Isang Buwang Araw ng Dabaw
By: Daniel Fil Divino
Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media

My mom really loves to collect and plants various types of plants; from ornaments, fruit-bearings, herbs, spices, to succulents. Her usual morning routine is to water them and sometime she cultivate some of her plants when needed. She sometimes buy a sack of fertilized soil, various types of fertilizers, a different types and size of pots and so much more. It even break her heart when one of her plants eventually died. Everytime when Kadayawan and Araw ng Dabaw festival approach, we usally went to a Flower and Agricultural Trade Fair just to buy a new set of plants. This is how mom is very fond and passionate about plants. Her patience developed through taking care of her beloved plants. Our house is surrounded with different types of plants, shades of green as they describe.
Before, I don't actually like plants, it even annoys me when I was child because my would always ask to water her plants. As a lazy kid, I never understood my mom why she is so passionate about plants. But now I am already an adult, I started to appreciate the beauty of plants. Even my mom would think about leaving her beloved plants to me or to my sister when time will comes she will be too old to take care of it. But yeah, maybe I will be the one will take of it someday.
One thing that I learned about the process of plants was they a proper time to grow, propagate and to bloom. Before they do, they have to go through a lots of season; a season to spread their roots, a season to go through a lot of weather either dry or rainy, a season to be prune, a season to protect from the pest until the time that they started to have flowers and/or grow. And the process goes on, which we usually called cycle. And then I realized humans are like plants, we need a to go through some seasons in our lives in order for us to grow and to bloom. A season to spread our our knowledge, wisdom or even our own career, a season to go through a different types of weathers in life; dry season of burned out, a storm that we need to cry and to hold on, and a season that we need to enjoy every moments, a season to to pruning negativity, toxic relationships, unhealthy lifestyle and accepting criticisms, a season that we need to protect ourselves in all forms of harm, and time will come we became the better or even the best version of our selves.
In the era where everything is fast paced and too easy too get, we should never forget the beauty of process. Most people wants to make things instant and works according to their plants, missing they point of making things slow. Success in general doesn’t overnight, it’s a long way process. And sometimes we became impatient of the process ending up getting frustrated and disappointment. We are what we cultivate and plant in our life. Do you plant toxicity? beauty? love? knowledge? wisdom? How to cultivate it? How do you take care of it?
We should honor the process of ourselves, we should learn to become our own gardener of our life. We are the gardener of our life.

Sara reiterates call for supporters to stop motorcades
#PHnews: Sara reiterates call for supporters to stop motorcades
DAVAO CITY – As the city celebrated the 84th Araw ng Dabaw on Monday (March 1), Mayor Sara Z. Duterte reiterated her call to supporters to spend their money on the needy instead of using it for motorcades and tarpaulins urging her to run in the 2022 presidential election. “Let us instead use our power and resources to give food to those who are short on money and hungry and create jobs for those who lost their livelihood,” she said. Even if she is not planning to throw her hat in next year's presidential race, Mayor Sara said the "show of strength and unity" of her supporters was enough to mobilize Filipinos to address poverty. “There is no need for you to keep on calling my attention [to run for president] through motorcades and tarpaulins, I heard you, and I understand what’s in your heart. Because that is also what I felt,” she said. Duterte also thanked her supporters for trusting her abilities to lead. “Once again, I am grateful to all my friends who believe in me and who relentlessly express their call for me to run for president. The unity and strength that you have shown gave me comfort knowing that I have friends like you,” she said. Earlier, the mayor told PTV-Davao that motorcades entail gasoline expenses and other costs. “Let us instead give the budget for the motorcade to the less fortunate to buy food,” she said, adding that motorcades also cause traffic and worsen air pollution. In recent media interviews, Duterte has repeatedly shot down any possibility for her to follow in the footsteps of her father, President Rodrigo R. Duterte. (PNA)

Homework #3
1. Describe your personality during elementary years using OCEAN (Big Five Traits)
O (Openness) - When I was young I'm too curious in many things that some are cause me troubles. Like climbing to the tree and didn't know how to get down from it. I don't give cautious in my surroundings.
C (Conscientiousness) - I was more careless and easy-going when I was a child. I just always think play, play and play that my mother always scold me because I don't give attention to my studies.
E (Extraversion) - Being energetic and outgoing was some of my aspect when I was a child. I tried many activities in my elementary school like majorette, sports, and singing contest. I also once join in a beauty pageant. I was so full of myself. I am not a reserved person when I was young.
A (Agreeableness) - I was friendly when I was young because I always play and join extracurricular activities that gain me many friends.
N (Neuroticism) - Just like how I was in the past traits I was very confident when I was a child. It's like I don't have moments when I got shy maybe nervous in terms of studies but in many aspect, I was very outgoing. I'm not also sensitive when I was a child.
2. What was your favorite memory during elementary years? Why was it memorable for you?
- For me my favorite memory during my elementary years is joining a majorette. It was very memorable because we always perform in important occasions especially in Kadayawan and Araw ng Dabaw. There was one time when we parade in Araw ng Dabaw, Enchong Dee was on our back riding his caravan. I was so excited and delighted that knowing there are celebrities watching us perform.

Need New Places to Go to? Try Davao.
Taking a break from your annual trip to Korea? Avoiding expensive cities like Tokyo and Taipei because you’re trying to save up? There has to be somewhere else to go on a holiday. If you’re looking for a new and refreshing destination to make you fall in love with travel again, check out Davao. This city may not be as developed as Manila the capital, but it is the largest city in terms of land area in Philippines – some even claimed in the world!

No trip is complete without eating what the locals eat, and in Davao, it’s a gastronomic adventure. The mouthwatering “pakfry” (fried tuna tail in pickled sauce) at Palo Vince Restaurant is to die for, or drop by the famous Marina Tuna to sample the freshness of seafood through signature dishes like “kinilaw” (citrus-marinated raw tuna spiced with chili) or “tuna panga” (grilled fish jaws).

You cannot visit Davao without having a fruit feast. You can find durian almost anywhere in Davao as the city is known to serve creamy durians all year long, so much so that it has even earned the nickname, “the durian capital of the Philippines.” The sweet pomelos are worthy for a try as well as they are readily available everywhere at a really cheap price.

One of the main attractions in Davao is their festivals. Every year, two main festivals become the highlight of Davao city: Araw Ng Dabaw in mid-March, and especially Kadatawan (held during the third week of every August). This is the most popular time of the year to visit Davao, as festival goers flood the city in August to partake in the vibrant celebration of life, where locals give thanks to the gods for the bountiful harvest and peaceful living. Araw ng Davao is another vibrant feast, where multicultural Davaoeños celebrate the people’s oneness and unity. The seven-day festival is packed with action where trade fairs and cultural exhibitions crowd.
4. Relaxing Retreat in the Mountains of Eden
Many people are fans of beaches but some people prefer the mountains. If you are the latter, then Eden is the place to be. It is a mountain resort located at 807 meters above sea level, offering a chilling retreat away from the city and indulgence in nature’s treasures, such as rich gardens of organic produce, flower gardens, tropical flora and lush greenery.

Eden Nature Park is not just a place for relaxation but fun and adventure too. The resort offers plenty of exciting outdoor activities for people who seek for thrill. Embark onto an adventure as you trek down the Mountain Trail; feel the gushing air when you experience rope gliding or their signature 200-meters ziplining known as Sky Rider. Craving for an adrenaline rush? Try SkySwing, where you get hoisted 24 meters above the ground and swing in the sky – literally!

Davao boasts a wealth of picturesque natural landscapes untampered by modern development, leaving wild forests, rugged mountains and wonderful waters inviting for an adventurous exploration. Its wealth of natural attractions also opens up to a plethora of outdoor activities for those who want to get up and close with Mother Nature.

A thrillseeker at heart who loves a hike? Come conquer the heights and enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views and the divine sight of the sunrise!
