Twins are Bad Luck in Vamp Society, eh?
I think this has to do with something to do with Faustina and Luna being twins and something happening thousands of years prior to the canon storyline in VnC.
I just know it.

Everyone says Ruthven is gonna use his one command to get Noe to kill Vanitas straight up, but I’m not so sure.
Personally? I think Ruthven will command Noe to reveal his true name.
There’s so much emphasis from the Shapeless one on not telling ANYONE your true name, and Naenia seems very interested in it. Knowing Noe’s true name is so much more dangerous, because Ruthven could hand it over to Naenia any time she wanted.
And that puts Vanitas in an awful position. It’s already been proven that even when he’s lost his own free will, Vanitas can’t bring himself to kill Noe, and Noe can’t bring himself to kill Vanitas.
Wouldn’t that parallel be fucking tragic? Noe couldn’t kill the one person who begged for it the most, Vanitas killed the one person who gave him a chance because they were a curse bearer. But now Noe is the one out of his mind with killing intent and Vanitas is willing to die if it means curing him.
You know the story is good when you can see a dozen equally tragic, equally meaningful endings.

So this only happened in the anime version of this scene, but when Ruthven curses Noé, these magenta butterflies appear around them.
Tumblr media
Like I said, that pet didn’t happen in the manga, BUT we have seen those magenta butterflies before.
Specifically in this picture of Noé surrounded by, almost falling through, these butterflies.
Tumblr media
Though there is another butterfly in this picture as well. Specifically, a blue glowing butterfly hovering right in front of Noé’s face.
Now I wonder what that could possibly signify?
(Or more like who it represents.)
If the anime was taking cues from this image, then this probably hints at how the curse on Noé will be broken. We’ve seen multiple times that Vanitas is a light that saves Noé from the darkness, and this will probably be the same when it comes time to break the curse and save him from Ruthven’s control, like a reverse of the amusement park.
(And when you consider the traditional way to break curses and the fact that the butterfly is right over Noé’s lips? Well, a girl can hope.)

My personal thoughts on VNC Veronica & her Japanese clothes
Tumblr media
“It’s weird that Veronica wears Japanese clothes in the 19th century in Paris, France!!“
Well,
0) VNC is basically FICTION, a fictional story with multiple FANTASY settings...not some real life historic documentary or such... It’s not inherently a sin for MJ-sensei (Japanese) to put some Japanese stuff in her own fiction work written in Japanese and published in Japan first...plz
1) Most characters are NOT wearing Japanese clothes. It’s just one or two (even supporting) characters: current Veronica and past Machina in Chloe’s memory. It’s also not like most French streets are oddly filled with Japanese culture...
2) It emphasizes Veronica’s otherness, her unique characteristic. She’s the only one wearing Japanese clothes among so many ordinary people. It leaves a strong first impression. She’s not only powerful but also freely doing whatever she wants (as much as possible), and no one is particularly blaming her for the appearance or actions. Yeah, she’s a “weirdo”, and it shows she’s allowed to be “weird” and still so confident and well.
3) Vampires can cross borderlines and enter other areas. It’s highly implied Shapeless One brought Tarte Tatin, even making it popular enough. Airships exist from the beginning; that’s how Noe came to Paris. Then maybe it’s okay to assume global trade and overseas travel do happen somehow off-screen, too, even if rarely or not so often. There’s even an international event coming as well in canon...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4) (these were not animated) Veronica is very “intimate” with Marquis Machina. In Chloe’s backstory, it turns out Machina was already so interested in Japanese stuff, wearing some Japanese clothes. It’s very likely that Veronica got her Japanese clothes from Machina, possibly even as some present.
Thanks for reading!!

I know it looks funny. And I don't want to be snobby. But I think it will be interesting for someone in the fandom to know what "69" means in numerology
The number 69 has a special energy. 6 in numerology symbolizes the material world, the desire to possess something material, which can often turn into greed, greed and commercialism. 9 reflects the spiritual world, fortitude, personality development. In numerology, the number 69 carries the unity of two opposites: material and spiritual principles
Vanitas is very controversial. He wants to save all the vampires and find out who killed the real Vanitas (this is what I consider his spiritual world). But at the same time, he does not care about his material world at all (you have seen how he put himself in danger more than once. Like this goblin does not care at all about surviving...)
I think his number is 69, which is a very subtle joke from Jun. Vanitas wears a number that should mean a symbol of harmony between soul and body, but he does nothing at all to maintain this harmony. If he cannot achieve harmony between his desires and his body, then he will not be able to successfully complete his journey. And I think it is precisely because of the lack of harmony in him that he will die or "die" at the end of the story

Astolfo and Persephone's myth
This a speculation after I read the article from digital-dhampirs.
One most interesting thing about Astolfo is his cover which presents a pomegranate.
I found strange nobody talked about this because pomegranate has very strong symbolism, and maybe can be a hint of his story.
First it is possible symbol of his family, because the word Granatum is part of scientific name of pomegranate; Punica granatum.
But the connecting between the family and the fruit doesn’t stop here, because in fact the word “garnet” comes from Latin word granatum from seed or grain, most likely are reference to the seeds of pomegranate fruit.
Pomegranate also has strong Christian symbol because represents martyrs’ blood, which it appropriates for hunter family.
If we remove Astolfo from the cover we have a picture in still life, a work of art using also like metaphor, because pomegranate is also a Christina symbol that represents a priest, hard outside soft inside, but because the corruption around and inside the fruit, the author is talking about corrupt of the Church but I don’t think only about the Beast act but the tragedy of family Granatum.
Tumblr media
If we look inside the fruit we can see tubes, I thought can be Chloe library but it is too dark and broken and there are not books, but another place with tubes it is Moreu lab.
Moreu got help from Church now and then, because it is impossible there is no one in Church didn’t know about a secret lab near to their headquarters.
But why Moreu’s lab if Astolfo had never met him and he is not with Ronald about the search.
His sister can be n°70, a child who is been rewriting by 13 marks and from a powerful line of hunters, a subject who Doctor would love to have.
Plush it is possible Granatum family bloodline isn’t completely human, anime color in VNC it only used on vampires/dhams, but from anime we know both siblings has got pink hair/eyes, but there is not other humans with anime colors.
If his sister is n°70 , her and Astolfo has got a lot parallels with Demeter hymn, or more knowing as Persephone myth.
This myth is already showed up in series, when Veronica talks with Domi, she sat down on statue of Ratto of Prosepina, that Latin name of Persephone.
I think this myth is connect with Granatum siblings; Astolfo fills as Demeter and his sister as Kore/Persephone.
The myth is often rewriting as love story between Hades and Persephone but it is far away from original myth.
Demeter’s hymn is part of Eleusinian Mysteries. Her hymn is sole protagonist who is mother in grief for losing of her daughter, and only when she played dirty she can have her daughter back.
After the kidnapping of her daughter she ignored her duties for looking for her with help of Hecate.
Hecate is one who proposed to ask help for Helios, because he can see everything.
Helios has pity of her and only one who shared the truth(other Gods ignored her because they were afraid of Zeus).
After Demeter found out Zeus sold out Kore to Hades, she took all humans hostage by famine, and Zeus had to give in.
Hades tricked Persephone to eat pomegranate seeds, so she cannot completely come back to her mother, because she is part of underground.
So season are born because the staying of Persephone.
Like we can see Demeter is sweet and devote person who can be so powerful turning the world outside down if her beloveds is in dangerous. She can be pretty revengeful and mean, she punishes humans, who are innocent, for bring Zeus to his kneels.
Astolfo is a devote, sweet and self denial person, but also a revengeful force.
During the myth we don’t know how Persephone lives in underground, if she is love with Hades ecc.
The beauty of Anciest Greek mythology is a big mess fandom of fanfictions so you can find a lot version of same myth, and pick your favorite.
But what is sure, Kore that means maiden, from innocent girl turned is a fearful and severe goddess who scared also big heroes like Odysseus.
It is interesting if his sister alive, both they share a lot with myth.
Also Ronald and Oliver can fill in some roles in myth. Ronald like Helios, the god of light, the only one who pitied Demeter and told the truth, Oliver as Hecate, a reasonable figure for Demeter/Astolfo.
Like we see in chap 59,they are only one they give a darm about Astolfo, the other hunters are disinterested or mean to him, like Demeter and other gods.
Ronald was only light for the boy, Oliver used to be near to him, so the relationship is pretty strong like for Demeter with Helios and Hecate.
Like I said before Ratto di Prosepina is other connecting with the myth and possible with Granatum siblings.
Tumblr media
“Ratto of Prosepina” can be connect with his sister because this statue represents a sexual assault.
Ratto in old Italian mean marriage by kidnapping or rape, between VNC characters despite there are a lot of violation, Misha, Astolfo and sister are victims of sexual abuse. Astolfo acts a lot like SA victim. Maybe he didn’t suffer by the act but he saw rape on his mother, seeing sexual acts against own will still rape.
Astolfo also said to Noè “My sis was only six when they…!”
The sentence has never ended by implication are grave, because in previous meeting he already told about the torture, so he didn’t need to repeat himself, and we know there were already rapists in group, so we can hope for best but be prepare for worst.
So this version Hades is a terrible monster who violates completely body of people and our doctor Moreu fills the role
My guess his sister is in fact n°70 and possible the first artificial vampire in series.
VNC is a very peculiar vampire media, because we don’t have turning vampire plot, the most similar thing to that is the rewriting.
Rewriting sounds a terrible and mysterious transformation which we and VNC’s world didn’t know enough
So artificial turning in a vampire maybe is not so far away, like for Kore Olympic godess turned in Crhonotic one by tricky and egoism of other.
An another point making believe Astolfo’s sister is alive because she should be chekhov's gun
and the fact Astolfo mirrored Vanitas.
A character is not mentioned if they aren’t necessary for plot. Yes, there are characters like ghost but these ones are alive and often are used like joke.
Astolfo’ sister is not really necessary character for writing his background dark, if we remove her now and making a lone boy who befriend the wrong person still work, but Astolfo is the mirror of Vanitas and what’s happened to Vanitas recently? He found out his brother alive.
So his sister would work like character if she show up in future and if she is counterpart of Misha.
It’d ’ be pretty cool; while Misha uses childshness as coping/manipulation mechanism and cannot move on from his past with Luna and Vanitas, in contrast she’d be more mature of her age and she don’t try to reunite with his brother because she know things wouldn’t be the same and in fact are enemies.
Like Kore from an innocent girl became to fearful goddess.
Turning a really strong vampire, not for her choices(in myth is tricked by pomegranate seeds) but she enjoined the power but still deeply miss Astolfo.
She would be the one who take care of dr Moreu;Vanitas and Misha are clearly avoiding him, but killing him is not only for revenge but also for stopping him.
If Astolfo ‘s sister is Kore, there is an other possible connection with myth; they are both sold off by someone support to protect them.
Astolfo hates himself because he thinks he’s responsible of tragedy, but it ‘s not a tragedy but a full shreme, with a mandate church/charlatan.
The vampires attacked when the mansion was more vulnerable, most hunters leave for looking a group of vampires, they weren’t guards, the presence of 5 powerful vampires and the fact the group didn’t leave.
What criminal stay in crime scene? They stayed for days, giving all time for Marco asking for help, why they stay a place frequented by vampire hunters.
In fact they give enough time to Church to organize itself and kill all them.
And if wasn’t Church, senate could send bourreau. We know bourreau are sniper for rogue vampire, and they act very quickly to act; one day for Mina, and Amelia was afraid to have them on her way.
Now a situation of a rogue group of vampires who assault humans is a big problem to Senate, because peace threat, we see they send Jeanne to Chloè for that.
And not mention killing a family of paladin is the same to send a letter” We want war kisses”.
Like when Charlaton attacked Luca using very similar clothes from hunters, if Luca didn't survive, they would be political consequence between Church and Senate, why didn’t this happened with Granatum tragedy?
Why didn’t these vampires leave? Why there wasn’t a diplomatic accident after that.
That group must have protection until its protect let them die.
“Oh we are sorry, but responsible are dead.”
This group looked like they were used a sacrifical lamb.
Onother points makes me believe Church can be responsible of Tragedy, it is missing of Lousiette.
In anime we see the lord using a rapier not Lousiette, but Charles told Astoldo to take it, that it is means Lousiette is the weapon of Garnet throne.
I think the paladin weapon are unique and best pieces cannot be reproduce so only when somebody become a paladin get one.
Ronald didn’t have Durandal when he met Astolfo, so why Lord Granatum who presumably was a paladin didn't have Lousiette, one of stronger weapons of The Church and a weapon that he was used?
A good weapon and ability to use it, can make difference in battle.
Dr Moreu was able to make disappear a trainer, faking his death, and we see clearly there some members a Church help him,, so kidnapping little girl wouldn’t be hard.
If Church is implicate with Granatum tragedy and sister’s missing, we can have a plot line for Astolfo.
Astolfo isn’t loyal to the Church, his drive is hate for vampires, but if found out everything about his family also what doctor Mareu did to his sister and other people, I cannot see Church survive.
Remember Demeter put down on their kneels Olympus, Underground and Earth, when she went ballistic.
But who represent Zeus, my guess is Charles, he is intrigued on Astolfo, but Gano and his blond vice who were asshole, they were showing pity on him saying Charles is scary and should be let the boy die.
I don’t know how Astolfo reached if his sister is alive and vampire, my guess can be deny but I think his love for her would be stronger; Astolfo hates more himself than vampires.
So maybe they can reunite in future but cannot be together because they belong to two different words.
If I’m right I really serious want their reunion being a reproduction of Frederic Leighton-The Return of Persephone (1891).
Astolfo eyes are drawn empty it ‘d be interesting after he reunite with his sis, got reflex back. I like idea also his sis eyes’ make the same.
And or couse they must go together to kick out some ass together.
In worst case she can be the new vessel of queen but remember Demeter's rage...
PS: I'm sorry for mistakes , English isn't my first languange

I have a VNC theory about Roland and Olivier. And this time I brought with me RESEARCH.
Their characters are likely based off the 12th century collection of poems: The Song of Roland. Acclaimed to be the oldest known epic of France. The two were Christian knights who served under King Charlamagne’s rule. Olivier was Roland’s best friend, comrade, and stated to be the wise one in their friendship. While Roland was the impulsive, recklessly courageous. Immensely popular too. Sounds familiar?
There is even a saying “A Roland for an Olivier” because it’s believed they were equally matched in the battlefield.
Tumblr media
Apparently Roland’s fiancé was Olivier’s sister, Aude. Wonder if that’ll ever come up 👀. So since this is an epic tale with Roland being that immaculate hero, his fatal flow is the devotion he has to himself. As said by Olivier, Roland doesn’t dedicate himself necessarily to God but himself as a follower of God. Some interpret this as pride. So at a certain battle at Roncevaux Pass, they realize their men are outnumbered by the enemy. Olivier advises Roland to blow the horn granted to them, calling for aid from the king.
However, Roland refuses and as you can imagine they quarrel over this. But Olivier, drawn by his loyalty to his friend, reluctantly stays as well. Giving a harrowing speech to their armies to fight with honour and boy, is it bloody. Thousands of men are dying from both sides but then Olivier gets impaled from behind by the enemy.
Even then, his combat skills are impressive to where he slices of his attacker’s head with one blow. Roland rushes to Olivier’s side and they make up from their argument from before. AND OLIVIER DIES IN ROLAND’S ARMS GUYS.
Roland is so distraught that he faints but still needs to continue fighting. But finally before dying himself, he blows the horn calling for the king’s help to finish the rest off. They lost 20,000 soldiers. So why bring this up? Well if mochijun is following in the footsteps of this tale, expect all your favorites to die. They’re so many similarities: their positions being called paladins, Roland’s rashness and impulsivity being his downfall. Olivier’s weakness being Roland I MEAN COME ON.

my tweets won’t send on twt and my dms won’t send on instagram, so i’m here to yell my theories into the tumblr void
it probably isn’t linked but! it can be assumed that jeanne’s thirst for blood started after ruthven bit her & made her swear the oath, right? well after ruthven bit noé, the next time we see him is with vanitas & dante before gévaudan & now he suddenly has developed a more extreme desire for vanitas’s blood. he’s shown to be unable to pay attention to the conversation, completely fixated on the stained glove.
maybe being bit by ruthven slowly erodes away at their self control and brings out curse bearer qualities in the victims or something. that, or noé just really #Wants him 💏🌈🤞
doesn’t really explain chloé but idk just some thoughts while i was reading!

Ok so i had this theory or thought pop into my head lately as I’ve been rereading/rewatching vanitas no carte. What if Noé isn’t the only vampire of the crimson moon who finds the blue moon pretty instead of scary? My reasoning is based off a few things; 1) he’s an archiviste & 2) the story might be wrong but this can be connected to the first thing.
1.) He’s an archiviste
- We know Archivistes were a clan of vampires who could see memories by drinking someone’s blood once and were essentially vampires who acted as historians. However we also know they were wiped out for reasons unknown with Noé and the Lady Archiviste whose name hasn’t been revealed yet.
- Maybe the Archiviste clan never feared the blue moon like the other crimson vampires because they would’ve known the truth behind it. Yet I can’t exactly speak for the other Archiviste since much isnt known about her but I have a feeling the clan was wiped out for knowing something crucial.
2.) The story might be wrong
- The story goes that Vanitas of the Blue Moon would corrupt a vampire’s true name in order to enact their revenge for being ostracized. However we know them as someone who was kind shown in flashbacks which leads me to believe that someone tried to erase knowledge of otherwise.
- Luna’s true name was corrupted so they couldn’t have been the one creating curse-bearers or malnomens. Although I would like to point out that there is more than to what meets the eyes so something possibly happened long before present time, we’re just unaware of it.
- Oh! Before I forget, I did say this could be connected to Noé being an Archiviste, didn’t I? Fear not. Archivistes were wiped out as I mentioned earlier but for what remains unknown yet I think it’s because they somehow knew the truth about the blue moon. They may have taught their descendants it is something to not be feared or seen as a bad omen without knowing everything.
— Also, Luna mentioned/told Vanitas to never let an Archiviste see his memories and I don’t know if it’s because they pose as a danger to them when in the wrong hands?! I gotta think about this though.
Kinda makes me think if we will learn more about the Archivistes in the next few chapters (I hope 🥲)
- If this has been said before or something similar then oops
— if seen on twitter then thats me also putting it there 🧍

I don’t know why some characters have rings around their eyes
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But why does Noé have them only in Mochijuns art but not in the manga.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Will he get them eventually, and if so why? Maybe has to do with power but I’m not really sure.

Crazy crack theory about lady archivist;she was friend with Lord and Lady Granatum for that she is so interesting on granatum tragedy and astolfo. She felt guilty she couldn't help them because her status of observer. I know there isn't enough material to make a theory but i will find ironic if lord Granatum wasn't extremist, his dialogue with Astolfo he told him to protect the people because it's their duty. He didn't say something about killing all vampires or serve the Church.
Now I disapper!!!
Hi there, this is a really interesting theory!
I don't like to think that Lady Archiviste is merely an observer without other desires or socialization outside her research of stories (like a Jury was). So to give her a complex background with a vampire haunt family would be really nice and another demonstration that vampires and humans are not that different and can get along.
And I agree with you dear sifya, there is not enough info to make a full theory, but it's a good take.

VNC Amusement Park arc spoilers (manga ch 55(.5) / anime ep 24)
** NOT for “Misha absolutely did nothing wrong ever” fans, perhaps
** my brief theory about That Day (when Vanitas killed Luna and left Misha)
** potential spoilers **
.
.
Vanitas' (no) Apology
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On the roof, Vani gave Misha the explanation on why he killed Luna, why he wouldn’t go with Misha, etc.
After Misha left, Vani apologized to Noe for what he did yesterday.
It’s Noe’s FIRST time to hear / see some SERIOUS apology from Vani for his ACTUAL fault ever, especially compared to his forced kiss on Jeanne and his playful apology for it, for example...
That’s why Noe got surprised, confused, and even worried XD
Tumblr media
“Vani killed Luna! And left Misha alone!! Vani is sooo terrible--”
Tumblr media
“Whaaat, as if Vani did nothing wrong on That Day--”
Tumblr media
Of course, I do NOT mean Misha is the real culprit “simply because” Vani did not apologize to him lol I do NOT mean Vani never played any negative role at all in the tragedy on That Day, either...
However, I personally believe
it’s still very normal for a traumatized victim to want to avoid the aggressive culprit at all costs, who already caused huge damage, including some unwanted death...even if they’re family.
I’d like to elaborate more about That Day later...! Thanks for reading!!

I was thinking about this post. And I have a head with thoughts.
I warn you that my English is crooked. But I'll try to get my point.
What if Noe is part of this story because he is undergoing initiation to become a full-fledged Archivste?
Lady Archivste said the following words in chapter 59 - attention to the screenshot:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I thought: every Archivste should have the first "memory" that was entrusted to him. Maybe the story of Vanitas and the others is a test for Noe? He most relive the story and bring it to the end himself, in order to understand how important the work of his clan and the preservation of "books" are?

A thought about Astolfo's sister name. Fanon name is Louisette because for his weapon, but we know Charles called that lance Louisitte,so this name wasn't decided by Astolfo.
But the palandins are connect song of Ronald which gives ispiration to other poems, one Orlando Furioso. In this poem Orlando/Ronald is in competition for hand of Angelica, who her action and obsetion on her brought the fail of paladins.
If the theory Astolfo sis is N°70, she would be a very important witness of Church actions, so Ronald would need/protect her while Rinaldo wants to kill her.
You can tell but Vanitas and Misha can be also witness, we are talking about classist society who wouldn't listened to "low class",plus they are both kin of infamous vampire.
Astolfo's sister is an heir of important family of palandine, her word can be very dangerous to corropts.
So I think if she is going to apper, her name would be Angelina.
