried, have you?” - LMFAO

Nooo not Sam crying over the dead trees 😭 HE IS TRULY TOO GOOD FOR HIS WORLD AND OUR WORLD TOO

Also, I loved seeing Merry and Pippin be heroes during the Scouring of the Shire chapters, just seeing them both take charge and how grown up they both became from the adventure they went on… all four of our hobbits are brave and courageous and amazing, but those two really stepped up and showed themselves to be capable leaders in a dire situation.

the character ask game: sam from lotr, and kili from the hobbit (yes i have a crush on the latter do not mock my suffering)

First impression: I don’t honestly remember my first opinion of him when I first read the book, or when I first saw the movie. I think I was pretty excited about him though because he was one of my mom’s favorite characters, and I thought he was cool :) (I first read/watched lotr back in 7th grade, so…kinda dim memories lol)

Impression now: I love Sam; he’s such a great character and is so loyal and amazing. I will confess, he does annoy me a bit at times BUT ONLY BECAUSE I HAVE A FRIEND (the same friend who recently joined tumblr, actually) who would always claim that Sam was the best character and that he was way higher than anyone else, and that irked me because not everyone’s favorite character has to be the character you’re supposed to like the most. So sometimes I’m reminded of that…(but this was years ago, again, and she’s much different now)

Favorite moment: THE SAMWISE THE BRAVE MOMENT, because the musiiiiicccccc. Also the part where he remembers Rosie dancing—“she had ribbons in her hair” 😭😭😭

Idea for a story: hmmmdehmmm…well I’ve always wanted to know just exactly what Sam said to Rosie in that scene when they get back to the Shire; so that would be a good idea for a fic :)

Unpopular opinion: He should have been just a wee bit nicer to Gollum; yes, Gollum was despicable and awful, but in the books he was actually fairly decent for a few chapters, and Sam flat out refused to even give him a chance. :/ I always feel really bad for Gollum, especially after listening to Gollum’s Song a number of times (I’ve seen that it’s a conversation between Gollum and the ring, but I think it could also be between Gollum and Sméagol) and it always makes me a little sad to see Sam just not even give him a chance

Favorite relationship: ROSIEEEEE

JUST LOOK AT THEMMMMMM (they had thirteen children, by the way!!)

Favorite headcanon: uhhhh….ok I actually really liked that one post I reblogged recently about Sam thinking Elves would die if anyone was mean to them, and trying to protect Legolas.“Mr. Sir Blond Elf Prince” 😂😂😂

Favorite moment: well…I really like the part where he goes absolutely insane after Fili dies. It’s so sad, but at the same time he just snaps and it shows how deep his devotion for his brother is :(

Idea for a story: definitely NOT the cheesy one that I myself wrote, but definitely an au where he and Fili meet Merry and Pippin…and maybe some more people *coughs and looks at the thing I’ve been working on for several months*

Unpopular opinion: I liked the Tauriel relationship thing. (The love triangle was a little much, but Kili and Tauriel were pretty cute).

Favorite relationship: his crazy I-could-kill-you-but-we’re-bros-so-I-won’t relationship with Fili XD

Favorite headcanon: well hhhHHHHMMmmm…I think he would really like Cosmic Brownies (stupid, but I couldn’t think of anything lol)
