A Brief Respite (spoilers)

Ya know never occurred to me they'd all be at the Inn. The refugees we saved of course.

You know I'm still curious as to the exact mechanics as to how Wargoth Sr did this. Feels like the answer lies with in affecting the Empress since all Atealan are supposed to come from her but I'm just not sure.

That being said,

I'm curious if we might one day aid in the Atealans reclaiming this power. Seems unlikely given that they would no longer have a reason to be on Lore, save out of sentiment, but it would be nice to explore if the damage Wargoth did was truly permanent.

Hard decisions made by the atealan people or the Empress?

I'm just loving the exposition that gives so much but hides just enough for new players that won't have a lot of the context older players already have.

Assuming its still canon, this would be a perfect spot in the time line of the Atealan's history for the trithril curse to have begun. Surely some among their numbers would have desperately wanted to try to have their people be able to live under sunlight without affliction once more and travel beyond Somorah

Avatars, the side-by-side exposition/foreshadowing art is just too damn good.

And then there's the characterization...

I love how devastating it feels to know that a world has been basically been lost forever, somebody's home and loved ones. It's the shoe that drops for Alz'Ein that makes it clear they can never go back to where they came from and worse the enemy responsible for all that loss is still coming after them.

Stronger than who Alz'Ein? Veyla? The Fallen? Surely not Wargoth.

Ah I can smell the frustration of the Rising Fire War from here.

So question, am I the only one who ships Freya and Kratos or am I just a weirdo?

No. You. Are. Not.

I shipped them since God of War. I had vibes, but Faye recently died. Just died a few days ago. Then the whole Baldur thing.

Ragnarok didn't help. Because sure, she did try to kill him. Repeatedly. But seeing their friendship mend by learning more about each other and their traumas really bridged that gap.

By the end, they're definitely family. Remember, Freya has two daughters in the myths that haven't come up yet. I wouldn't be surprised if we get another game down the line in the distant future where Kratos and Freya have twin daughters.

Not gonna say it's happening just that I wouldn't be surprised.

Kett’s 2022 Art Retrospective

I have definitely drawn things this year. I wanna show it to you!! Let’s take a look back together!

This is a long post! Separated month by month. If you wanna join me, just keep reading!

January

This January I have decided Kett should wear something, at least one time, just so they could feel it and gauge if they liked it or not.

They did not quite like it.

February

During the middle of January, I caught covid and felt miserable. So I wasn’t really feeling it in regards to drawing. I still did some experimentation, however and doodled up a little comic sort of thing

Abstrakett was initially developed as a form of representing myself even if I fell into a particularly bad slump. I was in a particularly bad slump in February, and I believe this was a form of rejecting it.

It didn’t quite work, because I hadn’t drawn much else for this month. And I didn’t draw the next month, either.

April

For April I decided to become bunny

I also took TWO commissions during this month, and worked on some personal projects, such as an alphabet for a language in my setting

Looks like I was back in full swing. Let’s not lose the momentum.

June

Looks like I lost the momentum. I may have not drawn in May.

For June, however, I put this out:

This is a drawing I’m still happy with. A little bit of playing around with perspective! I like this drawing so much in fact that I have made it the background for my website after I finally committed to redesigning it!

July

July is an important month for amateurish internet artists like myself, it’s the month during which Art Fight takes place. And this year I beat my record for submissions during the event, at an astounding... five.

And I believe this is my absolute fave submission for this year’s Art Fight, featuring @wytchwoods​‘ character, Maggie. It is certainly the most experimental, at least, and I’m happy with the result.

Of course, this was also the month I smooched @floralope​.

I also took a commission this month. So THAT was definitely one of my most productive months this year.

August

My month. I didn’t really do much, but I started drawing Kett with shinier eyes. I simply started to like the look.

September

Wasn’t a very good month for full colored drawings, but I did sketch a bunch, with a particular focus on Teal.

I love my little four-eared creature. I want to make a game that stars them. Hopefully I’ll be able to.

For now, they’re just a cute design.

October

🎃🎃🎃 SPOOKY MONTH 🎃🎃🎃

I am usually not passionate about Halloween at all, but I felt like I had to try something new this year. So I designed Ghost Kett!

I am REALLY happy with how they turned out, so much so I did PLENTY of doodles of them over October.

They do not care much about your privacy, but they’ll ask before possessing you.

November

Was a HUGE month for me

It’s when the Total Fluff Eclipse struck.

I also.

Cried like a little bitch soft boy.

It’s good for you!

December

Oh hey, it’s December right now. The year is almost over. I don’t know if I’ll still draw anything this year, but I know what I have already done.

And honestly? Pretty satisfied with it. I haven’t done such painterly work in a few years but this blows any such work I have done out of the water. Probably the best thing I put out this year.

Hopefully much more to come in 2023.

I’d like to believe my output has taken a hit ever since I started working. Taking a good look at it, however, it’s easy to see that’s not the case. I have drawn a lot and put out work I am satisfied with. I have been a little harder on myself than I should.

My mood has definitely skyrocketed over the end of the year for whatever reason, and it shows through with my latest piece. I tried to go past the comfort zone I dug myself into and got something I’m proud of off of it.

If you’re still reading through, thanks a bunch for sticking around! I hope you’ll continue checking in on whatever I put out over the coming year, and I hope I’ll continue drawing and sharing it for the foreseeable future.

It was definitely fun taking a brief look over some of what I’ve done, maybe you should do the same? ;)

like they’re both riftwalkers right? so what if they started dating while they were beginning training but as alz’ein rose through the ranks (ultimately becoming leader) she broke it off bc power imbalance (i think they say veyla has an affinity for fire magic which is why wargoth possesses her, so she’s alternating riftwalker stuff and learning to hone her magic which is why she doesn’t increase rank at the speed alz’ein did) but then wargoth returns and veyla and the riftwalkers are holding him off when she gets possessed, al’zein has her moment in the latest quest (bc she never stopped loving her) then book two stuff happens, we rescue veyla from wargoth as well as xan, but the whole ordeal has taken a massive toll on her so she remains in atrea to heal, alz’ein visits her often and bam, they get back together and aaaaaaaaaaaaaa i'm going feral over them

#IlvalianIsAtrea explained: Why one stop on Jacques and Vivi’s Maritrean tour is causing controversy in Atrea

GRANITE FALLS - Prince Jacques and Vivienne Meijer were met with jeers and boos in Atrea following their controversial visit to neighboring Ilvalian. On 11 May, the Duke and Duchess of Laye made their first tour stop in Ilvalian, attending the opening performance of the Granite Falls Philharmoic with Aveil Valeth, who reigned as the last queen of Ilvalian prior to its incorporation into the Atrean Empire.

Within Atrea, the Layes’ Ilvalian tour stop was met with widespread outrage. Hunter Blakely blasted the Duke and Duchess for ‘legitimizing’  an ‘insurgent separatist group within the Ilvalian region.’ Clips from the news show were widely circulated on social media under the hashtag #IlvalianIsAtrea, which quickly became a trending topic within Atrea. In addition, two members of parliament moved to add the Layes’ controversial tour stop to the parliamentary agenda, calling for “an open discussion of Armorican interference” within the Ilvalian region.

Despite the controversy, the Layes’ tour is scheduled to go ahead as planned. The Duke and Duchess have not announced any changes to their itinerary, and their press team did not respond to ANN’s request for comment.

As a parent... I 10000% understand Kratos and the shit he's feeling... but on the other hand? As an adult who had once been a child under the thumb of controlling / protective parents and feeling like I don't know who I am (I never knew my bio dad's side of myself) .... I understand Atreas as well. It's quite the spot to be in.

What language do the characters in your country speak, and are there any other languages that your characters interact with?

Well hello, thanks for the question. <3

My isles do have their own local language, called Sorori. There used to be a wide range of related dialects, especially in Apricus because of the mountains and hillsides there causing more separation between people groups. The wide acceptance of mass media has really changed this though. The first radio shows came out of Fiedeli in the form of Temple broadcasts so most people conform to the dialect that was most commonly spoken there. That being said there are occasional differences in common words between people groups, like Viridi call their grandparents "Nani" and "Non" whereas in Apricus they prefer the terms "Granmata" or "Granpata."

As for other languages, most of the upper class can speak Simlish, the "Simerican" style because the set of International Schools that specialize in teaching it were founded in the name of former Prince Bastian's beloved wife Princess Daphne, who was a Simerican waitress he met while snowboarding abroad.

The isles also have a very strong historical connection to the Kingdom of Atrea and with its sister country Sulani in particular. Even in modern times it's not uncommon for members of both countries to intermarry so many of the multilingual households in the isles speak Sorori or Atrean dialects as their main language.

Beyond that it just kind of depends on the family and what individual connections they may have to the continental powers. A lot of the Northeastern lords have Simovian origins and kind of pretentiously keep the language alive within their families.
