i saw someone recently say that they preferred sambucky over stevebucky (either platonic or romantic tbh) because they felt bucky was happier not living under the shadow of his former self? suggesting that he intentionally spent most of him time post winter soldier away from steve because he didn't want to be compared to a former version of himself that he couldn't return to? I'm a big lover of stevebucky so the idea that steve wouldn't be able to stop comparing (even if subconsciously) post-ws bucky to pre-ws bucky made me question the ship slightly? or that bucky was actually happier without steve in the readjustment process bc he could become his own person without preconceived ideas of what he should be like hanging over his head. I've read a few fics about this and i kinda wanted to know what u thought - would steve's knowledge of the old bucky affect their relationship so negatively that bucky would be happier alone/with people unfamiliar with who he was before (sorry for the rambling question)
Thank you lovely for the very interesting ask! I love these kind of hypotheticals!
First and foremost, don't ever let anyone convince you that you're only allowed to ship one pairing. A lot of people DO only ship one ship, and kudos to them, but you are not a bad fan if you want to ship Bucky with multiple people. Heck, I got into Stucky via Sambucky, and uh…anyway, here I am.
The idea that "Bucky stayed away from Steve because he didn't want to be compared to old Bucky" is one of my favourite angsty "loss of innocence" tropes to explore -- because yes, that's going to be one of Bucky's major insecurities after the Winter Soldier. He isn't the same person as before and no matter how hard he tries, he's never going to go back to who he was before.
The absolutely fascinating part, then, is how a fanfic writer decides to address this. So yeah, I can see this as the jumping board for a SamBucky story (or any other non Stucky ship).
But this is also a concept that not only fits in well within the Stucky fanon/narrative, it's also crucial to explore in order to bring the two of them back together. How does Steve accept that Bucky has changed, and how does Bucky come to trust that Steve accepts this changed version of him?
The answer is, for me, this is Steve we're talking about. Steve with all his tenacity and empathy and loyalty. This is Steve who's known Bucky since childhood, who probably knows Bucky better than the current Bucky remembers himself. This is also a Steve has fought one of the bloodiest wars in history. He is young, but he's not naive. The people of his time didn't have the right words for it - but he has seen a lot of mental health issues on the field. He's come out on the other end of the war still believing in the goodness of humans (his "I'm willing to bet I'm not" speech), so I have no doubt he will look at Bucky and see that -- yeah, you've changed, you've had terrible things happen to you for well over half a century, but you are also still the same kind soul that I grew up with, and that kindness is what's most important; I can still see him in you, even if you are different, and I believe you deserve all the love I can give you.
And you know what, there IS canon evidence that Steve believes in Bucky, believes in the goodness that couldn't be burned away with 70 years of brainwashing. Sam saying to Steve - (Bucky) isn't the kind you save and he won't know you - and Steve replying without an ounce of doubt in his voice, "He will." Or Steve going after Bucky to save him from the SIT because "he'd have done the same for me".
I think another crux is that recent gif set - the "I'm following the little guy from Brooklyn" speech. That was a vow - it was Bucky saying "I loved you (platonically/romantically/wte) when you were a poor disabled scruffy kid in the dumps, and I will love you just the same even if you're a buff blue-eyed Adonis." Their story, as always, encircles each other's - it is now Steve's turn to say "I loved you when you were a nerdy protective flirt and I will love you just the same even if you're disabled and scruffy and dealing with horrendous PTSD". I think that vow also highlights just how important Steve was, even at that point, to Bucky, which means…their loyalty will always draw them back to each other. Once Bucky sees Steve has faith in him, he will have faith in himself to rebuild his identity in a way that's true to him.
It really depends on the writer, but most versions I’ve seen in which Steve and Bucky separate (over this issue) write Steve as either obtuse, selfish or emotionally immature…which is not how I read him to be. I think he has the emotional maturity to accept that Bucky will have similarities but will also have stark differences to who he once was...but then, time leaves its mark on everyone it touches, not just Bucky (I kinda touched on that concept on my "Learning to Want" fic *self plug*). It's a rough road and on some days there's going to be more setbacks than progress, and yeah on some days Steve is going to get frustrated and upset and maybe even a little defeatist, but I think both he and Bucky have that tenacious survivor streak in them that will pull them through, especially if they're together.

in the bleak midwinter*: an asoue/atwq peaky blinders au concept
...also known as the idea that’s been living in my brain for what must be a couple of years now; I have reconciled myself with the fact that I will never write this fic because I simply do not have enough patience to think it out and write it down in the way that would give it justice, so here’s a plot bunny or something.
This is basically the Sugar Bowl Generation of VFD (still young, before kids and all) meets All The Wrong Questions (some of the events + some of the kid characters of ATWQ as adults) meets season one of Peaky Blinders, but I guess it could be read and understood without the knowledge of the latter simply as an organized crime AU.
It’s the beginning of the interwar period, and VFD is a gang. Which, yes, would require a certain amount of OOC of the characters, though I imagine their intimidation tactics would still avoid too much bloodshed. They deal with bookmaking, contraband, and sometimes art forgery because even this version of VFD has to have something sophisticated about it. There’s a number of places, such as bars and clubs, that pay them for protection, and there’s also a number of places they own, such as the Hotel Denouement with the Denouement brothers in charge and the nightclub ran by Ramona Browning**, alias the Duchess (her father was some kind of aristocracy, see, too aristocratic to ever truly acknowledge her). They use their influence to become the informal rulers of their part of the City. They claim to strive for power to make the City a better place, and these are not just words - they do donate money to schools and libraries, for example - but it’s not like they don’t enjoy being in power, and their rule is still based on crime, those who threaten it being eliminated swiftly.
The Snickets are the Shelby family of this AU, of course. Lemony is Tommy - the mastermind, already a legend of sorts despite being the youngest, plagued by the horrors of war - but still hoping for the best, strange as it seems, because he’s still Lemony. Jacques is Arthur, the fighter suffering from PTSD. Kit is Ada, but she’s also Aunt Polly - she’s the one who ran the business while the boys were in the army.
Now, season one introduced Grace Burgess as an undercover police informant spying on the Peaky Blinders.
Enter Ellington Feint.
Ellington’s father, the only family she has left, has been kidnapped by a gang called the Inhumane Society, and she’d do anything and everything to save him. So she agrees to infiltrate VFD, their rival gang, to find out the whereabouts of a shipment of weapons that was meant for the Society but was accidentally stolen by VFD. Apart from machine guns and shells, the shipment includes some “statue of a sea beast”, and no one cares to provide more explanations to Ellington about it, but apparently it is the most important part of that cargo. So Ellington takes on the position of a barmaid in The Black Cat Bar, one of the places that pay VFD for protection and the one frequented by its key members, and starts listening and watching.
Ellington needs to get close to the Snickets, because if anyone knows where the weapons are, it’s them. Steward Mitchum, the corrupt cop on the Society’s payroll whom she is to meet from time to time at the Natural History Museum (which she used to attend with her father) to pass on the information, suggests she should seduce one of the Snicket brothers. The problem is, Ellington has a chance to learn very soon that Jacques doesn’t know much about the stolen cargo, and Lemony is too taken with his girlfriend, the music hall singer Beatrice Baudelaire, to even look at any other woman. There’s no getting between them, even though it seems Beatrice also has something going on with VFD’s bookkeeper Bertrand Markson, and Lemony seems aware of it.
So Ellington decides to approach Kit instead. Kit, who seems so lonely - Ellington doesn’t know the details, but there was some serious falling-out between her and her ex-boyfriend, who has since left the City (and won’t appear in this story. Olaf is the problem for the hypothetical season two of this imaginary show). Ellington doesn’t plan on anything other than a very close friendship - yet, the closer they become, the more she understands that she is attracted to Kit.
(There certainly is a variant of the “I warn you, I’ll break your heart” - “Already broken” scene in which Ellington sings to Kit)
Anyway. Things progress, and they fall in love. Well, Kit seems to have fallen in love, and Ellington keeps trying to persuade herself that she hasn’t, because Kit has to remain nothing but a task for her.
The location of the stolen weapons, however, still remains a mystery, even though Ellington once hears Kit and Lemony discuss it. Whatever the statue is, Lemony seems to believe it has great powers, and Kit seems to believe it’s nothing but folklore. Lemony tells her of the stories of a mysterious sea animal (or spirit, or whatever it may be) he heard from other soldiers during the war, about what Widdershins heard during his time in the navy. Kit tells him that everyone is a believer in a foxhole, and that she loves W like her own kin but he’s a bragging idiot. There was nothing on the sea other than enemy ships.
Elllington’s mission is complicated by Lemony clearly not trusting her. He tells her it’s because his sister has been hurt before, but she suspects it’s more than that. He even admits that he had his people make enquiries in Paltryville, the town she claims to have come from, and found out that no Ellington Feint ever lived there. When he suggests her secrecy is due to a child born out of marriage, she is eager to confirm that. (Cue him asking her if she’s read Les Misérables - yeah, even this version of VFD would be literature nerds, how can it be otherwise - because this whole situation reminds him of Fantine, and her lying that she hasn’t and thinking that she’s more of a Javert at the barricade, really).
Then there’s a masquerade party at the Duchess’s club, and Kit takes Ellington there as her date. (Which is okay, because if there’s any place in the City where a woman dancing with another woman or a man dancing with another man would not be looked at askance, it’s the Duchess’s club. If I was actually writing a fic, there would definitely be a scene in which Ellington observes Beatrice asking Bertrand to dance with her and Bertrand trying to decline by telling her that, since he didn’t have time to procure a mask, he shouldn’t be on the dancefloor at all, and then Lemony approaches him with a spare mask in hand and encourages him to dance with Beatrice and puts the mask on Bertrand himself and it somehow looks so intimate as if he’s undressing him and Ellington’s like “Oh, so it’s like that with them. This is probably of no use to me but still, good to know”).
When Kit disappears at some point, Ellington follows her quietly and eavesdrops on her conversation with one of the Denouements. He tells her that his brother is all right and sends his regards. Later at the party, however, Ellington sees two Denouements. Why would one of them send the other’s regards to Kit if they’re all in the same room? A couple of drinks with the already tipsy Olivia (officially a fortune-teller, but who knows what purposes VFD really uses her salon for?), and Ellington learns that there used to be three Denouements, actually. But the third brother, Dewey, had a conflict with one of rival gangs which nearly resulted in a war, had not Lemony agreed to dispose of Dewey. To stop that gang from going against VFD, he killed Dewey with his own hands.
Except he didn’t, Ellington thinks. Lemony must have staged Dewey’s execution, and now he’s out there very much alive. Perhaps this knowledge will come in handy.
Meanwhile, the Inhumane Society, who have other beef with VFD apart from the stolen weapons, are getting impatient. There’s a gun-fight which results in Ike Anwhistle dying and his grieving widow, Josephine, telling Lemony it is all his fault and leaving the city. (I know I said this is based on s1 only, but they’re the John and Esme Shelby of this story). And Bertrand is severely wounded. VFD needs another bookkeeper while he’s recovering, and Kit, who knows from The Black Cat’s owner Dashiell Qwerty that Ellington has also been keeping the books of the bar lately and doing it well, offers this position to her. This gives Ellington an opportunity to learn more about the asserts and resources of VFD - and a chance to discover some interesting notes scribbled next to the name of Dewey Denouement. Dewey Denouement, who is only officially dead, but still has a grave at the cemetery.
Ellington tells Stew she has an idea where the weapons and/or the statue might be hidden.
When she meets some of the members of the Inhumane Society to take them to the tomb, she is surprised to see Hangfire himself among them. She’s only seen him in passing before, this mysterious man with his face covered in bandages. They say he’s been horribly disfigured during the war. They also say he came back mad. When they’ve done some digging and unearthed, instead of a coffin, several crates of guns - and opened one of them to find a small statue of what seems like a very scary seahorse - Mitchum and Flammarion are suddenly shot down, and Lemony Snicket steps from behind a gravestone.
He’s been following them.
Of course he didn’t believe that all Miss Feint is hiding is an illegitimate child, Lemony tells them as he’s holding Hangfire at gunpoint. He’s been doing research. In fact, the man whose grave they’ve unearthed is presently in a unique position allowing him to make research away from the City. He’s found out that Ellington Feint is the daughter of a renowned naturalist Armstrong Feint, who’s recently gone missing. And then they managed to discover something more.
This is when Hangfire grabs a gun and points it at Lemony, and Lemony aims at Ellington instead, which for some reason stops Hangfire from shooting.
This is also when it turns out that Lemony has also been followed, and Kit Snicket steps from behind another gravestone, pointing a gun at her brother. He keeps aiming at Ellington, wearily telling Kit she isn’t really going to shoot him.
Kit tells him that unless he drops the gun, he’ll find out.
(When Ellington tries to speak to Kit, she just tells her to shut up. And it hurts, because Kit has stopped being just a mission a long time ago. And now she knows that Ellington’s been lying to her from the start. And she may not want Ellington to die, but she would also hardly ever forgive her. And that would be fair).
And then Hangfire tries to shoot Kit, and Ellington screams, and Kit manages to spring back, and Lemony fires at the man who tried to kill his sister, and suddenly Hangfire is bleeding out on the ground and calling out to Ellington in her father’s voice.
That is what they’ve also found out about Hangfire, Lemony tells her as she’s kneeling beside the body, unable to bring herself to uncover his face. He sounds genuinely surprised; he thought she knew.
Kit makes him let Ellington go and tells her she doesn’t want to see her ever again. And Ellington leaves. She takes a train to some seaside town she’s never heard of before and leaves. Her job is ended. Her father is dead. Her love affair that never should have happened is in the past. She still doesn’t know why her father lied to her when he could have just asked and she would’ve done anything, why he kept up this double life, what was the significance of the statue and what it might become in the hands of someone like Lemony Snicket. She is too tired and sick of it all to try to find out.
She manages to build a life in Stain’d-by-the-Sea. She works in a coffee shop and sings there in the evenings. She never sings the song she sang to Kit again. She marries a man she doesn’t have any truly strong feelings for.
Then, a year or so later, there’s a phone call, and the voice of the woman she loved and betrayed tells her she still can’t stop thinking of her.
*This phrase used by the Peaky Blinders upon the death of one of them is replaced by “The world is quiet here”. Obviously.
**My Last Duchess, referenced in ASOUE in connection with R, is written by Robert Browning.

Lo and behold, HERMANN is the one with a long list of hunky ex-boyfriends (and it drives Newt a little nuts)
a req sent in by @k-sci-janitor and filled TIMELY ENOUGH on their BIRTHDAYYYYY 🎉🎉🎉🎉 s/out to them for discussing this fic concept w me months ago and also today 👀
-----------------------------
It’s a relief to find out Hermann is gay. It’s not even because of Newt’s weird, repressed feelings for the guy—though he admits it’s equally a relief to know that he’s not barking up the wrong tree entirely. The thing is that Newt’s really not sure what he would do if Hermann wasn’t. Hermann has the distinct honor (displeasure?) of being Newt’s only friend in the Shatterdome, after all; this means aside from usual friendship duties (sitting with Newt at lunch, listening to him complain about his day, allowing himself to be dragged along to bars and movie theaters when they finally have a second to breathe), he’s also the person Newt goes to with tales of his romantic conquests (not that he has any), requests for dating advice (not that Hermann has any), and reassurances that whoever Newt has his eyes on that week is hot enough for him (could they ever be?). It’s just, like, easier to do that kinda shit with someone who would also be (hypothetically) eyeing up and dating dudes, if Hermann ever managed to take the stick out his ass and relax long enough to do stuff like that.
Hell, Newt would be first in line if he ever did. As it is, he just has to settle on knocking knees with Hermann under the mess tables and—for lack of a better phrase—checking the latest batch of ranger hopefuls out. Newt doesn’t normally go for the tall, built, and athletic type, but Shatterdome transfers are usually the only way he can score a date, because all the seasoned personnel know to avoid the weirdo biologist in the basement by this point. There’s a war on; desperate times call for desperate measures. Newt hopes at least a handful of them are desperate.
“He’s kinda hot, don’t you think?” Newt says under his breath to Hermann. He jerks his thumb over his shoulder at one of the new ranger trainees in line for soup behind them. He has dark hair and a nice smile, and—more importantly—Newt’s sure he’s been making eyes at their table for the better part of five minutes. He’s one of the latest batch that has only just arrived two weeks prior, and the smallest batch by far. Not many people are enlisting in the PPDC these days. Bad for the state of the world and Newt’s libido.
“Hm?” Hermann says.
“The guy behind us,” Newt says. “No, don’t be obvious about it—”
But Hermann turns, conspicuously, so (deciding it can’t get any more awkward than it already is) Newt sighs and turns with him. The dark-haired ranger notices: his smile hitches up an extra centimeter, and he winks.
At once Newt feels his ego swell. He winks back. “Still got it, dude,” he crows to Hermann, and is just rising from his chair to swoop into action when he realizes something; the ranger was not making eye contact with Newt. He was—and is—making eye contact with Hermann.
Hermann scoffs. “Oh, please,” he mutters to Newt. “If he thinks that’ll get him invited over again—”
But the ranger is abandoning his spot in line and jogging towards them, smoothing down his hair as he goes. He’s brimming with a palpable mixture of excitement and anxiety. “Hey, Dr. Gottlieb,” he says. “So, uh, last week was pretty fun?” It’s an invitation for approval, one which Hermann ignores in favor of jerking his shoulders noncommittally. The ranger presses on anyway. “It’s cool to see you. Haha. I, uh, just wanted to make sure you have my email, in case you want to get together again.”
“I have it,” Hermann says.
An awkward tension settles between them. Newt clears his throat in hopes of diffusing it, and the ranger’s eyes dart over to him. “I’m Newt,” Newt says. “Hermann and I work together.”
“Cool,” the ranger says. Disinterested. “Anyway, Dr. Gottlieb, I’m free whenever, so?”
“Yes, I’ll certainly email you,” Hermann says. He picks up his dinner roll and begins to spread butter over it, not bothering to look up when he adds “Lovely to see you again.”
The guy nods, and hurries back over to his friends, who begin debating something with him in hushed voices. Twice the group glances back at Hermann. Hermann’s—uh—friend seems to be blushing. Hermann begins to butter the other half of his dinner roll. “What the hell was that about?” Newt says.
Hermann sets down his roll and furrows his eyebrows. “What do you mean?”
“That,” Newt says. “Who was that guy?”
“Oh,” Hermann says. “Him.” He rolls his eyes, and to Newt’s alarm goes pink in the cheeks. “We had a, ah, a date, I suppose you could call it, last week. He turned out to be a bit rude, actually, not the very, er, courteous sort. Attentive. Or at least not as courteous as I like. You know.”
“I don’t,” Newt says.
“You know,” Hermann repeats, with more force on the know. His pink blush spreads down his neck. “In the—coupling—sense.”
“You hooked up with him?” Newt says, too loud. A few heads swivel in their direction, including Hermann’s quote-unquote date and his friends; Hermann whacks Newt in the shin with his cane, clearly mortified.
“Keep your voice down! I don’t want the whole bloody Shatterdome to know, do I?” Hermann hisses. “Yes, I had sex with him. I do occasionally take time to enjoy myself.”
Newt stares at Hermann in amazement. Hermann hooks up? Hermann hooks up with hunky guys? Hermann hooks up with hunky guys and then ghosts them? “I didn’t know,” Newt says. “That you…did that.” Months and months of talking about his shitty love life to Hermann and Hermann has never once bothered to volunteer information of his own. Newt always just assumed Hermann had put his emotional (and physical) needs on hold for the sake of the war. Apparently not.
“You never asked,” Hermann says. “Is it important?”
Yes, it is. Newt shakes his head. The rest of their dinner is quiet and without any further interruptions. It’s also without their usual bickering, though, which makes it feel oddly lonely, and when Newt gets back to his bunk that night, he can’t help but wonder what else he hasn’t discovered about Hermann yet. Or, really—what about Hermann’s love life he hasn’t discovered yet.
A bouquet of flowers arrives for Hermann at the lab a week later. Newt is the one to take the delivery, Hermann being too absorbed in his calculations and boring graphs, and also because Newt is harboring a secret hope they’re for himself from a secret admirer. No such luck. To Dr. Gottlieb, the heart-shaped label proclaims in pink cursive, and a few sentences of the sappiest attempt at poetry Newt’s ever seen follows. Love, Pedro. Newt smirks through a suffocating wave of jealousy, whether to be the one giving or getting the flowers he’s not sure. “Hey, Hermann,” he calls across the lab. “Your boyfriend getting persistent. Want me to stick these in water for you?”
Hermann grumbles something, then says “Boyfriend?”
“From the mess the other night,” Newt says. “The uncourteous one.” Newt double-checks the note. “Pedro. His heart is yearning for you, Hermann. Listen to this—”
But Hermann scoffs loudly before Newt can even start on the poem. “Don’t be daft,” he says. “That wasn’t Pedro. That was Jason.” He scribbles over something on his chalkboard and starts again on the line below it. “And Pedro is hardly my boyfriend—it was only dinner.”
“Dinner?” Newt squeaks.
“And drinks,” Hermann says.
“You’re seeing another guy?” Newt says.
Hermann finally turns around. “Does it matter if I am?” he says.
“Yes,” Newt says. “No? I don’t know?”
“I’m a grown man, Newton,” Hermann says. “I date. You ought to try it yourself—it does wonders for the nerves.” When Newt is clearly still unsatisfied, Hermann sighs. “I met Pedro on an errand to LOCCENT last month, and I found him charming. You’d recognize him—you actually, er, caught us in a bit of a compromising position the other night. Remember?”
Newt frowns. He hasn’t caught Hermann with anyway in any compromising situations recently—the only thing he can think of that could be considered remotely embarrassing is when he stepped out into the hallway the same time Hermann’s physical therapist did, and they ended up bumping into each other. But that was—oh, God, Newt’s an idiot.  “That was him?” Newt says. He just assumed anyone stopping by Hermann’s room after work hours would be there for physical therapy, okay? And there had been a lot of…noise. Well, he’s not going to think about that now. “But he was so hot! Do you only date, like, hunks or something?”
“Really, Newton,” Hermann says. “You’re making yourself upset over nothing.” The corner of his mouth twitches up. “Though one of my old ex-boyfriends did become an underwear model…”
“Dude,” Newt says, and before he can help himself, blurts out “Shit, maybe I should start going to the gym.”
Hermann gives him a strange, searching look, and Newt immediately clamps his mouth shut in horror. He’s really gotta start working on his brain-to-mouth filter. Or at least work on not sticking his fucking foot in it every five minutes. “As I said,” Hermann says, cryptically, and turns away (apparently satisfied with whatever he saw in Newt), “you’re making yourself upset over nothing. I hardly find the need to limit myself to ‘hunks’.”
“Uh,” Newt says. “Right.”
Whatever that means.

8 and 9!
( Fanfic asks! )
Thank you!
8. if you got a computer virus that deleted all your fics but had just enough time to save one before they were wiped out, which fic would you pick and why?
Oh, such a sad question! I can’t even think about this haha.
So, a lot of my completed fic is archived on one or more websites so it wouldn’t really be lost in this scenario. Thus I’ll focus on my WIPs and unpublished material.
Of my t100 fics, I would save my Sleeping Beauty AU, because there’s a large amount still in drafts but 2 chapters posted, and if I hypothetically lost my draft chapters and notes, I’d have to abandon it, and that would be a shame. That would be worse, imo, than losing the draft of something that’s never been seen by anyone but me.
Of all my fics ever, I’d say my long ST fic, because even though I wouldn’t lose much, I’d hate to lose a single word, rejected scene, outline, whatever.
9. the “you got kudos“ e-mail is usually much appreciated, but is there a fic you wish you didn’t get these e-mails for? if so, which one and why?
...So here’s an opinion that’s likely to make me enemies lol.
I hate kudos.
No one can agree on what their meaning is, which makes them objectively worthless. Some people use them to mean ‘I like this a lot!’; other people to mean ‘I liked it but not enough to comment,’ and other people, like me, to mean, ‘I read the fic.’ Because I never know what a kudos means to the sender, and because they mean nothing to me, and because I think they decrease the number of people who actually bother to comment, which is meaningful, I can’t stand them and consider them a negative innovation in fandom.
I still leave kudos myself because they’re very easy to give (also why they have no value), and they might be meaningful to the recipient. On my own work, I only notice them if I recognize a user name (did I please the friend?), or if a story has a particularly high (or low) kudos count.
Otherwise I don’t notice them and here’s why.
I have my fandom email open most of the time I’m online, so every time I got an email, I would get excited: is it a comment? is it something interesting? is it something fun? And instead it would be a kudos notification, and I would feel sad. And at some point I realized, there’s no reason I need to feel bummed out like this every single day. So I turned kudos notifications off. That was in February 2018. I thought I’d turn it back on after a few days when I discovered I missed the emails, but I did not miss them, and I have no regrets.
This isn’t to say people shouldn’t leave kudos on my fic. I hate the concept but now that I’m not getting notifications, it doesn’t do me any harm. If a reader likes giving kudos, that’s fine. And I know some people sort fics by kudos when searching for something to read, so it is valuable to me to have kudos for that reason. But like... if anyone leaves a kudos on my fic and thinks “the author will see this and she will be pleased”...sorry, I won’t. You’d be better off leaving a 1 or 2 or even 3-whole-word comment, which is just about as easy, and will actually be seen.
Anyway PSA/rant over. I can’t answer this question because the answer is: all fics. And that’’s why I don’t.

shuake and/or pegoryu for the ship thing uwuwu
001: Shuake/Akeshu
when I started shipping it if I did:
Honestly? Right from the get-go. I saw Goro at the TV station and when he opposed the Phantom Thieves but immediately took an interest in Akiren, and Akiren reciprocated that interest and there was no outward negativity expressed (by either Akiren or Morgana) towards their relationship, it was basically greenlit in my head. This was back in vanilla -- but the rest of the game, AND Royal, definitely just made it go stronger. The main reason was the fact that they could intellectually stimulate and interest the other with no ill will or malice, and that they both seemed to enjoy it.
my thoughts:
First of all, there’s the entire rivalry thing which I LOVE.
The whole concept of healthy rivalries always appeal in a relationship dynamic to me, because 1) they don’t “bore” each other due to the fact that there’s always going to be something keeping their interest up in a competitive way, 2) there’s no power imbalance due to the fact that the basis of any rivalry is that they are equals, and 3) both people in the relationship will always be striving to become better not for the other person, but because of the other person. Look at it this way:
There’s “I want to be the best version of myself to make you happy,” which is pretty much any other relationship dynamic that enforces self-betterment.
THEN, there’s rivalmance, which is, “I want to be the best version of myself because you motivate me to want to become a better person for myself,” which just honestly strikes a chord with me, mainly because it means that the relationship isn’t about pandering to one another, but about two people who can go up head-to-head, bare their souls and give each other everything they’ve got, and still come out stronger and happier than when they went in.
It’s exactly this in shuake that appeals to me so much -- that, of course, and the fact that they genuinely care about the other for who the other is, and not for anyone else. It’s especially blatant when you think about the fact that they both mirror each other in so many ways -- they both put on so many masks for the public and everyone around them; they’re both wildcards; they’re designed to mirror the other -- anyway, that list goes on for days.
The fact of the matter is that they can honestly, truly understand each other. There’s a saying -- “it is when dressed for a masquerade where you are most naked” -- that I think fits them really well. Their whole confidant route explores the many layers to their relationship and how they can fully understand the true depth of what the other means by using the guise of casual conversation as metaphor for the truth. Which you’ll know I obsess over if you’ve seen my post on their third confidant rank in Royal or small potatoes.
Oooops, that got a little long...
And of course, to no one’s surprise.
What makes me happy about them:
can’t i just say “everything” and be done with it
Okay but in all seriousness, I absolutely love how they’ve found someone so special for themselves in each other. Their relationship is so valuable to them, so important and meaningful that it’s truly something I think is precious. And that’s not even taking into account how much they would consider doing (and sacrificing) for the other if need be. Hell, Goro entrusts Akiren with his life mission (taking down Shido to let him rot) before intending to give up his own life in the engine room, and Akiren is given the absolutely heartrending choice to choose between Akechi or the world. The fact that it’s such a hard choice to make in and of itself is testament to how much it means. The fact that 2/2 exists is testament. The fact that Goro’s third awakening takes place at Leblanc, with Akiren, every little detail. They just. they mean so much to each other and that’s honestly one of the things that really makes me happy.
What makes me sad about them:
Nothing in particular about their relationship saddens me, per se? Like, they truly make me and each other happy by virtue of just being there. That’s not to say that their circumstances aren’t impressively saddening -- just take Proof of Justice, for example. The only thing that saddens me about their relationship is the tragedy of their circumstances: “If only we had met a few years earlier”? That hit. Well written angst is the best variant.
things done in fanfic that annoys me:
When. Akiren. is. mean-spirited. to. Goro. or. vice. versa. It’s just...not them? Like, Akiren knows what Goro’s been through, and seeing people write him making fun of Goro with the Phantom Thieves as anything further than light/playful teasing just makes me wince because it’s... cruel. Similarly, Goro’s a prick, yeah, but he’d never really go so far as to be needlessly cruel to Akiren and enjoy it for the sake of it. It’s just...blegh. I don’t like it.
things I look for in fanfic:
DYNAMIC! If any fic really nails their dynamic I absolutely adore it. The edge of competition, the proud and encouraging taunts, the innate bond and trust? Gimme that sweet sweet RIVALMANCE. The “do I hate you or do I hate what how you make me feel?” The “I want to get my feelings across but saying them would make it real and make it matter, so I’m going to layer it within thousands of metaphors and hypotheticals that I know you’ll understand regardless, but as long as I don’t let myself falter with my goal, it’s fine”
Ahem.
Basically I like them pining/trying to one-up each other and just generally relishing being in the other’s presence.
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:
GOD this is a hard one because I don’t really ship either of them with anyone else? I know for Goro there’s been a lot of akesumi stuff going around but that really isn’t my cup of tea, so for Goro I’d prooooobably go with Yusuke because akekita is cute, lol. I will say that I headcanon Akiren as massively bi and I’d be willing to settle for shuann but I don’t really see them romantically? Like, bi solidarity and that’s all? OH though I wouldn’t mind Akiren with Hifumi; that’s a cute ship too!
My happily ever after for them:
They’re happy as long as they’re together, in my heart. Given both of their characters I think they both do like the fast-paced life that keeps them stimulated, but they can only properly slow down when they’re with each other, just because of how well they truly understand each other and knows what the other needs. Their happily ever after is honestly just them being together, because home is where the heart is.
who is the big spoon/little spoon:
Real talk, they snuggle together and both kind spoon each other? Other than that they alternate between big and little spoon, depending on whose trauma is affecting them. Akiren claims to be the big spoon more often because he likes believing that he’s able to comfort Goro when confronted in his darker moments and be there to protect him and assure him that things aren’t gonna hurt him anymore, but Goro ends up being the big spoon a lot more frequently because Akiren takes up too many people’s problems and gets stressed out over them without dealing with his own issues first, so Akiren frequently needs to be reminded that he has someone to protect him too, and Goro’s more than glad to be able to fill that role, to be able to help heal instead of hurt.
what is their favorite non-sexual activity:
Anything, so long as it’s competitive! As long as they can aim to compete with the other or one-up the other, it’ll be absolutely engaging for the both of them, whether it’s a debate, a game of chess, battleships, darts, pool, baseball batting in Yongen-Jaya, or playing tennis. Just let them compete and get passionate about it, and they’ll both have the time of their lives. Seriously.

Klaine Fic - You’ll Always Be The Home - Chapter 2
Author: darriness
Fic Summary: Everything is finally settled in Kurt and Blaine’s life…right?
Rating: T
Link to: Prologue - Chapter 1
Chapter Word Count: 3389
Chapter Summary: Decisions and news
Author’s Note: I’m the worst at summaries. Don’t even bother reading them. Just read the chapter lol Also, it was brought to my attention that there may have been confusion with the chapters for this fic. Just note that there is a prologue before chapter 1. So TECHNICALLY this is the third chapter but it’s chapter 2 because of the prologue. I’ll stop rambling. Thanks to my beta @darrenismydarcy and enjoy!

“Do we ever have to leave our honeymoon?” Blaine asks four days later as he kneels on the bed where Kurt has been lounging with a book for the past hour.
Kurt looks up from his book, lazily, and his breath catches at Blaine’s appearance. They haven’t really worn anything more than swim trunks and tank tops since they arrived in Fiji three days ago but right now Blaine is only in low hanging shorts and his golden skin and easy smile take Kurt’s breath away.
Blaine smirks at Kurt’s expression before moving forward on his knees toward his husband, “See something you like?” He asks.
Kurt swallows, “You are unfairly attractive right now.”
Blaine chuckles as he puts his hands on either side of Kurt’s shoulders and leans in to press a slow, warm kiss to his lips. He hums when he pulls back, “Just right now?”
Kurt chuckles as he rolls his eyes, “Stop fishing for compliments.”
Blaine smirks again and shrugs before sitting down on his hip and leaning on his hand that he rests on the other side of Kurt’s hips, “You didn’t answer my first question.”
Kurt closes his book and puts it on the nightstand before putting his hands behind his head and giving Blaine his full attention, “To answer your question, yes, we eventually have to leave our honeymoon.” Blaine pouts and Kurt laughs, “We have jobs to get back to, and a Bethany to think about for starters.” Kurt reminds.
Blaine waves a hand, “Bethany’s practically an adult.” He says.
Kurt laughs, “I know sixteen-year-olds THINK they’re adults but...she’s not done needing you by a long shot.”
“Needing us.” Blaine says and Kurt shrugs, conceding the point even though he knows he’ll never have what Blaine and Bethany have and that’s okay.
“What are you going to do with yourself when Annie’s off at college?” Kurt asks, curiously.
Blaine pouts his lips thoughtfully, “Probably cry for a while.” He says and it’s Kurt’s turn to pout, sadly, up at him before Blaine shrugs, “But then, I don’t know, I figured you and I would have a little one of our own?”
He asks the question almost hesitantly. They’ve talked about kids, and both want at least one together, but it’s always been hypothetical. Both of them had been content with raising Bethany.
“You wouldn’t...want a break for a while?” Kurt asks, running a hand up the arm Blaine is bracing himself on, “You’ve been raising another human since you were fifteen. I would have more kids with you tomorrow but is that what you want? Would you rather we wait and just be us for a while?”
Blaine sighs and shifts slightly. Kurt wonders if he’s made Blaine uncomfortable and hates that he’s ruined their relaxed Fiji honeymoon vibe.
Eventually, Blaine looks up at Kurt through his lashes, “I can’t think of anything better than raising a child with you.”
Kurt beams at him and leans up to press his lips to Blaine’s. Blaine joins the kiss easily and they lazily make out on the bed with the afternoon sun shining in through the floor to ceiling glass doors of their room. They’ve had more sex over the last three days then any other three day period in their entire relationship, but there is something cementing and gratifying about this moment in a none sexual way.
“We’ll have to talk to Bethany.” Kurt whispers when they finally pull apart.
“Not it.” Blaine whispers back before moving back to press his lips against Kurt’s. They’re both laughing this time, though, so it’s more a meeting of teeth than lips but neither care.
“Wanna go for a swim?” Kurt asks when they pull away for a second time.
Blaine hums, thoughtfully, “Only if you can keep your hands to yourself while we do it. We’re going to end up arrested one of these days.”
Kurt rolls his eyes without any heat, “Please. One, you’re just as handsy. Two, it’s a resort in Fiji - we won’t be the only handsy ones. And three, you are my husband, I can be as handsy as I damn well please.”
Blaine smirks, “Yes sir.”
Kurt quirks an eyebrow, “Ooooh I like the sound of that.”
Blaine throws his head back and laughs and Kurt smiles.
“Come on,” Blaine says when he’s calm, flicking his head toward the beach outside their room, “let’s go swimming. And if we get arrested, there will be punishment.”
It’s Kurt’s turn to smirk, “Yes sir.” He repeats.
-- -- --
It’s two weeks since their honeymoon and Blaine and Kurt still giggle every time they look at each other or catch sight of their rings. There is an overabundance of giggling in the house which usually causes Bethany to roll her eyes even as she smiles at the pair and their ridiculousness.
Tonight, Bethany is staying at a friend's house and Blaine sits, almost vibrating, on the couch as he tries to read a book and wait for Kurt to get home from the grocery store.
They’re going to have a date night.
A slightly silly concept considering they are married but, seeing as they live with a 16-year-old, nights by themselves are few and far between so they take advantage of them when they come along.  They’re going full out; dinner, candles, a movie, groping during said movie, and sex. Lots and lots of sex.
Kurt grunts his way through the front door and Blaine leaps up from the couch, tossing his unread book onto the cushions, “Here. Let me grab some of those.” He says, taking a few of the bags from Kurt’s hand, “Did you bring them all up on the first go?”
“Of course I did. Gives me a workout.” Kurt snarks.
Blaine laughs as they make their way into the kitchen, “Some might say going down and back up the stairs a second time is equally a workout.”
Kurt levels him with a look that would be bitchy if they weren’t so ridiculously in love that anger isn’t a thing they do nowadays (they’re both sure fighting will return...they’re just enjoying the lack thereof), “Yeah, well, considering what our night holds I don’t think I needed to workout at ALL before hand.”
Blaine smirks, “Touché.” He says as there is a knock at the door.
They both turn in its direction with identical curious expressions. They aren’t expecting anyone. That had kind of been the whole point of the evening.
“Maybe I dropped something and a neighbour is dropping it by?” Kurt wonders, almost to himself, as he riffles through the bags to check.
Blaine shrugs and figures there is only one way to find out. He walks over to the door, laughing when Kurt calls out ‘You better not offer sexual favours for the return of produce!’
He’s still laughing when he pulls the door open but his laugh is cut off abruptly when his eyes land on the figure on the other side. He and the person on the other side of the door stare at each other, neither speaking, for what feels like hours.
They are silent and starring long enough for Kurt to come out of the kitchen anyway, “What did I drop?” He asks but goes quiet when he comes to stand next to Blaine. Whether it’s the general vibe of the moment or the fact that the person on the other side of the door isn’t someone Kurt has ever seen before, Blaine’s not sure. But right now, Blaine isn’t sure of anything.
“Dad.” He chokes out and his throat feels raw and scratchy. The name coming out like sandpaper against his vocal chords. It’s not a word he’s used in many years, and a word he never thought he’d use again to the man in front of him.
Marcus Anderson shifts almost awkwardly. Everything about him in this moment seems awkward in Blaine’s opinion, and it’s so different to the mental memory Blaine has of his father. Marcus Anderson is a commanding presence, usually. He’s not an overly tall man (a little under 5’11”) but his general presence seems to make even taller men shrink in comparison.
Now, he stands in a three piece suit (which seems wholly out of place in the basic but neat hallway outside Kurt and Blaine’s apartment), shifting from one foot to the other and adjusting his lapel and cuffs almost reflexively. Blaine can’t help but remember his own actions on the day of his wedding and he swallows hard, trying to rid himself of the mental connection. He wants to be nothing like his father.
“Are you going to let me in?” Marcus asks finally and it’s then that Blaine realizes he and Kurt have just been staring.
Blaine turns to Kurt, whose face has morphed from the happy relaxed expression from the kitchen into a scowl with blazing eyes, and clears his throat, “Um, yeah, sure. Come in.” He says, backing up and opening the door further.
Marcus steps between the pair and clears his throat as he passes Kurt. Kurt tracks the older man as he makes his way into the living room and stands just in front of the coffee table.
“Did I catch you in the middle of something?” Marcus asks.
“What do you want, Dad?” Blaine asks instead of answering. He silently curses himself for not sounding stronger. He had wanted that to come out angrily but instead it comes out almost resigned.
Marcus clears his throat and nods down at the carpet, “Is your... sister here?”
“No.” Blaine answers, simply.
Marcus nods again, his eyes moving around the room without really landing on anything, “I have news. For her.”
Blaine’s eyes narrow. What could that possible mean? Neither Blaine or Bethany have had contact with their parents in seven years, what possible news could their father have for Bethany, and not him, that he felt he couldn’t impart over the phone or email or, Blaine figures, not at all.
“Evelyn is dead.” Marcus says simply, finally meeting Blaine’s eyes.
Blaine instantly feels like he’s been punched in the chest. He stares back at his dad but his eyes aren’t really seeing. He’s finding it hard to breathe and hard to swallow. Out of his peripheral vision, he becomes aware of Kurt looking back and forth between Blaine and his father.
“Who’s Evelyn?” Kurt asks, anger seemingly forgotten for the moment as curiosity takes its place.
Marcus breaks eye contact with Blaine only to sneer in Kurt’s direction and it’s that action that shakes Blaine awake, “Get out.” Blaine whispers over the lump in his throat.
Marcus’ eyes snap back to Blaine, widen, and then narrow, “That is a very rude way to treat a guest, Blaine. I thought I had taught you better.”
“You taught me nothing.” Blaine spits, “Now, get out.”
Marcus’ narrow eyes regard Blaine for a moment longer before clearing his throat once more, straightening his suit jacket once more and nodding, “Bethany is welcome at the funeral.” is the last thing he says before marching out of the apartment. Blaine doesn’t miss that he waited long enough to make it seem like it was HIS idea and not Blaine’s.
The door closes audibly behind his father and it’s the only indication Blaine gets that he actually leaves because he’s still staring at the spot where he was just standing. When he hears the click (his father is too prim and proper for something as ‘low class’ as a slam) he blinks for the first time in what feels like forever. Why can’t he remember the last time he blinked? Why are his eyes so dry?
He becomes aware of Kurt next to him when the other man clears his throat, “Ummm, what’s going on? Who is Evelyn? What the fuck just happened?”
Blaine runs a shaky hand down his face and pulls his bottom lip out slightly as he removes it, staring off into the middle distance, “Evelyn is our mother.”
-- -- --
Kurt’s not entirely sure how to act.
He’s been trying to take his cue from Blaine but trying to figure out what Blaine needs from him without outright asking (he’d tried and gotten a strange ‘What kind of question is that?’ non-answer in return).
Blaine seemed last night to want to forget his father had even visited. He had clapped his hands together after a moment of silence and declared that the groceries weren’t going to put themselves away. He’s been speaking mostly in cliches ever since.
They’d gone to bed right after dinner and while Kurt had understood the night they had planned wasn’t really an option anymore, he had mourned it a little. He’d mourned it a little more when he’d spooned up behind Blaine in bed and gotten a ‘I’ve got a headache’ cliche in return. He wasn’t sure if that just meant no sex (which isn’t what he had been aiming for anyway) or no cuddling but when Blaine had shrugged his shoulder slightly, Kurt had taken the hint and rolled away. He’d fell into a fitful sleep only after he knew Blaine had done the same a few hours later.
Now, the morning sun is shining through their small kitchen window and the pair is sitting at the kitchen table with mugs of coffee in front of them. They haven’t really spoken since waking up almost a half hour ago, but Bethany should be getting dropped back home any time now and Kurt’s still not sure how they are going to tell her.
He coughs and Blaine looks over at him with a curious expression, “Have you...thought about how you’re going to tell Bethany?”
Blaine pouts thoughtfully before shrugging, “Best just to rip the bandaid off, I guess.”
Kurt’s nerves bristle at the cliche. He wants to shake Blaine and ask him what the hell the cliches are for and why he’s acting so strange but he also doesn’t want to make Blaine mad at him - a fight isn’t what he wants or thinks Blaine needs right now.
He takes a deep breath and lets it out as Blaine continues to look at him curiously, passively. Kurt licks his lips and tries again, “Did you...want to tell her by yourself? I can...make myself scarce.” He gestures out of the kitchen as if his meaning isn’t clear.
Something flashes in Blaine’s eyes for the first time since his father’s visit the night before. He reaches across the table and grabs Kurt’s wrist, locking eyes with him and his eyes look pained, “Please stay.” He says.
Kurt nods repeatedly, “I will. I will.” He reassures.
Blaine mirrors his nods before pulling his hand back. He nods continuously, almost to himself, before his eyes settle back into the passive stare they held before.
The sound of a key in the front door grabs their attention and they both turn in its direction to hear the door open and Bethany enter, “Hey guys!” She calls with an obvious smile in her voice, “I don’t care how late you stayed up last night - I want waffles! Let’s go get breakfast!”
They don’t answer her, and a few seconds later she all but bounces into the kitchen and smiles wider when she sees them at the table. She’s wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt with her hair piled on top of her head in a messy bun. She’s slightly out of breath, almost like she ran up the stairs instead of taking the elevator, but her smile is so bright and her vibe is relaxed...until she catches the vibe of the kitchen.
She stops with a hand on the door jam and looks back and forth between Kurt and Blaine with a furrowed brow, “What’s going on?” She asks.
Kurt looks at Blaine, who is staring at his coffee. There is one thing Kurt knows for sure in this moment: no matter what he’d do to help Blaine, and Bethany, through this, telling Bethany himself is not something he’s going to do. This news shouldn’t come from him.
He coughs and it seems to shake Blaine out of his thoughts. The other man looks up and gives Bethany a pained smile that fools no one, “Have a seat, Annie.” He whispers.
Bethany follows the instruction cautiously, lowering herself into the seat she usually occupies at the table and continuing to look back and forth between them. She laughs awkwardly after another beat of silence, “What? Did someone die?” She asks.
Kurt can tell she means it as a joke but when he looks over at Blaine, who winces slightly, in the ensuing silence Bethany puts her hands flat on the table, “Burt?” She asks, her voice taking on a panicked note.
Kurt does feel like that’s a question for him to answer. He reaches across the table, quickly, and lays a hand on Bethany’s arm, “Burt is fine.” He says and for good measure he adds, “Carole and Finn are fine, too.” He sort of loves that his family is Blaine and Bethany’s family, too, and even though his heart is hurting and confused, it also swells at her concern.
She nods and looks back and forth between Kurt and her silent brother, “Then who? Or what? You haven’t said no one died. Did someone die?”
“Mom did.” Blaine whispers suddenly and the room goes silent again.
Kurt’s still got his hand on Bethany’s and he squeezes it slightly as he waits for her to react. She’s looking at Blaine with wide eyes. Kurt’s not sure how he thought she would react, hell he STILL isn’t sure how Blaine is reacting, but he knows he wants to be there to help with whatever it is.
Bethany blinks a few times, “How?” She finally stutters out.
Blaine adopts a thoughtful expression, “I...don’t actually know how she died.” He whispers.
Bethany shakes her head, “No.” She says, “I mean, how do you know?”
Blaine looks at Kurt, briefly, before turning back to Bethany. Kurt wonders in that moment if Blaine is going to lie about how he came to know this information, “Dad, uh, came here last night.”
Bethany swallows thickly and nods but doesn’t say anything. She turns her eyes to look at the table in front of her. They’re slightly wide but otherwise dry. Kurt’s not sure why he was expecting tears.
“Bethany?” Kurt says after another moment of silence. So much silence. She looks up at him with a surprised expression, like she forgot he was there, “Are you...okay? Do you...need anything?” He tries asking her what he asked Blaine the night before, hoping she’ll be more receptive.
She blinks and then coughs slightly before looking at Blaine, “Is there a funeral?”
“On Sunday morning.” Blaine reports, “Dad said you were welcome to go if you want.”
Bethany’s brows furrow, “If I…” She stops and shakes her head before starting again, “I think we should go.” She says with a decisive nod.
Kurt and Blaine turn to each other for a moment before turning back to Bethany, “Ummm, Bethany…” Kurt starts.
“Dad said YOU were invited. Not me.” Blaine clarifies.
Bethany’s brows furrow even further and she shakes her head, “That’s bullshit!” She explodes. Neither Kurt or Blaine reprimand her for her language, “Now I want all three of us to go even more.” She smirks, “It’ll be the perfect send off - piss her off one more time.”
Kurt’s eyes widen in surprise at her declaration before he turns to look at Blaine, gauging his reaction. To his surprise, Blaine actually laughs slightly, shaking his head and bringing a hand up to his mouth.
“I should have known that would be your reaction.” Blaine says, almost to himself.
Bethany amazes Kurt (and Blaine) on an almost daily basis, she truly is an amazing young woman, but her reaction brings Kurt back to that night seven years ago when he first learned about the night Blaine and Bethany’s parents abandoned their two children. Bethany, seven at the time, had stood up to their father on her big brother’s behalf, going so far as to punch their father in the stomach to keep him away from Blaine.
Bethany winks with a smile, “I’ve always got your back, big brother.”

Okay everyone needs to get some things straight. If you feel triggered by Halloween or certain things regarding dark topics you can block words, phrases and tags. You are intentionally harming yourself and asking the network admins and writers participating to censor themselves for your benefit to cater to your specific trauma.
Sorry to say; that is not going to happen. All writers are required to put all trigger warnings on a fic, in tags or at the start of the fic and I do so with every fic of mine and also give a rating and put it under a read more. And I will do the same for my Mobster Smash fic.
I find it hysterical that you people are sending death threats and potentially triggering others just because you feel like you're entitled to have an event not be held to cater to you.  Don't want to read, write or otherwise participate? Wonderful. Leave. The. Network. Unfollow. It's a very simple concept.
Another thing! There are rules on @ksmutclub for a reason. First off; prompts are optional and can be used to a writer's advantage and twisted in whatever way they like to fit a narrative. They spark creativity, hence why they're prompts. Just because you instantly see disgusting things like incest or pedophilia doesn't mean others do. Anyone who posts for the project which has triggers that don't adhere to the rules will not be reblogged or included by the network. This includes if they don't properly set warnings I'm sure.
How dare you attack people under the guise of being triggered while consciously triggering others and sending death threats. Leave. We don't want y'all here and you are doing nothing but triggering others and spewing hate. You people are the real monsters and the project hasn't even started yet.
As for minors; again there is a reason I provide ratings and trigger warnings. It's not there for show. I can't physically stop someone from reading my work obviously but I do what I can, and so does the network. If you have proof of such claims I urge you to bring it to the admins so they can act.
Those that are sending death threats and similar hate; I hope you're proud of yourselves.
You bullied the admins into stopping the project at first. But the fellow creators in the network and readers alike all agreed to go ahead with it because we know how to put warnings on our fics.
Newsflash people; fanfiction is called fiction for a reason. People would say I'm generally a very kind, innocent person but I write explicit smut and I also like to write and read darker content. That doesn't make me a vile person and it's not up to you to dictate what I write or what kind of person I am.
If the content makes you uncomfortable; Don't. Read.
It's very simple.
Prompts were also under a cut. Which means every single one of you saw the event was not only Halloween based but horror themed and clicked 'Read More' and also continued reading once you saw the horrific nature of the prompts.
Horror!!
You know; something that deals with dark concepts and is meant to scare people. These topics will be treated with respect, obviously or they aren't going to be condoned by @ksmutclub.  It's meant to be scary why do you people keep jumping to conclusions based on prompts and writings you haven't seen yet?
Everything you've said has been hypothetical! If all you want is to read fluff fics with 0 conflict then go ahead! No-one is stopping you from searching for said fics or even writing your own!
As someone who has written a story with incubi(sex demons) and yet I still manage to emphasize consent at every turn; you can easily twist prompts or ideas into whatever you wish. Not everything is as it seems at first glance. And it's possible to write dark topics respectfully too!
Basically; sit down, shut up and maybe have faith in the blog you chose to follow. If someone decided to write the things you're suggesting they'd never be accepted. And the fact that you can't handle or don't want to read horror isn't my or other members of the network's problem. Don't read it if you don't like horror or can't because of the triggers stated in the warnings. It's all very simple.
Tldr; Stop abusing my friends and the admins of the network and being hypocrites to the max about things that haven't even happened and you have no idea if it even will, in which case it would be rejected harshly anyway. Just a thought.
Have a great day anyway and I hope @triheartedhero and @ksmutclub know that I support them and am here if they need to talk!

Embarrassing Phases: End Card Analysis, The Dark Sides, And What The Future Holds.
So, let’s get straight (or not straight, as it were) to the part of the video that justifiably made everybody lose their minds. This is another long one folks, so settle in with a nice beverage.
What can we glean from that End Card?
For one, what was only hinted at in CLBG is more or less confirmed: that Virgil and Deceit know each other, and well. Virgil is displeased but in no way surprised to see Deceit in his room, in contrast to how he reacted to the other Sides popping in during the End Card of AA pt. 2. This, along with Virgil’s body language, gestures, general attitude and the fact that he is easily able to navigate a conversation with his uninvited guest despite said guest’s oblique and circuitous way of speaking, suggests that this is, or at one point was, a common occurrence.
(And I need to take a moment to commend Thomas’ acting here because with very little time and very few lines he gets across just how done Virgil is with our resident snek, as if he’s heard this spiel a million times before and it’s long since gotten past the point of boring. I love it so much.)
This is all compounded by what Deceit has to say. He indirectly implies that Virgil is pretending to be someone that he isn't, that the outfit he generally wears is a costume, and tells him to keep up with his personal growth, as if that’s something he’s been keeping tabs on. All this suggests a familiarity; that Deceit knows who the real Virgil is, and it’s not who he’s pretending to be now. Virgil disagrees, (as do I) but he doesn't argue this on the basis that Deceit doesn't know him well enough to make that call. The idea Deceit intimates, that he and Virgil have an extended history for him to draw his conclusion from, goes unchallenged.
So what does that mean? It suggests, even if it doesn't explicitly confirm, that a theory a lot of us have had for a while now is in fact true. That Virgil used to work with the Dark Sides.
Now, if this theory is true, it begs the question: why aren't they working together anymore? What happened? What was the catalyst for the split? And....
 When did it happen?
I think it’s safe to say that if this hypothetical split took place, it predated the start of the series. Perhaps even by years. Why do I think so? Virgil’s views on lying. If you go back and rewatch the series after CLBG, your ears will perk up every time the subject of deception is broached. And Virgil, in particular, brings it up often. Surprisingly often. For example:
A New Year of Lying to Myself - This one is the most obvious. Virgil tries to dissuade Thomas and the others from making New Year’s Resolutions, as he insists they’ll just end up abandoned. He describes them, repeatedly through song, as lies.
The Dark Side of Disney - Here Roman and Virgil get into a debate about the various bits of fridge horror lurking throughout the animated Disney canon. The dark side of Aladdin? The fact that the protagonist achieves his goals through ‘lying and deceiving’. (Also, just the title of this episode is actually kind of hilarious in hindsight.)
Alone on Valentines Day - After Patton says that it’s still possible for Thomas to get a date for the holiday, Virgil chides him with: “Morality, don’t lie to him.” (As a bonus, there’s all the Sides’ reactions to the context Logan provides for Roman’s Shakespeare quote.)
Making Some Changes - Virgil Not Being Cool with everyone shape shifting into Thomas’ friends.
Can Lying Be Good? - Virgil is against lying from the start, very obviously picks up on Patton’s acting out of character early on in the video and keeps a suspicious eye on his fellow Side throughout.
Now, if Virgil was still partnered with the Dark Sides at the start of the series, it would make more sense for him to encourage dishonesty, or at the very least sit back and let it happen. Instead he actively tries to dissuade the Main Sides from lying. But why push them to be truthful? Why bother with that if he hadn't already split off from the Dark Sides and was looking for ways to thwart their efforts? Based on Virgil’s behavior, if a schism happened, it makes the most sense that it happened before the start of the series.
Leading off from that conclusion, let’s double back to one of our original questions: what could've caused said schism? If Virgil and the Dark Sides used to work together, why aren't they now?
Well….there is a theory.
 The theory in question.
I've seen it in theory posts and fics before now, but until the last video dropped I wasn't sure the Sanders Sides crew was willing to Go There. But it looks like they just might be planning to. So let’s explore that possibility.
This latest entry in the Sanders Sides canon was about past shameful phases. That’s the theme of the video where we get Deceit and Virgil arguing over whether the latter has escaped a shameful phase or is in one now. It’s also the same video where we get our first mention of a specific phase of Thomas’ life. Namely, the Girl Phase. This phase is not elaborated on, but it’s pretty easy to figure out. Roman even describes Thomas as being “so repressed”.
But here’s the thing. Repression is being in denial. About who you are, what you feel, and what you want. To be in denial is to deceive yourself. Deception, particularly self-deception….
…now, just whose job would that be..?
Because there’s something startling that I realized while turning this idea over in my head like an unidentified jewel. Repressing as big a part of yourself as your sexual orientation doesn't mean just telling one lie. It’s having to tell multiple lies. Repeatedly. Every day of your life.
It’s spending the majority of your time lying to yourself, lying to loved ones, lying to strangers….Not just through word, but through deed and presentation. (The way you talk, act, dress, etc.) It’s lying to yourself every time you feel something for someone you think you’re not supposed to. It’s lying to anyone you try to date to convince both them and yourself that you’re totally straight. It’s a never ending crusade against the tide inside your own head. It never stops. And having to lie so much, all the time….that isn't a partnership you’re in with the deceitful side of yourself; it’s ownership.
But it’s not just the snek. There’s a lot of anxiety to be had in denying who you really are. Dreading what someone will accuse you of being if you slip up for even a second. Worrying if doing one thing or another is the right (straight) thing to do, or the right (straight) way to do it. Always, always being on guard, no matter what’s going on or what you’re doing. It’s one of the things that not only gets you in the closet but locks the door behind you. Your life becomes a veritable parade of second guessing, insecurity and paranoia.
And if the other Dark Sides embody emotions or concepts that contribute to or flourish under repression….well….
We don’t know exactly what things were like between the Sides before the start of the series, but I think I can make a guess as to what they were like during Thomas’ Girl Phase. I think that back then, the Dark Sides would've actually been the ones who were, albeit covertly, running the show. So in present day, they wouldn't be trying to gain influence and power they've never had. What they would be trying to do is regain the power they've lost. Because of a traitor.
That’s what I think the break would've been about. I think Virgil would've been the first of the Dark Sides to realize that lying to himself wasn't helping Thomas. Virgil even specifically says in Growing Up that Thomas living a life he isn't happy with “[Would] give me more work to do. And I do not like to work hard." I can’t say for sure which Side it would've been that started the ball rolling on Thomas’ realization, but I would be willing to bet Virgil would've been something like the tie-breaking vote on the issue. This then would've led to him abandoning the Dark Sides and…well, largely operating alone until AA pt2.
And in operating alone, either because the Dark Sides would've gotten it so wrong about what Thomas needed or because they wouldn't have cared about what he needed as long as they had as much influence over him as possible, Virgil would've been trying to protect Thomas and the others from them. Hence his contention with Thomas and the other Sides about lying, to themselves or to others.
How it relates to the video.
I can’t help but wonder. This episode and the last has Virgil trying to re-establish himself as…well, the dude who freaks everybody out. Or at least the dude who can.
Is it possible the reasons he gave for that are not the only reasons? If Virgil used to hang with the Dark Sides, he’d know a lot about them, or at least more than Thomas and the others probably know at this point. Which means he could tell the others about them: what they are, their purposes, what kinds of trouble they like to get up to, what to look out for to spot their influence….Virgil could theoretically tell the others and Thomas everything they’d need to know to catch the Dark Sides in the act of getting up to mischief.
That is, if Deceit would let him. And Deceit’s not going to let him.
So would Virgil think, since he can’t just tell them what to expect, that his only recourse is to scare and intimidate them away from things that he thinks will hurt them? And he can’t employ that strategy if no one is afraid of him or takes him seriously anymore? Was that why he acted that way in the first place? Since he couldn't say anything, did he figure he’d just frighten them away from falling under the sway of the Dark Sides? And is there an element of guilt there too? Because he used to be a part of a group he now sees as not being a healthy influence on Thomas’ life?
The Dark Sides.
As for the Dark Sides…what is their deal, anyway? What can we ascertain about the individual Dark Sides we’ve yet to meet and what the three of them might be like as a group from what we've seen so far? Well, in the event the Dark Sides were the orchestrators and/or benefactors of Thomas’ repression, it’s clear why they’re the antagonists of this story. However, I think there’s more to it than that. @ironwoman359, in her analysis of the end card, pointed out that the difference between Deceit and our protagonists is that he is “utterly unwilling to compromise on his desires and his methods” in procuring Thomas’ self-preservation.
I think this hits the nail on the head, but I want to take it a step farther.
The series operates on two levels, as I said before: the character and symbolic. On each level, the series has a general moral or mission statement. On the character level, it’s about open communication, debate, and sharing ideas with others. Basically, hearing people out and sharing your concerns with them, as opposed to assuming you know how they feel and/or stewing in your own insecurities and resentments that may or may not be misplaced. On the symbolic level, it’s about listening to yourself. Taking honest stock of what you feel and why you feel it. Being open to learning new things about yourself and reaching a better understanding of your inner world to promote your own well being. The Dark Sides, from what we’ve seen, run counter to the message of this series on both levels.
Taking a look at things from the character level, Deceit is not interested in debate. At all. It’s not just that he wants to steer the other Sides towards deception, it’s that he does everything he can to get them to do what he wants without them realizing he’s doing so. He insures there can’t be a debate by not allowing anyone else to figure out there’s one to be had in the first place. This, of course, fits the concept of deception like a glove. You can’t be deceptive and have an honest discussion at the same time.
And….when we first meet him, Virgil wasn't much different. He was similarly disinterested in hearing the others out. This changes over time, of course, but in his earlier videos he’s all about intimidation. Using the fear of all the bad things that could happen to try to scare Thomas into, usually, not doing something. Alternatively, he would try to railroad over the other Sides suggestions by portraying them as foolish and/or too idealistic to work.
Based on these two, I’m gonna guess the other Dark Sides are equally disinterested in debate, and have their own strategies for peddling their advice and influence that is similarly aggressive or manipulative or just generally indirect and tricky to pin down. They won’t be receptive to what the other Sides have to say and they won’t bother to consider what things might look like from the other Sides’ points of view (though one or both of them may pretend that they do as part of their strategy). Our last two dark boys are only going to want their views heard and their plans carried out. And they’re going to be willing to do whatever they need to in order to accomplish that. They will not be above emotional manipulation, intimidation and other under handed tactics to get what they want, and they won’t question themselves or whatever mission they’re on at any given time. As far as they’ll be concerned, they’re right, and the goal will be just to get everyone to submit to their rightness by any means necessary, their targets’ desires be damned.
Assuming that all of this is correct, what does this mean for the future?
Basically, the Dark Sides are the boss fights to the regular episodes’ grinding. Imagine, if you will, CLBG but without the soul searching that Patton and Roman did in MO. Without Virgil having become an ally since AA. It’s…uh, not pleasant to think about. We’re due to meet another Dark Side soon (in fact I think Deceit’s “soon you’ll be rid of us all” bit was specifically meant to be in and out of universe mirrored foreshadowing) and what the boys have been up to lately has the potential to help with that.
It goes back to what I touched on in the LNTAO analysis. The subject of belittlement. Being made to feel small or as if something is wrong with you can go hand-in-hand with repression. If you find a part of yourself shameful, you might want to hide it away even from yourself. This is how a lot of people get trapped in emotional and other types of abusive relationships; the abusive partner convinces their victim that their justifiable anger or outrage is them being childish or unreasonable. The victim doesn't want to be childish or unreasonable, so they repress that anger and eventually no longer understand what they’re feeling and why they feel awful all the time.
If all the Dark Sides operate similarly, then Thomas’ and the other Sides’ challenge will be to learn to recognize their tactics and not fall victim to them. To not buy into the supposition that there are things about them that are shameful and should be repressed.
Taking it all the way back to the top, look at how Deceit frames Virgil’s development. He downplays the progress our boy has made by suggesting it’s all just Virgil playing pretend. He’s not only telling Virgil he hasn't changed, he’s implying that Virgil is unqualified to judge. Boy couldn't be more patronizing if he tried. Or....well, he couldn't be more belittling if he tried.
And on top of that, he says that said playing pretend won’t stop the other Dark Sides from messing around with the others and Thomas in the future. And, in fact, it just might hasten their aggressions. Deceit not only belittles Virgil’s growth in order to get him to see it as pointless to keep trying, but gives a subtle threat: that if Virgil keeps going the way he is it won’t just be Deceit he and the others might have to deal with.
This is what our boys are going to need to learn to navigate. On a character level, the Sides are going to need to learn just how it is that each Dark Side operates and how not to let them exploit their individual insecurities and ensnare them in their mind games. On a symbolic level, Thomas has to learn to see through the unhealthy attitudes he’s picked up from our crappy society and understand that the belittling attitudes he holds towards himself (attitudes that suggest there are generally unpleasant truths or things that are just inherently wrong with him that need to be repressed) are unhealthy and shouldn’t be heeded. Thomas doesn’t need the urge to hide who he is serving as the guiding light for his thoughts, feelings and behavior. He can just….decide for himself what he wants to do and the direction he wants his life to take.

Oh man, I'm just imagining that there's so many close brushes with kiribaku almost realizing or almost being in positions to find out that the other is a vigilante-- an injury and no way to get into contact with Jack or Mina-- a rainstorm washing Kiri's dye away on the job. I think it'd be especially funny if he thought for a minute that Kiri was bleeding but then Kiri is like "UH GOTTA GO ITS NOT BLOOD" and he realizes it's red hair dye
Oh Kirishima sort of already suspects it’s Bakugou - more or less? He’s in the process of starting to suspect it, at least lol for being someone who really doesn’t want to be found out Bakugou’s more carefree in his disguise than Kirishima is (his hair is a pretty obvious giveaway, for example, thought Bakugou relies a lot on the ‘attacking and running’ strategy, so in his mind all he gotta do is just not be seen by anyone at all lol) compared to Kiri he gets bruised and beaten up way more too (Kiri’s hardening makes it easy for him to avoid that in general) - Kiri’s noticing Bakugou’s bruises and his vigilante friend’s bruises match up a whole damn lot, so he’s starting to figure that one out
Bakugou’s a dumbass tho (read: he doesn’t really look at people he isn’t particularly interested in) so for him it’s gonna take a while haha
Anon said: If in vigilantes au Bakugou and jirou are just friends why do they live together and hug like a couple?
They’re best friends, and sometimes when your best friend is going through a real rough heartbreak and he’s in literal tears over it, you might be nice enough to offer your back for him to hide his face in and let him pretend he isn’t currently breaking down on you. Sometimes, you like a person in a platonic way enough to emotionally support them as best as you can when they’re at their lowest. It. Sort of happens between best friends, now and again. You don’t really need to want in someone’s pants to care about them.
They live together cause they started working together as vigilantes when they were in high school, and once they moved up to college they found it a good idea to have someone back home who knew about what they were doing to treat eventual wounds, since they can’t go to the hospital! Also the rent is cheaper this way
Anon said:Can you draw more comics of childhood kiribaku? You’re art is sooo cute 💓
It’s something I’ve regularly kept on going back on for years by now, so sure, it’ll probably happen! And thank you!
Anon said:OH MY GOD. Please tell me you will make an official webcomic of your Vigilante AU. It’s so beautiful, cute and I definitely need more of this. It’s like a drug that I did not know I needed until I read your concept(????). BTW, your art is soooo pretty. Thank you so much for drawing KiriBaku ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Ahhh I’m really happy to hear you like it! For personal reasons I’ve decided that making a cohesive, coherent succession of comics isn’t something I want to do, but I think I’ll draw more of that AU soon enough, snapshots and things like that! I hope that’s good enogh for you~
Anon said:May I request a pissed kiri??
Didn’t I draw that less than 10 posts ago
Anon said:Hey, I rlly admire you! I wish we were friends, you seem rlly nice!!
Thank you!!! The few close friends I have might tell you I’m actually not that great at the whole friends thing, but I appreciate the feeling a lot! :D
Anon said:Were Kirishima’s eyes red in the last panel of the last comic??
Yep :( he really does like Bakugou, after all
Anon said:I saw you answering the other anon and if I may ask, why posting the gem au was a big mistake? Were pol rude with you? If it’s so, I’m sorry abt it
Anon said:You said that posting your SU AU stuff was the biggest mistake you ever made… is it because of something that we, as viewers and worshippers of your KiriBaku (damn, I’ll never stop telling you it’s cute and adorable and it hurts but it’s also sweet), can help NOT doing? Or is there anything we can do?
It’s okay, it just got in the hands of people who don’t particularly like Bakugou, and these people started talking about the AU in less than nice terms, which was honestly pretty ridiculous and made me wonder how people can survive being alive on this earth when they consider Steven Universe sensitive material but either way it brought around in my activities a bunch of people I would have preferred not to interact with ever, and that sort of took the fun out of the AU? Now every time I think about drawing for it those people come back up in my head and I get annoyed all over again, it’s no fun
Anon said:are you still doing the fusion au? id love to see kaminari and shinsou
I’m not, sorry! Though someone did ask about baku and mineta and I’ve been thinking about drawing that horrible monster since then, and I’ve also been wanting to redesign the krbk fusion, so maybe I might get back to it ??? I’ll add shin*kami to the list haha
Anon said:I really like the relationship Jack and Bakugou have, and the angst is nice too! I really like the vigilatne AU! I hope we can see more of it, only if you feel like it of course!
Thank you so much ;;;
Anon said:Silly question. If Kirishima activated his quirk being in water. Would he float like wood, or he’d drown like a rock? >//w//
Oh, I’m pretty sure he’d go down since his quirk makes him into a rock haha
Anon said:I think this is around the eighth anonymous ask I send you, but being a porn-making Tumblr user, it’s better if I don’t go public. I just wanted to say, once again, that I love your KiriBaku, it makes me both ache and feel so warm and fuzzy inside; but right now, the focus is that Bakugou’s crying face against Jack’s back is just so good, expressive and painful. I often hate his guts, but yours I can never hate. And the sheer intensity of that expression, and the environment too… so many feels
Aw, thank you!!! I’m glad I can make you enjoy my fav character, anon :D !!
Anon said:I have a question about the vigilante AU. What’s the relationship between jirou and bakugou? Because they don’t look like just friends
Why don’t they look like just friends tho
Anon said:Hypothetically. How would Bakugou react (or what would he do) if Kirishima stopped showing interest in him?
Are we talking about a specific AU or is this meant for the canon universe? Well, either way I’d say he’d be pretty hurt, but it’s not like he can force Kirishima to like him can he. Ah, in the vigilantes AU he’d probably think it’s for the best even if he’d hurt a lot over it, but in canon and most other AUs I like to think he’d try to fix it somehow? Unless he has other reasons to not act on his feelings for Kirishima… gosh this is a vague question, there are so many possibilities really!
Anon said:🧡Hi Fran! I’m pretty sure you’re the one who introduced this concept to me so I wanted to say thanks! Touch starved Bakugou and super cuddly Bakugou are totally my fave, especially when you have him all curled up with Jirou! Having them be Mina and Kiri level besties makes so much sense and I love you for introducing that thought to me!!!🧡
I’m!!!!!!!!!!! so happy to hear that!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;O;
Anon said:in your vigilante au, Kiri has a scar, does Bakugo ever notice the scar?(curious if it reminds him of Red or nah, love yur art btw~~
When he’s not doing vigilantes work it’s actually hidden by the hair, so Bakugou never noticed! But if he were to notice he’d probably mark it down as a Kiri thing and leave it at that, as I said he’s not the most observant when he’s not particularly interested in someone so he hasn’t really registered it on Red’s face anyway haha
Anon said:I RLLY LOVE YOUR AU!! I haven’t found an AU in this fandom I’m rlly into but THIS IS SOCUTE??? will there be more?
Heck I sure hope so!! Thank you for liking it!!!
Anon said:hey for the anon you were looking for an outrageous ship to draw to test out their theory, try Tokoyami and Link (legend of Zelda link) cuz I just saw cosplayers of them hardcore dancing at dragoncon and I die every time I think about it. You can find a video of it on quirk-registration-office
…………………..I’m probably never gonna draw that ngl LMAO BUT this ask made me wanna draw Tokoyami as a Rito so I guess that’s ???? something that might happen instead heck that’s a good concept I should have thought about earlier
Anon said:I absolutely love your art its soon amazing and I really like the vigilantly au but take care of yourself okay
I dunno what I did to make you worry about me but thank you so much for it? I’ll try my best !!!! And thank you for liking my doodles too!!! ;^;
Anon said:Do you know about any fanfics based in your art?? (Idk if that’s grammatically correct sorry 😅)
Hmmmmmmmmmm there are a few but the only one that comes to mind right now is such a funny pair !!! boy ellen’s fics are always so damn amazing, I still can’t believe she wrote for me ;^;

Could we get some headcanons/more background on Abbey and Doyle’s kids? 🥺👉👈 I love the premise of this AU
Tumblr media
YEEEEE (im just gonna ramble a bunch about the backstory i have so far but ill put it in bullets so its easier to follow lol i apologize for it being long as fuck-)
OKAY SO,,, first of all,,, doyle and abbey timeline,,,, [i am looking respectfully]
in this au, they get back together and have a sort of ‘lovers pretending to be enemies’ chaotic on again/off again hookup thing off to the side just between the two of them thru like Most of the final season, they try to keep it a secret (especially doyle who doubts the saturdays would be hAPPY if he was seeing her again) but in the end, saturdays ofc find out, probably are unsure about it at first, but she gains enough of their trust to be there for the big finale battle in the weird world mansion.
when shit goes down and argost becomes the vessel for the two opposing kurs (regular kur, and the anti kur from zak monday) and they like. explode his matter or w/e, i imagine instead of kur just completely disappearing, the ‘anti kur’ gets shot back to its universe, while original kur gets forced into a new vessel in this universe... the closest of which happens to be the unborn child abbeys unknowingly carrying. basically, what if the two kurs just LOOKED like they evaporated but actually did what happens when you try to like tape two same sides of a magnets together and they YEETED-
So thats how we have Parker, their firstborn daughter! and this... also implies ‘Parker Monday’ exists which. 8^) i havent thought about yet so forgive me on that but hoo,
they dont know parker is kur, they got no idea and rly just assume kur is gone for good. but after they find out abbeys pregnant (which is a huge emotional trip for both of them in its own right) they do eventually sort of agree they dont want their kid exposed to that whole world of mystery. like, ik its a vital thing to the whole family, and ik these two people were probably voted least likely to ‘settle down’ in high school, but i cant imagine they didnt escape the kur/zak situation without a LOT of trauma, so while the saturdays stay in the cryptozoology field, doyle and abbey slowly pull away from the mystery and mercenary stuff, and also instead of going for big dollar lifestyle settle with ‘independently wealthy’ parenting.
also, neither of them really . grasp the concept that theyve even started a family, and are ‘together’, and that this is REAL, until around when she gets pregnant with their second daughter, Kendall. and then theyre like. oh nooo wait are we actually like boyfriend and girlfriend EWW-
when kendall is born parker is 3, and the next like 10+ years are pretty smooth sailing. as far as what the kids know/see, they probably know the cryptids when theyre little but. (tw animal death sORRY TO BE DARK I JUST??????) idk,, how long komodo dragons live/how old komodo already is and i definitely dont know Anything about giant prehistoric birds and am not even sure if science knows that lifespan, so. im not sure how long they could really be in each others lives??? i almost imagine parker would have memories of them that she assumes she remembers wrong, like “oh yeah they used to have a lizard and a bird... my imaginative little kid brain thought they were a komodo dragon and a dinosaur”, and as for fisk im still working on it but i . actually kind of imagine he might have a much longer lifespan (since lemurians are like ancient or w/e? and also if hes by dna like a gorilla cat or w/e gorillas at least live long af) and also feel like once he got older and settled down a bit he might live somewhere in the woods, maybe even his old tree? and the saturdays see him ALL the time obviously, but hey zaks gotta go to college eventually, a gorilla cats gotta eat bugs in forest, we all have to grow up and leave the nest sometime,
so idk the last time parker has actually seen fisk and she might assume he was an imaginary friend or smth but, 1. if i do write a fic they absolutely have to meet again, 2. overall the vibe is they know the saturdays are cryptozoologists, like, the same way josh gates does destination truth, seeking answers and studying, they dont really. know that theyre REAL. to them its like, a hypothetical science. (this is also part of why they dont realize parker is kur, she isnt around cryptids and therefore whenever her powers would actually show up they wouldnt be recognized) anyways parker isnt embarrassed or put off by it but just thinks its a little wacky, meanwhile kendall is obsessed with the world of mystery/paranormal/cryptic lol
speaking of the girls personalities;;;
parker is like. not really normie/preppy, even if she seems it at first glance, shes nice and has a good head on her shoulders but also is a teenage girl (inherently unhinged) and shes THEIR teenage girl (+5 feral) so despite her success and charm shes also very witty/crass when she wants to be, and deep down shes closer to the kind of person that would on pure inexplicable instinct put something random in your mouth when you’re yawning so you bite down on it afterwards. or like. that video of the girl singing in the bathroom while her friends curl their hair and she grabs the curler to use as a microphone before realizing its burning hot??? shes. the voice of reason, but the voice is usually shrieking in fear, making a cursed joke, or half the time whatever shes saying is actually smart. she kinda wants to go to college and travel, but struggles with indecisiveness and anxiety, so she has no idea where to go, what to major in, etc. and is again kinda just livin thru the typical teen life in that regard
kendall on the other hand is like. weird kid culture, the kind of kid that believes they are secretly a new supernatural creature each year (mermaid phase, werewolf phase, alien phase, etc), probably completely accidentally starts cults or witch covens at school (didnt realize teaching peers how to become ‘blood brothers’ and ‘make potions’ from puddles and stolen school supplies would be taken so seriously by parents) , very into emo/scene/punk/alt culture but not rly in an overtly dark/edgy way, more of a having fun and expressing self way. she wants answers for everything, really loves mysteries and being open minded, and definitely a rebel/adventurer at heart, even if she gets naive or in over her head sometimes.
the girls get along well! parker is not dismissive of kendall she just. isnt really into the same stuff/is more freaked out by it most of the time, but she would tag along on certain adventures, especially if it was to keep her safe. and kendall definitely directs gentle mockery towards parker a lot but does see her as a good role model and guiding figure, their bond is really strong!
other details !
doyle and abbey prob decide to say fuck it and get married after kendall is born, they probably have a few rough patches but nothing is more important to them than the kids now and in the end they understand each other better than anyone else so . canon tension idk her! family ftw! power couple! they intimidate the teacher during parent teacher conferences together hand in shady little hand !
their parenting style is exactly what one would imagine, 70% fun and sass and controlled chaos where theyre the bigger children than their children, 15% ‘this is how you hack the government and dual wield swords-- i was not supposed to teach you that im sorry’, and 15% actual guidance / emotional depth / etc. flaws might be overcoming their own immaturity for the first few years, and then being lowkey overly protective (while claiming they arent, but just bc you semi jokingly tell parker she should join the football team doesnt mean you dont actually hide 60% of ur life from her and check that her bedroom windows are locked every night and have 24 people listed in her school emergency contacts and used to cut up her food till she was 7 and-)
so abouT THE BABY BOY (Phoenix), 1. his middle name is leonidas bc im gay and i love emotional turmoil babes , 2. fully unironically the idea behind such a late pregnancy is abbey would be mid fourties when hes born right. so like. [has two kids] ‘ok birth control time’ [when theyre teens many years later] ‘ok im old enough to stop taking this’ [the hyperfertility curse that plagues many women rears its ugly head with one last hoo-rah]
and finALLY a very quick elevator pitch of what id write an actual fic to focus on;;; kendall sneaks into the attic to look for old shit bc they BOTH know their parents have been hiding stuff over the years, she finds things like a cryptopedia (now offline), the claw, maybe even a piece of the kur stone, and ropes parker into the long haul of figuring out what all this stuff is. and ofc the second they ever find the naga relic and parker comes face to face with it, [rest in rip] time for mom and dad to find out and all this kur shit to start ALL over again-

a happy medium - wonhui
wen junhui is just your average 20-year-old university student. he pulls all-nighters, goofs off with his friends, and parties a bit more than he should. oh, and he talks to dead people. somehow, he manages to balance being a student and a medium without much difficulty, but lately he’s been getting a little too distracted by spirit. more specifically, by a grandmother spirit belonging to the hottest guy in his lecture… and she’s desperate to try and set the two of them up. he really doesn’t want to give the stranger a reading, afraid she might make him say something embarrassing, but at this point, he’s going to fail the class if she doesn’t shut up.
a long time coming - wonhoon
Wonwoo knew the back of Jihoon’s head better than anyone.
a mother’s favor - meanie
Visiting the Underworld has never been on the list of Wonwoo’s favorite things to do but he guesses it can always get worse.
a wave breaking on the shore - soonwoo
When the sun stops shining so brightly, make a stop by the beach to check up on it. Soonyoung and Wonwoo are figuring things out.
and the stars forever dwell - meanie
“I’m Wonwoo. My dad is the caretaker here, but you already knew that.”
Wonwoo is right, and Mingyu is a liar.
Sir Jeon is the resident caretaker of these dragons—the best in the capital—and his son, Wonwoo?
Well, Mingyu wouldn’t call him a stranger.
art isn’t meant to be hung up, anyways - soonwoo
“I’m taking you on the first date,” Wonwoo says, surely, though Soonyoung catches the slight tremble of his fingers, the catch in his throat, the way his eyes dart back and forth between Soonyoung and Seokmin, as if daring to contradict him.
“I would like to take you on a date,” Soonyoung decides to say instead, putting the flowers into a vase. “It’s nicer if you ask this way. I’d also be more inclined to say yes, you know.”
“Yes,” Wonwoo tilts his head. “What you said.”
or, the one where Wonwoo decides it’d be a good idea to take Soonyoung on dates because he really, really wants something Soonyoung has.
as the carnations bloom - wonhui
Junhui presses his lips onto Wonwoo’s, slipping the red carnation into Wonwoo’s hair, and Wonwoo knew exactly what it meant; deep love and affection.

“Exactly.” It takes a lot of self-control not to toss his phone to the far end of the table the way one might a hissing snake; as vehement a statement as it might make (and Wonwoo’s feelings are most definitely vehement and then some), it is an expensive phone.
He settles on setting it down as decisively as possible, pointedly turning off the screen. “Ok, I’ve signed up for OkCupid, gotten the welcome email, filled in the necessary details, yadda, yadda, yadda. Can we get to revising now please?”
