They live in a world without most electrical appliances. A FUCKTON of physical labor goes into baking (and keep in mind how often Sanji bakes treats for the girls).

Sanji being tired (physically) and not feeling like taking 10 min to whip whipped cream. Being tired (mentally) of Zoro making fun of him for never working out. Sanji saying "fuck it" and just starts putting him to work.

The foccacia dough needs to be kneaded? "Have fun working a sticky mess for 20 minutes, asshole"

Need meringue? "No, STIFF peaks marimo. Don't tell me you're wimping out already"

"Are you even TRYING to flatten that steak Marimo?"

"Yes, it needs whipped cream. YES, I know you just made some yesterday. We need more"

Zoro's shoulders are burning but he's trying SO HARD not to lose face with the cook and meanwhile Sanji is silently losing it at Zoro's shock that cooking can in fact be a workout

So, I’ve been blasting through Rose of Versailles this past week and really enjoying my time with it. It’s a 1979 TMS produced period drama series about the lead-up to and climax of the French Revolution through the perspective of genderqueer cool guy™️ Oscar François de Jarjayes (and a very sympathetically portrayed Marie Antoinette).

Not many people seem to know about it these days, even though the majority of the episodes were directed by Osamu Dezaki. It’s really easy to find out in the wild!

I know Zeff taught Sanji all about cooking and fighting, but like. He was also a dad. A dad who knew his way around a kitchen. And what do 10 year old kids love?

Science experiments!

Zeff making play dough for Sanji, teaching him how to make oobleck, heck even the icing-glue and recipes for making sturdy gingerbread houses.

And then Sanji joins the strawhats. And one day it's pouring buckets and the crew is stuck inside, bored, and without any entertainment, so Sanji remembers what Zeff showed him as a child. He makes them oobleck. He cooks some play dough. He makes some baking soda volcanoes and he starts doing cookie decorating and egg dying parties.

And so everything he learned from Zeff, the fighting, the cooking, and even the parenting skills, all that Zeff taught him is something that he shares with his crew
