If you've still been getting porn bots in your notifs, that's no surprise. BUT. The ones I've gotten today seem to have upgraded to be possibly more dangerous. They're including links in their bios. If you see any of their bios have light blue letters/words, or that it gives you the option to click when you hover over them, DON'T.

They're all bitly or tinyurl links, so you'd think there's no way to check it, right? Wrong! Hover over the link and RIGHT click. Not left. That will open the page. Select "copy link address" and then post it into a new browser, but DO NOT press enter yet! Instead, after the url, put a +. For example, instead of test-test.com you would do test-test.com+ Then press enter, and it will let you check what the link is before going to the website, to make sure it isn't a virus or malware. Stay safe, and remember to keep reporting the bots for spam!

Evidence of being a bot-

Their first post was reblogged yesterday. Their blog is entirely fandom reblogs, the only original post is the donation link. They reblog almost exclusively original fandom posts, meaning they aren't reblogging posts that the people have followed have reblogged, which I imagine is what most people do. To me this reads like the bot went though a fandom tag and reblogged every post in it. Additionally none of their posts have tags added, which isn't inherently a red flag, but definitely adds to the 'lack of personality' I've seen so far.

No details provided about who this person is. Personally I'm against providing details online, but usually blogs have a name (even a fake one!) or age or at least their interests in their bio. In the case of legit donation posts, people usually include images or proof, to catch attention if nothing else.

Their profile pic and blog header are both AI generated. This is something a normal blog could do, but combined with all the other red flags I'm adding this to the list. It comes across as way to imply personality without having to actually spend time coming up with a believable personality.

The ask for donations seems iffy to me too. I'm not as experienced with recognizing AI writing as AI images, so I can't say for sure, but im fairly confident this was compiled by AI. It's pretty vague (what ovary surgery??? It's breast cancer why are you having surgery on your ovaries??? Why do you need PT for your left arm?) and says the link is below when it, very clearly, is not.

Anyways long story short I am 99% sure this is a bot, yall should make sure to report and block any similar messages you may get

Heeey. Anybody else getting the weirdest fucking bot spam comments on AO3??

Just checked my mails to 50+ new comments, each on a different fic, a minute apart, from an anon with a regular girls name (but also all of those different from each other) and each just posting what looks like a key smash and then the tiniest, shortest url I have ever seen (which, ALSO different on each comment).

I can't even figure out what could POSSIBLY be the goal/gain here?? It's just weird???

So! Bots are extra active today. In the span of about 2 to 3 hours I have been followed by a bunch of bots AND sent dms by 3 of them + got an ask from a different one.

Just a general fyi that if a bot follows you, please please please block and report them (report as spam!)

If you're not blocking them because you want a higher follower number then consider that

No one here cares about how many followers you have

No one can even see that information anyways

If you don't block them, they will send malicious links / nsfw content (I received a full on nude) to the blogs that interact with you.

As usual, if it is a pretty girl she is, unfortunately, a bot that wants to give you an internet sti. And if there is a default icon + default theme, then that is a bot that isn't even trying.

Either case, block and report both.
