Science-fiction visual novel Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC via Steam this winter, publisher Astrolabe Games and developer Space Colony Studios announced. A demo is available now for consoles, joining the existing demo on PC.
Additionally, Astrolabe Games announced that it has partnered with PM Studios in North America and Meridiem Games in Europe to release physical editions of Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog for PlayStation 5 and Switch.

About
War is over. War is just beginning. Planetary Calendar 214. Four years have passed since the end of the Solar War. Our protagonist, scarred from the loss of his crewmates in the war, is re-assigned to the Jovian patrol ship Gun-Dog as it’s dispatched with orders to investigate mysterious signals coming from the edge of Jovian Space. Unknown to the Gun-Dog’s crew, a new danger looms deep in the ocean of stars, threatening not just the Gun-Dog but all her crew. Take on the role of the Gun-Dog’s security officer as you attempt to save the ship from an unknown assailant whilst navigating the paranoia, conspiracies and vendettas that break out amongst the crew. As camaraderie falls apart can you overcome the challenges that await?
The Story: A New Threat Emerges from the Void
Humans have long since freed themselves from the grasp of gravity, but they are still unable to escape the hold of war. It’s year 214 of the Planetary Calendar. Four years have passed since the end of the Solar War and an uneasy peace persists throughout the solar system. The Jovian patrol ship Gun-Dog is sent on a reconnaissance mission to investigate mysterious signals coming from the edge of Jovian space. What starts as a routine assignment quickly escalates into a battle for survival as an unknown threat terrorizes the crew.
The Gameplay: Investigate. Interact. Analyze. Advance.
Utilizing traditional point-and-click adventure mechanics, during your time on the Gun-Dog, you can navigate various locations on the ship, examine the details of the richly realized backgrounds or talk with the different crew members on board. You will need to listen closely to the characters’ words to reveal important clues or duplicitous intentions and keep your eyes peeled for key items and interactive elements in the backgrounds that you can use to advance the story.
The Place: Adventure in a Entirely Explorable Ship
The main stage of the first instalment in the Stories from Sol series, as the Jovian patrol ship Gun-Dog heads into deep space it serves as the setting for the game’s story. It has been exhaustively realized. Rich and evocative descriptions of the ship, including the constant rumble of the engine room, the bustle of the bridge, the silence of space pair with an extensive range of scenes that have been meticulously designed and animated in detail to deliver an immersive experience. Inspired by the best that anime has to offer the ship even features “Armored Frames,” mechanized, human shaped, weapons of war.
The Characters: Get on Board with the Crew of the Gun-Dog
All stories are about people and the cast of The Gun-Dog bring the story to life, so much so that their charm and charisma convinced the team at Astrolabe Games to board the Gun-Dog and sign up to be the publisher. From the elegant yet distant Captain Bartermews, to the bubbly Lieutenant Commander Cassandra Quinn, to the assertive and domineering Chief Mackenzie Cathays, The Gun-Dog features an extensive cast of characters for you to meet. Each crew member has a distinct personality, role and history. Get to know them and their quirks and decide whether to work with or against them to unravel the mystery that lies at the story’s heart.

I suspect this common source of confusion comes from the fact that the astrolabe is a far more recognizable name. But anytime you see a 3D representation of the sky and rotating rings, it is armillary sphere
The Latin term for “ring” is armilla. So, the armillary sphere is a sphere made up of rings

Fun lunar observations in Elden Ring:
There are two moons in the game. Normally, only one is visible in the northeast, but when visiting the Moonlight Altar, a second moon appears simultaneously to the north.

The northeast moon appears eclipsed by the Erdtree when viewed from Rennala's chamber or the Church of Vows.
In fact, a straight line can be drawn over the map that reveals that Rennala, the Church of Vows, the Erdtree (and therefore Radagon), the Forge of the Giants, and the northeast moon are all aligned.

Likewise, the north moon reveals an alignment of Ranni's Two Fingers, Rennala (or perhaps the Dark Moon Ring), and the Royal Moongazing Grounds at Caria Manor.
The stone astrolabe at the north side of the Cathedral of Manus Celes points directly toward this north moon. (Most of the stone astrolabes throughout the Lands Between reveal similar lore echoes.)

The northeast moon also aligns with Radahn's spawn point in Wailing Dunes and the impact crater from the meteor that falls after his defeat.
The way that the Erdtree eclipses the northeast moon resembles Radahn and Rykard's Great Runes—a sphere divided by a vertical line passing through the left side.

The northeast moon also connects the Divine Tower of Liurnia and the Carian Study Hall.

I'm always surprised so few people have noticed these details, given how heavily astrology plays into the world of Elden Ring. It also goes to show how meticulously the world map was planned if key characters, items, and locations were placed specifically to echo the lore.

Visual Novel ‘Shanghai Summer’ Gets Surprise Release on Switch With Free Demo

Astrolabe Games announced that the FUTU Studio-developed visual novel Shanghai Summer is available now on Nintendo Switch via the Switch eShop, with a free demo available. The game was initially released on PC via Steam on February 8, 2024.
Shanghai Summer is a visual novel set in the summer of 2003. It follows the story of the protagonist, Baichuan, as he experiences a series of “anomalies” over twelve days. The narrative unfolds in Shanghai, where Baichuan starts to sense something unusual about his life, triggered by an unexpected invitation from his long-absent ex-girlfriend, Qiuyu. This leads him into a journey through what feels like twelve lucid dreams, where time behaves anomalously around him.
The gameplay involves players collecting ‘Topics’ and ‘Clues’ from everyday interactions, allowing them to delve into the hearts and minds of key characters in Baichuan’s life. These interactions are not just about understanding others but also about drawing inspiration and comfort from them. The goal is to turn the small events in Baichuan’s life into strengths, culminating in the twelfth night’s finale, where he attempts to “fix” the shattered dream.
The cast of characters includes Fengyi, a dream-chasing freelancer artist; Xiaobo, a troubled high school student; Jingxian, a university student weighed down by family issues; and others. Each character, despite their complicated lives filled with regrets, strives to live to the fullest. The story unfolds in familiar settings like classrooms, a bookstore named “What-If,” and a neighborhood cafe. These everyday scenes of city life are depicted as places where mundane moments intersect with new possibilities, suggesting that the key to altering one’s destiny might be found in the most ordinary of places and interactions.
