——————
I don’t know who needs to hear this (*cough* TB stans *cough*) but Aegon has always had a stronger claim that Rha*nyra.
According to Andal law, a son comes before a daughter, and a niece comes before an uncle. The only time Rha*nyra had a strong claim was when she was Vis*rys’s only living child. No one wanted Da*mon on the IT because they knew that he would essentially be a second Maegor (or worse). Not only was Rha*nyra more well liked at the time, but in accordance to the law, she had a stronger claim that Da*mon.
At the end of the day, Rha*nyra being named heir had nothing to do with Rha*nyra. In the book, she was named heir so that Da*mon wouldn’t become king, and in the show, she was named heir because of Vis*rys’s guilt for killing Aemma. It was never about her. But, once Rha*nyra heard her daddy name her his successor, she rolled with it and refused to give up her claim. Which again, at the time, was at its strongest.
That is, until Vis*rys married Alicent and had Aegon.
Otto states that the succession changed the second Aegon was born, and although Otto isn’t the easiest man to like, he wasn’t wrong. As soon as Vis*rys fathered a living son, Rha*nyra was brought down from being first in line, to being second in line, with Da*mon now being third in line.
Now GRRM harkened back to Henry VIII and the succession crisis regarding his three living children (Mary, Elizabeth, and Edward), and states that Edward was third in line but was to become king first.
There’s just one problem. There was no succession crisis.
Edward, despite his age, was ALWAYS first in line for the throne. Everyone and their mother knew the second he was born, he would be Henry’s heir. Henry removed Mary and Elizabeth from the succession and denounced them as illegitimate because he annulled his marriages to his first and second wives, Catherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn.
Mary and Elizabeth were only returned to the succession through the Third Succession Act of 1543 because Henry did not father anymore sons, and he needed spares should anything happen to Edward. But Edward remained first in line nonetheless, whereas Mary and Elizabeth followed right after despite both of them being older.
Because of Aegon’s birth, Rha*nyra’s claim has weakened substantially, and while it’s still stronger than Da*mon’s, people will naturally gravitate towards Aegon due to the majority of Westeros, save for Dorne, following male primogeniture.
If Vis*ys really wanted to strengthen his daughters claim and instill her as heir, then he would’ve never remarried and had sons. He would’ve helped Rha*nyra gain allies, and teach her how to rule. But he didn’t. He just named her heir and that’s it.
Which is why Vis*rys still wanting Rha*nyra to be his successor despite having Aegon is stupid, because the law dictates that Aegon is first in line. And Vis*rys never changed the laws of succession, he only wanted his daughter to be the exception.
Now if this were Dorne, where absolute primogeniture is practiced, then Rha*nyra would most certainly be the uncontested heir. But since she’s not Dornish, Rha*nyra’s claim to the IT is weaker than Aegon’s. And it only gets weaker once Vis*rys sires two more sons following Aegon.
With the births of Aegon, Aemond, and Daeron, Rha*nyra is pushed even further down the line of succession. And when Aegon has two legitimate sons of his own (Jaehaerys and Maelor), she’s pushed even further down the line.
It’s why Da*mon groomed and married her: so he would get closer to the throne. But even with their claims combined, and despite the fact that they have Aegon III and Viserys II, Aegon’s claim is still strong.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but this is what the succession should look like:
Aegon II—>Jaehaerys—>Maelor—>Aemond—>Daeron—>Rha*nyra—>Aegon III—>Viserys II—>Helaena—>Jaehaera—>Da*mon
Fans can scream about how Rha*nyra and the Blacks had more houses supporting them during the Dance (which realistically doesn’t make a lick of sense), but it doesn’t change the fact that Aegon has always had the stronger claim.
You can say that she was usurped all you want, but it doesn’t mean that Aegon didn’t have a claim to the throne. If anything, he had the strongest claim of them all.
And not only that, but Aegon had legitimate sons as his heirs, unlike Rha*nyra, who was trying to pass off her illegitimate bastard sons as her heirs, despite it being very illegal.
People say that Jace, Luke, and Joff were fighting for their claims when… they literally had no claims to begin with. They’re illegitimate bastards who shouldn’t be anywhere near the line of succession. Just because they have the last name Velaryon and Laenor “accepted” them, doesn’t suddenly make them legitimate.
That’s like that saying that because Joffrey, Myrcella, and Tommen had the last name Baratheon, it suddenly means they were Robert’s trueborn children, when we know they weren’t.
All in all, Vis*rys was the real reason for the Dance happening, all because he couldn’t make up his mind about the succession and was politically inept. And no, him marrying Laena wouldn’t have stopped the Dance from happening because there still would’ve been a chance that Laena birthed a son (or sons).

Finally drew my version of human!Star, which I named Earendel (Earen for short), after the farthest star from the Earth. The concept art book says that Starboy would be inspired by Peter Pan and the Genie, so I gave Earen Peter’s ears and the pants and shoes of Genie. I also drew him wearing purple to make him stand out more, and to show his connection to Asha since purple and yellow are complimentary colors.
I fancast his voice actor to be Avan Jogia, who some of you might know as Beck from Victorious. Idk that’s just the voice I envision my Star having. Also he’s a pretty good singer.
Also, movie!Star (or plushie!Star as I call it) is here because I kept the trend of sidekicks with Asha and Valentino and Magnifico and Amaya with Charo. Plushie!Star is a baby star whereas Earen is a teenage star, around the same age as Asha in human years.
I’ll write more about them in my rewrite of Wish, which you can read here.
You can also see my redesigns of Asha and Magnifico and Amaya here

hey! so i saw your wish rewrite outline, and i absolutely love every concept you came up with and i'm excited to see that you're turning into a fic!! i also saw that you own the wish art book and was hoping i could ask you something about it: does it actually say that star was intended to be asha's love interest at one point, or is that just fan speculation? not to say that if it's not mentioned in the book then it's not still possible! i'm just curious if it's something we know for sure because i've only seen the pages that mention how one version of him was a representation of her grandfather. also, does it say anything about what the story might have been like when star was human? because i imagine that whether he was ever written as asha's love interest or not, turning him into a cute little marketable plushie must have changed things quite a bit. thank you in advance if you choose to answer this.
Hello!👋🏼I’m glad you enjoyed the rewrite, which I did not expect to get so traction😅 I don’t know if you’ve seen the post I made with the link, but if not, here’s the actual fanfic, which currently has the prologue and first chapter!
But to answer you’re question: from what I’ve read, the concept art book just says that Asha and Star are “soulmates”, but whether or not they’re talking about human!Star or plushie!Star, it’s unclear. There’s also not a lot talking about what Star’s role would’ve been when he was still human.
The creators just mention that they were afraid human!Star would be too similar to the Genie, which is when they supposedly starting taking inspiration from classic Mickey cartoons to redesign Star into what he looks like now.
Hopefully that answers your question!😁

Hey I really like your rewrite of Wish! I think one fun idea would be Magnifico representing Classic Disney villains, and then having Queen Amaya be a modern, twist villain. Everyone thinks she's innocent and ignorant of her husband's descent into dark magic, and she even offers to help the heroes. Only she leads them into a trap, revealing herself as part of his schemes. Cue Disney's first Villain Love Duet! (Which could be a reprise of a love ballad between Asha and Earen)
Personally I would just have Amaya be a villain from the start since I’m not really of fan of the Disney twist villains, but your idea of a villain duet is great!
Considering both Magnifico and Amaya’s voice actors sing quite well, the power a duet between them would’ve held😍😍😍
We truly were robbed😫

why are they hardly any official main couples
Cause modern Disney is allergic to love stories I guess🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
Cause the modern perception in Hollywood nowadays is that a woman is considered weak when she’s in love, especially when she’s in love with a man, despite the fact that there’s nothing wrong with a woman having a male love interest🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
Perhaps cause Disney clearly only cares about money nowadays and plays it safe with their films, I mean have you’ve seen their live action remakes than literally no one asked for🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Is there reason they deleted human star. They said he looked like her grandfather who was dead in the concept. So maybe they didn’t want to make it creepy
That was only ONE of the ideas for Star. One of the plans was that Star was going to take the form of a young Sabino, but that just of the ideas that got scrapped.
If they didn’t wanna make it creepy, then maybe, idk, don’t design human Star after Sabino. It’s really that simple, the creators just didn’t want to commit to a love story, took the safe route like modern Disney does now, and made Star into a marketable plushie.
((Yes I agree that Star is cute, but I forever mourn what we could’ve gotten))

why didn’t they only make the king the villain. were they too afraid kids will think all queens are evil
According to an interview, Jennifer Lee was afraid people would think Wish was “criticizing the monarchy” or some bullshit like that.
While yes, fuck the monarchy, it’s the same thing I said in my ask about Star:
Kids👏🏼aren’t👏🏼going👏🏼to👏🏼care👏🏼
I’ve talked extensively about it how disappointed I was they didn’t go with the original idea of making Magnifico and Amaya a villain couple. Not only would it have been a much better dynamic (compared to the final product where they barely interact save for one cute scene), but Amaya would’ve at least had a personality, unlike in the movie where she’s just… there
Fans of Disney would’ve loved to see a villain couple with their pet cat who adored each other whilst being unabashedly evil. Hell, Tumblr would’ve eaten that shit up
But alas, Disney played it safe and we got… Magnifico striking Amaya with evil magic in the climax and them barely speaking to each other.
…I hate it here🙃

Why did they have to make the stupid star marketable and cute and cuddwy
According to the concept art book, Star was designed after the classic pupil-less Mickey design used from the late 20s all the way to the late 30s when he was finally given pupils by artist Floyd Gottfredson.
While it may sound admirable and a nice homage to the literal mascot of Disney, it’s so obvious why the creators made this choice: to sell toys.
The creators also said that they were afraid that shapeshifting Star would be too much like the Genie or something, but like… it’s not wrong to take inspiration from that character.
Star was originally going to be inspired by the Genie and Peter Pan, and even possibly be Asha’s live interest, but the idea was scrapped for the more “marketable” version.
My version of the story has both the cute version and shapeshifter version of Star, albeit the human version goes by Earen after the star Earendel, and Earen is Asha’s love interest.
Was it really so hard for Disney to incorporate both versions? Like deadass, we haven’t had a focal Disney Princess love story since Princess and the Frog and Tangled. No, I don’t count Frozen cause the main focus was Anna and Elsa.
Are they just allergic to love stories and taking risks now? Kids aren’t gonna care that Star took inspiration from Genie and Pan, they’re just gonna see a new character they can have fun with and a new (potential) Disney Prince to join the lineup.
And fans/the internet were just gonna see a new couple they can ship (if the relationship was done right that is). That’s it.

will valentino sound like a kid. the final project is like if samuel l jackson voiced russell in up or morgan freeman voicing the powerpuff girls
If you’re referring to my Wish rewrite outline I posted, then personally, I would just have Valentino not talk at all. No offense to the voice actor, he’s talented and funny, but I just feel like Valentino is cuter silent. And less annoying.
Not every Disney sidekick needs to be Olaf🙃

Wish Rewrite
I have this tendency for rewriting material I either don’t like or think had wasted potential. At the time of writing this, Wish hasn’t come out in theaters but I did pirate it as there was an early screening. I also read the junior novelization and bought the concept art book. Needless to say, I was disappointed by what I read/saw.
I feel like Wish could’ve been better. Granted, the story and characters are not terrible, but they certainly leave much to be desired. This is literally Disney’s 100th anniversary, yet it doesn’t really feel like it. Not only that, but the movie felt incredibly rushed. Yeah I know that most Disney movies try have a run time of 90-100+ minutes, but I think a few more minutes could’ve been added to this film.
So, I decided to indulge myself and outline some changes that I think could’ve made the story slightly better. These ideas are by no means perfect, and in the end, this is all in good fun.
Spoilers ahead btw
The main story of Wish is essentially that Asha wants to get a job as Magnifico’s apprentice so that her grandfather’s wish is granted. But Asha finds out about the King’s true nature, and after questioning him, doesn’t get the job, and Magnifico vows to never grant Sabino or Sakina’s wishes.
Asha makes a wish on a star, and the star comes down, Magnifico tries to hunt down the two of them, he uses an evil spell book to create a staff, Magnifico destroys some wishes, Asha gets help from her friends, they sing a song to defeat Magnifico (I ‘wish’ i was joking), Star gives Asha a magic wand, and all is well.
Oh, and Amaya is… there.
It’s nothing complex, pretty cut and dry. And I don’t have a problem with a simple story! But this feels like it’s… missing something.
Firstly, I’d change the title. Disney already has a boat called Wish, and not every movie needs to be one word like Tangled, Frozen, and Brave (amongst others), so the story could be renamed “Asha and the Wishing Star” or “Asha and the Kingdom of Wishes”. Idk, something that evokes a classic fairytale book feel (or that does confuse people with a boat).
((Side note #1: I honestly enjoy that the story started off with a book, as a nod to classic disney movies, especially Snow White. That was cute))
Secondly, and I know I sound like a broken record at this point…
AMAYA👏🏼SHOULDVE👏🏼BEEN👏🏼A👏🏼VILLAIN👏🏼ALONGSIDE👏🏼HER👏🏼HUSBAND👏🏼
The original plan, according to the concept art book, was to have Magnifico and Amaya to be a villain couple who were partners in crime and owned a black sphinx cat named Charo. However for… reasons, the creators took the ‘safe’ route and made Amaya the good one out of the two.
But the problem is, by erasing Amaya’s evilness, the creators of Wish essentially removed any purpose or personality she may have had and thus, she was left to become a literal ‘supporting’ character. First supporting both Magnifico and Asha, then leaving Magnifico to prop up solely Asha.
Deadass, you can literally remove Amaya from the story and nothing would change. Which is probably why she was exempt from much of the promotional stuff minus the dolls. Because she literally serves no purpose but to be… there.
So, in my version of Wish, Amaya would be a co-conspirator to her husband and yes, I’m adding Charo too. Her personality would be inspired by classic female villains such as the Evil Queen from Snow White, Lady Tremaine from Cinderella, and Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty.
Vain, glamorous, cunning, and unabashedly evil, Amaya would be the Morticia to Magnifico’s Gomez, the brains to his brawn. She’s the girlboss, he’s the wife instigator. Magnifico spoils Amaya rotten with countless gifts and praises, whilst Amaya is the more calm and collected evil compared to her husband’s ever-growing temper.
While she starts the story with no magic, Magnifico just can’t leave his wife hanging and shares the power of the evil spell-book with Amaya. And yes, even Charo gets in on the fun, turning from a small house cat, to a massive shape-shifting beast who breaths blue fire similarly to a dragon (shut up i think it’d be cool)
Magnifico and Amaya essentially keep the wishes of Rosas locked in the castle as a form of obedience. By giving the citizens false hope, it makes them more dependent on the royal couple, and the two have more power over everyone.
Anyways, let’s get to the main characters: Asha and Star.
I don’t have much of an issue with Asha’s character, more so her design. I already made a post showing my redesign of her, so that’s out of the way. Tbh tho, I also have an issue with the rest of the costume design of Wish, being a big costume nerd myself. The movie’s supposed to take inspiration from the Mediterranean, primarily places such as Spain and Morocco (and the Amazigh people for Asha), but the fashion feels like generic European medieval fashion.
I feel like the whole storyline of Asha’s interview with Magnifico was pretty pointless, so I would have it that she just starts off as the kings apprentice, whilst also working as Amaya’s scullery maid.
The couple took Asha in when the girl lost her father at the age of 12 (according to the film), and she’s been working for them for five years. Asha works not only to support herself, her family, and her community, but also as a way to distract from the grief of losing her father. Which is no issue, as Amaya always bombards the girl with chores, and Magnifico only teaches Asha the most basic of magic for fear of her growing more powerful than him.
I made Asha work as a scullery maid not only as a reference to princesses such as Snow White and Cinderella starting off their respective stories as maids, but also because scullery maids acted as assistants to the kitchen maids. Dahlia works in the kitchen, Asha and Dahlia are best friends, I figured it made sense.
But anyways, on the day of Sabino’s 100th birthday, Sakina tells Asha to take a break and return home, as she hardly visits anymore due to work. Asha says she’ll try asking the king and queen to get off early, but that she can’t make any promises.
Asha meets with Magnifico and asks for the day off, but the king refuses. However, wanting to keep her loyalty, Magnifico finally shows Asha the wish chamber, and even allows her to witness the wish ceremony that night. But once Asha starts questioning the king on his methods, any goodwill between them begins to fade.
Another thing I’m disappointed in, is that originally Star was going to be a shapeshifting humanoid inspired by the Genie and Peter Pan, and may have even had a romance with Asha. But, the idea was scrapped for the more cutesy, ‘marketable’, version of Star.
In my retelling, I’d choose to do this human shapeshifter version of Star, but I’d name him something else. The star Earendel was mentioned in the concept art book, which is the farthest known star from Earth and not only means ‘morning star’ in Old English, but is also named after the Tolkien character, Eärendil.
I would call this shapeshifter Star Earen, and because Disney loves their animal/cute sidekicks, Earen can have the ‘Kirby’ Star as a companion, just like how Asha has Valentino and Magnifico and Amaya have Charo.
((Side #2: Anybody else notice that Star lowkey looks and sounds like Kirby😶))
Earen and Star journey down to Rosas once they hear Asha’s pleas for guidance. Once Asha tells of Magnifico and Amaya’s lies, Earen reveals that he actually met Magnifico decades ago. The amount of years shocks Asha, as she realizes that the King and Queen might be far older than what they are.
((Side note #3: I didn’t realize this till someone mentioned it, but if Sabino is 100 and he gave Magnifico his wish at 18, then he’s been waiting 82 years for his wish to be granted. Which means it’s likely that Magnifico might be immortal. That, or Disney didn’t think this shit through (most likely)))
Anyways, Earen actually attempted to stop Magnifico and Amaya’s ploy to keep the wishes of Rosas locked away, but he was sealed within the heavens until he and Star heard Asha make her wish.
We can have it that the king and queen spun the story so that Earen was made out to be an evil that once threatened Rosas, but Magnifico banished him and saved everyone, essentially making himself out to be the good guy and manipulating the narrative.
Asha and Earen must now work together to expose the lies of the royal couple, and along the way, the two begin to fall in love. Earen disguises himself as a peasant boy so as to remain inconspicuous, while Asha tries to go about her job as if nothing happened, evading the King and Queen’s suspicions.
Star gives Asha a stick infused with stardust once finding out she is, quite literally, the sorcerers apprentice. It is also so that she may defend herself, as Earen has his powers and a sword (similarly to Peter Pan).
Unlike Magnifico, Earen and Star teach Asha the wonders of magic and the potential she wields, showing that there is no need for her to hold back when her gift can help so many, including those she loves.
The three manage to sneak into the kings study, but only have time to retrieve Sabino’s wish and return it to him. However, Magnifico and Amaya, now strengthened by the powers of dark magic, find Asha and Earen and threaten to destroy all the wishes should Earen not surrender to them.
And as a way to ensure that Asha doesn’t foil their plans, Magnifico destroys both Asha and Sakina’s wishes, despite Asha not being eighteen yet. However, the evil magic allows him to do so. This act weakens the two women, and infuriates Earen.
Earen then willingly complies despite Asha’s opposition, and Sabino takes Asha and Sabina to the seven (well six) teens for aid, who are in hiding after Simon ratted them out and who now serves as a puppet to the king and queen.
Despite loosing her wish, Asha finds the strength to carry on through the memory of her late father, enlisting the help of her friends and Star, who managed to evade the royal couple’s grasp. The team must work together to save Earen, whose power will be drained by Magnifico and Amaya. And if such a feat were to happen, then Earen would die and Rosas would be lost.
The five teens go into the woods to distract one of the royals, with the aid of the forest fauna and Star. Amaya chases the group alongside Charo while Magnifico tortures Earen and begins stealing his power. With the help of Dahlia, Asha sneaks into the castle to confront her former mentor and save Earen before it’s too late.
At first, it seems that the heroes have the upper hand with Magnifico neutralized, but then, Amaya swoops in riding Charo, who now takes the form of a giant dragon. Earen transforms into a dragon himself and battles Charo and Amaya, while Asha continues battling Magnifico. Star even comes to help after the original plan fails.
However, the unholy trio have the upper hand, and Amaya strikes down Earen, giving Magnifico enough time to not only drain Earen’s power, but to trap Star within his staff. With their combined powers, Magnifico and Amaya gather all of the peoples wishes, even stealing the wishes of those not yet of age, which includes the teens.
With all the wishes gathered, the couple and their pet destroy all the wishes, taking their energy for themselves.
Asha falls into despair as she watched her friends, love ones, and community succumb to the grief of loosing their wishes. The king and queen force Asha to apologize to the people, mocking her and making her feel even more guilty.
However, Earen comforts Asha despite his weak state, telling her it’s alright and that she shouldn’t be ashamed of wishing on Star, as he brought the two of them together. The two kiss, the strength of their newfound love and hope shining through the darkness and inspiring the people of Rosas to rise up.
As the sky and stars become alive, Magnifico’s staff is destroyed, releasing Star in the process. All the evil magic he, Amaya, and Charo used is sucked out of them and vanquished, and Earen is restored to full vitality.
Think of this as the transformation scene from Princess and the Frog. Asha and Earen get new outfits, with Asha even gaining a crown and a new wand from Star.
((Side Note #4: The “transformation” in the finale of the film is so stupid. Asha could’ve literally gotten a new dress once she becomes a fairy godmother, but instead, Star just made her sparkly. How magical🙄))
Rosas rejoices, as they realize they don’t need the king to make their wishes come true, and they can pursue them themselves. With Magnífico and Amaya banished from Rosas, Asha and Earen become the new rulers, being names Prince and Princess respectively.
And that’s basically how I would’ve done Wish. It’s not perfect, but it’s just an idea. I’m just disappointed that Disney do something better for their 100th anniversary.

Unlike Asha, I didn’t have an issue with Magnifico and Amaya’s designs, but I couldn’t help myself and redesigned their outfits, which I mainly took inspiration from the concept art book. I also designed some evil outfits for them when they use the evil spell book, but I’ll post that another time.
I’ve talked about how super disappointed I was that these two weren’t made into a villain couple, so in my version of the story, Magnifico and Amaya are partners in crime who take the wishes of the people of Rosas to keep their loyalty and obedience.
Asha works as Magnifico’s apprentice and Amaya’s scullery maid, although the King barely teaches Asha magic as he doesn’t want her becoming more powerful than him, and Amaya would essentially be like the Evil Queen/Lady Tremaine to Asha’s Snow White/Cinderella, where she constantly gives the girl chores to do and sees her as nothing but a servant.
These two would totally have Gomez and Morticia vibes, except if Gomez and Morticia were an evil royal couple who also owned a cat that they spoiled like crazy and treated it like it was their child. Yes, I added the deleted cat Charo and despite me not being able to draw animals for shit, he came out alright😅
I feel that by changing Amaya’s character from villain to hero, the creators honestly made her pretty boring. I read the novel for Wish, and she’s just kinda… there. Like you could literally remove Amaya and nothing would change.
But anyways, Magnifico would be the hotheaded, impulsive one of the two, whereas Amaya would the more levelheaded, devious one who wouldn’t snap till the very end. Magnifico is the brawn, Amaya is the brain.
Both very vain, very terrible, and very much in love🥰

I wasn’t a fan of Asha’s dress, mainly because it feels plain and the skirt is kinda stiff, so I decided to do a redesign.
The concept art book says that her design was inspired by Moroccan and Amazigh fashion, but it doesn’t really show in the final version, so the dress has Moroccan inspiration and the jewelry has slight Amazigh influence. I kept some elements from the original design and added some elements from the concept art.
I also added hair accessories to Asha’s braids cause I’m upset they took them out. You can’t really see them cause of the shading, but they’re there lol.
I’m also planning on posting a rewrite of the story, but essentially, Asha in this version is already working as Magnífico’s apprentice and also as Amaya’s scullery maid (as a reference to Snow White and Cinderella being maids too)
I’ll post my redesigns of Magnífico and Amaya later, so be on the lookout for that😉
