ᰔ. wrong package : mike schmidt — suggestive warning !! + ft. secondhand embarrassment.
Tumblr media
next door neighbor mike who randomly appears in front of your doorstep, an unusual flushed look in his tired features. neither of you have been formally acquainted, if you don’t count the forced awkward exchanges when getting the mail outside.
although, mike was good looking despite his unkempt demeanor — the remnant memories of his stiff politeness and husk voice had you fawning over him for as long as you were made aware of his presence. but it seems like he’d rather get to work or rest at home than getting to know any of his neighbors.
but now, he stands in front of you shifting one foot over the other — his wavering eyes settling onto the torn box in his grasp rather than your face. there was a bob to his throat, swallowing down on his thickening saliva in anticipation.
“uh sorry to bother you, but i’ve actually gotten your package on accident and ummm … i opened it.” his fumbling words shot through his lips like he’s in a rush, but you still manage to make his statement coherent.
he directs your curious eyes over the beaten package and immediately, your polite smile turned into a silent scream. the rabbit vibrator that you ordered online was hastily covered in some old newspaper — what mike probably did beforehand out respect of your already invaded privacy. the hot pink color and obnoxious packaging taunting you. your name was bold and printed on the delivery sticker, sparing you no excuses for your erotic purchase.
your dilated pupils and now flushed complexion made mike feel apologetic, yet somewhat amused. his encounters with you were a rarity, but he made sure to remember those moments. like when you would focus on reading the mail beside the shared mailbox, the way your face looked so cute carefully squinting and mumbling each word. or even that time you mistaken his sister as his daughter, the same dust of pink settled onto your cheeks like it did now.
mike formed an impression that you’re put together and tooth achingly innocent, but after accidentally opening your package — his superficial thoughts about you has gone down south and into the depths of a more lustrous head space.
how would you look like using it? what would you sound like? crude and carnal ideas spilling over the mental image of your face, his senses clouded with this new epiphany.
he carefully hovers his hand over yours and guides them with a phantom touch, placing the package gently in your stiffened grasp. the furrow in your brows and lack of response made him worried you might pass out — but then you began to sputter a shy “thank you”, your quivering eyes never meeting his. it was a nice look, he couldn’t deny it.
“i won’t tell, promise.” his previous nervous manner completely melted away as he teases you for a bit, his pointer finger pressed against his friendly smile — like it could somehow permanently seal his lips from exposing your status on your sex life.
you nodded, not trusting yourself to speak — not when you heart feels like it’s about to explode while your body temperature is fighting between haunting chills or overwhelming heat. the gaze in his eyes was much more darker and relaxed than before. weirdly enough, you trust him like you’ve known him your whole life. mike gives you a friendly farewell before he makes his way back into his house.
slowly shutting the door with a solid click, you immediately pathetically fall to your knees and shriek in absolute horror — the box crashing down with you and revealing the one thing that made this rare exchange so humiliating, embarrassment settling so thick in your core. your hot neighbor knowing you’re sexually active? currently getting off to a dingy sex toy? you cannot go back outside again, not if you’re going to possibly see him. hell, you cannot even use the toy without thinking of mike. it’s like he cursed it with some spell, the whispers of his name draw closer each passing second whenever you gaze at the toy.
his ears perk at the bloodcurdling scream that pierced through your closed windows — one so loud and dramatic, it sounded like an active crime scene. he couldn’t help but helplessly laugh into his baggy sleeves, prickles of tears in the corners of his eyes. it’s been awhile since he’s laughed like that, it was needed. returning back home felt less eventful, your embarrassment still making him chuckle under his breath and somewhat eager to see it on you again.
of course, there’s no shame of getting yourself off, but if you needed a helping hand — mike would gladly come over and do his due diligence to be the perfect neighbor. with his new image of you carved into his mind and colorful second impression of you, maybe it’s time for him to make a more formal introduction of himself, once you actually start recovering from your eternal embarrassment.

one way kui shows some colorism is in the orcs. the only lightskinned orcs are the baby and Leed - the two members of their race that are the "nicest"- the most open to outsiders, and willing to negotiate. this plays into the idea of people with lighter skin being more "pure" in some way. i know there are other characters with dark skin, but looking at the orcs, i think it's a bit of an issue. i dont think kui is a violent racist or anything, but i do think her choices when it comes to the orcs' skin colors reveal some biases she has.
I wasn't gonna answer this at first cause I didn't want to drag that subject further but I couldn't really stop thinking about it.
While is true that there's colorism in there, especially cause Leed is the cutest and most human looking orc and also the lightest one. I think this ask kinda reveals our own biases more than anything
Leed isn't nice at all, Zon is the nice and rational one between the two of them.
Which one of this characters let them go and gave his blessing so the other orcs left them alone, even tho they disrespected him to his face several times, and which one was gonna kill one of them herself cause that's a novelty and was gonna feed another as a toy to the dogs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wouldn't say the light skinned orc is the nicer one. Just because she's cuter, a girl and the most human looking one between them doesn't mean she's the nicest. She only respected and helped them once she learned they had a deal with Zon, there's no sympathy for outsiders in this girl.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ignoring skincolor and thinking about the purpose of the character design I don't think its a coincidence the cute one is ruthless and the "uglier" (Zon is hot but you know) one is the actual one worried about a realistic solution.
And the baby orc I think only had an official color in the anime that was made by trigger? I don't remember Zon's son having a color in art by Ryoko Kui. Anyway I'm not defending Kui's choices I just don't think we should have biases "against" or "for" her when we don't actually know her and instead engage objectively with the good and the bad of her work.

It’s not talked about enough that the reason Izuku thinks of saving others as an ideal is because he spent so much of his life being terrorized by others. That he’s a great hero because he knows what it feels like to be in need of saving

bsd fandom is so awesome because bsd is so inherently gay that we're free from typical anime discussion. if i had to see powerscaling with bsd characters i would do something violent. the contents of bsd simply weed the dudebros out. it's natural selection

Just read the weirdest gotcha against asserting that corsets were not universal torture devices, on Instagram
Some bright spark challenges a historical costumer, “if you think corsets were so comfortable, why don’t you just WEAR ONE?!“
Oh
Oh no
please don’t tell me to wear a corset
I would just. I hate that so much. I would hate it especially if it were of sage green cotton sateen with black flossing designs. That would. Suck so bad.
Oh commenter, please don’t buy me a RedThreaded gift card, since they’re having a sale right now, and thus compel me to take up this vile challenge

I finished my neutral run of Undertale Yellow yesterday, and I'm still thinking about how cool it was. The graphics in the final boss fight were so impressive and the different art styles were executed incredibly. The reveal that Clover would stay with Toriel if Flowey didn't intervene I think adds so much to the hints of their past we get throughout the game. I think it's not unreasonable to interpret this as Clover desiring a better home life so much that they would be willing to sacrifice their mission for it. It's a neat character detail.
I think the absolute coolest part of it all, though, is the pre-fight because it shows how well the dev team understood what made Undertale special. Undertale played on the expectations of your average gamer, and Undertale Yellow in turn plays on your expectations as someone who liked Undertale enough to seek out a fan game for it. I think it's safe to say that most people probably got the pacifist ending on their first run since they weren't forced into a neutral run like in Undertale. The pacifist ending basically shows the best and presumably canon ending for Undertale Yellow. After all, the only person who has to die is Clover. This naturally raises the question of what happens on a neutral run. It must be meaningfully different, or else it wouldn't be optional. Doing a low LV neutral run initially presents what would probably have been a fairly decent outcome for most characters if Flowey didn't step in. (Also it raises a really fascinating ethical question on whether you would be willing to sacrifice one random scrub monster or robot for a decent ending where Clover gets to live.) Without Flowey's intervention at the end, Dalv would stop isolating and would connect with the inhabitants of the Ruins, Ceroba would find solace in being with the Feisty Five, Starlo would return to his old self and makes good with his posse, Axis would get to remain active and without his anger issues, and Martlet and Clover would get to have a pleasant existence together. Now, all of this is, admittedly, pretty hypothetical, but it's not unreasonable to assume that this is how things would go. For those that wanted an ending where Clover lives, the neutral route seems to provide that as a possibility. And then it rips that possibility away. It plays with and takes advantage of that desire I think most people have to see all of the main cast if not happy, then at least content. Even though we got the "best" ending and know Clover has to die, we still want that wish fulfillment of seeing everyone together after the credits roll, and I think the devs were fully aware of that. It is genuinely so impressive that the devs managed to make such the neutral run into something so fascinating when it could have easily been a boring, stepping stone on the way to the other endings

people are discoursing about the laios and shiro fight bc that was always going to happen but i do hope that wave crests quickly and we can all come to see it as what it is: literally one of the best written fights between two people who are both entirely justified in their actions and acting without any malice or cruelty of all time
#theres a tendency - especially in action and faction based media (which a lot of fantasy is or is in dialogue with) - to depict fights only#as happening between someone who Is Right and someone who Is Wrong#and getting to see a full on beatdown between two dudes who are both acting in an entirely understandible way and who both dont actually#want to hurt the other at all - to the extent where their desire to maintain a positive relationship with each other is the SOURCE of their#conflict in the first place - is just so cathartic to see#like unpopular opinion but sometimes you do just need to Fight someone to work through issues youre having#like irl i would not recommend that extent of Force obviously#but if you're two people in a situation where neither has active power over the other sometimes the healthiest option involves expressing#and receiving genuine anger that is not filtered through a social buffer#like sometimes you just need to yell that someone is pissing you off by how much they invade ur time and space and sometimes you need to#yell that someone is sabotaging your ability to interact with them by not expressing any discomfort with your behaviour ever#AND MOST IMPORTANTLY SOMETIMES YOU NEED TO BE YELLED AT#BECAUSE it sucks. it sucks to experience and until you can both share that space of feeling awful with each other youre not gonna get past#it and you're not gonna understand each other's pain#i think they're both wonderfully well written characters and its a testament to their depth as people that i can so easily understand why#and how both of them are behaving the way they do#im still only like halfway through the manga but it is like my favourite character interaction scene so far#fred says a thing#dunmeshi

Yknow I never felt really included in most “women’s spaces” whether I identified with it or had it projected onto to me, not because of an emphasis on liking femininity that I did not ever share, but on a hatred of men and masculinity. The most effeminate femmes in the whole world didn’t isolate me as much as cis and trans folks alike who loathe men and masculinity.
I cannot relate to trans spaces that hate maleness. That hate masculinity. That see either as the mark of evil, and anyone who wasn’t as wise or strong as you to reject both is some nuisance.
I am delighted for folks, cis and trans, who have shaped femininity and femaleness into a home. But the self-loathing that comes from transfemme and transmasc spaces is suffocating. I wish I had Kate Bornstein’s patience with separatism, and while I don’t have it, I do hope you all heal from this trauma that makes you so vile to your own siblings and comrades.
In the meantime, I hope it is simply a lack of curation on my part, and that the seeming dominance of ra/dfem politics in trans spaces is a loud minority I am being exposed to here.
