ease into it (pt. 5) - wanda maximoff

a/n: so i’ve finally graduated high school! which means i’m definitely gonna write more since i don’t have anything to do atm. i also made this playlist (it’s for my script, but i i use it while writing this as well) for this if anyone wanted to listen

Story Masterlist

Wanda had no idea why she was at school past the final bell, let alone on a weekend. She wouldn’t admit that she tagged along because she suddenly remembered you were a team captain.

No. Natasha wanted to stare, specifically at Carol Danvers and Maria Hill, who were on the opposite team. Emma was there because Scott was there, and Jean and Pietro were at his house alone. Vision was home due to an ankle injury that had him out for a week.

The girls sat in the parking lot while Nat was on the opposite teams sideline, flirting with a certain tall blonde. Tired of waiting, they walked over and stood by the gate as Wanda wrapped her lips around a loose cigarette. She blew out smoke as you stood at the pitch.

Emma and Scott walked to the bleachers, leaving her alone, not that she really minded it.

Her eyes wondered over to Peter on the sideline, taking pictures, probably for the school website. The whistle blew, and you kicked it out to Kate. Wanda had no idea what was going on, but she did know that when Carol tackled you hard, it wasn’t a good thing.

Carol smirked at your groaning figure as you landed hard on your shoulder. “Man, what the fuck?!” Kate yells, getting in Carol’s face. “Sorry.” She mocks, shrugging. You were lifted up, pulling Kate away before she did something she would regret.

Right after, you scored a goal on Carol, making her grimace as you and Kate did your signature handshake and dance.

The score was now 2-0.

There was six minutes left when Brunnhilde ‘accidentally’ hit Karolina in the nose with the ball. It seemed like St. Valkyries was full of bullies. You sighed walking the bench as halftime was called.

“Chavez!” The freshman looked up from the ground. “You’re in.” She pointed to herself, and Fury nodded while the older players snickered at her. “Come on! I don’t got all day.” The girl shoots up from the bench, giving a nervous look to her other friends.

You clear your throat. “Ok, we’re gonna shift, so Daisy will take over Dean at front center, Chavez will be a defender, okay?” The girl nods as the whistle blows. The game went on, and Carol, being the asshole she was found a way to push America on the ground.

You and Kate were tired of her. America seemed to be fine, and despite wanting to punch Carol, you wanted to stay civil. And so you did. After an attempt, you tried to score again, but missed. You fell off balance, running behind the goal, but your running stopped when you saw Wanda, now with a Sprite bottle in her hand, her hair pulled back in a messy ponytail.

A weird feeling came over you as you waved at her, and she surprisingly waved back. What you hadn’t known was when Wanda went to get herself a drink and some shockingly good nachos, she spotted Jennifer flirting under the bleachers with Frank Castle, who didn’t particularly seemed interested, but was playing along.

She didn’t think it was her business to tell, and she didn’t want you to think she was playing a cruel trick on you as she had before. Like that time she complemented your suit for the 8th grade formal, and then embarrassed you on Instagram the next day. She didn’t want to be that anymore.

She smiles, watching you run back to the field. The game doesn’t end much longer after that. After another aggressive tackle, Carol is finally benched, and you and Kate carried your team to a win.

The team left you as you did an interview for the school’s news network, but not long after, you were drenched in water from the cooler, and you fell to your knees at the sensation. Wanda watched in amusement, not noticing Natasha leaving with Carol in her Jeep, and the fact that Emma and Scott left half an hour ago without telling her.

“Shit!” She walked around the parking lot, even calling Vision because Pietro wouldn’t answer. “I’m sorry, darling, I’m not even in-I’m not even in town at the moment.” She sighs, muttering appreciation for even picking up. A beep startles her as the car she was standing by beeped.

She was too shocked by the sound, that she didn’t notice you approaching. “Are you sure you’re not waiting for me this time?” The question startles her. She turns, sighing at your playful tone. “No. Um...I’m sorry for-My...” Friends wasn’t really a good word. “Emma and Nat...They-They left me here, my car is at home, so...” You nod.

You could give her a ride. Jennifer was nowhere to be found after halftime, and you weren’t doing anything because you needed to rest despite your friends’ protests. “Uh...I could give you a ride, I think I remember where you live.” You shrug. Her eyes widened at the offer. “Seriously?” She cleared her throat to not seem so desperate to say. “Um. I-I don’t see why not...?” You smile, moving past to open the passenger door.

“Ladies first.” She smiles back, sitting in the seat.

The ride was quiet, soft jazz you’d put on filling the silence.

“Ya know...” Wanda looks up from her hands on her lap. “The last time we were this cordial...I could barely reach the pedal.” You say with a bright smile which seemed to be contagious as one spread on her face as well. “Do you still play the flute?” You ask suddenly, making her giggle. “Yeah. I’m in Advanced Band. Very fun.” She says, still looking forward.

“Oh! That’s awesome, man. I don’t still play trombone, but I picked up guitar.” You smile, making her nod. “That’s nice.” As you reach a stoplight, you turn to her, giddy. “Did you like the game? I don’t know if I did good.” You were trying to resist wanting her approval, but you forgot that you were trying to ignore her.

Talking to her like this felt like when you were just kids gossiping again. “Yeah! You were awesome. MVP of the night, even.” She exaggerates, but you not telling if she was joking, which she wasn’t, nod with a smile on your face. “Thanks.” There was a small bit of silence.

“Do you still write songs?” These questions were throwing her off guard after the silent treatment she’d gotten for the past month. “Not really...”

“Why not?! You know my friend, Peter, he plays drums, and-and Bucky plays bass. You should totally make a band. Plus you can sing!” You suggest, making her laugh. “Oh, I don’t know...” You pull up to her street, turning into her community.

“I forgot how fancy this place is.” You ride up to the gate, and wave to the guard. “Hi.” The man narrows his eyes, but Wanda leans beside you. “Hey, Jerry.” She waves, and the man lets you in. This community was actually very few houses, and more like divided property for about five or six properties for families. There were lakes, some properties had other houses, and sports courts.

You and your family lived in an a bungalow on the rougher side of town. You’d finally gotten to her house, and noticed her father, Erik and the dean, Charles outside, smoking cigars it seemed like. “Thank you for the ride.” She says, taking you out of your staring at the men.

“Yeah, no problem.” She almost leaned forward and gave you a thank you hug, but she decided against it. “I’ll see you Monday.”

When you’d gotten home, you saw Jennifer on your porch, talking to your mom who was taking two mugs, and walking into the house. You parked, walking up the driveway. “Where were you?” She asked roughly, making you frown.

“I could ask the same. I was dropping off a friend.” Friend. You hadn’t even meant to refer to Wanda as such, but it slipped out. “So Wanda is your friend now?” Your jaw clenches at her tone. “Are you jealous?” You chuckle.

“You think this shit is funny? I was calling you for half an hour, Y/N. But I guess you were so enamored in Wanda’s red hair, and soft green eyes, that you couldn’t even answer your girlfriend’s calls, hmm?” You scoff. Your phone died when you left, and you’d given your charger chord to Kate, but of course she never returned things, so you turned on some old soundtrack CDs you’d left in your car.

“My phone died, okay? I’m sorry.” She scoffs, brushing past you. “When you figure out how you actually feel, give me a call.”

“You’re being dramatic, nothing new of course.”

“Fuck you, Y/N.”

So I’ve been thinking of the EarthSpark children’s books again.

Besides the Guidebook, these two seem to be the only ones out atm that are original stories and not recaps/adaptions of episodes of the cartoon. I personally prefer original stories set roughly during the cartoon’s universe, and to no one’s surprise I’m naturally a big fan of the RiD15 books being all original stories.

However, my nitpick with the EarthSpark books is they’re too short and … safe. There’s no real conflict or if there is one, like Racetrack Recon, it’s resolved instantly…

Now kids books or not, I think most of us want some kind villain for the Autobots to fight, which the RiD books excelled in. My favorites being Scuzzard from above, Liege Maximo starting trouble because he was bored and needed a cheap thrill, and Drift meeting up with his old Decepticon crew. So what can the EarthSpark books do?

Well for starters:

Use Swindle. He’s perfect for low scale conflict, and you can get a lot of mileage out of him starting trouble with a guest star that the Terrans have to stop. Obviously you could experiment with other villains besides him, but still.

Book idea 1: Items have been going missing from Witwicky. The culprits are Swindle and Chop Shop.

Besides trying to make a quick buck, they also seek to steal important GHOST tech to benefit the Decepticons still roaming the Earth. Dot and Optimus have to keep Croft and Schloder distracted so the Terrans can put a stop to Chop Shop’s kleptomania.

Book Idea 2: The Decepticons need energy if they plan to still take over Earth and stick it to Megatron and GHOST. Swindle, seeing an opportunity to make some moolah, gets Octane and RatBat to join him on a fuel syphoning scheme.

I feel like it’d be a Jawbreaker and Grimlock story as a gag on fossil fuel.

Book Idea 3: Revision of Recon where Swindle fixes the race using the RiD15 originated Stunticons. I already talked about this one.

Book Idea 4: Tarantulas runs afoul of an old lab partner, the insane Autobot scientist Flame.

(For a potential toy, I feel Flame would be a hybrid design of these two, taking more from the one on the right for ease of toy design.) Flame, fed up with the humans treatment of Transformers, decides to release a Cyber-Virus bio weapon Tarantulas developed during the Great War, and use it to Cyber Form Earth into something more palatable. Tarantulas needs Nightshade, Wheeljack and Hashtag’s help in a race against the clock to defeat Flame’s mad ambitions. Akin to RiD15 Grimlock with Simacore, Nightshade gets their first arch rival in Flame.

Book Idea 5: Nightshade and Sam team up to take down crime in Philadelphia, playing up a bit of the superhero side to the owl. Playful parody of 60’s Batman, using Animated supervillains like Angry Archer and Nanosec.

The supervillains are part of a larger scheme by the Decepticon Malignus.

Of which Nightshade and Sam need to call in the rest of the “Teen Terrans” and Bumblebee to help deal with.

Book Idea 6: Optimus Prime’s trailer/Combat Deck starts malfunctioning and causing a rampage around town, causing a headache for GHOST and the Autobots.

It’s discovered the jailhouse Decepticons implanted a computer virus into the trailer via Bombshell’s Cerebro Shells to spite the Autobots. Twitch, Robbie and Hashtag have to jack in and defeat the computer virus within, Kremzeek, in a video game showdown while Jawbreaker, Mo, Thrash, Nightshade and Megatron try to contain the Combat Deck on the outside. There’s a fun visual of Roller effortlessly pulling the trailer around town in its rampage.

Book Idea 7: GHOST develop their own Navi program in TORQ III from studying Cybertronian technology and Teletraan 1.

A hybrid of the G1 episode, Marvel UK’s Raiders of the Last Ark, and TFP’s Flying Mind, TORQ finds GHOST inefficient and seeks to apprehend every remaining Decepticon on the planet with his own methods, regardless of the consequences to the Autobots, and humans like the Maltos. Optimus, Elita and Megatron have to stop TORQ and his mind controlled Decepticons from starting a new Machine War.

Book Idea 8: The elusive Mirage, based on the RotB version with his body being closer to RiD01 Mirage, returns and pays a visit to the Malto household to see what all the hubbub is.

Mirage, Robbie and Thrash become fast friends, and team up to put a stop to the latest scheme of Swindle’s. Battletrap, Transit and Scorponok are present as part of further RotB synergy.

Since you do play skyrim, I do have to ask you now who your favourite companion/extra carrying space person is, what guild you like the best, your preferred home, and the funniest glitch you’ve come across.

I’m sorry, I’m contractually obliged as someone who made an eldrich pact in order to find the non porn or dragon age crossover Skyrim fics.

Hmm okay

1. Vilkas, probably, because he looks like my husband and has a sexy voice and is a hot werewolf. However, I don't always use followers, because I like having full control of my sneaking and controlling them is a faff.

My husband is also playing atm, though, and his answer is Brelyna Maryon (is that her name?) She's the absolutely useless wizard in Winterhold - he turned up and she asked him to help with some spells and he said yes, and then her spells were useless. Terrible. The effect of one? His vision went green for a bit. He was immediately charmed, and took her with him. Worst mage in the game. Not even a good idea for him to take her, because they're both dark elf mages, too - but Steff was like "This woman can't do a single thing and I am delighted. She's coming with me."

2. Guild is difficult. I do like the Thieves Guild, but you're absolutely entrenched in the pocket of Maven Black-Briar, and I passionately and wholeheartedly loathe her. I wish I could just throw her corpse into Riften canal.

So maybe Companions. I think they're the only ones I don't have major objections to, plus they're hot werewolves. Always a bonus.

3. Preferred home is Breezehome for my daughter, because one of the first things I do in every single playthrough is adopt Sofie. It goes:

Escape Helgen

Go to Riverwood, get that claw back (get the Dragonstone and loads of sellable shit at the same time)

Go to Whiterun and talk to the Jarl

Kill the dragon

Become Thane and buy Breezehome

Kit out Breezehome with a child's bedroom

IMMEDIATELY run to Windhelm

Burst in through the city gates

Punch anyone in the way

Find Sofie and buy all of her flowers to make her smile

Listen to her devastating tale of woe

Ask her if she wants me to adopt her

Cry when she calls me Mama

Send her to Breezehome because Whiterun is the safest place in all of Skyrim for a child when considering dragons, civil wars, and Assorted Skyrim Assholes

Decide what the hell I'm now going to do with the game

I really like building houses too, though, which is how I now have Big Naked Dad in my garden. Amazingly, it's happened in Windstad Manor rather than Lakeview; I once tried to move Sofie into the latter but NEVER AGAIN

Uh, special shout outs to the prettiest homes, though, Vlindrel Hall is fucking gorgeous (like fuck will I ever let Sofie near Markarth tho) and the one in Solitude, love that one.

4. One of the guards in Riften in my current game keeps sitting on an invisible chair and eating in the middle of the street, outside the pub. Every time I see him he looks like he's doing some squats and having a picnic. Very charming.

HC / MUSE UNDERSTANDING FROM GAME MEGAPOST PART 1 OF 2.

Part 2 here. CBT1 info here.

Hi, this time here to talk to the concrete canon bits ( all of Sampo’s in-game stuff atm ) and how it attributes to my understanding of my muse and where some headcanons derive from. This going to be part 1 of 2 ??? posts. It got too long and idk how else to post it because if I have any other headcanon posts…. All this stuff would be used as the base layer for those posts, y’know ? Like everything else in my head would be not directly tied to an in-game thing whereas all of this is.

If information is largely hc or IS hc, it will be italicized in full. Some sections will honestly just refer to previous posts I’ve already made, minimizing the amount I’ll be typing up here. For this part, I’m going to attempt to go in chronological order of the story as it’s presented to us in the game, some jumping is necessary to draw points and tie a headcanon together though. Leaks may be indirectly referenced but I will not flat out state when I am incorporating such information. Better safe than sorry, if you care about leaks, then maybe avoid this because there won’t be any warnings… Because like I said, I’m not going to blatantly incorporate any of them.

MAN HIDING IN SNOW. Sampo knows he’s run into the group he’s meant to right from the beginning. Reasoning partially to do with the 4th wall break, him saying that the Trailblazers are more fun than expected. I’ll talk more on that later, but the main point is that he expected them on Jarilo. Maybe not exactly recognizing MC, but at least can gather that three outsiders not knowing anything about the planet are the people he’s looking for. He’s not stupid enough to believe that those three are Silvermane Guards, despite being like “oh you guys aren’t guards? Why didn’t you say so?” That’s just him playing his part.

In addition to this, fate seems to be part of how the Masked Fools views things and operates. Sampo, in this first meeting with him, says: “A meeting like this has to have been written in the stars.” Yeah, because it seems like he and perhaps other Masked Fools were perfectly aware of the situation on Jarilo and knew that the Astral Express would get caught up in it.

Sampo was supposedly hiding relics out in the snow plains. I believe that Sampo has hideouts, varying sizes, using run down and abandoned buildings in rather “dangerous” areas in order to tuck himself or goods away. Scattered throughout, so in the plains, in the city, Underworld too. This is kinda further reinforced by Lynx spotting sausage out by the building in the plains (as mentioned in her introduction). How else is he getting away with nearly four pounds of spices? He ain’t tucking that into his pocket or hauling it around unnecessarily.

I’m pretty sure the invisible snow walking technique can be attributed as a very small draw of power as an Emanator.

I SAY WHAT I MEAN AND I MEAN WHAT I SAY. Sampo seems to have been keeping tabs on the Trailblazers, either from their entry into the city or just a bit before their run in with Bronya. He says he was watching from the shadows, so hard to say. Regardless, it’s enough for him to intervene with smoke bombs that also seem to have no issue knocking everyone, but him, unconscious. True, since he knows the contents of his own bombs he could’ve built up immunity/taken something to counteract it and perhaps have a bit of help from a certain power of his.

As I’ve discussed in my CBT1 commentary, one thing that I am absolutely taking from it is the fact that Dan Heng has an entire discussion about how not a lot of poisons/toxins in the galaxy affect him, and convinces himself that he’s just overthinking the contents because we’re all new to Jarilo and stuff. If we take this information and pair it with Dan Heng’s pointed comments about how Sampo needed to knock us out to cover up a secret. Says there’s more to him than meets the eye. If Sampo’s an Emanator, then there’s really more to him than meets the eye. We get my next little headcanon: Sampo can make use of teleportation, small enough distances. This comes from his power as an Emanator. Because he carried multiple people, Bronya by mistake, through a dangerous path to get to the Underworld. He himself says that the initial path he used to get them down there is dangerous and risky and the path WAS NOT the Furnace Core.

I touched a little bit on Sampo’s dynamic with Natasha and other Wildfire members/Underworlders. The only other information I have to add here is that Natasha believes she sees right through Sampo. Sampo is at an advantage, his motives not exactly known but he’s helpful. Bouts of mischief are really the only thing to point towards blatant lies. There’s not much worth in figuring out that he’s lying about purposely causing brief fun though. Covers up anything else he might be doing on his own in abandoned parts… Like communicating with Masked Fools… Stuff as such… You get me?

In any case, much like Natasha says, Sampo’s troublemaking is never enough to get anyone killed… So that counts for something.

LAP DOG. Need to point out his insight on the Fight Club name he picks out for Dan Heng. Cold Dragon Young. I don’t believe DH’s clothing necessarily screams dragon… And it is very possible that Sampo might’ve asked for some assistance from him in coming up with a name on the spot. But considering that Sampo is aware of the Luofu and also aware that our next stop is the Luofu despite there never being an instance in which we would’ve made him specifically aware, it’s a bit sus. He might’ve had insight somehow, just as he had some insight on Belobog.

The way he talks about geomarrow, the underworld and overworld trade and such… It all sounds like stuff he’s recounting or telling as if he’s been told. Not first hand accounts. Dan Heng again pointed in bringing up that Sampo is the only thing that moves up and down, Sampo keeps asking him not to spread rumors. Yeah, I mean, posing it in that way only draws attention to him, but to what end? That’s only to be decided by the Astral Expres crew and not the people of Jarilo.

Seele conflating situations with Sampo is interesting, never really having evidence. It’s clear she doesn’t trust him, but regardless, he seems to cause trouble when it’s not expected or when it’s unnecessary for both the Underworld and Wildfire. Just to see where things go or how it plays out. Never enough to cause a lot of harm, but enough to rile people up.

Sampo implies that when asked a question correctly, he can answer it. If your muse asks my Sampo a question correctly, then he’ll give an answer closer to what you’re seeking.

There’s not much else to comment on for his relationship with Wildfire. He’s a contractor, a mercenary… Hired on for jobs when requested or when he seeks work. Mostly just about making money but also seems to fix whatever boredom might come. Very contented lap dog in that he’ll do whatever because he can afford to on this planet, money is money, Wildfire is consistent work.

BOSS SVAROG’S LAIR. One of my favorite things to point out here is when Sampo is guiding us around the vagrant camp, his personality peeks through, whether it's part of a facade or not is a bit difficult to tell… But I believe it’s the real guy, whatever is left beneath the mask.

He’s amused by March’s “open sesame” attempt, calling it “colorful”. The only suspicious thing about his use of this word is that he also uses it to describe his past in his eidolon activation voice line. Even so, he’s smiling behind her, his eyebrows in the same position they would be for

both the gentle and shy expressions, implying that there’s something genuine here.

Another neat thing is going through the certification process. Sampo’s confidence can’t help him if he doesn’t legitimately know the answer to something that does in fact need a real answer. He does end up saying he doesn’t know everything and then warns the group that people around here might deceive them. Interesting. Sampo, while not technically deceiving, happens to not have to disclose any information about himself during the Crew’s journey on Jarilo. At least not directly.

Anyways, when you get a question wrong Sampo doesn’t insult you nor does he make fun of you. Might be because he was humbled, but like for a Fool it could’ve been a brief moment for him to at least get a tiny laugh in. While he might find amusement in small things that are inherently funny and perhaps childish, making fun of someone’s intelligence in a more serious scenario doesn’t fit here for him.

He’s really not fond of the risk the group is taking by waltzing on up to Svarog. Thus, he splits again, seemingly in cowardice. However, we later see it is because he brought Natasha over as fast as he could. Difficult to say that the timing would’ve made sense since we had to help out Clara in between, but it is entirely plausible that he made use of his Emanator power to pull a few strings, short teleportation… Hmm.

GOING BACK TO THE SURFACE. Small part, circling back on the fact that the group will now follow Sampo through the Furnace Core. Like I said, DH suspects that he’s hiding something. Sampo more than likely had a trick up his sleeve like teleportation and perhaps some sort of strength because if you ask why you need Sampo as a guide, he says that the path of the Furnace Core has been blocked for over ten years and very few know how to get through. Which makes it sound dangerous if it’s closer to the vagrant camp to begin with. How does this rule out the other path? Sampo took a dangerous path while carrying a lot of people all at once? It doesn’t sound logical. So, everything points to him hiding some hidden power that is not visible to the naked eye that he had to utilize to transport everyone efficiently.

Sampo’s commentary on the Landaus (Gepard and Serval) occurs around this part. Serval I’ve already mentioned in this post here. To briefly reiterate, Sampo did something to piss Serval off after things built up on top of him turning more into a criminal that Gepard likely warned Serval, like “watch him” or “stop being friends with him” type of stuff. Yet, Sampo sounds like he was genuinely fond of her, likely the only person he might consider a real friend.

Here Sampo talks about how he doesn’t know Gepard too well despite “dealing with him the most”, mainly because he is a criminal. Though, based on his voice lines and how he talks about Serval, Gepard has always been hovering around him from the start. Their dynamic and relationship are superficial, but Serval being the person that would’ve led to one learning about the other prior to Sampo getting into real trouble. Asking Sampo more about him just leads him to exposing that outside/superficial opinion, which includes the fact that he’s handsome and going as far as to say that Gep’s lack of charm is charming. All of this could be for laughs, no one asked for the extra bits. Sampo is known for including fluff in what he says, he’s definitely making a jab at Gepard. I am of the shipping preference mindset when it comes to this phrase, but realistically, Sampo is saying this because he doesn’t have much to say about Gepard as he doesn’t really know him too well compared to Serval.

Reminder, Sampo doesn’t have it in for you. Though, I’d say this is because of the greater Masked Fools picture.

I DREAMED ABOUT SAMPO. I’ve partially discussed what occurs here in two posts.

First, Sampo’s ability to break the fourth wall is shared with Aha. For my purposes, this is going to be labeled as an Emanator power.

Second, Sampo saying that he lives by the quote “True happiness always entails the manifestation of the dignity of mankind”. I took a philosophical dive to come to the conclusion that Elation is not necessarily happiness, but Sampo through his own aesthetics tries to achieve happiness through embodying feeding into his own pursuit of Elation. If that at all makes sense.

It’s nice that he is now a confirmed Masked Fool because he, like the other Masked Fools in the game, love using their Elation related vocabulary and other not really subtle ways to suggest that they are Fools. Aka “performance”, “joy”, “curtain call”, shadowy comic relief”.

I believe he was speaking to Giovanni, given that we later see Giovanni after he confirms that the Astral Express crew are fun. Further supported by the fact that whoever he’s talking to in the scene mentions returning to Epsilon. What’s mildly concerning is that if this is Giovanni… he somehow was able to observe these interactions.

I’m about to bring in two different things that are not specific to Sampo to talk more to Sampo and Aha’s relationship. Really going to go into a weird one here. If this was in fact Aha rather than Giovanni, then it would make sense how Aha can observe what happened on Jarilo. Aha apparently is the one laughing in the Phantylia fight, meaning that they are observing the fight. Giovanni in Aetherium Wars brings up eyes watching. These Masked Fools seem to be aware of a greater presence with the ability to watch things unfold. If both Aeon and Emanator utilize their power to communicate in thought, meaning the dream truly is made up by the head… But instead of it being two-way, they then projected into the dream of the Trailblazer… This seems plausible to then allow Sampo to break the fourth wall of a video game, much like the one Aha recognized themselves to be in (SU).

now as for some general thoughts on the state of the game: - weapons i think are the best (overall, in meta): splash, bp, machine - weapons i think are the worst: default splat brella is easily the worst, snipewriter probably second - weapons i don’t really like fighting atm: nautilus, wiper - other notes: tainted by 4.0 thoughts already but 3.1 was a really solid place for the game to be in - not perfect but overall that was the perfect "era 1" of the game. defs glad they're not just keeping everything the same tho

- stages i think are the best: makomart, flounder, undertow - stages i think are the worst: easily scorch, then like a 3 way tie between eeltail, brinewater and mahi (layout wise aesthetically they're all cool) - thoughts on the new maps: um'ami middle si great and i love it aesthetically but lockouts on it are kind of awful. but that's just a general issue with this game in general at this point so. same with manta but especially it has a lot better qol changes and a better overall feel bc it's a s2 map so it has side areas, even if they aren't perfect lol - other notes: we really need a map overhaul but instead we are suffering LMAO -- the cover/pole update was not enough tbh but at least it was SOMETHING...

thoughts on the game as a whole / stuff in the future bc i combined these <3: - the idea we’re only getting 8 returning maps total is making me spiral currently (RETWEET) - that nintendo europe post saying side order is out in 2024... say sike right now it needs to come out in season 5 - the kit DESIGN feels a little better, but the number (including in season 4 bc i can't avoid talking about it) keeps decreasing and that's SCARY. we need 3 kits for every weapon in this game at a bare minimum at this point and we are barely going to get 2 at this rate jesus christ - we really do need a new ranked mode but challenges are so cute that i can excuse it for now - the maps situation genuinely scares me at this point like we are so out rn - still desperately want custom kits in privs at the end of the game’s life (RETWEET) - i think the amount of events is overall really good like there's a lot happening for the most part, but i do kind of think that some things (challenges, eggstra work) should be less Events and more salmon run-esque "mostly available" modes ... challenges in particular cuz i'm dying

thoughts on 4.0 except i've actually played it this time: - new maps aare both SO fun actually i really love them both - kit design has more braincells (FOR THE MOST PART... LOOKING AT YOU WIPER) but the general lack of lethal bombs or strong synergistic kits of 3 Good Options a la some of the earlier seasons does leave this one feeling kind of weird? esp with the glaring lack of chargers or stringers this season - inkopolis plaza is cool altho no new lobby or hotlantis >:( (RETWEET) -- also news for callie and marie, but at least they gave deep cut stage dialogue again that's nice - 4.0 honestly is a good direction to be heading in, but i do worry about how it's going to shake out For Now. i think most of the changes were really good overall tho - where tf are the facial pattern things nintendo - new salmon map is great but also all the sr maps in this game have one (1) visual aesthetic idea and i kinda hate it. they feel like they were made in a stock level editor kinda and i don't like it. also we need more returning maps like all of them right now

gonna put out my honest thoughts about my current progress in fire emblem engage bc i need to talk about how silly this game is

i’m only at chapter 7-8 btw and i’ve already spoiled myself half of the plot

i couldn’t choose between f!alear or m!alear bc their designs were.. something. i chose f!alear for my first run since i did the “same ingame gender as irl gender” thing (and it was an entire tradition for me at some point).

didn’t even reach chapter 6 and f!alear’s design was too much for me. i liked seeing her in a ponytail tho but i was not gonne be patient enough to change her class JUST for the ponytail. like girlie ik ur the divine dragon n shit but atleast try to not get your long ass hair pulled midway in battle.

and wtf is your armor??? you have individual boob cups for what?? your entire outfit does not look an ounce comfortable and yet you still slept in that shit. the short ass skirt too?? the stocking things??? there are like 10 design atrocities and i could even name more (and that’s just on a scale of practicality)

made a new save file and chose m!alear bc i was getting tired of f!alear’s entire armor outfit. ngl i preferred playing as m!alear bc he felt a lot more comfortable playing as an mc. but his entire victorian child fit wasn’t the best but it was more practical than the boob cups.

still mad there’s no unisex mcs.

anyways the prologue was kinda funny. our ass just wakes up and suddenly the world is in shambles bc some salty ass kingdom made sombron become the second coming of jesus christ.

queen lumera only had like.. 2 seconds of screentime until the ultimate mentor/parent death trope scene bc dead parental figures are a must for fire emblem mcs (unless ur sigurd and become the dead parent)

the firene siblings appeared. albert is precious and céline is lowkey on thin ice because of that damned outfit. like maybe wear something more practical in battle other than easy hair pulling and frilly dress?? (i know i can change her class but i’m a lazy bum). im still currently trying to know my way around albert’s skill set but he’s a good unit atm.

the twins are splendid little creatures. clanne got too many mvps and is still on the mvp streak ever since i paired him with celica (i abused warp ragnarok too many times). framme is just there for moral support and actual healing support.

vander’s lvl 1 grandpa ass was actually doing decent damage comapred to lvl 6 alear. you don’t know how many times vander had to come in clutch when alear was 3 hp away from evaporating.

i paired albert w/ sigurd and clanne w/ celica. that shit was game changing. i revoked céline’s emblem privileges for no reason. i just gave celica to clanne since he technically did more damage. he is like low tier but he’s my biggest carry atm. how the turns have tabled.

i changed alcryst’s class to tireur d’élite the second i got his lvl 10 ass. i’m pretty sure he might be my strongest unit atm (lvl wise).

idk who i should pair micaiah with so i just let her stay with yunaka. i never rlly used micaiah’s abilities for healing but i only used her to widen yunaka’s range w/ magic if she needed to chip in some damage to an enemy.

i always get tired at like the 7th turn in every battle and I just abuse celica’s warp ragnarok to beat up that one enemy to win the battle. somehow clanne still deals big damage w/o the engage boosts.

listen i have no clue what they fed the stewards but i am now afraid of them with my every being.

jean and anna r just there. jean doesn’t do shit bc i alr have framme. ik that jean might be decently better than framme but i don’t want his lvl 1 ass dying every single time. anna is a pretty good backup for chain attacks actually. but everytime i see her i get reminded of her commander version from heroes (bc it was my first fe game)

i spent the good majority of my bond fragments on arena emblem bonds w/ my current lineup bc i gotta get those big boi skills n shit. i also watched my units kill each other bc ig that’s a thing now. (i witnessed alcryst beat the shit out of céline)

still waiting on the day i get lucina’s emblem. i want to witness a gang fight.

outside of all the cutscenes, the game has the animation budget of 2 dollars.

How did you come up with everyone’s names? I see a lot of them are Japanese in origin?

That’s a very interesting question actually!!

So, specifically the Okutama crew are from Japan. I’ve been doing a plotline with them so that’s why most of the names on the blog are Japanese atm. Lol.

My characters names come from, all sorts of places. But I’ll just talk about Okutama specifically because it’s very interesting to me.

Most of My Okutama characters Date back to around.. 2015? 2016? Somewhere around there? They originally were fan characters for a VERY problematic game which I shall not mention. In fact, I use to run the most popular role playing group FOR that game on deviantart. It was a very weird time.

(Also warning, I am learning Japanese- but like.. I’m essentially a -1 year old while speaking in Japanese. So bare with me-)

Are Yoru- Are was the first character I ever made for this fandom, She originally was a self insert because the game allowed you to customize your MC and I essentially made a weird murdery version of me. Their original name was: アレクシス (Arekushisu) よる (Yoru), Which was essentially a very badly google translated version of my dead name, and the word Night (because she was edgy you see), Her name is now just Are because 99.9% of the time back then we called them アレ-ちゃん (Are-Chan). (And also the connection to my dead name made me feel weird lol and the connection to ME made me feel weird as well). Are is probably the most incomprehensible name in actual Japanese.. cause アレ is not, a name. But she has been called Are for so long I can’t imagine calling them anything else.

Yukai Mori (Yukai Hayashi)- Yukai was the second character I made, I’m like 99% sure. She was the first OC I posted to the roleplay group. She hasn’t changed much over the years, besides just, generally making her more realistic. I don’t remember the exact origin of ユカイ林 (Yukai Hayashi). I remember wanting to give her a very unassuming name, so knowing like 11 year old me I might have just been like “Popular Japanese Names 2016” or whatever. Her new last name 森 (Mori) however comes from the word Forest. Hayashi means Woods. You can tell cause both kanji look like groups of trees 林森 . It was a subtle way to make her distance herself from her family while also still being connected to it. Her nickname is Kai-Chan! Or カイ-ちゃん

Chie Hayashi (チエ林)- Chie’s origin is Actually really cute! She’s named after my Moms college roommate. I made her because Yukai originally had like- 12 sisters or something? But that’s shrunk down to 2- because jfc.

Kyandi Amai- Kyandi is very easy to.. figure out. she’s a person made of candy.. so.. キャンぢ甘い (Kyandi Amai), She canonically named herself, cause I don’t think her mom would.. just name her candy baby.. candy.. She’s named after the borrowed English word for Candy, vs the word Ame (あめ), Amai however does mean sweet.

Ai Amai- Kyandis Mom, She’s a witch who accidentally turned a piece of candy alive. 愛甘い (Ai Amai) her name is ALSO a pun. Ai means love, therefore her name would essentially be Love Sweets or I love Sweets.

Hana Seta (花瀬田)- HANA! my beloved! She was the first one in my second generation of Okutama OCs. Where I shifted from roleplay groups to solely roleplaying with my friend Morgan. Hana was originally created as a mascot for Instagram, but solely shifted into a wackier character. I don’t remember Hana’s name meaning anything in particular. Her name means Flower and her last name means essentially rice farmer.

Kagayaki Tekikya (輝き滴下)- Originally based on J.D from Heathers.. which.. is an incredibly funny fact when you look at the character now. His last name is based on Tekiya which are the predecessors to the Yakuza. Over the years the extra K was added in and, I just cant spell it any other way. I don’t think that Kagayaki itself tho had a specific origin for me, though it does mean shiny. His nickname is Kaga-Kun or かが-くん, He can also go by 빛나는 테키키아 , Which is what his mother use to call him in her native language (Korean), he doesn’t often go by this though.

Keh Spo (ケースポ): So in Japan, normally before you get to know someone you would say their last name first, like for example Doe John instead of John Doe. So Keh’s name is Spo Keh… cause.. he’s spooky… and a ghost hunter.. thats it thats all there is too it.

Makai Mori (魔界森): The last of the Hayashi Sisters. Makai essentially means hell or evil. Her name was not given to her by the Hayashi family, it was more of a nickname given to her before she got adopted. Makai’s demon name or True name is Beelzebub, She was named after the real Beelzebub due to her being a glutton demon and also due to her carnivorous nature attracting flies. Demons have two names, due to havinf a demons true name means having power over that demon. She also has a tendency to be called a Hellion but in a very literal sense.

Evey Aiki (イービーあいき): Aiki is a word for love. Which relates to Evey’s um… obsessive tendencies.. However I believe I chose the name Evey just because it sounded pretty. Its not a Japanese name but it is a Latin one apparently! And it means life! Which is… ironic… considering its um.. Evey..

Uru Nanamo (ウルナナモ): I do not fully remember why I named Uru this, and the translation of his name doesn’t give me much clues. However her name means to possess and budding flowers. Due to him being adopted allot, she has a few other last names as well. 朝原 (Asahara which means Field) (たなか, Tanaka, which… also means field..). He is also called Onee-Uru or Big Sister Uru. As a term of endearment by Atsu.

Atsu Kaigan (アツ海岸): I also do not fully remember where Atsu’s name comes from exactly. BUT: It means Twin Coast!

Yuki Sho (雪翔): I wanted Yuki and Mizuki’s names to rhyme some what because they’re twins. Yuki means snow, and Sho means Royal essentially? I chose Sho because it comes from the Ryukyuan kingdoms Royal family.

Mizuki Sho (ミズキ翔): Mizuki’s name is based on a flowering tree! So he is based on spring vs Yuki who is based on Winter.. They both have a yin yang sort of thing about them. Mizuki is normally a feminine name but it is sometimes used as a male name.

TW: Because some of my characters are from the past, there are some darker themes in the story. Nothing below here goes into detail however i will explain the basic description of certain things.

Specific TWs: Child Abuse, Prositution, Historical Sexism, Just Yknow general stuff you’d find in the 1400s unfortunately.

Some Titles my Characters Have:

Yukai: Former Wakagashira of The Hayashis. Essentially what that means is that Yukai use to be the second highest ranking in her family and would handle allot of the different jobs and what not and organize things. (Side note, The Hayashis would be essentially a small town mafia. So- yknow. They would have different rules than your most popular Yakuza organization.. so just suspend your disbelief a little that there’s,, high ranking women in this mafia... cause thats not accurate irl—-)

Are: HOLY SHIT SHE HAS SO MANY TITLES. Okay. So. In order of which she got them.

Kamuro (A child courtesan who was being trained by an Oiran (a high ranking prostitute) They would be in charge of running errands and getting food for their Big Sister/Oiran)

Oiran (A high ranking Prositute, who was trained to do performance art, like tea ceremonies, dancing, music, etc.)

Maiko (A young girl who is training to be a Geisha.)

Geisha (A Entertainer which specializes in the performing arts, Mostly singing and dancing)

Maid (Low Ranking Servant, mostly does chores and cooking)

Otoshiyori (Personal Servant/Assistant to the Emperor and his Wife, the Empress)

Sokushitsu (Concubine)

Kikoe-Ogimi (Grand Royal Priestess)

Myobu (High Ranking Kitsune)

Chie: Current Oyabun of the Hayashi’s, Basically the leader of the Hayashi Family mafia due to her parents dying.

Hana: Hime Hana, Princess Consort of Hell. because she’s currently the wife of Lucy Ferr, one of the princesses of hell, she has a Royal title specifically only in hell. (It’s a Long Story). There are more common terms for princess than Hime, but due to Hana’s kinda old fashioned style she would probably use Hime. She also does not have the title “Her Imperial Highness” due to her not being in a ruling position in Japan.

Former Wakagashira of The Tekikya Family.

Maiko (Geisha and Maiko is traditionally a only female practice, however, considering theres literally portals to hell in town, most people don’t care in this universe-)

Jenn-Chan, Onee-Jenn (Full Name: Jenn-Da-Benn, or Big Sister Jenn. This is Kagayaki’s drag queen persona, Her style is mixing together modern j-fashion and traditional clothing such as Kimonos and what not. Known for accidentally shattering a window with one of her heels)

Keh:

Itako (A Blind spirit medium)

Miko (A Shrine Maiden in Shintoism)

(Both of these terms tend to be female only, but gender is fucky in this universe so-)

Yokai (This is a self proclaimed title, He also sometimes calls themself a protector of Yokai)

Ai:

Grand Witch of Okutama (Shes a very powerful witch lol)

The Original Onna Musha (Onna Musha is a term to refer to Female warriors normally alongside Samurai, due to Ai being old as dirt and also being a very powerful Warrior she is often called this)

Makai: Former Shateigashira of the Hayashis

Uru: Kami no Okurimono (Gift of Gods, A title given to him from his first family. Who was yknow.. a cult..)

Atsu: Hogo-Sha no Kami (Protector of Gods)

Waremechan (Essentially means Cunt-Chan. A very offensive title given to her after she died)

Houseguest Rankings Update

So a lot has happened since last week, meaning my personal houseguest rankings are still changing. This time around I’m include the ranks, explanations, and comparison with my previous rankings from last week. I’m also not including evicted houseguests, so Paloma is out of the list.

1. Taylor (Prev 1) - I still feel obligated to put her up here because the hate hasn’t and probably never will stop, also she has shown herself to be even cooler and more strategic recently. Although she has a questionable taste in men, I can’t hate her for that and it’s doing her good sooooooo I think that’s a win.

2. Michael (Prev 4)- He moved up tremendously because he’s a veto king and he’s doing a great fucking job strategy wise. He wants to work with the underdogs which I love and his energy is just impeccable. If Taylor wasn’t being hated so much he would be my number one fr.

3. Indy (Prev 5)- She is iconic, and she is the moment. Calling out ignorance, promoting comfortable and sexy women, and she’s just.....genuinely funny? The only reason she isn’t higher is because she doesn’t do much gameplay but damn she calls out all the assholes in the house and I’m here for it.

4. Brittany (Prev 2)- I do still love Brittany don’t get me wrong, but her gameplay is a little messy. Her going to Pooch last week? Girl, that was such a big mistake. She runs around a lot with info and that’s pretty scary to do in this game. If she just shut up though she has a lot going for her bc she’s super strategic and smart.

5. Nicole (Prev 3)- I honestly don’t know why she was at #3 last week, but maybe the others were just pissing me off more atm? She’s still one of the better players imo and I like that she’s actually playing the damn game instead of letting personal feelings get in the way, but she is still aligned with ugly people and some of her views are super skewed bc of it.

6. Ameerah (Prev 12)- I moved her up a bunch because she is one of the main female forces in this game and she is playing super hard against the guys and I’m here for it. I knew my MD rep wouldn’t flop even if she is a total bitch, but homegirl is still on the shit list bc of the things she has said about Taylor and the people she aligns with.

7. Kyle (Prev 11)- I admittedly don’t mind this guy. I refuse to put him super high bc he is still a garbage trumpie and annoying tiktoker but so far his gameplay has been solid and I think he is aligning with the right people. If he is an asset to Taylor and Michael he’s good in my book idc.

8. Alyssa (Prev 6)- She’s still super irrelevant, so she only moved down bc others moved up. Also her whole crush on Kyle is annoying af.

9. Turner (Prev 7)- He’s still irrelevant and I never see this man talk game or really anything to anyone. All I know is that he needs to shower and that he’s aligned with poopy pooch.

10. Joseph (Prev 8)- He continues to kind of be a dick, so that’s why he’s down lower this time, but out of the people I can’t stand currently in the house he is by far not the worst. I do feel bad that Pooch is all over him and making him uncomfortable, but that doesn’t take away the fact that he literally doesn’t fucking know how to play the game. He’s stupid and his gameplay sucks.

11. Daniel (Prev 10)- He didn’t move that much, but he’s going lower because of many weird and sexual remarks he’s made. He’s still trash and he needs to go, but at least he is trying to do some gameplay (even though Nicole is carrying tf out of him let’s be real). If he keeps Taylor though ig he can have one point.

12. Jasmine (Prev 14)- Look she’s only up higher because Pooch and Terrance suck more. Is it good that she’s working with the girls and actually doing what’s best for her game? Sure. However, I can’t get over how excruciatingly annoying she is and how much of a spoiled pos she is either. This woman only twisted her ankle yet has the entire house slaving for her, wiping her ass, feeding her, bringing her ice, etc. Then this bitch isn’t even grateful about it and calls the people she doesn’t like (Taylor) bitches and whores even after they try to be nice to her. This woman needs to seriously be humbled and I think a prejury boot would do just that.

13. Pooch (Prev 13)- Looks like he didn’t move, because homeboy hasn’t changed anything since last week. He’s still sexist garbage, he still thinks everyone loves him, and he probably wins the award for the stupidest fucking gameplay I have ever seen in my entire life. This man doesn’t even deserve to be here so byeeeeee.

14. Terrance (Prev 9)- I had to move this guy down so far because he talks about Taylor like she’s a child that needs discipline (he even used that word I think). What the fuck is his obsession over a woman about half his age? He thinks bc he’s 50 something that he can talk about younger women like that? Get the fuck out of here jfc I knew he was another Derek F.

15. Monte (Prev 16)- The only reason Terrance is above you is because he at least knows that Taylor is valuable to his game, whether he likes her or not. YOU however can’t see that, so like an idiot you go around saying shit and running your mouth. Monte better be the next target or I might lose it because I can’t stand seeing this moron play anymore. Also I’m not over the tweets I saw. He is clearly a garbage person with garbage gameplay and I don’t know why he was even let into the house to begin with.
