The narrative importance of the Ragnarök Connection
Tumblr media
Charles zi Britannia believes that humans are liars. His ideology is based on the fact that the suffering of the world comes from deceptions and, for this reason, the Ragnarök Connection consists of destroying the set of masks that people use in front of others to force the people to be themselves. This isn't a hive mind nor the literal destruction of the world. It's about, in Jungian terms, destroying the Persona archetype (the face we decide to show to others, not the one we truly are). This way people wouldn't have to lie, they could understand each other and conflicts would end. Sounds good, in theory. The problem is that the emperor's plan involves eliminating free will and individuality, which reflects Lelouch's parents' rejection of human nature. Charles' view of humanity is quite simplistic, binary and dismissive. That's why Charles appears painted red and blue on a background of the world in the opening.
Tumblr media
Lelouch and Suzaku reject this vision and this plan. Lelouch says that people still lie for good reasons (a purpose) and Suzaku agrees, claiming that they may lie to protect others like Euphemia and Shirley who kept Lelouch's secret. Lelouch understands that masks are necessary and are part of people's identity. He proves it in the last interaction he has with his father. Nunnally's smile is a mask, but that doesn't make it fake. It's her way of accepting her unfortunate fate and being grateful that she is still alive and is with her loved ones. Lelouch is aware of this and accepts her mask.
Tumblr media
The Ragnarök Connection involves the elimination of the effort that humans must make to learn and empathize with them. Consequently, no new experiences are forged and nothing evolves. And, if nothing changes, life loses total meaning and becomes empty. An empty life is a life without a future or hope or purpose. That's what Lelouch explains to CC and Rolo.
Tumblr media
Lelouch tells CC in the seventh episode of the first season: "Until I met you I was dead. An empty corpse existing behind a false guise of life, a life in which I did nothing real. Day to day, I merely went through the emotions of living as if I were a zombie. And I always had the feeling that I was gradually dying. If I’m condemned to go back to that, then I’d rather…"
Tumblr media
And then he tells Rolo in the fourth episode of R2: Rolo, what is the future? The future is hope. Without hope, your life is on hold, empty, waiting. And you have no hope beyond your mission, Rolo. If you capture C.C., what sort of future will it open for you? Things will just go on as they are, and nothing will change.
Tumblr media
Code Geass often uses Lelouch to emphasize the importance of having a purpose in life, even if all the characters demonstrate it in one way or another. It is one of the main themes. For Lelouch, Zero/the Rebellion was always that future. However, in this episode everything is questioned because Lelouch discovers that one of the reasons for his revenge is false because his mother is alive and, furthermore, his rebellion was part of his parents' plan (and CC to a lesser extent). Given this, he reaffirms his individuality and his will.
Tumblr media
God/C's world is the human will, which means that it is a collection of the wills of all the people who have ever existed, including Lelouch's. He activated his Geass, not to use it on God, but to influence it. At that moment his will was so powerful that he not only convinced God to stop his parents, he also increased the power of Geass and unlocked it in his other eyeIt's important to note that he made a wish, instead of using Geass, because that differentiates him from his father. While the Emperor intended to bend the C's world to his will, Lelouch doesn't want to do so. He saw himself reflected in his father. They both suffered in the past and wanted to change the world for the better. The thing is Charles was trying to impose peace and although he had good intentions, it was an evil and selfish act. Lelouch realized he was doing the same thing with Zero, technically.
Tumblr media
In this way, Lelouch understands that the end doesn't justify the means since his parents sacrificed everything for their ends and, as a result, lost themselves and their motivations. Humanity's sake or, what is the same, "reunion with those from whom we are separated" was the lie that Marianne and Charles used to convince themselves that they were right and were the scapegoat to justify all the sins they committed and allowed to be committed. Lelouch reveals their hypocrisy by pointing out the unconsciousness of their statements. Although Charles and Marianne took Lelouch and Nunnally away to protect them, they didn't seek justice for the crime committed, instead, they became VV's accomplices by using Charles' Geass on Nunnally and then they did not stop the war between Japan and Britannia because they wanted to get the Thought Elevator on Kaminejima Island for their plan. In the same way "Nunnally" was the scapegoat and the lie for Lelouch in his rebellion, however, Lelouch is honest with himself and recognizes that his true motivation was to protect the people he loved. This sincere display is what persuades Suzaku to work with him once again.
Tumblr media
One of the main unknowns of the series is "do the ends justify the means?" Suzaku says, "No, the means determine the ends and that's why I will follow the right path by trying to change the unjust regime from the inside while keeping my integrity intact." Lelouch says, "Yes and I can be this manipulative, control-freak leader over these 'pawns' if it means stopping Britannia/saving Nunally." The series answers that neither is completely correct and that both have their advantages and disadvantages. Lelouch and Suzaku end up realizing it here. Suzaku says, "If you want to achieve that end, you must act." And Lelouch says, "Yes, the means to that end requires me to reject something." That is, both must sacrifice something to achieve their goal.
Tumblr media
In short, the narrative objective of this scene is to show us that Lelouch and Suzaku understand what humanity wants and establish themselves as defenders of free will, as well as accepting the virtues and defects of the human condition. It's in the nature of men to lie and be confrontational, but they also dream of a tomorrow. Ultimately, the Ragnarök Connection is the final stage for Lelouch and Suzaku's evolution. Thanks to this plan, they perfect their ideals, manage to unite and are able to save the world. It's an important moment that solidifies all the themes of the series and sets the foundation for Lelouch and Suzaku's final plan: Zero Requiem.
Tumblr media
PS: If you think this analysis blew your mind, hope you see it from the perspective of Joseph Campbell's monomyth :P

i think something important we all have to remember about characters is that they are not real. but they are symbolic representations of types of humans. especially when you incorporate fantasy into the mix, where these representations become a bit less literal.
so, like, when you have characters that are immortal/ageless/reincarnations/vampires/whatever, who are, on paper, much older than they actually look... it really just comes down to "if they walk like a duck and talks like a duck, then it's probably a duck."
basically what i mean is if a character is functionally a teenager within a story, emotionally and societally and such, then for all intents and purposes they ARE a teenager. because the thing that they are coded to symbolize is a teenager. regardless of fantasy factors that dont exist in the real world. maybe the closest thing is someone who is an adult but looks young (i still get mistaken for 16, its a struggle) but thats a false equivalence, you are still an adult, you cant be coded as a teenager as if this was a story (though you can certainly be immature lol).
conversely, "1000 year old dragon lolis" are coded as children. they represent children. no matter how many spins you try to put on it, that is a symbolic representation of a child. there's a huge difference between the reality of an adult who just happens to look young, and the fantasy of a child who by some loophole can consent. because thats the intent the character was created with.
obviously im not saying this applies to ALL characters who are immortal children though. it can be used for all types of different effects, like, for example, pride in fullmetal alchemist mangahood uses this to enhance his Creepyness factor, due to the disconnect between his appearance and his demeanor. he walks like a duck but doesnt talk like a duck. there are for sure ways to do this trope that arent creepy in the other sense.
same thing goes for immortal teenagers- once you introduce a power imbalance into the mix that makes them functionally just an adult who looks young, thats when the dynamic can begin to feel creepy. and its a tricky thing to pull off, because you have to balance the immortality with the teenager-ness, and it seems like lots of life experience will often contradict the latter. but its not impossible (at least in writing). a character can be more knowledgeable without having power over the other, and i think it largely comes down to how theyre treated socially too. if they have just as much power as any other teenager in their society, then theres not really an imbalance. how theyre treated by other characters will inform the viewers on how to treat them by extension.
like, weird example, but the vampire girl from hotel transylvania (i forgot her name, i watched it when i was 12) is like 100 years older than her love interest. but shes still a pretty stereotypical teenager who has to listen to adam sandler her father, and has the same amount of power in this situation as any other teenager would. the movie sets up the leads as being on the same level socially so theres no issue (this may have been made extra clear because its a kids movie, which is why its an easy example). contrast this with twlight where edward obviously has power over bella specifically due to his vampire-ness, and thats why their dynamic is one that many people find uncomfortable because the fantasy age gap plays a part in this.
but yeah at the end of the day thats why id never, like, call c.c from code geass a pedophile for kissing lelouch (utilitarian reasons or otherwise), but that's also exactly why i'd call isekai man #208 a pedophile for having a loli love interest. these characters are not real, they are symbols. you cannot take symbols literally (thats oxymoronic) by just looking at the numbers of their ages, you have to look at what they represent of the real world inside the story. what does this fantasy immortal SAY about age and such. what do their actual dynamics reflect in the real world.
fiction isnt reality, but its a mirror that reflects it. sometimes a funhouse mirror, but you can still see whats being reflected if you look closely.
anyway please dont take this as any sort of discourse, i really am just musing about how fiction Works, and how different tropes apply in different ways and such. this isnt a response to anything or anyone im just thinking out loud. peace ✌️

Code Geass x MTP because they have quite the similarities.
L.L: So you have chosen to set the world hatred upon yourself so that once you end your own life, the people would go back to peace? I happen to do the same. William: How lovely. Unfortunately I couldn't succeed in my death, for my partner saved me, and didn't allow me to die. So I vowed to stay by their side. I don't complain though. L.L: We sure have the same experience, don't we? My partner did such as well. Our wedding is soon. William: Why, ours as well! Why don't we have a leisure evening together before the day comes? I can see myself getting along with you splendidly. Louis, standing behind Nunnallys wheelchair: Your brother seems like a nice person. Nunnally: I can say the same thing about yours. Having such a high role in society now, I'm proud to be living in the world my brother fought for. Louis: Indeed...
(meanwhile C.C and Sherlock are in the background arguing because there's no way they would get along) (also the SherLiam marriage is obviously just me and my shipper fantasy)
ONLY APPLIES WITH THE CONTEXT OF "Lelouch of the Resurrection"

Unholy Trinnity in Hogwarts
I recently returned to the Code Geass fandom. Which hurts a lot because this fandom is almost dead and despite that, the ideas continue to flow in my head. Fanfic ideas that I'm not going to write of course, but if someone wants it, all yours.
So more or less a Harry Potter AU. Which I haven't seen many of actually.
Moments after his death, Lelouch awakens on a different existential plane than World C. There he meets A.A., the embodiment of the human consciousness and the first existing code, who distributed the Geass to humanity.
In said plane, they propose a deal: In exchange for more entertainment than Lelouch has been providing since he became a contractor, they would allow him a second chance at life in a different world, since they do not want him in world C and if he is expelled from there his soul will be painfully tortured for eternity until it is finally erased. Seeing that Lelouch vehemently denies, they sweetens the deal by assuring that he could take C.C. and Suzaku with them when the latter's lifespan expires. Despite his doubts, having nothing to lose, Lelouch decides to accept.
Time in said plane passes differently than reality, so in the small period that Lelouch falls asleep in preparation for his soul to be sent to his next reincarnation, Suzaku (who has become immortal due to Lelouch's geass) and C.C. are brought to the existential plane by A.A.
While for Lelouch only a few hours have passed since his death, for Suzaku and C.C. have been decades. Suzaku's mental state is especially fragile after everything that has happened and his renewed inability to die now that he has immortalized himself.
A.A. attacks where it hurts and proposes the same thing to them as he did to Lelouch: In exchange for entertainment while they modify the destiny of the world to which they would be sent, they would be allowed a second life at Lelouch's side. Unexpectedly, Suzaku is the first to agree despite C.C.'s reluctance.
To facilitate their adjustment to their situations in their future reincarnations, A.A. has allowed them several gifts, including a psychic/empathic link, the maintenance of the geass and codes they had (including the code that Lelouch carried and which was not activated due to Lelouch's desperate wish to die and which he unconsciously overturned through his geass), and families in which they were protected.
Using the power of the Caretaker of Spacetime, AA sends them through the dimensional veil to be reborn in this new world.
Thus, throughout the year 1969, three children are born in various parts of the magical world: In Japan, on July 10, Suzaku Kururugi is born to the muggles Byakko and Varvara Kururugi; in France, October 5 is followed by Cassandra Chatagnier of the muggle Valeray Chatagnier and his witch wife, Étiennette; and on December 5, Lelouch Black-Lamperouge of Eridanus Black and his wife Marion Lamperouge.
In this way, the Demon Emperor, the White Knight and the Immortal Witch end up in the world of Harry Potter.
I'll do my babies' family tree later, so you can see where the trio fall in the complicated British political climate. Especially Lelouch, the punching bag of the universe, who has been given the short stick, again.

Lelouch with more years of experience would be a complete monster, literally at the age of 18 without having received any formal education in strategy and command since he was a child he managed to outperform the likes of Cornelia and Schneizel.
We even get a glimpse of how competent he would be in the picture drama that takes place 10 years after Zero Requiem, with him and C.C. having set up the plan in such a way that they can afford to have a conversation and flirt in front of their enemy.
Honestly, him and C.C. flirting in front of that pirate in the picture drama will never not be funny. 🤣
Lelouch with more years of experience would be a complete monster
Imagine another global incident happens in the far far future (because peace never lasts) of the Re;surrection timeline, and Suzaku has long passed, and Lelouch takes up the mantle of a mysterious commander or revolutionary leader once again with C.C. at his side... I can't. 💀
He brought the grandest empire the world has ever seen to its knees, established a new world order right after, and he could do it again. 👑
ALL HAIL, LELOUCH 🛐

Code Geass Lelouch of The Rebellion R2 Novels by Mamoru Iwasa // Non Canon
There are 4 novels for Code Geass R2, always written by Mamoru Iwasa, and a last one, the Knight of Rounds novels, which focuses mostly on Suzaku, Gino and Anya, as well as a part focused on Marianne. You can find additional info + Season 1 novels translations right here. Aside from the first one, Turn 1, R2 novels weren't translated in english like the season 1 novels and while the novels in japanese can be bought, and are actually available in chinese online, no one actually had the courage to translate those fully; **Still you can find some part of the novels which were translated amongst various places of the internet right below**
I'll be honest, I don't have it either, novels aren't very interesting to me since they are merely an interpretation from an author who isn't part of the writing team, so no canon information can be found, and i'm not a fan of this type of merchandising as i'm more of a fan of the CanonVerse than i am of the various AU/Fanon verse.
Season 1 novels were already translated and not much enjoyable to read for me, so i didn't read the R2 novels, that means unless someone is motivated enough, or if someday i am motivated enough, I'll only post some novel bits that can be found over the internet, or some summaries found in Animesuki when the novels aired ;
If you are fluent in chinese and want to fully read them, you can find the novels right here
R2 - Turn 1
Tumblr media
No information for Turn 1
R2 - Turn 2
Tumblr media
No information for Turn 2
R2 - Turn 3
Tumblr media
For Turn 3, you can find some tibdits that were translated, mostly about C.C., because you could get some interpretation by Iwasa about what could possibly go on within some character's head.
Original translation can be found there, I pasted it here because it's put in the middle of various texts about C.C., both mixing canon stuff and not canon one, so it's a bit messy to link it directly;
It's supposed to be an insight of Lelouch's thought after he comes back from C.C.'s inner world/past in Turn 15.
I’m ‘too kind’? What stupid words!
Who’s the one being ‘too kind’ here?
C.C., when you first made contract with me, you didn’t reveal anything. I was afraid that I was nothing more than a tool to end your eternal life. But now I know your weakness that differs you from the nun, the Code bearer from your past; you are too kind. No matter where you go, even when your body is immortal, your heart is still that of human. Whenever you make a contract, at first you have no feelings for your contractor. However after spending some time together with them, you change. As your heart longs for love the most, the girl longing for love would appear. You become confused, and finally come to conclusion: as long as the contractor grows to hate you***, they would leave you on their own. This way, you wouldn’t have to assign the same pain to them as the nun did to you. How stupid. You are really an idiot. Then why make contract? Wouldn’t it be meaningless? How could you have feelings for the person you intended to use?
Here’s one thing I can tell you clearly.
“Don’t underestimate me, C.C.! Do you think I didn’t know your weakness? Do you think I fell for your cheap ploys? For being manipulated by you, do you think I would hate you?”
(*) In the novel, it’s explained that one of the reasons C.C. sent Lelouch into her memory (and not just him, but many of her past contractors) is to make them hate her by showing them that she would ultimately betray them just like the nun did her. That is, if they haven’t hated her yet for ruining their life by giving them Geass.**
**This is one of the various instance where novels contradicts canon, as it was stated C.C. sent Lelouch within her past to actually protect him from the emperor, it is atually even stated by C.C.'s dark double herself who understood Lelouch was someone important to C.C. for her to send him over there My Own Thoughts : C.C.'s past didn't show her betraying her past contractors, it mostly showed how she came to acquire her geass and Code, the suffering she had to endure and the nun's betrayal, so it really doesn't make sense, Those image are unlikely to spread hatred, and Lelouch had already witnessed how C.C. was dealing with her past contractors with Mao, he didn't came to hate her anyway. R2 - Turn 4
Tumblr media
Once again Mononoke no ko translated some stuff about C.C. in the same post i linked above so you can check it again right there
It's a Monologue that Iwasa pictured right after C.C. and Lelouch's scene in Turn 23, after she comforted him about Zero Requiem being the right path to take.
‘I do not want to lose this man.’ Thought C.C. without any hesitancy. There’s a way for her not to lose him. However, he wouldn’t want to use this method, and even she… did not want to. Then what should she do? C.C. hadn’t come to understand the way of the world, even when she had lived for who knows how many years she still didn’t understand, had no way of knowing what is right and what is wrong, but she was sure of one thing. That he, the man named Lelouch Lamperouge, would not stop running toward death. He chose this path on his own will. He’s like a horse that couldn’t be stopped. She wanted to blame him, but couldn’t… She wanted to cry, but couldn’t. So… "Lelouch.” He said “Hm,” in response. “Do you remember, that time in Narita?” C.C. asked a bit out of the blue, that Lelouch felt a little confused. “Why suddenly…” She leaned on his back, then continued, “Why snow is white?” There’s an instant blank, before Lelouch immediately answered, “Because it forgot its original color.” “Then do you remember, Lelouch? Your original color.” “Stupid question,” he replied, finally back to his conceited tone. “I am me, I would never forget.” “Is that so…” “What about you, C.C.? Do you remember your original color?” “Who knows, but -” “But?” “At least right now, my color is your color, Lelouch.” Silence came. Then Lelouch laughed softly. “You selfish.” “Of course,” she wanted to cry a little - but instead, her face revealed a smile from the bottom of her heart, “it’s because I’m C.C.”
Another scene that was summarized is the Lelouch/C.C. hangar scene from Turn 24, you can see it in it's own post, once again by Mononoke no Ko, so no need to copy paste this time it's right here
My own Thoughts : Basically it doesn't say anything new, Iwasa tries to expand on the position of Lelouch and C.C. (But since we saw the whole scene between them without any cut till they even stumbled from the Guren crash, it's yet another contradiction with canon)
And the final scene which was translated is the ending of Turn 4, which is basically giving food to Lelouch is alive theorists, when, once again, this novelization contradicts canon in every way, shape or form, as you can see in this post here
The wagon was filled with hay. There was a girl sitting on it with waist long hair and incredible appearance, that's the first impression she gives to others. She was focused on folding a japanese origami, something completely irrelevant to the surroundings. Finally, the origami gradually took shape, it was a crane. The girl gazed satisfactorily at the crane for some moments before putting it on the hay. Then after stretching her body, she laid down on the hay vigorously, the wagon shook slightly, the horseman glanced backward without turning around. The girl didn't care, she inhaled the smell of the herbs bathed in sunlight, stared up at the sky and smiled sweetly. Then-
"The power of kings, Geass, will make you lonely." The blissful and ringing voice of C.C. echoed in the sky. "Heh, not at all, right, Lelouch?"
The horseman holding the reins still, glanced back. Before turning around, a faint smile suddenly appeared at the corners of his mouth. The wagon continued moving forward slowly with the pull of two bad horses.
The weather was mild and sunny. The sky was cloudless.
Translation courtesy of Ok_Wallaby9160 on Reddit.
That's about it for the Main story R2 novels; As a side piece, just like in S1 with the Red tracks Novels we have the Knight of Rounds novels
Knight of Rounds Novel
Tumblr media
Knights of Rounds (a novel following Suzaku alongside Gino and Anya, set mostly during the time between R1 and R2, although there is a special chapter that goes into the past and follows Marianne as a Knight of Rounds before she became an Empress) Once again, not much was translated, and I can't blame people on that, still you can find a translation of the first chapter about Gino by the amazingly motivated Ellen right there
For the Marianne chapter, I read it a long time ago and I only remember she was quite blood thirsty and mostly seemed to care for her children as long as they didn't get in her way (so very fitting with the Canon Marianne)
That's it for the R2 novels, There will probably a third post about miscelleanous novels, like the Talkin Rebellion that can be found in the Guidebook, But I won't mix those in there, they'll have their own post. Hope you enjoyed !

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, C.C. —Aesthetic
Tumblr media
Yuki Shiroi's Character & Personality
'C.C.', pronounced "C2", is a woman who's around three-hundred-years-old as a Leader of the Geass Order. Most of the time, she expresses little emotion or affection. C.C. is headstrong and has high standards. Ironically, she hates stubbornness, despite being quite stubborn herself. Though, these qualities are essential to her sense of self as that's "what makes me C.C.". She's pragmatic, focused on fulfilling her "contract", which expresses her selfish side. C.C. is isolated, preferring to act alone to solve personal matters. Thus, she's quite snarky, dismissive and apathetic towards most people. C.C. can also be quite secretive, being on par with her accomplice, albeit much less coordinated than the latter. Yet, she's something of a philosopher. C.C. muses about human nature, conflict and sees human history as a long line of struggle. Despite not living by it, she sees "survival of the fittest" as a simple way of life to follow. C.C. also holds a strong belief in the idea life requires purpose and focus to be called life. However, due to her tumultuous life, she's highly cynical about the nature of life itself. C.C. sees death as the definitive proof of life itself, as it shows life can come to an end. She believes without death, life can't be called "life", but it's merely experience of accumulated memories and actions. Additionally, C.C. sees the events of accumulation to be "worthless illusions". Nonetheless, she also has some positive thoughts on life too. C.C. often discusses the nature of love. In her childhood, she desired genuine love and kindness from others. Though, C.C. is cautious about the idea of love due to her experiences. Thus, she distances herself from others to avoid feeling pain again from those who've left her. Concurrently, C.C. expresses sympathetic towards others she relates to in rare cases. Regardless, she does express genuine kindness towards others in rare cases. C.C. mostly does this around her accomplice. She has a playful side towards him and is quite loyal to him, not because of their contract, but because she respects him. C.C. even openly respects those who meet her high standards. Eventually, she develops a growing sense of morality and comes to see the Ragnarök Connection as a presumptuous plan. Deep in her heart, C.C. is capable of remorse and regret for her actions. In the end, her outlook on life significantly improves. C.C. grows more positive and hopeful about humanity and the world. Most importantly, she regains her desire to live, overcoming her death wish. Finally endeavoring to find happiness once more in the new, gentler world.

Lelouch/Kallen Fanfiction Recommandation Alternate Universe Version
Here we go for a new list of fanfictions recommandations, this time we will focus on Alternate Universe (Not the Official Code Geass AU lol, general AU settings xD), being either very different from the original Code Geass setting, or quite similar with some similarities o/ I'm not an avid reader of AU but some are just too good and it would be a shame to not look upon them, so just as before, hope you'll find some interesting stuff amongst those !
Tumblr media
Just like before click on the title to read the fix and don't forget to review, even if it's just a thanks it's better than nothing ~ A Fairy Tale ; by Aenid This one is a Cinderella version starring Kallen and Lelouch as the infamous main characters; You get to see C.C. as the fairy Godmother, Milly as the step mother and other great surprises; It's super fun, characters are very in character and it's definitely made for fun while still having some fluff, definitely a must read (like all of the recos btw xD) House of Lamperouge ; by Blottyparchment Ok this one is tricky cause i started amazingly, with two chapters, a great build up, an amazing environment, but it was put on hiatus after chapter 2; Now I know the author, she is an amazing girl who translated a lot of Code Geass material back in th day and I don't give up on the idea that she might continue if she is reminded of this fic, so don't hesitate to enjoy those two fabulous chapter and leave a review ! o/ Pickle Jar; by Charredfeathers Oh how I love this work. It's a one shot, conclusive AU and it's just amazing, I can't say much without spoiling it but it's amazingly written, set up in some Victorian Era, and Lelouch and Kallen are absolutely perfect in this one. R E A D I T Graffiti; by Charredfeathers
Yeah some authors are just too good what can I say. Charredfeathers is one of the sweetest AU i've ever read starring Lelouch and Kallen, their characters and the storu have inspired me beyond the land of imagination, and even I couldn't explain why, I think they are just totally my type of character. Once again it's a one shot with a conclusion, so enjoy !
Self destruct ; by miss.licorice Ok big warning for this one, as it contains drug abuse, violence and stuff that might be triggering for people sensitive to this kind of stuff; It's basically an AU inspired by the story of Sid and Nancy, and if you know them, you get the general idea. Characters are full OOC on this one, and while I am not much into fics with OOC characters, the whole setting of this one is just facinating to me, so I had to include it. It's a very personnal choice and not everyone would be into it, but hey, it's my list of recos, so as long as I'm warning you I think it should be fine xD
Hearbreakers; by poison's Ivy
This one is an AU set in a very similar setting from the canon setting since it happens in Ashford; It's a sort of a game of will and secrecy between Kallen and Lelouch and if you liked their school personas (I personnally fell for them because of their school selves so xD) you should like this one
believe me, I'm lying; by piston heart This one is not so much of an AU it's it's a reincarnation fic, so it's technically in the same reality, but later, I guess, much latter ; A really nice what it version of what would happen if two almost lovers could meet in another life, with one of them knowing remembering everything thanks to a pizza addicted witch ? It's touching, entertaining and very heartwarming, while still being kinda sad since it still follows the ending of R2. Code Geass: Lazos de sangre; by AliceXS This one is an authentic AU which takes the character and set them off in a very modern setting for us; exit the Brittanian empire, welcome in the world of big industries, CEO and lawyer; The fic is seemingly going on in spanish and is being slowly translated in english but the chapters we have are already a great read with plenty of great moment so a great read; Don't hesitate to read it and review o/
Tumblr media
(personal note; did you noticed in Nunnally in Wonderland, Lelouch is actually the one dreaming ? I think it's nice that The mad hatter (Lelouch's) side kick, the march hare, is actually Kallen. Heh it comes from Lelouch pals, sorry not sorry *run away*)

Video
Rolo’s involvement in the story is pretty much over, so in order to add something else to this post here’s a video showing the moment when you get BK!Rolo from gacha. Written: “My reason for existing was Brother and nothing else” Voice: “I destroyed what was most important to me with my own hands. That’s why I have to fight!” Can’t find the logic in that statement, but okay. I actually gacha’d him before playing the event, so upon seeing these lines I was already fearing what was going to happen... and still thought there was no way Lelouch wouldn’t come back at the end of the story. Maybe Shirley and Rolo would have to work together to go rescue him from some different dimension (since this game has them) or the World of C or something?  Nope. Here, have some cutesy Rolo sticker to use as a protection charm.
Tumblr media
Let’s get this over with already. I’m not exactly sure why because, I’m sorry, I just really didn’t want to keep playing this event, but Shirley becomes Zero.
Tumblr media
She sends Rolo to rescue Nunnally like in Turn 18, except this time he actually does rescue her:
Tumblr media
Rolo “I finally found you, Nunnally”
Tumblr media
Nunnally “A voice I don’t know... Who are you?”
Tumblr media
Rolo “I’m Rolo. I’ve been asked to take you to a safe place.” I also killed Lelouch Lamperouge but I don’t think you know him. He was my bro.
Tumblr media
Nunnally “Take me?”
Tumblr media
 Rolo “Yes.”
GEASSED ROLO.
That’s it. No more. It’s over!! I’m free from having to keep soiling this ROLO blog with this NON-ROLO CHARACTER!! Ah, not really. Still have to post his Home and Dearness lines... I’m doing this for you, Daichuu.  There’s some more story scenes I guess, but Rolo only has like 2 lines left where he just takes Nunnally to Ashford and tells those gathered there that he was asked to do so. That’s Suzaku, Kallen, C.C., Nunnally, Zero and I can’t remember if there was anyone else. Zero reveals that she’s actually Shirley and that Lulu is gone, and the story ends with the Shirley who was with Ar accepting this version of herself. Nice fanfic.  Happy ending for everyone except those who will miss Lelouch, which is everyone from the main cast? Though Suzaku didn’t fire FLEIJA, so that’s millions of people who were saved thanks to Lelouch’s death. I think the moral here is that Rolo did a good job. I almost forgot, the characters all have profile descriptions which are usually just a summary of what happens to them during the story, but BK!Rolo has some extra fanfiction in his Profile #5:
Tumblr media
While having casual conversations with Shirley, at some point the topic of the locket attached to his phone was brought up. Rolo said “a locket for girls is weird, right?” without alluding to Nunnally, but when Shirley replied “I think it suits you”, he felt a strange warm feeling.   You know, that might have been sweet if this wasn’t a story where Lelouch was previously killed by Rolo.

Your arts are amazing! I'm looking forward your new arts of geass and titans.
What do you think about relationship of Suzaku and Lelouch before Zero Requiem? Аfter all the events. And do you have some headcanons about the unholy trinity in emperor period of time? ;) Maybe cute, funny or glass moments?
Oh, thank you so much! This means a lot, considering I’m a big fan of your art as well! I love your artstyle and am occasionally checking how if there’s something new.
About the boys, there’s just so much to unpack. Might be an obvious analysis, but I think a lot of the conflict comes from the way Suzaku projects his own self hatred from killing his father on Lelouch due to his methods. He cannot deal with what he done so he rejects everything Zero, and thus Lelouch, is. Other factors like Euphemia and the “live” geass pile up and complicate the problem. He can’t let go of his attachment to the Lelouch he used to know tho, which almost makes me believe he alienated past lelouch from present lelouch.
Lelouch, on the other hand, is always trying to close this gap between them and bring Suzaku back to him, even after he swears for the millionth time that Suzaku is no longer his friend. There is a lot of people that Lelouch cares about, and he was eventually ready to lose a lot of them, but never Suzaku (as C.C points out quite a few times).
SO…after the events in the world of C, Suzaku, in some level, comes to terms with living in this reality (since they all choose the future together), instead of some made up ideal one. In that moment of acceptance of the events that led him there, he also accepts Lelouch and once again comes to recognize him fully (instead of separating sides of him). Lelouch can also get a better grasp on the flaw of his ways for trying to force his wishes on others and recognizes his selfishness, agreeing with Suzaku.
In summary, I believe that this moment allows them to reconnect, and although they still have a bag full of issues to work on, they are once again able to be sincere with each other and show their true selves (even if not always communicating it verbally). I am ship biased, but I like to think that they started this new phase very rigid and unsure, but eventually development some sort of romantic relationship. Suzaku would have somewhat of a tough time figuring out what role C.C plays in Lelouch’s life and how he feels about it, but would come to understand it and adapt himself into this dynamic. Lelouch is the hugest simp and is rather happy with how things settled ( with added angst knowing it has an expiration date).
Lord, that was a lot. Since I already made a whole essay I will try to be brief about my headcanons abt THOSE MONTHS.
I have thousands of them, so I will just mention a few.
1- Whenever he can, Lelouch cooks. He would have it served to cc and suzaku in his private chambers (If his room in the Black Knights ship was big enough to have a whole library, I’m sure that the imperial chambers are equipped with at least one nice table). Not only fancy dinners, but simple things like breakfast and tea.
2- Unlike C.C, Suzaku has his own room (he often needs his own space), but that doesn’t mean he sleeps there every night 👀
3- Suzaku and C.C bonded over annoying Lelouch and picking up on his dramatic mannerisms. They don’t initially have any beyond-platonic interaction, but once they decide to kiss in front of the others, thinking that it would annoy Lelouch, but to everyone’s surprise he just goes 😳😳😳
4- The three of them spend a lot of time in the gardens (as previously shown in official art), laying on the grass or just sitting nearby a lake. Those are the most blissful moments for Lelouch, but they always bring him a sting of pain because they remind him what he is giving up.
5- About the empress dress, C.C wears it sometimes, unlike shown in the anime, but she’s picky about comfort, so she mostly settle’s back to the white undergarments/straight jacket, much to Lelouch’s displeasure.
I will have to stop here since this is already unbelievably long, but I’m always open to talk about this and I would love to hear your own takes on these topics!!! Feel free to always hit me up on my dm’s, if you want.

Thank you so much for sharing your writings and arts. Also thanks for answering my ask about SuzaLulu. I'm a new fan of this fandom, and it's kinda hard for me to find those who still love this series.
Can I ask your top 5 (or top 3) favorite characters from Code Geass? And why you loved them? And your top 5 favorite moments from the series?
of course ^^ thank you for sharing the interest with me. ill put my rambling below:
first things first, i am omitting lelouch and suzaku because i think it is too easy. the show wouldnt be what it is without them.
i dont know if i can tier these characters (since i would have to give it much more thought than im willing to put into currently) but here we go:
kallen - kallen is the only character with an actual backbone and moral compass on this entire show. interestingly enough, i dont think shes written as well as she should be. the episode about her and her mother was one of the episodes that hit the hardest during my initial watch through. i also really like the scene where she stops lelouch from taking a hit of refrain as well as when she kisses him goodbye during the un conference. she is a mixed person that chooses to side with the side of liberation versus the side of comfort, and that was something she was always doing. she would always be japanese, she would always fight for her people and for what is right. she is easily the most honorable character of them all.
c.c. - c.c. is one, if not the, most interesting immortal character i have ever seen. what attracts me the most to her is the fact that she is Not a Good Person. her life has been full of strife from before she got her code and afterwards. she's the reason mao's existence is as fucked up as it is. the whole time shes lelouchs accomplice, she knows that marianne is alive and what her (& charles') plan was for the world. its thanks to lelouch that she remembers how to be human again. shes hypocritical. shes wise but also immature. she damned lelouch by giving him a geass but she still grieves him at the end. hell, one of the final shots of her during zero requiem was her praying in a church, the same place where she was betrayed. its still obviously a place of comfort to some level--which, i think is incredibly symbolic for her character. shes cryptic and hard to understand (both on purpose and not). shes sad. lonely. self sufficient. despite her long years, she is still human.
shirley - shirley represents love (not romantic love specifically, but all kinds of love) in code geass. going from her crush on lelouch, to losing her father, to learning lelouch is zero, to SAVING him from being captured--then following up after she regains her memories and how despite everything, she still wants to be by lelouch's side because she realizes that he is alone. she tells suzaku that she loves lelouch when suzaku uses past tense. she tells him that shes forgiven lelouch--which is Much easier said than done on shirley's end vs suzaku's end, but i digress. she is then murdered because of rolo's own twisted love. shes' an interesting point of view into the story because shes very much a civilian in comparison to the other major characters. there are a lot of shots of everyday people throughout cg, but shirley being a main character in this sense puts her up there for me, though id argue that shes more of a writing device versus an actual character, too.
v.v. - (smt3 hell rider voice) here we go. the person reading this might be thinking--huh? v.v.? and yes, i say. my interest in v.v. comes more from things that were implied more than they were shown, as most of said things are recalled by other characters. like Every character i am interested in, he is a hypocrite. he is as conniving as his brother, their wish being one of truth while they were surrounded by lies. they would always have each other. but then came marianne, the lady knight, the flash. neither charles nor v.v. couldve ever predicted her, nor how much she changed charles--regardless if that is true or not. what really intrigues me is that it was implied that v.v. also loved marianne. v.v., an immortal stuck in a childs body, their only true tether to the world (his brother) and the part of the world he must have desired the most (marianne). i actually am planning to write a fic about this premise because it interests me so deeply. dont hold your breath for it tho, haha.
ive been working on this for longer than id like to admit so ill just do a little rapid round for other characters i really like.
honorable mentions:
-ROLO
-ohgi
-mao
truthfully i think every character is very complex in their own way, especially by the end of code geass. im not a fan of nina, but the final scene with her and emperor lelouch before they use the anti-fleija spear (lance of longinus, cough) is another moment i really like.
tldr; code geass has some great character writing sometimes. keyword sometimes.

One of the many reasons why I prefer Kalulu and consider it the best ship for Lelouch is because of the positive influence that both exert on the other and that the opposite willingly accepts. Something that is fundamental in relationships.
Tumblr media
On Lelouch's side, it's several things. Through Zero, he gives her beliefs based on justice, equality and freedom, he gives her a purpose to fight (I won't say objective so as not to confuse it with the other narrative concept), and he gives her hope for a better world and determination to keep forward. Kallen said that if it weren't for Zero she would still be a terrorist until the day she died.
Tumblr media
On Kallen's side, we have that moment in episode 7 of R2 where she urges him to go back to being Zero. Fanboys criticized Kallen, calling her selfish and only looking out for her own interests. The truth is that Kallen tried to do what Lelouch at the end of the episode did: give him new motivation to keep going and that motivation was to discover a motivation bigger than himself. Kallen is a selfless person. Therefore, she alludes to the Black Knights and the Japanese who placed their faith in Zero to remind Lelouch of the responsibility he has to them and ask them not to fail them. It doesn't quite work out, but her concern for him brings Lelouch out of his depression and he takes him to Ashford Academy where he finds that motivation that transcends him. Also, Kallen saves Lelouch from the drug trail. More points for her.
I find it pertinent and significant that Kallen is the first person to ask Lelouch to make his lies true (only Suzaku has credit for this and it's not fair). Why? Because on Kaminejima Island was where Kallen found out that Zero's entire cause was a farce by Lelouch to cover up his true intentions and reasons, and instead of breaking down, Kallen turned those lies into her own truth. She chooses to be an ally of justice, a believer in equality, and a defender of freedom. I find it admirable that, despite Lelouch's lies and him using her, Kallen isn't affected. She has enough strength to overcome her pain and the damage caused by her. That's what I call resilience.
I can't say the same about the other girls.
Tumblr media
It is true that Lelouch's love, kindness, gentleness, and compassion undermine C.C.'s cynicism, renew her optimism, and bring out her kindness. The problem is that C.C. repays him with dishonesty, disloyalty, abandonment and terrible advices. Don't be fooled. The advices she gives him in the first season are functional for the story, but if you review the human aspect you will see that it is harmful. Recommending that a person with trauma related to loss, who is insanely distrustful of everyone, and who protects themselves behind a mask, be isolated is not exactly a healthy idea. Nor is it appropriate to recommend that a person with post-traumatic stress disorder continue with the war, even at the great risk of developing Complex PTSD. Needless to say, she agreed to his suicidal plan to atone for his sins and that she used him for almost the entire series and never expressed regret. (Seriously, it's better to just see C.C. and Lelouch's relationship as partners in crime before it gets murkier.)
Tumblr media
Shirley's case is quite the opposite. She brings kindness, warmth, compassion, support, and humanity to Lelouch. She even offered him a good lesson about love. In narrative terms, Shirley increased Lelouch's likability towards us, the viewers. Except for that time when Lelouch decided to decimate the Order of Geass for Shirley, she was one of Lelouch's most positive incentives. He, on the other hand, brought her suffering, lies, some brain damage, a mental breakdown and death. I know that he didn't do it deliberately and that Lelouch suffered that pain that brought him to Shirley, however, it doesn't take away that he did it anyway. Shirley would have still been alive, if not for Lelouch. Before you attack Rolo, I remind you that Lelouch manipulated him so that he could more easily use his skills and knowledge to his advantage. Shirley's death was the consequence of using a young man who was a victim of child abuse and without awareness of right and wrong.
Tumblr media
I'm not going to go into detail about Suzaku and Lelouch's entire complicated relationship. I'll just say that I think it could have become a beautiful bromance, if that relationship had grown under better circumstances. I love their dynamic and the treatment and development of their relationship, but I'm not going to ignore the toxic parts and this friendship is.
Tumblr media
Conclusion: although Lelouch and Kallen's relationship has its little problems that need to be worked on, the damage is not serious (it could well be worse). They still have genuinely healthy and valuable moments. The two are a positive presence in each other's lives.

In Tsubasa of Phantasia, in season 1 Lelouch focuses on defeating the Emperor, Lelouch confronts the Emperor in the Sword of Akasha, where he learns the truth about his mother and Charles' plans. He denies their attempt to create a new world and kills both Charles and Marianne, with C.C., Suzaku and Syaoran's group. After Lelouch becomes Emperor, Lelouch abolishes all the oppressive laws and class systems of Britannia, frees every colony, and puts down all resistance to his goals. Without Syaoran's group, in the meantime, Lelouch did discover Chester's curse from Bête Noire. That makes Lelouch fear for Syaoran's life and that's why Lelouch saves many lives and aliens from another world as much as possible and Lelouch was the one who founded Norourstjarnan University.
Lelouch was an Emperor(Or King) who was the ruler of the Britannian Empire(Located in the United Kingdom in the real world). Lelouch focuses on preparing and defeating the army of darkness that Bête Noire mentioned, creating Area 99 as the safe place for aliens from another world and letting Poara be the leader inside Area 99. As researchers around the world let Sigmund Corporation be the one responsible.
Tumblr media
Without C.C.(Because C.C. joined Syaoran's group), Lelouch with a highly intelligent individual who is also calm uses planning as much as possible before the future or countries will be ruined and waiting for Syaoran's group to return. In battle, Lelouch is very cold and tactical. He is willing to sacrifice civilians and soldiers alike if that is what it takes to achieve the objective. No matter how careful he is, but he can also forget and be clumsy. So he calls himself not yet perfect even with the power of geass. The reason why Lelouch worries about Syaoran is because Lelouch suffered traumas and further losses that deepened his resolve. Lelouch didn't want Syaoran to walk the same path as him and to forbid that path. In Season 8(Story of Daily Life), Sonic will be the one who closes that tragic path for Lelouch. But it's too late to save Lelouch. Lelouch will make Sonic realize how painful as path of the king who ruled around the world in the future.
Lelouch has a really important role in Tsubasa of Phantasia.

do you have any specific headcanons about any of the code geass character's sexuality? maybe even how they've come to realize their attraction/ lack of because a lot of their lives are occupied by other stuff
I do have headcanons! Some popular, some likely not. You brought up a major point: the majority of characters are too occupied and don’t necessarily view sexuality as a priority. This makes it a prolonged journey of discovery, unique to each character.
Lelouch
Asexual or demisexual
Tumblr media
This is something I’ve hardly ever heard another fan say. Most people think Lelouch easily falls on any part of the attraction scale (and I admit that is highly plausible), but I believe otherwise.
There is more to Lelouch than having occupancies—and a lot of them, at that. Lelouch was simply robbed of love. Love from his parents, his family, his country. Even the bonds he formed with his fellow classmates are forged, since it is not the true him they have befriended. This makes love like a foreign language to Lelouch. He might not understand the premise of getting butterflies or blushing or heart skittering in someone’s presence, and would probably just brush it off. Part of him may think romance is stupid, even, so he would curse at himself for even experiencing attraction.
But I wouldn’t say it’s entirely impossible for him to be attracted to someone, and that’s where demisexuality comes in. Although it’s safe to say it would take a lot of time for him to come to terms with it; getting doubts, not really understanding what he is feeling, not knowing the type of relationship he wants to have with the person. He asks himself a ton of questions to reach a concrete answer.
Suzaku and Kallen
Bisexual
Tumblr media
Similarly to Lelouch, Suzaku and Kallen have had a rocky relationship with love. To them, being in the company of someone who makes them happy is more than they can wish for.
So that is the very beginning of attraction to them: appreciating the person’s presence, laughing and being at ease with them. Then they realise that this person is special to them, that what they feel towards that person is different from other people. They start relishing the moments they have together—which are probably few, given how busy Suzaku and Kallen are—and decide that their feelings warrant much more than a friendship.
And Suzaku and Kallen wouldn’t let their attraction be constricted to a single gender, not when they can feel a strong connection.
Nunnally and Euphemia
Panromantic
Tumblr media
Nunnally and Euphemia are the kind to fall in love with qualities, such as kindness and goodwill. Especially since they wish to have a kind world, and seeing that reflected in people who show kindness to everyone, even in little gestures, is enough to spark love.
Coming to a realisation can be a bit of a ride, from adoring the person, seeing how special they are, and wanting to care for that person. Little by little, it adds up to simply loving anyone with a good heart.
C.C.
Aromantic pansexual
Tumblr media
This one may be a little unpopular.
Simply put, C.C. is bored. She has been through every kind of relationship you can think of: long-term, short-term, friends with benefits, chance meetings, friends turned lovers, even marriages. Nothing can impress her anymore. Love is too predictable, and she’s had more than a fair share of it.
She can let herself be attracted to others, but it wouldn’t exactly be special to her. Her asexuality might branch into demisexuality, if one special person manages to take hold of her tired heart.
Schneizel
Pansexual
Tumblr media
I’ve heard many, including people who haven’t seen Code Geass, make comments about how Schneizel seems pansexual, and I definitely agree.
We can see in the anime how his flirtations are not tamed, how he can easily put on a dazzling smile and shower someone in compliments. We only see him doing so with women, but I believe this can apply to men just as easily (one specific man in mind, of course).
Since giving and receiving flirtations is commonplace to Schneizel, realisation that he is attracted to a person comes in the different little things: laughing a little harder, having a more genuine smile instead of a typical polite one, unexpectedly getting butterflies at a compliment.
Cornelia
Aromantic asexual
Tumblr media
Cornelia strikes me as the kind of person to keep from something as love; she views it as a waste, a weakness, even. She holds a formal relationship with pretty much everyone except her siblings. As expected of royalty, she never lets anyone beyond her walls, and in the rare case that would happen, she would maintain formality. She’s also not the type to get flustered or get butterflies easily.
I don't think she would go as far as to label herself, and probably doesn't pay heed to everything altogether.
Clovis
Pansexual
Tumblr media
This may just be my interpretation, but Clovis seems to be one of the few characters to have a nice and easy journey with love. He is quick to both catch feelings and realise he is in love. Similarly to Nunnally and Euphemia, it is the qualities of a person that make him fall in love, so it's easy to picture him being attracted to any gender.
Milly
Lesbian
Tumblr media
There’s canon proof to back this up, right? We didn’t miss what she did to Shirley and Kallen…
There was her little crush on Lelouch when he first came to Ashford, but I can see it was easily debunked. If she were attracted to more than one gender, she would definitely be female-leaning. Besides, not wanting to marry Llyod Asplund? Speaks volume.
Rolo
Demiromantic pansexual
Tumblr media
Being viewed as a tool, being used by everyone around him, Rolo would find it difficult to develop attraction. He’s used to locking up his feelings, and others not feeling for him.
However, it wouldn’t be impossible for him to be attracted to someone, granted they form a true bond at first. Rolo is the kind to be overwhelmed when receiving affection, given how rarely he receives it, and so it wouldn’t take long for him to have his feelings grow. His attraction isn’t limited to gender, not when he is able to find something so special.

Could the Unholy Trinity take on Westeros? Without Geass, If possible?
Wasn't expecting, but boy do I LOVE THIS!
I honestly think they can... 😆 But it also depends on how powerfully they're placed or ingrained in the world. So let's say we reprise their roles from Code Geass into the realm of GoT...
Lelouch is a child of royalty (a Prince who's very far into the line of succession though. That makes him unlikely to take the throne through normal means, and he's more likely to be married off to some lord's daughter to secure or cement an alliance).
Suzaku is a lord paramount's son (poised to inherit his father's seat, skilled in hand-to-hand combat, and he's even deadlier when he's mounted on a horse, so he's a favorite in the tourneys).
C.C. is an ambiguous woman who doesn't hail from Westeros, but has found her place in the royal court because of her friendship with Marianne, and even in the Small Council later on, because of Lelouch (she would likely be from Essos and she would most likely be a sorcerer. Think a Varys-like character, but with Melisandre's capabilities. She's also been alive for a very very long time).
Their ability to take over Westeros would heavily rely on Lelouch's unbending desire for the throne, and his talent for politics and strategy (and the fact that Lelouch plays dirty all the time), Suzaku's ability and influence as a warrior and as the son of a lord paramount, and C.C.'s careful maneuvering around the court and the city that she resides in.
Throw in buckets and buckets of drama, vengeance, murder, betrayal, romance, and civil war, and we have a lovely story I'd pay thousands to see onscreen. 😂
But if their roles are vastly different (like if all three come from commoner backgrounds or what GoT deems as low places in society, then they would have to struggle extra hard, wouldn't they?)
