The biggest downside to writing for a character who knows a lot about physics, is that it hinges on you, the author, knowing a lot about physics.
Is it too much to ask for the technobabble to just appear in your brain?

I'm balls at telling the outfits apart what class is Hal? Also just generally curious about why you picked this classpect for him
hals a mage of mind in this au! as for the reason why, lets take a lil deep dive into my thought process here:
first the mind class, taking the description straight from the extended zodiac it says:
Those bound to the aspect of Mind are-you guessed it-the universe's great thinkers. But don't for a second think that means that they have all the answers. They are very concerned with remaining rational, and they have such a firm hold on the constant conjunction of their thinking that it's easy for them to see the multitudes of the choices laid out before them, which often leaves them frozen and unable to act. That said, when a Mind-bound finally launches into action, they can execute a plan with unbelievable grace and precision. Their identity is fluid-it can change from day-to-day, from thought-to-thought, from interaction-to-interaction. Remaining logical is more important to them than building up a solid foundation of "self." At their best they are great innovators, architects, and creators. At their worst they can be nasty, inflexible, and indecisive.
i always liked the idea of hal being a mind player. first off, its the opposite of heart aspect, which ties nicely with his and dirks relationship. mind is also about the changing of ones self and masks the character wears to hide their true self. hal goes through many changes in his identity - starting once as dirk, then being the autoresponder, then changing his name to lil hal. all the mind players we know about (in the og comics at least - idk how it looks in other media outside og hs) are also characterised by wearing some form of shades (tz and latula with their redglare style, u could also argue dirk wearing his ties into him being a prince of heart, therefore ghosting the mind aspect while destroying the heart), and as we all know, in famous words of the man himself, he is glasses. its not like, big thing that mind players have going on, and its pretty inconsistent with dave also wearing shades, i just always thought it was a fun thing to ponder bout. also, again, tying into mind players hiding their true selfes behind masks (ie. shades), and we all know that eyes are the windows into the soul...
mind is also strategic and manipulative - not always a bad thing, players of that class just know how to pull the strings to make their plans work, and how to alter decisions of others. i think the best example of that would be hals whole ordeal in the synchronize/unite sequence. you could also argue that through the rooftop convo between dirk and hal, hal actively manipulates dirks decision so he doesnt get rid of him.
honestly hals a tough cookie to classpect. he might as well be prince of heart as dirk - it also fits him well. it just so happens that tb!hal fits more into the mind aspect in this particular au.
him being a mage is also entirely tied into the turnabout au - for the og hal id say hed be maybe an heir of mind, if we went with this particular aspect? (inheriting the mind and being drawn to it, also becoming the aspect itself), but for turnabout hes the mage.
now mages are the active knowledge class, its passive counterpart being seer. while seers gain their knowledge through outside sources and guide other players actions, mages gain their knowledge through their own experiences and use it for themselves. mages also usually experience their aspects uniquely, and because of that gain a deep understanding of it.
hals situation in tb is very unique indeed - hes become an ai fairly recently, still struggling with his identity. he helps dirk with getting jane into the medium, and through the gained experience he plays a major role in getting dirk into the medium - which causes some... unexpected things to happen.

Why Manga Asura does not Work as the final antagonist
Tumblr media
Regarding the final bit of the Soul Eater Manga, there is a LOT that does not work.
Crona sacrifice and sealing the moon might sound good on paper, but it doesnt fit the themes of the story. Maka never really managed to hit the final note of her character development that anime Maka did, and at the very end regressed, as she rejected her father out of spite. Kid making peace with the witches was nice, but the manga never really delved into the conflict between shinigami and witches in full and what it truly involved, so the conflict being resolved was sorta half baked.
But one of the things i dont really see brought up that often is how the final villain Kishin Asura does not work. At least not the manga version of him.
He is frankly speaking, a terrible final antagonist for the manga. Not just as an actual character, but also on a thematic level.
Asura as a character all throughouth the story before the heroes encounter him on the moon, has been all about 2 defining aspects about him, two things that has defined his very being.
Overwhelming power, and fear. The Kishin that became THE moster of legend for the Soul Eater Universe, who killed and consumed his own weapon along with two other of Shinigami's Warlords(who may or may not have been great old ones as well) is legendary for his overwhelming power... But also being a massive coward.
Such a coward was he, that he eventually devoured his own weapon, his partner, rather than even risk the possibility that he might turn against him.
On paper, he sounds he is the perfect foil as an antagonist for the Soul Eater protagonist, especially the main character Maka. For a story that is defined by people opening themselves up to others, even despite the pain that might very well ensue from that, to have the villain be one who gave up on everything out of cowardice, and sought ultimate power in hope that it would lead to total safety for him rather than taking a risk on the dangers of life and bonds makes perfect sense.
However, there is a problem.
Tumblr media
Namely that while Asura has the overwhelming power down pat, the coward is essentially a complete informed attribute.
Tumblr media
While Asura has moments where he is seemingly terrified on the moon, this is not genuine fear. He is simply mocking the protagonists by showing "Fear" and basically saying "oh, how scary" in face of his foes.
It's not genuine fear. There is not a moment on the moon, where Asura is genuinely, honestly afraid of the protagonists.
Tumblr media
Hell, not even at the very end, as once again he's being sealed away, does he show a lick of fear at the prospect of once again being sealed away in darkness.
Instead he shouts definatly that fuck you guys, i'll be back!
This complete of lack fear has two massive problems.
The first is simply that he's a BORING character.
Manga Asura is a boring villain. He is every single, bland, overpowered final boss that plagues shonen as a genre, withouth anything that makes him stand out from the mold.
As such seeing his conflict with the heroes is basically them beating up on a brick wall... Only at least most villains in this mold does have the satisfying moment where they do break, while Asura remains undefeated, thus leaving no sense of closure.
He has no charisma, he has nothing interesting to say, and he is not particularily fun to watch.
Tumblr media
He is basically the exact opposite of his animated portrayal, who was a giant coward... But also had a surprisingly poigaint amount of things to say, having debates with his father during their final battle where the two beings who fundamentally could not understand bravery, tried to give their own viewpoints of what this bizarre thing could be.
Tumblr media
And of course, because anime Asura really was a giant coward, and all his fear was absolutely genuine, when he finally breaks down at the end, it feels satisfying on a story level, because we understand how he ticks, and what has lead up to this point.
But it goes beyond just the fact that Asura is a far more engaging and dynamic character in the anime.
There is also the themes which the story embodies, which are explicitly rejected by the manga version.
Tumblr media
Asura Looks down on Humanity, regarding them as Shingami's puppets, and scum.
Tumblr media
More speciffically, the real reason he looks down on them is because of their, in his eyes, weakness.
Tumblr media
When facing his brother, the only thing he cares about when comparing the two of them is strength.
Because that is the metric by which he lives his life.
He sought out strength with the goal of never having to be afraid again. He wanted to be strong to feel safe, to never have to feel fear, ever again, because in his mind, if he was the strongest, nothing could challenge him.
He rejected all bonds because he was scared of the possibility of being hurt.
In other words he is thematically the opposite of all of Soul Eater's main heroes.
He is the opposite of Kid, as a warning of what the Shinigami could become if he gave in to all his worst aspects.
He is the opposite of Black Star, as a man who sought the absolute top, but threw away everyone and everything that ever mattered to him to get there.
He is the opposite of Crona, who's is able to draw strength from one, single bond with another human being that is defined by love between the two of them, hard and painful though it might be at times.
Tumblr media
But the single person who Asura is an opposite to is Maka Albarn, who represents absolutely EVERYTHING that Asura has rejected, and looks down on.
Maka is not a particularily strong warrior as far as Soul Eater's powerlevels is concerned. While far, far above the normal human limit in every physical regard, compared to the likes of endgame Black Star and Kid, she way below them in overall combat capacity.
But that is not why Maka is a great fighter. Maka is strong, not because of her base power being stupidly high, but her ability to bring out the best in everyone around her.
This is encapsulated by her abiltiy to bring out the best performance of every single person on her side through soul syncronization... Something she is only able to do thanks to her partner Soul, and the trial and tribulations she went through to get here, including both falling on her face along the way, as well as rejecting her feelings of inaduquacy when compared to the sheer power gap between her and black star.
Tumblr media
And of course, her defining relationship in this series, her bond with Crona, is about doing the exact opposite of what Asura did with his own bonds to his partner and father, and comrades.
Asura killed and absorbed 4 of his own friends, and tried to do the same to his father, because he feared those bonds and the uncertainty they had... He rejected the best things in his life because he could not handle the fact that they were not certain things, that they could in fact go wrong... So he sacrificed them in exchange for the ephemeral safety of power.
By comparison, Maka refused to give up on her relationship with Crona, no matter how much logical sense it might make, and how much the people around her migth tell her it was the better option, because Crona mattered to her. The bond they shared mattered to her. The love she had for Crona was stronger than the fear of being hurt.
This is the reason why Maka is the Hero of this story, while Asura the villain.
In other words, even if Maka and Asura does not have a deep and complex relationship like many heroes and villains do, thematically speaking, they are the exact opposites.
Asura represents everything that Soul Eater sees as bad. Fear of others, cowardice, power for the sake of power, and rejecting an uncertain future.
Maka represents everything Soul Eater sees as good. Love for others, Bravery, seeking power not for the sake of yourself but for those around you, and having the guts to embrace the future, regardless of how uncertain it might be.
Tumblr media
It is the reason why the anime final fight, despite some hickups and misteps getting to maka's charge up the hill and the final punch, works.
This was the climax of the story, and in the end, the story rejects Asura's claim of ultimate power being the key to safety from fear.
It brought all of Soul Eater's themes together in one, final sequence where Asura's ideals are broken to pieces in the face of Maka's hope, dreams, and love for everyone she cares about, just as decisively as his face was.
Tumblr media
One of the Manga's climax's themes, is that Asura was... Kinda proven right by this ending.
The heroes did not in the end manage to overcome him, thus in it's own way, proving his faith in his own power right.
Rather than ultimately stating that power is ultimately meaningless, ephemeral, and not what actually matters in life, Instead Asura's strenght is allows him to live on to fight another day.
This his quest for power, and the sacrifices he made for it... Was actually kinda worth it in the end. Becasuse he was right. His godlike powers DID keep him safe and alive in the end, with the hope of one day breaking loose and continue his onslaught upon the world strong in his heart.
And that is one big denouncement of ALL of Soul Eater's themes, and it's overall message.

Minty reminds me of a Minecraft sniffer, just as fluffy and cute :3
Well My Fellow Friend, I have to say
Minty is a Minecraft Sniffer
Well, a rejected one but I wont get too deep in that. Actually scratch that I will. Have a lore dump for you! (get your pen and paper ready because im literally about to spew 100 hours worth of pointless words)
Tumblr media
Minty is a boy, he was part of a group of Sniffers I like to call "Sneezes."
(A group of Sniffers in my opinon is going to be called Sneeze.)
He was originally the smallest of the group until one day after randomly wandering around he finds a hanging hand parasite from oak tree. At first it had no name. Suddenly the hand parasite attached its body to Minty, casuing him to grow to a arrangment of teeth on his back as well as a awful red hue. The hand soon was able to speak, in a rather cheery and very yappy voice. Now its to note these two had no offcial name so Syrup and Minty just really didnt refer to each other as name. Also Minty cannot talk, only can make noises.
When the connection happens. Syrup explains to Minty how he got stuck in that tree. Minty surprisnly doesnt seem to mind Syrup as in his "Sneeze"no one really talked. He was interested so he kept Syrup around.
Personality
Syrup as usual is the talker of the duo while Minty is reserved in quiet. The share one thing is common and that is their curiosity. The only difference is Syrup can express his with words while Minty can only say "dum".
Goals:
One day walking through a village they saw a villager trading with someone. Syrup wanted to try it out but failed miserably as no one wanted their "good" (They didnt understand how worthy emeralds were) and couldnt really get info as the villagers became rather annoyed or scared if Syrup and Minty due to their weird looks. Determined to fit in with the group, they looked everywhere and met with other humans "Steve and Alex" to learn how to trade, along the way they discover mining and archelogy.
Other Lore Spooky Month (Oc Based)
They stay relatively the same in design for Spooky month, and I have shown a bit of then interacting with Nina and Grant
(characters belonging to ericvelseb666)
Their prescese was alarming to everyone there, literally everyone was like "WHO THE FUCK IS THAT".
Syruo became nervous and Minty grew protective of his friend. As he deliver bites and growls they were scared off by Jack and John until Stumbling across a holy site. Starry Night Bakery. Inside Syrup saw all the cool sweets, and with the little money they had at the time (more of stolen as some guy dropped their wallet and ran), they ordered a lot of Turnovers and snacks from Nina and Grant. Not understanding change they left a bit too much money and hurried off with their snacks.
Tumblr media
(old art, this was a redone concept deisgn when I didnt know what I wanted to do with them yet)
It was the first time they felt truly accepted, and they did miss Nina and Grant as they didnt go all "Oh my god what is that?!" on them. Syrup wishes to work there but stays hidden for now. Until they heard she was hiring. And Well you get what happened next. They realize the lacked a proper name, so they gave themselves one. Well Syrup names Minty, "Minty" for his colors and Syrup names himself Syrup after eating pancakes some stranger left for them with the strange liquid on top.
Tumblr media
Minus the Frank torture, Syrup and Minty were a grateful duo. They stuck close to Nina and Grant, and for the first time Minty became more "emotional". Always flapping his ears, sniffing and nose booping, even doing little stomps when he sees Grant. (He mistakes Grant for a sniffer for some god forsaken reason)
Syrup will bring Torchflowers for Nina whenever they can as a sign of "thanks" as they are very very grateful monsters.
WELCOME HOME
Not much content on this one as I am still working on a offical deisng for them. But Minty and Syrup are just trying to understand the universe and what is happening with HOME and the rest of the puppets.
Due to their odd looks, the neighborhood was quite questionable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But for the meantime, Minty hates Frank for inspecting Syrup. Poor guy got Mauled.
Tumblr media
Oh and they became uber drivers in the backrooms. Why? Dont know. Currently trying to shove them in Cuphead, so they may end up working for the devil BUT are saved by angels as they are just desperate for some work. Besides they suck at contracts, the devil himself got tired of them.
Tumblr media
YOU CALLED AN UBER??????
CONCLUSION
Thats Minty and Syrup for ya! I know you didn't ask for all of this but hey i Wanted to treat you with some rather cool lore. So if ya choose to ignore all of this that's fine!

tell me ab ben and harley 👀
HHIII okay so. let me ramble hold on
some Benjamin Hart facts:
serial killer. reason number one for the forseen tumblr discourse, because not only is he a aerial killer but he's also got Mental Illness and like don't get me wrong i understand the trope of making mentally ill characters evil is bad but he doesnt kill Becuase he's mentally ill okay. he kills people as stress relief and also just happens to have ocd and a tendency to hallucinate.
reason two for tumblr discourse: he's an addict, specifically self medicates with morphine which again. has nothing to do with why or how he kills people. it actually makes me Less likely to kill because it's another form of stress relief.
his father was a psychiatrist and Ben was also sort of... off even as a child, miscategorized as antisocial but really his brain is just wired a little wrong like he just Doesn't Get It when it comes to social relationships and people in general, so as a result his father kind of like medically experimented on him as a kid trying to help but nothing seemed to work. he was in and out of hospitals a lot as a kid, got a lot of unethical treatment (shock therapy and various medications to sedate him and hypnosis) which obviously like kind of just made him Worse.
he feels emotions so strongly that he doesn't know what to do with them and he also never really could figure out how to recognize which emotions are what so. that's really the biggest factor in his being a serial killer. he feels love so strongly that it becomes obsessive so as a child it was expressed through violence, and as an adult whos learned self control/regulations as least a little bit it now leads to some rather stalkerish behaviors. and maybe some light kidnapping. (but it's fine bc Harley loves him back. NOT in a Stockholm way though I know people would argue for that too)
his parents immigrated from Austria just before he was born and they're like Rich Rich like old money in the millions Rich and he was homeschooled, so despite living in America he has a mostly Austrian accent. German is technically his first language though he learn both that and English at the same time growing up. he's also from Chicago and has never left Chicago and was more so raised by his parents staff/nannys so his accent also has some hints of Chicago in it at times.
his mother died when he was young like 9 or so. she had cancer and Benjamin killed her to put her out of her misery. she was his first victim. he also killed his father when he was older but that was malice not love.
he's 31 years old + in modern terminology (the story is set in the early 1990s) fits the definitions for agender as well as being on the asexual and aromantic spectrums but he would never identify as such. he just doesn't care, he's fully apathetic about it. he considers himself to be a gay man but even that label is like pointless to him.
there's several iterations of him so some things are a little different from when I first made him but as of currently Ben is also a psychiatrist, bc it's really all he knows. specifically hes working at a university.
WHICH is where Harley comes in! Harley was actually created by a friend of mine for the sole purpose of shipping with Ben so like none of the following was created by me, im just stating facts.
Harley is a Jewish, half Pakistani and half romani, immigrated to america as a young child, grew up in California before coming to Chicago on full scholarship. i can't remember what his majors called but his ultimate goal is to find a cure for aids.
another reason for tumblr discourse is the age gap. Ben's 31 and Harley's 24. also Harley is autistic so that just leads to further infantilization. (and I also know that people would bring up the fact that Ben is German while Harley is Jewish like. that means anything at all)
AND the "power imbalance" of Benjamin being harleys psychiatrist (and in some iterations just one of his professors)
more harley facts bc i got sidetracked: he has a tendency to never sleep bc he works as a stripper in a gay club during nights then spends all day at school or in his lab doing research. (he's got a private lab fully funded by the uni)
and harley while not a serial killer is kind of unethically preforming experiments on dead bodies (which are often illegally obtained but Not by killing them)
the plot of the story is sort of scifi ish in nature with harleys research leading to growing living organs in dead bodies. and that's a major conflict in the story where harleys like "Ben you can't kill people it's wrong" and Ben's like "harely you can't resurrect people some would argue that's also wrong"
I also can't remember harleys full name at the moment but I remember his initials spell out the word 'help'
and anyway Ben and Harley are just so in love and are soul mates and just 100% belong together in a way that is inherently obsessive and toxic (on both ends)
AND spoilers for the end of the story. aids is a major theme throughout the story, as is tragedy, and resurrection. so i think u get where im headed with that (one of them dies and the other resurrects them out of love. but they come back Wrong because you can never truly have eternal life)

just saw an annoying post so here we go
if you're emotionally attatched to good omens fanon crowley i would reccommend not reading <3 remember if you dont like a take you can always go find another one <3 curate your own fandom experience <3
it was some ask like 'omg i love the good omens collectivly agrees that crowley was friends with freddie mercury and hozier who wrote songs about his venting ahaha' like YOU REALISE THAT DOES NOT FIT HIS CHARACTER. SORRY TO BREAK IT TO YOU BUT JUST COS YOU'RE A HOZIER GIRLIE AND A LOT OF HIS WORK FOCUSES ON RELIGION AND THAT ONE SLITHERED HERE FROM EDEN LINE IS KINDA COOL DOESN"T MEAN THAT THE SIX THOUSAND YEAR OLD ACTUAL DEMON FROM ACTUAL HELL like your pop music i'm really sorry but it doenst fit his character he canonically has like one friend and a few people he doesnt mind so much he is not buddying up to your favourite celebrities/musicians just cos you think all your blorbos should like all the same stuff you do. the bentley playing queen is framed as an annoyance because hell is annoying, that he just kinda of got used to just cos its playing all the time why would he have been friends with the guy???? doesnt make sense?????
also current fanon takes on crowley annoy me so much he's always some whiney baby and look i love a good sopping wet and pathetic character as much as the next guy but we've sort of completely overshot s1 'i just lost my best friend' level of understandable grief and gone straight to him just being annoying????? like being mopey??? and i dont read a lot of fic but when i did he seemed to get portrayed a lot as like this submissive quivering mess like GUYS LITERALLY HOW DID YOU REACH THAT CONCLUSION???? HES NOT LIKE THAT. HE JUST ISNT. and he's always soooooo traumatised and like.... yeah! they've both been through A Lot but they also have fun and enjoy being alive and enjoy hanging out wih each other and going and getting coffee etc. they both enjoy life!!! and i get some people are projecting to deal with there own stuff and like cool whatever works for you is good and healthy but i see so many takes that are starting to warp the perception of how the characters really are? and people keep positing aziraphale as being manipulative and i mean. yeah a little but they're under a lot of stress here and probably heaven doesnt have therapy covering healthy coping methods and good relationships so i really dont think itsthat much to get hung up on. also. it's literally not real they're fictional, fiction characters who have Issues are wayyyyy more interesting to literally whats the problem.
like idk man if you love teh characters so much then why are you making so many changes to their fundamental characters idk.
back to teh music thing too like. he listens to the velvet underground. idk if any of the people who are hozier stans bothered to go listen to some velvet underground before they made their character playlist but pale blue eyes & i'll be your mirror are like the nice ones??? like go listen to sister ray and then tell me the guy whos been listening to that will find from eden interesting. and neil saying he was goth and then people seem to have taken that to mean 'wears black and has a tattoo and is grumpy' like nooooooooooooooooooooooo you missed it. you missed the point again. and teh person who answered the orginal ask was like 'ahaha yeahhhhh and aziraphale was friends with composers and all teh beautiful symphonies were about crowley ahaha' like AHSGNAJKNHSKAJNSKANHSKANAKSNAKSKAKKKKK . AHN. K. not everything in the go universe is about them like. sorry! good worldbuilding doesnt make Everything focused on two guys. just cos they're very important and have been very influential doesnt mean they're like. the only thing thats ever shaped anything
ok sorry rant over

Love doesnt live here has touched me so profoundly that it has been all i breathed for the past few days.
The story is pain, make no mistake, but the beautiful kind, if there is such a thing. Your writing has given this shriveled up jaded woman feelings again. For this, i thank you. I could sing neverending praises of your talent for words 🫶🏻
I loved how there was a planned story about them having a daughter. I feel so strongly for viserra having no one that she could truly call hers, and it’s haunted me throughout. I understand a large part of her growth and healing was her loving herself, but in a world where baelon was blessed in so many ways, i feel viserra got the short stick. (Though such is life, i suppose)
Would you happen to have also planned a spinoff about an alternate universe where viserra marries desmond, and lives happily? I love their relationship, and though it is like denial as a coping mechanism, i feel that our viserra deserves someone who can love her completely.
tysm for reading & for this message! i did (still do) believe that having a daughter would be the perfect culmination of everything viserra and baelon have worked to overcome throughout that fic. not as a reward, if only life worked that way, but as a future they've built together. alas irl life is just so busy rn that i don't have the time to really get into their story again, but i'd love to return to it one day. fingers crossed
desmond manderly is so 😪 i played myself with that man because he was just meant to be viserra's equal, someone she could learn to love alongside, who could help her forgive her own immaturity and learn what a relationship could offer her. what she could offer back. unfortunately i didn't realize how much space would be needed to mourn their relationship, because when people say you never forget your first they might have been onto something!
i haven't a whole spinoff with them being married, but i did write a desmond POV at one time that didn't make it in (just didn't fit, sadly). you can have it if you'd like!
--------------------------
Desmond knows what he likes in a woman.
It's inescapable fact, can be tracked through the faces and frames of every lass he chased in his youth. All there for the world to see, his very own lineage of lovers.
There was the cabin girl first, a Lyseni sailor his own age with roses branded up her arm. A whore kept by her ship’s captain, but she came willingly to Desmond over the moon they spent docked. She cursed loudly in six different tongues whenever he laid with her, and gave him a ribbon out of her hair the day she set sail once more, never to return. (He still has that ribbon, in a box of keepsakes somewhere.)
After her it was more of the same. Rough and tumble. Tavern wenches with wilding blood in them, bloodthirsty bitches who nary spoke sweetly and bit him til they tasted copper. There was a certain blacksmith’s daughter with cracked hands whom he called upon quite often in his seventeenth year, lovely girl who loved to leave him bruised, until his lord and grandsire summoned him to say his attentions had been noticed, and were becoming a nuisance. She married the castle’s cook as a last gesture of his affection, and at times still invited him to her bedroll.
Desmond never accepted of course.
Two years later, he himself married.
At first, he thought his lady wife would please him well in several aspects, including, to his relief, bedsport. She was wild herself--too wild, he soon found. They were ill-suited even for a lover as generous as he liked to think himself.
For Minerva liked to hold his wrists and ride him as though it was her inside him. She hated his touch on her teats, didn’t even let him see them unless he begged for it. They compromise when they are together for the purpose of childing, his preferences one night, hers the next, but it remains mutually frustrating. He does not stray from her bed, though, takes no whores or mistresses.
The only woman he ever broke his vows with was Princess Viserra. Breaks. He is breaking his vows with Princess Viserra.
How can he explain that to his lady wife? Desmond cannot explain it even to himself.
Viserra is… nothing he likes. She is beautiful, aye, beautiful as a Valyrian goddess, but also temperamental and haughty and so soft. Desmond cannot be rough with her; she would only scold him, or worse, send him on his way. He gives her no bruises save lovemarks, and only where she allows it. She likes to hold his hand while they make love. Would yelp angrily if he ripped her laces clean in two.
Which is not to say she is not a proficient lover. She is that and more. Fleshy where she should be, shameless in her pleasures. Whether she mounts him or lies beneath, her body moves so erotically it dizzies him. She rarely does it first, but her cunt goes so wet when he speaks words of affection and devotion to her, drowning his good senses away with her grip on his arse urging him deeper. She calls him darling and runs her hands all over his skin, as though it gives her joy just to touch him, and at times she is so inflamed that she enthralls him. Slave to her thighs and mouth and pout, that fucking pout that drives him mad. I need you, please hold me, stay in me, she moans at the end.
Holding him close. Filthy kisses full of spittle and whines that make him hard all over again. Obsessed; obscene.
The truth is this: any man would desire Princess Viserra.
The truth only Desmond knows is this: for the longest time, he didn’t.
Even at eight-and-ten, when he thought of her every time he couldn’t sleep at night, the version of her he imagined was outrageously foul-mouthed and violent. It wasn’t her. It was simple fantasy, and disrespectful at that.
It was so unrealistic that it wasn’t until his bedding ceremony that he realized there was a problem. Desmond had twisted himself into a self-granted pardon, decided it was merely a matter of his mind being lazy, being bored, that his dreams were no reflection upon his waking hours. The two facets, the Viserra he parleyed with in the day and the Viserra who riled him in the night, were unconnected. It wasn’t her, it was her silver mane tumbling over her lovely shoulders, always causing a stir when she let them be exposed.
She was the object of his desires yet he did not act on said desires, so what crime?
Desmond absolved himself of wrongdoing for as long as he could, made up lies just so he could touch her skin and repeated them until they felt like truth.
But then she’d smiled so happily when he came to dance with her. But then her soft palm had lain against his bare skin, her silver head sighing beneath his chin. Grasped onto him with the pampered hands of a princess, pressed herself close so that he could keep her safe from the crowd, her who hardly let anyone touch her.
I want you with me day and fucking night, he’d thought viciously, shoved up against the bedchamber doors, his new wife somewhere behind them or perhaps leagues away. I want you to feel how I feel.
She did share his feelings, as it turned out. A part of him had always suspected. Had felt her touches linger. Imagined it on his bare skin.
Viserra is not the sort of woman Desmond likes. She’s too spoiled, too exacting, too refined. She infuriates him, but becomes distraught if he displays annoyance. She refuses to listen to good sense. She vexes him and does not belong in his world and her alliance with Lord Theomore was the biggest miscalculation Desmond had ever had the unfortunate luck to witness. Desmond would do himself many favors by ending their dalliance here and now, walking away as unscathed as he could be by a woman who is fire made flesh…
Cannot, though. Would rather burn alive than sacrifice what little time he has of her, before she finds another man in another castle to care for her as Desmond does.
Viserra is not the sort of woman he likes, but she has never cared to be either. She holds a greater sway over him than mere affection because his she-demon cannot do anything by halves. No, Viserra is not a woman he would say he likes.
Does not hardly need to. For he loves her.
He just... loves her. Could not for the life of him say why.

(I find your commentary about the show and the characters v interesting so I thought I'd ask)
I remember a Peter Gould interview from before season 6 premiered, where he says that we should ask ourselves what does Jimmy deserve and if 'there any way for him to win any redemption after everything that he's done'. And after watching yesterday's chapter i honestly don't know what to think. What does he AND Kim deserve. But the fact that he wants us to consider it. and what does 'redemption' means in the context of the whole show. Especially after that article where Bob talks about how 'he likes where he ends up'. A part of me still has sympathy for them but after yesterday i honestly don't know what they 'deserve'...especially now that we'll see Walt and Jesse and probably the breaking bad timeline...
i think the concept of what people "deserve" is a very nebulous one and very often in discussing it especially in terms of characters here people often land on this idea of well, punishment fits the crime and atonement for sins and all that. and while i think its an easy way to paraphrase the 'morality' of the brba universe - bad people get what they deserve - a more ACCURATE assessment would be that people experience the consequences of their actions (and often the unforeseen consequences of the actions of people around them). so their fates are not necessarily some universal, objective "deserved" fate that matches the harm that they've caused, but just the natural end to the choices they've made (and, importantly, works from a writing standpoint of fulfilling the arc of their character). like walter white, if we're talking "deserved," balancing the scales of the violence he inflicted, he probably "deserved" more than an arguably peaceful death after enacting revenge on people. but in terms of where his life went, he and the people around him fully experienced the consequences of his actions and his death resolved the show in an incredibly fulfilling way.
in terms of what anybody truly deserves, from innocent people like howard to harmful people like kim or jimmy or even lalo, everybody really deserves the chance and ability to live a life that fulfills them and doesn't harm others, everybody deserves happiness. but the important thing i think we'll see in bcs's ending is that people have to make the choice to get this and become better people. i think that's something that jesses arc in brba showed well (and theres a much larger and more articulate post about this that i read on here and i wish i could remember who wrote it) where we see jesse deal in various ways with the harm he's caused, through feeling guilt, trying to punish himself for it, rejecting this idea of "acceptance" and moving forward because to him it means that you can just keep doing bad things as long as you accept you've done them, but in el camino we see him really understand what that sentiment actually means - that blaming and punishing yourself for harm you've caused doesn't actually help anybody, least of all yourself. it only perpetuates this violence because once you've convinced yourself that all of this is innately your fault and theres nothing you can do to recover from it or wipe that stain off of your life, it becomes that much easier to continue causing harm, because you've labeled yourself as a "bad" person, and that's what bad people do. accepting what you've done doesnt mean absolving yourself of all sin. it means being able to move forward with your life and make better choices, realizing that there aren't good people and bad people and the concept of atoning is ultimately a very futile one.
i read the same bob odenkirk interview that you mention and one of the things that stood out to me most in it was what he says about telling peter and vince that sometimes people do learn the right lesson from bad situations, and that while historically in jimmys life this has not been the case, but as gene, after everything, isn't it possible that he can actually learn and grow from this? i think this existence as gene is "punishment" enough, having every part of your individual being stripped away into a automated hole of nothing, being unable to make connections with the outside world, unable to express yourself in any way, it's a really devastating and empty existence. so i think in terms of jimmy and kims endings, i think bobs interview indicates that we might be moving towards an ending like that, one like jesses, one where people actually do grow from their actions and consequences. and i dont think the harm that they've caused, terrible as it is, should deny them from living a good life. being punished still won't bring howard back, or chuck back, or anyone back.

HC Heka is an Uraeus. I know the show is not very faithful to Egyptian mythology, but she totally fits. Golden/gold female cobra spirits/goddesses who breath fire. She has to be one of those
I used to think, since staffs, sticks, swords etc turned to snakes is like a level 1 spell in the show's lore, tgat maybe he had done that not to be crazy locked inside the tomb for 3500 years and have someone to talk to. But that was already weird since the snakes are normal snakes. While she is made of gold, can shoot lasers and breathe fire, she can speak, she is sentient, doesn't age and turns back on will into a staff
And then near the end of the show we find out he ACTUALLY ALREADY had her before being entombed, we don't know how they met or if he made her but she was already his scepter he talked to when alone when he was the pharaoh's vizier
Tumblr media
And yes he was hot
So new headcanon :
Headcanon she is not result from that one spell, but his attempt to summon a familiar to assist him loyally. He messed up the spell and instead summoned a Uraeus, who are also the golden cobras you see on crowns and protectors of the pharaoh, Ra, the afterlife etc. Either because she is evil/too dependant/dangerous and disloyal to Ra and the pharaoh or all at once (even if we saw gods are kinda evil and chaotic in that show so maybe she is normal lmao) or just because the show doesnt respect the myths very well and she maybe never ever protected him at all and is just a spirit like others in-universe, one thing is sure she was banished in the Western Gates (which works both as the underworld, the world of gods and spirits and limbo in the show) and so found herself freed by him. She mocked him, laughed at his face because nobody commands her especially not even a little human like him, and now ciao, time to roam Egypt
One way or another, especially because at first before getting attached to her when his threats were empty he probably truly threatened her (several times in the show he is not afraid to threaten spirits and gods who are afraid to be sent back to the Western Gates and we saw he can also kill ghosts, dude is legetimately dangerous), he convinced her to help him understand the other world better and be his weapon and promising her that if he became pharaoh, essentially enslaving her for the moment and giving her a name ("heka", magic in Egyptian ; if she was one among others maybe she never had any) to bond her to him as a familiar he can himself summon whenever he wants ; he'd make her essentially a slave at first, but still promising what all Uraeus want to be, if we apply simplistic kids show lore to the fact Uraeus are on pharaohs heads : wrapped around his crown to protect him when he will rule. In the meantime, she'd just have to pass as his scepter when people are here instead of a crown for now. Deal
And now she got used to it and goes by it by default and despite rough starts because she not being a real familiar she was not blindly loyal and robotic and called him out in his bullshit and hated being used like an animal and they initially probably didn't like each other much, they eventually got so much in common they grew to really like each other to the point he doesn't see her as a familiar anymore but like a person and probably would never truly harm her or send her back and would be the only person he would ever keep his promise with, and she herself became genuinely loyal and concerned for him under her criticism and mockeries and technically is free to go anywhere (it is just hard because she would not be discreet in modern San Francisco so staff it is) she chooses to stay

@inlife : how does he (if he does) manage his symptoms come blank verse (me pretending he doesnt die becos itachi shouldnt have died x)!!! does he seek psychiatric n therapeutic help eventually! does he share this part of his life w the people around him/his close ones so theyre more informed !
thank u for having such a huge brain and asking abt the itachi survives au ;_;
I LOVE THIS QUESTION bc it puts a strong sense of reality on the topic and how people deal with this in modern day etc. so thank u <3 i DO like to think he does still experience episodes in which hallucinations and even delusions can morph into his sense of reality & times when he delves back into his sense of villainy and that becomes his reality for a time. i think that it might take some time for him to truly establish that these are indeed illnesses in which he can seek treatment tbh. like i think at first he believes he is condemned to experience this turmoil for all of the atrocities he's committed and that it's almost something he feels he deserves (which of course is not true) but at the same time, can feel resentful (at his life, the way things happened, the universe, mostly himself) though he would never allow anyone to see that type of resentment. he feels a lot of guilt surrounding that type of feeling since it contradicts a lot of his other beliefs.
ANYWAYS I THINK he does eventually seek help, but only when he starts rebuilding relationships & he can tell this part of him begins to not only affect himself, but the people he cares about. i want to develop more a journey with it for him through, where he goes from doing it for other people, to doing it for himself because he genuinely thinks he deserves a shot at life. it just... is definitely a journey and will take a long time for him to get to that point. that being said i think he'd be receptive to trying out medications and figuring out which ones work best for him (which is not always a journey of Ease, especially when it comes to psychotic disorders)
n i think in terms of proper therapy he'd feel very exposed and ashamed , so it would take awhile to find the right type of person to be able to fit with him in that regard? he's not very trusting and is generally pretty closed off and reserved, and that nature doesn't change much going into blank verse, as that has just always been his sort of personality. i think once he realizes how much he can say tho, and learns to trust the right person, he'll realize how much they/other people can truly help him in his journey to recovery.
IN REGARDS TO HIM SHARING IT W THE PPL IN HIS LIFE... that. is rlly hard for him :) haha but i wanna say he does eventually, probably with the help of therapy, after he's attended for some time, and after learning more about it himself. after all, it's very hard to describe what goes on in your head to people when you can hardly understand it yourself. i'm sure therapy would be very mind opening for him when it comes to learning about himself and even others.
neways i was gonna write like a paragraph bUT UHHH... :')

SONIC PRIME SPOILERS FOR SEASON 1 (THIS IS LONG. THIS IS LITERALLY ALL MY INITIAL THOUGHTS.)
OKAY SO FIRST OFF. GOD. Everything with new yoke is so so good. By far out of the universes they made new yoke a very very engaging one-- all the characters feel complex and thoughtful and it's not just a one-off universe. You care about their plight and while circumstances have changed them as people, theyre all still believable and complex like you can see why they've become this way. They dont feel like theyre being forcibly FIT into their roles in new yoke if that makes sense.
On that note, god Nine is so good and CARRIES when he has the focus. He's such a good introspective on Tails, and his deeper feelings and who he is without sonic, who he would be if he had to make it on his own. They do a wonderful balance of showing he's been forced to "grow up" because of the eggman empire, while also showing that he's still just.... a really lonely 8 year old who thinks the world is against him. So when sonic shows up and reaches out to HIM, gives him the first good connection he's had... he clings to it and clings hard. But he's new to connections and friends and doesn't really understand yet how to work them I think. So when sonic doesnt make it to save him, when sonic can't stay in the grim because he has other friends to save, nine takes it personally. It's all just. so so well done and in my opinion, out of all of the introspections they try to do with sonic's friends-- the most faithful, heartfelt, and engaging one. Which, is somewhat a given since it seems like Nine is going to remain a major, overarching character, along with the rest of new yoke.
ANYWAYS. Nine and New Yoke aside, I think another thing sonic prime is doing well so far is building up stakes with its main plot. Its not throwing nonsensical plots twists at you, but just builds in this great steady way that you're putting the pieces together on the situation the same time the characters are, and realizing just how deeply things are getting fucked. It's been REALLY engaging on that front and I'm happy for it.
But uhm. On a different note, the universes outside new yoke were.... lackluster. Both try to delve into another one of sonic's friends, and their feelings and sonic's relationship with them, but I think like... In the writers' heads right now, new yoke is the "main" plot heavy universe, and the others are one-off side universes that exist only as stepping stones to forward it. And you can... tell. Neither of the other universes' storylines are as engaging, and none of the alternates of the characters have the thought and depth that the new yoke ones have. And I think it kind of hurts the storyline, cause, well. You can tell. They WANT to engage you emotionally with amy and knuckles' nuances but they just fall flat and lose that impact theyre going for.
And god dont get me started on thorn and the jungle universe. That was just the biggest waste of what. 2? 3 episodes? I ever watched. I could not fucking care about that plot at all.
Uhm what else.... Well I think shadow is done... alright. He's being helpful, or, well, an ally (kinda hard to be helpful when youre a Void Ghost allowed only like 2 minutes of screentime), rather than a pointless obstacle, and his anger at sonic has reasoning behind it. His voiceacting also isn't as terrible as I thought. It's still not Right but its not kirk thornton-- and doesnt have that overexaggerated roughness. He is still very obviously sonic primes hype man though. He's got something going on, and clearly they want to do some kind of plot with him, but over the course of the 8 episodes he gets a little... repetitive. He kinda just relays the same thing to sonic every time we see him. Like Okay Sonic Fucked Up is Shadow going to just keep telling sonic that or is he gonna like. help.
I guess we'll see. I gotta be honest until that ball gets rolling im more invested in Nine and whatever happened there with Rusty Rose seeing Black Rose. someone please help rusty

Idk how the Wayhaven Chronicles universe would handle Beauregard
He's pure Malkavian and I ain't changing him to fit in with the other vampires
More thoughts below the cut:
So maybe he's like an off-branch of the Echo world vampires, or even the type of vampire he is, is specifically native to Earth, or maybe he wouldnt count as a vampire at all and would be classified as a different species in the Agency's system
But Kieran has been utterly fascinated by the supernatural world since the beginning, and she'd definitely take interest in Beau, and it would be mutual for him because she'd be completely immune to mental supernatural abilities
(so Dominate doesnt work on her and maybe Obfuscate too since the way it works is that it technically tricks the mind into believing someone's not there - Auspex I'm a bit unsure of, but since premonition is part of Beau's schtick, then I'll say that he isn't able to actively divine her future just like Sanja isnt able to)
But the Malk visions are different, since technically Malkavians know everything but don't understand context - Beau wouldn't be able to see anything related to Kieran, but he knows instinctively that she's important. So he stays close because he's the kind of guy who can't let something go until he understands it fully
I bet it's super annoying to Unit Bravo, like Nate would be questioning why this weirdo is hanging around his girlfriend (and Kieran has issues maintaining boundaries anyway), but Kieran actually likes Beau and they're friendship is a bit like her friendship with Mason
Rebecca though would be even more concerned, cause whatever Beau is, is one of the more dangerous supernaturals cause of the Malkavian clan bane, the blood drinking, and all of Beau's other issues

alright I have an au idea that im about to badly explain but it's a little strange so stick with me.
I call it: 'The Parent Trap but Opposite' au
So picture this: Tommy is Phil's only child, right. His mother died in childbirth so for his entire eight years of life its just been him and Phil. And that's fine, that's great, he loves it. Tommy doesn't want another addition to the family, it would only screw everything up.
That being said, Phil is lonely. Don't get him wrong, he loves his son and loves spending time with him, but he misses the feeling of being in love. He misses his wife.
Enter, Kristen.
They meet on a blind date, set up by a friend from Phil's work, and hit it off instantly. Months pass and Phil wants to propose.
One problem though. He hasnt told Tommy about it. He hasn't even introduced Kristen to him.
So what better way to merge both families that a holiday?
(I should probably say here that Kristen also has children. Take a wild guess who they are.)
Tommy is all for a holiday. Two weeks at a fancy ass hotel with room service, an arcade and a pool? Sign him up!
That is until, he finds out that Kristen and her boys will be joining them.
Enter, Wilbur and Techno.
(They're about fourteen. Their parents are divorced and, unlike Tommy, they knew Kristen was seeing Phil. They alse know that Phil is gonna propose - well, it's just a hunch)
Phil, god bless him, tries his hardest to get Tommy to warm up to Kristen, Wilbur and Techno. He plans all these activities and takes them all shopping, to the beach, to waterparks ect. But Tommy just won't take to them; he doesn't mind Kristen but Wilbur and Techno are weird, they keep making these cryptic comments about how they're going to be seeing eachother a lot in the future and Tommy just does not understand.
That is, until they decide to let Tommy in on the obvious.
Tommy, as expected, is in denial. Because there's no way his dad would do something like that without telling him first. Besides, Phil doesn't need to get married, they're perfectly happy just the two of them.
There's just no way.
Right?
Wrong.
Because Tommy is a curious little shit and he ransacks his and Phil's hotel room in search for the ring. He doesn't find it, of course, because Phil is used to Tommy's little raccoon tactics and hid it properly. But when he comes back from dinner with Kristen to a destroyed room and a confused Tommy, he decides to tell him the truth.
Needless to say Tommy has a fit. One moment, he's happy; just him and dad, living life. And then this lady and her shitty sons come along and fucks that up
(I imagine the conversation being something like:
Phil: Yeah im gonna propose Kristen
Tommy, inhaling deeply: *screams*
And then it would proceed to reinact that once scene from Steven universe with ruby and sapphire like-
phil: he'll eventually tire himself out :'D
Tommy, making even more of a mess than he already has: that's what you think! I am an eternal flame baby!! >:(
Yeah.)
Tommy, ever the drama queen, storms to Wilbur and Techno - who are like "we told you so :/" - and the three of them (because Techno and Wilbur also do not want this little racoon gremlin hybrid in their home either) team up and plan to ruin the proposal. The only problem, they don't know when Phil is gonna actually propose.
And this...this is where the hijinks and shenanigans ensue.
They just like, constantly ruin Phil and Kristen's date nights with their dumb shit.
(I'm thinking shit like the three of them stacked on each others shoulders in a trench coat pretending to be a waiter at the hotel restaurant Phil and Kristen are eating at and constantly spilling drinks and food of them whenever it looks like Phil is about to pop the question; following them on walks under the stars, hiding in bushes with binoculars and making birds attack them; tackling Phil into the pool ect. ect. ect.)
But, plot twist, while pulling off these epic plans, the three of them...bond! Dun dun dunnnnn!!! Wilbur and Techno actually grow to like Tommy and think "Hey, maybe this kid ain't so bad" so they back out on the plans and try to convince Tommy to do the same. He won't.
(Meanwhile, Phil is just wondering why all his proposal attempts have gone so fucking wrong like???)
Anyways, fast forward. Its the last day of their holiday the two families go out for dinner. Its nice, they're having a good time, Kristen is chatting away to Tommy about Minecraft and Tommy is happy to tell her all about his favourite game. And then, Phil clears his throat.
He starts talking about Kristen and how happy he makes her, and Tommy can tell what's coming the moment Phil reaches into his jacket pocket and pulls out a small black box. And, in a final attempt to keep the life he has, Tommy snatches the box out of Phil's hand and fucking runs.
He runs right out of the restaurant, ignoring everyone calling after him, and doesn't stop running until he's on the beach, where he hides. And he cries. He cries because his dad is gonna replace him with Techno and Wilbur, and he misses his mum even though he never met her, and because this he knows that stealing a ring and running away isn't gonna stop this proposal from happening, and because the only family dynamic he knows is going to change and he isn't ready for that. And it's just a big angst moment.
And then some fluff.
Kristen finds him hidden by the rocks, and Tommy quickly pretends he wasn't just crying bc he's a big man and shit like that. He half expects her to immediately call for Phil and then for Phil to disown him, but instead she sits with him.
She asks if he's OK and when he doesnt answer her she just goes on talking about random things as if Tommy didn't just ruin their entire holiday (about shit like how she thought the cake at the restaurant was too dry and about the stars and different constellations and she even continues asking him about minecraft) and Tommy, after a while, talks back to her.
They talk for a while, arguing about the best Minecraft block (Tommy wholeheartedly defending cobblestone like his life depends on it) until eventually Kristen asks why he did what he did. And Tommy explains everything (that can basically be summed up in "I'm scared of change")
It's just a wholesome moment really. They're just sitting behind a bunch of rocks, Tommy is spilling his guts and Kristen is just listening. And at then end of it she's there to give him a big hug.
(I imagine Tommy saying that one cliche line "please don't hurt my dad" and Kristen being like "I wouldn't dream of it" and then Tommy gives her the ring box)
But yeah, happy ending! Phil proposes to Kristen on the beach and it's all happy and nice and cool and Tommy, Techno and Wilbur watch and Techno starts crying a little bc he's so happy for his mum.
...
I came up with this last night when I couldn't sleep.

Ok, as a person going through their gender discovery journey, as someone who has struggled with gender for over a decade (acknowledging it and their entire life without actually knowing how to name it), this is how I perceive As It Was. This might be me projecting myself because H always makes me feel safe and free enough to choose the life I wanna live but I needed to get this off my chest.
First of all, the video and the lyrics just dramatically scream GENDER but I’ll focus only (or mostly) on the lyrics alone. Let’s begin!
Holdin' me back Gravity's holdin' me back
Ok, stating facts. Life just holds us back, the society we live in as much as it has improved and grown over the decades we are nowhere near total freedom. Gravity? You mean like the major law of the universe? The whole reason we are stucked in the material place we are? The world is holding H back, the way the worlds works is holding H back.
Nothin' to say When everything gets in the way
H has tried to speak up for years, to launch hundreds of signals and still some people feed off the Harry Styles persona and don’t even bother to question who H really is. So basically, there’s nothing more to say especially when everything gets in the way and nobody cares, nobody listens.
Seems you cannot be replaced And I'm the one who will stay
Let’s remember that H literally has mentioned a woman that lives in his head (She) before. Let’s take this two lines as H talking to themselves. “Seems you cannot be replaced“ to me, refers directly to the woman in his head. H is literally accepting the fact, after god know how many years, that she is going nowhere.  “And I'm the one who will stay“ it’s pure resignation/acceptance at this point. She is never going away it doesnt even matter how hard H tries, it doesnt matter how bad people wants H to fit in, she is not leaving and it’s ok because H as a whole is staying. Male H, femme H, both, neither, H as a whole is complete and staying after all.
In this world, it's just us You know it's not the same as it was
Pure acceptance. All we got it’s ourselves, it doesnt matter how that comes out, we got ourselves or else nobody else will. After struggling, H is ok with how everything turned out, with everything they are because it’s not the same as it used to be, as it was.
"Harry, you're no good alone Why are you sitting at home on the floor? What kind of pills are you on?"
It doesnt matter if you believe this is a quote from someone close to H or if it’s H talking to themselves, only one word can describe this whole part: STRUGGLE. “Harry, you are not good alone” I cannot even begin to explain to a cis person what is like to grow and live in a body that you would like to change, to grow struggling constantly with your mind, to try and fight that feeling of loneliness of not belonging in your own body but we all can relate to the fact that being alone is the worst part of a struggle, your mind takes over and there is nothing left for you to do.  “ Why are you sitting at home on the floor?” Hopelessness. “What kind of pills are you on?" “Come on, mate that just sounds crazy” because let’s be honest the biggest possibility is that people surrounding you won’t understand. And the next line just adds more to the whole dilemma:  “Ringin' the bell And nobody's coming to help”.
Go home, get ahead, light-speed internet I don't wanna talk about the way that it was
Just let the thoughts stop, please. I don’t wanna talk about it all. Especially how everything was before I understood it myself.
Leave America, two kids follow her I don't wanna talk about who's doin' it first
And this one is my favourite. I dont believe it is about H’s family but I do understand where you all coming from. I believe this line is about H’s identity. “Leave America” and what is America to the most of the world? The dream. The american dream. The thing every single living soul wants, what it’s “normal”. But leave it behind, leave the norms society force onto you behind. “Two kids” H. H is the two kids: he “himself” and the woman in his head. “Two kids follow her” and I believe her is everything H wants to be and I’m not necessarily talking about H being trans, I take the “her” more like freedom, the life H has always wanted to live as queer, as genderqueer. “Imma take everything I am and follow my own path”.  “ I don't wanna talk about who's doin' it first” Because H doesnt know who will make it first. Male H? Femme H? Both? Neither? And we come back to the acceptance of it all: just H. H as a whole person, embracing everything they are and being finally free enough to dance it out, freely.
So, yeah. Maybe I’m projecting, maybe I’m not but this is what the song means to me. Cheers to my genderqueers out there, you are loved by your mother.

MvA assorted headcanons
General:
So many years together has made the core monsters inseperable. If something affects one member, it affects the group.
All. The. Monsters. Are. Family.
It takes Susan a while to understand inside jokes and past incidents because of being the most recent addition.
There are Other anomalous creatures kept in Area 5X, but they are either non-sentient and/or are too dangerous to be kept around the more human-friendly monster group.
Area 5X is so gotdang big because they were expecting a lot more kaijus like Insecto to crop up. Sadly not many have surfaced to justify the space.
There’s a hangar in Area 5X full of wrecked UFOs. Some are spacecraft wreckage while others are stuff like weird meteors (Susan’s is in there), and at least one alien creature that got crystallised upon entering Earth’s atmosphere.
There’s significant difference in staff employed at different points throughout the past 50 years. There are far more women on the Area 5X worksheet than back in the 50s, and the guards are generally more sympathetic towards the monsters. Many modern staff members have been reprimanded or let go for failing to uphold secrecy, or for unnecessary cruelty towards the monsters.
Budget cuts were a legitmate concern up until the Battle of Golden Gate Bridge. The facility was far more barebones and sterile before the government had to formally recognise Area 5X’s importance. There have been a lot of redecorating at the facilty since the fat checks started coming in.
Putting individual characters under read due to length.
Susan:
Enjoys many hobbies considered stereotypically feminine; baking, sewing, cosmetics, etc...
Grandparents and extended family are farmers or are atleast connected to the business. Modesto is the agricultural centre of California after all. Her parents were the first of their generation to go against the mold and seek out white-collar careers.
Studied cosmetology in school and was working at a beauty salon to save up for her and Derek’s wedding.
Is very athletic and grew up doing a number of physical extracurriculars like cheerleading, dodgeball, and roller-derby.
Grew up being teased for being the shortest kid in her class/family. They still tease her for it.
Greatly fears causing collateral damage and/or harm to others through her size.
Has issues with anxiety, worsened only by her new job as “savior of earth”. She wishes for a confidant to tell her worries to.
Married life with Derek was doomed to fail. Susan had a plan in place for what came after the marriage, and focusing 100% on Derek’s career was not it. There’s also the line from Derek’s mother about Susan being “the weatherman’s wife”, implying that she was to be the homemaker and not have a career of her own. It’s possible that Susan was planning to settle down and have kids with Derek, but the lack of control she had in moving to Fresno implied that more was going on.
Is currently “taking a break” from love and dating, despite gaining many new admirers.
Tries her best to return to Modesto to visit her family and friends whenever possible, though work often keeps her away for weeks at a time.
If she retains her height-shifting abilities as in the series; Susan goes through really bad “growing” pains.
Link:
Was frozen in his relative late-teens during a cold snap. Got shifted around until he ended up somewhere in Greenland before being discovered by modern humans. Post-thaw he went a bit wild, swimming frantically back south to try and find his old enviroment.
Was one of many scrappy youngsters in his troop, with a number of adoptive parents. The strongest ruled the troop, and Link was fairly weak in comparision to the leaders. He had gotten into a fight the day of his freezing (over something silly in hindsight) and swam away to sulk. When he didn’t return after the cold snap - the troop accepted that he had likely died out on his own.
Likes to freak out humans by making up weird biology facts about his species and ones he’s fought against - like joking about laying eggs or having his tail dettach and regrow like a lizard. However there’s some things he has to ask about, because he doesn’t have medical knowledge or words to describe something.
A lot of his macho behavior came from imitating the guards who kept watch on him. 1950s violent military alpha males aren't a very good role model for someone who doesnt know what societal norms are yet. Link was a lot more insufferable back in the day but chilled out as he began interacting with other walks of life.
Has a high paternal instinct and immediately becomes softer around kids and smaller animals.
Has body language similar to a cat/alligator. Slaps his tail when angry or in deep thought. And yes; Link purrs/rumbles when happy.
Loves monster movies - especially the ones where the monsters “win”. He cried when he saw “Beauty and the Beast” and then immediately booed loudly when the Beast turned human.
Does Not Trust doctors or scientists due to bad past experiences. Will only go to Dr Cockroach and Monger if he ever gets hurt/ill. Gets stressed fast if he has to be in a waiting room or doctors office.
Link had no idea what gender indentities or orientations were until recently - he did come from a pre-human civilization that really didnt mind/care about the schemantics. It took him some time to wrap his head around it. He identifies himself as bisexual after much thought and many hours alone on the computer.
Don't press him about his body. He's built different from humans and cis people. He will punch anyone who doesnt respect his or anyone elses identity.
Has been in love before. It didn’t end well.
Will occasionally wear clothes, but finds it a challenge to find anything that fits him. Will give any shoes he finds to Dr Cockroach and BOB to eat.
The best driver/pilot out of all the monsters.
Dr Cockroach:
True name is Jaques-Yves Herbert. Prefers to just go by "Dr Cockroach" because he dislikes the association with his birth family.
Picks up human languages very easily, although not as quickly as he can understand animals.
Parents were a mixed scientist couple. His father was an aggressive “Strong British Man” that would beat him son down for not following orders or for not meeting his standards for a man. Dr C turned down both chances to attend his parents funerals.
This man isn’t straight. He probably uses old-fashioned slang when asked about romance such as; “I am Uranian” or “I wear a green carnation”. It took Susan a few times to realise what he meant, as she is used to a more open minded enviroment.
Got the idea of transforming into a cockroach from reading Franz Kafkas “The Metamorphosis” as a child. He sympathized with Gregor’s abusive situation, and began considering the possibilties of how one could survive better as a creature like a cockroach.
Studied in biology and entomology in the Uk before moving to the states to follow engineering. Obtained his degree in Dance as a “side gig” in University.
Has been barred from free access to the coffee maker/machine due to overnighters. Once stayed awake so long that he forgot the letter “R”.
Owned a terrarium of Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches throughout college. He mourned each of them when his roommate’s iguana got into the tank.
Was a "beatnik" back in the day and still kinda is. Embraces and encourages modern counterculture as he himself was not given such acceptance in his youth. He has however shamefully eaten his old Lenny Bruce album.
Hasn’t actually aged physically since his transformation. He attributes this to the fact that certain athropods can’t age physically beyond maturity. Link is very jealous.
Has obtained more degrees while in captivity, as Monger allowed him access to research and learning materials. He has however had his allowances revoked for previous escape attempts/doomsday devices.
Does still enjoy human food, but the cockroach instinct of "eat detritus" tends to overrule his eating choices. Can’t cook either.
Ironically a terrible driver. The damages from previous drives has made Monger restrict him from operating even a razor scooter.
BOB:
Pretty much considers himself human. Was created by them, raised by one (Monger), and talks like one. Gets sad when he's reminded that no other humans are blue blobs like him.
Absorbed some dna from the scientists present at his "birth", leading to his eye, speech, and omnivorous diet.
Doesnt actually need to breathe (as he can just absorb oxygen through his mass) but the fact that humans Do means that BOB thinks he has to as well.
Shares some physical characteristics with tomatoes/nightshade plants, as he is technically half tomato. He refuses to eat tomatos for this very reason, considering it cannibalism.
Attracts garden pests looking for a tomato plant. This unwittingly makes BOB a pretty good bug zapper.
Still retains his "mental broadcast" ability from "BOB's Big Break" although at a more subtle level. He tends to parrot the things he accidentally "eavesdropped" on.
Is empathetic, and can tell when others aren't doing ok emotionally. Will flop down on someone who’s really sad to comfort them. No brain, only heart.
Best cook out of the monsters. If he doesn’t forget what he’s making at least.
"Whats a gender? Can I eat it?"
Insectosaurus:
Core body is that of a Japanese Silkmoth, although she ended up being spliced with other animals present on the island during her initial mutation; namely ants and ground squirrels.
Eats over a literal ton of mulberry leaves per day. Also enjoys oranges.
Secretly wishes to be more humanoid.
Was only able to pupate and transform due to physical trauma. It seems that her transformation was like a “power-up” that required her to be in geniune distress for it to activate.
First language is Japanese. She learned it from the intial recovery team, and later developed an understanding of English from years in Area 5X.
Goes into torpor in cold weather. Pretty much impossible to wake her up for missions during Winter, as she needs to “rev up” before becoming mobile.
Still very much Link’s best friend. Still enjoys sports, chicks, and beer.
Monger:
Full name is; Warren Rex Monger.
Is very protective of the monsters and will defend them to the death.
Pretty much raised BOB (as seen when BOB was a baby blob in “Night of the Living Carrots”), and considers him his “freaky gelatinous son”.
Has a reputation of being a “control-freak” due to his aggressive overseeing of the monsters’ containment. This toughness is partly because of incidents that occured without his knowledge. Lets just say some scientists have been wedgied/fired for running experiments on the monsters without Monger’s approval.
Has a very “Ron Swanson” emotional response and view of the world. Crying is acceptable only at funerals and at the Grand Canyon (if he hadn’t lost his tear ducts in the war).
Has been married multiple times. Will not confirm or deny if he is currently seeing anyone.
Invisible Man/TiM:
Legit got out but no one at Area 5X is sure how. He suffered a geniune medical emergency and disappeared after surgery. The other monsters were informed that he died from complications to deter them from getting escape ideas.
Is able to be detected in Infrared light. Dr Cockroach managed to rig up goggles to view TiM in case of injury and to foil pranks.
Was a scientist working on an invisibility potion for the military and used himself as a guinea pig. Hasn’t actually been able to replicate his results since - thinks the effect may have been caused by a genetic abnormality.
Dr Cockroach and him are massive rivals. Both actually met eachother pre-transformation through a CalTech expedition. This makes the pair one of few people that have seen the others human face.
Is 100% naked. Was forced to wear clothing once this was discovered.
A massive prankster and a cynic. Him and Link were a force to be reckoned with.
Has revisted the facility multiple times and has started a number of ghost stories.
Any additions are welcome! I proably have alot more to dump about. Might make one of the alien characters from the series
