Addiction in helluva boss is always displayed as a positive conjuction for the characters and never called into questioning unless it's a female presenting character. The men constantly get away and passively if not aggressively enforce positive stereotyping about alcoholism over how it can make one powerful and dominant despite the overtones knowing they're abusers. Whereas female characters are berated over drinking or simply made fun of to be presenting as an instigator of the 'conflict' because that's all the plot can bother to use women for to make the men characters look like they have 'development'....

I actively hate the fact that drinking and downright addiction with drugs and outright drug abuse or addicts in recovery are actively laughed at if not mocked within both series.

The fact that stolas has not been called into questioning either for being a drug addict abusing his prescription anti-depressants with alcohol and its passively played off as laughs until... it's actually called out by ovtavia and spoilers it's not a pretty argument...

Please stop supporting helluva boss it blatantly teaches to excuse abusers and brush off the fact that they are using these methods to cope so passively just because for the simplistic nature of 'angsty college humor' 🙄

Loona drinks. Blitz drinks. Stolas drinks. Moxxie has drunk against his will and it was played off for laughter. Addiction is actively laughed at and treated like a joke when in the grandscheme of the narrative why are we even rooting for these characters and their problems if they aren't willing to have the acceptance of change and oh yeah that lost plot that viv promised called REDEMPTION.

At what point do the fans have to admit that there is no good writing or anything of substance about the themes helluva boss presents since it falls flat face first every single time it presents a new bad thing to gawk at for the entire episode :/ what is it trying to say? Nothing. It says nothing about abusers and addicts, if anything it encourages to endorse the toxic behaviors the characters indulge in without the consequences, I can't anymore.

Brandon Rogers slutshaming a fictional minor (Octavia) for "cockblocking" a MLM ship is so disgusting. I've always known that Vivziepop (and maybe Brandon, too) was a Fujoshi as usually people and media that sexualizes and fetishizes Queer men and MLM relationships see women as some sort of threat to their ships, and as a result they will villianize and demonize those women.

Helluva Boss perfectly sets that up with Viv writing Stella to be some sort of evil bitch, when in actuality she's a woman whose justifiably angry at her husband for cheating on her. On top of that, we have Octavia, who just wants her father to pay attention to her, just for her to be reduced down as just another female character in the way of a MLM ship to happen.

I would like to point out that I've been in a similar situation as both Octavia and Stella. I've experienced infidelity twice in my life by my first two exes. My first ex tried to leave me for another girl who was already in another relationship (and it turned out he only dated me out of pity and had no feelings for me to begin with), and my second ex cheated on me with his previous ex and lied about the breakup between him and his ex. I'm also a child of divorce, and I have a father who would rather be with his girlfriend than seeing both my brother and I. So, as someone who experienced betrayal by both a parent and a partner, I find myself relating to Octavia and Stella and sympathizing with both of them.

People like Vivziepop and Brandon Rogers are usually extremely misogynistic and treat women poorly by reducing them down to being a bitch (Stella, Loona, Verosika, Vaggie, and maybe Lilith), be only known as the significant other of another character (Millie and Vaggie), or reduced down to just be another obstacle for a MLM ship to happen (Octavia and Stella). And it's really sad that Vivziepop, a woman, poorly handles her female characters, and there shouldn't be an excuse for it, too.

I honestly believe that Vivziepop really hates herself and must be dealing with some internalized misogyny. Women who have internalized misogyny view themselves as "not like other girls" and view other women with traits they don't like in a villiainzing lens. Which is why hyper femme characters like Verosika and Stella are characterized as being bitchy. While tomboy characters like Millie are the complete opposite of that and are shown to treat others kindly.

I wouldn't be surprised that when the second season of Hazbin Hotel comes out, Viv would probably plan on having Lucifer get with a male character, with Lilith (or Charlie) coming in serving like some sort of interference from that ship from happening. Because knowing her, if she wrote Octavia and Stella to be some sort of force to prevent Stolitz from happening, then she'll do the same thing with Charlie and Lilith if Lucifer gets with another male character.

Instead of watching anything HH/HB perhaps be more hype for the fact that Scott pilgrim got its animated debut nearly 20 years after the comics came out its finally happening!! It's insane to think Helluva Boss has over 80+ animation credits which is definitely not a good thing. It's one thing in industry to have a large studio but it's another thing of collaborating artists coming and going to work on an ongoing series is not a good thing to flaunt. Even if your show has won two independent animation awards you should take pride over producing to actually make something good instead of flaunting the fact that you acknowledge the bare minimum of abuse, rape, misogyny, supremacy, classism, sexism, or gender critical writing fails face first in every episode.

Within full admission of her nervous attitude without naming anyone within her team and just referred to everyone as 'My team/Crew' is very telling of how humbling she really even is.

Thr 'Yotta' she refers to is in reference to Studio Yotta, Helluva Boss is funded and produced alongside Horseless Cowboy with Horvitz towards the Casting Direction, meaning she's been funded with a major video game industry since day 1 of Helluva Bosses' production ergo, Vivziepop/Spindlehorse/Vivienne Medranno has never been independent in her entire production malpractice. She stated to be aware and know of wanting to work under SAG is very intriguing given that since Moxxie has been absent for half of season 2 its probably due to Richard striking as my best guess to the messy writing of broken railroad tracks that was supposed to be Helluva Boss production.

While it is one thing to have connections in industry to connect and come together and credit within your artists and studios, Vivzie does not have a studio. The merch sales/Patreon/YouTube QnA's directly go towards paying her animators, voice actors, and production management but not at all a 'Studio' she promotes herself as. All animation work and shots are handled through Discord and emails online this has been proven time and time again.

The fact that the pilot has been pushed aside so much over Helluva Boss and not a genuine interest to have redemption or care and love within the disguised nightmare that is Helluva Bosses' writing. She loves to flaunt demonology and love towards hell of aesthetics with demons/monsters she fails to actually represent the actual Demons of folklore/hell world building in HB leaves me to be worried... That she discredits actual Demon culture by stating

X - A Season 1 Helluva Boss poor promotional trailer trying to garner hype for the series acting as if it was telling a cohesive story with actual plot happening with little Stolas screen time. It makes me wonder if season 1 was an entirely different drive of writing thoughts and artist drafts compared to season 2's production.

X - Helluva Boss Season 2 promotional storyboard conception, Two years ahead of time and finally all the boards make sense for season 2 and there still is no eventual plot besides setting up Fizz and Ozzy over Belzebub and Tex or any returning season 1 villain akin to D.H.O.R.K. or Cherub/Verrosika and especially no sight of Moxxie and Millie development besides fight scenes.

It makes me think of however much season 3 will suffer to spiral into production.

Yep, It's Just Practically Official The Makers Just See Octavia As Manipulative Emotional Tool To Make Stolas Look Good And Disregard Her When She Gets In The Way Of Their Treasured Ship

This is supposed to be a joke, but in execution we all now Octavia at this point is just a tool to make Stolas look like a "good" dad when in practice he's putting Blitzo over her so much that it's not funny. Wasn't one of Octavia's fears is that her father will abandon her in order to pursue Blitzo.

With that comment that Brandon Rogers did it just confirms to me that at this point they are putting Stolitz so much over everything else that yes even Octavia is seen as an obstacle even though a parent's child should be more important than their booty call. And the fandom and the creators prioritize the other way around.

Seriously, in "Seeing Stars" we see him again neglect her when she wanted to keep his promise to see the stars. Also despite saying it's important to find her he slows down to watch his boy toy perform. In other words, he's all false words until next time when he breaks a promise or continues to be a lackluster dad. But we are supposed to give him slack because he's supposed to be trying hard or again invoking Stella in order to make him look good. Boy can barely do the bare minimum for his daughter without messing up and looking like a selfish pos.

And people want to point to this line as a sign of how much he loves Octavia, but again like everything else it's emotional manipulative bs when you realize in practice he has all of the power and could more easily break up. Sure, it would have be a shock to a young child but since Octavia is born he could have just packed up and kicked her ass rather than wallow in his self-pity while finally getting with his imp toy. Stella was made an obstacle from the start so that we would feel less sorry when he was cheating on her with Blitzo. However, it gets less sympathetic when we see how it affects Octavia and it makes him come across as a selfish asshole. At first the first season was condemning them, but nope season 2 basically makes him sad misunderstood woobie who can't do no wrong including ignore his daughter in favor of focusing on Blitzo.

It's funny that Loona isn't joked as an obstacle to Stolitz like Octavia is. It's probably because Octavia grew up with a married family and again doesn't like ramifications that come with the changes. One of them includes the fact that her father only pays attention to his crush while putting her on the backburner. And again despite the fandom saying Octavia and Blitzo would get along this joke panders to the idea that squashes it if Blitzo sees her as an obstacle to their relationship. And you know if it was the other way around Blitzo would be furious anyone would see Looney as an obstacle. And so would Stolas, but we know that in actual practice he would choose prioritizing Blitzo over his daughter and the narrative will say other wise.

Okay I know I want this to be a positive blog and not worry about antis but I gotta say the antis of Stolitz are cracking me. It's perfectly fine that they don't like the ship but they keep hating on Vizzie. Saying she's delusional and the only person who wants the ship to happen.

First off, if Vizzie did create the ship, she is not the only one who wants it to happen. Plenty of us want it and love it.

But second, IT WASN'T VIZZIE. She loves the ships and the writing is showing that, but SHE is not the reason it's happening in the show. Her plan was to always keep the same dynamic with Stolas and Blitz from the pilot. It was BRANDON. Brandon Rogers (ya know the co creator and voice of Blitz none of you HB antis ever mention) created the ship. He came to her about it and pitched it and she went with it.

Like again, you don't have to ship it, you don't even have to like it. But if you're gonna attack someone and clutter the tags with your hate, at least fact check.

A rant on Stolitz, as a Stolitz shipper.

I'm actually so fed up with the writing decisions taken this season. I recant my previous defense of Season 2 ep 2. As a fan of Stolas, the writing choices taken were awful.

The complete disregard of the development in episode 7 ( the best Helluva episode btw ) is not just annoying, but unsatisfactory. We are given the impression that Stolas might man up and stop chasing a prick who seemingly doesnt give a shit about him ( we know that Blitz obviously does, but Stolas does not ) but instead of keeping their interactions cordial and awkward/strained, they throw them right back into the horny bullshit they had before. I'm mad that the series wants us to root for stolitz ( which I DO ) without actually putting in the effort to show them repaire their "situationship".

What's the point in continuity? if I watched episode 5 and then watched season 2 episode 2, I would have ZERO clue that anything even happened between them. Vivzie is losing the plot (literally)

Vivzie is ruining Stolitz ( a ship that has insane potential to flip the switch and show two broken and hurt people grow TOGETHER. )

When we have to see them acting like absolutely nothing is wrong in ep 4 I'm going to pass out. Ridiculous.

( also random note, episode 3 was not funny. fucking at all. Brandon's 2017 humor really jumped out. Chaz's song got a chuckle out of me but that was it. it was tacky imo and Crimson is not only a fucking idiot but a terrible villain as well. )

For Father’s Day, the official Helluva Boss account has revealed Stolas’s father, PAIMON.

Before I get to the actual Paimon in demonology, let’s talk about this alone. First of all, the animation is cool as shit, I’ll admit. I love how you can see him transforming into multiple things, it’s nice to look at! I’ll also say that his design isn’t bad! First of all, I’m glad that he ACTUALLY looks like a damn OWL unlike Stolas, so there’s that, in fact, mans looks more like Stolas than STOLAS does. I’m also digging his color palette! It’s nice to see other colors than red, and brown and orange actually go well together in my eyes! (Though it wasn’t the best idea to put him in a brown background.) While I wish we could have seen the full body to get a look at the design, it’s not bad. Now of course, even though I say it’s not bad, I think they could have done a little more. What?….y’all weren’t expecting nitpicking? Y’all must not know me lol. Even though I like the owl look, he’s just an owl with a crown and that’s it. (And I’m talking about his normal look, so the other forms he turns into doesn’t count) perhaps they could have added symbols on his mask, or make his crown look more unique, or his cloak. I’m nitpicking though, it’s similar to my opinion on Vaggie’s redesign, where it wasn’t by any means bad, but they could have done more.

Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get to the actual Paimon in demonology, then I’ll discuss my thoughts on that, as well as what it could mean for the show! So for those who don’t know, “Paimon”, is a demon king who is part of the Ars Goetia. This is his original depiction:

((Piamon (also known Paymon, Bayemont) is the Ninth Spirit, a great king (governs 200 legions), and the most loyal to Lucifer. He has the power of air and is known as the Host of Spirits. He is the teacher of all arts, sciences, and hidden secrets. He used to be a Dominion angel. Paimon is depicted as a man with an effeminate face (a strong man with a woman's face according to other scholars), wearing a precious crown, and riding a dromedary. Before him often goes a host of demons and ghouls with the shape of men, playing trumpets, cymbals, and any other sort of musical instruments. He has a great voice and roars as soon as he arrives, speaking in this manner for a while, until the conjurer compels him and then he answers clearly the questions he is asked. It is said that Paimon is an extremely unrelenting opponent, in both his manipulation and hostility towards humans. He maliciously inflicts severe psychological, physical and spiritual torment upon his victims, including reconstruction of traumatic events, as well as horrifying visions and nightmares. Paimon is full of energy. Loud noises and bright lights tend to make him more active. He can also be surprisingly very colorful and very friendly. Out of all the Goetia demons, Paimon has some of the strongest loyalties to Lucifer. He has an unnaturally loud voice and when continuing speaking at such ear-splitting volume the summoner has to command Paimon to alter his speech in order to understand him.))

Of course, Viv’s depiction of him is different, so let’s discuss that, as well as some of the issues I have. Of course I want to say that like I said before, Viv’s version of demonology characters doesn’t EXACTLY need to be 100% like the original depictions. They are HER characters after all, and in this version, Paimon is an Owl demon who is related to Stolas. Still of course, I do have my worries and issues. The main and most important one is……well why make Paimon Stolas’s father??? This might come of as nitpicking, but it feels…..random. Sure, both demonology characters are fallen Angel’s and teachers, but there’s no real reason to make them related. In fact, someone like Paimon would fit for more of a tutor or associate for Stolas rather than his biological father, but that’s just my opinion. Usually when it comes to Viv’s demonology characters, they always feel like they’re who they are for no reason other than it’s hell. Viv changes the personality and look of the character anyway, and she never even USES said character to their occupation or more to speak, potential. The only reason I say all of this is that I’m scared that Paimon won’t be used to his full potential either. It’s ironically similar to my criticism with Stolas, where YES, he’s “Stolas”, but everything that the original Stolas represented isn’t really there. Sure, he has a book and seems to have an astronomy aesthetic, but like I said before, it’s more of a background thing, whereas the character UPFRONT is just this horny gay guy and that’s it. While his book contributes to the story, part of the problem is that we still don’t KNOW what his job is, or even how he rules as a prince or his duties, so instead we’re just stuck with the character who is labeled as Stolas, but in reality he could have been replaced with an original royal character instead of a demonology one. I’m afraid that’s going to happen with Paimon, where Viv is just….“yeah this is THE Paimon”, but just slap another character who has either a swearing ego or is your typical evil not understanding father. Of course, yes…I KNOW season 2 isn’t even out yet, and the first episode actually SEEMS to be finally leaning into what exactly Stolas does, what his job and occupation as a ruler is etc, but I sincerely hope everything is done for a REASON. Show us why Paimon is Stolas’s father, show us why another demonology character like Andrealphus is his brother in law, etc. I just don’t want these characters to be who they are for no reason ya know? As a writer, almost everything needs to happen for a reason. Even if the depiction is different, there’s a chance to deep dive into what this Paimon does and how he influences Stolas. I really hope we get some good lore of course, and since this episode MIGHT be a flashback, I hope it isn’t vague or background lore like what we’ve been getting in season 1.

Finally, what could this mean for the show?

Well, I’m assuming since Paimon is mostly known for teaching art, science, and having knowledge of all earth, he will teach that to Stolas, hence he will probably be the one to provide him this book. For Viv’s version, it’ll probably be a multiple generation thing, where Stolas gets the book, and then it’ll be his responsibility to lend the book to his offspring in the future. Due to that, I’m certainly wondering what they’re going to do with Paimon, what HIS job and occupation is, aka his purpose as another royalty member since here, both him and Stolas aren’t fallen Angel’s. When it comes to the book, the obvious question is what you DO when you are given it, so I sincerely hope that question will be answered in this episode. There’s so many, what Paimon does, why he needs to lend his offspring the book, whats his view on the occupation he has and how he sees Hell’s class, how STOLAS feels about these duties, what is the book’s purpose to this world of hell, why choose the members of the Ars Goetia as characters, there’s just a LOT of questions, and it certainly doesn’t help that the lore itself we get in the show is always vague or crumbs of information. We don’t even KNOW what Stolas’s job is, so it’s kinda hard to theorize what this could mean for him, especially since the book itself (for now) feels more like a portal plot device than anything else. Obviously I’m assuming his father will teach him about earth, astronomy, and how to be a good ruler of course. There’s potential for Paimon to be interesting, since he is depicted as “surprisingly being friendly ”, it would be cool for him to be that character that acts and seems very gentle and nurturing, but is actually very manipulative and a monster that you wouldn’t want to mess with deep down……BUUUUT I don’t think that’s what we’re ganna get. You all knew this was coming, but despite everything I’ve said, I’m not expecting a lot, more like the bare minimum. Like the critical fandom has already said, Paimon will probably be your stern, mean, controlling abusive father you’ve seen a million times in other films and tv. He’ll of course probably be prejudice and who could forget HOMOPHOBIC, not understanding of his son and just that old mean mentor who goes “Son, you must be fit to rule, son, you must take this job seriously, son you can’t show weakness, son, those below us are weak”— all that jazz. I also have the feeling he won’t be subtle at all too, like the writers are instantly going to make him mean and cruel upfront to prove he’s a dick. I’m afraid he’s just going to be ANOTHER pawn, a character in Stolas’s life that’s worse than him so the audience can sympathize and feel bad for him, and I’m sick of the writers doing this. It doesn’t help that season 2 has yet to show Andrealphus, ANOTHER character who’s whole purpose is likely to be mean to the uwu owl birb so we can feel more bad for him. I hate how predictable everything feels, I can already SMELL this episode just existing to show how “sad” his life as a baby was, and how abusive his father is and there’s just no fun in it. My expectations are VERY low for Paimon, he’ll probably just be a controlling father who wants to keep to the social norms (without explaining properly what said social norm is like) and as for the lore with the book and the occupations, I doubt much will be done with it. Viv will probably just be vague again and move on to the next thing without showing or explaining properly how anything works, but…..we’ll see.

This episode of course has potential to be really interesting, I actually wouldn’t mind it being a full on flashback episode, just young Stolas and his father teaching him the ways (it would also a breath of fresh air to get away from our annoying main imp characters sorry not sorry) but yeah, my expectations are still low. I sincerely do hope season 2 is better than season 1, cause season one is just BURSTING with issues (expect more posts on that soon!) but as long as Viv and Brandon are on the writers team, I’m not expecting much. We don’t know what will happen in the future, but all I can pray for is that it’s an improvement from the first season. 😬

I think part of the reason why helluva boss makes me personally deeply uncomfortably with blitzø as a main character is in partial with the fact that it willingly always portays his alcoholism in positive conjunctions with his employees around him and is never called into question or blame.... like at what point is stolas going to get over some drunk imp bastard that doesn't even consider to ever care about him, when he shouldn't in the first place when the relationship is built upon a throne of literal lies acting like an imp and a royal being together is absolutely disgraceful and classist in one scene and then the next they're just teehee'ing in the field of flowery hell as if these dark themes aren't brought up so passively and never handled....

A 32-character bracket tournament dedicated to answering the question: "who is the most capitalist bastard in all of fiction?" . Are we voting for our favorites or the biggest bastard of them all? ....yes.

First some ground rules

Absolutely no real people or companies. We get it it’s fun to dunk on people like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, but this tournament is more about escapism. Let’s face it, fictional bastardy is more fun to explore than what’s currently going on in the world. This includes YouTube personalities unless it’s very obviously a character far removed from their actual persona as possible such as Angry Joe’s Corporate Commander or Caddicarus’s Spons. In other words: please no Minecraft SMPs please

Acquisition of wealth doesn’t have to be their sole character motivation, but it helps if it’s still significant enough to their character and so long as they’re willing to do morally questionable things in the name of money they qualify. This is not however the “worst boss” showdown so even though Elias Bouchard was quite a popular submission I‘be been informed by Magnus Archive fans that he’s disqualified since he runs a non-profit.

Similarly “bastard” in this context doesn’t necessarily mean they have to be evil, some might even be protagonists in the stories, as such anti-hero characters are allowed so long as they meet the qualifications of having morally grey at best characterizations and money as a significant motivation. “Bastard” is also gender-neutral.

They have be private citizens in their narrative so monarchs and aristocrats are disqualified.

As per usual, you are allowed to make multiple submissions but you’re only allowed one entry per character.

Propaganda, reblogs, and fan art are fine, just try to be reasonable and not spam too much, and at least accept losses with grace. Even if you “call bullshit” on the results, at least be a good sport about it (ie…this is a Tumblr poll, bro please don’t take this too seriously)
