One of my favorite parts of Welcome To Demon School Iruma Kun is that everyone gets a chance to shine not just the major character and it's not just one half of an episode or two episodes in the spotlight and then shoved back to the background. *Cough* Assassination Classroom *cough*. And you root for them and want to see them develop and become better because they feel real. Also in Assassination Classroom the whole school apart from the main class freaking sucked and we barely got to know any of them. Just that they hated the Class E and thought that they (the other classes) were the best and Class E was trash and scum. And not to mention the principal got that cop out backstory that made him actually WORSE IN HINDSIGHT BECAUSE ESSENTIALLY HE WAS SAYING THAT BECAUSE OF HIS FAVORITE STUDENTS TOOK THEIR OWN LIFE THAT THERE SHOULD BE ONE CLASS FULL OF STUDENTS WHO SHOULD JUST LAY DOWN AND DIE BECAUSE THEY'RE THE STAND INS FOR THE BULLIES THAT DROVE HIS FAVORITE STUDENT TO THE POINT OF NO RETURN. Like dude I get it it's sad that it happened but you're a monster. Also it was weird that he had his students' phone numbers and would personally call them.
Ikr I love how each character gets attention and no one is fogotten. Honestly assassination classroom was super bad at that. I can't even remember any details/personalities of the other students aside from karma, nigisa, kayano and Kuro-sensei.

For day 11 of the event, I used number 4 from prompt 5 for Ameri from Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun! I hope everyone enjoys, my lovelies 😊
Tumblr media
One getting home from work later than the other and stretching out on top of them like a big, lazy cat while they sit on the couch in front of the tv:
Your eyes scanned the last page of your book and you smiled as you finished the last sentence. You’d been stretched out on the couch, having a wonderfully relaxing day off. You set your finished book aside on the coffee table, your eyes going to the clock on the wall. You hadn’t realized just how late it had gotten and your eyes narrowed, your smile turning into a slight, worried frown. Ameri really should have been back from work by now and you wondered what was keeping her. You forced yourself to stay relaxed on the couch though. You remembered how much she hated it when you got super protective and forceful about it. She always said it felt a bit like you were patronizing her, as if you didn’t believe she could take care of herself. While she blushed when you did it, and blushed even harder as she admitted that it was nice that you cared so much about her, she had always insisted that you must learn to trust her and her capabilities.
Five minutes passed and you picked up your phone, checking for any messages from her and fiddling around in your mind with thoughts of calling her. At ten minutes, you’d navigated to and away from the new call screen about a million times. At fifteen, your body was aching from the effort of keeping it on the couch, from the effort it took you not to get up and go out looking for her. Your body hummed with tension. You didn’t mean to be overbearing, but you worried so much about your precious girlfriend. Ameri was, and had always been, right from your school days, someone who always took too much on herself, who always pushed herself to be the best and you had always been filled with fear that someday she might just push too far and leave you alone. The anxiety in the quiet of the house was already starting to eat away at your brain, your body insisting it needed to get up and run to find her even as you made it remain on the couch.
At eighteen minutes, the sound of the door opening and then shutting was a joyous sound. Your body started to relax the second you heard the click-clack of Ameri’s heels on the floor of your shared home, and the fog in your brain quieted when you saw her face. Even though Ameri looked displeased about something, the fact that she was home just made everything better in your world.
“What’s wrong, my love?” you asked her with a slight smile. “Tough day at work?”
“You could say that. I’m fine though,” Ameri replied, trying her best to fake a smile. You could always see through her though and you shook your head, smiling up at her while you sighed.
“You always were the worst liar,” you gently chided her before patting your chest. “Why don’t you come over here. Maybe cuddling and telling me all about your day might help you feel better.”
Though the frown didn’t entirely disappear off her lovely face, which you could see the slight blush on, you could see the slight hesitation and obvious excitement in Ameri’s eyes and the way her body language changed. After some hemming and hawing, some more insistence that she was fine, she was moving towards you anyway. It was always this way and in the moment Ameri straddled you on couch before shifting into a comfortable cuddling position, her half laying on you with her head on your chest, your limbs all tangled up together, words already starting to pour out of her, you could feel the last of the tension go out of both of your bodies. Yes, being home together always made things better.

For the Sake of a Smile--Chapter Six
Title: For the Sake of a Smile-- Chapter Six
Fandom: Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun!
Summary: Hell on earth was your motto for your job. Granted, you were pretty sure earth really was hell, considering the shit you had seen. And the fact your coworker was a child. Suzuki Iruma, in fact. A kid who’s life was decidedly worse than yours, but smiled despite everything.
And you’d do a lot for his smile. Including summoning a demon and signing your life away.
But as it turns out, hell (The Netherworld, actually) was a lot better than living on earth. Demons were more humane than a lot of humans you knew.
And Iruma’s smile wasn’t the only one that would change your life.
Short Five| AO3 | mairimashitai! Simps Discord
Sullivan was, surprisingly, a decent teacher. He was calm, patient, and able to explain things in a way you could understand when you asked questions.
"Algiz is a simple protection rune," he said as he drew the rune on the board, which looked rather like a 'Y'. "If you don't have time for a more elaborate sigil, it will suffice as a basic shield. But usually it will not withstand more than one attack at a time."
He then drew a rough-looking 'n'. "Uruz will boost your endurance and strength for a short time, depending on how much mana you put into it."
"I don't have any," you reminded him with a frown, pausing in your notes. Even though he had given you a few books on runes, most of the language assumed the reader knew the basics of magic, which you didn't. "That's why we're doing this."
There was a gleam in his eye as he leaned forward. "You have it, it's just much harder to control. Human's mana is much different than our own. While Demons can direct and shape our mana with a simple thought, humans mana simply is. It cannot be molded or transformed."
You waved your arms. "Then how am I supposed to use it?!"
"You will need to learn that yourself," Sullivan replied with a smile. "Now! The next rune you should know is Kaunan in case you need to attack!"
---
There were books stacked on the large wooden desk in your room, along with an assortment of paper and pens. You carefully traced the simple glyphs and sigils while focusing on the meaning behind them.
Magic was after all, mostly about intent and imagination.
There was no way to explain how you were doing it. Like…a new state of mind when you were creating the sigils that changed them from symbols into… magic. And then it was using a muscle you hadn't known existed, leaving you tired, shaky, and exhausted.
Your phone dinged, and you happily took the opportunity to take a break. You weren't the least surprised to see it was Balam; he was the only one to text you besides Iruma, and he was off with his friends. //How's studying going?//
//slowly. Though I've memorized a handful, using them is a different story. Now just a couple hundred left, and then merging them into more complicated patterns. -.-//
//Runes are one of the more complicated forms of magic// Balam agreed via text. //But Lord Sullivan is right. You need to know how to defend yourself.//
You sighed and rubbed your eyes, exhaustion catching up with you. He was right, as was Sullivan. If Walter Park hadn't proven that, then the chaos afterwards did as the Netherworld paparazzi went after Iruma - the 'Hero of Walter Park.'
You could still easily remember the throngs of reporters trying to break down the doors of the mansion. You were as powerless against them as you were against the magical beasts.
And while there were runes used to hide one's identity, that was too complicated for you. Besides, Iruma had nearly jumped at the chance to stay with his friends to 'hide'.
You pushed those thoughts aside as you leaned back in your chair, more focused on your phone. //Anyways, how are you? Ready for the next semester?//
//As much as I can be. Training on top of my usual work will be a challenge and not leave much time to myself.//
Your slight smile faded as you remembered him saying something previously about the special training he was being assigned. Apparently the Misfit’s had shown so much promise, Kalego convinced Sullivan they needed specialized training to push them to their true potential. Which, apparently, included the challenge of having the class reach Daleth, or Rank Four, before the end of the year.
Balam had either volunteered to be one of the special instructors, or Kalego had volunteered him for the position. You still weren't sure on that. But either way, it meant he was probably going to be too busy for the long conversations you enjoyed.
//I'll be sure to remember that, I don't want to add even more work for you.//
There was a pause as Balam typed for several seconds with brief pauses, making you curious as you waited for him to settle on a reply. Usually he was only like that when excited about some tidbit of information from your realm and couldn't figure out which question to ask first.
Finally, despite the wait, he answered with a short-ish sentence. //I enjoy talking with you. Please don't ever hesitate, even if I'm training.//
You bit your lip and smiled. // Well, if you insist. I do enjoy talking with you…//
Studying was quickly forgotten as the topic shifted to the birds you had been watching through the window when your eyes needed a break. Balam, it seemed, was all too happy to take a break from whatever he had been doing to tell you everything about the Strix, including an appetite for fresh blood.
---
The new semester started and with the Library now organized to your liking, you had started pet projects of creating study spaces in the grand hall that housed your department. Tables with straight chairs, or cushions gathered in small cubby-like spaces.  Places you would enjoy if you had been a student.
You were going to need projects like that along with your Rune studies to keep entertained the next few months. Last semester, the Misfit Class had seemed to live in the library near the end of the semester, which had kept it lively, to say the least. However, now they were all busy with their special tutors - including Iruma.
You were happy to see him so passionately determined once more to prove himself, though worried about some of the things he was doing as 'training.' Mostly they seemed like errands, though he was certain it was some sort of special training. You weren't so convinced.
The students you saw the most were now Sabnock and Asmodeus when you took the occasional side trip to visit Balam after school. The biology teacher had acquired one of the more cave-like classrooms in the depths of Babyls and was there with his two students every free moment.
“Is this, like, a normal demon thing?” You whispered as you watched the two teens spare against each other, looking both half dead, and exceedingly stubborn. “Have they really not gone home since you started training?”
“I admit, it’s not quite typical,” Balam answered, settling next to you on the cold stone floor and using a straw to sip at the tea you had brought from the kitchens. “But, from what I’ve heard from the other tutors, nothing is typical with the Misfits Class anyways. Like iron, they need to be strengthened and refined by intense fire.”
You glanced at him briefly. “... you know, you’re one of my closest friends, but I have to admit, I’m glad my dad doesn’t share the same teaching methods as you.”
Balam chuckled as his hand rubbed your back, right where the ache was located from constantly hunching over books. You fought back a hiss of pleasure as his thumb carefully dug into a knot. How did he always know where you needed to be massaged? “Runes and fighting are two very different subjects. You’re essentially learning a new language and a new way of thinking. Whereas with these two, I’m trying to refine their inherent skills." He paused, tilting his head slightly. "Speaking of inherent skills, how is Iruma doing?”
Everytime Balam had asked the question previously, Asmodus faltered in his sparring against Sabnock. His attention instantly would snap to the small table where you and Balam sat, and allow Sabnock an unfair advantage.
Today, he didn’t even seem to hear, which you mentally praised the young demon for. Even Balam glanced at Asmodus, and beamed when he realized the demon hadn't been distracted.
“Well, he said the other day he needs to figure out what kind of bow he wanted,” you finally answered. “Not a strong one, or one to protect, but a unique one to fulfill his goal -- whatever that means.”
“Well, the Barbatos family is known for their unique sharp-shooting abilities. Not many demons have the patience to become archers - but I’m sure Iruma is well suited to the task.”
“Patient, determined, persevering no matter what’s thrown at him? That sounds like my boy." You smiled fondly, recalling all the times you were near your wits end back on Earth, and he would determinedly help you out. "I never thought I’d see the day when he’d become ambitious as well, but here we are.”
“I am eager to see how the class as a whole does with the upcoming Harvest Festival.”
You smiled fondly, leaning into him a little more. “Me too, I overheard some students talking about it. It'll be fun to actually be a part of something for once.”
Balam froze. He… hadn’t even thought of that. All of Babyl’s faculty were expected to help out; between managing the collection stations, rescuing students, and dealing with the consequences of the students getting in over their head.
But you? In the forest? Magicless, powerless, in a forest filled with things that could easily kill a demon, let alone a human?
While Iruma had proven himself that he was anything but weak and powerless. Balam wasn’t confident about your own ability. If anything, he was convinced of the opposite after seeing you so tired after conjuring a few runes.
He leaned in closer so the students wouldn't overhear as he quietly asked “Are you sure that’s a wise idea?”
"I've been assigned to help tally points between the different teams. I'll be stuck at the main tent, and likely never stepping out." You tilted your head back and reached up to pat his mask reassuringly, though your positions made it slightly awkward. "I'll be safe, I promise."
Balam slumped with a sigh, wrapping his arms around your shoulders, pulling you close so he could rest his head on yours. "I don't mean to come off as overprotective. I just…"
"You know how… different I am," you finished for him, at ease in his embrace. "And you worry, like a good friend does."
Well, that was sort of true. But he mused if now was a good time to explain that demons didn't quite have 'friends' to worry over, and decided it probably wasn't. After all, he wasn't even certain how to label his feelings, so how could he explain that in concepts you would understand?
------
A few weeks later, and the harvest festival was a chaotic mess; one you were happy to stay out of… mostly.
The forest itself was overgrown, with the crowns of the trees so tightly knit together barely any light filtered through, giving it a gloomy foreboding aura. Despite the lack of light, the place was filled with various flora and fauna you had no names for, but knew they would love to kill you given the chance.
Needless to say, you were happy to stay in the main tent, working on cataloging everyone's points. It was mundane work, taking the tally sheets that the different stations turned in and updating the student’s records. But it was also vital, making you feel rather included for once.
It was also nice to be around the other staff more, many whom you had only seen in the halls maybe once or twice. Where your desk was situated, you were easily able to listen to Suzy and Dali’s commentary, and keep an ear out for updates regarding the Misfit class.
Their remarks on Iruma and Lied familiarizing themselves with the forest didn't surprise you too much. Iruma was rather skilled at surviving in the wild; there had been times he had left the factory for a week or two because his parents had decided gathering wild herbs and mushrooms were more ‘profitable’ than the fishery. So, oddly, you were less anxious about him camping in the foreboding forest than you were about him going to an amusement park for the day.
However, your worries settled on the fact that he and Lied were treating it like a relaxing camping trip, and had ended the first day with absolutely zero points.
You were near-fuming as you looked at the monitor set up near the buffet table, taking a break from the bookwork. You had kept an eye out for his name, and had started to wonder if maybe someone else was keeping his score in fear you would tamper with it, but the monitor confirmed your fears. Zero points. “I know patience and endurance is a major component,” you growled to yourself more than anything. “But for hell’s sake, Iruma! You can do better than this!”
“He may still catch up,” Balam offered as he appeared beside you, startling you slightly. How could he be so large and move so silently? “There are still three days left.”
You huffed and crossed your arms. “I know, but still…. Zero? Literally everyone else has at least a few hundred!”
“True, but only a few have adapted like him and Lied. Already a fifth of students have withdrawn, and that number will only rise through the night. I think that we could probably see nearly a quarter withdrawing by morning.”
You hadn’t realized it was that many, though you had known the majority of the teachers were out saving students who weren’t prepared before nightfall made the forest even more deadly. You were proud to see most of the Misfits had found a place to camp for the night, safe and secured with each team holding a couple thousand points each.
Well, nearly everyone was settled for the night, except two certain students.
“Az and Sabnock are still going pretty strong, and they already have over fifteen thousand points," you looked up at him and gave him a little conspiratorial smile as you nudged him lightly. "I bet you’re pretty proud.”
The change of topic made Balam smile rather bashfully under his mask, which you could tell just by the expression in his eyes as he looked away, scratching his neck as it turned pink. “A little,” he admitted. “Though, I’m disappointed Asmodeus reverted to using his evil cycle so early, but Sabnock pulled him out just as I instructed. Even if they don’t win, this event will strengthen their skills significantly. Honestly, this is an excellent opportunity to test their skills on the battlefield while still providing a controlled environment.”
He was totally proud of his students, and it made you smile as he continued to discuss the pros and cons of the events and his thoughts on his proteges’ progress. And honestly, you could've easily stayed there just sipping at tea while listening to him talk, except you noticed the pile on your make-shift desk was quickly continuing to grow while people came and went.
After a moment, Balam noticed your expression wilting as you stared past him, and looked to see the towering stack. His hand found yours, squeezing lightly to catch your attention. “I’ve kept you long enough, do you need help?”
Your smile returned, though looking more tired than anything. “Nah, it’s the only way I can contribute. Besides, I’m sure they could use your help out there with the students.”
He looked towards the chaos and sighed himself. “You’re right," he paused for a moment before almost shyly offering: "Perhaps we could enjoy some tea together afterwards? Once you're caught up and the chaos has settled?”
You felt your face warm as you nodded, “I’d love that.”
----
When someone dropped papers on your desk, you didn’t look up anymore. There was no time as you crunched away at the numbers, desperate to get a handle on the pile before morning broke and the students started their hunts once more.
However, when the delivery demon didn’t move, but cleared their throat, you finally looked up. Momonoki smiled, though there seemed something rather… mischievous about it. “How are you doing?”
“Uh, good?" Honestly, you were exhausted, and knew if you were extremely lucky, you might get a few hours of sleep before the morning came. But, you were more curious about why Momonoki was making conversation when you barely had said more than a word to the other teacher since you started. “Uh, how about yourself?”
“Oh, you know, same old, same old,” she waved before leaning closer, her smile growing even larger. “So, I heard a rumor from Raim that Lord Sullivan said that you and Balam are courting.”
Courting? Your mind blanked for a moment before frantically making the realization of what she was implying. Courting. Dating.
You and Balam. Dating.
"W-what?" You spluttered, your face becoming red-hot. "C-courting?"
"It's so cute!" She squeed, pressing her hands to her heart. "Granted, Balam is quite… odd. Okay, he's very odd, but still! A forbidden romance in the halls of Babyls!" She sighed almost dreamily, lost in her own inner world and oblivious to your growing plight. "The mysterious unranked daughter of the Great Lord Sullivan, returning with an unclaimed child to her father's home! And then the fearsome White Gargoyle of Babyls, who finally found someone to look past his flaws for the demon beneath. And then trying to keep their love hidden from society because they know how much everyone would disapprove of such a match! It's a love story fit for a novel!"
You couldn't even think of a response, just stare blankly as her words sunk in, your mind trying to reconcile her words with reality.
A forbidden romance. Unclaimed child. Disapproving society. Secret love.
You.
Balam.
Momonoki took your stunned silence for something radically different as she winked, a finger pressed to her lips. "Don't worry, your secret is safe with me! As long as you share the juicy details later, you lucky devil!"
You gaped as she left, still giggling to herself as she returned to the forest.
 Courting. Balam.
Yes, you could admit you had a crush on him. Hell, you’ve had one virtually since you first met him. But you had tempered the emotion, suppressing it. You were intent to just be happy as friends, because you were different species. There was no way he would be at all romantically interested in you! Not when he sometimes acted like you were some rare exotic creature he was studying.
And now there are rumors going around? Perpetuated by your own adopted family?!
You just wanted to find a hole and hide. The rumors were going to go around the school like wildfire, and how were you going to face him, or anyone, after that?

The Alef Part 2
“(This is my first fanfic for the series Mairimashita Iruma Kun. The manga and anime are S-tier and everything is super wholesome. About this Fanfic, I hope to make it as a Sullivan’s daughter reader insert/ Iruma’s mom insert, Iruma being adopted in his earlier years, and getting to meet the Teacher trio while they’re in Babyls (Opera, Kalego, and Balam).
As a first time writer, I thought the concept would be a fun challenge, staying in line with character archetype and canonical lore and plot, whilst putting a new take on headcanons from my favorite fanfics for Iruma-Kun. But, I also understand if (if anyone reads this at all) it’s not to anyone’s taste.
I’m still learning how to write “well” or how to tell stories, so this is very much a work in progress and what I hope will be a lot of fun to try out! TLDR: First fanfic, tips appreciated (including grammatical ones), my heart is soft and squishy pls don’t hurt me.

(Ah, before we get to the story, just wanted to mention that everything here is on the side story manga Kalego Gaiden (can be found anywhere it’s really cute and funny). That’s where I’ll get most of the plot to insert the reader aside from backgrounds/characteristics given to reader. It’s also where height and personality of young Kalego, Balam, and Opera (and anyone else that comes along) will be derived from. It’s an 11/10 story from an 11/10 series. Yis.
Shameless plug: if you want more info about reader’s bloodline magic, feel free to read the description in my other post “Return from Origins”)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
‘Hmm, powerful magic… and brute strength. What outstanding kids... and… hmm? Where’d they go?’
Opera briefly glanced around before noticing the third demon tip toeing for the door.
“Just a moment now…”
You felt your heart drop as you were lifted by the scruff of your uniform.
“I-I…”
“That was an interesting trick. Why’d you do it?”
You’re set down with the other two and you turn your head to look up at the top dog.
“I just… I thought if I did this… not-gang a favor, I could leave sooner… and eat, I’m hungry.”
“Hmm? You mean this?” He has your bento.
“Hey… c’mon now…”
Clearing his throat, “Ahem, you guys are interesting. Since one calls himself the guard dog, his will to protect this school aligns with my desire. I’m Opera, I would like you three to help me... or rather... I order you to.”
“WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU.” Came the fierce response to your right.
‘I just wanted to eat my lunch...’ Cries internally.
The silver haired demon could only sweat drop at the chaos.
~~~ Later ~~~
Ding Dong
You’re FREE! Finally! Now to go home, do your homework, eat more food, maybe a bit of house cleaning, and finally some peace and quie-
Ironically, fate would not leave you along as you trip over a certain avian demon.
‘Shit.’
Both of you could only groan, you from bashing your chin on the ground, and him from being kneed in the head.
“Oh. It’s you! Are you alright?” He asked.
“Y-yeah, sorry about that...”
“...”
“...”
“Well, see you around I guess...”
“Wait.”
‘Noooooo. Lemme leave, I’m sorry, Delkira have mercy.’
“Why’d you lie?”
“Huh?” Yes, brilliant, wonderful, such grace, much eloquence.
“When Opera-senpai asked you why you covered for us, why’d you lie? Surely this would only bring you more trouble now that you’re associated with Kalego-kun and I.”
“... I... couldn’t really think of anything else on the spot... I really did just want to eat my lunch.”
“Hmm?” His ears were ringing... but it didn’t seem like you were gonna tell the truth anytime soon.
“My ambition is to survive but I guess my actions don’t really reflect that...”
“...”
“Ah, sorry, I’m talking too much I need to go now.”
“Hey wai-” but no sound came out.
In fact, it seemed eerily quiet... and no matter what he did there wasn’t anything to hear.
~~~
It wasn’t any surprise that you would say something like that, demons are naturally selfish creatures. If you were truly looking out for your own it was understandable if not dismissive for any other possible reason.
If only that were the case.
The way home was better walked than flown, and taking great care you made sure that your leave of the main road was unnoticeable, turning instead into the woods. Not that it was ever noticed in the first place but it was whatever.
And you eased your pace only when you entered the muted section of forest you called home, unlocked the door to your empty house, and promptly plopped on the couch. Yes, this small muted lot of land, and the house, were the last things your clan left to you before disappearing into thin air.
You were young... errr... younger when it happened. And you speculated that, maybe you were too loud to stay with them as a child, then again all demon children were... Your clan was one that taught silence early. They were also a more nomadic clan, since they couldn’t hide their physique (like the Purson clan), they opted to remain on the move. This was greatly assisted by their bloodline magic and resonance with the wilderness.
And still... you didn’t like to think of why you were left behind, just knew that you had to get stronger quickly so you could... could what? catch up? continue waiting? No, for now you needed to maintain the muted zones around the house, who knows how much longer they’d hold.
So you get up and you do just that, imbuing the zones with your mana, and ensuring your home’s security. (Most predators preferred not to enter where they’re deaf and dumb, unable to hear and unable to call for help if needed.) You were grateful they at least left you this place to return to and impressed that their mana had yet to fade, but better safe than sorry.
Yes, this is how you lived for the past four years. Safe, quiet, alone...
Homework time!
Dismissing the sad and intrusive thoughts, you move onto something more productive.
_______________________________________________________
(Yes reader is a sad and lonely child, a little like Iruma but they’ve come to take it in stride... ish
Will Reader come to terms with the new people in their life? Qill they become closer to Balam, Kalego, and Opera? Will they continue to go on without a guardian?
Find out next time on, The Alef)
Hello dear mutual of mine just wanted to ask a random question again (hope you don't mind) what is your favourite manga in this time period and why? (Aka I'm fishing for recs ok? You have really great taste!)
hmmm....
It's a tie at the moment between Osamu Nishi's 'Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun!' and Yuu Morikawa's 'Mr. Villain's Day Off'!!
Welcome to demon School Iruma Kun! because it has, for me, a good balance between action, school day growth, teen self-discovery and deep seated political drama! We follow the titular Iruma-kun on his journey in the demon realm as a human recently adopted by a grand demon! The story is all about Iruma gaining confidence, friends and most importantly learning that being selfish isn't always a bad thing. That and also a massive conspiracy about dead/missing demon kings; terrorism and elements of what I'd say are thriller!
That and the fact that the main cast is mostly made up of a full class of students and it's amazing how the class are all a found family (that feels REALISTIC and CONSISTENT) but are also allowed to be individual characters with their own interpersonal relationships and ideals/wants that are never pushed aside for plot convivence or in service of the main characters progression. I also hold a special place in my heart for the love trio (the CANON) name for the main trio of the cast and they're (canonically) self-proclaimed soulmates who just love each other and its like it doesn't have to be specified if its romantic or platonic because they love each other and that's what's important!!
And Mr Villain's Day Off because it's just so fucking funny. Need a silly fluff piece with unexpected jabs of angst that still leave you with the feeling of 'oh there is good in the world'? wrapped up in a power-rangers parody??? Well, this is for you. We follow the 'general' a member of an alien race who are trying to invade the earth and take over; destroying all humans in the process who are stopped by the Rangers which are literally just the power rangers but for copyright reasons aren't called that. As the title suggests however, we only follow him when he's off duty and it's a very (ironically) humanising piece and shows our MC seeing the beauty of Earth and human life! He has doubts every so often about his mission because of this and its fun to see his thought process!!
We also occasionally see from the Rangers POV who are very confused about the fact that apparently their alien enemies have... enforced workplace routines?? And mandatory bureaucracy?? Also the GENERAL (implied to be the one who they mainly go up against/at least meet/ know is behind most of the things they deal with) has a hard line that if he's not paid he's not fighting them and won't intentionally hurt animals. They also see that he's a *person* because for instance he finds out that the Red Ranger has a very glaring weakness and could take him out with it but simply doesn't... which is cool of him?
There's also a recurring plot line with actual spirits and cherry blossoms etc that i won't spoil but is so simultaneously sad and fluffy!!
--
Also I know i told you last time but I really, really don't mind questions!!!
Welcome To Demon-School, Iruma-kun Season 3 Episode 6 Release Date: Devilishly Pure
Tumblr media
Everyone is enjoying the Harvest festival, and the students from the misfit class are specially working their buts off. But I wonder how Kalego sensei's favorite Iruma is doing? Before we consider it further, here is a cream of the story till now. After their heroic efforts at Walter Park, the misfit students return to Babyls Demon School after their summer vacation. Aside from adoration and admiration, they will also be shocked to learn that the entire class must be promoted to Dalet rank before entering the second year to remain in the elite Royal One classroom. The Harvest and Music Festivals are just around the corner, so there are plenty of opportunities to rank up. No class has yet been able to accomplish such a feat, but doing so will not be easy. To help the misfit class succeed, the school hires special tutors to help them overcome their challenges. To rank up, Iruma Suzuki decides to gain recognition from his special tutor, the short-tempered and selfish Bachiko Barbatos.  Welcome To Demon-School, Iruma-Kun Season 3 Episode 5 Recap Each of the Misfit Class' special tutors took a very different approach to train their little darlings, and while Balam did not necessarily view his method as particularly harsh (that's just part of his charm), Sergeant Fur Fur understood what exactly he was doing to his boys, and that makes him easily the most demonic of all the demons we have encountered. What kind of monster takes high school boys to a club, spends huge sums of money on them, and then sells them to pay for it? In one sense, Fur Fur is doing what exactly he says he's going to do: he's a demon, and he looks like a stereotypical demon. For ease of reference, his shirt (we'll call it that for ease of reference) even says "disaster," so he can't be accused of lying. Kalego, however, tends to do the somewhat kinder thing when it comes down to the wire, something Fur Fur seems incapable of doing. Finally, we know for certain why Iruma is the protagonist, the rest of the cast is good, but without Iruma to balance them out, they're just not as much fun as they tend to be. Welcome To Demon-School, Iruma-Kun Season 3 Episode 6 Release Date And Time I've Somehow Gotten Stronger When I Improved My Farm-Related Skills Episode 7 will release on November 12, 2022. for your consideration, trans!Asmodeus
-was raised as a girl for the first few years of his life till he realized being called a girl was uncomfortable and proudly announced one day to his mother that ‘I’m a boy’ and that was that on that subject
-he loathes his first name cause it’s a girl’s name but he hasn’t changed it out of some sort of misplaced pride or something, which is why he’s still saddled with it despite hating it. his family are the only ones allowed to get away with calling him ‘Alice’
-literally none of his friends call him Alice and always some variation of Asmodeus or Azz and he’s fine w/ that
-he stopped showing his tail as a boy simply cause no tail is less likely to raise any questions (as plenty of demons have small/nonexistent tails) than him wandering around with a bubbly heart tipped tail(typically a ‘girl’s’ tail so would be a bit unusual to see on a boy).
-the only ones who actually know about this are his family (or at least his mom and David. Viole and Lily look young enough that they’ve probably only ever known him as a boy). none of his friends know because he’s never felt it prudent to tell them cause it’s not, really anyone else’s business?? (I could imagine him telling a future significant other at some point tho)
-side note but, evidently the crossdressing as a devidol didn’t bother him /that/ much given that he was 100% ready to do it again to join Iruma during the Devidol games (and would have if his mom hadn’t stopped him lol) so. he’s not about to do it often tho
Welcome the Demon School, Marinette!
Because I’m bored and you’re here. Presenting a Miraculous take on Iruma-kun.
_____________________
It was shaping up to be the worst day of Marinette's life.
She woke up late. Again.
This only happened because her alarm didn’t go off. Which was because said alarm was in her phone, and the battery had died. And she had no time to charge it.
The small lizard that she had been taking care of the past couple weeks had disappeared that morning with no sign of where it had gone. She was worried her parents may have found it or that it could have gotten lost somewhere.
She got to school just on time, only to be tripped and have her belongings scattered across the floor (much to the snickers and commentary of certain observers who of course did nothing to help), forcing her to take time to collect them all and resulting in her actually being late to class.
Lila was regaling the class with some new and most likely completely made up story as everyone seemed to gather around her and stare at her in wonder like she had hung the stars (and given their gullibility, Marinette couldn't put it past them to not fall for that if Lila HAD claimed it). Marinette quietly shuffled past them and slipped into her seat in the back, feeling the weight of their cruel glares and mocking smirks. All in all, an indicator that Lila's takeover of the class and even the school was still in effect. The only thing that saved her from any biting or passive aggressive comment was the teacher starting the lesson.
Except then she learned that her homework had been one of the things to fall out of her bag, but one of the items she had failed to recollect afterwards. The fact that Lila presented a project that just "happened" to look exactly like hers and even had the name smudged out and replaced with her own clearly meant nothing as far as the teacher was concerned.
This resulted in a failing grade for Marinette, and any attempt that she made to argue were quickly shot down as Lila pretended to cry at the "horrible accusation" and the teacher proceeded to lecture Marinette in front of the class for trying to steal credit for another student's work. Marinette's evidence (which included pictures and video of herself making the project at multiple stages of the process, pointing out the smudged name, or her own scraped knees from when she fell earlier and the project went missing from her bag) meant nothing and was disregarded as the teacher forced Marinette to apologize for something she hadn't done before sending her off to the principal's office.
Which resulted in her being suspended for "continued bullying" and sent home to her no doubt ready to be disappointed parents, who seemed all too willing to believe the worst in their daughter based off a liar they barely knew. Not that Marinette was bitter about that or anything. (Lie. She totally was.)
She trudged home in dismay. And as she made the walk of shame from her school to her home, much to the snickers and cruel comments of her former friends, the upturned noses of her teachers who once believed in her, and Lila's own smirk at yet again getting another win over the poor girl, Marinette could only ask herself:
"Can my life get any worse?"
Which clearly turned out to be the exact wrong thing to say, because yes, in fact, it could.
As Marinette soon discovered when she was kidnapped by a demon.
"Wait—WHAT?!"
Introducing one Jagged Stone. A Demon Lord of the Demon Realm. Well known for his wild appearance and unusual style, even among demons. He was popular. He was eccentric.
And he was apparently Marinette’s new guardian as of today.
“Wait, wait! I’m sorry—WHAT?!”
“Just call me Dad. Or Uncle Jagged! Oo, I like the sound of that. Uncle Jagged! Yeah, call me that!” He told her, not really seeming concerned with why she would have reservations about this entire thing, how sudden it was, or the fact that she was a human who was not only being faced with the prospect that demons exist, but that one had officially claimed her as a ward.
“No wait, can we back up to the part where I’m adopted now?” Marinette questioned, confused and frustrated and just shy of freaking out.
“I thought that was rather clear.” Jagged stated, grinning widely and outright spinning with glee. “I’ve always wanted a kid! And now I have one! Thank you, Fang!” He turned to the crocodile-looking creature hovering nearby.
“Of course.” It replied—and okay, the thing could talk.
Jagged stared at it teary-eyed before hugging it—him? “You’re the best familiar, Fang. Finding me the perfect child to spoil and eventually become my heir.”
O…kay…
“But…I have parents?” She tried to interject weakly, still confused about all of this.
“Oh, we’ve taken care of that.” Jagged explained vaguely, waving it off.
Marinette’s eye twitched. “Meaning…?”
Please don’t say they’re dead. Please don’t say they’re dead. They may not have trusted her and she may be unhappy that they believed Lila over her, but she didnt want them hurt. His other demonic assistant, apparently named Penny, answered. “You are now officially the ward of Jagged Stone.”
“Isn’t it great?” Jagged grinned.
Well, that was…not completely horrible, at least.
Still, it begged a question.
“I’m a ward of a demon? HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?”
“Well, if you remember…” Fang started.
Marinette sighed pitifully as she stared out a window.
“Oh, how my life is horrible and filled with pain and sadness! If only there was a magical demon familiar to rescue me and take me somewhere rock and roll.”
With a poof, a much bigger and scarier looking Fang appeared and grinned down at her.
“How fortunate for you, for I happen to be a magical demon familiar!”
“Le gasp!” Marinette exclaimed in shock.
“And as I am very grateful to you for taking care of me, I shall happily take you with me to a better place and destroy your enemies. Not necessarily in that order.”
Marinette clapped gleefully.
“Yay! Do that! Blow up that evil institute of learning and fry everyone inside! And then eat my parents because they're jerks who tried to smack you with a broom and flush you down a sewer drain.”
Fang smirked.
“Certainly!”
And thus Fang flew off to destroy the school and devour everyone inside—
“Okay, I’m pretty sure that’s not how it happened.” Marinette exclaimed dryly, interrupting the amusing and clearly wish-fulfilling fantasy.
“Well, it could.” Fang replied. “If you want me to, I can.”
“NO THANK YOU.” She exclaimed with a shriek before getting her emotions under control. “Just…why? Why me?”
The demonic crocodile-like familiar floated in a circle around her. “Well, it made sense. Jagged wished for a child to become his heir. You wished for an escape from your life. And you were quite helpful to me when I had been injured, proving yourself to be a human of kindness and honor. If anyone was to be worthy of being taken in as my master’s fledgling, you seemed most deserving.”
Well, that made her blush.
Wait…
“The lizard that I’d been caring for? That was you?”
Fang smiled and nodded.
Jagged rested a hand on the creature’s head and smiled at Marinette. “I have to thank you for looking out for my little Fangy. Who knows what could have happened to him all alone in the human world. Isn’t that right?” He spoke to Fang directly in a rather baby-ish voice as he nuzzled the creature.
Fang nuzzled Jagged back. And…okay, this was kind of cute—crazy situation aside.
“I’m…honored.” Because she was, strangely enough. Craziness and kidnapping aside. “But I already have parents. And a life.”
“Not a good one.” Fang growled out in irritation.
Jagged nodded solemnly. “Right. Fang told me all about it. Your school sucks. Your classmates suck. Your parents…” Seeing her unhappy expression, he coughed. “Well, they’re taking a liar’s word over yours. All in all, it’s been incredibly un-rock and roll. You definitely deserve better.”
“Well…” She trailed off because yeah, they weren’t wrong.
The demon smiled. “Which is why we’ve erased their memories.”
“WHAT?”
“This way, no one will question your disappearance!”
“WHAT?!”
“So this way you can stay here without having to worry about anyone trying to find you! Isn’t it great?”
“WHAT?!”
______________
Things that would follow may include but are in no way limited to:
Demon Miracuclass. (Meaning Alya, Nino, all of them are demons in the demon world Marinette will be befriending and not Marinette’s former human friends whom shall remain nameless extras).
Personalization Prompt #2 – Eternitas
Using the second personalized prompt for Lou over @eternitas! Again, this is a grade A human being who brings a lot of support to this blog, so thank you 😊 And I hope you enjoy!
BLACK: what face claim from an anime, comic book, or cartoon do I associate with you?
Tumblr media
Honestly, as with a lot of my followers, I really do associate you with your pfp! I don’t know who they are, but putting them aside and really thinking about it, I guess the closest I come to a face claim that I picture as you would have to be Haruka Tenoh from Sailor Moon! I feel like you have a very androgynous look, plus they give off the same sort of elegant vibe, the smile, and the colouring I imagine for you in my head, if that makes any sense.
WHITE: what flame type and box weapon do I think you’d have in the khr!verse?
So, I don’t know which of the personalized prompts will come out first, just due to the fact that I do shuffle the queue every time I add a new post to it, so not even I know when anything is coming out. Due to that, I will say that, as you’ll see in the other personalized prompt I did for you, I strongly headcanon you as a Lightning Flame type with secondary, weaker Rain Flames. As for a box weapon, I do strongly imagine a Lightning Bear box as your box weapon of choice, particularly a black bear. Going just with the symbolic meaning of bears as spirit animals, they tend to represent strength, protective power, courage, motherly love and care, healing and protection, an affinity for solitude and well developed powers of introspection and a strong grounding influence and I don’t know how to explain why, but a lot of those really do feel the vibe I get from you!
RED: what aesthetics do I associate with you?
Stars shining brightly against a pitch black sky, tracing the patterns in them with a fingertip. Hands on a video game controller, smiling and laughing and being so eager to see what happens in the game next. True love. Honesty, being true to yourself and your values. Choosing kindness. Theatre curtains falling on a stage, the audience applauding and standing. Creativity and passion. La vie boheme. Good food, conversations and laughter and memories made with friends and family at the table.
BLUE: what are three songs I’d put on a playlist for you?
TRUE TO YOUR HEART, 98˚& Stevie Wonder – this one has totally become very much something that reminds me of your love story you’ve shared with me between you and your partner 😊
PIANO FIGHTS, 65daysofstatic
WALK LIKE A GENTLEMAN, eye alaska – both of these two just fit vibes wise, without taking into account the lyrics. They both have an energy combined with some very soft and relaxing vibes where both songs make you wanna be active but make you smile and untense at the same time and that fits – you always make me smile and get excited to reply and do things!
YELLOW: what fictional world out of all my fandoms would I picture you in?
It’s definitely KHR. Not only is KHR just such a huge fandom and a universe that I love, so I of course imagine all my readers in it at some points, even if it’s not the fandom we share, but KHR is probably the fandom we talk about together the most! If I’m not picturing you in KHR though, then I’m picturing you in K Project for obvious reasons!
GREEN: who would I pair you with out of all my fandoms?
In KHR, it’s Gokudera. In K Project, it’s Seri. In Nanbaka, it’s Hajime. In Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun!, it’s Opera. In Bungou Stray Dogs, it’s Fukuzawa. In Servamp, it’s Gear. In Saiyuki, it’s Sanzo. In Eyeshield 21, it’s Rui. In Ronin Warriors, it’s Sage. In Kekkaishi, it’s Masamori. In GetBackers, it’s Kazuki. In Black Cat, it’s Saya. In Karneval, it’s Gareki. In Gangsta., it’s Constance. In Bleach, it’s Urahara. In Naruto, it’s Suigetsu. In Deadman Wonderland, it’s Nagi. In Ouran, it’s Mori. In Durarara!!, it’s Shizuo. In Yu Yu Hakusho, it’s Touya. In Gintama, it’s Gintoki. In Mystic Messenger, it’s Saeran. In Ikemen Revolution, it’s Luka. In Blush Blush, it’s Volks. In Date Warp, it’s Alben. In Hatoful Boyfriend, it’s Yuuya. In The Outsiders, it’s Ponyboy. In Class of the Titans, it’s Odie. In Ultimate Spider-Man, it’s Peter. In Gravity Falls, it’s Ford. In The Covenant, it’s Pogue. In The Mighty Ducks, it’s Julie. In Jungle Fury, it’s Casey. In Ninja Storm, it’s Shane. In Mystic Force, it’s Vida.
PURPLE: what gif reminds me of you?
Tumblr media
PINK: if you were an AU, what type of AU would you be?
Oh, this one was hard because there were so many thoughts! In the end, I do think it would be a crossover AU of some sorts, where the characters from a fandom are set into another more fantastical or supernaturally themed world, and I do think there’d have to be a real grittiness and heaviness to the story contrasted by sparkling light hearted and cute moments that make you laugh and smile. Those light moments to me really reflect who you are to talk to, how accepting and fun and interesting you are, but the heaviness and dark themes give great nods as to how you’re never afraid to really tackle the serious topics with the respect they’re due.
RAINBOW: if i were to write a khr sequel, following Tsuna’s demise, and could only use my reader’s as characters, who would you be?
I do see you as being part of the Vongola. A competent Lightning Flame user, you’re not only a good strategist but part of the information network of the Vongola, a sort of master of disguise who uses their well-honed acting skills to become different people as situations call for it, doing the fieldwork as a spy and gathering important intelligence for the family.
For the Sake of a Smile--Chapter Two
Title: For the Sake of a Smile-- Chapter Two
Fandom: Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun!
Summary: Hell on earth was your motto for your job. Granted, you were pretty sure earth really was hell, considering the shit you had seen. And the fact your coworker was a child. Suzuki Iruma, in fact. A kid who’s life was decidedly worse than yours, but smiled despite everything.
And you’d do a lot for his smile. Including summoning a demon and signing your life away.
But as it turns out, hell (The Netherworld, actually) was a lot better than living on earth. Demons were more humane than a lot of humans you knew.
And Iruma’s smile wasn’t the only one that would change your life.
Short One | AO3
A month since you began your new job, and you were thoroughly enjoying your new life. Surrounded by books, seeing Iruma and his friends through the day.
Somehow terrifying the student body into taking care of their books and respecting the library, which was a blessing with the upcoming end of terminus.
Apparently, the rumor spread that you were an 'unranked' demoness, and considering Iruma's outrageous stunts and growing infamy, and the fact you were believed to be his mother, and the daughter of Lord Sullivan, meant the slightest disapproving glare at students misbehaving had them quickly disappearing elsewhere. It was likely the biggest bluff in the Netherworld, second only to everyone believing you and Iruma were actually demons.
Still, you enjoyed the peace it spared you as you worked on plans to re-arranging things. It might have been a month, but a lot of that was spent just sorting through books, removing discarded papers, setting aside ones that had been severely marked up to where pages were illegible, and just getting books in their shelves.
There was no kind of organization system that you could identify. You never worked in a library, knew just the basics of spending your free time in them growing up. So you were having to figure it out from scratch, as well as all the different categories of the Netherworld. Fiction and Nonfiction were still the same. But the academics….
There were the basics like History (except the Netherworld history was a whirlwind in a half itself). Literature was surprisingly small, with no 'classics' yet established. Biology was pushing things between what you were familliar with, but then you had the others like Torture. The seemingly endless categories of different kinds of magic such as seduction. Familliars. Elemental. Bloodline. Then the different magical apparatuses and other such things.
You rubbed your head as you tried to stave off a headache and looked up from your worksheet. Maybe you could pop into the kitchens for a cup of hell-grey tea… You froze as your gaze fell on the man demon crouching behind a bookcase that did little to hide him. It wasn't the first time you had caught someone staring at you, usually in awed terror.
And usually students. Except There was no way in hell (heaven?) that he was a student. One, even crouching, you were sure the man demon was as tall as Iruma, maybe as tall as Sullivan himself. Long wild silver hair framed his broad shoulders, a metal mask covering his lower face. His lower legs were those of a bird, complete with sharp curved talons.
There was a moment before you realized you were staring as intently as he was, and shoved your thoughts away and offered an awkward wave. That seemed to shake him from his own thoughts, his pale skin turning dark with a blush as he stood, stepping out from behind the bookcase.
He..he was easily a foot taller than you. Or two.
"Can I help you?" You offered, not sure if your heart was thrumming because of instinctual fear of someone being able to loom over you like he did, or something else that was just as instinctual.
"You're Iruma's mother?"
His words helped your mind clear its thoughts. You groaned and pinched your nose. "What did he do now? I swear, that boy…" you were excited, ecstatic even, that he had friends. A whole class he was getting along with as he found his place.
But damn, did he have to draw so much attention to himself?
The demon looked around, though no one was giving either of you much attention as they studied hard to make up for misused time over the last semester. "Is.. there somewhere private we can talk?"
You mentally cursed. Iruma must have really messed up now. And you thought his supposed evil cycle had been bad enough.
But, still, why wasn’t Kalego here to complain bitterly about him? The misfit class’s homeroom teacher didn’t do so very often, but there were times, such as when Iruma went through that fake evil-cycle, that you found your office invaded by the sardonic teacher snarling about him over your pathetic attempt at tea. "Yeah, let me show you my office. I take it you're one of the professors?"
"Yes, Professor Balam. I teach Netherworld history and biology, especially when it comes to imaginary creatures."
That made you pause and turn back towards him. This was Balam Shichiro? You had spent hours reading the books he had published on ‘imaginary creatures’ or, as you knew them, normal plants and animals. There had been a sort of bittersweet humor as you read the theories and thoughts about the ‘defenseless and weak’ versions of the animals of the netherworlds.
You realized you were staring as he tilted his head slightly. “Sorry! I just, uh, really like your book, Flora and Fauna of the Human Realm. I’ve probably read it almost a dozen times by now.”
“Oh? Really?” He blushed, and you were pretty sure he was smiling behind his mask. “Thank you. I haven’t met a lot of people genuinely interested in my works outside the academic circle.”
“I’m a bit of a bookworm,” you excused as you led him to your office. It was small and cozy for you, so you couldn’t imagine how he felt. “I would offer some tea, but I’m told that my tea-making skills are abysmal. But, I do have some snacks if you want?”
“Oh, um, no thank you. I’m here to talk about something Iruma said…”
You waited patiently for him to continue, but instead he stood awkwardly, his gloved hands fidgeting anxiously that seemed out of place for someone that looked so intimidating. “Hey,” you tried to soothe, resting a hand on his and meeting his surprised gaze. “Despite the rumors, I am not that scary. Unless someone defamed a book or something. And I highly doubt Iruma would do something like that.”
“He told me you both are humans,” he blurted, and it was your turn to be surprised. You stared at him, sure you misheard. His mask did slightly muffle his words.
“I-I’m sorry, but he said what?”
--+-- Balam had spent most of his life studying other forms of life, dreaming and theorizing of what life was like in the human realm, supplemented with knowledge for ancient texts and legends.
And being able to meet not one human, but two? He could hardly believe it, torn between excitement and anxiety for you and Iruma’s safety. He had known about you prior to this, whispers of students of the intimidating new librarian mixed with the gossip of the Misfit class consuming the rumor mill upon his return.
But you hadn’t looked threatening in the least bit as he watched you. He would have written you off as an average demoness if it hadn’t been for the exotic curve of your ears. And you seemed just as soft and sweet as Iruma, until he mentioned the secret the boy had shared.
Then you reminded him of other mothers in nature with a youngling in danger.
“Where is he?” you growled, your soft sweetness disappearing, and he half-expected mana to flood the room in response to your anger.
Except you were human. You had no mana, couldn’t perform any magic, you were completely powerless and defenseless.
But that didn’t seem to faze you in the least bit.
“His next class, I believe he said it was with Professor Stolas.”
You were off like one of Bars’ arrows, darting past him, out of the library and down the hall. He didn’t even think before following after, easily keeping up with your sprint. You gave no care to the students darting out of your way, whispers growing in your wake.
You only stopped when you reached the courtyard Stolas was holding her class, Iruma’s blue hair standing out clearly among the rest as they sat in the grass while the botany demoness demonstrated some of the techniques used to harvest valuable plants.
“He’s safe,” you whispered, pressing a hand to your chest as the manic energy fled your form. “Oh thank god, he’s safe.”
“Of course he is,” he reassured as he approached, his hand naturally finding its place on top of your hair, soothing the strands that had been displaced during your sprint. “You and Iruma are very…special,” he continued, careful of his words since you weren’t exactly somewhere private. “I would never hurt either of you, but I cannot say the same of my colleagues.”
“No shit,” you murmured. “I get a reminder of that every time someone sings the school anthem.”
“That would be rather foreboding, wouldn’t it?” He hummed, reflecting on the song but from the perspective of a human.
There was a long pause before she shifted, looking at him, which made his hand pause. “So, cut to the chase. What are your terms?”
“Terms?”
You gave a wry smile, “I’m not new to the blackmailing business. Not after working for a factory that was a cover for drug and money smuggling. What do you want in return for your silence?”
“What? Nothing!” he spluttered. He had been accused of many things, but blackmail had never been one of them. “I mean, if I could ask you a few questions about humans, and the creatures of your world, that would be wonderful, but I don’t want anything else! I wanted you to know that I knew, and if you need anything, I’m willing to help. I’m sure you’re more aware than your son in regarding the dangers of our world, and I just wanted to help protect you.”
The expression on your face made it clear you didn’t believe nor trust him. “I’m too jaded for that. I may trust Lord Sullivan, but I'm not silly enough to believe he doesn’t have some kind of ulterior motive beyond wanting a family.”
Balam’s shoulders dropped slightly, recognizing that look of mistrust, along with your protectiveness of Iruma. It was one he had seen on many feral mother hellcat faces, who had never been socialized.
Was the human realm more dangerous than he had realized?
Thankfully, hopefully, he could rationalize with you. Make you realize he didn’t mean you or your child any harm. "You and Iruma are the only two of a kind. There are no other humans except you in the Netherworld. You don't realize how precious both of you are to me. I've devoted my life to studying and learning about other forms of life, and there are no better resources regarding life in your world than you two."
There was still distrust on your face, but he could also see you were considering his words. A hint of possible trust, giving him hope.
"Oh, hi Professor Balam!" Iruma's cheerful voice interrupted the lingering silence. Balam returned Iruma's wave before the boy noticed you standing next to Balam, looking far less pleased. "Mom? What are you… oh. Oh."
"Yes, oh," you growled, putting your hands on your hips as you turned towards him. "I am very disappointed in you, Iruma."
"Ma'am!" Az protested instantly as the boy shrank slightly, always ready to defend Iruma even if the demon (hopefully) didn't realize what was going on. "Iruma has done nothing to warrant such disappointment!"
"Yeah!" Clara quickly agreed, equally oblivious but steadfast. “Iruma’s been too busy studying with us to get into any trouble!”
Balam rested his hand once more on your hair, distracting you. "We should let the students continue to their next class, don't you agree?"
You growled, crossing your arms, as you glared down at the boy before sighing. "Fine. But after school, Iruma, we're having a very serious conversation."
"Yes mom," Iruma said meekly before running after the rest of his class. It was easy to hear the whispers and playful teasing of his classmates of Iruma being scolded by his mother in front of everyone.
"Do go easy on the boy. He meant no harm,” Balam said as the class disappeared inside the halls of the school. “I may have accidentally cornered him without realizing it."
"I just wish he would think before he acts some time,” you admitted quietly. “I never knew being too nice could be such a problem before I met him."
Met? That caught Balam's attention, his automatic stroking of your hair pausing in surprise. He wanted to ask more, however the 'bell' cried out the start of the next class, reminding him sharply of the time. His stomach turned as realization struck. "I'm late for my own class."
--+-- No one came into Kalego's office, except for Balam and Lord Sullivan. No other professor, and definitely no student.
Yet, here you were, slumping into the other chair Lord Sullivan insisted he had. "What are you doing here?" the dark-hair demon growled, his irritation evident. He would be annoyed no matter what. But right now, it was the End of Terminus, which was stressful enough. And now someone dared to enter his private sanctuary? The only place he could escape from both student and teacher?
He had half a mind to summon Cerberion and ‘escort’ you back to the library where you belonged.
"I came to talk about Balam,” you said, apparently unconcerned about the dark glare he graced you with. “I heard you two are friends."
Kalego narrowed his eyes even further as he snarled. "We are old classmates, nothing like the ‘friends’ of the misfit class." Devil, the ‘friends’ Iruma, Alice, and Clara was the bane of his existence. Next to Lord Sullivan and Opera. And probably tied with Bar.
"Adult friends are just coworkers who don't annoy you every time they open their mouth. But I just wanted to know, how much do you trust him?"
Your question surprised Kalego, though he answered without even thinking. "I trust Shichiro with my life. I don't think there is another demon out there that I trust more."
You hummed thoughtfully as you tapped your chin, clearly deep in thought. Silence lingered, for which he was grateful. But still…
"Again. What are you doing here?" He growled. His office was his private sanctuary. He did not want anyone, especially Lord Sullivan's kin, to start wandering in whenever they pleased.
"What? You can come to me and complain about my son and his entire class but I can't come ask your opinion on someone?" You shot back, crossing your arms and challenging his look.
He huffed slightly, crossing his arms as well. "I came to you in hopes you could instruct your child to behave, as he is the obvious leader of his classmates. You're his mother, he'll listen to you." He also didn't dare approach Lord Sullivan with his issues, else he'd get caught up in the elder demon's fawning for the child.
"Does any child actually listen to their parent?" You sighed, but stood and stepped towards the door. "Do you really trust Balam that much?"
"He's loyal, even tempered, and for as powerful as he is, he's humble about it. Honestly, his only flaw would be his skinship habits.”
"Skinship?” you looked honestly confused, by the term, surprising him.
Where did Lord Sullivan hide you and Iruma that you both picked up on such strange concepts, but not other more basic ones? "The petting. He can't resist touching people. Or anything that moves, really.”
"Oh. I thought he was being condescending because I'm so much shorter than him."
Kalego scoffed at the idea. "Balam is rarely ever condecending, even towards the most idiotic students, let along a fellow faculty member."
"Huh. Got it. Thanks for the talk Kalego.”
He barely acknowledged your departure with a grunt, focusing back on the homework he was trying to grade. Still, your words echoed in his thoughts: adult friends are just coworkers who don't annoy you every time they open their mouth.
That made a lot more sense than what the Misfit clases whispered and prattled on about. If that was a definition of friend, then Balam certainly was counted among them.
--+-- Iruma was quiet at supper, picking at his food instead of gobbling it like usual.
He paused as you entered and took a seat, dropping your bag next to you. Lord Sullivan looked between you and Iruma, before whining.x “Okay, what happened between my two favorite people? I’ve never seen either of you so gloomy!”
“Well, it came to my attention today that our secret’s been discovered,” you started, making both Sullivan and Opera freeze. “By one of the professors, matter of fact.”
“Which Professor?” Sullivan asked in a tone and manner that reminded you that your ‘dopey’ adopted father was the chairdemon of Babyls, and apparently one of the most powerful demons in the Netherworld.
“Professor Balam,” Iruma confessed, sulking into his chair, expecting another lecture, probably akin to Balam’s when he first confessed. “Really, I…”
“We’re safe then,” Opera spoke as they filled your cup full of tea. “He was my kohai back in Babyls, and I doubt he’s changed much.”
“Professor Balam has been nothing but nice!” Iruma quickly added. “I-I really am sorry that I blurted it out without thinking. But the professor lectured me about being more careful and everything for hours.”
“Opera is right,” Sullivan agreed reservedly. “Out of any of the professors, Balam would be the one I am least concerned about. However, you do need to be more careful, Iruma. Now please, eat up! I hate seeing my precious grandson look so gloomy when there’s food in front of him! You need to eat plenty to keep up your strength for studying!”
“I did make your favorites.” Opera offered a faint smile to Iruma before placing a hand on your shoulder. “And I’ll make some calming tea for you as well.”
--+-- "Hey, Iruma?" You knocked on the boy's door despite it being wide open, letting you see him bent over his desk, studying.
He looked up with a small smile "Yeah mom?"
It warmed your heart that he still referred to you as such, even when it was just you and him. "Would you mind if I come in?"
You could see a flash of confusion on his face, still unused to the concept of his own, private space. You knew Sullivan loved to barge in whenever, but you wanted to help him get used to the idea he could set boundaries. "I, uh, yeah? Sure?”
"I, uh wanted to talk to you about today--not to scold you, again," you clarified, seeing his expression fall. "I just wanted to be sure you knew the reason I got upset was because I worry a lot, especially about you." You sat on the edge of his bed, gaze focused on your hands.
This was as awkward for you as it was for him, probably. Unlike Sullivan, you weren’t so quick to change from protective coworker to actual mother figure. There was the protectiveness, but there were moments like these. Where you tried to help him grow into a better person.
"You mean a lot to me, and I was really scared you were in danger. Things had been going so well I let my guard down…and well, I may have overreacted a little. So, I'm sorry if…" Your words were cut off as he tackled you with a hug. Your arms wrapped automatically around him as he collapsed on the bed next to you.
"I should have thought before saying anything, it just blurted out." He mumbled into your shoulder. "He was telling me about how he received his scar, and he thought we were alike in that way, and…He just seemed like such a nice, honest person."
"Well, I guess I need to apologize to him," you sighed, rubbing his back. “I was awfully distrustful…”
"I’m sure he will understand! But, hey! Do you want to see the picture book he made to help with my studies?"
That made you pause. "Picture book?"
--+-- You waited until you knew that Professor Balam had an open period before slipping from the Library and down the hall towards the biology classrooms, easily finding his office.
It took a while to work up your bravery before knocking on the door. The courage quickly fled as the sound echoed down the hall and you wanted to flee with it. Apologies were not your strong suit, but you needed to be on his good side, now more than ever.
Not only did he seem to be genuine and nice, even going the extra distance to help Iruma pass his classes with frankly adorable picture books. But, he really could be someone you could trust with your secret. Which, honestly, was kind of nice to know.
Before you could give in to the impulse to flee, the door opened and Balam looked down at you, surprise on his face and in his voice when he said your name. "How can I help you?"
"I wanted to apologize," you blurted out and held out your apology gift. "I shouldn't have been distrustful or rude. Opera said these were your favorites, so…"
He gently took the small package of sweets from your hand, looking at it carefully. "I wouldn't think Opera would remember after all this time."
"They did." Thankfully, you added mentally. Otherwise you would have stressed even more last night, and probably well into the morning. "And then Iruma showed me the books you made…"
His attention sharply turned back to you, his pale face turning pink. "He did?"
"Yes! They're absolutely adorable! I loved them! I mean, it's given me some thoughts on how to get the library arranged. A-and it made me feel even worse…"
"You liked them?" He interrupted. "Really?"
"Uh, yeah? I mean, they're easy to read, and those drawings are just too cute." Which, at the time, was hard to equate the tall, looming demon with those sweet drawings, but the way he was all but beaming at your praise confirmed that they were his. "So, I really wanted to apologize for my actions the other day. Because it was wrong for me to jump to conclusions like that."
Balam's hand fell on your head rubbing your hair gently. "Don't worry about it, I learned a long time ago how protective mothers can be of their young."
Right. "Speaking of which, can we, uh, speak in private?"
He tilted his head, bit moved aside and gestured for you to enter.
The room was lined with packed bookcases, vines growing from the ceiling, making it feel cozy and almost cramped, despite the fact it was nearly as spacious as a classroom.
"Iruma…isn't my biological son," you stated as soon as the door closed. "I love him as if he is, but you should know that if we're going to be completely honest."
The statement seemed to perplex Balam as he sat on the couch large and tall enough for him. "Not your son? Is that common for humans?"
"Well, it's not uncommon," you explained. "I mean, I don't know how much Iruma told you, but his birth parents were…neglectful. And, well, it's hard not to love and want to mother the boy. But yeah, most humans if they see children in bad situations or orphans and will want to step in and take care of them. We're social creatures, after all." You paused "Are demons not that way?" Sullivan after all readily adopted both you and Iruma, and then the fact the teachers were so dedicated to the students made you think that demonkind were as social as humans.
But Balams expression made you wonder otherwise. "Oh really? No, we aren't. We stick to our families, and if you're not part of a clan, your fate doesn't matter."
"But, this school? You guys have a social hierarchy and everything?"
"Well, most of that is thanks to demon king…" The conversation just continued from there as you both lost track of time, the conversation flowing from one topic to another. You some how ended up next to him, plaster to his side as he toyed with your hair. It was a little unnerving at first, but slowly started to grow accustomed and relaxing into him.
It felt wonderful, to be honest. To the point you were sad when the alarm screamed, announcing time for his next class. "Hey, can I get your number? In case I have any further questions?"
Balam blinked, surprised. "Of course, if you really want."
Your face felt flushed as you nodded, pulling out your phone and offering it to him. "If you don't mind. And, if you have any questions about human, you can text me too!"
He chuckled lightly, "You may end up regretting that offer."
A Follow Up Post for the English Voice Casting of Mr Osomatsu
Click here for Part 1
Tumblr media
Okay so I'm doing a part 2 cause the last post didn't mention all the best roles Billy, Ray, Sean, Kyle, Michael and Max did as voice actors.
First up is Billy Kametz as my personal favorite, Osomatsu. What roles has he done? How about everybody's favorite pretty boy delinquent with the stylish hair, Josuke Higashikata from JJBA: Diamond is Unbreakable. Like isekai? He is Naofumi from Rising of the Shield Hero. Love watching anything by Studio Trigger? He's the number 1 firefighting idiot, Galo from Promare. He's also Anai from Aggretsuko, Macaque in Monkie Kid, Rui from Demon Slayer, Dr. Maruki from Persona 5 Royal, Nenji Ogata from 13 sentinels, Asmodeus Alice in Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun and Ferdinand Von Aegir from Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
Next up is the totally painful cool Karamatsu (and Dekapan), played by Ray Chase. Interestingly enough, he does a couple of Nakamura Yuichi's other roles, one of them being Bruno Bucciarati from JJBA: Golden Wind, He also does Ryoumen Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen, Roswaal L. Mathers in Re: ZERO, Noctis Lucis Caelum from Final Fantasy XV, Puri Puri Prisoner in One Punch Man, Tengen Uzui in Demon Slayer, and for those who like Smash Bros, he does the voice of Roy from the Fire Emblem games. (He also did the voice of that subway announcer in Persona 5)
Next we have Sean Chiplock as the nerdy straightman, Choromatsu. For those unfamiliar with his work, he did the voice of Subaru from Re:ZERO, Ishimaru and Monotaro from the Danganronpa franchise, Shin from Dorohedoro, Kazunari Takao in Kuroko's Basketball, Daewi Han in God of Highschool, Frankenstein in Noblesse, Revali from Zelda: Breath of the Wild and my favorite role he's done, Mista from JJBA: Golden Wind! I'm so glad he was chosen to replace the old actor, I'm much more familiar with his voice work anyway.
Oh boy, we got another talented voice actor that's had a lot of great roles. Kyle McCarley is the voice of our favorite emo cat boy; Ichimatsu, but you might also know him as Mob from Mob Psycho 100, 9S in NieR Automata, Ei Sekigahara in 13 Sentinels, Kusuo Saiki from Saiki K. Reawakened, Shinji Matou in the Fate/Stay Night, Simon from Infinity Train, Ryo in Devilman Crybaby, Yushiro in Demon Slayer, Collot in Beastars, Red Blood Cell in Cells At Work: Code Black, Red Son in Monkie Kid, Narancia in JoJo's Bizzare Adventure and a bunch of more roles. If only the last two were major JoJo characters.
Well, Michael Sinterniklaas did appear in Jojo in a minor role towards the end of part 2. Aside from playing as the goofy and loud Jyushimatsu, he is also the voice of Mikey Simon from Kappa Mikey, a teenage mutant ninja turtle named Leonardo, Funshine Bear in Care Bears, Dean Venture from the Venture Bros, a show I recommend for those who like adult comedies like Mr. Oso. Aside from cartoons, he's done a lot of anime stuff too, some of it goes all the way back to the 90s with his first role being Ataru Moroboshi in Urusei Yatsura. He's also Netherlands in Hetalia, Sora in Naruto Shippuden, Moritaka Mashiro in Bakuman, Dagger in Black Butler: Book of Circus and additional voices for a LOT of anime. He's probably a background character in your favorite show, like JoJo's, Naruto or One Piece.
Last but not least we have the only actor that hasn't done anything in JoJo, Max Mittelman. That's fine, because aside from the cute two-faced Todomatsu, he's also the laid-back hero for fun, Saitama from One Punch Man. He's also Ryuji Sakamoto in the Persona 5 games, Tee in Puyo Puyo Tetris, King in Deadly Seven Sins, Meruem in Hunter x Hunter, Kousei Arima in Your Lie in April, Plagg in Miraculous Ladybug, Ritsu Kageyama in Mob Psycho 100, Atsushi Nakajima in Bungou Stray Dogs, Resasuke in Aggretsuko and the list goes on.
There that's about all of them, I'm sorry this post took so long. But I was busy with other things, so taking the time to make this post was gonna take a while. But I'm glad I made it because now everyone can learn more about the english voices behind these brothers the way I did with their seiyuus.
headcanons for the useless/annoying ghost vestiges au??
I love this AU so much
- Ive mentionned it once but Oboro haunts Kurogiri, mostly just commenting on his shitty parenting of Tomura as if he's watching a bad TV show because no one can hear him. His life is like watching a bad spanish telenovela or a cooking show and screaming at the people that no dont do that its stupid as shit and they still do it.
- AfO is also haunted by a bunch of ghosts who's only goal are to inconvenience him in the slightest way possible. They are either good friends with the OfA ghost crew (in the "same hat" kind of way) or there is some kind of stupid rivalry between them (like two differents group of kid at holidays camp).
- There exists other ghosts but like the Ghosts show they mostly just haunt one place in particular, the reason for the ofa ghosts (and oboro and afo ghost) haunting a person is because of quirk bullshit (also it might be the OfA users are unable to move on until Afo's defeated)
- While the other ghosts are busy thirsting over Aizawa, Nana has a crush on Ms. Joke. (And maybe Midnight as well).
- When they start living at the dorms the other 1A students realises how weird Izuku truly is, like they knew he had his weirdness, but then they realise that "oh, he really is haunted". At least one of them try to actually communicate with the ghosts with advices from google. The ghosts may or may not decides to go with it for fun. Tokoyami is very supportive of Midoriya's ghosts friends.
Send me an au and i’ll give you 5+ headcanons about it
how funny
would it be if like, Shouto decided he doesn’t really want to be a hero but still somehow pass the recommandation exam (even though he doesn’t really want to) and on the first day, when Aizawa is like “I’ll expell the worst one” Shouto is just like “I know the best way to spite my father” and purposely fail
at some point Aizawa straight up put him aside like “if you don’t try better than this I will expell you” and Shouto just say in his best deadpan “oh no. what a shame. i seem to have lost all control of my quirk. oh no. guess you’ll have to expell me now.”
follow a comedy of Shouto trying to get expelled/regularly ending up “expelled” in gen ed, while Aizawa wonders what the hell is wrong with that kid while Endeavour keep breathing down UA’s neck about Shouto
Summary: Asmodeus and Clara discover the truth behind Iruma's parents and decide that it's their responsibility to make up for the love and affection he missed out on growing up. But they somehow miss the fact that Iruma is doing just fine without his previous family, and he's enjoying his new one very much.
-
    “Whoah, Azz-kun! Your bloodline magic is so cool!” Iruma gushed. He had roped himself into helping the janitors clear the cherry blossoms again, but thankfully Azz-kun was there to burn them to a crisp.
    “Thank you, Iruma-sama! But my magic pales into comparison to yours!” Azz-kun puffed up in pride with a literal sparkle in his eyes. But that quickly morphed to anger as Clara slammed into his side.
    “Iruma-chi! Are you done yet? I wanna play!” she whined as Azz-kun tried to pry her off. Iruma rubbed her head and laughed.
    “Yeah, just finished thanks to Azz-kun. What do you want to do?” Clara launched herself off of Azz-kun to latch onto Iruma.
    “I wanna play with the fire!” she cheered and lunged for the small traces of soot that Azz-kun’s fire had left behind. She slammed her hands in the ash and spun around. “Look! It’s like chalk! I bet we can draw with it!”
    “You idiot! You’re going to get our uniforms dirty!” Azz-kun growled as he hoised Clara up to keep her from touching anything. That backfired, and Clara latched onto the sleeve of Azz-kun’ all-white uniform. He dropped her and started rubbing his sleeve. “See what I mean! You’re lucky class is already over!”
    “Don’t worry Azz-azz! I can make another one!” She pulled a nearly identical copy of Azz-kun’ uniform, but in a glaring shade of hot pink and sparkling like a disco ball.
    “I’m not wearing that thing!” Azz-kun yelled back. Iruma was left in the background to watch with an awkward smile. He knew that if he let them keep at it they would never get around to leaving.
    “Clara! How about we play as we walk home?” He interjected into their little squabble. By this point, Clara had climbed on top of Azz-kun’s head and was cackling madly while waving the uniform around. They both turned to face him at the same time, which looked a little creepy. Clara launched herself off once again, causing Azz-kun to squawk about his hair, and landed next to Iruma.
    “Can we play tag?” Clara started bouncing in place while flashing Iruma puppy-dog eyes.
    “Sure thing, that sounds like fun!” Iruma gave her another pat to the head and started leading her out the gates. He trusted Azz-kun to follow, and by the time they got to the gate he had reclaimed his usual position by Iruma’s side. Clara started skipping ahead of the pair before screeching to a halt right outside the gate.
    “Alright! If you don’t have a ribbon you’re not it!” Clara yelled as she produced two ribbons patterned with some creature that Iruma didn’t recognize. She shoved one in Iruma’s hands before sprinting off. Iruma fumbled with it for another moment before following suit.
    “Hey! We didn’t agree on who it would be! Why am I stuck with it!”
--
    Iruma sprawled out across his bed, idly watching Clara build an entire fort out of materials she pulled from her pockets. Azz-kun was yelling at her about ‘disrespecting the sanctity of Iruma-sama’s room!’. Iruma was content to stay there and watch them. He was still unused to having so many people around him, especially people who seemed to have an interest in his happiness. And his friends were so powerful, it still blew his mind whenever he saw them pull off some powerful feat of magic.
    “Clara! That’s amazing!” Speaking of magic, Clara had just finished her elaborate three-story fort, complete with a ball pit and balcony. It was easily one of the coolest things Iruma had seen that week, and Clara had just assembled it before his very eyes. “Both of you have the coolest bloodline magic.”
    “Iruma-sama, you honor us! But your bloodline magic is surely far superior….” Azz-kun gushed, only to be cut off by Clara.
    “Iruma-chi, what’s your bloodline magic?” She jumped up next to him and leaned in until their noses were almost touching.
    “Valac! If he wanted us to know he would have let us know by now!” Azz-kun started to scold her in the background, but Iruma laughed.
    “Oh, I don’t know either.” Technically, he didn’t have any bloodline magic. But he had Grandpa’s magic, so that might have ended up in his ring as well. But Grandpa had never mentioned it, and Iruma had never thought about it before.
    That was apparently the wrong thing to say, as both his friends were giving him weird looks.
    “How do you not know?” Clara cocked her head and gave him a puzzled look.
    “Well, I haven’t spoken to my parents in ages, and Grandpa never mentions it. So I just never figured it out,” Iruma tried to laugh it off, but he just got even weirder looks.
    “Valac! You shouldn’t pry! You could be messing with very painful memories!”Azz-kun was fuming in the background and tried to yank Clara away.
    “Don’t worry, I’m over it. They didn’t want anything to do with me, and I’ve accepted that.” Iruma had spent hours thinking it over, and it had taken a while for him to realize that he no longer felt an affection for the people who had tossed him aside after he spent his entire life trying to please them. He even felt comfortable enough to open up about it, as he was doing now.
    “Iruma-chi…” For once in her life, Clara was shocked speechless. Azz-kun was in a similar boat, but he looked more offended than shocked. “Your parents...just left you?”
    “Yeah, but now I live with Grandpa. I’m happier than I’ve ever been!” Iruma tried to appease his friends, but they still looked disturbed. Clara was plastered to his side, and Azz-kun was hovering around the edges of the bed. “Really guys, It doesn’t bother me anymore. I’m happier here than I ever was there with them. You don’t need to worry.”
    Clara and Azz-kun still seemed deeply disturbed, but they seemed to be willing to drop it. The rest of the afternoon had a tense current to it despite that.
--
    “Do you remember what Iruma-chi said earlier?” Clara would usually use the walk home to mess with Alice, but today she quietly trailed behind him. She’d tried to brush off Iruma’s words when she was playing with him, but it stuck with her.
    “About his parents? Vividly,” Alice, on the other hand, was trying not to combust until they were out of Iruma’s line of sight. “Iruma-sama is the pinnacle of ability and compassion! Any respectable demon would kill to have him as an heir, and those idiots just throw him away!”
    “I can’t even think about my mom doing that to me.” Clara moped as she thought about her own family. Whenever she tried to think of her mom doing that to her, her mind just blanked.
    “I don’t exactly see eye to eye with my mother, but to think that she didn’t even care about me…” Alice had gone from fuming to staring at the ground. Similarly to Clara, he simply couldn’t imagine his parents turning on him. “His grandfather really seems to care about him, though.”
    “Yeah! Iruma-chi doesn’t need those losers! He has everything he needs right here!” Clara declared. She was starting to get pumped up. “We can be all the family he needs!”
    “Valac, you’re on to something! Iruma-sama seems to be doing fine, but it’s our duty as friends to make sure that he has the love and support he needs in life!” Alice yelled. He was blazing with determination, and in his haste, he forgot that Iruma had clearly told them that he was fine with the whole thing.
--
    “Clara, is something going on?” Iruma was getting a little suspicious. Azz-kun and Clara had seemingly been on the same page all day, which was weird in of itself. But now Clara was dragging him off on an ‘adventure’, and Azz-kun hadn’t yelled at her about it. As a matter of fact, he seemed to be as excited as Clara was about all this.
    “Don’t worry Iruma-chi! We’re gonna have fun!” That didn’t calm Iruma down in the slightest, but if Azz-kun seemed okay with it he probably wouldn’t die. He shrugged and let himself be dragged away. Grandpa wasn’t expecting him home for a while, so he could text him once they got to their mystery destination.
“Yes, Iruma-sama! You have nothing to fear?” Well, that sealed it. Iruma was just going to roll with it.
--
    Alice regretted every decision that led him to this personal torture. He should have remembered the festival, but he got swept up in Valac’s enthusiasm and forgot that Valac’s entire family were carbon copies of her.
    “Azz-kun, are you okay? You’re looking a little pale,” Iruma asked.
    “I am quite alright, Iruma-sama!” Alice gripped his cup tighter as one of the boys plastered his uniform with a supply of stickers that he hadn’t been holding a minute ago. His hair had been yanked into braids and tied with bows. Iruma had half a flower garden in his, and a new manicure that was so blinding it gave him a migraine every time he looked at it.
    “If you’re sure, Azz-kun.” Iruma-same gave him a blinding smile and Alice felt better about the whole thing.
    “Dinner’s ready! Everyone gather around!” Valac’s mother swooped in with an entire feast. Iruma-sama’s eyes lit up, and he and Valac shared a look across the table. It appeared that Operation: Home Cooked Meal was a success. Mrs. Valac, who had been informed of their plan, seemed to take great pleasure in lovingly piling more on Iruma-sama’s plate. Time for the next phase!
--
    “Alright, kiddos! Have fun while I’m out! Take care of yourselves!” Valac’s mother gave all the kids one last pat on the head before breezing out the door.
    “Bye-bye!” The Valac children waved after their mother as she made her way to do whatever it was she was doing. Clara spun around and grabbed Iruma-sama by the sleeves while her siblings attached themselves to his legs. “Iruma-chi! Do you want to play now?”
    “Of course! What do you guys usually play when you’re home?” Iruma-sama gave them another beaming smile.
    “It’s a surprise!” Iruma-sama was dragged over to one of the many piles of pillows in a corner of the room. Alice trailed behind them while suppressing the urge to lecture them on their treatment of Iruma-sama. But this part of the operation required authentic sibling bonding, so it would be counterproductive to intervene. But he still made sure to nab the cushion next to Iruma-sama. For all he knew, those little demons had more stickers stuck up their sleeves.
    “Behold! The ultimate sibling experience!” The boys shouted in unison as they raised what looked like an ordinary board game in the air. Iruma-same clapped his hands together.
    “That looks like a lot of fun! How do you play?” Iruma-sama gushed as he praised the little ones.
    “Last one to turn pink wins!” Alice should have been concerned about the helmets that were being passed around, but this was just a board game, right? Surely Clara didn’t really need all those balloons filled with a mystery liquid.
--
    The matriarch of the Valac family sighed and put her head in her hands. She wished she could join in on the fun back home, but it was important for kids to have space to express themselves. And it was her duty as a mother to give the kids the enrichment they need! Her heart went out for that poor Iruma boy, but he seemed to be doing just fine. He had some very caring friends and a home to go back to. But it wouldn’t hurt if she ‘accidentally’ made too much food in the morning and sent Clara to school with an extra bento.
--
    Iruma staggered home, covered in paint and glitter but loving it at the same time. He’d always wondered what having siblings would be like, be he never imagined something so explosive. Though, Clara’s family was probably a special case. The only thing that could top it was spending an evening with his new family.
    “Opera-san? Are you here?” He called out as he stepped through the doors of his home. The cat demon in question appeared at his side and gave him a critical look-over. Her tail twitched, the only sign of her slight displeasure at his appearance. “Sorry I got the uniform dirty.” He gave her a sheepish look as he took his shoes off.
    “Who did this? Do I need to handle them?” She got a slightly dangerous look on her face. “I will inform Lord Sullivan of this if I need to.”
    “Oh no, it’s not like that. I just went to Clara’s house to play and it got a little out of hand. It wasn’t a prank or anything.” Iruma waved his hands in front of his face as he tried to calm her down. “And sorry again about the uniform.”
    “You don’t need to apologize for something like that. I’ll draw a bath for you. Try and brush some of the glitter off in the meantime,” Opera-san reassured him. Her face was still blank, but her tail had stopped lashing around. He took that as a good sign and followed her upstairs.
    “Is grandpa around?”
    “He had some business at the school, but he’ll be home shortly. I believe that he has a surprise for you afterward. “ Iruma cringed slightly. Surprises from Grandpa were always a big deal, but they had a tendency to go overboard. Like his entire first day here, for example. And nearly every day after that.
    “Well, I’m still looking forward to it.”
--
    “Iruma! My precious grandson!” Iruma found himself in a familiar set of arms.
    “Grandpa! How was your day?” He returned the hug with a warm smile.
    “Ahh! You get cuter every time I see you!” Sullivan cooed as he squeezed Iruma tighter.
    “If you’re done, you have something to tell him.” He could always trust Opera-san to be the voice of reason in this household. His grandpa started sparkling at the reminder and he finally released Iruma from his embrace.
    “Your beloved Grandpa has set up a playdate for you! I’ve spoken with their parents and both of your friends are coming over for dinner tomorrow!” Grandpa straightened up and spun around.
    “Wow! Azz-kun and Clara are coming over? I’m so excited!” Iruma gushed and got caught in another hug. Even Opera-kun looked pleased with the situation. His friends had been over to his house before, but they had always just kinda ended up here. The few planned social events were usually class-wide, and while he loved his other friends he looked forward to hanging out with Clara and Azz-kun.
    “My grandson is so cute!”
    “Sir, please let go of Iruma-san so he can eat.”
--
    “Iruma-chi!” Clara sprung forward the instant the door was opened and plastered herself against Iruma’s side. He laughed and patted her head.
    ‘I’m glad you’re here! Have you seen Azz-kun yet?” Iruma looked back out the door and into the woods, trying to spot a flash of pink and white. He saw him a second later when he came barreling into view.
    “Valac! Don’t go running off like that!” He growled at Clara, who was hanging off of Iruma’s arm like a monkey. Clara laughed and ran off farther into Iruma’s house. Azz-kun scowled after her. He bowed deeply. “Iruma-sama, I apologize for her manners. To think that she would disrupt the sanctity of your home,” he growled softly.
    “Don’t worry about it! You know how she is.” Iruma waved his hands in front of his face while he assured his friend. Azz-kun raised himself with a sparkle in his eyes.
    “Iruma-sama is so gracious!” Azz-kun gushed. Iruma felt the urge to slam his face into his hands in embarrassment, but he’d gotten better at handling Azz-kun and had developed something of an immunity.
    “Come on, Azz-kun. The food will get cold.” He shot him a grin while leading his friend down the hall. He was followed by Azz-kun’s fervent compliments.
--
    “Iruma-sama! I will avenge your honor!” Azz-kun shouted as he mashed the buttons on the controller. Clara was perched on the back of the couch like the gremlin she was, and Iruma was enjoying the sight. He’d been knocked out by the boss, so he had a minute or two before he respawned. He took the time to enjoy the atmosphere. Opera-san occasionally popped in with snacks and advice, and Grandpa was lurking in the corner with a camera.
    “This blasted creature!” Azz-kun threw his controller down after his character took a fireball to the face and died.
    “Don’t worry, Azz-kun! The longer you play the easier it gets.” Iruma comforted his friend while he prepared himself to rejoin the game again.
    “You are truly an admirable person to master this blasted device.” And Azz-kun was back to complimenting him. He shot him a quick smile before joining the game again.
    “Well, I play them a lot. Opera-san plays with me every day. It’s not as chaotic as Clara’s games, but it’s nice to just hang out with my family.” Iruma was fully focused on the game at this point, so he missed Azz-kun’s revelation.
--
    “I think we miscalculated,” Alice hissed as soon as he and Valac were out of earshot. He had made sure to properly say goodbye to Iruma-sama and his family, but he had to admit that he rushed a bit. He needed to talk this over with Valac.
    “About Iruma-chi’s family?” Valac had gone quiet, and the whole situation was very reminiscent of the conversation that had started this whole thing. “I felt bad for him because his parents suck, but he seems to be doing alright.”
    “Opera-san and Lord Sullivan gave him everything we thought he was missing,” Alice mussed. Valac latched onto his arm and gave him a look that he assumed was her version of being thoughtful.
    “I guess we don’t need to do anything else,” Valac declared as she danced ahead on the path. Alice instinctively lunged forward to grab her.
    “Well, that’s obvious! Now stop running around!”
