BG3 Narrator: There’s been a lot of destruction around, and they think you’re responsible.
Me, looking at the whole third floor of a fireworks/explosives shop that’s now exploded with a downed Astarion by the edge of the fire because I didn’t move him out of the way in time after I made him blow it up: … No that wasn’t me.
BG3 Narrator: They believe you- for now.
*immediately gets put into combat afterwards*

My werewolf had 7 days to get married for an inheritance. She decided to just grab her fling to marry real quick; not knowing that he was a surgeon that brought with him about 500k simelons!
The day after their quick wedding, he died in their front yard from laughter. My girl pleaded with the grim reaper but he was like Nah, and killed off her husband.
Next day after she got off of work, SAME THING HAPPENED TO HER.
This game I swear..

[NOTICE] Thank you for the 300+ followers. To celebrate, bits of PLAYER!Tale AU concept( regarding Player) is shared
Reposting because Tumblr decided to post instead of saving it in drafts when I'm not even finished. Love you tumblr!  (╯ᐛ)╯︵ ┻━┻
◇◇◇◇◇
A/N:
Oh, wow! We actually reach 300+ (as of now 310) followers!
⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡
Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart, I’m glad all of you enjoyed the story despite my art not being that good. I actually wanted to draw for 250 followers but I didn’t realised we passed that milestone.
Anyways! To celebrate, I wanted to share some concepts regarding the Player based on my memories, though sorry if there is like a black blotched in the drawing as that is considered as spoilers.
To start off, I began creating this AU maybe 5/6 years ago, on and off, (re-writing or removing some stuff along the way) I had loads of concept art and drawings back in 2019 but sadly those old arts were, ummm, forcedly deleted after a disagreement with someone I trusted, haha. The pain for a FT user in ibis paint. 。゚(TヮT)゚
Then 2023, I wanted to move forward. So I decided to give it a shot and start drawing again. I wanted to share my AU (better late than ever),\\\(۶•̀ᴗ•́)۶//// and also I thought it will help overcome my fear of drawing and start liking to draw again.
Anyway, here we have Player’s design concept (+ explanation):
Tumblr media
Version 1:
Player actually does not inhibit Frisk’s body, as they are not trap in the game, instead, they have their own “Avatar” basing on the data and sprites of Frisk and Chara. (The situation is more towards VR? AR? I’m not sure what to call it) The Player has their memories intact.
The story is just Player goofing around in Undertale, until plot happens, but I didn’t really like the idea as I have no clue how to progress the story forward, so the whole story was re-written.
Player mostly hack codes, while Frisk has the Reset/Reload button.
Initially, their eyes didn’t change colour when using abilities. But I wanted to distinguish what and when the abilities are used.
Version 2:
This is where, I decided that the Player actually inhibits Frisk body, though they are not amnesiac. Frisk is like a ghost (narrator?) here. The image above is post-skip version to maybe 1 year trapped in Undertale. This idea was scrap and rewritten due “Chara” ‘s story and I wanted to involved Gaster in the story. (Also, because I didn’t want to draw this version hairstyle anymore, hahaha (  ≧ᗜ≦))
Player has both the hacking and reset/reload abilities.
This version of Player is more uptight and serious.
Version 3:
I think this is like 2nd or 3rd version of the finalise concept.
Our current Player. I made the hairstyle simpler.
This Player inhibits Frisk body and is amnesiac. The personality shifted so it’s easier for the player to act consistent. This version is more carefree than ver 2, they are similar to ver 1.
Tumblr media
First design of the Player (ver 3).
Despite being ver 3, I wanted to keep a bit of the ver 1 and 2 hairstyle but decided not to. Again, I wanted a simpler hairstyle.
This personality is just them being stress and filled with anxiety. A nervous wreck and a crybaby. Cries a lot at the first arc until they pull themselves together. But I didn’t wanna make them cry all throughout the story, if I continued to write them like that, I might ended up smacking Player myself hahaha. I ended up toning down the personality.
Gaster would have replace Frisk as the ghost (narrator?). But I decided not doing it, because it conflict with the plot. That, and the story would be over much quicker with him around.
Side note: I had to change the relationship between Sans and the Player(hate, confuse, no interaction, chill, idk? etc), a lot of times, but in the end I decided to make him not trust the Player.
Previously in most iteration, he just hates Player.  I planned to have him to kill the Player the first time they exited the ruins, but decided to go against it as it doesn’t really fit his style. Also, the story would go very differently if he did commit to it. Maybe one day I can make him kill them. In an alternate timeline maybe. ꉂ (´∀`)ʱªʱªʱª
Tumblr media
Extras: Player in different outfits (loosely)based on the other fallen humans in this AU. (+ ruin outfit)
There is a reason, why the Player had worn some of these outfits in chapter 3 and 4.
Don’t worry, it’s not originally the clothes worn by the other children, Toriel made them. She has spares. (Sorry, to the one that find it creepy, when it was first shown, hahahaha)
And, that’s all for now I am able to share, I wanted to show more, but I’m afraid, that’s already in the spoiler territory.
Anyways-! Thank you again for the follow, each and every one of you are the best! And I hope you enjoyed the upcoming story!

so, funny story
when I was trying to get a picture of ascended Gale that I liked for my fic about, well, him ascending, I decided to speedrun the last half of act 3 in my Dani saves. I knew if I just launched from the morphic pool save I had and went to the end, Gale would reject godhood, because Dani was like “I don’t need the stars I love you as you are” AS SHE SHOULD and he was so smitten that even trying to be like “but power?” at the last minute would result in him being like “haha no are you crazy I’m a better man now” AS HE SHOULD
so I had to go with an earlier save
and in that save I decided I would just encourage him to go with godhood and skip very quickly through conversations and skip all the stuff I had to do to run to the morphic pool. we’re talking ZOOMZOOM through act 3 to the epilogue, sorry Wyll, sorry Shadowheart, there will be no Ansur or House of Grief, like bitch we didn't even talk to Raphael or crash his house we had to GO
I didn’t zoomzoom through Gale’s confrontation of Mystra because tbh god-path Gale’s spat with her in the Tabernacle scene is worth a watch, it’s very cathartic (and I think she explains things better when he’s mad at her but I digress)
but essentially the plan was to do the boat scene with Gale, go yell at Mystra, kill Orin, bop over to the brain, give it a good smack, boom epilogue
Problem: I hadn’t encountered Sarevok yet, so I couldn’t make it to Orin
now, Sarevok isn’t a super tough fight but he’s a pain and I was in a rush. so the quickest way to get the amulet of Bhaal was to…well, become an unholy assassin and kill Valeria
(Which I hate Valeria so like on the one hand, cathartic, on the other, Dani would never and Gale was AGHAST)
(Side note #2: he did immediately follow up the mention of him not approving by saying that Dani’s eyes were capable of tenderness while she was still covered in blood from the unholy assassin baptism so…………yeah)
anyways now that we’re unholy assassins (sorry Gale) we bop over to Orin. I’ve got this all planned: we’ll just blow her up.
well, no, we won’t because when Orin jumped over to where Karlach was waiting with 8 barrels of smokepowder and runepowder bomb, Orin still had 2 unstoppables, and I, like a FOOL, didn’t think to use Gale’s turn to cast magic missile to get rid of them, because I’m thinking “these barrels are going to all explode, that’s multiple hits, it’ll be fine”
reader it was not fine
I blew up the barrels and you how much damage Orin had received?
8 smokepowder barrels and a runepowder bomb took one ONE UNSTOPPABLE. BITCH WAS STILL INVINCIBLE.
and then she killed Karlach dead dead and it all went downhill from there and we all died I was out of saves so I had to reload back to the boat scene with Gale
thus began Dani’s villain era
we go yell at Mystra, we go stabbity stab Valeria (Astarion ends up in the baptism because, idk, reasons, but good for him), we bop over to Orin, we fight Orin the old fashioned way (aka with magic missiles and cloud kill and stuff), and then Dani steals her armor and turns it black and puts it on and I’m like “wait a minute she’s looking, like, really hawt”
so I put Gale in Gortash’s fit and then we went and dominated the world
temporarily of course because I did need my epilogue but like look at her
Tumblr media
of course I was going to let her dominate the brain for a bit
so we did
Tumblr media
and anyway I guess the lesson is let your ocs become villains together for a minute??
anyways thanks for reading please enjoy my two OOC villain babies kissing like ten feet from Orin’s dead body I guess
Tumblr media
what if we kissed inside the lord murder’s temple

Random bg3 confessions:
I fucked the Emperor in my first playthrough, back when only 5% of players had done so
Rolan has accidentally died in various ways in all of my playthroughs, I'm determined to keep him alive in my current one but we'll see :/
I let Astarion drain me of all my blood and kill me because it's hot and I get to punch him after
My characters all let Astarion drink their blood every night because it makes me (and Astarion) happy, and most of the time I don't even bother to remove the debuff
I got a rare achievement in my first playthrough by sparing Sazza's life three times
On my good!durge run, I still got the slayer form anyway by completely cheesing the game
I cut off Gale's hand in one playthrough and sent him off to die alone in another, despite him being one of my favorite characters
I cannot fight with Gale to save my life. Idk if it's a wizard problem or a me problem, but in battle he is constantly dying and missing every attack. Instead of playing on tactician mode I just play with him in my party to up the difficulty.
I regularly breakup with Astarion to hear all his dialogue, then quickly reload a save
I can't bring myself to kill any cats in this game, so I turned on nonlethal when fighting the gremishkas
I am not above save scumming if I'm determined to have something epic happen, like I reloaded countless times to get the displacer beast to side with me
I slaughtered all the people in umberlee's temple in my first playthrough since I lost access to their quest thinking that's how I get the wave mother robe- turns out you can't get it that way.
I went through my whole first playthrough having no fucking clue who Wulbren Bongle is because I failed to rescue the gnomes at moonrise (accidentally)
I skipped the entire mountain pass and a big chunk of Lae'zels quest in my first playthrough
In one of my playthroughs I broke my paladin oath to side with Glut and slaughter all the myconoids, apparently too naive to figure out that there was in fact a "wrong side" to pick in this situation (astarion approving should've been a big hint)
I was too dumb to solve the chess puzzle, so I just blasted my way through the whole thing
Likewise, I just googled the answers to the brain puzzle in the oubliette even though it was pretty simple because I'm lazy
Having a naked statue of Astarion in my camp has become tradition
When I first got Astarion's confession scene, I squealed and kicked my feet like a schoolgirl. I'm 30
I started romancing Wyll in my first durge run, knowing full well I was going to pick Astarion again in the end. I felt so bad turning him down
Even tho most of the characters I play are good aligned, that doesn't stop me from greedily robbing every last little thing from every home and establishment I find like the Grinch. By the end of the game I have more gold than I could ever conceivably spend on anything
I'm pretty sure I got Kagha to redeem herself, solved the problem at the grove, but still slaughtered her in the end anyway with no consequences simply because I didn't like her
I have still never ascended Astarion, or given any of the characters their bad ending (except for killing Gale)

Flowey on a date with temmie?
Flowey tries his best to be a gentleman. Bud ends up killing her because of her annoying woice.
Flowey then resets to the beginning of the date thinking he can forsure do it the 3. Time.
*claws my way out of a dirt hole clutching a oneshot like a lifeline* hey guys! sorry I went missing mysteriously. Anyway, loved this prompt, here ya go @pomegranate29, and don't worry my esteemed mutual @ihonestlydunnowhattocallmyself, yours is great too and I'll make sure to write it soon.
Sorry for any typos, I proofread it once or twice so it should be all right. I decided to include the Green Soul even though they probably wouldn't have met Flowey, creative liberties and such.
~~~
“What do you mean, you ‘arranged me a date’?!”
Daisy, the brown-haired human child with a green soul Flowey was allies with, giggled and nodded. “With Tem!”
“Why on Asgore’s green earth would you do that?” asked Flowey, frustrated. Daisy may be his ally, as well as the one in control of the save/load power at the moment, but he definitely felt like strangling them with his vines right now.
“I won’t want you to be lonely when I leave the Underground,” Daisy answered with a wink.
“Right, right…’when you leave the underground…’” Asgore had always said it was the thought that counted in a gift–for instance, he insisted he appreciated the thought while almost dying of buttercup poisoning–but Flowey thought that advice was kind of rot. “Daisy, I’m going to stand her up.”
“What! No!” Daisy grumbled. “In fact, I’m going to be your escort, chaperone, and waiter just to make sure you attend this. Just try to be a gentleman, all right?”
Try to be a gentleman. Okay, Flowey didn’t mind acting a part. ‘Gentleman’ sounded pretty grown up. Trying to suppress a certain Asriel-ish feeling where his chest would be, Flowey just nodded. “Okay.”
“Wow,” Daisy marveled. “I thought you were going to need much more convincing.”
Flowey could tell right away that Daisy was happier than they had been since falling down here and getting a bounty placed over their head. Maybe that's why Flowey didn’t kill Tem as soon as she walked into the room–to satiate his enthusiastic little ally.
Besides, he was trying to be a gentleman. He gave Daisy a quick cue, and they took off his hat for him in a gesture of respect. “Ma’am,” Flowey greeted.
“Oi! Me TEMMIE! Welcom to TeM DAte!”
“Thanks,” answered Flowey.
Daisy clapped their hands excitedly. “Let's start a conversation!”
Tem looked at Flowey expectantly. Flowey realized he was expected to give a conversation prompt. “Okay, geez, uh…Okay. Let's say everyone in Tem village was put in an arena and forced to kill each other. Who would be the last one standing?” It was an excellent prompt, one Chara had once given that made Toriel scowl.
Tem thought hard. “HmM…TeM thincs it wuld b…TEM!!!”
“Which one?” asked Flowey.
“U now…TeM!!!”
“BUT WHICH–ugh, fine.” Daisy had shot Flowey a warning look. “What weapons would they use?”
“TeM wEpOns!!!” answered Tem enthusiastically.
“Stabby or sharpy or other?”
“TeM!”
Flowey lost his temper. “There’s no such thing as Tem weapons! I would know if there were! I've killed all of you thousands of times with thousands of weapons and I've never once come across ‘tem’ weapons!!!”
Tem started sweating and comically slid out of frame. “Tem got uncomfortable and left,” Daisy explained, crestfallen.
“Thank the angel that's over,” muttered Flowey.
“I’ll reload,” Daisy decided placidly. “Let's try again.”
“WAIT! NO NO NO–”
Flowey could tell right away that Daisy was happier than they had been since falling down here and getting a bounty placed over their head. Maybe that's why Flowey didn’t kill Tem as soon as she walked into the room–to satiate his enthusiastic little ally. For the second time, apparently.
Besides, he was trying to be a gentleman. He gave Daisy a quick cue, and they took off his hat for him in a gesture of respect. “Ma’am,” Flowey greeted.
“Oi! Me TEMMIE! Welcom to TeM DAte!”
Daisy smiled. “Water?” they offered.
“GrAPe JUICE!!!1!” answered Temmie. Daisy nodded, filled up Flowey’s glass without him asking (he didn’t even have hands) and hurried to retrieve grape juice.
Tem began telling Flowey a lengthy and surprisingly poetically worded anecdote of the story of how, in her childhood, she had found a seashell in Waterfall, swapped it for bread, then gave it to a starving orphan who needed it more. The voice was high-pitched and gurgly, grating against Flowey’s nonexistent ears until cartoon smoke came out of them. Unable to stand it a single second more, (plus it would be interesting to see how Daisy would react to returning to the room to find Temmie dead,) he made short work of strangling her to death while her comically wide eyes stared into his soul, shocked, before dusting.
Daisy walked back in and gasped, dropping the juice. “Flowey!” they exclaimed rebukingly. “What did you do?”
“I killed her,” answered Flowey, somewhat sheepish despite himself. Daisy frequently had that moral affect–not just on Flowey, but on everyone. Now they were staring at the dust and beginning to cry.
“Stop crying,” Flowey said crossly.
“It’s ruined,” the seven-year-old sobbed. “Everything is ruined. Temmie wouldn’t have died if I didn’t arrange the date.”
“You’re forgetting that you have the save/load ability,” Flowey returned.
“But I saved right before we came inside,” sniffled Daisy. “I’d al-already arranged the date…”
“Then just–” Flowey sighed, trying to figure out how to stop their crying. “Just do this again, okay? I won’t kill her again.”
Daisy pursed their lips and studied Flowey’s expression. They wouldn’t find their answer there, Flowey knew–he pulled an Asriel smile on the child, who finally decided to reload.
Flowey could tell right away that Daisy was happier than they had been since falling down here and getting a bounty placed over their head. Maybe that's why Flowey didn’t kill Tem as soon as she walked into the room–to satiate his enthusiastic little ally. For the third time, apparently. Angel, how many more times was Daisy going to make him do this?
Besides, he was trying to be a gentleman. He gave Daisy a quick cue, and they took off his hat for him in a gesture of respect. “Ma’am,” Flowey greeted.
“Oi! Me TEMMIE! Welcom to TeM DAte!”
“So, do you come here often?” asked Flowey finally as Daisy watched expectantly.
“TeM live here…EVeRY DAY!” answered Tem.
“Right, right.” Flowey nodded. “So, er, what are your hobbies?”
“cARDBOARD!”
“That’s a noun…”
Temmie rose from her seat. “I wiL shOW u!!!!” Leading Flowey behind the counter of the Tem shop, Daisy following close behind. Temmie pressed a brick. Slowly the wall rearranged itself into a door frame. Impressed, because he hadn’t found this secret yet, Flowey entered the dark room.
“LIGHT!” screamed Temmie. The lights turned on. Dozens of intricately carved, flat cardboard statues crowded the room. Daisy gasped in delight and even Flowey drew in a breath at the beauty of Tem’s statues. Waterfall, Snowdin, Hotlands. The Ruins’ door. Cutouts of things that only existed on the surface. Symbols and trinkets. And everyone in the Underground! Flowey admired the detail of each statue, thinking about all the different ways he had killed these people happily, until suddenly he noticed Toriel and Asgore. And with them…a goat boy and a small human child with their face shoved in a bouquet of golden flowers, not visible. The iconic striped shirt was there, though. Flowey felt cold as he looked into Asriel’s eyes–Temmie had managed to capture a quality of bright kindness to a tea–then gazed intently at the Chara statue. Temmie must have copied directly off the palace tapestry, though where she had found it was a mystery. Asgore had had it taken down when he declared war on humanity.
“Flowey, look,” Daisy said urgently, gesturing wildly towards some of the statues, carved out of cyan, orange, blue, and purple. Why did Daisy care so much about these random–oh. These must be the other fallen humans.
Daisy stared, a fog of sad contemplation covering the usual sparkle in their eyes. “Do you really think I’ll be the exception? They all died. Why am I going to be different?”
“Meh.” Flowey responded. Honestly, Daisy was bound to have their soul reaped eventually. But he didn’t want to stress them out.
“cARDBOARD!” cheered Tem. Then she kissed Flowey.
Flowey started choking her with his vines in retaliation, but Daisy started yelling at him to stop, so he reluctantly put her down.
“Say thank you,” Daisy told him.
“Thank you,” Flowey told Temmie.
“uR wELcome!” Tem grinned as the pressure marks on her throat faded. “eNjoY tHE cArDBoARd!”
We've angered enough gods, lol. I think there's only... one that's on our side right now??? Anyways, MILD GALE and MASSIVE GONDIAN/IRONHAND GNOMES SPOILERS BELOW.
Tumblr media
Welcome to the anxiety club!
Tumblr media
PFFFT. Mood.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Astarion, you literally gave up the chance to be a Vampire Ascended. What are you talking about???
Tumblr media
OH SHIT GORTASH. HEY. HI. SORRY I MISSED YOUR ORDINATION CEREMONY. MY BADS. HONESTLY HAD NO IDEA WHERE IT WAS TAKING PLACE BECAUSE OF HOW SIDETRACKED AND DISTRACTED I GOT. HOW'S IT GOING??? WASN'T EXPECTING TO SEE YOU HERE.
Tumblr media
Alskjfldkjfldkjfldk, I was so tempted to go with number three. I love that it's even an option. You can see Astra contemplating the pros and cons of telling him to "f" off.
Tumblr media
OMELUUM!??? BUDDY!??? YOU'RE HERE!??? WHY ARE YOU HERE!???
So many surprise encounters and I'm just trying to finish my massive list of sidequests.
Anyways, long story short I freed all but one of the hostages- that one was killed on his way running out by the enemies. Astra and Wyll were also... blown up, because Astra died and Wyll wouldn't have made it out. Omeluum got Karlach out just in time. Astarion was the first to reach the ladder.
All the baddies decided they were gonna gang up on my girl. T_T It was very rude of them. Poor Karlach had to do all the lockpicking. I had to keep reloading so she could roll natural twenties because she needed a 25. RIP. I probably could have restarted and sent Astarion that way instead, but, well, it's fine.
Everything's fine.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Poor Astarion. I find it absolutely hilarious that the game put him in charge since Astra was out of commission. Just, oh, what's that? Your wife died? Your turn to hold the braincell, then!
Imagine him getting up to the submarine and waiting for everyone to hurry up, and Karlach and Omeluum appearing- but Astra and Wyll are nowhere to be seen, and Karlach is like, "I tried to help her, but the bastards shot her back down! Before I could try to carry her and Wyll, squiddie over here teleported me."
Omeluum: "A thank you for saving your life would have sufficed..."
And the prison is already exploding so Astarion has no choice but to maneuver the submarine to safety.
Tumblr media
WITHERS, PLEASE, MAN IS TRYING TO REVIVE HIS WIFE. BESIDES, HE'S MOST LIKELY GREY-ACE, ANYWAY. LEAVE HIM ALONE.
Tumblr media
Astarion did not wake up this morning thinking he was going to have to revive Astra and Wyll.
Tumblr media
I've.... never actually had to revive a character yet. I've always been able to "help" them back up, so Withers and the twenty Revivify Scrolls I have were just... chilling all seventy hours of my playthrough so far. Huh.
ONWARDS TO THE FACTORY.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
BADA BOOM, BABY!!!!
Tumblr media
Gods, I can't stand this asshole. Genuinely regret saving him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
YOU TELL HIM!!!! GO OFF, KINGS!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I am... so proud of Barcus right now, oh my gods. This is so satisfying. Finally he's breaking things off with that toxic genocidal asshat. I knew it was too much to expect an apology from Wulbren, but for Barcus to call him out on his bullshit and dump his sorry ass??? PERFECTION. I love this gnome so much. He does his best.
Tumblr media
DON'T YOU FREAKING DARE LAY A HAND ON MY BOY BARCUS WROOT. I WILL FIREBALL AND MAGIC MISSILE YOUR FACE IN, WULBREN. KARLACH WILL CLEAVE HER AXE THROUGH YOUR SKULL.
Tumblr media
HA!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
BARCUS, MY BOY!!!!!!!!! I AM SO PROUD OF YOU RIGHT NOW!!!!!
losing my mind like. sorry i know i never shut up about dark pete burning the whole mafia world down to save vegas and macau but. i've seriously been losing my mind over it like
give me vegas and macau being late home after vegas went to pick macau up at school on his bike and not answering their phones and pete immediately knowing something is wrong. give me pete calling chay to ask if he saw them actually leave together and then, at chay's affirmative answer, calling arm all business-like: "i need a favor, but you can't tell anyone about it. if you won't help me just say so right away, i don't have time to waste." give me pete asking arm to hack into the security cameras on the way from macau's school to their home and watching all the footages until he spots a van cutting vegas' bike off and then taking vegas and macau away.
give me pete figuring out it's not a ransom situation but a personal vengeance. give me pete manipulating, bribing, maiming, and torturing people, promising them not to kill them if they give him the information he needs and then killing them anyway because whoever was behind this can't know pete is coming and dead men tell no tales. give me kinn and porsche eventually finding out what’s happening and asking pete why he didn’t go to them for help. give me pete answering, cold and detached, ‘frankly, i haven’t ruled out the involvement of the main family in this, yet. nor of the new minor one.’ give me porsche’s indignant ‘ai’pete!’ before trying to stop pete from leaving. give me pete pointing his gun at porsche because yes, porsche is his friend and pete loves him dearly, but that’s pete’s family they’re talking about and no one – NO ONE – is gonna tell pete how he has to go about saving it, if someone was stupid enough to think they could mess with vegas and macau now that they don’t hold the title of heirs of the minor family anymore, well then pete has to show them just how fucking wrong they are and bring them as an example for everyone else.
give me pete finally finding out who’s behind it and where they are keeping vegas and macau and getting ready to bring down an entire building full of people armed only with a gun and a knife. give me pete being smart about it, using stealth and smoke bombs to conceal his attacks, preferring the knife over a gun he would have to reload over and over again, putting into practice his experience as a boxer and all of chan’s teachings: circle around the target rather than move in a straight line; forgo the heart and target the abdominal aorta that sits unguarded at the top of the abdomen at the meeting of the ribs; if the opponent is guarding their vital targets well, strike at less vital areas to make the defender move and then go for the carotid in the neck, the brachial artery in the arm or the radial artery in the forearm, the femoral artery in the leg, the abdomen. give me pete finding macau locked alone in a room and macau not caring about the blood covering pete from head to toes and just hugging him tight because pete really came for them. give me pete handing the gun to macau because there’s no way he’s leaving macau behind and the two of them fighting their way to wherever they’re keeping vegas. give me vegas tied to a chair, half-high with whatever drug they injected in his system to keep him from fighting back, a constellation of cuts and bruises all over his body. give me vegas never seeing something so beautiful as pete, covered in blood and knife in hand, killing the dudes assigned to keep guard to vegas' room and then dropping on his knees in front of vegas to gently cup his face and put their foreheads together.
and the fucker who did this? give me pete dragging him in front of vegas and macau and not killing him right away, but slowly cutting him up and tearing him apart for every wound he can see on the two brothers: a tooth for macau’s split lip, an eye for the bruise blooming on vegas’ cheekbone, all of his fingers for vegas’ broken arm. and then, finally, give me pete bringing vegas and macau home and the three of them piling together in the same bed, holding each other all night, their little family of three that no one is allowed to touch.
Everyone in Mass Effect 1 is so messed up.
Kaidan: So I was more-or-less forcibly recruited into an evil boarding school for biotics. It was awful, and included instructors physically assaulting students.
Cassie: Shit, that’s awful. I’ve got a few biotic horror stories of my own, but I can’t say I’m sorry I missed the whole “Brain Camp” fiasco.
Kaidan: You have expressed empathy for my situation! Our love is undeniable!
Cassie: What? No.
Kaidan: WE SHALL BE WED AT DAWN.
Cassie: *hits him with a rolled up newspaper* NO!
RELOAD TIME
Kaidan: So I was more-or-less forcibly recruited into an evil boarding school for biotics. It was awful, and included instructors physically assaulting students.
Cassie: Kaidan, I do not give the least of fucks about your childhood trauma. Can we be friends now?
Kaidan: Uh. Okay?
Cassie: Good. Remind me to pick up some pills for your migraines next time we’re on the Citadel.
---
Ashley: Do you have a problem with my religion, Commander?
Cassie: ... Ash, I’ve given zero thought to your religious beliefs. But I am a little concerned that you seem ready to fistfight me in the cargo hold over them. What gives?
Ashley: Uh. A career spent alternately scrubbing toilets and being sent on suicide missions because my grandpa wasn’t so keen on doing the whole Spartan 300 thing over a misunderstanding with the turians has kind of fucked up my fight-or-flight reflex?
Cassie: Huh. We will mellow you out eventually.
---
Liara: Commander, your brain is full of sexy Prothean mysteries, and you just saved my life. I am definitely in love.
Cassie: Liara, you just almost died, your mother has turned into a supervillain and, if I understand your species’ lifespan correctly, you are about the equivalent of nineteen. Maybe rethink this?
Liara: You’re cute when you’re logical.
Cassie: *hits her with a rolled up newspaper* NO!
---
Garrus: Can’t we just blow up the ship with the bad guys on it? There are only about ten civilians on there.
Cassie: *hits him with a rolled up newspaper* NO!
---
Tali: GENOCIDE WAS NOT A MISTAKE.
Cassie: *hits her with a rolled up newspaper* IT REALLY WAS!
---
Cassie: How are you doing, Wrex?
Wrex: Eh. Honestly I’m kind of burned out.
Cassie: How do you mean?
Wrex: Well, I was trying to work out a plan to rebuild my civilisation after suffering an act of genocide. And – you have to understand – this was after we were conscripted into a galaxy-wide war, and after we had experienced a nuclear apocalypse, so we’ve been having a rough couple of millennia. Anyway, my father betrayed me, killed my followers, and I had to kill him. All because endless warfare was somehow the only krogan way, even though the ruins on our planet clearly indicate that we had a functioning civilisation before we blew it up. So now I just try to make a semi-honest living and not expect too much of other people.
Cassie: I mean – it can’t be all bad?
Wrex: Every planet we go to, humans seem to be trying to enslave the rachni, or a sentient plant, or something equally stupid.
Cassie: ... That’s a fair cop.
---
Pressley: Hey, commander? Apropos of nothing, I’m a bit xenophobic.
Cassie: *hits him with a rolled up newspaper* NO!
---
Cassie: Crew, this is Commander Shepard delivering a ship-wide announcement. If I’m ever off the ship, Wrex is in charge. Are we clear? Wrex. If Wrex and I are ever both off the ship at the same time ... you’re all doomed. That will be all.
So, my Honour Mode Anathematisma Run, aka "How Many Ways Can I Fuck Up This Run Without Dying"
So, I got the Friends cantrip, which I've never really used before on this difficulty level. This is important for down the line.
Ana is RIDICULOUSLY powerful because I installed a cambion mod because it's what Hell's Little Princess deserves.
We easily demolish most of the early Act 1 things that can end an Honour Mode run easily, even getting the Everburn blade.
Then...we get to the Grove. I'm not able to prevent Zevlor from being punched by Aradin, but it's *fine*. Kagha's there, wants to speak with us, etc.
Ana goes to talk with her with her bardy powers
Because this is Honour Mode and redos are MUCH more expensive (and I don't want Arabella to die), I use. The Friends cantrip.
It succeeds, Arabella runs free.
Then...it runs out. Kagha and co. turn hostile immediately.
Worse, when I try to run out as a way of getting RID of the temporarily hostile buff, the druids decide that's the time to start the tiefling genocide party. I'm able to take down Kagha and the remaining druids, but then I have to take down the rest outside.
It's...not pretty.
I'm able to put them down, but there are a lot of casualties. Including Wyll and Dammon. Wyll...who is Ana's canonical love interest.
Okay, fine, this would make me reload another game, but we can move ON from this. It'll be *fine*. Especially once I resurrect Wyll. We're back on track.
I still have to give Rath money in order to make him like me again even though he turned on Kagha.
...I go to recruit Karlach. She shames me for killing everyone in the Grove. Calls Wyll a rat.
...well, she's not joining our side AND was rude, so she's gotta die.
Okay, so a lot of people are dead AND Karlach's dead, but we can move on from this.
I go to the Owlbear cave after convincing the expendable Absolutists to avenge their brother. The owlbear cub stays hostile after I kill both of the older owlbears. I have to knock it out. (I'd been hoping to trigger Wyll Approval Points by sparing it in the cutscene)
I go to the Zhentarim locked in the cave. Unfortunately, even though I succeed in convincing Flind to kill all her pack mates, I'm not able to get her to eat herself. So she's gotta go.
I'm not able to win this fight because my team's exhausted after everything else, so I'm able to book a retreat with Astarion.
I get everyone resurrected, do a long rest, go back, kill Flind. Rugan and his buddy are dead, but they're Banites (albeit hot Banites), so I don't care about them.
Go to Waukeen's Rest, save everyone there, go to the Zhentarim hideout, hand over the chest. I go to negotiate for the painter's release. And I use. Friends.
I have to fight the Zhentarim.
At least I got a Titanstring bow out of it.
Astarion is lagging behind in approval, so I decide to go to the swamp. He kills Gandrel instantly because he hasn't revealed he's a vampire.
I go back to the Goblin Camp, prepared to kill the leaders + make it to the Underdark (it's...going to be fun giving Halsin the news). I go to Priestess Gut, especially since she's USUALLY the easiest to kill.
...some combination of my dialogue means she isn't willing to even talk to me and tells me to go away. So I have to initiate combat. I cast Silence so she won't call for help, but she runs outside of it and does it anyway.
She then DRAGS Roah Moonglow, aka One of the OTHER Best Merchants In Act One, into the battle. I have to put MORE Zhentarim down as well as deal with Priestess Gut.
Eventually, I kill all of them.
So, at the moment, Ana has a relatively poor relationship with Astarion (even though she allows him to munch on her), not NEARLY as good a relationship as she could have with Wyll (even though she's making him worse now that Karlach's gone), Gale has been asking for magical artifacts freakishly fast, we've lost a total of four merchants, the druids are dead, and Karlach is McFucking Dead. And I honestly have no idea whether the Owlbear Cub will spawn, especially since Korra is too focused on me poisoning her friends to want to play Chicken Chase.
And we still haven't had the chance for the Family Reunion with Raphael.
At least Ana's new design is hot?
Bg3 is insanely fun to me so far. very early in the game but knowing ive barely started makes me excited at the prospect of more cutscenes, quests, and character interactions..!!!
i was just talking to my friend about how easy it is to REALLY project yourself into the game because of how authentic and variable the character + spatial interactions are and i was like. oh god i would not survive in this world. i think for rpgs in general i will never not be able to separate myself from the chatacters i play as just because i control them. but they will always be a separate, well established character with just a bit of me in them. it's different in bg3 because of how my personal ideologies affect the storyline and characters around me, and i think it's really interesting playing a game where your character and the world around you arent narratively static or fixed (it also helps i customized my paladin) It feels real! and this isnt new, it's just very novel to me as someone who doesnt play games like bg3, and i wonder what other games offer this immersion? my only exposure to open world rpgs are genshin and botw/totk but they cant really compare because genshin has a linear storyline and you dont really influence the characters and teyvat because the narrative is already laid out (and it also clashes against the game's open world mechanic which makes the world feel, at least to me, very synthetic). botw is more of an exploration game since its whole point is testing the limits of open world. so it's not super story driven imo, not to say it doesnt have a solid story. but i love these games dearly, and bg3 offers a really satisfying and fulfilling extension to what i truly want in an rpg
but anyway that was just a tangent but basically i told my friend how my paladin pangy is kind of.. stupid. *I* am stupid. HAHAHA i happen to fall for a lot of schemes and am easily deceived. astarion killed me because i didnt shove him away after letting him bite me, afraid he might die of malnourishment. got pickpocketed by a kid (and my character ironically failed the perception check TWICE. i had no idea what was going on until my friend in call told me j just got robbed). believed the fake sobstory of the paladins who attacked karlach and had to reload my save slot so i had the upperhand. i have 0 survival instincts...it's almost ridiculous but also incredibly funny. it made me realize that this is a game worth taking seriously (and that im just. really clueless 🧍‍♂️). but the experience is fun, and i like how the stakes are high (for the most part). i have Got to get my shit together i cant get jumped like this all the time
Like just continuing my thought train here:
Toriel was about to talk some sense into him. He can't just up and leave the kids because he's still their dad. He still needs to be there for them, even when there's this harsher context that he's (most likely) killed them in reload timelines. (In fainess? Asriel has killed him in canon too)
Anyway point is she KNOWS asgore should own up to his fatherhood and take responsibility. Being self defeated, isolating and waiting to die does nothing but validate your ego. Asgore has to own up to his crimes and truly act as a King and do right for his people. Step down, work for peace, stop being a big baby about it.
But that'd mean confronting him, accepting him in her life, in the kids lives, and right now Toriel is exhausted. Likely tired before the comic started, worrying all day about Frisk until she saved them in pacifist. It's been hours, she's been scratched and burned and went through a literal delirious episode and -gestures to the mental damage the reloads have done to her-
Shes not going to accept that right now. She wants more than anything to have the kids to herself and do everything herself. Because when the world is this confusing and unstable and she's been so throughly betrayed the only one she trusts truly is herself. (And Sans, but that'll be rocky soon)
Which hey look, character arc. She needs to learn to accept others help and that she can heal. I feel it makes sense in canon that we don't get to explore her regressing her "fixed" trust issues with monsferkind. (Befriending Sans slowly let her open herself to others) but I GET to explore that cause this is post canon and i have the time/space to >:D
Toriel can have worsened relationships that can then be rebuilt stronger with the nuanced of if things go wrong, she can trust that they could work it through 😢
