Because each alter is their own person with their own interests, different alters will know more about different topics than the other. We can explain something to someone, even if we (the specific alter fronting) doesn't really know what they're talking about, IF we have the alter who does know telling us what we need to know in order to convey it. It really REALLY sucks when they for whatever reason or another, disappear mid story. They take with them all the details and leave whoever is fronting to have to scramble to either finish the story, or find some kind of segue to something that they actually DO know about.

My last self portrait before top surgery next week, I deemed this appropriate using the Blackest Black acrylic (Black 3.0) while playing into the contrasts. The pink oils and the brilliant gold stand out amongst the void like darkness that surround the figures. This was a very vulnerable piece that I am still bracing myself to share. Coming to terms with my body now, before it is altered to be what I’ve always wanted, is very peaceful. It’s a mutual understanding with my past. Letting go of her but not saying goodbye. She’s not dead, so I’m not going to mourn her. She’s with me through it all and I hope she’s proud of me.

I also read on twitter/X that they presumably darkened her skin...to give it this more matte, cold tone....don't know about that, there is a good post on insta from darkest.hue about the idea of picking "the minority within the minority", "the blackest black" and just being a model is not enough, a lot of times agencies look for a "sad backstory", too. Fun comparison! The first image is Carbon Black acrylic from @goldenpaints. This is my go to black from my go to brand of acrylic paint. I LOVE carbon black, it is silky smooth, easy to work with and VERY DARK. Much darker than a mars or ivory. I always have it on hand, and it's still #1 in my heart for it's depth of dark and ease of use, plus the way it plays nice with other paint in general.

Here I compare it with Suminagashi 2, a painting I made using Black 4.0 from @culturehustle . It is the blackest paint I've ever used. It's a dark velvety void, and when I paint with it, I can BARELY distinguish my loaded brush from the surface. The brush tip just disappears into the darkness. You can really see how much darker it is in the following images.

Now I do love 4.0, but it is a bit hard to work with. It's chunky, cannot be thinned and really does clunk up the brush. It's pretty difficult to get thin lines. And because I cannot distinguish the brush from the paint already laid down, edge control can be tricky.

It's also dusty, but if I seal it, the dark effect is lost. this is presenting a problem, as the dust is catching in the surface texture of my panel.

However, it's incredibly cool! I think this paint will really shine in 3 dimensional applications, things done to confuse the eye. I want to make a box with tiny pin prick lights.

I want to try playing with a latex resist and a tape resist, see if I can get crisp thin lines that way. Really looking forward to using this paint more.

Musuo black and vantablack absorbed 99% of light that hit it. Making it almost impossible to see it at night!
