"What will you do once I pass away?" The question came out of the blue, but such strange questions were par for the course at this point. Gamigin was nuzzling to your neck when you spoke, but he wasn't phased.
"I'll revive you. Death won't be permenent in Paradise Lost for as long as I'm around to stop it." You were running a hand through his blue hair, playing with a strand of it.
"But what if you don't revive me? If you can't revive me? What will you do then?" The dragon stopped kissing up your neck and shifted so he would be at eye level with you on the bed. He looked confused and hurt which almost made you ashamed that you asked the question.
"My staff can bring anyone back from the dead."
"Ok, but I age and demons don't what about that? What if I get so old I want to die to end my mysery."
Gamigin looked even more confused by your words. He didn't quite understand why humans aged so fast. He pouted in thought and stared at the ceiling. After a while, with a stern voice he asks "How long do humans usually live for?"
You try to remember your anthropology classes and what the avarage age of death was for your country, but you just can't put your finger on it. "I don't know, 70 or something like that." "70! Only 70 years!?!" He pushed you to the bed and pinned you to it with a shocked expression. His mind was working overtime trying to calculate just how long that timespan felt like.
Finally, he turns to you and holds your hands softly kissing them both. He stares determined in your eyes. "You are going to have the most exciting life ever. I promise you. What do you wish to do before you die?"
You've never seen him so stern, but the question was one that you've many times asked yourself yet never seemed to have an answer to. Gamigin's glare was starting to intimidate you so you gently slap his face.
"Don't look at me like that! You're making me nervous! I don't know what I want to do before I die. I just kind of want to see where life takes me."
Gamigin smiles like he usually does and pins you to the bed with a hug. His staff, which he kept in one hand at all times, jiggled lively as you both collapsed on the cottage bed.
"Well then, I want to cuddle with you and rewatch the 'How to Train Your Dragon' trilogy. And then we can play blackjack and whoever wins has to wash the dishes after dinner!" Gamigin proclaimed before kissing your cheek and nuzzling into it.
"Who tought you blackjack?" It was strange hearing your usually innocent boyfriend putting forth the idea of blackjack of all things.
"My brother Buer. He also thought me the dishes strategy as well. Jokes on him, I won." His giggle was contagious and you two ended up just cuddling and watching movies for the better half of the night.
If your relationship with Gamigin thought you anything, it was that you didn't have to live through bombastic experiences to enjoy life. You were having the time of your life just being close to him.

you should talk about your thoughts on rw fanon (looking with huge eyes)
Oh god, there's a lot of major misconceptions have concreted into fanon, mostly around ancient society and ascension.
First things first! Ascension is not death! They are entirely separate things treated entirely separately by the text of the game. I can see where the interpretation is coming from, but it doesn't really align with how the text treats either subject. Five Pebbles may want to remove the self destruction taboo, but from his reaction to the rot it's clear that he doesn't want to die. Conflation of ascension and death only comes up as an offhand possibility that pebbs makes on iterator 4chan, when he's going into the possibilities of scenarios that even the other sliverists are doubtful of! (let me make clear that I am not a sliverist by any means)
Ascension is more of talked about as a form of transcendence, yeah? A Bell, Eighteen Amber Beads talks about their sitution as being "To have grasped at the boundless infinites of the cosmic void…", not as them seeking an end to life.
The beta dialogue goes into more detail, mentioning the "infinities of time and space" and the "boundless fractal planes of spirit and reality...", though this dialogue was cut and it's hard to tell how much it reflects the concept as in the released game.
As for the cultural misconceptions... there's A Lot to talk about, but the first that comes to mind is the common conflation of the five natural urges and the christian concept of sin.
It is true that the negation of urges is mentioned by moon as an alternative method of ascension, but much of what we know about the culture of the people who the fandom calls the ancients (which makes discussion of the depths a mess but that's something for another post entirely) points towards the urges not being seen as shameful.
Even the first urge does not seem to be particularly scorned! Being a warrior is presented as a cause for bragging in the Shaded Citadel pearl, being comparable with being an artist and a fashion legend. The second urge, also does not seem to be suppressed. Multiple sources attribute some level of honour to parenthood! The aforementioned pearl also mentions Seventeen Axes, Fifteen Spoked Wheel as being a "Mother, Father and Spouse" without any hint of shamefulness. Nineteen Spades, Endless Reflections expresses pride about having progeny, mentioning it alongside their owned land and esteem among their peers.
After some peer review, an esteemed friend has told me to add a section on purposed organisms as well! This is not so much my area, so I might be a bit off on some things.
As moon says, the majority of purposed organisms were tubes in boxes, and that the primal fauna of the world are almost entirely extinct. A lot of the fandom seems to ignore the first part, and i can't say I blame them, but the evolution of the creatures is so much weirder than people think.
Concept art for the creatures has this interesting quality to it, where the organic parts of the creatures have an almost... melty quality to them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the concept art, the flesh appears as if it's almost defying the machinery to form an animal shape. It's as if it's conquering its own artificiality the way the foliage grows over the (stone, brick and concrete, not mostly metal as some think!) ruins.
Of course, it's hard to really tell how much of this reflects the finalised concept, most of the integration is much smoother in the game, in line with a seamless kind of biomechanical design. There was always an intention of biomechanical strangeness, as shown in this screenshot of the devlog before the term "slugcat" even existed!
Tumblr media
That said, the melty nature of the concept art shows a level of wild change inherent the biomechanical nature of the creatures, as if they truly are the result of these "tubes in boxes" almost revolting against their own boxes.
and considering centipedes... some tubes may not have had boxes in the first place!

On April 28, 2009, I posted the very first chapter of this story.  Today-- fourteen years, eight months, and three weeks later-- I posted the last.
Tumblr media
I didn’t plan for this story to take me a decade and a half to write.  I didn’t plan to take a ten-year hiatus halfway through.  But life happened and the responsibilities of adulthood overtook the ambitions of youth. Still, never once in all those years did I forget about my story.  Never once did I consider it abandoned.  Through it all, I always intended to go back to it. To the writers out there worrying that it has been too long since their last update to continue: There is no such thing.  To those worrying they are too old: There is no such thing.  To those worrying they are too busy to update frequently enough: There is no such thing.  If writing brings you joy, write.  Don’t worry about the timeline, don’t worry about how often you can or cannot update.  Don’t worry about whether you might be losing readers—the readers that matter will wait (believe it or not, I actually had a few readers still there waiting for me after ten years without a word!).  And even if none do wait, you’ll find new readers along the way.  If it brings you joy, then write. To the readers out there anxiously waiting for an update from their favourite authors:  Tell them.  No, don’t just drop a kudos and move on.  Leave the comment, write the review, DM them, it doesn’t matter, just tell them!  You never know when a simple message saying that you are still there waiting might make an author pick up their quill again. And finally, to my own readers.  My wonderful, glorious, patient, kind-hearted, and encouraging readers.  I would never have finished this story without you.  This story exists because of you.  I write because of you.  Thank you.

An expression flickered across Tom’s face so quickly that he couldn’t read it. “I won’t do it again,” he said after a beat, sounding far less flippant than he had before. He was on top of Draco, a knee on each side of his hips, one hand still on his shoulder from rolling him over, the other on the pillow beside his head. He was, well, not warm but solid, real. It was difficult to be angry with him when he was so close.

Lately, I've observed a recurring pattern across various fandoms that I'd like to address. It seems that both myself and others I have spoken with have been receiving comments from individuals who delve into great detail about their dislike for our stories. These comments tend to focus on perceived flaws or deviations from character portrayals. Unfortunately, these critiques rarely end on a positive note, and it can be quite frustrating.
As authors, we invest significant amounts of time and effort into crafting our stories. While I personally appreciate constructive criticism (although I understand that not everyone feels the same way!), what I've been encountering is different. It appears that some individuals express their dissatisfaction in a lacklustre manner, posing their dislike as half-hearted questions or providing lengthy suggestions on how the story should have unfolded. This is not an entirely new phenomenon, but recently, I've noticed an increase in this behaviour. I've spoken to numerous authors who have similar experiences to share.
I kindly request that as commenters, we strive to be more mindful of how our words come across. Waking up to a comment that attacks the several hours to years of work we've (authors) poured into our stories is never a pleasant experience. Please understand that my intention is not to sound harsh; quite the contrary, and I want to emphasize that my following words are not directed at any specific individual, as I've come across numerous comments of this nature (many in the last week, in fact). I simply believe it is important to highlight the significant time and effort fanfic authors dedicate to their stories. If you find yourself not enjoying an author’s work, refrain from expressing your dissatisfaction directly to us. Writing is a hobby, not a duty.

I work for a Palestinian man at his small business. It's just me, him, and two others doing env. testing. He is old and has family in the region. I've shown my support already, donated money for medical supplies etc. Do I go on strike, or would causing him problems at this time be counterproductive? I feel like I'm in one of the few situations where I'm behooved not to go on strike for this specific instance.
hi - yes, in this situation, i absolutely agree with you here. I can't imagine what your employer must be feeling right now, and I think if there's anything you can do to minimise his burden, that would be wonderful.
If at all possible this week and if you're in a situation where it's doable, I think it would also be a good idea to try do something nice for him. And, if you feel comfortable about it and his business takes donations, feel free to share a link in the replies.

I'm pleased to inform you that the wait is over! Here is CHAPTER TWO of For Everything
Chapters: 2/
Fandom: Spider-Man: Spider-Verse (Sony Animated Movies)
Rating: Mature Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence, Major Character Death Relationships: Miles Morales/Gwen Stacy | Spider-Gwen Summary:
~Perhaps they were meant for each other. It was written in the stars—stars meant to burn out in their all at once powerful surge. Stars meant to fall. Bright, burning and then gone. And in its sudden demise, no one would even remember it was once there, lost in the infinity of severed constellations.
That was the way of the universe. That was the way it had to be.~
Alternatively: Gwen Stacy is doomed but Miles Morales’ love might save her.
Please feel free to reblog to support and share my work!
