Reo deserves better than Nagi.

Still love them together though, I’ll allow ONE toxic ship in my life.

Hahahah Nagi really does have to up his game if he wants to keep Reo. Reo can be a Nagi simp all he wants. That’s his ego, after all. But I don’t want him settling for Nagi crumbs.

I’m also gonna take this as a chance to talk about Reo’s character in general. I see a lot of people in the fandom not liking Reo for revolving around Nagi, and I too was one of such people. But actually, if you think about it, it’s not that bad. From the very beginning, as shown in Episode Nagi, Reo was clear about Nagi being his ego.

Reo just wants to win the world cup. That’s his main goal, not being a striker. Blue Lock just happens to be all about strikers, so for a while Reo tried to be one. But he’s never really wanted to be a striker. He forced himself to become one, but that’s not what makes him happy.

Isagi also commented about this in the Germany vs England match. “If there are protagonists who want to score, then there are protagonists who wants to pass.” Reo is the latter, and just because he’s contented with passing, that doesn’t make him any less of a player. [I talked more about the definition of ego in this post, and it shows how Reo is not any less egotistical just because he likes to pass.]

If there’s going to be more character development for Reo, then I hope he’d become like Bachira. Like Bachira no longer needing Isagi, I want Reo to realize that he’s gotten stronger and no longer needs Nagi. And that even if that were the case, he can still choose to be with Nagi anyway.

He doesn’t have to attribute his growth as being purposely for Nagi. And I want him to realize that his self-worth doesn’t have to hinge on Nagi needing him. And after all that, he can continue to be a Nagi simp as much as he wants.

why did they shelve her was her design too hard to animate did she clip too much like what happened. why did they take my baby. for what reason. i've come to terms with the fact i will most likely never see her again but i wanna know why .

i would've been a mimi main in a different timeline i can tell you that much. c6 triple crowned, everything (she was going to be a 4* iirc so it would've been easier to get cons) i would've given her the enkanomiya shell catalyst....

i wanted her to be friends with the gang too. be part of the resistance and have connections to kazuha and gorou and beidou and visit the city and have just a vibrance that never fades even in the face of adversity - not out of a sense of naive optimism but CHOOSING to find the good things in the world and realizing that love is everywhere and you just have to look in the right places and maybe. maybe everything will be okay. not right away, but eventually.

What made you ship it?

From the very beginning of their interactions, they treated each other as equals. (Even this iconic food exchange met the principle of equal exchange in my eyes haha). They became partners who played side by side. In my opinion, they have become probably the healthiest ship in Blue Lock (from the very beginning of the series. Please, let's pretend for a moment that the Wildcard Kunigami doesn't exist)

What are your favorite things about the ship?

Oh, come on! The hero (who doesn't want to be a hero anymore) and the princess. Do you also see this great trope? Especially since in this case the roles can be reversed. This hero clearly needs help. And I love it with all my heart that it is Chigiri, our princess, who reaches for Kunigami himself. Ahhh my joy when they finally met after wildcard! "From now on, I'm gonna be keeping an eye on you. So, you better keep an eye on me too, got it?" *screaming*

And just like I can't be normal when they were dramatically separated during the second selection! I love everything about this scene. (And is it just me or does it sound much different when Chigiri calls Kunigami a hero?)

So what do I like about this ship? EVERYTHING. (with particular emphasis on what I wrote in point 1 - they are equal and it is beautiful)

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I feel like Chigiri's masculinity is too often forgotten in this ship. I understand that his slightly feminine appearance (especially with the bulked-up Kunigami next to him) can make Chigiri seem fragile and delicate. But he is also athletic and strong! Not only physically, but also mentally (after breaking his previous mental block, he really became one of the stronger characters and now it would be difficult to break him). As I mentioned, they were equal partners from the very beginning of their relationship. So let's not diminish Chigiri's masculinity because he is as masculine as Kunigami.

I hope this is a satisfactory answer 😅 I realize how much you love Kunigiri (as you should ofc)

I have some unpopular opinions. Sorry that they're long and became a bit ranty.

I like Igaguri and the Wanima brothers.

I wish Reo got more meaningful interactions with characters besides Nagi, it feels like atm he has no friends outside of Nagi (RIP Zantetsu, Chigiri is Nagi's friend but hasn't been shown as being more than "friend of a friend" with Reo). He's one of the best-written characters (especially whenever Nagi isn't in the scene), it's sad how he's so often reduced by some fans to just being a Nagi simp whose entire world revolves around Nagi and who will die if Nagi spends even a millisecond breathing the same air as Isagi.

Nagi and Chigiri's friendship is underrated and I wish we got to see more of it. It's just a genuine normal friendship, Chigiri is Nagi's first normal friend with no strings attached, they just became friends by fooling around. They even continue hanging out (with Bachira too) after Isagi leaves to see Tada-chan despite Nagi saying he was going to leave too.

Rin-Isagi is the most boring of all the rivalries in the series. Their personalities, designs and playstyles don't clash enough for what is seemingly set up as being the story's main rivalry. It also doesn't help how one-sided it is for most of the story and we don't get to see any of it after Rin acknowledges Isagi as a rival. They feel too similar atm, so it comes across more as a minor rivalry (like Niko-Isagi) instead of a major one (Kaiser-Isagi, Shidou-Rin).

Speaking of Rin rivalries, Rin-Bachira could have been a great one. Bachira needs a proper rival, he's pretty friendly with most of the relevant cast and outside of Isagi, none of his relationships with the rest of the cast really stand out except for him being a bit passive-aggressive with Rin and Shidou. He has a lot of personality, design and playstyle clashes with Rin that it would have been fun to watch/read. A bit of a wasted opportunity.

Hey @08theverysmallhuman here’s a fellow Igaguri fan. As for the Wanima brothers, I don’t really have much of an opinion on them. We haven’t seen big bro in a while.

And Reo is friends with Isagi! We don’t see them together much, but these two has had several meaningful conversations. This one is my favorite:

And oh, I’d love to see more of Nagi and Chigiri just hanging out. Maybe we’d get to see more of it if the manga shows us the aftermath of the Germany vs England match on nagireo’s side. I think Nagi and Reo are gonna have another conflict soon. When that happens, Chigiri can be there for Nagi.

As for the Rin-Isagi rivalry, I actually think it’s similar to Kaiser-Isagi but of a lower level since Kaiser is on a higher level. Both the Rin and Kaiser rivalries are similar in that Rin and Kaiser are basically just better versions of Isagi. What Isagi learns from both of them is a more advanced way of seeing the field–improved spatial awareness, so to speak.

And actually, I don’t think Rin is Isagi’s main rival. Rin is only the main rival in the Second Selection and u20 arc. In the NEL arc, the main rival is Kaiser.

After ch202, I think we’ll see more variety in the Isagi rivalries where it isn’t just Isagi vs Better Isagi. Isagi has achieved metavision, which is probably the peak of his spatial awareness weapon. Now, he needs to work on his physical skills to really be the best striker.

May I also push my agenda that Isagi’s main rival/final boss is going to be Bachira? Bachira is a very skilled player, and skills are what Isagi lacks the most. Not to mention the contrast in how they operate: logic vs intuition. There’s a lot of build-up for it too. I’m gonna have to write a meta on it someday.

And yesss, I also really want Bachira to have his own rival. Rin-Bachira would be interesting, but so is Kaiser-Bachira. But those two are already Isagi’s, so I hope the rival is a new character or a character not yet explored much. I’m hoping it’s Aomori’s Messi, Nishioka, who we are yet to see. Bachira-Ness and Bachira-Kurona would be good if author wants to explore Bachira’s midfielder potential. But personally, I prefer if it’s a striker vs striker rivalry. And seriously, among the list of possible striker rivals, only Bachira-Isagi has been built up a lot.

Idea for a story:

Hmmmm, maybe a fantasy au where Harley's a knight who's retired from being Joker's abused Jester and she ends up finding Ivy, a princess who was given plant related abilities after being involved in a recent incident and is now locked up in a high tower because of it, since the people from her kingdom fear her and her spoken plans of taking over the world with her nature powers. Harley saves her and they quickly become besties with eachother and later powerful girlfriends who bring chaos together wherever they go

Unpopular opinion:

I really like how she's a person who always has fun with her fashion and is always changing her outfits up into something new and exciting. I also really love the red and blue diamond tattoos she has surrounding her wrist from the live action movies and the little heart on her cheek too!

Favorite relationship:

Definitely the one with Ivy. She's nothing like the Joker when dealing with Harley and is the one who actually gives her a truly healthy and happy romantic relationship. Harley is also her only favorite human in the world, which is such a sweet fact

Unpopular Opinion:

The Mice lead by Jaq and Gus don't steal the scene in the 1950 Disney animated adaptation of Cinderella.

They bond with Cinderella due to the fact of being downtroden inside the Tremaine house (Cinderella abused by her stepfamily, the Mice persecuted by the cat Lucifer).

She helps them escape from mice traps and makes clothing for them.

They return the kindness by making a dress for her and finding the key to help her escape the attic where she is locked.

The begin the movie living with Cinderella in the Tremaine house, and finish the movie going to live with her in the Royal Palace.

They provided a family for Cinderella after she lost her parents.

They all experienced a journey from rags to riches together, without needing to be separated.

The Mice are protagonists alongside Cinderella. The point of the movie isn't the romance between her and the Prince, or her individual rise to royalty.

Is her friendship with the Mice. And i hope more members of the fandom understand that, and explore this point in their fanworks onward.

I do not like Rin and I find his character very annoying

Like shut the fuck up with that “lukewarm” shit oh my god! He is such a an egotistical brat! And like I KNOW having an ego is the whole point I 100% get that but oh my god whenever he keeps saying something is lukewarm I want to scream! 😂

I don’t think he is overrated! I just find him extremely annoying if that makes sense!
