inspired by @hellboys @talesfromthecrypts @pascow
I can't make gifs but I sure do love characters :P For the sake of simplicity I didn't include any old hyperfixations that were reawakened this year (plus I haven't even played BG3 yet but soon) Names of the characters and their piece of media are in the alt text for the images!!
Anyone else who wants to do the thing, go ahead and say I tagged you!! <3

The fact that there are people out here shipping Asha and King Magnifico is just disgusting. There are press releases out there that confirm that Asha is 17.

Asha might not be a princess but she could still be a leader
As I said in a previous post it is 100% confirmed Asha will have no royal status whatsoever in this movie but will still be apart of the Disney princess line, do we have another Mulan situation here? I don’t think so.
So here’s my theory obviously she’s gonna defeat the villain that’s just how Disney movies work, But if she does that then why wouldn’t she take his place and be a princess? if she does good the people would probably want her to be their new ruler. (If they’re not completely politically brainwashed bc I can tell this movie will have political elements)
I love my Disney princesses but monarchy is shit in the real world and I can definitely see her accepting the role of a leader but not a princess or queen. Remember how vanellope changed herself into a president in wreck it Ralph? She could do that!
I want her to abolish/overthrow the monarchy!
I refuse to believe there aren’t racial elements to this movie the king paints this girl as a criminal for calling out how shit his system is and that would be perfect for our next black Disney “princess” to do (EDIT because someone got mad: I’m not calling Magnifico racist I’m talking about subtext in story writing, ashas whole motivation is gonna be about justice and how she wants better for her people)
And we’ve had other “leader” characters in the Disney Princess line, both Moana and Pocahontas are daughters of the chief the odd one out has always been Mulan so my question is… is this a Mulan situation or a Moana one?
EDIT: last night in an interview Ariana DeBose described Asha as and I quote “an all new original character with beautiful brown skin and freckles”. That to me says this will not be a Mulan situation and while I did compare Moana too, from a cultural standpoint she’s a technically a “Princess” since she always knew she’d inherit her island and still has that kind of princess privilege that characters like Tiana and Cinderella didn’t have until the end of their films. I genuinely might be in my own head here but I can’t see this ending any other way and the little hints they drop don’t seem subtle to me as both an artist and story writer

⚠️Spoilers for Wish⚠️
While I am excited for/ planning to watch Disney’s Wish, I honestly wish (heh) they had gone with the original plan for Amaya’s character and made her a villain alongside Magnífico.
Tumblr media
Like, I genuinely think it could’ve been cool to see them as partners in crime and be inspired by classic Disney villain traits: vain, narcissistic, power-hungry, cruel, and enjoyable to hate.
I could’ve seen their relationship as something similar to Scarlett and Herb Overkill from the Minions movie, where it’s two married villains who are clearly terrible people, but are still heads over heels for each other.
I’ve read the golden book and kids book of the movie that some people have uploaded on YouTube, and while those books tend to omit things from the actual film, they give us a basic synopsis of the overall story.
(SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BELOW)
——————
Essentially, the story ends with Magnífico being sucked into his staff, Amaya rules Rosas and Star gives Asha a wishing wand (essentially making her a Fairy Godmother sort of character mixed with elements of Snow White)
It’s a pretty basic, cut-and-dry story and I’m not saying I expected Shakespeare or whatever, but imagine how much better the story would’ve been with both Magnífico and Amaya as the villains:
The story could’ve been that the kingdom of Rosas was ruled by Magnífico and Amaya, who both seemed charming and generous on the outside, but were greedy and self-serving on the inside. They essentially didn’t care for anyone but each other.
I’d also add Amaya’s cat Charo from the concept art book, cause it think it would be cute that these two are absolute shitheads, but are still cat parents who spoil their cat and take it everywhere.
Anyways… Magnífico, like in the actual story, only granted the wishes that benefited him (and his wife), while the majority of wishes were stashed away in his tower.
Asha wants to become Magnífico’s apprentice and when introduced to the wishes, wants to grant her grandfather’s wish and finds the kings (and queens) whole wish-granting system unfair to the people (again, like the canon material).
The story would then go like the actual movie: Asha makes a wish on a Star and Magnífico sees her as a threat to his power and hunts her down (only with Amaya by his side).
I’d like to think that while Magnífico has his moments where his true personality shines, I feel like Amaya wouldn’t truly snap until the very end, having a little more composure than her husband (similarly to the Evil Queen or Maleficent or Ursula)
In the end, the King and Queen are defeated and banished into Magnífico’s staff. Asha is named the new Princess of Rosas (or Queen, whichever you prefer), and she actually joins the Disney Princess lineup and it’s not just advertisement. Like the real story, Star gives her a wand and Asha becomes the new wish-granter.
It’s not perfect, but I think it may have been more interesting and entertaining to see rather than the typical director the creators went with the story
These are just my thoughts, however, I’m still gonna watch the movie and see I think about it.

THE WISHES GIVEN TO KING MAGNIFICO ARE ALL GOOD-INTENTIONED
✨——————————
When reading comments and analysis about Wish, many people assume that some wishes are bad or ill-intentioned. For example someone would say “What if someone’s wish was to kill?”
No, the wishes aren’t like that. This isn’t a post in defense of Asha’s point (though you can easily do so with this), but rather just a clarification for what the wishes given to King Magnifico are. It’s proven in the movie, too.
Tumblr media
To start, wishes aren’t just ideas. Killing is an idea. But is it a part of your heart? No. If you were blood-thirsty or something and really wanted to do that, then first- get some help. Second, this is a kids’ movie. Third, Rosas is meant to be a safe haven for those who want to live in such a place. People GO THERE to be safe. If King Magnifico saw that someone really was blood-thirsty, do you really think he’d let them stay there? No.💀 He wouldn’t even look at all the wishes with a loving expression if some of them were actually BAD.
Take the woman’s wish was to fly for example. Talking more about how wishes aren’t just ideas but a part of your heart, it looks like the woman wanted to fly with birds, or just fly in general. Is that really what she wanted from face value? No, I really don’t think so. The flying could be a metaphor for being free, to travel, to experience things… you can interpret it into almost anything! (That’s what Magnifico did which led him to not grant a lot of wishes, but I’ll get into the downside of their given wishes soon). That’s why the woman wasn’t disappointed by the idea of a flying machine. She didn’t want to simply just fly with the birds- she wanted to travel, or experience freedom in the air, or something just as wonderful like those things. I’ll add “Interpretations of Each Wish in Wish” post to my list of other posts I’ve said I’d possibly make.
Oh! And let’s bring up what *Magnifico* said what wishes are. He said that they’re not just ideas, but what else? A part of your heart, but what part?
“They are a part of your heart. The very best part.”
The wishes are all good-intentioned. They mean well and are from the purest, bestest part of a person’s heart. From their soul more to speak. This proves that they aren’t even common wishes either. Like money, for example, people live in Rosas which is a rent-free currency(?)-free kingdom. There is no need for money all that much, so what would be the point in wishing for more money? Go to timestamp 0:20 until 0:30 to prove that the given wishes aren’t just bland.
youtube
And some people might say “The movie only shows the good wishes to prove Asha’s point that the people of Rosas are good. There could be bad wishes floating around somewhere.” The people of Rosas aren’t good. No one is just ‘good’. What Asha may of been saying is that the people of Rosas are good-INTENTIONED. A little greedy and ignorant and entitled, admittedly, but they don’t mean any harm. But ‘good-intentioned‘ would just further prove my point that the wishes themselves are good-intentioned.
Besides, if King Magnifico says that the wishes are “everything” and that “they’re the best part of your heart” then we should take his word for it. He has the wishes and knows more about them, so why should we deny that?
Tumblr media
Another thing I want to bring up is that just because the wishes are good-intentioned, it doesn’t mean that they can’t be dangerous. A wish could be good-intentioned, but vague- like Sabino’s. A good wish can have consequences almost like a bad wish. It’s more-so a *probability* that a good wish would end up with negative consequences, but a bad wish always ends up with negative consequences.
So my point is that the wishes are all good-intentioned, but some may just be too vague to be considered safe. The people of Rosas don’t seek to cause harm. But they sure are ignorant.
Tumblr media
That’s one of the reasons why Magnifico doesn’t grant a lot of wishes. It’s not because some wishes are BAD, it is because some wishes are VAGUE or NOT WELL THOUGHT OUT. Whether or not another reason why he wouldn’t grant a lot of wishes was because he wanted undeniable control and power is up to interpretation. I don’t really care for that bit.
Finally- and this is just a nitpick about the movie- “What about the wish of someone wanting a nanny for their horribly behaved children? Is that really a best part of a person’s heart?”Yeah, that’s a dumb wish. It really downgrades the purpose of the wishes in this case, so I don’t know why Disney would’ve done that. For an easter egg, yeah, but they just underwhelmed their own movie even more with this detail.

Asha has now been confirmed to not have any royal status in the upcoming Disney film “wish” and I worry people will be ungrateful again. I think about characters like Tiana and the musician from Soul and how they where made, written and designed by black people and people still tried to cry racism because they weren’t a human the whole film, ignoring the major fact they can’t be humans the entire film because then the movie wouldn’t exist the ungratefulness is pathetic. The black community (rightfully) complained for years and finally got a princess and that for some reason wasn’t enough for a very few amount of people, and I know when a lot more people figure out she will be just like mulan with no royal status they’re going to complain racially and say things like “the only other black princess we have isn’t even a princess” which is completely not okay and I don’t care if you’re black white or purple saying that is racist asf.
I’m native Canadian and the only princess that comes close is Pocahontas who is native American and yes the cultures are pretty different if you squint, so honeymaren from frozen is the only representation we really get so maybe put yourself in another races shoes because it’s not just black people who want to be represented. In fact black, white and Hispanic people are most commonly represented in media, black people aren’t the minority anymore when it comes to mainstream media and Hollywood they’re actually very commonly represented compared to other non white races
Asha is still an official Disney princess, which is a confusing line because not even Anna and Elsa are “official” Disney princesses. One of the reasons the Disney princess line exists is for park and cruising reasons, if you do activities like see a Disney princess only themed parade or the breakfast with princesses that they do in their hotel you will see only 13 official princesses.. (14 soon since Asha is already at epcot) 💜✨
Tumblr media
✨💜 “Asha is the first animation to mix 2D with 3D and will be the second official black princess in the Disney princess franchise” 💜✨
