I'm so glad I caved and got city of ghosts bc regardless of how I feel abt it I can now spend a week playing cloudpunk without restarting as opposed to just like. 4 nights at most

#i DO like city of ghosts it's just. a very different vibe story-wise. #it's def not the same level of chill as base game cloudpunk #but i do still love it #plus. it gave us canon aro rania which i will hold near and dear to my heart forever #and i do like that our choices actually have some effect on the game now lol #and hayse grew on me. he may only take up like a third of the gameplay but it's fine i don't mind him #im in my second playthrough of city of ghosts rn and im trying to do all the choices i didn't take last game #oof the choice near the end of helping rania or hayse's dying ex first... i chose rania the first time purely bc game reasons #but im glad I'll be seeing his ex first this time. bc god that was a hard choice #and holy shit the first scene w archo and baz... gave me a goddamn heart attack the first time i played it bc i had. no idea #and i chose the normal ending for it last time not what i assume is rania ascending to like a higher plane of existence #so that's waiting for me at the end of this run and im intrigued to see how that wraps it up #city of ghosts is a lot more emotionally intense than base cloudpunk. not a bad thing but... certainly A Point Of It

LOONAverse timeline theory - Breakdown (Part 5)

Well, we’ve finally made it to the final chapter of my timeline breakdown. It’s time to talk about the union of LOONA!

...

Chapter 5 - LOONA, united

All girls on Earth, and the moon that LOONA dreams of

After finding Yeojin in the forest, the 1/3 members return to Earth and wait for the Odd Eye girls.

Haseul and Yeojin have happily reunited.

Yves, Chuu, and Gowon are on Earth, and Olivia is searching for them. However, she still has some reluctance in joining the others. More on that in a bit.

The Odd Eye girls arrive on Earth, Kim Lip and Choerry working together to find the other girls, while Jinsoul is on her own.

Hyunjin and Choerry finally meet each other, and the two embrace.

Yves, Chuu, and Gowon sense that they found each other.

Kim Lip finds and meets Heejin.

Odd Eye Circle find Olivia, possibly helping her to find the other yyxy members, and maybe also to gain Olivia’s trust so she can unite with everyone else. 

(Notice that they timed the camera to show Jinsoul facing Olivia, just as Kim lip sings “It’s you”. 😲 Reestablishing Jinsoul and Olivia’s connection.)

Olivia finds Yves, and takes a leap of faith to reunite with her, Chuu, and Gowon.

The 12 girls united complete the moon in the sky of their shared world. The moon that LOONA dreams of.

But wait, who exactly is LOONA?

(Okay, I’m not stupid, I know that LOONA is the name of the group. 😂 Just hear me out.)

I think “LOONA” is referring to more than just these 12 girls. Yes, they were chosen by destiny to unite. They are LOONA.

But I don’t think it’s just them.

I believe that “LOONA” is the name of the true God of the LOONAverse.

I know that the popular theory is that Heejin is the God and creator of the LOONAverse, but honestly, I just see her as a normal girl who was chosen to fulfill a greater destiny, just like the other members.

And it was LOONA, the God (or maybe even Goddess) of the world Heejin and the others exist in, who chose them to do such.

The presence of some divine power existing in the LOONAverse can be seen in several music videos.

Some videos appear to have human embodiments of the Goddess, as if she’s watching over them in a mortal form.

From the headmistress of the boarding school in Eden...

To the woman in black we see in Heejin’s “ViViD”.

And in “Eclipse” we see shots of Kim Lip with a red halo of light around her head. Perhaps this is her connecting to the Goddess.

In fact, maybe the Goddess even took the forms of some of the girls’ representative animals.

Such as the cat that connects Gowon and Hyunjin.

Or the owl who guides Kim Lip to Choerry.

It might even be possible that the reason these 12 girls were chosen is because they embody aspects of the Goddess herself.

The ambitious dreamer...

The timid observer...

The mature, motherly side...

And the childish, youthful side...

The desire to love and live...

The duality of the human heart...

Passionate like red...

Cool like blue...

And the feelings of faith...

Love...

Hope...

Even anger.

But most importantly, LOONA the Goddess is represented by the moon. The moon that’s always present in the group’s opening logo.

The girls didn’t just unite to complete the moon of their universe. They united to complete the heart of the Goddess. Because they were all a part of her.

They are LOONA; they were destined to find each other, to unite, and break the loop.

And now they’re getting ready to reach greater heights.

Fly high

Now that the girls have united, they get ready to run in unison, to reach a higher goal they could never achieve alone.

There is determination...

But also anxiety.

Olivia still has doubt in her mind, but she’s taken a leap of faith and putting her trust in everyone. Once that decision was made, there’s no turning back.

Then, they start running...

Reach for the sky...

And start flying.

Their goal is just within their grasp... But then, something stops them.

They start going backwards, as if falling. Time has been rewound, like a cassette tape, and the loop has started again.

So what was missing?

The shadows and the mirror/dream world

Something that we previously established through the other girls is that there is another side of the Moebius, the mirror world, where the shadows of the 12 girls reside.

These shadows are the embodiments of the girls’ deepest, truest selves, that exist deep within their hearts.

The shadows may often appear in the girls’ dreams, or sometimes even appear right in front of them, and can represent many different things.

Sometimes, they reflect how the girls view themselves, such as with Hyunjin.

Sometimes, they represent the person they want to become, such as with Heejin and Yeojin.

Some girls share a deep connection with their shadows, such as Kim Lip, Choerry, and Gowon.

However, some have rejected their shadows, like Haseul.

For Jinsoul and Olivia, their shadows represent a darkness within them. Jinsoul was able to resist giving into her darkness, but Olivia was consumed by it.

Sometimes they represent their past selves, such as Chuu and ViVi, before undergoing a great change.

In ViVi’s case, her shadow is her human self, who has appeared in her dreams of her warped human memories.

While Chuu’s past self “died” after she rejected Eden to be with Yves.

But Yves has cut ties with her past self altogether, as she wanted to leave behind her former life in Eden.

If they want to break free of the time loop, they must all unite with their shadows. If they cannot accept the deepest parts of themselves, even their flaws and past selves, they won’t be able to break free of the cycle of turmoil.

Gowon and the butterfly effect

Knowing that Haseul has been suffering due to rejecting her own shadow, and also feeling deep remorse for abandoning Olivia in Eden, Gowon makes the decision to go to the past so she can heal Haseul and fix her past mistake.

She awakens first in Iceland, chasing after the yellow truck that Haseul is in to try and stop her from killing the white bird. But she isn’t able to catch up and collapses.

As the sun rises, we see another Gowon has emerged from the sleeping Gowon and is headed towards where Haseul went.

This is actually Gowon’s shadow, who emerged from her so she could help the real Gowon heal Haseul.

As Gowon sleeps, her shadow arrives at the crashed plane where Haseul became confronted by her shadow.

At the crash site, she finds a white bird feather and takes it in her hands, initiating the butterfly effect so that the bird could be saved from its fate and prevented Haseul from rejecting her shadow.

And when she opens her hands again...

12 butterflies fly away, free.

Gowon then wakes up in Eden, going back to the day when they abandoned Olivia, and undoes her wrong.

Although she couldn’t prevent Yves from hurting Olivia, she could stay by her side so that she wouldn’t be alone anymore.

Fly like a butterfly

Olivia awakens on an Earth that has been transformed due to Gowon’s butterfly effect. She can hear a familiar voice, possibly Gowon, calling to her.

She follows the voice calling her.

Bringing her out of the darkness from her past...

And into the light of a new future of hope.

We see a scar on her neck, likely symbolizing when Yves “dropped” her. But now it’s healed, and she no longer lets the pain from her past define her.

Like the world around her, Olivia is reborn, and her heart is whole once more.

Yves can sense the impact from Gowon’s actions, and how much not only the world has changed, but also that she herself has changed. She knows that this new world will allow her the chance to be free and happy, as her truest self.

Chuu joins her as they dance and relish in the start of new freedom.

The girls have all united with their shadows, accepted their flaws, and are now stronger than they were before.

This time, they have the power to break free from the Moebius’ time loop. Their song resonates across Earth, where all those who hear it and are empowered by it, are LOONA.

(Just using the thumbnail because screenshots cannot do justice just how amazing and powerful the message of “Butterfly” is. Seriously, go watch the full music video!)

So... What’s next for our girls of the month?

There is still a lot of mystery surrounding LOONA’s upcoming comeback “#”, but in my eyes, it feels like the next chapter will change everything we know about the LOONAverse.

In the latest teaser, “#1″, Heejin awakens high in the sky above the Moebius. She hears something call to her.

Thus, she begins to ascender further above to reach it.

What could be calling her? Could it be the Goddess LOONA, or something else?

And what will happen to her and the rest of the girls when she reaches the source of the sound?

We’ll have to wait until they release the next teaser to try and find out.

For now, this concludes my breakdown of the LOONAverse timeline! I really enjoyed being able to share my thoughts, and going back to find connections I hadn’t made before!

I’m so excited for what’s next for LOONA and the story of the LOONAverse.
