really obsessed with soulmate au’s recently and it got me thinking… what if john’s soulmate was part of the boys? a girl trying to kill him with an entire group of people also trying to kill him… and he’s fated to her? could picture him finding out and just putting his hands on his hips while turning his back to her and doing that click chuckle thing. just in utter disbelief but it is definitely on track for fate’s little play with him and his life lolol

Oohhh, you know, I've never played much with the soulmate au concept, but this struck me just right because I can so clearly see the slow, building meltdown that strikes him when that reveal drops.

The mirthless laugh, shaking his head, the hapless gesture to the ceiling before his hands drop. "Of course. Of course it's you. Why wouldn't it be? I mean—Christ, it makes sense, doesn't it? Every single person who was supposed to love me has-has fucked it, so why—" he keeps cutting into this escalating, unsettling laughter. There's nothing funny about it: you're sure that you're watching someone lose the last shred of their sanity in real time. "Why would my 'soulmate'-", he says, miming big, dramatic quotation marks. "-be any different?" That manic grin has shifted into tight baring of his teeth, a vicious sneer. He closes in on you, stands so near you can feel the heat of his breath when he hisses, "I should put you in the fucking dirt with the rest of them."

It should be terrifying, but it's hard to focus on anything other than the glassiness of his eyes. The sheer devastating heartbreak of it all, telegraphed clear as day in the way he carries himself. His eyes flare red, sizzling up the tears before they can fall. "And then you really will be all alone," you say. Maybe it's the hopelessness of the moment, maybe it's the shock of learning for yourself that he's supposed to be your one and only, but you feel numb. Frayed in a way you didn't know you could be. The crimson light of his eyes disappears in an instant, revealing surprise, followed by a wounded kind of look, before that familiar seething rage returns. "We'll see about that."

I'm curious how you'd imagine a full blooded wyrm would regard a wyrm hybrid child of an ascended wyrm, like in Hornet's case? (pff aside from the obvious kill death kill kill)

It depends on the individual wyrm, really! It's hard to say exactly what they'd think as a whole because wyrms are not social animals, so while they value power and resources, there aren't really any standards about what's 'acceptable' and what not. Some wyrms would likely find it a waste, and a dilution of the bloodline, both others might consider it to be quite clever- a way of ensuring that their legacy lives on if their fullblood brood fails, and a means of securing their hold on their kingdoms beyond what another god can shake from them. Demigod hybrids, I imagine, are rare to almost unheard of among wyrmkin due to the strongly independant and controlling nature that many posess, but I don't think that PK is the only wyrm-demigod sire out there, even if he's unique in that he chose to permanantly modify his physical form to live among bugs (I imagine conception with other wyrm gods would be either spiritual or with an avatar they summon for the deed alone). Most would be too preoccupied with their own lives to bother though I feel, and if a wyrm found a wyrm-hybrid demigod, the same 'mate or die' rules would apply. Hornet's a rare breed indeed

...I only just realized that you didn't specify demigod hybrids specifically. Oops. In the case of other Higher Beings x Wyrmkin offspring, however, I feel like the same rules apply, albiet that it's far more common than mating with a mortal. It's typically limited to more daring or curious wyrms, yes, but a core part of determining if a mate is worthy is 'how quickly can it kill me/how brave is it to try', which is a standard that many Higher Beings can meet just fine. They're still not very common, but they're also not uncommon enough to be unheard of. Wyrms that produce them are kind of like the alienfuckers of their kind- more common than you'd think, but still in the shadows. And even a wyrm with diverse sexual interests would still prefer to destroy a rival and expand their territory rather than mate most of the time

I CAN tell you that PK's mother would be disgusted with him for refusing to sire any fullblood god-heirs and watering down his bloodline with mortals though (that is, if she ever bothered to check in on her cringe failson). At least, until she meets Hornet. Then she'd be singing praises about her spirit, strength, and cunning while also betrating PK about how he's less of a wyrm than the spider he used to create her and it would be an entire shitshow that Hornet would have absolutely no idea how to feel about

I understood that Allant may have perceived the world will eventually end despite what he does so he decided to technically speed up the process and literally tried to commit mass genocide on everything cuz "there is no hope"

Even Marika,she broke the Elden Ring yes. But people still live normally before even the Elden Ring came so it doesn't sound so bad,sure it caused conflicts but people are still living. Yeah, that’s one of my favorite Soulsborne tropes actually! You’ll hear so much praise within the game narrative for past rulers or warriors that the people thought were heroes, but of course, when you roll back the veil and discover the true story, it’s always pretty grim and horrible.

Allant is one of those examples of a praised king that was truthfully the guy that ruined everything, but then there are the ones like Artorias, who you can tell WERE good, but they fucked up badly despite the claims and legends of heroism. I love that. Soulsborne is rife with this trope.

Allant was a royal POS, honestly. I can sympathize with his hopelessness about the world, but bringing everyone down with you ain’t the answer, my guy.

Well during the level with the dark links, Cia is sort of using her magic to kinda... make sure Volga doesn’t think about Link, basically. So she kinda keeps him off doing his own thing while she goes Dark Link crazy. Volga doesn’t think much of it at the time. Later though... well. it’s a good thing Cia isn’t around anymore.

Impa is not a fan. Fighting dark clones of her son (who is currently making rather stupid decisions, she seriously needs to keep an eye on him) and having them sound and fight just like him is just... horrible. Awful. 0/10, Cia will regret this.

Do you think pk would be the type of person to get a pet? The only situation where I imagine pk would have a "pet" is if hornet smuggled a baby mosscreep into the palace and begged to keep it.

LMAO not a snowball's chance in hell, unless you count the entire kingdom and its inhabitents to be his pets (which honestly...isn't too far off). First off, he's a member of an opportunistic-leaning-apex predator species that sees anything that does not match his intellectual skill level as prey. Second, he does the bare minimum of self-care and prefers to tend to others at a distance, a pet would not work for him in the slightest.

I actually can't see Hornet wanting a pet either, as spiders are obligate carnivores, so much like with her dad, anything smaller than them = prey. I can see Ghost or the other vessels enjoying the idea of keeping pets, though, as well as the White Lady, as long as they keep said pets away from the more flesh-eating-inclined members of their family

anyways i think that ash is more an import god (so as a result a lot of his myths would be him coming from somewhere long away and plus. have a bit more influence as his cult would travel to more places) and since him and red had similar-ish purposes, ash would be a secondary figure that was worshiped in the cult (and vice versa), but they'd still be their own thing bc i think they'd tackle the same stuff but differently

like i have this image in my head that ash would be a sign of death/war, while red's would be about rebirth/physical strength--similar concepts, but different ways they tackle it as you'd be more likely to worship ash is you were a war general but you'd be more likely to worship red if you were a warrior ^_^ i think that's why they'd stay separate (also because i don't like the idea of them being split off from another god or merging into 1 god bc the implications of that are uh. swagdoons would Not work well with that i think)

but ya! :D i also like the idea of them being associated with the underworld somehow, i haven't thought of creation myths for them but i just think it would be sick as hell (ba dum tss) and fit their general vibes!
