Took me a bit longer than I planned but I got there eventually. 2023 music awards time! As always disclaimer, this is awards for the music I personally listened to this year, if your favorite song or album isn't here it might be because I don't like it but much more likely I didn't know about or listen to it, this is a very self indulgent project about reflecting on the music I listened to this year.

With that said, I have been told by multiple different people that I have great taste in music and I truly stand by everything mentioned here being great music so I highly recommend checking it all out.

Also I will be providing minimal to no commentary because I'm bad at that sort of thing.

For album categories I've included each album's JAMS score which is a system I use to rank my favorite albums based loosely on the baseball JAWS statistic, currently the highest JAMS score for any of the 47 rated albums is 2.84, the lowest is 1.40, and the average is 2.07. Bear in mind that this is out of the albums I like enough to bother rating so a lower ranking within the rated albums is by no means a condemnation, all 48 albums are albums I like.

AUs i’m not sure that i’ll ever write, so i’ll make a post with headcanons part 1: rockstar!abc boys:

hmr is an entertainment company with ceo mikoto, manager kusanagi, soloist totsuka, hip-hop duo yata and kamamoto, and the abc boys forming a rock band (anna is a trainee who isn’t set to debut yet). the agency is originally small and at the verge of bankruptcy. their artists and trainees would have to share cramped dorms, stuffy studio rooms, and aggressively promote their music via social media and sometimes even handing out flyers advertising their concert in the busy streets of shizume

i am being biased but i can see shouhei as the lead singer. he just has a very charismatic and outgoing personality that fits as the frontman of the band. although eric is definitely not the type to sing, i like to think he offers some vocals only because his japanese va has a nice voice lmaoo. chitose can also fill the role of the sub vocalist, but i like the idea of him being the playboy main guitarist. fuji is the drummer, bandou and dewa are the bass players, while eric also plays the guitar

the abc boys originally start out as an underground rock group with a small, but loyal fanbase. slowly but surely, they see a growth in their popularity with them doing numbers on their newer music, tickets selling out in big arenas, being invited to multiple award shows, and even winning some big awards.

thats not to say the boys end up becoming this squeaky clean, bubblegum pop boyband. a good chunk of their popularity comes from their rebellious, bad boy image. vulgar lyrics and music videos, multiple controversies such as rowdy parties that end up destroying whatever hotel room theyre renting, chitose (accidentally) scorning indie singer maria, diss tracks about other artists, getting into fights and other scandals, etc.

the boys are two years in their career when one of their rival companies debut a pop girl group. and unlike the boys, this girl group’s debut is highly anticipated since they’re from an established and rich company with other popular artists as their predecessors. so its no surprise that the group’s first mv and pre-release track debuts with high numbers

the girl group is composed of four members. each member is inspired from celebrities/characters from different media based on physical character traits or personality traits:

miyako: the eldest and the lead vocalist who is known for her ice princess like visuals. off camera, she is the easy-going mom friend of the group who comes from a wealthy family with a background in business. inspo: jisoo from kpop group blackpink, donna troy/wondergirl from dc comics, and kuchiki rukia from bleach

izumi: main rapper and self-proclaimed leader of the group. blunt and aloof, izumi is hard to impress and has a fondness for punk fashion and music. inspo: dinah lance/black canary and artemis crock from dc comics/shows, nana osaki from nana, with a little dash of jennie from blackpink (jennie’s onscreen personality during music videos)

kaoru: main dancer and lead rapper. a tomboyish girl who loves to have fun, but has a bad temper and can be kind of a bully. inspo: buttercup from powerpuff girls, lisa from blackpink, artemis crock and raven from dc

sakuno: the center and the main vocalist of the group. as the youngest and most soft-spoken of the group, she learned how to use her girlish charms and looks to get what she wants. inspo: nana komatsu and a bit of reira from nana, bubbles and blossom from ppg, jennie and rosé from blackpink.

despite the genres of both groups being completely different from the other and the girls being a newer group, it doesn’t stop the media and their fans from constantly comparing them, with the boys being one of the biggest groups around and the girls rapidly gaining popularity.

at first, the boys don’t pay that much attention to the girls. they’re hot girls doing pop music, of course a lot of virgins are gonna eat that shit up. but the more comparisons they see by fans and the media, the more articles they see about the girls possibly surpassing them and being better than them, the more it gets to them. like wtf? why the fuck are they always getting compared to this group of privileged girls who gets everything handed to them on a plate?? unlike those snobby little princesses, they actually worked hard and earned their success. they actually write and produce their own fucking music, instead of sitting in the studio room and looking pretty, while someone else writes their lyrics for them

the girls weren’t too sure on how to feel about the guys at first. while they admired the fact that the boys were able to pave a path for themselves to stardom despite being from a broke company, they’re a bit wary about them. the boys have been involved in a lot of feuds, which got them on the bad side of the general public here and there. and sure, they don’t always start shit, but they always play dirty in response. some of the members don’t even have the best reputation with women, which doesn’t help their case

It also doesnt help that even though their fans are always beefing, theres still a large portion of them that ships members of both groups with each other. This helps to be a great marketing strategy by the girls’ company, making sure to have the boys name dropped frequently in articles or bios about the girls, comparing their success and labeling them as each other’s counterpart, which boosts their engagement.

but despite all the constant comparisons, both groups avoid the hell out of each other whenever theyre in the same public setting (i.e. music award shows). the guys think the girls are talentless posers who trying to ride on their dicks for fame, while the girls just want to avoid accidentally creating any dating rumors cause god forbid they accidentally glance at one of the boys or sit near them

it doesn’t take that long for the girls to sense some sort of animosity from some of the more vocal guys like bandou and even chitose to some extent, so the resentment soon turns mutual and the girls start to think that the guys are a bunch of lowlives

me being me tho, the tension between both groups soon turns into sexual tension between some of their members lmaooo

i envision the four girls to get with shouhei, chitose, dewa, and bandou, but if anyone is actually reading this and thinks differently, please let me know!

dewa/miyako: on the surface, they seem to be the most similar, with both of them having the more serious/strict image of their group. dewa thinks otherwise since miyako is way more outgoing and lenient with her members. he initially looks down at her for being part of an ‘artificial’ pop group, and thinks of her as an airhead, but is surprised to know that she does have a few things in common with him, such as their rich and smothering families. both are also 100% done with their friends’ antics.

chitose/izumi: far from the shy type, izumi is no stranger to promiscuity, having her share of partners in the bedroom. but between the scandals with her friend maria and many other female celebrities, and the way his group looks down at her group, izumi wouldn’t really feel bad if she wakes up one day to headlines about chitose catching std and his group being forced to disband. but after multiple attempts of flirting from chitose’s end, both form a superficial friendship and party together, which slowly turns into late night private conversations with cigarettes in their hand and a bottle to share.

bandou/kaoru: a hate to love dynamic, these two clash the most out of them all and are the last couple to hold hands, let alone get together. from their first meeting (which is coincidentally when they both caught shouhei and sakuno together), kaoru tells bandou how much of a loser he is and that he should pursue another career since his music is not it. bandou calls kaoru a dyke and that theres a reason why she’s the least popular of her group. both are quick to press each other’s buttons, unknowingly hitting some sore spots.

shouhei/sakuno: the romeo and juliet of the groups, they’re the first couple to get together tbh. although they both knew of each other and would attend the same music award shows, they formally meet each other through a mutual friend. although there was a mutual attraction, sakuno tries to bottle her feelings and keep her distance while shouhei tries to pursue her. they initially start off as friends with benefits since both have busy schedules, but the feelings are too strong and next thing you know, late night hookups at the other’s apartment slowly turns into secret late night dates at reserved beaches and restaurants. their interactions start the domino effect of the other members’ interactions.

other couples include fujieric who are in a slowburn ‘will they’ situationship, and mikototsu who are in a secret relationship

SpaceTime -- A brief history

SpaceTime is Australia’s most popular and respected astronomy and space science news program – averaging over two million downloads every year. We’re also number five in the United States.  The show reports on the latest stories and discoveries making news in astronomy, space flight, and science.  SpaceTime features weekly interviews with leading Australian scientists about their research.  The show began life in 1995 as ‘StarStuff’ on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s (ABC) NewsRadio network.  Award winning investigative reporter Stuart Gary created the program during more than fifteen years as NewsRadio’s evening anchor and Science Editor.  Gary’s always loved science. He studied astronomy at university and was invited to undertake a PHD in astrophysics, but instead focused on his career in journalism and radio broadcasting. He worked as an announcer and music DJ in commercial radio, before becoming a journalist and eventually joining ABC News and Current Affairs. Later, Gary became part of the team that set up ABC NewsRadio and was one of its first presenters. Past/Origins (S0): Eva Nelson (10-11) is taken under the claws of her godmother Selina Kyle since her parents and family members lived in Bellwood. She starts as Mouse, Robin's main romantic interest and the very first female sidekick in history with pure magic energy. Eva was graduating from Evermore College as honorable valedictorian and has the highest scores due to her skilled talents. She meets her godfather Bruce Wayne and her crush Dick Grayson through Gotham City's Red Carpet Gala with her godmother, who's a famous entrepreneur of expensive jewelry and fashion trends. Eva goes platinum and gold with music, dancing, acting, videos, movies, and more. She was the Lucky Girl of Gotham City and she begins her journey in Tokyo, Japan...as Mouse...with trouble right down her path. Will she become the White Kitten Thief or will this "kitty" lose her claws?

Legacy (S1): Eva Nelson (12-13) is currently in Friedkin University for her doctorate degrees and has the best elite awards. She founded the Team with Robin I, Aqualad II, Kid Flash I, Superboy I, Miss Martian, Wonder Girl I (OFC: Ophelia Trevor), and Artemis I. Eva lost her paternal grandfather Kent Nelson and her maternal grandmother Inza Cramer to her two major enemies as Catgirl, who then awakens her hybrid form and fuse her pure mana with her inner phoenix out of mixed emotions when all of her loved ones got hurt at the Tower of Fate. The Forever Knights and Genomorphs join alongside Zephyr Incorporated after the head manager of the company turns out to be Dubbilex. Eva becomes Black Cat during that time with Nightwing (Robin I) as her boyfriend, she currently has three adopted god-sisters and was their big sister figure. It's the war between the Team against the Light, Hive, Reach, and Naga for the safety of Planet Earth...and one shocking plot twist is...uncovered. What secrets are hidden in this saga?

Outsiders (S3): Eva Nelson (20-21) was pregnant and expecting a magical pair of baby twins with Nightwing during the two-year gap, they've been engaged and to be married at a private ceremony. They secretly tied the knot without any villains knowing their location at Anodyne, though they have to save meta-humans and protect mutants from more villains on Earth. Eva were being aligned with the Genomorphs and Forever Knights, but are defending them against the Lucabras and Flame Keepers who were trying to make her a living sacrifice to their inner circle by doing a blood ritual in order to summon Dagon. The birth of the next generation has arrived and this one will be the most extraordinary one...yet. Can the Team protect her and her family from Dagon?

Phantoms (S4): Eva Nelson (23-24) saves Steel Scion (Superboy I) and Rocket I from the Zod War. She brought Changeling (Beast Boy I), White Raven, Cyborg I, Starfire, Lumus (OMC), Zatanna, Aquaman II (Aqualad II), Wonder Woman II (Wonder Girl I/OFC), Breach (OMC), Tigress (Artemis I), Nightwing, Miss Martian, and Flash III (Kid Flash I) with her to save the Son of Steel and revive Rocket I. It's the Team against General Zod's family, the final battle that destroys the House of Zod with the El Family's remaining members, and the Lucky Girl faces off against her grandmother's greatest enemy with Tashmetum by using the Mask of Destiny to become Mistress Destiny. It's about to be a swarm of nanochips and the Team is prepared to take down the Decoy Queen of the Hive...once and for all. Will they dethrone this monarch and end the general?

Future/Enhanced (S5): Eva Nelson (29-30) is back and is ready to take down some bad guys with her loved ones. The Lucky Girl joined forces with the rest of the Team to defeat Darkseid after he destroys the Map of Infinity to cause the dimensional paradox, she revives it and restores everlasting peace by balancing an internal vortex of portals to revert everything back in place. Eva becomes the main entrepreneur and head president of Zephyr Incorporated, wedded spouse of Dick Grayson, mother of two children, and future member of the new Justice League of America. Time must be restored and every paradox must stay...infinite. Will the Team be able to fix the time-lines?

She's voiced by the late Meagan Smith at Origins and in her childhood memories. Her permanent voice will be from Tara Strong from Legacy to Phantoms, who was known to voice Rachel Roth aka "Raven" from "Teen Titans", and it fits her well. Her future voice will come from Erica Lindbeck, who voiced Felicia Hardy aka "Black Cat" from "Spider-Man".

Personality- Artemis is an unrivaled master of hunting, tracking, and archery. She’s a proud introvert and fiercely independent. She’s practical, adventurous, and athletic with a tomboy flair. She loves nature and being outdoors, whether she’s shooting arrows with her brother, hunting with her crew of huntresses, or enjoying her surroundings by herself. She’s a biromantic asexual and is single.

As the goddess of the moon, hunting, archery, wilderness, childbirth, & maidens her powers/abilities include night vision, teleportation (through concentrated moonlight), lunakinesis, firing lasers of moonlight through her eyes, lightning redirection, limited hydrokinesis (as it pertains to tides & forest waters- like lakes, ponds, & streams), chlorokinesis (as it pertains to the forest), limited aerokinesis, being an expert at archery & knifemanship, hunting transfiguration, zoolingualism (being able to communicate with wild animals), including those that are sacred to her (as well as shapeshifting into them), animal replenishing, and vitakinesis. She can also turn a person into the opposite sex. 

She mostly gets around town using her motorcycle nicknamed “Moonbeam."

Artemis lives in the Lunar district of New Olympus, the neighborhood inspired by her. She’s the owner of an apartment complex built for young girls & women. She has a strict “no men allowed” policy, but she is known for bending the rules a bit when her brother Apollo comes to visit. She also owns a cabin in the Celestial Woods. She goes there during the weekends and whenever she's free to decompress & relax. She also has an extensive collection of hunting knives at her place. Her favorite things are her silver bow & arrows. She has a single pet- a cat named Monday (a girl) whose soft-to-the-touch silver fur is often complimented on!

She travels often to the states of Delos and Delphi to visit her family.

With her immediate family, she's really close with her mom Leto (Titaness of demurity & motherhood). Artemis is a lot closer to her grandfather Coeus (Titan god of foresight, intellect, & knowledge) than her grandmother Phoebe (Titaness of prophecy, the moon, radiant intellect, & mystery). Artemis barely knows her uncle Lelantos (Titan god of air, the unseen & hunting) and can't stand her cousin Aura (goddess of the breeze).

Artemis is in a band called Eclipse with her brother and Euterpe (muse of music & lyric poetry). She’s the co-lead singer & plays the lead electric guitar. They perform often on tour as well as clubs and bars. They have released a few albums to nationwide acclaim. As Eclipse, she has 17 Golden Laurel Awards!

She’s also an official co-chair of the Summer Solstice Music Festival! 

In New Olympus, Artemis operates a wildlife sanctuary and also runs classes for young girls & women called Hunters of the Moon where they learn hunting, fighting, knifemanship, and archery. When the girls “graduate”, they officially become a huntress. She also released a makeup palette called MoonRave as well as a nail polish brand (Colors by Twilight)- which is sold exclusively by the beauty store Olmorfia. Her favorite color to wear from her line is “When The Moon Calls”, a metallic silver color. She also has a fashion line called Nocturnal Vibez (that includes clothes, shoes, accessories, and handbags) & she's also got a chain of hunter apparel stores. Artemis is also a licensed midwife and holds classes for that in the community center! She also has her own amusement park, LunarWorld theme park.

Artemis is not very fond of the male species. The closest relationship she has with a guy is her twin brother Apollo (god of the sun, music, poetry, healing, medicine, archery, plague, light, & knowlesge). She's isn't as close to her father Zeus (god of the sky, thunder, & lightning) as she used to be.

She can't stand one of her brother's exes, Chione (goddess of snow).

In the pantheon, Artemis is real close with The Muses- particularly Euterpe (muse of music & lyric poetry) & Urania (muse of astronomy), Nike (goddess of victory), Diochetévo (goddess of sewers, garbage, & waste), Methe (goddess of drunkenness), Pasithea (goddess of hallucinations & relaxation), Lykos (goddess of wolves), and Bia (goddess of force & power). She's also close with one of her esteemed huntresses, Britomaris (goddess of mountains, hunting, & fishing nets). Aside from her mother, Artemis greatly admires Selene (Titaness of the moon) who was also her mentor. She also likes Hestia (goddess of the hearth).

She's not that close with the rest of her half-siblings, but does like Hebe (goddess of youth) and on other occassions Dionysus (god of wine) & Hermes.

Artemis calls herself a “bacon connoisseur." Everything she eats has to include bacon. Her favorite T-shirt that she likes to wear has the saying “I’d be a vegetarian if bacon grew on trees."

She has a birthmark behind her ear in the shape of a crescent moon.

Some of Artemis' fav snacks include chocolate sandwhich cookies (with vanilla creme in the center), bacon flavored potato chips, cloud cakes (deep fried), and blueberry licorice twists!

Her & her brother wear differing amulets, she wearing a crescent moon and Apollo wearing the sun.

Her & her huntresses go on yearly camping trips in the Celestial Woods, traveling there by Artemis’ RV.

She often takes in abandoned woodland animals, nursing them back to health before she releases them back to the wild.

In her free time, Artemis enjoys archery, hiking, basketball, hunting, painting (mostly outdoor landscapes), working on her fighting skills (her favorite being mixed martial arts), mountain climbing, kayaking, playing music, ballet, riding her dirt bike, interpretive dance, and she’s even taken on gymnastics. She also likes writing poetry & new songs.

Artemis' go-to sandwich is a BLT from The Bread Box, a popular sandwich shop.

Her go-to drink is a rocky road milkshake from The Frozen Spoon. She also likes beer, ginger ale, mint flavored sparkling water, green tea, and blueberry soda. Her usuals from The Roasted Bean is the large chocolate mocha & the olympian sized blueberry açai splash.

Her favorite treat from Hollyhock's Bakery are the maple glazed donuts (topped with bacon pieces).

Her favorite meal is a double bacon olympian burger (with extra bacon of course😉) served with a slab of barbeque ribs, large fries, and a large blueberry soda from Olympic Chef.

Two Sides to Everything

Everyone has heard the phrase “two sides to every story” or “two sides to every coin” and any other iteration of that adage to say that there’s always another way to look at things. And that comes into play a lot when dealing with the first air sign of the zodiac, Gemini. Gemini is known as the twins and they are born between May 21st and June 20th. Gemini’s have a reputation for being two-faced or even having multiple-personalities when they can just switch between keeping the “People Pleasing Switch” on and shutting that switch down quicker than a snap. A Gemini is adaptable, curious, and witty while being non-committal, easily distracted, and restless at the same time. A person born under the star sign Gemini might like books, adventure, and music for gifts and experiences but they might dislike routine and silence. To understand why Gemini's are the way they are, it might be best to look into the mythology of the constellation. When looking into the history of the Twins, it's found that the story of Gemini is best told with another specific zodiac story, Aries.

If you remember about the golden fleece of Chrysomallos, the flying golden ram that saved Phrixus, was then sacrificed to thank the gods, and that was kept in the sacred garden of Ares, then you remember that Jason came to retrieve the fleece from the king. But there were two men who were important in his band of men, the Argonauts. These two men were twins and sons of Zeus, Castor and Polydeuces (also known as Pollux). Leda, their mother and queen of Sparta, was seduced by Zeus as a swan. She laid with her husband as well that night and found herself with child soon after. Once Leda’s pregnancy came to term, she then laid two eggs, one holding the immortal Pollux and the other holding the mortal Castor, and she also bore Helen and Clytemnestra. While Castor and Clytemnestra were mortal and believed to be the children of the Spartan king Tyndareus, Pollux and Helen were believed to be the children of Zeus. The two brothers received a nickname, The Dioscuri, meaning Sons of Zeus, even though there were some who believed that since Castor was mortal, he wasn’t the son of Zeus. Even though that fact would remain a problem for many people in Sparta, Castor never allowed the fame and praise the Pollux got for being immortal to stop him. Castor became a renowned horse rider and tamer while Pollux became a famous boxer. Pollux and his brother Castor were inseparable, never straying far from each other as they loved each other unconditionally and would do whatever they could to assist the other.

They went on many adventures together, one notably being to assist Meleager with the Calydonian boar. When the king of Calydon failed to give an offering to the goddess Artemis, she became angry and sent a giant boar to terrorize his lands. The king sent word for a hero to save his lands and the job was picked up by the king’s son, Meleager. While Meleager was ambitious about his skills and knew he needed to defend his kingdom and people, he knew he needed help. Meleager gathered a group of men together and received the assistance of Castor and Pollux. The twins aided the prince in hunting the boar for many days. When Meleager got the final blow on the boar, he awarded the prized skin to the woman who drew first blood from the animal, Atalanta, the only woman brave enough to go with the men on the terrible hunt. During the hunt, Castor and Pollux met Jason and his band of men who would be going on their own quest soon enough. The twins decided to assist them and made certain to lend whatever aid they could. During a treacherous storm, Castor and Pollux were able to navigate the Argo through the dangerous waters to get to king Aeetes and were anointed with stars on their foreheads for their skills.

While the crew were on the journey for the golden fleece, Pollux was challenged to a boxing match with the king of Bebryces. Pollux fought well and hard, and won against the king famously. Upon their return to Sparta, their sister Helen was kidnapped and taken to Athens. The twins went to fight in the battles to retrieve their sister, they brought Theseus’ mother with them as retribution. Soon enough Helen would be taken to Troy and the pair of brothers went back to war to fight for their sister’s return. But then there would be a time that the brothers grew older and only one would stay physically young. Castor died when he and Pollux were caught stealing cattle from their cousins who they had been in arguments with for a while. Pollux killed one cousin and Zeus killed the other as he had killed Castor. Pollux was heartbroken by the death of his brother and begged Zeus to share his immortality. The king of the gods obliged and so the brothers could live together. To balance out that half of the pair was truly dead, Zeus made the deal that the brothers would live half of the year in the heavens while the other half they would be in the underworld. Pollux and Castor agreed and they were immortalized in the heavens as the constellation Gemini.

Geminis have their best luck on Wednesdays and have some great times when they wear yellow. A Gemini using the numbers twenty-three and fourteen might find their luck enhanced. The two brightest stars of the constellation Gemini are named for the twins whose story gives them their name. Sometimes, Gemini is depicted as one man with two heads to show how Castor and Pollux share one life. In the natural, food grade soap made by the CEO of Birds of Valhalla, Gemini is represented as a duality in colors. A bright white and a vibrant purple are separated by a beige to show how the brothers are separate people, but share the beauty of one life. DC's Stargirl 3.12 "Chapter Twelve: The Last and Testament of Sylvester Pemberton" has aired on the CW and I'm here to talk about it.

It is series finale day and I'm only just now doing episode 12. Being a music student at Christmas time is very time-consuming. But we're doing episode 12 now! I've very actively avoided any promo for the finale so I have no idea what I've missed in episode 12. Hoping to see Sylvester get killed a second time!

I'm still so sad about the Crocks deaths.

Starting on a pretty brutal murder. Really weird to see Dragon King here not really as Dragon King. I think we only ever saw Ito in photos, this is our first time seeing him as a person out of costume. Unrelated, but while Gerard Shugel (Ultra-Humanite) is in the body of Dolores Winters and actively identifies as her (thus, a woman) in said body, does that make him trans? Does it matter? It does not, but as a trans person, it is funny to think about. But I really love how he goes from the body of an award-winning actress to a giant gorilla. Who does that?? Comic book logic baby.

I really wish we'd gotten a real suit for Artemis. We've still got some time, but it seems unlikely.

Oh shit, it's Rick! Hey dude, been a while. And he is having a rough time. The drug metaphor is coming to fruition.

Why did we never get to see these other JSA kids? Sandman & Atom's kids, maybe Khalid, more from Jennie & Todd.

"I can protect myself" last time you fought Jordan, you got killed, so sure. God, he's such a pathetic man. You fucking go off on him Courtney! I fucking hate Sylvester so much. It'd be super fun if we turned him into the BBEG. Make the JSA fight and beat him.

Oh, that's concerning. Why is Dragon King's body here?? Oh fuck, he put his brain in Ultra-Humanite??? Holy shit and Ultra-Humanite's brain is in Sylvester!! They are making him the villain!!!

The way the VFX for Ultra-Dragonite (as he is now dubbed) is so much better than Grundy or S.T.R.I.P.E. Okay, new names. Ultra-Dragonite and idfk Ultra-Star, sure. We're going with those.

I knew I was right to be sus of "Sylvester" all this time! He must've always been Humanite, or at least has been for a while.

I wish we'd gotten more of Rick's journey from his earlier "I don't have a problem, fuck all of you" attitude to his newfound "I have a problem and need help" one. He finally gets some development after three seasons and it's off-screen.

It's super cool to see how Cosmo is recognizing that this isn't actually Starman and trying to resist, even if it really can't. Excited to see Ultra-Star and Courtney fight it out for control of Cosmo. Just how long has it been Ultra-Star? Just after Starman's death in the premiere of season 1, or from before? Also holy fuck, he's burying Pat alive? That's a dark twist. Are they actually gonna kill Pat like this?

I feel so vindicated, I've been calling the horrible manipulation Ultra-Star has been using on the JSA all season. This is good.

It's rare for these shows to really feel like a complete story when they come to an end. And obviously, the finale might fuck it up, but this really does feel like a complete story between all three seasons. They've clearly been planning the Sylvester twist from the beginning. Or at least a twist if not exactly this one. And this is the power of knowing you're writing a final season going into production.

There are so many fights I'm excited for. No matter what happens, this is going to be a fun finale. And we'll find out tonight on DC's Stargirl 3.13 "Chapter Thirteen: The Reckoning".

Bangtan Sonyeondan (BTS) [방탄소년단] Melon Music Awards 2019 Review

The Melon Music Awards aired on Nov. 30. in Seoul. During the awards show, Bangtan Sonyeondan [방탄소년단] almost exclusively known as BTS here in the west, performed a 40 minute set of “Intro: Persona” “Boy in Luv” “Boy With Luv” “Mikrokosmos” a dance break, and “Dionysus.”

The opening video shows the members resting on a sofa, similar to the “I NEED U” music video, hinting at BTS’s fictional story universe and that this concert might be a reflection of it. The video features motifs of lights and shadows, making fans excited that the potential albums of “Map of the Soul: Shadow” or “Map of the Soul: Ego” might be confirmed soon. It ends with Rap Monster (RM) being the only one awake, playing with a lighter.

RM starts the performance with a solo, “Intro: Persona.” His rapping is spectacular. The stage is themed like a Korean classroom and was littered with clues about fan-speculations and references to their old songs. The clack board was made to look like the scribbles of a mad man. Once RM finishes, the rest of BTS joined him for “Boy in Luv,” a 2014 song from the Skool Luv Affair era. A surprising throwback and a hint that this concert was more than meets the eye.

The song jumps into BTS’s 2019 megahit, “Boy With Luv” which is a direct continuation of the story. The screen changes from a school to the iconic movie theater from the 2019 video. Since Halsey was over here in the States, the boys sing the high notes alongside her backing track. Jimin kisses a rose and throws it into the crowd, triggering rose petals to blast out of cannons into the front rows. The boys held up hand signs of the number two, again hinting at the Ego album.

Then, everything stops and fades to black. RM speaks over a soft piano, as the white text is the only thing visible: “In the beginning, I did not shine so bright. I only knew to do my best to shine. But we found each other and our universe was born. Now let us shine on each other.” The music swells, “We’re no longer small. Just as the universe expands,” The camera cuts to the crowd filled with lights, “Our universe would last forever.”

The song “Mikrokosmos” starts, the staging mimics the Love Yourself: Speak Yourself tour, the projection and screens of stars make it appear like they were floating in the galaxy. At the softest part of the song, the stage blacks out and shows only a screen with the words “I love you” in 100s of different languages.

The video from the opening continues, Jungkook woke up and look at old TVs playing old BTS music videos. He says, “I’m still looking for who I used to be,” the camera pans back to his face, he smiles, and says, “who I am now.” RM smiles and hugs him. Shadows fill and become the other band members. Their silhouettes are overlaid with the scenes of their deaths from the “Fake Love” music video. It cuts to them all standing in the living room, the TV shows static, as Jungkook says, “Who I will be in the future.” It zooms in on his eye and showing space. The BTS logo flashes.

A greek horn blazes, like a warning before, their song “Dionysus.” Greek imagery is everywhere. The screen is lifted and we see men highlighted by a dark red light. They march like soldiers, and people on spinning rings drop for the ceiling. V raises from the ground in a white and gold suit leaning heavily into Apollo imagery. His dance is dark and moody set to an old BTS song “No More Dream.”

Then it shifts to Jin, in an all-white suit, on a horse figurine before dancing to an orchestrated new version of “Danger” as his imagery leads to hot debates and the two conclusions that he is representing either Athena or Ares. His dancing is his controlling of an army to fight.

Everything fades to blue as a long flowing sheet is ran across stage and Jimin is shown alone as Artemis, in a silk outfit illuminated by simple light bulbs meant to look like stars. He ballet style dances to “I NEED U,” while using the piece of cloth to highlight his movement and incorporating a traditional Korean dance in his set.

The stage then lights up with red lights and actual fire for Suga’s song and dance “Fire.” He is representing Hephaestus and is costumed like he was back in the Hwa Yong Yeon Hwa era of BTS’s music.

Water falls over and stops the fire and Jungkook is shown sitting in a pool of water and smoke. His song is “Save Me” and he represents Poseidon. He spends and splashes water everywhere, his tasseled shirt helps with the movement.

Then the lights struck down as J-Hope dances to a techno style remix of “Fake Love,” he is Zeus shown with a laser light show.

Lastly, the leader, RM enters to “Dionysus” powerfully walking onstage as Dionysus and picking up his mythical thyrsus. He holds it over his head and rolls his eyes back as he plants it into the ground. The stage burst into life.

Then BTS performs “Dionysus” surrounded by Greek imagery. The insane choreography is some of BTS’s hardest yet and the staging is overly grand. Men in boring uniforms and men leading real horses enter. BTS sits on a Mount Olympus court as the song kicks off. RM jumps onto the table and walks across, then pounds his fist and the other members rise. They dance on the front table before moving to the front. Before the final verse, they revealed “Dionysus” remixed “N.O.” again emphasizing that they haven’t lost the love for their old music. Right before the hardest part of the dance RM asked the audience: “You ready for this? Is you ready, see your hype! Jump! Come on, let’s go!” The show finished with all of the band members sitting on thrones.

At the award portion of the night, they won eight awards, four of those being daesangs, or “grand prizes.” The group won Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

Meridian ACT are a community-controlled, peer-led organisation that provides health and social support services to our community.

They celebrate diversity, strengthen community and empower individuals to live their best lives.

Art of Tarab- Bellydance Workshop with Kirsty

Tarab describes deep, stirring music that causes a deep emotional response of yearning, beauty and timelessness in the audience and dancers. Kirsty's two hour belly dance workshop will delve into the intricacies of dancing to Tarab music and cover the history of Tarab music in belly dance. Using a combination of improvisation and musicality drills and choreography students will walk away with new styling and movement combinations to interpret and perform to this unique music.

Tired of being a well behaved, balanced & mature adult (or cosplaying it for The Man?). It’s time to get down on the floor (or surface most suited to your mobility needs) & chuck the sexiest tantrum you’ve ever thrown. Why be chill when you can be surreal & unhinged? Come and be on your worst behaviour with Artemis Seven & make the audience beg for the brat.

We’ll go over some classic bratty moves, how the brat archetype can help you improvise & reinstate boundaries with an audience, and then learn a fun and deeply ridiculous group act- with a bonus performance opportunity* if you feel like trying it out on an audience!

This workshop is suitable for all levels & requires no previous dance or performance experience!

We will be learning a group act to perform at Bangarang on the 28th October. You do not have to perform if you take the workshop, but the option is open if you want to! The act is designed to be personalised & easy to pick up quickly, so you can decide after the workshop how you feel, or just come to have fun & let off some steam.

- Whatever makes you feel bratty, sexy, cute - but gives you flexibility of movement!

- Hydration! Chucking a tantrum is thirsty work.

Drag and Stage Make Up with Jazida - Spring Out Edition

SPRING OUT SPECIAL

Come along and learn some of Jazida’s tips and tricks for using make up to paint for stage in this 3-hour workshop.

Techniques we’ll be exploring include contouring, eyebrow blocking, glitter application creating cut creases, painting for the stage vs day, ensuring you make up lasts longer and more.

Please bring along your make up kit, a mirror, notepad and pen (if you want to take notes).

You can paint your own face over the course of the workshop or choose to just watch/take notes if you desire. We’ll explore how you can utilise the make up that you already own.

However, Jazida recommends at a minimum to have foundation, contour/highlight, setting powder, white eyeliner/crayon, black liquid liner, eye shadows and blush, lipstick, eyelash glue, false eyelashes and glitter. If you want to try blocking your eyebrows, please bring a glue stick.

Linda ronstadt recorded several zevon songs including "poor poor pitiful me" and made his "hasten down the wind" the title track of a 1976 album. Meanwhile, zevon's friends in california w ere working on his behalf. In 1974, he went to spain, where he played piano in a club for tourists. Zevon worked as a musical director and band member for the everly brothers shortly before the duo dissolved.
