“Takahiro Takeda, postgraduate student of Japan's Tohoku Univ. dances with Partner Ballroom Dance Robot (PBDR) at a factory of Nomura Unison robotic venture company in Chino city, 200-km west of Toyko. The prototype dance partner robot, developed by Japan's Tohoku University Professor Kazuhiro Kosuge, enables them to move in all directions with three special wheels by predicting how its partner will move with a sensor. The robot will be displayed at the World Expo Aichi 2005.”

there is no box step in 1860s waltz

I just...haven't had a reason to yet.

Dick: Ballet - contrary to popular belief, i feel like dick would be ballet. he is very disciplined and correct in so many ways i feel like most people would put him into acro bc hes a gymnast but it doesnt feel right. he would also make an amazing male ballet dancer, i just know it. dick would also love the challenge that ballet brings

Jason: hip hop - i feel like this is self explanatory but still, it just makes sense that jason would be hip hop, hes not very "dancer" like the other robins but he is still coordinated and fast

Tim: jazz - i struggled to find one that fit tim but i feel like jazz would be the best fit, its got fas footwork without feeling restricted. tim would also be a more broadway jazz (yes bc hes bi) wich is more structured and i feel like he would like that

Dami: Tap - he would love the pure joy that comes out of smashing the ground and he would also get to annoy is siblings (tim) with all the racket he would make practicing

Bruce: Ballroom - bruce doesnt seem much of a dancer, so i gave him something regal, something that alfred may have put im into because they were rich and had to keep bruce out of trouble

Alfred: flamenco - in his MI6 days, he would have had to have been quick and sharp and always alert and flamenco is just perfect for that

new idea

so i used to ballroom dance and the issue was that there were never enough boys for all the girls who wanted to dance. which makes sense because dancing is frequently considered "girly" even though it requires all this strength and perseverance, which are typically considered "manly." not that I agree with any of that but that's the general perception of society

now consider: girls in suits are way hot

what if some of the extra girls decided to learn the guys' part instead and just got dressed up all hot in whatever the guy would wear and so you could get lesbians competing??? ??

Also this could go the other way tbh I would love to see a couple of guys in long flowy dresses like slay

had a dance competition today and met another dancer who has POTS!!!! they are an ambulatory wheelchair user and then compete Latin styles with their cane and they adapted the syllabus moves with that. it actually made me so so happy to meet other disabled people <3

i did end up fainting pretty badly in our final round which was so fucking frustrating and had to deal with the spectators freaking out and calling 911. luckily rest of the day was good and im resting at home now but was a little more dramatic than i wanted.

Literally nothing is better for my mental health than dancing twice a week. I’ve done three kinds of swing, waltz, foxtrot, polka, tango, salsa, marimba, rumba... it’s so much fun! I love dancing!! I love twirling!! I love dancing with new dancers and watching them slowly become good dancers over the course of a few weeks and telling them that I’m proud of them and watching them notice that I’m having actual fun dancing with them!!! I love being the chaotic good dance friend!!!!!!

There is not enough love for smooth/standard in this world. Rhythm/latin get so much of the love bc they’re energetic and like sexy or whatever but smooth is just as energetic, it’s graceful and got so much volume, it’s fast and powerful and flirtatious, it’s the push and pull and story of two people, and standard is beautiful too, it’s all connection and dimension and clean lines, it is history and art and science, it’s slow control and quick strength, and both of them are breath, sweat, the ache in your heels and your knees, the burning in you shoulders and back, the performance and the lights, the costume, the floor, the connection between you and the music and your partner and everyone watching.
