Hi! Could you do a Lockwood x reader where she’s on Kipps’ team and they’re in love with each other ever since they first met and he asks her out to the Fittes ball? If this makes sense- just a lot of fluff and stuff. Thanks :) ❤️
—enchanted
pairing: anthony lockwood x reader
summary: lockwood and reader, a fittes agent, have been in love ever since they first met and its been quite obvious for anyone else, but them
"quit making it so obvious, will ya?" Quill exclaimed, after the team and you followed him out of the church, where your current mission was held.
"what are you talking about?" you asked, quiet startled by Quill's sudden remark. normally it was Bobby who would get the jabs from the older boy and normally he would compliment your effort. he seemed to be a bit aggravated at the moment though.
"don't play dumb, y/n" Quill shook his head "anyone could read the infatuation from off your face" he stopped and turned to look at you "even now, still"
you scrunched your eyebrows together, still not understanding what your cousin was saying. "Quill" you said lowly "could we please discuss this somewhere else" your eyes hinted at the rest of your team, that was still standing beside you
"its fine, really" Quill ignored your worry "I mean, its not as it isn't obvious from him too"
"what?" you asked confused. it was true, you had been in love with Anthony Lockwood from the moment you first laid eyes on him, but you never thought he reciprocated that feeling. he just was friendly with you, that was all.
"oh c'mon, y/n!" Quill bellowed "Lockwood is obsessed with you!"
"no, he isn't" your eyes darted from Quill towards your teammates
"he's right" Bobby nodded, when your eyes finally landed on him
you shook your head, still not believing what you were hearing
"you can't be that oblivious, can you?" your eyes darted back to your cousin, the blonde boy raising his eyebrows, like he was questioning your intelligence, or your sanity even. "hello, y/n" he said, trying to imitate Lockwood "would you like some tea? I bought it on my way here"
"that's not-"
"y/n!" Bobby joined in "your hair looks so gorgeous today, you should style it like this more often"
"guys, please-"
"if your cousin gets too infuriating, you know you can always start at my agency" Kat added
"ok well, but that's just Lockwood being friendly, alright? we've known each other for a long time, we're friends okay?"
"that doesn't look like friendship to me" Kat muttered
"he literally remembered a book you mentioned once and went to an autography session, just so the author could sign it" Quill rolled his eyes "I wouldn't even do that and I'm your family! just make a move already, poor boys probably getting tired of licking your shoes"
you opened your mouth, stunned at what Quill had just said "he told me his mum had that book flying around and he didn't need it anymore, and that it was already signed when he found it"
"well, it wasn't"
it was weirdly out of character for Quill to stand up for Lockwood, his more or less enemy, like that.
"look, y/n" Quill said firmly "I'm not a fan of Lockwood and he's definitely not my friend, but the poor bloke is literally suffering in front of all of our eyes, its gotten pathetic. the fittes ball is at the end of this week, and if he won't ask you out, then I will write a letter and get him to do it, alright? get yourself together and please stop acting like a love drunken idiot"
"huh?" you exclaimed startled, as you watched Quill turn around and walk down the way, back to the entry of the cemetery, the rest of your team following. you picked up your pace until you were next to them again.
that very evening though, you received a letter from Lockwood himself, asking you to accompany him to the ball. Quill had taken it out of the mailbox and had held it up like a treasure, muttering I told you so.
the afternoon before the ball had been spend by trying on different dresses and forcing Quill to be your fashion consultant, until he was so fucked off he was ready to jump out of the window
"really, y/n" he had said "you could even go dressed in a potato sack and he would still look at you the whole night"
so now you were standing in front of the house, to your luck, not dressed in a potato sack, but a glistening red dress that ended right at your thighs, waiting for Lockwood to pick you up
"hello" he said stunned when he had stepped out of the taxi to hug you and open the door for you. "you look absolutely mesmerising"
these words and the look on his face while saying it, gave you the first moment in which you actually believed what quill had told you. Lockwood was never the one to hold back on compliments, maybe that's why you've never noticed it before.
the ball was in full swing when you two entered the venue, Lockwood holding onto your hand tightly, as if you might slip away if he'd let go of it.
"fancy a drink?" one of the servers asked and Lockwood took one glass for each of you, downing the liquor as soon as he had handed you your glass.
"nervous?" you asked, laughing at his sudden keenness on drinking
"yes, actually" he said, looking up from the glass and finding your eyes instead. "I'm not normally. only ever when I'm around you. George and Lucy said that its gotten really obvious at this point"
"Quill said that too" you added and Lockwood looked up surprised
"even kipps noticed?" he muttered frustrated
"yeah" you shrugged your shoulders "but particularly he meant me"
"you?" Lockwood asked confused and you nodded "oh"
"yes, oh" you smiled uncomfortably "they even got me as far as to believe that there was something going on, between us, I mean"
"oh" Lockwood repeated
"oh?" your voice sounded more hurt than you had anticipated
"no- I mean not oh, but oh!" Lockwood tried to save himself from the awkwardness "I didnt think we would get to the point as fast, but here we are, and it's seems like I don't really have to tell you what I feel anymore"
"no you don't, technically" you smiled "but I'd still like to hear it from you"
"well in that case" Lockwood laughed "I like you, y/n. since always"
"oh, since always?" you laughed "very specific"
"since the moment I laid eyes on you, to be exact. and here I am, asking you if you feel the same"
"obviously" you smiled at the grinning boy in front of you "it wasn't any different for me, I knew it was over the moment I saw you"
"well, what can I say?" Lockwood chuckled "meeting me enchants people"

I saw you say you before you had a literature degree and recommended reads before (the poems were really good) do you have any other books/poems you recommend (not just Arabic ones but any?)
WOOO putting my degree to good use. So I had to read a lot of classics, short stories, and documents like declarations/speeches/etc. so a lot of books you'll see below are most likely classics or at least from a few decades ago. I mostly work with children now so my newest reads are kid's books (if someone else wants those, feel free to ask!!). My recommendations are below- again, PLLEEEASSEEE be very careful about content warnings and go in with an open mind!
So I'm going to be very very frank, my favorite writer and poet is William Blake. Cannot recommend him enough. "Ah, Sunflower", "The Lamb", "The Tygre", "The Angel"- William Blake my beloved. Fun fact, he's one of the founders/earliest writers of the Romantic Era. He also does gorgeous artworks that either go alongside his books- can't recommend him enough he's amazing.
Do you like autographies? No? Too bad, go read The Autobiography of Malcolm X this is a threat!!!!! I really think this is one everyone should read, it's phenomenal and raw, but also gives you something to discuss and ponder about.
The Duchess of Malfi by John Webster. Could not put this down. It's a play set in Italy just go read it if you like tragedies and drama I was GASPING the whole time.
Mrs. Dalloway by Virgina Woolf. A shorter read at less than 200 pages. Deals with post-WW1 in a stream of consciousness narrative about a day in the life of Mrs. Dalloway.
I have to, have to, always recommend Toni Morrison. By god is her writing amazing, but I have to give a big big big warning that her books will probably destroy you for a few days. The Bluest Eye especially. Heavy content warnings for her works but... if you can stomach it, absolutely someone you should read.
Other Recommendations I'm not Going Into Heavy Detail About:
Rappaccini's Daughter and Young Goodman Brown by Nathaniel Hawthorne
The Cask of Amontillado, Ligeia, the Masque of the Red Death, and The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe.
Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl by Harriet Jacobs.
Sweat and Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Thurston.
Dracula by Bram Stoker.
Good Country People and A Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O'Connor
"Who Said It Was Simple" but also basically anything by Audre Lorde.
Cathedral by Raymond Carver.
Everyday Use by Alice Walker.
Woman Hollering Creek by Sandra Cisneros.

fic by CRMcCarthy
556 pages / 166,380 words
Title Font: Doctor Glitch, Cheap Potatoes
Body Fonts: Crimson Pro, Century Gothic, Unique, 1782 Thurneysen, Book Antiqua, Golden Hopes, Autography, Katagami Signature, Better Grade, Southam, Headline One, Kirana Script, Aliya Ramsey
More on the process below the cut!
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? It's an author copy! This is by and large my biggest single-volume fic to date, and boy is it a whopper! This is a really cool fic, with a wizard serial killer and CSI Draco Malfoy & Hermione Granger to the rescue. It's a unique, post-war take, and an incredibly fun bind. I kept the fic as one volume, with sawtooth edges to mimic the classic mystery novel look. I also modeled the typeset after Sherlock Holmes - with the outline, the frame, and the skyline of London.
For the cover, I chose to use simple iconography, since the title page has so much going on and I wanted the two to compliment each other. This fic also holds my personal record for most fonts used in a single fic, with how much it had going on! It had a magazine, newspaper headlines, manuscript, and seven different types of handwriting, for a grand total of 15 fonts! As a result, I kept the accents of the typeset minimal, to allow the type to shine.
