I just have to say that it's so weird reading how transphobes think of trans bodies as mutilated and gross when they never would have thought my body pre-transition was worthy. The "argument" of mutilated beauty that transphobes have tossed around is just a fear mongering tactic, because they don't tend to actually love or appreciate and see value in bodies that don't "neatly" fit into male and female, with no overlap and no nuances.

Can I get platonic yandere headcanons for all of the founding members of the Justice League?
I definitely can! Also sorry it took me so long to get to this. I'm still learning about how the inbox stuff works.
I'm going to have to make this in parts because it's alot to look at with all 7 members. This is part 1 of ?
I'm gonna use the founding members from the animated universe. More members and I love Martian Manhunter. If you were looking for the Snyder universe let me know and I'll edit the post and add Cyborg for you. 🤗
Warnings: kidnapping, gaslighting, obsessive behavior, general yandere creep stuff.
Platonic yandere justice league members part 1
Superman
You were a scientist at LexCorp
After some questionable experiments you knew you had to blow the whistle
So you went to the Daily Planet.
That's where it all stared.
So smart with a kind heart, how could he not protect you?
He's deluded himself completely.
He can't see how he can be the villain in anyone's story let alone yours.
He's very aware of his own strength thankfully.
You are more of a risk to yourself than he is. At least physically 👀
You'd be moved to a farmhouse almost right away.
When it comes to kidnapping you, he has no self control, it's near instant.
he knows how fragile humans are and he refuses to take any chances.
No matter how much you pleaded with him it was no use.
He was the only one who could help you and stop Lex.
This man has a scary amount of patience. No amount of hitting or screaming is going to set him off.
He will subconsciously prolong any solution that would make Lex and his people less of a threat to you.
He'd insist on sharing a bed. If he was anyone else you'd be worried he would try something.
If he wanted that kind of thing from you, you knew he could just make you.
So you were pretty sure whatever this was it was at least a platonic infatuation.
At night he'd hold you so tight it was difficult to move.
A physical reminder of what you already felt inside, trapped.
There was no escaping that farm. Anywhere in the city he could hear you.
He'd hear the front door open or your panting as you tried to run for the nearest road.
He wouldn't allow any kind of phones or computers in the house.
Why would he? Need help? He'll be there faster than any cop. You are lonely? That's fine he'd love to have hour long talks about anything you want.
Batman
Your best bet is to play along for years maybe. How ever long it takes for him to maybe let you make a grocery run alone.
He found you on the streets. Maybe it was your sad eyes or your dirty face but he knew he had to take you in.
He'd tell himself he could help you learn to fight. That you'd make a great Robin.
Deep down he knew he'd never let you fight in any way.
He's not like Superman. He knows how much he cares for you is unhealthy. He knows it's wrong to take you in and effectively trap you in a huge manor but what else can he do?
He is a world class manipulator. He also has far less patience then Superman.
Too many escape attempts and he's going to make a plan.
He'd go as far as to allow you to "escape". Only to orchestrate some horrible traumatic event so he can find you and save you all over again.
Depending on how strong willed you were the worst it would be.
It was twisted and horrible but he almost craved reassuring you.
He loved your tears so long as they weren't for a real reason.
Bruce kept a tight lid on his emotions. You'd never see him lose it. He'd never show he was upset with you.
Despite this being a very unconventional child/parent relationship his go to punishment is normally grounding and lost of privileges.
You'd be home schooled of course.
He isn't all that hands on unsurprisingly.
He'd ask one of the other kids to keep en eye on you or even another justice league members.
Asking them for help wouldn't work.
The kids are on board with Bruce. Even if they weren't what could they do?
As for the other JL members he'd tell them you were mentally ill and confused.
He'd get his colleagues/friends admiration for being so selfless by raising a sick child and you'd just look crazy.
Bruce is not known for his affection but he does try.
If you are crying or screaming he might try and comfort you with a hug or by rubbing your back.
He's not the best at comforting words either but his little acts of kindness are where he shines
He'd do his best to make most of your days as structured and predictable as possible.
You'd be kept in the best health imaginable. whether you liked it or not.
Anything you can ask for he'd give you, so long as you don't ask for freedom.
He even makes time to tuck you in every night no matter your age.
If he has time he might even read to you.
You probably are never getting free of him and his kids but your best bet would be utilize the uncontrollable.
Batman is a planner. He likes to be able to predict things.
Try and wait till something goes majorly wrong.
All of Arkhams prisoners being released or an alien invasion are your only chances of slipping out of that place. You'd only get one shot though.
Diana isn't crazy right off the bat.
Wonder Woman
(This one might be the only non gender neutral one.)
You were an anthropologist given the rare opportunity to study the amazonians from the island of Themyscira.
She is cool under pressure and isn't easily impressed.
After so long of staying there she'd start to feel like you were her sister.
But once she's invested in you there is no going back.
She would follow you back to whatever city you called home.
She isn't shy about her sisterly love for you. There would be no mind games with her.
She respects you too much for that.
She is so direct about it she would likely just tell you, you were going to go back to the island with her and be with her forever.
Depending on your reaction towards her directness she may not even make you.
She might be okay with you just visiting. For a while at least.
She's confident and self assured.
If you liked being around her as much as she likes being around you things would be easy.
If not life was going to be hard and potentially painful.
Rejecting her affection and forthcomingness will break her heart.
She would blame herself and work to be better.
Unfortunately being better to her means giving you even less space.
She'd make you come back with her.
An island full of tall strong women all who listen to Diana's will.
You are not escaping.
She is near impossible to trick twice if you have already tried to get away from her.
That being said it wouldn't be all that bad.
She would be painfully gentle with you. So long as you just listen.
You are her little sister after all.
She differs from Kent and Bruce in a big way.
She would train you, she is pragmatic and understands one day she may not be there to protect you.
Long and rigorous training sessions would be the norm for a while.
On Themiscyra you'd have much more freedoms. You would even be able to walk around alone if you showed you can handle it.
Your happiness is her second priority after your safety.
She'd being you anything you wanted from your part of the world.
She would like for you to participate in amazonian traditions and customs but she'd never make you. Even if she wants to sometimes
She'd relish in watching you acclimate to her world.
She would insist her sisters treat you with the love and respect she feels you deserve.
Your only hope of escape would be to somehow get off the island and disappear.
Nothing sort of complete disappearance would work. If she ever caught you again you wouldn't be leaving that island for a second time.
More to come hopefully soon. There will be 2 or 3 parts in total not sure yet. Hope you enjoyed!

I know a lot of us are sus of Circe and as much as I love and adore her I do think she is bait
My currently theory and hope is that she doesn't realise she's bait and isn't doing it intentionally, she might have been sent to a more research area of team rocket than lil twoeys alterations lab area as while her state is tampered with she's still like pure mew while twoey has had other dna spliced into him, I suppose it makes sense one for studying the pure if altered genetic strain and one for further alterations perhaps enhancements depending on the dna added into twoey
You've mentioned she only knows as much as her human people and if they're just more of a research leaning group then they of course wouldn't really be told much just told to study Circe and her growth and abilities until she's been sufficiently studied enough and put into a job or used for further experimentation using her dna to make MORE mewtwo potentially planned to use the information collected from the twoey experiment to splice and enhance Circes offspring of course with no twoey that research isn't available.
The higher ups who know about Meau from like security tapes I assume because how else do they know what Meau did saving mew and twoey likely know the genetic connection and assume Meau will come for her extra grandchild and maybe told the research devision bits and pieces so that it would be repeated so Circe would realise there's others out there and reach out for help.
Maybe the research devision kind of pressured Circe to do it hence Circe desperate language is Circe is being manipulated and made to manipulate twoey to get Meau as desperation increases emotional driven responses rather than logical ya know it'd push twoey to have to tell Meau and then subsequently Meau to act to get her other grandchild as clearly they're distressed. It might be that the research devision has pure intent and wants to purely study Meau out of fascination but seeing as they're likely connected to team rocket it wouldn't end well with other areas trying to capture and detain Meau for experimentation and control no doubt.
If they are semi innocent just perhaps manipulating cohersing Circe to bring Meau to them it might play into that animation of Meau telling a human they will never hurt her again. A human researcher tries to tell her they just want to study and understand her and they never intended any harm for her. And it just brings back memories of the people who didn't act and didn't want harm to come to her and yet still stood by. "You never intended to harm me?" and yet look at what you've done to my family. You didn't hurt her physically but you've hurt what she cares about which is worse. She was alone too long to have everything taken from her ya know? Deranged feral Meau moment plz my beloved
Idk these are my thoughts and rambles about it I think Circe is innocent but still bait or being cohersed and maybe knows it but like what else can she do really? I'm just hoping she isn't intentionally doing it but then again if she doesn't know Meau is her grandmother... Might be misplaced spite of why did you save them but not ME?! Why was my mother and that two worth saving?! Idk hm thoughts and rambles lmao. The braincells be going this morning
Eheheh,,, there’s a lot of thought in this, I will say this theory right here is the one to pay attention too. Can’t which part, but it’s definitely something to watch ;3
Also dw we will be getting a very liberating deranged Meau moment for this arcs animatic XD

What is the devil's nature anyway?
Let's talk about what the so-called "devil's nature" is and what traits are inherent in devils. We know from the manga that devils usually have some sort of instinct to dislike humans. That's all by now. The problem is that devils are just as intelligent beings as humans (perhaps more intelligent, considering that Darkness Devil has gained some great wisdom over his long life, I don't know). They are capable of learning and drawing conclusions based on their experiences and knowledge, and they are not animals following their instincts, because if that were the case, Chainsaw Man would be a completely different manga. In general, devils here have the same free will as humans.
Tumblr media
I've seen a lot of people convinced that devils are some kind of plain evil, devoid of any kind of virtues simply because that's what they are, despite the fact that this is completely contrary to what is shown in the manga. Compassion, remorse, selflessness and love are called by many as something alien to them.
We have Angel Devil, who blamed himself so much for the deaths of people that they appeared in his nightmares, and who formed strong bonds first with the villagers and then with Aki. Then we have Power, who we were able to fully watch go from the point where she didn't care about anyone, including herself, to the point where she desperately does everything she can to save the person she cares about. Nayuta was also willing to sacrifice himself to ensure the safety of a human she loved. Makima shows some degree of remorse, despite the fact that her environment wasn't even dispositioned to develop such feelings (I don't think she could have been insincere in the beach scene, since Aki and Angel Devil were already under her control and it didn't make sense for her to manipulate them). In fact, it's in regards to Makima that I most often come across nonsense like "well, they're devils, obviously they're inherently bad" as fandom struggles with the idea of her not being universally evil, but that would also mean that characters like Power and Angel Devil are no different, and I don't think the same people would like that. Now that we've got that out of the way, how can all these traits not be an integral part of the "devil's nature" if devils have the natural potential to develop them?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's also a common idea that devils are killing machines obsessed with genocide, but in Nayuta's example, we see, we see that devils may not even like killing at all. The manga often shows that even unfriendly devils' first reaction to humans isn't always to kill them.
Tumblr media
Finally, we come to the individual devil's nature. Like I said, disliking humans is literally the only known thing the devils can share with each other, according to the manga. So I roll my eyes every time I read something along the lines of "wow, Nayuta chose Denji's happiness above her own, she defeated her Control Devil nature". I mean, what do we even know about the "Control Devil nature"? Some attribute Nayuta's innate tendency toward dictatorial behavior or possessiveness, but I don't see the point in considering it anything more than fanfiction until the manga itself points out that such things take place. What then is Famine Devil nature? Eating sweets for five? It's more like people jump to premature conclusions on their own, and then when they don't match reality run to write nonsense about "nature vs nurture", an idea that has already been horribly twisted by fandoms.
Yes, of course, devils in general are very dangerous for humans, and in the war with them (part two calls it that), countless numbers become victims. Still, devil characters in manga are just as complex as human characters, and I find it very reductive to try to simplify them in this way. The author has already humanized the devils enough for us to ignore it.

Saren and my OC thots
So backstory on her power bullshit here
His methods of training her to use her abilities are brutal, and he punishes failure severely. He didn't become a Spectre by being a gentle and forgiving person, and as a teacher he does NOT hold back on a civilian like her. He's using her to undo the Indoctrination that he suspects Sovereign of doing to him, and he decided to use other Indoctrinated victims as her training dummies.
"Peer into their mind, feel their emotions and experiences. Visualize it: strands from Sovereign and the Reapers wrapped around their brain. Now reach in and rip it out." "I can't...That isn't how it works for me--" "Then find another way to visualize it. I've seen you manipulate people using your own form of Indoctrination--" "In small ways! For self defense! And these people are already being controlled by something who's better at this than I am. I can't do it, I can't fix them--" "Fine. I'll shoot this one and we'll start with a new one tomorrow. One way or the other, they're being freed from Sovereign's control; whether you want it to be with your power or with my pistol is your choice."
She's unconsciously influenced people and organic beings around her before, and he swears he starts to feel her influencing him in addition to Sovereign in his head. He wants to use her as a shield against Indoctrination, so he insists on keeping her close at all times unless he has to go out on missions. Eventually he gets so insistent that he forces her to share his quarters, so that way he can get that passive benefit of her power while he sleeps.
And the sad part is, he's actually right! She is able to influence him and over time slows Sovereign's progress in Indoctrinating him and others, but she just doesn't have the experience that a fully-developed Reaper does. But the more she does, the more Sovereign notices and decides that this organic may become a problem. By that time though, the events of ME1 are taking place and despite how Indoctrinated Saren is, she's unconsciously left a sort of "bug" in Sovereign's indoctrination. Any being indoctrinated by Sovereign also feels that unconscious desire to not harm her--and beings indoctrinated by other Reapers will feel an unconscious hesitance that they have to be forced to push past.
This makes her a valuable asset in ME2, as the Collectors are organic hybrids like Saren that she can influence and control with enough training and the Geth won't target her unless another Reaper like Harbinger overrides them personally ("ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL").
Back to Saren and that obsession though, it's as fucked up as you'd imagine. He hates humans and resents them, including this one. ESPECIALLY this one, since he has to rely on her to retain a sense of self. And when he's already forcing them to constantly be with him, and he's looking for some kind of outlet for everything he's doing and dealing with...she's a victim in more ways than one. The worst part is that she can see and sense everything he feels because of her empathic abilities: the hatred and resentment for her, the desperation in wanting to keep his mind together and saving the galaxy, the repressed lust that gets closer and closer to the surface, the fear thinking about how impossible it is to stop the Reapers...She senses that he's about to hold her down before he even does it.
Even when Saren does get taken over completely by Sovereign's indoctrination, he still has that "bug" and instead of killing OC, he offers to train her to Indoctrinate others for Sovereign. It's seen firsthand how effectively Saren has improved her abilities, and she IS another organic that can act so effectively on its behalf. Perhaps the other Reapers could integrate her mind into the Reaper network--they could make an organic Reaper for the first time without having to manufacture one, and it's a human just like Shepard. During the Citadel attack, Saren throws her into a bunker guarded by Geth and encrypts the location on his Omnitool; just in case he fails (and, on some level, he hopes Shepard can stop him), the software in his own body transmits the coordinates to Shepard's tool when he dies.
The crew finds OC at the location but weren't expecting a hostage. If Garrus is in the party when Shepard finds her, she's so traumatized by Saren that she flinches at his sudden movements, and then immediately apologizes profusely and because strong emotions amplify her powers she starts to sound a little bit unhinged.
"I'm sorry, I'm not...I'm not resisting! And I know you're not...not him--you don't think the same things and feel the same things when you look at me. You're confused, but not like he is--was. He's dead, I felt that. And you don't want to hurt me. You...god, you all are pitying me. You're thinking of everything he might have done to me. And you hate that you didn't find out about me and rescue me sooner. And you're looking at the mandible marks by my collar. You wish Saren hadn't disintegrated so you can kill him yourself. And...please, all of you, stop thinking so much. Too many thoughts, too much anger and...please, get me out of here."
She has a lot of self-loathing based around her abilities, and Saren just makes them worse. He uses her insecurity about being weak against her, berating her for being a parasite like the Reapers. The only way she can survive is by manipulating and leeching off of beings around her. She can hate him and fear him as much as she wants, but they both know that codependency is how she thrives. She can't even turn off her power to influence the people around her, and he uses that to rub more salt in the wound.
"Have you ever thought about how everyone who cares about you might be Indoctrinated by you? Your friends, family, coworkers, everyone who you meet are being subtly influenced when they're around you. Your personality, your behavior, everything you think is likeable and draws people to you...it isn't why they care. It's your Indoctrination. You've told me countless times you can't turn it off, haven't you? Instead of trying to waste that gift, make it into a weapon. Stop sniveling about your lack of control and realize that you have enough control to fight the strongest beings in the galaxy."
For someone being Indoctrinated and training her to weaponize her ability to manipulate, he sure is a manipulative son of a bitch, isn't he?

In that part of the series where Akaza tells Douma to not touch him, and he responds with that iconic expression, do you think he was upset or maybe just shocked?
// Neither, if I'm honest, but that also depends on interpretation. I write Douma as someone who isn't inherently violent or prone to violence. But he is cruel. And his behavior towards Akaza, to me, demonstrates that. So! Let's dissect the anime version of the scene together :D ( because it's easier and because I prefer the artwork OAWIEFJA )
Tumblr media
Douma took the second spot from Akaza in spite of being 1/3rd of his age and not remotely as skilled with martial arts or as diligent as a Kizuki. That's a huge blow to Akaza's ego. So Akaza is, predictably, very sour about it and Douma knows that he hates him and doesn't respect him at all. Hell, Akaza is even aloof towards other demons and prefers the company of humans ( RED FLAG!!! ) That's what at the foundation of their interaction. And when approaching him, Douma knows all of this. He might lack empathy but he's not stupid.
Tumblr media
Now, a part of the fandom argues that Douma just wanted to make friends here. And in part I do subscribe to the idea, in the way that this is Douma's only way of trying to connect with others. But, there's two points I'd like to make that paint this interaction in a different light, because to me it's not as innocuous as it seems.
Douma has essentially never been treated as if he's on the same level as others and has learned to present a superificially kind and amicable face. In the cult, as the Lord Founder, Douma is always in control of his interactions with the cultists, whose lives he believes he is 'saving' by putting them out of their misery; so that tells us how he views other people in relation to him. He feels entitled to control their fate.
Here we can make the argument that Akaza is not a human, but a demon, and so Douma should view him as more of an equal in that regard. But Akaza is, undoubtedly, the Kizuki with the most humanity left in him. And that both draws Douma in ( his whole story is a quest for his own humanity, after all ) and repulses him at the same time ( because he views humans as pitiful and weak minded )
Tumblr media
Watch how Douma gets all up in his face. His hold on Akaza is very oppressive. That could also be blamed on his poor understanding of personal boundaries, demonstrated by how quick he is to invade others' space ( grabbing Gyokko's head, hugging Shinobu, touching Akaza ) And there one could make the argument that Douma is a child who hasn't been handled properly by his parents and thus wasn't taught boundaries or is affection deprived.
There's probably a hint of truth to all of that. But what matters is the end result. Akaza asks him to remove his hand, first under his breath. Then, Douma turns around with an air of 'you had something to say to me shortie?'—
Tumblr media
And to me that face confesses to what the true intention is. His smile does not reach his eyes. His gaze is gleaming. His eyebrows are raised in a mocking fashion. Bro looks like he's about to lick him. And everyone knows Akaza is notoriously reactive, so that face might as well have secured Douma the punch.
Tumblr media
And, if I haven't convinced you about what this bitch is doing here, he goes and makes this face and his eye crinkles mischievously—
Tumblr media
So that's where the inconsistency between what Douma says he is/wants and what he actually is/wants begins. Yes, I do believe Douma wants to make friends and I do believe he craves to relate to others and experience the full spectrum of sentiment. But he goes about it in dysfunctional ways, because that's all he's equipped with. His arsenal includes gaslighting and manipulating others, as well as provoking reactions out of them. It's not necessarily violent, but it is cruel. And sadistic towards Akaza, frankly, because he proceeds to heal the blows immediately in front of everyone and humiliate him in that way by making him look comparatively very weak.
TL/DR: To me it reads as a smug look. He's not upset, he probably expected the reaction, hell, even hoped for it. That's not to say it was done out of pure sadomazochism, because Upper Two is more complex than that. Douma does crave intense physical experiences, specifically pain. It's all part of his quest to feel something. I can imagine Akaza's punches are on the higher end of the pain spectrum, too. But, personally I do believe that Douma stands by his word here that this is 'how you nurture friendship' in his mind. With cruelty, which is the only way he has ever experienced human interactions by that point.
You know, in the same fashion as a kindergartener would pull another kid's schoolbag open to make friends. Or yank their hair. Or steal their lunch and run around the hallway laughing with it.
Kids can be strangely cruel, at times.

More things about Pelle's magic (in an itemized list I guess?)
forgive me for any things that are repeated. I do be forgetful
Pelle's magic surfaced when he was a infant after he mysteriously recovered from an illness his biological family had all but given up on trying to save him from. There were certainly speculations about spiritual intervention as he grew into a toddler as he attracted both spirits and demons like fleas.
He was incredibly emotional as a small child because he had not learned emotional regulation yet. That's already a hurdle for a child who isn't feeling everything from everyone and everything all at once. He cried and screamed a lot much to Deshanna's detriment who could not figure out what had him so upet.
The magic that manifested in him as an infant he had absolutely no control over for years. He technically still doesn't as it is not something to be controlled so much as it is a passive experience.
ie. the last point. The spiritual side of his magic means he has a deep sense for other people's auras and energies. He cannot read people's thoughts but he is sensitive to other people's emotions, energy, and intentions. He can tell when someone is truly happy, sad, angry, even sometimes if they're lying but the last one isn't fail safe he can very well still be deceived. Having a sense for intention simply mean he can tell when someone means to harm him or just doesn't carry about with good intentions for others. It was a skill that was more valued when he was with Clan Lavellan as he could be taken along by hunters to less familiar places and be able to sense humans before they came face to face with them.
On sensing auras, emotions, and intentions: this applies to people, animals, supernatural beings, even living matter. When it comes to things like red lyrium which to him qualifies as living matter he has a very negative reaction physically to being around it. Something about genuinely fills him with a sense of dread that he can't shake. The first time he encountered it in his teens in a cave he had such a strong reaction to it that he dug his heels in the ground and refused to investigate it further, and demanded they leave immediately.
Also on auras: he has complicated feelings about demons as in he doesn't actually believe they are evil and would be very interested to know if their condition can be reversed. He sees them more as lost, hurt, confused. He would sooner want to help guide a demon back to it's former being than to destroy it. It is of course not a popular opinion to hold.
The only living things between people, animals, and the supernatural that will actively attack him unprovoked are indeed people. People's aura is unique in the sense that it can be manipulated and altered by experience and belief. The only animals he has encountered that share this trait are dogs as humans can train them to execute their intentions. They are the only animals he fears for this reason.
Pelle's magic as far as the nature (or keeper I guess?) magic is very influenced by his own philosophy of the world. When he first learned the skill he was 16 and it began with being able to manipulate trees and nature. It actually stopped there until he was Inquisitor because of his philosophy about life and the balance of nature. He did not believe destruction to have a place in the life cycle and so he could not harness anything in nature that destroys rather than symbolizes life. This changed as he was forced to confront this philosophy as Inquisitor with the help of a spirit of grief. He later learns to harness fire and lightning from this experience as Inquisitor.
The first time he harnessed lightning it was an accident and he was very shocked that the lightning in the sky came down and fell into his hands.
Pelle's magic is also somewhat dependent on his environment. For example, he can't summon a tree where this is none or could not summon lightning without rain at first. The emergence of magical elements like fire and lightning as Inquisitor took a good amount of practice and mentorship from other mages who were trained in the craft to guide him.
Prior to these things unlocked his primary sources of magic he could use and are not passive experiences were healing, tree magic, and some force (it's hard to explain, it was like starter fade magic because the force fields either to protect to project were both manifested with fade magic he didn't even know he was using as he does acknowledge the fade as a natural part of the world.)
His chosen specialization is Fade magic as it was a natural progression to the magic he already possesses.
Pelle does not use a staff for magic, he channels magic through his body. The exit points are his hands and his feet. Healing is the only one where there is a third exit point, it's his mouth (healing kisses eyyy.)
If he wasn't already an elf, as they're already known to walk quietly and maintain a lower sense of presence due to learned behavior to deflect attention from humans, the spititual side of is magic does also give him a lower sense of presence if he doesn't announce himself. Came in handy eavesdropping at the Winter Palace.
His eys are naturally brown. They appear amber because of his magic. They were brown till he was about 6 or 7 when he could harness his magic by choice.

- She's always intense when it comes to you.
- Often staring and attempting to speak before hesitating.
- She does speak she just prefers not to.
- Some days you'll only ever get nods or her shaking her head to your words.
- Samus is nice to be around, but her behavior can be suffocating.
- You barely get to leave the Gunship she has when she's on missions, worried you'll be put in danger.
- If someone else is in the Gunship with you and her, she keeps a close eye on them.
- One wrong move and they'll have an arm cannon in their face.
- Samus is protective for the most part because she's been alone most of her life.
- Ridley had killed her family, now she's drifting through space taking mission after mission to get by.
- Speaking of which, Samus would just about have a heart attack if Ridley found you.
- She'd rather die than have that beast touch a hair on your head.
- Same goes for anyone else.
- If anyone hurts you, Samus will find a way to swiftly end them.
- She doesn't care who they are, they'll be gone by the time she finds them.
- Samus is obsessive because of the same reason she's protective.
- The lack of human contact can really affect the bounty hunter.
- Coupled with the near death experiences she keeps having every mission, she grows to find comfort in you when she sees you.
- Nothing's taking you away from her.
- Not even you yourself.
- This makes Samus controlling.
- She refuses to let you leave, ever.
- Need fresh air? She needs to be with you on the planet.
- Want to talk to others? Why? There's no one else but her....
- What about asking her to back off from you and allow you to breathe?
- No can do!
- You bring the bounty hunter comfort.
- If she has to force you in her arms then she sees no reason on why she shouldn't.
- Samus is strong and manipulative.
- Once she knows she has feelings for you, you're in trouble.
- You get to see her out of her armor a lot more... she's also unusually soft compared to her usual stoic behavior.
- Those blue eyes stare you down as she lightly touches your face.
- She isn't sure how to approach these feelings... but she knows you're the cause of them.
- She doesn't care that she kidnapped you.
- She also doesn't care if she comes off forceful.
- Samus is tired of being alone in this galaxy...
- Now that she has you, willingly or not, she feels much happier.

i'm not a scientist so idk what Actual Science there is behind this concept to back up my feelings, but i highly doubt we'll have an actual time loop plot / Serious Time Travel in s5. i just don't see how it would make sense in the lore they've established thus far.
time stopped in the upside down and it didn't affect the rightside up, so what good would will manipulating time again do? the rightside up kept aging and everything has already happened. if whatever happened in the upside down timeline could affect the rightside up, we would've already seen it happen, no?
vecna is associated with clocks, yes, but is he as obsessed with time itself as some people think him to be? when you consider his statements as a whole, it seems that his problem lies mostly in society's imposition on natural structures; or, the rat race and the checklist we're all expected to tick off as we go throughout life; aka, forced conformity. his beef is with societal pressures and how they alienate those who don't wish to abide by society's arbitrary rules.
he wants out of the rat race. he wants to feel in control of his life. he wants to be freed of the constraints of time and the milestones society expects you to have achieved by whatever age. he wants to be allowed to be different, as he naturally is, and not punished, shamed, or alienated for it; or, as he later is, used / weaponized for it.
that's why he talks so much about purity and how humanity spoils things. that's why he targets those who are "other". that's why he wants to burn everything down and "reshape the world into something beautiful".
he literally says these things. overall, his entire shtick is that he opposes conformity and believes his otherness is what makes him superior. as such, he wants to tear society down and rebuild it. this world cast him out and so he wants to reshape it into one where he has a place that isn't beneath someone's boot.
he taunts his victims with a grandfather clock, because he first manifested his powers by stopping one of its hands. it's also an unsettling psychological warfare tactic: he's telling his victims that their time is running out and he's coming for them; they can't stop it, because time waits for no one.
he talks at length about destroying what already is to build something new. the only two people that he wanted, and potentially still wants as could be the case with the latter, by his side in these endeavors were eleven and will--two characters that are inherently different from their peers and whose plots in this show have almost always centered around their otherness. eleven was the one super-powered girl who has had to fight monsters and save them time and time again, often at the expense of learning what it means to be a person and what it means to be herself. will had traumatic experiences inflicted upon him by vecna, but even before that we are made aware that will was treated differently due to his sexuality. they are the only two that vecna has ever identified with and deemed worthy of living in his new world.
this show has always been about embracing your otherness. right now, it seems we're dealing with a villain who has taken this to the extreme and has let his experiences turn him into a monster; aka, "evil is a relay sport when the one who's burnt turns to pass the torch". reducing his character, that is to say his ambitions and overreaching part in this grand story, to someone that wants to stop time and can be stopped by just going back and erasing everything feels... inconsiderate to the story as a whole, as well as the efforts that have been made to explore trauma and how it affects us all.
the point isn't that we can just go back and undo what went wrong and be swell again. that doesn't align with the heart of stranger things. the point is, and always has been, that you are more than the awful things that have happened to you; that you can always learn and grow from your pain; that there is a way out of the cave and it'll be worth it once you get there.
we're not going to have a time loop, because that's cheap and reductive and solves nothing. it undoes all of the growth and learning that these characters have undergone. not only that, but we know that time being manipulated in the upside down doesn't change anything on the rightside up.
this isn't strictly or literally about time and stopping it. it's about how you can't keep people in cages and expect them to turn out fine and obey for the rest of their lives without losing their humanity in the process. it's about tearing things down and making something of the wreckage. it's about being broken and building yourself back up stronger not in spite of your broken bits but because of them. it's about how sitting in your pain and letting it consume you can either turn you into the very same monsters that caused your pain in the first place or have you feeling stuck while everyone else goes on with their lives.
vecna's life was stolen from him before it ever even began. he wants complete and total control over all life, because he's never felt in control of his own life. he wants to reshape the world, because he's never been allotted a space of his own in it. he wants to break the order of things, because his kind, those that are different, have always been forced to conform or be punished for daring to be themselves in a world that tells them they're inherently wrong. he's associated with time, because he had years of his life stolen from him when he was kept prisoner in the lab, and because he's seen the way that the rat race makes monsters of men. he hates humans, because they never once treated him like he was one, too.
we can't just pick one detail and base his character or the entire show around it. you're not seeing the bigger picture when you do that.
he's looking to create a new world from the rightside up's ruins and there's only one character on this show that we've seen do that.
vecna is all about darkness, destruction, and despair.
will is all about light, life, and hope.
stop hyper-focusing on time.

Stories from the past #3.
Time: Present day.
Location: A campsite in one of the forests deep in Smokey Gardens.
A group of Apricus university students are spending the week out in nature. The group of four are sitting around their campfire as night begins to fall.
"I swear to creation if you try and sing one of those dumbass songs again.."
"What, I brought my guitar and everything!"
"Just because you can play doesn't mean you can sing. I've heard raccoons carry a tune better than you."
"Fine fine, so what are we doin? Story time? Same rules as before? Everyone takes a turn?"
"Alright, I'll go first.."
"You ever hear the stories about what happened out here round a decade or so ago? Probably not Bureau does it's best to cover it up. Everyone saw those old buildings when we were hiking earlier right? From what I hear it's what's left of an old off the records Bureau facility."
"See the Bureau was still goin through all the files they had leftover from the war. They had some facilities built out here to keep away from the general public. Don't know what they bribed the Union with to stay out here but I imagine it was somethin good."
"All sorts of weird experiments went on in there. Maybe they were trying to create a version of chimeras they could control, maybe they were manipulating DNA or somethin..who knows. Unethical stuff."
"One day one of those crackpot scientists created something so horrific they were ordered to eliminate it on the spot. Only problem was..that creature escaped it's cage, went on a rampage, slaughtered everyone in the facility, wrecked the labs, and ran off into the woods."
"Some folks say it was some poor low rank soldier they experiments on, spliced in this and that, turned them into a part human, part animal monstrosity."
"Like a werewolf?"
"Kind of, but think of one of those that never changes back and forth."
"Oh like the Dogman!"
"Where do you think those stories came from? The Bureau had to cover everything up so they let people run with all those different theories, figuring everyone would just dismiss it as bullshit. In truth there's somethin runnin around out there and it don't wanna be found. But you better hope it doesn't wanna find you either."
"Hear a story about a group camping out here that heard somethin in the middle of the night. All they saw was some shadow looming over their tent. Authorities found the campsite torn apart and pieces of the campers..everywhere.."
"Did you hear that?"
"Don't tell me you're.."
"Shh...what the fuck is that noise?"
"I uh..maybe we should call it a night..everyone get back in the RV.."
Time: Eleven years ago.
Location: PWSB medical facility.
"What the fuck even happened to her.."
Alarms were blaring as several doctors wheeled..what was left of a newer recruit into an operating room.
"Breach at the wall, wave of Chimeras took them by surprise. The recruits fought em off best they could before the reinforcements got there. Some of em weren't so lucky.."
"Creation...there's hardly anything left.."
"Just try! It's our job to try and save them!"
Time went by with no success. The patient was on life support but would likely never recover.
In the middle of the night, the door to the room opened, two individuals stepping in.
"What you're inquiring about isn't exactly the most ethical of things Cybele."
"Don't talk to me about ethics Windsor. We both know the Bureau won't listen to reason about projects that could benefit everyone."
"Are you entirely sure your ideas will work.."
"The person on that table is going to die if we do nothing..."
The two scientists wheeled the patient out and into another wing of the facility.
"I've gotten everything you needed Cybele. From this point on you're on your own."
Systems are functional. Memory loading...warning..fatal error has occurred..
"Who..what..am I?"
Answer to query: Project Viceroy
"Viceroy.."
Warning..subject unstable..

Based on the simple fact that I wished they'd explore more of the Alpha Clears being “mass produced” and went into more detail of what that truly means and based on the fact that they were able to just.... find a fully functioning Alpha android to upload Clear’s consciousness into in Clear’s drama cd (????), I'm going to assume that by “mass production” Toue meant that he modeled the Alphas after Clear but not just 20 year old masculine looking androids, he also created prototypes with feminine features, children prototypes, ect, as a means to manipulate and control as many age groups of people as humanly possible.
Remember, Toue was a man whom, once he created power as great as Aoba and Sei’s, created variation after variation of it. Once he finds an ideal or favorable tool for manipulation and mind control, he recreates it tenfold. And seeing as how he keeps the Alphas around and sees them as important beings for his research, it's not so much of a stretch that he'd keep the “mass production” of models created after Clear around as well.
Also, keep in mind, Toue was always aiming for children experiment subjects for his work, hence his creation of Aoba and Sei and his interest in gathering children who were skilled at rhyme. Creating android children prototypes with mind controlling voices is far from a stretch. It's just a variation of Aoba and Sei.
Toue called the Alphas Clear’s little brothers, so by that logic, the female-presenting androids are his little sisters and the children prototypes would be considered his offspring, seeing as how they're the youngest models created after Clear.
With all this being said, I personally believe the mass production of android prototypes created after Clear are still out there somewhere, because how were they able to obtain a spare Alpha android for Clear in his drama cd?? Where did they get it from??
Now, before you say “oh, but when Sei shut down all of Oval Tower’s power, that included all of the androids because they were directly tied to Oval Tower’s power source!!” True, true, but the same should apply to Sei’s physical body as well, no? His body should have been crushed by the collapsing of Oval Tower, as it was already frail and fragile and rotting away to begin with due to years of experimentation.
But, if you saw Ren’s good end, the nurse explains that Aoba’s brother “came from overseas” so it's fair to assume Oval Tower isn't Toue’s sole research facility. Remember, he was already working on controlling multiple sections of Midorijima, aiming to build it into a country as opposed to a mere island, so it's not so far fetched for him to have multiple research facilities spread out across Midorijima. That quite literally has to be canon, actually, because how else did Sei’s body get to Midorijima from “overseas” ??
So, basically, Toue’s mass production of android prototypes created after Clear are indefinitely still out there somewhere, otherwise how were they able to get the spare Alpha as a means to save Clear in his drama CD if all of them were supposedly destroyed in Oval Tower??
Clear’s remaining little brothers, little sisters, and his children are still out there somewhere and idk about you but when Aoba, Tae, and the rest of humanity die out, I'd want Clear to have at least some family left. I know we don't talk about him being all alone when humanity dies out one by one, so instead, take this as canon to the dmmd universe.
Clear has a family of android prototypes, brothers, sisters, children, somewhere in Midorijima and he will find them and they'll all be happy and Clear will not be left all alone in the world.
Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

so i do love your amanda interpretation, and i agree with a lot of it, but i do have one slightly different view of it - i feel like amanda doesn't necessarily view all people as being bad and therefore not being capable of change; i always viewed the way she sabotaged traps as being that she felt like the traps (and therefore jigsaw) weren't capable of helping people; like, people who went through traps weren't "changed" for the better. no, they were just as traumatized as she now was, and she was saving them from the same fate she was actively experiencing by letting them die in sabotaged traps. she felt like she was doing them a kindness by making sure they died, rather than let them "survive" the trap and feel the way she did.
also, personally, just to engage in further discussion of her character, i do believe that she does enjoy some amount of the power she has over others in the games, although we really only see this in one instance that i recall, being lynn. she definitely does seem to enjoy the power she has over lynn in that moment, in being in control of her. which i don't mean as a critique of the character: i think it makes a lot of sense that she would be in a vulnerable position and often feel lesser or manipulated in her life (like when she deals with john or hoffman) and then she gets in a position of "power" when shes with lynn, and is "in control" of whether lynn lives or dies. i think it's very realistic for her to feel intimidated or meek, etc. with others whom she feels have power over her, and then feeling cocky and overconfident with those whom she feels she has some amount of power over (like i said, lynn, to whom she holds the shotgun collar key to)
oh interesting! i do think i agree, and i think her unwinnable games are a combination of both things. amanda came out of her trap traumatised and still feeling like she was unworthy and hadn't grown at all (which. baby you're deeply mentally ill of course being tortured isn't going to make you better even if it does stop your drug abuse) so i think to her it was this mindset of "this doesn't help anyone and nobody changes and if you're tested in the first place then death is better than survival." she thought she was saving people from having to live with the trauma (and perhaps trying to prevent anyone else from ending up in john's clutches) but also with the disappointing reality: that surviving and being traumatised didn't make them better. ultimately, it boils down to this belief that it's better to die in a game than struggle with the reality of the trauma and yourself in the aftermath. her implied experiences with abuse (canon in the original iii script) have also warped her view of humanity.
i think in her traumatised mind, she truly does believe that people are inherently bad, but she still so desperately wants to believe that they're good. and i think it'd be very possible for her to accept that no, humans aren't inherently evil and not everyone is out to screw you over, had she been able to grow and heal in a better environment. unfortunately, she found herself with john, and reached this point of thinking death is kinder for anyone than a traumatised existence, haunted by your own pain and mistakes and the actions of others.
i also agree with your point about lynn! i think in her heart of hearts, amanda doesn't actually want lynn to die, and she does only shoot her because of hoffman's letter. but given that amanda is denied power so frequently, it's understandable that she runs with it the moment she gets it, even if it's something she'll regret later. it'd be interesting to see how the final confrontation between them would have happened if amanda wasn't operating under hoffman's orders and could actually do as she pleased with lynn - lynn, who repeatedly demonstrated that she wasn't inherently bad, who had something to live for in amanda's eyes (corbett) and passed her test with flying colours. but lynn was earning john's love (or at least appeared to be doing so) and holding her life in her hands was the ultimate form of power, so who's to say what would have won out? the part of amanda capable of compassion and love? or the part of her driven by rage and hurt and power and jealousy?
i also think there's something to be said about amanda's desire to wield power over lynn specifically, given lynn's social status and career. i think it's understandable that amanda would have a deep distrust and dislike of medical professionals and authority figures as a whole, given that nobody was able to help her (and they're not particularly kind to addicts as a whole). so being in this basic role reversal situation would have been intriguing for her.
anyway! i hope this makes sense. amanda is so interesting and heartbreaking because she's made up of so many contradictions. i think my bottom line with amanda is that she's not a cruel person, but she is very capable of cruelty, both to herself and to others. she is a pawn (in the grander saw chess metaphor, she's the bishop, but i also think it'd be dishonest to act as if the apprentices aren't all just john's pawns at the bottom line) so desperately trying to become a queen, fighting her way to gain power and safety, but never being able to escape her role as a sacrificial lamb.

Questions for Problematic/Villain Muses II Accepting!
Tumblr media
What's something you constantly have to re-explain about your muse?
I think usually it's mainly that he's problematic at all, or that he's from a indie horror/negotiation game. There are a few people that don't know what YTtD is, or haven't played all the way. He's so multifaceted that depending on the setting and interaction, his behavior drastically changes. The thing is, Sou is incredibly relatable, so anyone could see him from a few interactions and conceptualize him incorrectly without context. Heck, even other YTtD players tend to take him at face value at some points when they probably shouldn't if they want to open themselves up to other possibilities. I could even be guilty of this myself!
What's an inherently problematic view your character holds?
Shin's entire worldview has been carefully groomed by the real Sou's constant experimentation. Sou loves humans to the point of experimenting on them and breaking them, in every sense of the word. While mostly he's left Shin physically intact aside from surgically meddling with his memories, Shin firmly believes that the strong, or anyone powerful only want to use and tear down the weak... and that anyone showing him kindness only does so on a whim, or to use him. He sees himself as weak in every sense, and that inadequacy leads him to see himself as the underdog even when he might actually have more of an advantage than he initially thinks. In a way, his poisoned worldview is actually naive when examined from every angle.
What's a line your muse won't cross under any circumstance?
This line is extremely blurry, and Shin doesn't like to think about it or reflect on himself for it that much... there's cognitive dissonance, but Shin typically will NOT and despises sacrificing children. Small teens, especially if they are vulnerable and weak... he can't stand it. However... before the first main game, when he had control of the sacrifice card, he kept planting it in hopes that Sara or anyone would pick it up. Sara especially, despite the fact she's still a teen, all because he suspected her. He cleverly brushes past this when Joe picks up the sacrifice and his execution passes, but Kanna calls him out for it and forces him to reflect on what he did. Despite his reasons and his suspicions, his actions still resulted in a seventeen year old boy's painful death.
When it comes to your muses' loved ones, are they the exception to their behavior or are they also treated poorly?
Unfortunately the answer to this isn't cleanly-cut. Yes, and no. Shin doesn't have a lot of autonomy in the Death Game, and while that is a reason it is not an excuse for his prickly manipulation of Kanna. It's true that he loves and cares for her dearly and she's an intelligent girl that can see right through him, but her best interests weren't his initial concern and he did what he did to save his own skin. He didn't have much of a choice since he couldn't gain the trust of the group that Sara had, but this is also his own problem since he's such a liar, and no doubt the others could pick up on that. Even if he had good information, he couldn't be a reliable source. However, there are times his affection shines through despite his flaws, and that's changed Kanna for the better and given her a sense of purpose after losing her sister (and by extension, part of her soul/will to live). This has even shined through to Sara, and she rightfully hates him enough to want him dead. Even Joe's final words to everyone was that he thought even Sou was a good person deep down.

warning: SUPER LONG post, I just love Pokémon okay. Oh, and spoilers for numerous Pokémon media.
One thing I've always liked, as a longtime fan, is that Pokémon is a series that has always hammered down the need to have empathy and kindness, whether explicitly or implicitly.
It started all the way from Gen 1, where finding Mewtwo and possibly giving it a life beyond that of a destructive weapon feels rewarding, where you lay the spirit of the mother Marowak to rest, or how bonding with Pikachu in Yellow made the game more enjoyable.
We have had rival characters who grew up feeling unsafe or unloved because they were failed by the very parents who were supposed to be there for them. But the player little by little, extends the hand of friendship and in some cases, even becomes the family that they always wanted. This is probably most noticeable in the recent games, seeing as we have Gladion, Beede (parental figures count too), and Arven but it was even there as early as Gen 2's Silver.
We have the anime series where Ash Ketchum realised that for him, the bonds he made and the experiences he has shared with the pokémon and people around him are what felt truly rewarding. Not only that, but his compassion and kindness has been shown to shine through a lot. Say what you will about the kid, but these aspects of his character have left impact in those around him, so much so that it's arguably saved his life multiple times.
We even have the game mechanics to further this message, for crying out loud! There's the Return move that is more powerful the more your pokémon loves you! There're pokémon who evolve and thus, become stronger, once you've formed a deep friendship with them! Heck, post Gen 6, your buddies can shake off being paralyzed in battle out of love for you (and that's not even going into the Mega Evolution gimmick)!
On a more heartbreaking note, even some of the antagonists aren't exempt from this, since we get some hints that there is still a bit of humanity in them if we piece together bits of their backstory coupled with the pokémon they have. Take Cyrus, who's implied to have had a lonely childhood and despite his emotionless and nihilistic demeanor, has a grandfather who wishes he took him in and a friendship-evolved pokémon in Crobat, which have to count for something. Take Lusamine, who for all her destructive control-freak and obsessive tendencies, was driven to the extreme because of grief and love for her husband (also a small thing, but she possibly named her daughter after her pokémon, a Lilligant, which can imply that she does care for her pokémon to some extent). But ultimately, it's their inability to hold onto what kindness and empathy they have that pushes them into the antagonist role.
This isn't even getting into numerous sidequests where you help people who are grateful for it and reward you with useful items, or learning N's backstory and trying your damnedest to help him, or reuniting AZ with his Floette and thus helping them find peace together, or the whole Team Star storyline.
I'll admit that there are flaws to this analysis, given the fact that this is a game where we capture animals and make them fight, or that it's still likely that characters with friendship evolution pokémon may be manipulating them. But the idea is still there and I think it's something that Pokémon fans can kind worth keeping in mind and be comforted by.
As cliché as the whole "Maybe the treasure is the friends we made along the way" is, there's a reason such a message exists, and I personally think it's important to still learn to care about other people.

my incoherent naruto rant 😌
i actually liked what kishimoto had going with obito and madara. to an extent
like there was a pattern/theme about dehumanization and the persistence of humanity/emotions throughout naruto. the shinobi system is based on dehumanizing its own soldiers and using them as mindless tools. but the narrative is so adamant in people's humanity and agency. it's one of the first messages of the story in the land of waves--that just because the system treats shinobi as tools does not mean they actually lost their humanity.
ignoring all the other examples bc i can't rant too much, otherwise this post will just get too long.
OBITO (to give space between the sections because oh my god it's so long ☹️)
With obito. it is about his denial of his own humanity and individual identity leads him vulnerable to manipulation from madara and black zetsu, which i think shows well in how he easily puts on different personas (ie madara and tobi) (and feels no shame in it. if i had to act like madara's raging homosexual ass i would just die on the spot). his desire to completely escape himself and his own ideals and intentions, to claim he has no personal will of his own, rendered him the perfect tool to use. but even so! kishimoto shows that obito was never able to escape his own humanity. it shows in how he ultimately wanted mugen tsukuyomi to revive rin and return to his happy past, how he doesn't trust madara/didn't want to revive him; and how he keeps trying to push naruto into giving up; and how it was his memories and bonds within his team 7 that let him overcome and control the juubi chakra. and in the end, it is his own subconscious doubts about the mugen tsukuyomi and his actions that lead to his uh. redemption. his inherent humanity was what 'saved' him and what motivated him to accept his agency to well... not do better but die a better man, i guess.
MADARA
for madara. it is somewhat similar. in that in his desperation to leave behind his flawed human side and ascend to like. god position by gaining absolute control over his world etc. it left him vulnerable to black zetsu's manipulation.
but. BUT madara unlike obito has a greater grasp of his contradictions; even as he wants to end war and conflict, he finds pleasure in battle/fighting he isn't denying that contradictory side of himself. he even admits that this hypocritical desire for both peace and conflict is inherent in humanity: he tells obito "whereever light strikes, there are shadows" and tobirama "to want only peace and discard only conflict would cause people to stop being people"
As @obihoe says, madara seems to feel that the world he lives in leaves no other choice but to engage in conflict, so he fully gives up his agency and enjoys battle. But at the same time! he doesn't want to give up his agency, he wants complete control over what happens in his world. fuck it, his plan to rid the world of chakra requires him to obtain even more chakra. everything about him is a paradox. even as he fully revels in showcasing his power and his attraction to battle, he tries to rise above it and that is why he fails. Because he is human, and he can be nothing but a human.
But he's still distinct from the previous naruto villains because he acknowledges his contradictions. it leaves no space for naruto to talk-no-jutsu him as he did with nagato and obito.
(it's absolutely insane because this acknowledgement of contradiction is the exact same mentality that naruto ultimately ends up with: even naruto himself experiences this contradiction [ie his desire for a rivalry with sasuke contradicted but also did not cancel out his desire for friendship with sasuke]; conflict is a natural state of humanity, but that does not mean the desire for and efforts towards peace is meaningless; in fact, it makes it more meaningful; the embracing of contradiction of the human heart and the persistence in not denying it. Like it's insane. so fucking insane)
(the difference between madara and naruto is that naruto accepts his contradictions and finds compromise whereas madara tried to overcome and dominate his human instinct with overwhelming power/chakra)
on one hand, that escalation within the villain hierarchy and same level of understanding of human hypocrisy makes madara a narratively appropriate final boss to naruto's character arc. naruto has always reached out to his enemies by finding the 'flaws' in their ideology and learning through them and amending the contradictions in his own beliefs; that is how he matures as a character and eventually a leader throughout his journey. madara's simultaneous desire to discard his humanity (control freak) as well as his wholehearted embrace of his humanity (battle freak and a peace lover) makes him well. the perfect embodiment of the contradictory and conflict-inclined state of humanity. you know? which makes kaguya's placement in the narrative kind of ???
on the other hand. that tragic devastation when madara realizes that in his desperation to fix everything with his power and spare himself the pain and hardship of camaraderie. he left himself open to be used as a tool for another person who never cared about him; in an epic parallel to how the shinobi system/village uses and discards its own people. that's like 👌👌👌 you could even argue that kaguya fits thematically as the last villain as a symbol of absolute solitary power or something
I just don't like how the whole story was about humanity and it's inclination towards conflict, and then the Big Bad turns out to be a fucking alien. kaguya can't even succumb to human contradiction because she's not even human 😭 and i felt like she just cut madara's character arc short? at least with obito, we had naruto confronting him, but with madara, he was betrayed before naruto (and sasuke and the rest of team 7) could confront him and prove him wrong in some way. instead we get a rabbit goddess alien fight and one brief conversation between madara and hashirama that just reveals??? madara had a change of heart???? i know it makes sense in some way, but it just. feels unfulfilling. madara was like. representing hypocritical nature of human desire; how do you go bigger than that? why would you go bigger than that?
KAGUYA
I think--i can't fucking believe i'm going to say this--kaguya does fit in thematically as the end boss, but only in the context of boruto. Like, we find out that kaguya is a member of an alien race that cultivates planets for chakra to become stronger, leaving them empty lifeless husks afterwards. Like that's peak systemic exploitation and disregard of life. And it kind of works with how madara has been used as a tool for not even towards his own goal but for a completely separate cause, like (again) how the shinobi system ignores personal motives and cares only about how people can contribute to benefiting the village or sustain this system.
But if that was the case, kaguya should've been revealed in boruto? she should've been a boruto villain???
I guess i could argue it makes sense? in a way? because even in just the context of naruto, kaguya is an outsider hoping to exploit people to make herself powerful (who went insane from her lust of power, but also she may have loved her children, does that matter? we don't know, she's given like one page of crying to flesh her out and that's it)--but i feel like it just does not have the same impact as humanity inflicting violence upon itself and breaking the cycle on its own terms etc. now it's just aliens did it all. what the fuck am i supposed to do about that :(

Recap on Luna, part 2
One of my first recaps was about everything we knew about Luna back then; now has emerged some additional information that makes me want to update that.
First of all:
Tumblr media
(On the air of Grazie Roma): Enby Luna! They finally gave us an answer! Enby Luna! Enby Luna! Which gave some representation - at this point, any is good to go!
Tumblr media
Ahem. Going on. What actually surprised me, is how dorky she seemed. At Moreau's laboratory, she seemed pretty sheepish and uncertain around the kids, like it was the first time she found herself in front of someone so young.
But whetever they are socially isolate in general or is just about kids, is something I'm not certain on. They mentioned that other people had given them names, which they didn't really like but still indicates interaction. They claimed the house they brought Mainagioia (our Vanitas, thus called to avoid confusion) and Mikhail in belonged to some friends of theirs, alchemists who didn't have much trouble working with vampires. They didn't know how to cook, implying that they aren't used to prepare food for themself.
Tumblr media
But his statements that the house belongs to friends is put a bit into question when Mainagioia notices that the place is filthy, like it has not been lived in for quite some time, despite its opulence. Do Luna's friends live elsewhere and use it as a secondary residence? Or was that a lie?
Tumblr media
Moreover, there is their comment when Mainagioia gives them the name of Luna: they like it because it will make them feel close to anyone who watches the moon. Sounds like a really lonely person, who longes for contact with other people.
So, their relation to other people, be it vampires or human, is a bit ambiguous. We know a new, interesting detail: they are 'unlike anything else in this world'.
Which at least to me sounds rather different from just a vampire who happened to have been born under the blue moon. It makes them sound like they are an entirely different species; and in fact, they don't like the name of 'vampire of the blue moon'.
On one hand, Luna has a lot of traits of a vampire, or at the very least, more in common with them than with human beings. They drink blood, they leave possession marks, they can manipulate world formula.
On the other hand, they have a lot of uncommon traits. Their blood is blue. They have an extremely in-depth knowledge on the World of Formulas, far superior to any vampire we have seen so far, and is able to control Malnomen, someone nobody who isn't affiliated to them can do. Their possession mark is appearently able to 'rewrite' people, while it doesn't seem like there are such adverse effects for the marks of other vampires.
Personally, I think the origin story we got right at the start of the manga was wrong. Here's my theory: Luna wasn't born to regular vampires on a night of blue moon, Luna was one of the first two beings created by the Babel accident, alongside Faustina, the first vampire of the Red Moon.
Now, the details of the Babel incident are shrouded in mystery: we don't know exactly what happened and why some people were affected by vampire trasformation and others weren't. We know that the Vampire Queen, as the first, has enormous power and every other vampire obeys her, even being compelled to do so while desiring otherwise. We also know that she looks very similar to Luna, something that was remarked in-text.
Is it possible that they were actually related? Siblings, maybe, who were involved with Paracelsus experiments somehow, and got control over two different domains of world formula - something a bit similar to the 'Alice' situation in Pandora Hearts?
Now, at the moment I don't really have enough elements to give credit to this theory. To begin with, this doesn't explain why Faustina's kind appeared spontaneously all over the world, while Luna remained something unique in its own kind. Still, this might have something to do with how adamant Luna is about nobody knowing something she revealed to Mainagioia.
Tumblr media
Then, there is the whole matter of the Marks of Possession to the kids: giving them was a way to save their life, and she required an informed consent of sorts. Misha gave it wholeheartedly, no issue here; but Mainagioia refused, yet he still has it.
Why? Did something happen that made him change his mind, or Luna just ignored their refusal? Both siblings appear to have issues with the concept of 'consent', so for Mainagioia, it is possible that this accident continued the pattern of ignoring his desires that Moreau started. On the other hand, Luna himself says that he doesn't want to use that particular method to make them his kin, probably because the 'rewriting' thing substitues a problem with another, so he probably would have respected Mainagioia's decision.
Still, there is the question of how they knew the process would be damaging. Was it because they already tried it on someone else, maybe in an attempt to create someone similar to them? Or was it because it was already giving problems to them specifically?
Again, it all comes down to 'that day', when Mainagioia killed him. The way the situation is framed in the human boy's mind, it seems like there was some degree of accord between the two people involved, enough that Luna managed to recommend him not to let anyone take his memories before dying (they probably were thinking specifically of Archivistes? Why, had there been any previous encounter?).
So, this is all I could come up with insofar. Look forward to other information that we will hopefully get this arc.
Thanks to anyone who bothered to read my ramblings!
