TikTok In The Mix: The Ultimate Concert Experience

TikTok, the leading destination for short-form mobile video, hosted its first-ever live concert event on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the Mesa Amphitheatre in Arizona. The event, dubbed TikTok Live, featured a star-studded lineup of some of the most popular artists on the platform, as well as surprise guests, special effects, and interactive elements. Here are some of the highlights from the unforgettable night.

Cardi B: The Queen of the Night

The headliner of the event was none other than Cardi B, the Grammy-winning rapper and TikTok sensation. Cardi B made a grand entrance in a glitzy red egg, reminiscent of Lady Gaga’s iconic 2011 Grammy appearance, and dazzled the crowd with her red sequined outfit, a tribute to the late Latin legend Selena. Cardi B performed a medley of her biggest hits, including “WAP,” “Bartier Cardi,” “Up,” and “Bodak Yellow,” as well as some of her viral TikTok songs, such as “Up.” Cardi B ended her set with a bang, literally, as she lit up the sky with a spectacular fireworks display, leaving the audience in awe.

Niall Horan: The Heartthrob

One of the most anticipated acts of the night was Niall Horan, the former One Direction member and solo star. Niall Horan charmed the crowd with his acoustic guitar and his Irish accent, as he sang some of his solo hits, such as “Nice To Meet Ya,” “Heartbreak Weather,” and “Slow Hands.” He also treated his loyal fans to a nostalgic moment, as he performed a solo rendition of “Story of My Life,” one of One Direction’s most beloved songs. Niall Horan also showed his appreciation for his fans, thanking them for their support and love, and expressing his excitement to be back on stage after a long hiatus.

Charlie Puth: The Multi-Talent

Charlie Puth proved once again why he is one of the most versatile and talented artists in the industry, as he delivered a stunning performance that showcased his vocal, instrumental, and songwriting skills. Charlie Puth sang some of his most popular songs, such as “Attention,” “How Long,” and “See You Again,” as well as some of his recent TikTok hits, such as “Light Switch,” which has spawned a viral dance challenge on the platform. Charlie Puth also surprised the fans with a special guest appearance by Jungkook, the member of the global phenomenon BTS, as they performed a duet of “Left and Right,” a song they co-wrote and released exclusively on TikTok. Charlie Puth also paid homage to Selena, as he sang a beautiful cover of her song “Dreaming Of You,” as well as other covers of songs that have been popular on TikTok, such as The Kid Laroi’s “Stay” and Mario Winan’s “I Don’t Want To Know.”

Anitta: The Brazilian Bombshell

Anitta brought the heat to the stage, as she performed some of her catchy and sexy songs, such as “Envolver,” “Girl From Rio,” and “Me Gusta.” Anitta also showed off her impressive dance moves, as she performed the choreography that has taken TikTok by storm, along with her backup dancers. Anitta also joined forces with Peso Pluma, the regional Mexican music superstar, as they performed their new collaboration, “BELLAKEO,” for the first time ever. The song, which mixes reggaeton and cumbia, is a perfect example of the diversity and fusion of music that TikTok celebrates.

Offset: The Special Guest

One of the biggest surprises of the night was the appearance of Offset, the member of the rap trio Migos and the husband of Cardi B. Offset, who wore a Michael Jackson-inspired outfit, performed his solo hit “Bad and Boujee,” as well as some of his songs with Migos, such as “Walk It Talk It” and “Stir Fry.” Offset also joined Cardi B on stage for their collaboration, “Clout,” and showed their love and chemistry as they kissed and hugged on stage.

Reneé Rapp: The Mean Girl

Reneé Rapp gave the fans a sneak peek of what to expect from her upcoming role as Regina George in the film adaptation of Mean Girls, the hit Broadway musical based on the cult classic movie. Reneé Rapp performed her song “Pretty Girls,” which is one of the songs from the musical, and showcased her powerful vocals and sassy attitude. Reneé Rapp also hosted a Mean Girls-inspired fashion show, where some of the audience members got to strut their stuff on LIVE, wearing pink outfits and accessories.

Kaliii: The TikTok Queen

Kaliii is a talented singer and rapper, who has released several songs that have gone viral on the platform, such as “Area Codes,” “Savage,” and “Buss It.” Kaliii performed some of her songs live, as well as some of her famous TikTok dances, and had the crowd hyped and energized. Kaliii also interacted with her fans, answering some of their questions, giving them advice, and expressing her gratitude for their support.

LU KALA: The Rising Star

LU KALA is a Canadian singer and songwriter, who has been running up the charts in the pop scene with her catchy and empowering songs, such as “Hotter Now,” “No Smoke,” and “Want You.” LU KALA performed some of her songs live, and showed off her amazing voice and stage presence. LU KALA also shared some of her personal stories and inspirations, and encouraged the fans to follow their dreams and be confident in themselves.

Sam Barber: The Country Boy

Sam Barber is a country singer and songwriter, who hails from Missouri. Sam Barber rose to fame on TikTok, where he posted videos of himself singing and playing guitar, and gained a loyal fan base. Sam Barber performed his hit song “Straight and Narrow,” which has been used in almost 100k videos on TikTok, as well as some of his other songs, such as “Home” and “Wildflower.” Sam Barber also gave a shout-out to his hometown and his family, and thanked the fans for their love and support.

Isabel La Rosa: The Elevate Artist

Isabel La Rosa is an artist from TikTok’s Elevate program, which is a initiative that aims to support and amplify the voices of emerging and diverse artists on the platform. Isabel La Rosa is a singer and songwriter, who has a unique and soulful style, influenced by R&B, pop, and Latin music. Isabel La Rosa performed some of her songs, such as “Older” and “I’m Yours,” and impressed the fans with her vocal range and charisma. Isabel La Rosa was also accompanied by her brother and musical collaborator, Thomas, who played guitar on stage.

DJ Shaq: The Legend

The event kicked off with a bang, as the surprise guest DJ Shaq took over the decks and played a mix of hip-hop, EDM, and rock songs, that had the fans dancing and jumping. DJ Shaq, who is also known as Shaquille O’Neal, the NBA legend and Hall of Famer, showed his skills and passion for music, as he hyped up the crowd and made them laugh with his jokes and antics. DJ Shaq also gave props to the other performers, and expressed his admiration for TikTok and its community.

In The Mix Live had something for everyone from amazing performances and moments that made this night unforgettable.

When Your Kid Sings The Wrong Song

I don’t listen to a lot of secular music. I avoid cursing or sexual provocativeness in music. However, I do listen to music talk shows. I listen to Everyday Struggle and the Breakfast Club to connect with young people. The music talk shows regularly featured the rapper Cardi B. Her song Bodak Yellow kept coming up in conversation. I decided to review the song on this blog. I thought, “Maybe I could take something from the song and relate it to the gospel?”

Naw! After listening three times to the song, I determined that I could not write about it to our audience. There was just too much cursing and sexual innuendo for me to write about it. So I left it alone…or so I thought.

Unbeknownst to me, a hook in the song stuck in my consciousness and I repeated it a few times around the house. The singer says in the song, “I make money moves!” I don’t remember saying it in front of Kourtney but obviously, I did.

Kourtney is my oldest, she is 3 going on 30. Nadia is my baby and she is 1. Kim, my wife, takes Nadia to the baby changing station in the woman’s restroom. Kim didn’t have any pockets, so she gave Kourtney $20 to hold onto while she changed Nadia. Then it happened in front of everyone who was in the bathroom with my angels. Kourtney while proudly holding the $20 in the air began River Dancing and chanting, “I make Money Moves! I make Money Moves! I make Money Moves!”

My wife turned several shades of pink brown thru the experience. Tony Ares got a stern message in the car. I had a nightmare that Kourtney did that little routine as we visited my home church.

Why do I share? I don’t think the mistake was made by me listening to the song. I think that my mistake was forgetting that I was handling a poisonous snake. EXPERT snake handlers never let a venomous snake out of the cage. I should have never repeated the verse.

A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. That means a little bit of sin spreads like a contagion. A little bit of sin can sneak in and destroy an entire family. Like an undercover cop in a drug cartel, we have to stay in the street but Christians can never forget who we truly work for.

We all need to be careful. “Making Money Moves” is just a start. The world system is always trying to plant its seeds within you. Don’t let their seed grow. If it grows….you will be harvested!

1. If it’s 1am and you’re still awake and wanting to talk to someone, who do you call and what do you talk about?

Probably Niall. He does most of his studying from 9pm to 4am, so he’d definitely be awake. As far as what we’d talk about... I’d probably nag him for a bit, then he’ll tell me about his boring physics mates and then I’d fall asleep.

2. Are you part of any fandoms? Or at least a big fan of something in particular?

I quite like Harry Potter! Usually reread the series every summer. My favorite is the Goblet of Fire.

3. Are you the big spoon or the little spoon?

Neither. When Harry’s over it’s usually me on by back with his head on my tits. Quite annoying, but surprisingly nice. 

4. If you mum text you right now, how would that make you feel?

Annoyed. She only texts me when she wants me to come home or she feels like I’ve been spending too much money.

I’m... pretty damn close to being in love. Picked a good one to be (almost) in love with, I think.
