I love it when women hate men. I love it when women are allowed to vent to each other about how horrible and creepy men are. I love it when women form friendships with and prioritize each other over relationships with men(whether they're attracted to them or not). I love it when women put men dni in their bios and on their nude photos and on posts on their blogs. I love it when women refuse to mollycoddle and accommodate entitled male feelings with "but this doesn't mean I hate all men, I know a few men who are great, I love my father/sons/brothers/uncles/male cousins/guy friends" I love it when women complain about men WITHOUT "not all men" being a disclaimer. I love it when women avoid socializing with/refuse to be around/befriend/get close to men because they know men can't be trusted. I love it when women make "kill all men" jokes. I love it when women offer absolutely no concern or care for men's feelings and if their misandry offends men whatsoever because why should we, men are the oppressor class who have raped and killed and abused us and kept us as subjugated as second-class citizens for millennia, they regularly mistreat us and the women in their own marginalized communities still every single day and make this world so much harder and more awful for us to be in, and if we choose to hate them and not spare them any sympathy then so be it, and I don't just mean "men as a class" either, you can be a woman who doesn't want to have anything to do with any man on an individual basis and completely cuts off men from her personal life too and ykw I will love and fucking support you in that because men deserve absolutely NOTHING from us. If they're so tough and strong then they can handle it just like they can handle being lonely. If you are a woman who hates men, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A LESBIAN AND/OR A TRANS WOMAN, then just know that I love you. I love you, I support you, and you are safe here.

Despite the whackiness of the special effects, there were a lot of dark themes thrown about in this episode, but none - I think - were darker than the conversation the Doctor had with who he thought was Donna.

The fact she baits him by using the information she's learned from his mind, that she lets him think the DoctorDonna showed her everything that happened with Flux and the Doctor's own mysterious origins. And it kills me because the Doctor hasn't been able to talk to anyone about this. Not in depth. Not at all. And they're finally in a body that can say stuff like love and hug with abandon, facing one of their best friends and she knows everything, the Doctor thinks, so for just a second the walls go down and he steps forward and he's about to unleash it all.

And then the mask comes off. And it's not Donna at all, but he's still stood there with everything on the tip of his toungue with no choice but to swallow it down again. To yell and kick and scream where no one can hear him. Just like it's always been.

This was exactly how I was hoping they'd incorporate Flux and The Timeless Child into the story. I'm really wishing they'll stick to these themes going forward, with the Doctor's guilt and anger finally bubbling up, because so much could be done with it.

For now though, I am just so happy we got this.

heyyyy x i was curious about your thoughts on felix's bathroom door being open the first time but closed the second time? me and my friend were talking about it and couldnt come up with a theory

been thinking about this nonstop since u sent it and i love that it fits into my theory that the bathtub scene is the apex of felix and oliver's relationship and also marks the beginning of the end. everything done after the bathtub scene (venetia, farleigh, his entire birthday) just shows oliver's faltering plan to get closer to felix. with every misstep he gets further and further from that moment in the bathtub with a part of felix inside of him.

coming back around to the closed door, i think there's something to play around with with the idea of felix leaving the door open deliberately the first time, or being conscious of oliver's eyes on him and choosing to close it the second time. whenever jacob or emerald talk about felix they mention that he's very aware of his affect on people and plays it to his advantage. oliver's attraction to him would be no secret and felix could very well have left the door open deliberately to entice prying eyes. furthermore, closing the door could be read as felix subtly exerting his power over the situation and only letting things progress and develop on his own terms.

mostly though, i think the door is closed to symbolize oliver's loss of that part of felix. he will never see him like that again. he will never be that close to him again. there's a desperation there, in the way that oliver hesitates by the door, but also a sense of pride. he won't open the door. he won't kiss felix when he gets the chance. he needs to be wanted. he needs to be hunted like the prey animal that he believes he is. these lies that he's telling himself, this reality that he's chasing, manifested into a physical object keeping him from the thing that he wants.

also the walrus vs fairy debate is funny but I feel many people miss the spirit of it. It says walrus OR fairy. By saying the walrus is a fairy you are ultimately trying to create a middle ground that does not exist. The spirit of it is to assume that your options are a genuine real walrus, or a genuine real fairy. It would be equally wrong to try and say "well the fairy could just be a person in a costume". You lose the spirit of the question.
