Producer & Alpha Kappa Alpha Soror, Shay Caldwell Calls Out HBO Max For STEALING HER ‘Unfriendly Black Hotties’ Show After Execs Allegedly Told Her The Project ‘Stood No Chance’ “It strikes me as odd that the very project execs believed stood no chance with its title in the climate we live in would go on to find a life with the exact title and very similar content matter,” she wrote. #ShayCaldwell said she began receiving congratulatory messages from her industry peers who weren’t aware that she and her writing partner, Cassady, had been shunned from being part of their own project. “It was surreal to see my phone light up with congratulations from my peers and execs who know about my pitch about my project I did not indeed sell,” Caldwell continued to explain. “I thought long and hard about making this post, but I derived that we need to share our experiences about the let downs of this industry as up and coming #BlackNarrators. We talk so much about spearheading change, but the first step is speaking out when injustice is happening. #HBOMax has enlisted #KekePalmer, #JermaineCrawford, and #AmyAniobi to develop an upcoming comedy series titled ‘#UnfriendlyBlackHotties.’ The only problem is that the concept of the show was said to have been created by #TVProducer #ShayCaldwell, who is stunned that the same format she had pitched to the network has been greenlit without any of her involvement. Given the photos she provided in her post, Shay Caldwell makes it clear that ‘Unfriendly Black Hotties’ was a show that she developed alongside Cassady, and she trusts that executives at #HBOMax will find it in themselves to rectify the situation as soon as possible. Caldwell took to her Instagram where she shared a series of photos proving that ‘#UnfriendlyBlackHotties’ had been something she had been pitching in #Hollywood for the last two years, including potential cast members, mood boards, and more. One particular image showed a screenshot of an email from the #CopyrightOffice, which indicated she may have copyrighted the title, yet #HBO Max allegedly still went ahead and took her idea. #WeHelpEachOther #AlphaKappaAlpha #AKA1908 #AKASInHollywood @shaywatch https://www.instagram.com/p/CoGmmiYr7tK/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

According to Erica Still from “Prophetic Remembrance: Black Subjectivity in African American and South African Trauma Narratives”  and Marquis Bey and Theodora Sakellarides article “When We Enter: the Blackness of Rachel Dolezal,” Blackness can be defined as an impossibility, something that was never meant to exist within the racist confines of U.S. institutions and society, therefore presenting the space that Blackness lives despite being impossible as imaginary. Understanding Blackness a something that shouldn’t survive, it then explains and defends the institutionalized policing of Blackness through law creation and passing. The policing of traditionally Black hairstyles and dress is one example of such policing. Such laws do not come out of nowhere, however. The policing of Black bodies does not begin at the institutional level, but begins socially, when one part of the social part-the dominant part- begins to manage and restrain the rest of the social group. Latesha Byrd’s experience at work is an example of someone believing tow things: that their opinions, emotions, and view of things is more important than another’s, especially those that are interpreted as below them; that belief leads them to think that they have a right to direct the narrative of another’s emotions and experience

t @penciledcelebrities WHEN THEY SEE US... They once talked about freedom like it was a foreign thing. We were classified by the color of our skin, the tone of our voice or the hoods we lived in. We weren't set apart from the hooligans roaming aimlessly everywhere and when they saw us, they would point and whisper in each other's ears, "see those n*gg£%$!!" We were the bad examples that kids were told to stay away from. We got convicted for crimes just because we were racially profiled and fit into their description of criminals and animals meant to serve time in prison cells and cages. Sam Cooke said it best, "It's been a long time, a long time coming, but I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will". Things will change... The days of stereotyping where individuals were tagged because of their skin color would be nonexistent. The "hood" would be a place to live and not where hooligans and nincompoops nest. We can finally walk down the streets without being a risk to our own communities. We have the right to exist without constantly looking over our shoulders; We have the right to a fair trial; We have the right to be proud of our cultural uniqueness and skin color. When They See US, they will know that we are educated and know our rights as human beings. When they see us, they will know that we have the right to enjoy our freedom as citizens of the land of the free. #whentheyseeus #AvaDuverney #alllivesmatter #LindaFairstein #freedom #Wilding #Nypd #Framed #centralparkfive #Exonerated #penciledcelebrities #NotGuilty #Superpredators #BlackFilmmakers #blacks #BlackNarrative #BlackStories #BlackStorytellers #BlackDirectors #TheCentralParkfive #TheExonerated5 #TheExoneratedFive https://www.instagram.com/p/ByqMKItnn8s/?igshid=xra0mbd01qm3
