Taken the same day as the previous post, this was a trumpet vine (Campsis radicans). They are native to eastern North America wherever there are swamps, riverbanks, forests, and thickets. They bloom from June-September and are quite popular with the pollinators such as the American bumblebee shown. The Guinea paper wasp isn't really a pollinator, but they do like feeding from fresh trumpet vine buds since they have extra-floral nectaries. Once pollinated, the flower is replaced with a long beanlike seed pod as shown. Once ripened, they disperse 2-winged seeds that are carried by the wind. It should be noted that it's best to grow trumpet vines in eastern North America because outside their native range, they're an invasive species due to their aggressive growth. #plant #plants #vines #vine #wildflowers #wildflower #texasplants #texasplant #txplants #txnature #carpenterbee #paperwasp #bignonias #bigonia #texasnativeplants #texasnature #nature #flora #plantae #angiosperms #vascularplant #tracheophyta #asterids #eudicots #lamiales #bignoniaceae #campsisradicans #campsisradicans #trumpetvine (at Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/CkWxz53K__N/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Wonga Wonga Vine (Pandorea pandorana) is an australian native climber. This one was trying to strangle a grevillea at Heatherbrae’s Pies near Raymond Terrace. I suspect that the birds dropped it under the bush because i’m sure it wouldn’t have been planted there. I got some cuttings and will try to propagate it. It’s supposed to be a good butterfly plant. It’s related to other trumpet vine plants like lianas and is also related to the Jacaranda. Outback Aboriginal people used the vine to make spears to use with a woomera (spear thrower) because it’s very flexible. #flower #WongaWongaVine #PandoreaPandorana #vine

Taken the same day as the previous post, this was a desert willow (Chilopsis linearis), which isn't even a true willow. They can be found the southwestern United States and northern Mexico wherever there are sandy desert washes and sandy streams. They bloom flowers with shades that can be light pink to lavender during May-September. Once the blooming period is over, they produce beanlike pods, containing seeds with winged hairs, that remain until the following spring. #plant #plants #tree #trees #wildflowers #wildflower #texasplants #texasplant #txplants #txnature #shrub #shrubs #bignonias #bigonia #texasnativeplants #texasnature #nature #flora #plantae #angiosperms #vascularplant #tracheophyta #asterids #eudicots #lamiales #bignoniaceae #chilopsis #chilopsislinearis #desertwillow (at Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/CkT-HqMKfah/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Floral Friday #117
Bignonia capreolata(ビグノニア・カプレオラータ)という名前だそうだ。
