here's a snip that is well over seven sentences from proposal au "the full spectrum of human emotion" because i CAN:

“Does ‘sweetheart’ do it for you? Any others I should know about?” Alex isn’t really all that surprised. Any time the pet name has slipped out in the past, he’s seen Henry’s face do a fun little pinch at the corner of his mouth. He tries to work the term of endearment in as much as possible, because he’s a messy bitch who lives for drama.  Henry clears his throat. “Alexander. I beg of you to not.” Alex forges on, a man on a very important mission. “Honey? Fucking gross, nope. Sugar? That’s what my mother calls me, so hell no.” He clicks his tongue. “Let me noodle on this. Gotta nail you down.” Henry’s flush works its way down from his ears to the base of his neck. A few more and Alex might even get it to go down to his collarbones. How exciting. “Hmm. Bunny? Too cutesy. Boy toy? Well—” “I’m older than you! I’m certainly not your boy toy. If anything, due to not only my age, but also our power dynamic, you’re my boy toy,” Henry huffs.  Alex tries not to feel a certain way about the words you’re my boy toy leaving Henry’s mouth in smooth, rounded vowels. He obviously fails. “I’d say boy toy feels age agnostic, but whatever you say, sweetheart.”

i present to you: alex meeting henry for the second time and his subsequent conversation about it with the mysterious H

As he walks into the classroom, he notices a seating chart on the whiteboard held up by a small magnet. His brain is only just processing that seating assignments are organized alphabetically when he reads his name, then the name next to his—Henry Fox.  “You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.” Of fucking course. Of course the one person Alex wants to avoid the most has not only chosen the same elective as him, but their last names are also next to each other alphabetically—in a class with alphabetical seating. Jesus fucking Christ.

Six Sentence Line Sunday

Hi, I'm late again. I did a lot more beta reading than writing this weekend, and also did myself dirty by drinking way too much coffee today which resulted in a stomach ache in a big way. Once the nausea receded and the fics were betaed, I finally wrote some words. Like five minutes ago, so, you know, not edited.

Here's six lines from Working Title: Daddy Issues:

“It’s lovely to meet you as well,” Henry says. “Now I know who to contact for embarrassing stories and the like.” Raf grins as Alex scoffs. “Please, June’s already got that covered.” “You can never have too many,” Raf argues. “Plus, there’s that time you called me asking about STD test centers—" “Fuck off, that was fucking terrifying,” Alex complains, though his smile still stretches across his face. Raf ignores him. “I was about to start the Ave María. I just knew Oscar was going to put some kind of curse on me for being a bad Gay Guide for not talking to you about testing earlier. Gracias a Dios, we both learned about allergic reactions to flavored condoms—” “O-kay, that’s enough,” Alex says, laughing. He looks to Henry, his face slightly bashful, as if to check that he’s not completely horrified.

(yes, this is a bit more than seven sentences, but, well, it's not Sunday anymore either, so let's follow the spirit of the meme and not the letter, shall we?)

He was afraid to know the answer, but he couldn't help asking.  "When you were married to Matthew, did you ever... I don’t know, ask yourself if you wanted another baby?" April shook her head vigorously. "No. Not at all. At first we were busy adjusting to being a blended family, to life with a baby and a toddler and parents who were still grieving." She swallowed hard, and he refrained from going to her. "It was never a thing we talked about, and I had other concerns. And then Covid happened, and between the chaos, the long hours, the distance... It was never a question." She looked at him and bit her lip, and he knew she wanted to ask but was afraid of his answer. "You know, I hated being an only child. And I know that she’s not, not really, that Samuel is her brother, but I never wanted for Harriet to grow up without siblings she could play with, fight with, learn with. But after she was born, I never seriously entertained the idea of having more kids, because..." The next part was a bit difficult to say, and he lowered his gaze, suddenly feeling shy. "Because you and I were over, and I guess it never occurred to me to have more kids if you weren't their mother."

Well howdy my friends! Happy Sunday to you all <3 I hope everyone had a lovely weekend, and a big thank you as always to the amazingly talented writers who have tagged me this week, @junebugclaremontdiaz , @heybuddy-drabbles , @getmehighonmagic , @nocoastposts , @benwvatt , @tailsbeth-writes , and @hgejfmw-hgejhsf ! Guh, I love seeing everyone's snippets so much, and a few of you have fics posted that I have GOT to go get caught up on!! For now, I'm giving you guys a lil more of The Story of Us. This chapter got a little intense emotionally, but I'm very excited for the direction it's going! Without further ado, here's a small snippet.

The silence between them speaks volumes, is louder than words ever could be, and Alex refuses to break eye contact, hoping to convey how truly and honestly he means everything he just said. Henry surges forward then, pressing a deep, searing kiss to his lips. Alex threads his fingers through Henry’s silky hair, draws him in deeply and wills Henry to understand that he is loved, he is safe, and god, there’s not a lot Alex wouldn’t do for him. It’s too soon, though. Too soon to show all of his cards and give away his hand. Too soon to bring love into the mix when they’re having such a damn good time just exploring what they are.

I'm so sorry if y'all are sick of this au, but right now it's kinda my main focus as I really wanna stick with it and get it done! I'm going to go ahead and tag @zwiazdziarka , @duchessdepolignaca03 , @sparklepocalypse , @forever-fixating , @piratefalls and an open tago for anyone else who wants to join! “I began the book you recommended.” Henry said as he tucked his shirt in. “It’s flawed but interesting.”

“Get to the end before you judge it.” Alex replied, helping Henry straighten his tie. 

“Things should be worth it all the way through, not just at the end.” 

Alex paused to look at him. Henry had a way of saying off the cuff things that Alex would then churn in his mind for days.

If he had known Charlie back then, if they had been friends, if Nick had known that he liked boys as well as girls – that it was bloody okay to like girls and boys! It might not have been so hard for Charlie.

Nick thinks about what it would have been like to have had Charlie for a friend before now. He feels like now that he’s friends with Charlie — being friends with Charlie, just being around Charlie – he feels like he’s finally woken up. Like he was existing in a cloud of extra thick fog for so long, and it’s finally cleared.

Seven Sentence Sunday

I'm at it again with my fic for @aroyallybigbangrwrb which now has an official title: Simply put, to love you is to know you (title was all thanks to @benwvatt)

Without realizing, the paper is left forgotten as his eyes stay trained on Henry. He looks at his neat writing, the way his fingers moved around the touch-pad, how his ocean blue eyes move side to side across the screen. He thinks back to how he looked moments ago while talking to Rio and how he has never seen Henry like that. The huge grin on his lips, how relaxed his shoulders looked, how it only took him one look at Alex for all of that to come crashing down, how much that bothered Alex. That’s when something Henry said comes back to his mind when Alex brought up his family. You don’t know me like that. He wants to argue he does know Henry Fox-Mountchristen.

GUESS WHO'S BACK !!!! finally, after a 6 week writing drought, i have been making progress on my tumblr au! so enjoy this lil sneak peak of alex's anonymous ask and the first part of henry's response 😎

After watching two cinematic masterpieces—Shrek 1 and Shrek 2, of course—Alex feels much better. His sister always knows how to get him out of his own head. It’s 9 PM now, AKA prime tumblr-scrolling hours. This realization prompts Alex to open the tumblr app on his phone, sending a surge of nervous energy through his body. He doesn’t worry for long, though, because right at the top of his dash is H’s response. Alex slides into bed, pulling the duvet over his head to create a blanket cocoon, before beginning to read.

Hello, Anon. Firstly, thank you for this kind message. I’m glad my writing meant a lot to you. It’s nice to know that my sad gay pining isn’t completely useless. And don’t apologize, it’s okay to be nervous. I am quite the expert when it comes to being nervous, thanks to the anxiety disorder.  As for your question, I’m honoured that you trust me with giving you advice. Unfortunately, there is no way for me to definitively determine whether you’re queer or not, but I can offer you some anecdotes from my experience, and hopefully that will be helpful in some way.
