Hi, my name is Aisha, and this blog is dedicated to misogynoir! Misogynoir is a term coined by the feminist scholar Moya Bailey; it is defined as the intersection of racism and sexism as it pertains to Black women. Despite the fact that misogynoir is incredibly widespread and omnipresent in our day-to-day life, it is most often brushed to the side and ignored, due to Black women encompassing more than one marginalized group. But we also do positivity here, too! Regardless, if you're willing to educate yourself, welcome!
No cap I think if I was Smurfette I would go crazy living around only boys and being surrounded by only testosterone. Fuck the male fetish fantasy of this one girl in a world of maleness being surrounded by love, care, sympathy, and adoration by all the guys who only like her by virtue of her femaleness being a unique factor to her. In reality she would be a spectacle, despised, eaten alive. Being the only woman in the world, a world made for men, sounds like a nightmare to me. How about running away and finding a female or co-ed village, anything to have female companionship?
Hell, if I were surrounded by white men, all day every day, I’d eat myself alive. Or just jump off a bridge somewhere…into a river where I’d swim far away from that piggish hellish place.
I don’t know where my mind is going right about now.
HELLO FOLKS, I AM REPOSTING USING THIS ACCOUNT SINCE THE OTHER ONE ISN'T GETTING MY ATTENTION
Two weeks ago I was admitted to Hala AlShawa Medical Center after the assailants raped me and also killed my beloved father in an attempt to save me. Unspeakable violation continues to haunt me only to find out that on my return from the hospital they had killed my mother too having no idea where my sibling is since he is nowhere to be found. Right now I am being accommodated by family friends who intend to drop me at the Rafah camp which I’m not okay with since I’m planning to flee to Egypt where my relatives are and at the camp once I get in for one to be released for safe evacuation you need to have $7000 which I can’t afford. Life's burdens weigh heavy on my young shoulders as I navigate the harsh realities of existence. Your support will make a significant difference in alleviating the my suffering.

Newer yuri fans might not realize it but Sailor Moon was a MASSIVE influence on the genre. Mostly because of these two:
Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune, who were explicitly gay. They were a major part of season 3, Sailor Moon S, which was directed by Ikuhara. Who liked the characters so much he used them as inspiration for Utena and Anthy, who of course would go on to inspire many more lesbians both in anime and in western animation.
We can also thank Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune for giving us Cure Chocolat and Cure Macaron in Kira Kira Precure a la Mode. No really they are doing the same pose:
If you don't know what Precure is, it's something like Japan's version of My Little Pony, where it's aimed at six year old girls but is charming enough that it also has an adult fanbase. Anyway Cure Chocolat and Cure Macaron had a genuine love confession scene which is basically like if Rainbow Dash and Applejack outright declared their lesbian love to each other for every kindergarten aged girl in the world to see.
What I'm saying is Sailor Moon has been hugely influential to yuri in the past and is still hugely influential to yuri and introducing it to a new generation to this day.
Honestly it really does baffle me so much that someone can make a post like "there should be more women in media" which is an extremely basic and obvious statement and someone will inevitably say "this but with men" like have you been paying attention to the last several hundred years of western storytelling. It's like if I made a post saying "water is wet" and people started replying "this but with sand". like this isn't even about me being a lesbian it's just about the state of mass media in general.
I find it sad that goth(ish) m/w ships in media are usually represented as loving, equal and committed, when goth(ish) characters are used to represent various social anxieties in the context of their creation and even without that are generally seen as deviant from the norm.
Maybe there’s some out there, but I’ve never seen a m/w goth ship in media in which the Toxic™ dynamics and tropes of most w/m ships are replicated.
What’s more, usually the woman is the one who “wears the pants” in the relationship (Morticia, Crimson) but not in a way that hurts the man at all. She simply has a more dominant temperament but expresses it with affection (in their own gothy way) and care, not with control and abuse.
If anything, there’s only some of those weird off-putting w/m couple tropes when it’s one (1) goth dating a “normie”.
Me psychoanalyzing my own writing and how each three of my leading characters deal with dehumanization by both making them inferior and grandiose in different instances?
How one of them desperately wants to be stripped of divinity so she can just be properly and blandly human, another wants to live up to her positioning as a goddess, something she seems to have accepted out of duty but ends up desiring that inhumane perfection for the sake of her insecurities and ego, and how the third one simply revels on being inhuman as either a goddess or a monster?
I’m seeing a pattern that the only books I’ve ever felt passionate about are about characters who yearn for love, try to be kind and selfless to people for the sake of it, but are taken advantage of, alienated, and ultimately they meet a tragic ending they didn’t deserve.
The Wolf of Gubbio (it had little 2nd grade me crying real hysterical tears under the dinner table)
Has OP never heard of people being friends with others who aren't like them??? DId they perhaps step out of a high school rom com where everybody only hangs out with their clique? Come the fuck on now.
My mind still trying to fathom how Mai and Aang get along
Okay, I put the boy romance in my Thing. I almost half-assed it a little but it’s the most attention I can force myself to give any interaction that involves only male characters so, you’re welcome, boys. That’s enough activism for today.
the general state of media recommendation on tumblr makes a lot more sense once you conceptualize it as people going “which series has the best characters I can use as semi-blank slates to project fanon content onto.” like I suddenly understand why certain mediocre movies and shows will blow up for no apparent reason but really solid and like thematically aerodynamic stuff gets maybe five minutes in the limelight before fading into oblivion
Acting like weeaboos only focus on anime/manga characters is so ignorant… Do you guys realize how big the J-Pop and J-Rock industries are to this day?
Now Westerners have mostly switched to K-Pop which became mainstream all over the world, but while Japanese music remained “alternative” in the west in the 00s, it was still a huge thing.
There came a point in which people asked me if I was “visual” (as in a Visual-Kei fan) instead of asking me if I was a goth as a teenager, even more than they would ask me if I was into Evanescence or Nightwish.
Weeaboos absolutely were disgusting to real Japanese people, they didn’t obsess only over animated characters. If anything, every gross thing they thought and said about anime/manga characters, they 100% acted out on whenever they met an actual Japanese person, celebrity or not.
Most of those weeaboos are now koreaboos. If you find koreaboo behavior to be horrendous, then you can only imagine what weeaboo behavior was known to be like. They’re just a little lesser in numbers NOW.
Nowadays, most koreaboos are weeaboos simultaneously lol.
It’s at times like these when I see so many people show they’ve developed intense parasocial relationships with real people in the same way they do with fictional characters (theorizing about their lives, backstories and identities, claiming them as your “representation”, etc) that I realize the extent to which so many of you don’t interact with real humans regularly and only get any sort of sense of social interaction from interacting with fictional characters.
I mean, I get it because I’m an autistic recluse whose disability has had them on the brink of being bedridden for about 2 years now and we’re in the middle of a global pandemic, so it’s not like my social life is the most exciting one, but do none of you have *earth sign voice* common sense?
