The Krewe of Orpheus, co-founded by Harry Connick, Jr., is one of New Orleans' super krewes. The musically-themed krewe was New Orleans first super krewe to allow both men and women riders. Their parade features 1500 riders on 38+ floats, including the massive (139 ft long) Leviathan float. They throw a variety of signature throws - including 4-foot stuffed dragons! - but their most sought after is a custom decorated tambourine. Following the parade, the krewe hosts Orpheuscapade, a black-tie musical extravaganza that is open to the public.

New Orleans property may or may not be haunted
Depending on which side of the street you're facing one French Quarter property is either haunted, or it's not. I walked by the "chic condo" at 726 Barracks Street in New Orleans and I noticed that one side of its "for sale" sign reads "Haunted" but if you look back the other way the same sign reads "Not Haunted." — Read the rest

When the Levee Breaks
I'm working on something... here's a taste. Stay tuned!
For the last year and a half I have been steadily working on a screenplay. For those of you who follow me, I think it’s quite obvious that the city of New Orleans won my heart long ago. Follow me on this journey as I tell a fantastical, fictitious tale (inspired by reality) of a bipolar young woman’s experience battling, discovering, and healing her demons. Stay tuned for updates as my…

Banned Books Week - New Orleans Authors/Playwrights Edition
The Children’s Hour - Lillian Hellman
“Showcasing the destructive power of lies, the play depicts the experiences of the headmistresses of a girls' boarding school, who are ruined by a malicious rumor that they are lovers.” - Jewish Women’s Archive. Hellman’s work was both a critical and commercial success, but was banned in Boston as “indecent,” in Chicago for “objectionable content” and in Britain for references to homosexuality. Hellman herself would later be blacklisted by Hollywood during Sen. Joseph McCarthy’s anti-communist crusade.
