Chapter 10
Eddie's POV
Eddie was on cloud nine. He had the girl of his dreams, was finally happy in his major and passing his classes, and Corroded Coffin was steadily on the rise.
Steve wouldn’t let him live it down, teasing him about the lovesick grin he had and how he ‘felt’ in his gut that you and Eddie would get together.
Eddie felt a bit saddened by the fact that you had gotten together before finals, so you weren’t able to sleep over as much or go on a date yet. Eddie couldn’t wait to take you out and treat you. You were his girl now.
But he also couldn’t shake this feeling. You were texting him still, sure, but you had seemed to be avoiding him even after finals, claiming that your job had you absolutely booked.
Eddie couldn’t help but feel like maybe you were avoiding him now after sleeping together. Maybe you regretted being with him. Maybe you faked it? He couldn’t stop anxiously questioning if you still wanted to be with him.
Eddie would not admit it aloud, but he was slowly falling for you.
He knew how you drank your coffee, or how you loved playing with his hair. He knew how nervous you got in new spaces, and how you laughed. He wanted to learn more. He wanted to carve memories of you into his brain, wanted to have the imprint of your figure in his mattress, have your touch burned into his skin.
He kept pushing off the idea of falling for you. He knew he was on the edge of the cliff, teetering on letting go. But goddamnit, if he wasn’t afraid. Eddie knew himself. When he fell, it was hard and fast.
It was fully consuming.
He was scared to let go and have you disappear, just like so many people in his life. Or worse, have you become disgusted with the intricacies of him. You knew so much, but Eddie still guarded parts of his heart.
Which was why he was staring at his phone, awaiting your text back, when he asked if you could head out to dinner after your shift.
Your reply stung.
Sorry, not this time Eds, I’ve got to help my coworker with her on-call.
Eddie, in a flurry of hurt and bitterness, almost texted back ‘Then when?’. He stopped himself before.
He’d somehow fucked it up.
He knew it.
Tumblr media
“Am I an idiot, Kurt?,” Eddie questioned the stray cat currently chowing down on his porch. Eddie had started feeding the cat when he noticed him digging through the apartment trash, feeling a tug at his heart. He’d always loved animals, knowing they wouldn’t judge him, even if he was a burnout. Kurt meowed at Eddie, chubby tomcat cheeks making Eddie chuckle a bit.  Eddie took a drag from his cigarette, careful to aim it away from Kurt, who resumed chowing down. He only looked up when he heard a commotion from the parking lot, seeing Robin and Steve scramble over to the porch, both of them calling Eddie’s name.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa! Okay, okay…What’s the big deal, Beavis and Butthead?,” Eddie teased, still trying to calm his nerves. Steve and Robin as a pair usually were a bit over dramatic about things (even for Eddie, who often dramatized most things.)
Robin stopped, her hands on her knees as she tried to regulate her breathing, wheezing. Steve was a bit better off, sighing before going into what was going on.
“Some account tried to follow Rob and I and we were like no, but we were curious because the account follows Corroded Coffin. And Robin and I were talking about how Bug has kinda been AWOL, and avoiding us. And so we were wondering if maybe there was something she wasn’t telling us about, so we went to look at the account, and it’s some troll posting super mean shit about Bug and calling her names just because she’s dating you, and-”
Eddie saw red at the mention. If there was one thing the Munson boy had little to no patience for, it was bullies. He felt his stomach twist at the thought of you dealing with the hate all alone, trying to push people away so as to keep from bothering them. His jaw clenched, his fists flexing and clenching, trying to soothe the anger he felt.
“What’s the account?,” Eddie asked calmly, controlling his tone and temper, jaw set.
Steve blinked a bit, shocked by Eddie’s tone but also seeming a bit fearful. “Uh, it’s something like the exterminator? Here,” Steve handed over his phone, showing the Instagram account.
Eddie scrolled through the account, the posts getting more aggressive as the account owner seemed to take candids of you, and post them. The words were cutting, and just…
Eddie felt his hands shake as he handed back the phone, anger running through him, a slow simmering boil. He walked inside, Steve and Robin following in confusion before Robin finally broke the tense silence.
“Eddie, what’re you-”
Eddie spun around, eyes rimmed red, hands shaking as he clenched his fists. “I’m fixing it.”
Eddie pulled out his phone, calling the one person he knew could get down to the bottom of this.
“Henderson…I need you to ask Susie for a favor.”
Tumblr media
Eddie was lucky that Steve had introduced him to Dustin Henderson. Dustin looked up to Eddie, and his little group of friends had somehow stuck to Eddie like old gum on his shoe. But maybe a bit more endearing.
Dustin’s girlfriend, Susie, was a tech nerd and genius, and somehow knew how to trace or hack most things.
Which was exactly what she did.
She traced the Instagram account down to an email, discovering what the email was a backup for, and informed Eddie.
Tammy Dreser. A member of the Hawkins Cheer team, and a close friend to Chrissy Cunningham. Both of them were part of the same sorority.
Which led Eddie here. In front of the sorority house on his bike, his face both angry and determined. He swung his leg off his bike, heading up to the door to knock loudly, met with Chrissy Cunningham’s surprised expression.
“Eddie, what are you-”
Eddie pushed past her into the house carefully, turning to her.
“We need to talk.”
Chrissy blinked a bit before closing the door, sighing. “Okay…What about?,” She questioned, crossing her arms, eyebrows furrowed.
“This,” Eddie said pointedly, shoving a phone in Chrissy’s face, the device already showing the account, Chrissy squinting to see the account and frowning.
“What? Eddie, I don’t know what this is.”
“Tammy made it. I have…sources… who connected it to her email. And I don’t take kindly to people mistreating my girl,” Eddie stated, his tone teetering on a growl.
Chrissy frowned, eyebrows furrowed. She bit her lip and gestured for Eddie to follow her to the kitchen, sitting down at the table.
“Let me call Tammy. We can talk this out,” Chrissy sighed, dialing away on her phone.
Eddie sat there, leg shaking in the hyper feminized kitchen, a frown practically etched on his face as Taffy entered, her blue eyes widening and cheeks turning red as she saw Eddie. She was quick to fix her hair and smile, putting out a perfectly manicured hand for him to shake.
“Eddie, right? I’m Tammy,” She said, tone bubbly as ever.
Eddie nodded, not returning the handshake. He was trying to keep his cool, and not explode on this petite brunette.
Chrissy cleared her throat. “Well, Tammy, it seems there has been an acc-”
Eddie can’t take tiptoeing around the subject, so he interjects. “I found an account cyberbullying my girlfriend. Connected to your email. Care to explain?,” Eddie grinned sarcastically, lifting his brows.
Tammy turned white as a ghost and started laughing, shaking her head. “I don’t…What? I don’t know-”
Eddie laughed humorlessly and shook his head. “Don’t bullshit me. Fess up, Tammy,” He said her name like an insult, making her cheeks flush red. He stared at her, her eyes wide and her shoulders caving in under his gaze. Eddie counted almost 5 minutes before she finally gave in.
“Fine! I made it. I was angry that Chrissy hooked up with you when I had a crush on you, and I wanted to make it look like she made the account,” She confessed, flustered and upset.
Chrissy’s brow furrowed and she appeared hurt, mumbling to herself.
"You're the one who hacked my Instagram...I kept wondering why I couldn't log in and why my account seemed to be following more people."
Eddie's heart panged a little bit for the blonde, who despite her best intentions, had horrible friends and a tendency to be naive or absent minded. But he'd worry about it later. Eddie was too focused on Tammy. “Take. Down. The. Damn. Account,” He gritted out, every word making Tammy sink further into her chair as she nodded, appearing annoyed and embarrassed.
“Fine, Fine! I will!”
Eddie stood up and nodded at the two, heading to the door as he heard hushed arguing and felt waves of hurt come from the room.
“You deserve better friends, Cunningham,” Eddie called out as he left, too focused on his mission.
He had to get to you.
Tumblr media
Eddie came into the building, making a beeline for your dorm. He knocked on your door frantically, hearing you scramble and run to the door, opening it a bit, just enough for you to poke your head out, your eyes rimmed red. Your brows furrowed as you looked up, a bit confused.
“Eds? What’re you doing-”
Eddie pushed himself inside the room, gentle but firm. You felt anxiety swirl in your belly at the disarrayed state of your room, the way you hadn’t had a good shower, stewing in your depression. Eddie’s stomach dropped as his heart ached.
You had been going through this alone?
Eddie frowned, his voice soft. “Baby…why didn’t you tell me?”
You felt your lip begin to tremble as your eyes stung, the sensation alerting you of the oncoming tears. You swallowed, trying to calm your shaking.
“I just…I didn’t want to bother you during finals, and honestly it wasn’t a big deal, I just-”
You felt your voice tremble, your vision beginning to blur. You shook a bit, feeling Eddie embrace you. You smelled his green apple shampoo and body wash, his warm vanilla and spice cologne…all below a soft lingering scent of cigarettes. You melted into his arms, sighing, tears still flowing.
Eddie sat you down on your bed, his heart squeezed at the sight of you so broken, and so lost. He kicked himself for not being able to see through your walls through text, and held you close. You sobbed into his shirt, shaking. Eddie rubbed your back, pressing his lips to your forehead, murmuring reassurances of ‘it’s okay’ and ‘i’ve got you’.
When your tears had stopped flowing, Eddie continued to hold you, rubbing your back softly. He felt the urge to talk to you, so he let himself speak without thinking.
“When I was in high school…I was extremely bullied. I was called a freak, viewed as an outcast. My mom had died and my dad was in prison. People knew Uncle Wayne and I lived in a trailer, and they didn’t let me live it down. When I came here, I thought I finally escaped it…Except… I didn’t. Jason was here. He was one of the people who bullied me extensively back home. He made my life a living hell. He posted shit about me, made flyers claiming I was a psychopath… it was…hell.”
Eddie swallowed, avoiding your gaze, trying to continue despite the sour memories.
“I was in a really dark place. I started doing harder drugs, drinking, and just…self harming any way I could. I was flunking, and lonely, as I was 20 years old and a freshman. I…I didn’t tell Steve about it. But he kind of…knew. And right as I was starting to get even worse, right as I considered ending it…Steve reached out. He supported me. He stood up for me while Jason was being a dick. And…a big part of me knows, if he never reached out…I wouldn’t be here.”
Eddie's throat felt thick, his hands shaking as he looked down at you, your red rimmed eyes looking at him in sorrow and worry. He grabbed your face, leaning his head down to press his forehead against yours.
“I don’t ever want you to feel that way, baby. Okay? I lo-, Eddie cuts himself off, swallowing, the word getting stuck in his throat.
“I care about you.”
You look up, sighing shakily and nodding, melting into his arms.
“I care about you too. I’m sorry.”
Eddie kissed you, trying to pour all of his feelings into the exchange, holding your face like you were fragile glass. He pulled away slowly, tugging you into his arms and just holding you that night, letting you melt into him.
He’d tell you soon.
But for that night...he just would be there for you.

[2:06am] Yoongi: You up?
You squinted at your phone, reading the message in the dark as the blue light shined on your face. You liked Yoongi; you really did. But more and more, you noticed he’d formed a habit of messaging you late at night. Only at night.
He’d brush you off when you attempted to hang out with him outside of work in the daytime, then later hit you up when it was convenient for him. You were starting to hate him for that and yourself because you let him get away with it.
Well, not tonight, you told yourself. I’m not gonna play that game. You put your phone on DO NOT DISTURB, returned it to your nightstand, and buried yourself in your sheets. You lay in bed feeling empty inside; you liked Yoongi, but you didn’t like this. Feeling so desperate for him all the time it was stupid and embarrassing.
Is that what love is?
You didn’t know. You’d never been in love before. Not really. Sure, you had crushes, mild infatuations, and situationships galore, but nothing like this—not this dull ache in your chest. If what you felt for Yoongi was love, then as much as you hated to admit it, maybe it was unrequited, and Hyuna was right.
Love had to be better than going to bed alone, feeling so cold and numb even though you were covered by a blanket.
You hoped she was wrong.
You wanted to be more to him than a few stolen kisses in the night and a body to hold. But as much as you wanted him to take your relationship seriously—to take you seriously—you could never risk asking him for more. To ask would be to give him all the power, and Yoongi already had enough control over you.
It wasn’t always like this. There used to be a time when you had all Yoongi’s attention.
You were so nervous coming into the club the first time. Back then, you still weren’t fully comfortable with stripping. But you had just started school, and though you already had a job bussing tables, you were still so very broke, and those bills wouldn’t pay themselves.
So you sucked up all your inhibitions and made yourself audition. You don’t know how Yoongi saw you in that crowded room. There were so many girls, certainly some more eye-catching than you, but he managed to catch you in the corner having a minor panic attack.
“You need to breathe.”
“Huh? Sorry, did you say something?” You blinked, taking in the appearance of the handsome stranger before you. On any other day, his intense eyes would have made you swoon. But that day, you were too caught up in your thoughts, worried about the worst possible outcomes of your getting up on stage. It’d been a long time since you danced for anyone besides yourself, and somehow, you were convinced you would mess up. Trip over your heels or forget a part of your routine.
“I said, you need to breathe. You look like you’re holding your breath. Are you that nervous?”
Yes, yes, you were.
You smiled weakly at him, clutching the water bottle in your hands. “I don’t even know what I’m doing here. I don’t think I can do this.” Your eyes flitted towards the exit.
“You’re here now, so you might as well go through with the audition. Don’t stop halfway.”
God, you thought, were you that obvious?
“What if I fuck it up?”
“Then you fuck it up. But that’d still be better than not trying at all.”
You remember being shocked at his response. But the more you thought about it, the more it made sense. Yeah, so what if you fucked it up? You didn’t know these people. Worse scenario, you wouldn’t get in and leave a little embarrassed, but no one would know about your private failure except for this handsome stranger.
You must have taken too long to respond because shortly after his blunt advice, Yoongi apologized.
“Sorry. . . I’m not that good at pep talks.”
“No, it’s okay. I don’t know why, but that actually helped.”
Yoongi’s eyes widened. Just a bit. Just enough for you to know your response surprised him. “Uh, good. You’ll be fine.”
“Thanks,” you said. Then thoughtfully, you wondered out loud, “Why are you being so nice to me??”
You couldn’t believe some guy was talking you down from your anxiety attack in a strip club. What was his agenda? Did he expect something from you?
“Why not?”
You opened your mouth to question that logic when you heard your name called. Your stage name. It was your turn to audition next. You glanced up at the stage before you, the black velvet curtain in the background, soft pink and white lights setting the mood, guiding your eyes to the catwalk in the middle. And on that center stage, those same lights highlight the silver pole in the middle.
Just looking at it made you gulp. Even though you were no stranger to the spotlight, having been a dancer, this new venture was awfully intimidating.
Strange enough, you found yourself looking towards the kind stranger—for what? Words of encouragement?—but he offered you none. Just a lazy smile as he nodded towards the stage for you to dance.
Truly, you don’t remember how the audition went. You were too nervous, too full of adrenaline to recall if you did well and if your movements were graceful and sexy rather than stiff and awkward. What you remembered was the conversation that followed, what you could make out of the hushed voices huddled together to decide your fate.
You strained to hear them over the thump of your racing heartbeat.
The first man to speak still seemed to be in thought as he stated his opinion. “I’m undecided. She doesn’t really seem like the type. . . I can’t imagine her sticking around for long.” He turned to the other judges in the room, “What do you think?”
“I agree with Namjoon,” said a man so pretty you could have mistaken him for a girl. “Technically, she’s a great dancer, but she’s lacking major confidence.”
Finally, the woman spoke. “Well, I like her. I think she’s got a lot of potential. Everyone grows into it anyway; give her a chance.”
Even with that vote of confidence, the group leader still seemed unsure. He turned to look over his shoulder to the man in the audience you spoke to earlier, the one you gave your whole performance to as you swayed on stage under sultry lights. “What do you think, Yoongi?”
At last, you had a name to put to the face of the handsome stranger. His dark eyes held no hint or indication that he favored you, and if his body language was anything to go off of, you were sure it wouldn’t be a good thing based on the way he slouched in his seat, arms crossed over his chest.
But then he spoke, a slow grin pulling over his face that put all your nerves at ease.
“I couldn’t keep my eyes off her.”
That was how it started. At the time, Namjoon, Jimin, and Hyuna were strangers to you. You had no idea the club owner and their two most favored dancers were in the room with you deciding your fate. Yoongi gave them his vote of confidence and sealed your fate. You started work later that week.
After you were hired, you were always aware of his presence at the club. You could feel his gaze follow you on stage, at the bar, always that cool, calm smolder. And the attraction was mutual. You constantly watched him in the booth, amused by his natural gift for music. There are so many shows you put on just for him. It was a crush, simple as that. You wanted him, but you were much too shy to say it. Thankfully, Yoongi was brave enough for both of you, asking you out after your first week.
The date was a pleasant surprise. Despite Yoongi’s introverted nature, he actually took you to dinner and made conversation at first, none of that Netflix and chill bullshit. His calm, quiet demeanor was infinitely attractive to you, and you found yourself mooning over him the whole night.
You hadn’t planned on fucking him, honestly.
But it’d been a while since anyone had touched you like that. So when Yoongi’s gravelly voice whispered in your ear, asking you to tell him how you wanted it, how you needed it, as his fingers rubbed sweet circles on your clit, all you could do was whine and tell him how badly your body wanted him with a desperation that couldn’t wait. You needed him right then and there.
The next morning, you woke up and swore it wouldn’t happen again.
But, of course, it did.
Again, and again, and again.
So here you were, stuck inside a situationship you didn’t want but one you always succumbed to. And tonight seemed no different.
Closing your eyes, you will yourself to go back to sleep, and you do for a little while. Until a pounding sound woke you up. You barely registered it as a knock the first time, but after two or three times, you dragged yourself out of bed and to your front door.
You had half a mind to reach for the bat you keep in the hall closet, just in case. It was an ungodly hour, and you lived alone (times like these made you regret not getting a roommate). You checked the peephole first, then sighed. Irritation rose in your blood.
You unlocked the door and snatched it open. “What are you doing here?”
“Don’t act so surprised. You were giving me puppy dog eyes all night. You really think I wouldn’t show up?”
You can’t tell if the anger surfacing is from your lack of sleep, the scare, or the fact that Yoongi is standing on your doorstep. It’s probably a combination of all three. “It’s two in the morning,” you said pointedly.
Yoongi isn’t phased by your grumbly voice or sharp tone. He shrugs and moves to step inside, but you block his path.
“Absolutely not. I’m going back to bed.”
“You’re mad.”
He didn’t say it like a question, but you could tell by the lilt in his voice he seemed surprised.
You scowled into the dark. “You can’t do this, Yoongi. Pick and choose when to show up.” Pick and choose when he could be in your life, when you mattered to him.
You motioned to close the door, but Yoongi stopped you, sticking his hand in the frame. And then he did something that made you pause. He reached for you, placed his hands on your waist, and pulled you close.
Shit.
Yoongi pulled you in like the tide. It was always eb and flow with him. When he did things like that. . . You couldn’t help but give in. You were weak for this, for his touch, for the moments when he wanted you. So when Yoongi swept in close, body heat coming off him in waves as his hand reached up to cup the back of your neck, you leaned into the embrace.
“I know I’m late,” he said, kissing the corner of your mouth. He nuzzled into your neck, sneaking kisses on your collarbones.
“Let me make it up to you.”
“Yoongi. . .” You started, coming to your senses for just a minute. But before you could protest, he interrupted you with a kiss. Any resolve you might have had left your body once his lips found yours. It was so easy to lose yourself in Yoongi. His kisses were fire, all-consuming, wild. You could never get enough. Yoongi licked into your mouth, and you moaned, stumbling back into your apartment.
And just like that, you crumbled.
You let him lead you to the bedroom, shrugging off his clothes, his mouth never leaving yours. You felt your knees hit the back of something soft and sat down on your bed while Yoongi kissed you stupid. You let him touch and, tease and pull you apart. Till the pleasure overtakes the pain in your chest. And it’s good, so good. Good enough to make you forget why you were even upset in the first place.
He inches you forward with kisses and bites—marks you know will leave a hickey—till your back hits the headboard, momentarily breaking you from his spell.
“Wait,” you said, eyelids fluttering open.
But Yoongi’s hands are already sliding up your nightgown, leaving wet kisses down your thighs.
And then there was the solid feel of his hands spreading your legs apart, lips dangerously close to where you needed him most.
He hooked a finger under the waistband of your lace underwear, pulling the material off.
“You were saying?” said Yoongi, and you shivered as his breath fanned over you.
Honestly, you couldn’t remember. You lost every coherent thought your brain was trying to form. All you could think about was his touch, his thumb on your clit, the feel of him stroking you gently. You were so, so wet.
And he knew it. You could feel Yoongi smile against you as he rested his cheek on your thigh, long slender fingers working over you until all you could do was tilt your head back and sigh.
“I love playing with your pussy.” He whispered, voice just above a purr.
His words made you throb. “Yoongi,” you moaned, his name a desperate plea on your tongue.
“What?” He answered, voice smug, “What do you need?”
Too embarrassed to say the words out loud, to admit just how badly you need him, you reached down, sliding a hand into his hair, tugging at his locks to pull him right where you wanted him.
Yoongi chuckled. “So impatient.” But he didn’t move his head from between your thighs. Instead, he leaned forward, licking a stripe up your center before rolling his tongue around your clit.
You couldn’t help but lean into the action, hips tilting up to catch the sensation. But Yoongi was having none of that. He brought up a hand, pushing one palm against your belly to press you down into the mattress, while the other caressed your thigh.
“Behave,” he said, the dominance radiating through his voice. It’s the only warning you get before he nips at your clit, drawing out a sharp cry from you, the pain mixing with pleasure. Before you could even respond, Yoongi lapped at your folds, tongue making a mess out of you.
You let yourself get lost in the sensation as Yoongi buried his head between your thighs, devouring your whole. You’re too far gone to stop the whimper that spilled from your mouth. All you felt were stars as his tongue curled around your clit, languid licks driving you closer and closer to the edge.
Yoongi knew your body like it was his. He memorized every shiver and shudder, every move that turned you on. He could hear your heavy breath, feel the tremble in your thigh, and know exactly how to push you over the edge.
So he does it, sliding two fingers deep inside you to press against the spot that made your body taunt with pleasure. The pressure of his palm against your belly, his hot tongue flicking against you, his fingers curling deep—it’s overwhelming.
Chest heaving, you called out his name, a plea and a warning all at once. You were so, so close.
Cum for me,” Yoongi rasped, voice vibrating against you, and that’s all it takes for you to fall.
You climax, pleasure rushing all through your body, blanking your mind, curling your toes. Your hands fist in Yoongi’s hair, once again tugging at his locks. Only this time, Yoongi didn’t stop your pleasure but doubled it, replacing his fingers with his tongue to delve inside and taste every drop of your release, stopping only when your thighs shake, the sensation becomes too much.
When you finally came back down and caught your breath, Yoongi lifted his head and met your gaze with a smirk. “Did I make it up to you yet? Or should I apologize again?”
Though you’d been satisfied, Yoongi ‘apologized’ twice more for good measure before laying you on your side and pulling you against his chest. Cold as he appeared, Yoongi defied all fuckboy logic and was quite fond of aftercare and cuddles. Thirty minutes later, he still laid beside you in bed, naked body flush against your skin.
These were the moments you treasured the most. Pos-coital bliss, where you could pretend, if only for one second, that you were something more than strangers who sometimes shared beds.
But they also made you the most confused. Because, here in his arms, it felt like more than friends, more than sex. But did he think that, too?
So many nights you spent just like this, trying to convince yourself that this was good enough, that you were comfortable living in this in-between state. But that was then, and this is now, and it’s not enough.
And now you know it never was.
“Yoongi?” you said, turning in his arms so you’re face to face.
“What,” he grumbled back, voice thick with sleep. It’s a sound you’re all too familiar with, one you’ve let lull you into a stupor time and time again. He leaned down to kiss you, but you placed a hand on his chest, keeping him away.
“What are we doing?”
It’s a question you’d always been too afraid to ask, but now that it was the only thing on your mind, you couldn’t stop yourself from blurting it out.
Yoongi scoffed. “Sleeping?” He nipped at the sweet spot on your neck, “Unless you’re up for another round.”
“Yoongi, I need—”
He licked a stripe up your neck, scrambling your thoughts. “What? What do you need?” He said, voice husky. It’s enough to make you moan but not enough to distract you from your racing thoughts.
I need to know what this is. I need to know where I stand with you. I need—
“More than this.”
“I’m serious. What are we doing? What. . . what are we?”
You said it. The thing you’re not supposed to say, and it made you feel sick to your stomach.
You shouldn’t—it’s not as if it’s some forbidden phrase, but the words weighed heavy in the air. You’re going places you’ve never gone with Yoongi, putting all your cards on the table. It’s risky. No one wants to be the one who cares most, but you do. And you know you’re not supposed to. You know you can’t say that you want more. That you want love. That somehow, this unspoken arrangement isn’t what you needed any more. You needed to know if he felt anything for you in return, and you needed to know now.
It was quiet for a minute before you finally said, unable to stop yourself from masking the vulnerability in your voice: “I like you.”
“I like you too,” said Yoongi. There was no weight to his words. He said it so quickly, so easily, that it stunned you.
Maybe a little too easy.
“So what does that mean for us?” you said, sitting up in bed, more awake now than ever.
Yoongi froze. “Us?”
“Yeah, is there an us?” You can’t seem to say what you really mean; the words hover around the truth of your real desires, that you want a relationship. It’s obvious, isn’t it? “Because if it’s not, if you can’t see this being real, then I don’t think I can do this anymore. I might take a break.”
He has to know what you mean. . .Do you really have to spell it out?
But apparently, you do because Yoongi glosses over the true meaning of your words entirely. “Can we talk about this in the morning? I’m tired. I don’t want to fight right now.”
He reached for you, his hand slipping up your thigh and rubbing small circles with his thumb. The touch is soothing, but your mind is still whirling. Still trying to connect the dots from what he said, what it meant, and what you heard.
“I don’t want to fight right now.”
Why does the question of choosing me have to be a fight?
It’s this thought that makes it all clear. It’s not a fight. Yoongi knows the question you’re asking. He just doesn’t want to answer.
You opened your mouth to say as much, but you’re tired, too. Tired of this bullshit. The ease with which Yoongi dismissed your needs time and time again. You don’t have the strength to plead your case, and you shouldn’t have to, really.
You laid back down with you back towards him, nodding your head in agreement even as you shoved your disappointment down deep.
As if sensing your frustration, Yoongi wordlessly consoled you. He trailed kisses down your body. Each kiss, a tiny apology. At the top of your head. Sorry. By your jaw, sorry. The dip between your neck and shoulder. Sorry.
Sorry, sorry, sorry.
Despite yourself, you lean into the embrace. Yoongi didn’t always have the right words to say, but he always had the right touch. Still, a part of you starved for a deeper affection, a part that even Yoongi’s touch couldn’t reach.
. . .
In the morning, you woke up to the shining sun, aching limbs, and an empty bed.
Yoongi wasn’t beside you, and the loss of his touch stirred you from your sleep as the loneliness crept back in. You know there’s no note for you to or an explanation to where he’s gone, so you don’t bother checking. Instead, you roll over to your side, clumsily fumbling around for your phone on the nightstand.
You open your eyes with a sigh, blurred vision trying to make sense of the digits on the screen reading 9:02am when everything clicks into space with startling clarity. Your entrepreneurship class started at nine.
Shit.
“Late! I’m late!” You shouted, hopping out of bed and throwing on a T-shirt and jeans. No doubt, you look a mess, but you didn’t have time to worry about appearance. You could not be late; this course was one of the hardest in your major. You couldn’t afford to miss any class and pass, and if you flunked out, you’d have to wait another two semesters before it’d be offered again. That was time you simply didn’t have. It’d put you way behind your schedule to graduate on time with your degree, and you couldn’t afford to waste more time in school.
It’s the desperation that has you rushing down the hall to your classroom, tired and out of breath after sprinting from the parking garage into the building. You’re flustered, sweaty, and way too embarrassed to make eye contact with your professor as you enter the room, only bowing your head in apologies as your eyes scan the room for a seat.
Mia flagged you down in the corner of the room, and you slid into the desk next toher. “I saved you a spot,” she whispered, careful not to raise her voice above the steady drone of your professor’s lecture about starting a new business.
“Thanks,” you said, eternally grateful to have made a friend in this class. Mia was a school friend who, through late-night study sessions and lunch breaks, was slowly becoming a real friend, too. If only you didn’t have more time on campus, you’d probably be best friends by now, but between working for two jobs and school, your schedule was always full.
“We’ll dive deeper into identifying your target customer base next week.”
When the lecture ended thirty minutes later, you pulled Mia outside the classroom. “Hey, thanks again for saving me a seat. Can I borrow your notes from earlier?”
“Of course.” You thanked her as she pulled out her notebook and handed it over.
“No problem. Where were you this morning? I thought we were supposed to catch up before class.”
You forgot about that. “Uh, sorry. I overslept. Rain check?”
“Sure. I have a class until 3, but after that I’m free. You wanna grab dinner tonight?”
You wince, knowing you’ll have to turn her down once again. “I’d love that. I really would, but I’ve gotta—“
“Work, right. Of course.”
“Sorry, Mia.”
“Look. I get it you’re busy. But I feel like I never see you these days.”
You can’t help but feel guilty knowing she’s right. You have been all over the place this semester. Your social life was definitely suffering for it.
“And when I do, you see, you’re basically running around campus looking like a total mess.”
Ouch. When she puts it like that. . .
Mia must have read the hurt look on your face cuz she quickly backtracked. “I don’t mean to sound harsh. I’m just worried about you, ya know?”
You know she’s right, but it still made you feel like crap to hear your friend chide you like this. You know you’ve been distant, but were you really that bad?
“And I miss my friend,” she added, squeezing your hand.
At this admission, you relax, understanding where she’s coming from. “I know. Today’s not great, but I promise I’ll make it up to you, okay?” You looked down at your phone, checking the time. Now you were going to be late for your next class, too. “I gotta run, but we’ll talk later?”
Mia nodded. You hugged her before hauling ass across campus to your next class.
. . .
“Do you know what an embarrassment you are to this family?”
Seokjin sighed, slumping in his seat. His father slapped the newspaper onto his desk so hard it’s a wonder the glass didn’t crack under his palm. It took all of his strength not to wince at the title:
Billionaire Playboy Caught At An Infamous Strip Club.
“I didn’t choose to go there. Taehyung and Namjoon took me out—“
“I don’t care what Taehyung and Namjoon do. They can destroy their families’ reputations if they want to. But you are my son. I won’t have you tarnishing my reputation. You think you deserve to run this company after a stunt like that?”
At this, Seokjin rolled his eyes. “I don’t think I deserve anything. I’ve never wanted this company,” he said.
“You ungrateful piece of shit.”
Seokjin meant what he said, but he wasn’t ungrateful. Inheriting his father’s million-dollar diamond corporation was never part of his interest. “You should hand over your company to the child who wants to run it. Sohee would—“
“Sohee doesn’t have what it takes to run my company.”
Translation: Sohee wasn’t a man. And Seokjin’s sexist father would never give her the chance she deserved to take over the family business. Even though she was the progeny most naturally suited for the job.
His father waved away the idea. “Enough of this talk of Sohee. You will inherit the family business. It’s time you stopped acting like a child. Have you forgotten your responsibilities? After your wedding to Mei, our company will expand. You’ll have no time for these foolish endeavors.
How could he possibly forget? Between the tabloids and the endless, frivolous meetings crammed into his schedule to decide what color goes best with the tablecloths or what dish should be served for the twelfth-course meal, he hasn’t been able to escape any thoughts of the wedding as much as he’d wanted to.
Seokjin met Mei under duress six months ago with the intention of their union expanding the company into the Chinese market. And though their families held a long-standing relationship with each other—they were practically strangers. He had no feelings for her, and their relationship was strictly business, to his chagrin.
Seokjin didn’t want to get married—let alone to someone he barely knew. But the decision wasn’t up to him. As with everything else in his life, his father made all the decisions. Every school, every job, and every opportunity was already picked out for him before Seokjin could even utter the word ‘no. Nothing was ever a choice.
He hated his father. For his cruelty and selfish ways, his blatant disregard for others, his children’s wishes, and the control he had over Seokjin’s life.
“As a matter of fact, I have an important business dinner with her father this evening—you will attend.”
“Of course, not like I had any plans.” Said Seokjin, smiling sweetly, but his eyes held malice.
His father cut him a look and opened his mouth for what Seokjin was sure would be a good cussing out, only for his father to explode into a coughing fit. The bastard was sick, but unfortunately for Seokjin, not ill enough to die. Just enough for his father to retire early and order him to take over, crushing any dream he had of escaping his legacy.
His father cleared his throat. “I expect you to be on your best behavior and impress him, boy. But don’t be a fucking kiss ass. Remember, you represent the Kim name. Show me you are not a complete disappointment as my heir. You can do at least that, can’t you?”
Seokjin grit his teeth, swallowing down his anger. He hated his father for his relentless demands, but he also hated himself.
Because despite resenting it all, Seokjin always did as he was told.
. . .
[4:34pm] Sunshine Boss: I have something for you :)
[4:34pm] Sunshine Boss: I know you’re off tonight, but you should stop by and pick it up. I think you’ll be satisfied with the gift.
You look up from your phone, stopping midway in your tracks. It’d be risky, but you could squeeze in some time to stop by the club before heading to your other job.
Jeongguk winked at you as you walked up to Paradise. You smile at him as he holds the door open for you, shaking your head at his endless flirting. It always amused you that he was the club bouncer when the kid was a little younger than you. But you always felt safer having Jeongguk at the door. You’ve seen firsthand how that sweet bunny smile could fade into a deadly expression. Jeongguk could be very intimidating when he wanted to be, and his muscles weren’t just for show. You felt sorry for anyone who crossed a line at the club and ended up facing off with him.
It doesn’t take you long to find your boss. He’s tucked away in his sleek gray office as usual, typing away on his laptop. He looked polished as ever in a new suit and a crisp white button-down. When you knocked on the door, Hoseok looked up and waved you inside. “Come in.”
“You said you had something for me?” You asked. You were still curious as to why he requested you stop by. Work was work, but Hoseok took your personal lives seriously. He never crossed the line between the two, so you found it odd he reached out.
“I do,” said Hoseok, reaching inside his desk drawer. “Your private session left you a big tip last night. I thought it’d be best if you received it directly.” You watched as he pulled out a fat white envelope and slid it across the desk.
Just looking at it made you raise an eyebrow. Hoseok’s bright eyes gave nothing away as he waved a hand towards the envelope, beckoning you towards it.
Without thinking, you opened the envelope and let out a little gasp of shock at the thick wad of bills inside. Hundred-dollar bills.
“All this is for me?”
“All of it.”
You shifted out a few bills, ready to hand over your expected dues, but Hoseok stopped you with a hand. “You misunderstand. I already have my cut. Everything within that envelope is yours.”
“Are you serious?” You said, unable to hide the shock in your voice. You had enough money in your hands to pay your whole rent for the month and then some. All from one dance.
The sharp angles of Hoseok’s face softened, and he smiled at your disbelief, a dimple showing out. “Clearly, you left a good impression, but I expect nothing less—you’re one of the best.”
You wave away his words, too embarrassed to accept the compliment, thinking about exactly how you won Seokjin’s favor. Just the thought made your heart race. As much as you hated to admit it, your patron wasn’t the only one affected by that last dance.
“I um—I’ve got to go. But thank you for making sure I got this personally.”
“Of course. Before you leave, your gift came with a letter,” said Hoseok, pointing back to his desk.
You don’t know how you missed it at first, but sure enough, another smaller envelope was on the glass with your name handwritten on the front.
“Oh.”
“I think you might have a new regular. Seokjin seems to be very fond of you.”
. . .
Later that afternoon, you pulled up to work, grateful you remembered to stash a bag with clothes in your car. You quickly run to the back, hoping to change into your uniform. But your boss caught you before you could sneak off to the back.
“You’re late,” she hissed.
Yes, that was becoming quite a habit of yours. You ducked your head apologetically, hoping the woman would scold you quickly. “I’m sorry, I was—”
“—I don’t have time for excuses. A high-ranking guest is coming in tonight, so just do your job.”
You don’t miss the pointedness in her tone—no fuck ups tonight.
“Got it,” you said, holding back your grimace as she berated some more before sending you off to change. All you could do was grin and bear it. Even if you didn’t feel like you had it in you to pull on a fake smile and tend to your special guests.
But that was your job as a hostess. It paid well, though sometimes it almost didn’t feel worth it with the snooty customer base you had to face, but between rent and your school tuition, you literally couldn’t afford to be picky.
Even if you didn’t have the energy to put up with these rich assholes, at least you didn’t have to pull a shift at Paradise after this. You just had to pull yourself together for a few hours, and then you could go home.
You change into a little black dress and switch out your sneakers for a pair of tall heels. It wasn’t exactly a ‘uniform’ uniform, but your second job still has a certain look and aesthetic to maintain. The dress hugged your curves in all the right places, and you can’t help but feel eyes on you as you make your way back to the hostess table up front, heels clicking.
Dionysus was in full swing, each white-clothed table crowded and buzzing, and you watched as people clinked glasses under the chandeliers. But at your post, you kept your eye on the empty room in the back.
Whoever your guests were tonight, if they were truly a big deal, you’d escort them to have their meal in that private room.
Once the opening crowd thins out, the evening goes by slowly for you, and before you know it, you’re sneaking a peek at your phone, trying not to keep your boredom at bay.
There were a couple texts from Hyuna and a picture she sent of herself and the girls at Paradise.
[6:15pm] Babygirl: I’m so BORED when you’re not here🥺
[ 6:16pm]You: Sameeee. Don’t have fun without me!
[6:18pm] Babygirl: You know it’s boring when you’re not here! Miss you tonight 💕
You heart the message, missing her too.
Still no messages from Yoongi.
All his silence does is confirm the feeling in your gut and fuel the quiet resolve to make a decision.
You’re so busy ruminating that you don’t even realize you have guests in front of you until someone clears their throat in front of you.
“Act like you have some sense. The reservation for the Kim Corporation is here.”
You shove down your disdain for your boss and put on your best smile, ready to greet your new guests. Only when you look up do you realize it’s not a new guest after all.
Kim Seokjin stood in front of you, handsome as ever. His fringe frames his face, drawing your attention to his dark eyes and immaculate suit. You could tell from the quality of his clothes that it was expensive, but the white button-down left open on his chest said that looking flawless was effortless on his part. His brows furrowed at the sight of you, but then the confusion cleared, and in its place, Seokjin fixed you with a dazzling white smile and said: “It’s you.”
You barely have time to recover from the blow before you fix your smile in place (the one you use strictly for work; polite and friendly) and greet his party.
“Welcome to Dionysus, Mr.Kim. It’s a pleasure to have you dine with us tonight.”
Seokjin blinked at your formal demeanor, not expecting your casual dismissal of his recognition. But you don’t react—you can’t. No one here knew of your other life, and you planned on keeping things this way.
“Please follow me; I’ll direct you towards our private dining experience.” You quickly turned on your heel, walking forward without sparing so much as a second glance towards him. But you can sense his eyes on you, that hot, molten feeling rising in your body as you lead the party toward the back.
When you stopped before the table, Seokjin pulled out the chair closest to your position, trying to address you once more. “It’s nice to see you again.”
You maintain your plastic smile. “You must be mistaken, Sir; we haven’t met. I’ve heard this is your first time visiting Dionysus.”
“You mean to tell me we haven’t met before?”
“I’m afraid not, sir.”
Seokjin raised an eyebrow, but your facade didn’t waver. If anything, your eyes seemed to embolden, daring him to question your professionalism. You’re so calm and cool that if it were anybody else, Seokjin might have believed himself to be mistaken. But he knows he’s not. As if he could forget your face after last night.
So that’s how you wanted to play this? Fine. Two could play that game. He’d get your attention one way or another.
“Excuse me, I have a special request,” asked Seokjin, successfully grabbing your supervisor’s attention. “Your hostess is so lovely. Is there any way that she could tend to our table tonight?.”
Your eyes widen in shock for a split second, not anticipating this outcome. “I’m sorry, I’m not a part of the waitstaff—”
“—Absolutely,” Your boss cut in. “I’m sure (Y/n) would like nothing more than to take care of your party personally.”
At the mention of your name, Jin’s eyes widened. He simply wanted you near, but his request seemed to come with a little gift now that he knew your name.
The realization must have dawned on you simultaneously since the look on your face is a mix of shock and rage. Jin finds the combination amusing, and he can’t keep the satisfied smirk on his lips, knowing he sneakily earned another night with you.
Serves you right for trying to ignore him. Seokjin gave you a look, cocky and full of ego, relaying this very thought.
You wanted to wipe his smug smirk off. Asshole. You haven’t waited tables since your first year in college, and now, because this guy batted his pretty eyes, you’re right back where you started?
Who does this guy think he is?
You’re beyond annoyed, but all you can do is plaster on another fake smile and join the servers at the table. Thankfully, you’d served with everyone working the table before, so getting back into the flow of things was easy.
You fell into step from memory; everything returned to you from years of practice waitressing. You reached past Seokjin to fill his wine glass, and the asshole had the nerve to look up and smile at you.
You smile back, of course, even though you’re silently fuming, but your eyes tell a different story. You let Seokjin see it, all the anger buried underneath the polite mask as you pour.
But Seokjin’s smile didn’t flinch, didn’t falter. You swear his smile only brightened, the grin spreading across his handsome face.
You didn’t realize you had overfilled his glass until you heard the scrap of his chair across the floor when he jumped back from the table.
You were so distracted you poured the wine right into his lap. But he didn’t have to know that. Even though it wasn’t your intention, you’re more than happy to claim the credit for his displeasure.
“My apologies, Sir,” you said with a smirk.
Seokjin glared at you in response. Now that the shock was gone, you had to stifle a laugh behind your hand seeing his pouty face.
Your boss hissed your name, eyeing you with a tilted head at the mess you were in no rush to clean up.
“Let me help you with that,” you sighed. You bent down, picking up a spare napkin off the table. You dipped it in water and mindlessly dabbed at the spill on his suit.
You were already so close before you realized your mistake. You could smell the heated spice of Seokjin’s cologne, and you were just a breath away from that dazzling face. Just as close as you were the first night you met. The memory of it flashes through your mind—the warmth of his palm cupping your cheek like you were his lover. It’s enough to make your breath hitch.
You met his eyes, and the depth of his dark pools told you you weren’t the only one thinking of your first night together. Seokjin’s gaze dipped, looking at your lips as he wet his own.
It’s that small action that brings you back. What were you doing? Surely you weren’t about to kiss the stranger in the middle of a job? Quickly, you removed your hand from his lap, clearing your throat as you backed away.
Your mind felt hazy, and you knew who was to blame. But what you wouldn’t understand was the fact that Seokjin had any effect on you at all.
You knew it wasn’t his status; you often came across rich men in your work. His looks were unparalleled, but you rarely found attraction towards a pretty face last if you hadn’t liked their personality.
And you didn’t like him, right? No. He wasn’t your type at all. Still, you couldn’t deny the pull felt whenever he was in your presence.
For the rest of the night, you completed service for the party away from Kim Seokjin. Dinner went on in a daze. And before you knew it was closing time. The Kim Party stayed the whole night, which was tiring, but the generous tip they left did lighten your spirits as you exited the building.
You’re halfway out the door, eagerly awaiting a night alone in your apartment, when you hear someone call out your name.
“(Y/n).”
It’s Seokjin. You looked up to find him leaning back against a luxury SUV. “Or should I call you Angel? Both names suit you quite well.”
Dammit. In the heat of the moment, you forgot all about your boss giving away your name. If your two lives weren’t crossed over before, they certainly were now.
You’ve half a mind to ignore him and pretend you didn’t hear him in the first place, but ultimately, you decided to deal with it before things get more out of hand.
You walked up towards him. “Look, I’d appreciate it if you kept that name to yourself.”
“Which name?” He teased, eyes glinting at you in the dark. “They’re both very pretty.”
“I mean it. People don’t know about my other job here.”
“So you live a double life? That’s sexy.”
“It’s not as sexy as you think,” you said, crossing your arms over your chest. “It’s actually really hard, so don’t make it any harder for me.”
Seokjin tilted his head to the side, studying you. You put up a good front, coming up to him acting all demanding. But he could see the vulnerability underneath it all; a part of you was worried.
“I wouldn’t dream of making anything more difficult for you,” he said, earnestly hoping to put your mind at ease. “Your secret’s safe with me.”
“Oh…” You weren’t expecting him to acquiesce so quickly. You honestly thought he’d be the type of jerk to tease you and hold it over your head like earlier. But Seokjin immediately respected your boundary; you didn’t even have to put your foot down.
“Thank you,” you said awkwardly.
“Of course.”
His behavior took you off guard, but you couldn’t lose focus. Your name wasn’t the only reason you approached him.
“Um, also, while you’re here, I’d like to give you this back,” you said, reaching into your bag for the envelope. You help it out for him to take. “Thank you for the tip, but I can’t accept this.”
Seokjin stared at your hand. “That was a gift.”
“It’s too much,” you added as if that held any weight.
“I haven’t to politely disagree. I enjoyed myself, and I value your time. I think the amount reflects that.”
“I can’t accept it.”
“Can’t? Or won’t.”
“Okay, I won’t accept it. Take it back.”
“No.”
“Seokjin.”
“(Y/n).”
“Why are you making this so difficult?”
“Love, you’re the one making this difficult.”
“Look,” you said, frustrated at the conversation. “I’m not in the mood for games. I don’t know what your expectations are. But I’m not that kind of girl.”
Seokjin shook his head. “I’m not following…”
“Well then, let me make it clear to you. I said. I’m not that kind of girl.”
You were all up in his face, eyes full of fire, and Seokjin couldn’t help but like it. For a man in his position, very few people had the confidence to speak to him like that. He at once found it incredibly attractive and entertaining, watching you sass him with your neck craned as he looked down at you.
Clearly, you meant to be intimidating, but all Seokjin could think about was how sexy you looked when you were assertive.
“You didn’t read my letter, did you?”
“The letter is irrelevant; I don’t care how rich you are—you can’t buy me.”
“I think you are mistaken. I’m not trying to buy you, (y/n).”
You didn’t buy it. If there was anything you learned in life, it was that nothing ever came free. There was always a price. And this man came from a world where money ruled supreme.
“Then what do you want?”
You. It was the first thing that entered Seokjin’s mind. The thought took him by surprise. It’d been a while since he felt this attracted to anyone. And he certainly didn’t know what he was doing waiting after dinner to talk to you. Something was there, but he knew better than to voice this new feeling aloud.
Instead, he told a partial truth. “I don’t know,” he said, shrugging. “That night…. I’ve never seen someone move like that. The way you dance...You captivated me. You were like a goddess.”
You wanted to be mad at him. You really did. But you couldn’t help but feel yourself flush at the compliment and the sincerity in his voice. Men flirted with you often. It was a hazard of the job, but not like this. You’ve heard men highlight your body before, but no one ever mentioned the way you dance with awe in their voice, not just lust.
“It’s only natural to give an offering as your patron,” said Seokjin, winking at you.
Your body betrayed you then, a flush that heated you up. Get a grip! You thought. You weren’t some lovesick teen. You were grown. You would not be swayed by some rich asshole’s stupid flirting.
“Well, I don’t need your money. Here,” you said, thrusting it out in front of you. “You can have it back. I don’t want to owe you anything.”
“You don’t owe me. I wanted to give it to you,” said Seokjin, stepping closer to you. “I think you deserve a lot more, to be honest.”
Seokjin placed his hand over yours, firmly keeping the envelope in your grip. “It was a gift. Nothing more, nothing less. Keep it.”
You’re so close Jin could smell you; your skin is warm and sweet, and your perfume was sultry and floral. Seokjin could drown in it. The scent clouded his senses and, clearly, his judgment because he closed what little distance sat between him and you. Here, he had a front row to your beautiful eyes, and those plush lips, and the only thing running through his head was what it would be like to kiss you.
Seokjin looked at you, really looked at you, and this time, he noticed you were not startled. Your pupils are blown, your chest rising quickly—he’d bet anything that whatever it is going on with him, you felt it too.
But again, you pulled away.
You took a step back to give yourself space and clear your head. Any longer, and you might have kissed him for real. And even though you and Yoongi were barely a thing and planned on ending things, you hadn’t ended them yet. Even though Seokjin had you wanting to cross all kinds of boundaries—you weren’t about to cross that line.
“I um,” You stuttered, “I really can’t convince you to take it back?”
Jin considered your question. “I’ll tell you what,” he said. “I’ll take the money back in exchange for a date.”
You couldn’t help but laugh. Was he really asking you on a date? “How is that appealing to me? That’s just swapping one problem for another.”
“It would be the best day of your life.”
“Now you’re just being ridiculous.”
“I’m not hearing a no.”
You sighed. “I don’t want to give you the wrong impression. I’m seeing someone. And even if I wasn’t—”
“Are you exclusive?”
“Well, no—”
“—Then I have a chance?” Said Seokjin, taking a step closer to you. He smiled again, and this time, his eyes crinkled at the corners, and you felt the warmth of his gaze flush all over you.
“I, um—”
Seeing you stutter, Seokjin’s smile brightened. “I do have a chance.”
Stupid, damn feelings.
“You have no chances,” you said, barely recovering from the brilliant attack on your heart. “Because I don’t date clients, remember?” You let words settle between you, their weight grounding you back to reality.
“And now you’ve also popped up at my day job?”
“A charming coincidence, I promise,” said Seokjin, placing a hand over his heart.
“Hmm. Well, I guess I’ll keep your money after all.” Even if he was the most handsome man you’d ever met, you were an adult. Your better judgment kept you from crossing that line.
Seokjin smirked. “Good.”
Good? You narrowed your eyes at him. He looked a little too pleased with your decision. “Did you only propose that because you knew, I’d say no and keep the money?”
“No,” he said, leaning toward entrancing you again with a close-up view of his superior good looks. “I hoped you’d say yes. But I’ll take the consolation prize.”
“Besides, I’m rich,” laughed Seokjin. “It’s not like I need more money.”
And just like that, the moment of infatuation passed. Seokjin was back to being a rich asshole. Perfect. You could work with that.
You backed away from him, heading for your car. “Goodnight, Seokjin.”
“Goodnight, (Y/n)”
It’s not until you’re sitting in your car, catching your reflection in the rearview mirror, that you realize you’ve got a stupid grin on your face.
Immediately, you stopped, catching yourself. It felt nice to be admired and flirted with, but what was your problem? Why were you smiling about some random stranger when you had a—
The bright ping of your phone went, and you reached inside your purse to check your texts.
[9:06pm] Yoongi: Missed you at Paradise tonight? Can I stop by later?
Speak of the devil…Of course, Yoongi would contact you now.
You didn’t owe him any loyalty, but that didn’t mean you felt comfortable talking to other guys. But still, why?
Yoongi wasn’t your boyfriend. So why were you giving him the boyfriend treatment?
“Are you exclusive?”
“Well, no—”
“—Then I have a chance?”
You shook your head, clearing your thoughts. Why were you thinking about Seokjin’s words earlier? He wasn’t even a dating option, but he did have a point.
For all intents and purposes, you were practically single, so why were you acting coupled up again?
You look at the three little dots bubbling up from your lack of response. How long were you going to keep doing this? Repeating the same cycle over again?
No. No more.
You fired off a text back: I can’t, busy, then threw your phone on the seat and started up your engine before you could change your mind
The cycle ends right now. You wouldn’t spend the rest of your twenties going back and forth with some guy who only ever wanted to sleep with you.
You’re young. You’re hot. You didn’t have to sit around and wait for some guy to want you. You could get a date with anyone you wanted, hell, even a millionaire!
For a minute, even though tonight was an inconvenience, you’re grateful you ran into Seokjin just for that reminder.
The next time you see Yoongi, you know what you need to do.
You’re ending things up with him. For good.

Miguel and Gabriel analysis talk (OG comics)
Kinda…maybe…idk…
Content warnings: there is mention of the abuse Gabriel and Miguel went through
Content warnings: there is mention of Miguel’s suicidal tendencies here
This may come out as complete ramble that doesn’t make sense and honestly that’s to be expected as I’m very passionate about this, like…extreme so
This is about the idea of Miguel relying unhealthily on Gabriel and how I believe the new writing direction of the comics cannot be canon to Miguel’s character and mischaracterise him because I fully believe that he would not be able to successfully be a hero without his brother.
If you don’t know in nearly all the new comics for Miguel o’hara, Gabriel o’hara dies, he’s either already dead, or dies within the comic, we are seeing that with the new comics about to come out as well, it’s even within the novel.
Though I do think the novel did a good job, the novel showed Miguel became a shell of himself, and became nothing, unable to find proper purpose, but yet I still think that isn’t right, it isn’t what I be,I’ve Miguel would do.
Now you need context of everything first, Miguel is spiderman second, but he is a victim of family based abuse first. It is what makes him. Him. The only family that has not abused him is Gabriel, his little brother, another victim of abuse
George is written to be an abusive asshole, he is misogynistic, racist, verbally, mentally, and physically abusive, to the point it’s believed that Gabriel could have gone through physical abuse, he was pushy and forced Miguel into schooling he didn’t want.
Conchata is neglectful, and physically abusive, even if the writers tried to pretend it was just normal things for mothers to do and kept trying to make him and her reconnect, and within latest comics she tends to appear to blame Gabriel’s death on him.
Kron stone is Miguel’s bully, he spends his time attempting to kill Miguel, publicly shaming him in front of people, and such in a way that can be considered another form of abusive. All while having a power position held over Miguel due to his father.
Tyler stone is abusive, he drugs Miguel, he admits he groomed Miguel, he’s not a good person, simple as that, he’s meant to be a villain in his writings. Edit: he also has an extreme power over Miguel though that’s part of grooming.
Who’s the only alive member we see that isn’t like this? Gabriel, his baby brother, that’s why Miguel is dependent on him. And I’m going to explain more on how he’s dependent
It’s shown that a form of self harm Miguel does is pushing people away he cares for and desperately needs, when he wants to harm himself, he harms the people he cares for, pushes them away. He has done this so much with Gabriel, the first time we properly see Gabriel, miguel is trying to push him away, trying to avoid him. Miguel attempted to push him deeply away in the way of cheating on Xina with Gabriel’s girlfriend Dana, he keeps working for the company that Gabriel hates, he does everything in small ways to get Gabriel to hate him. It’s purposeful, it’s because he needs his brother, and because he needs his brother, he has to attempt to push him away. He has to. That’s his self harm, which shows that Gabriel is one of the most important people to him.
Miguel needs Gabriel, he can’t deal without his little brother, in fact at the very end of the 1992 comics, when miguel leaves things behind and seemingly quits for some time (until later 1990s comics) that only comes after his brother actually “abandons” him, which we end up knowing isn’t true as it was a shape shifter pretending to be Gabriel, but the reason it seems Miguel ends up not giving up and attempts to keep going on is to find Gabriel. His purpose becomes more so to find Gabriel, to keep him safe, he knows Gabriel is alive and well, and needs to find him. That becomes his purpose including in alternative universes. Edit: his reason for staying spiderman is purely because of wanting Gabriel’s safety by all means
Miguel needs Gabriel, he can’t live without him, he can’t do that, and I’m saying that he would not live, he’d refuse to without Gabriel. You already see he is suicidal, he is known as the suicidal spiderman, he may be passive suicidal, we see drawings of him hanging himself. We hear how he makes plans to end himself, we see how he wants to end it but is too much of a coward. And I say he’s a “coward” as he sees himself as still having a slight purpose, to stay with his brother. But if he doesn’t have his brother?
Gabriel is his self control, his reason to live, the only family he has that loves him, he needs Gabriel, he needs his little brother, he can’t be without his brother. If you go by 1992-1995 writing, then it has to be argued that Miguel wouldn’t just keep being a hero, he wouldn’t keep being alive.
How to make Gabriel disappear?
The thing is the writers tend to kill off Gabriel to push the story, to push the narrative, Gabriel is like that female character in stories that gets killed off for the male protagonist, this time he’s just a brother, a brother that should not have had this happen, it doesn’t make sense logically. The thing is they treat Gabriel as uncle Ben, he isn’t, uncle Ben exists in their universe and is long dead, Miguel is not Peter Parker, Peter Parker exists in his universe and is long gone, he does not have a uncle Ben, it shouldn’t be that way, Gabriel is not his uncle, he is his only family he cares for, at most he should be treated like aunt may possibly, but barely.
I believe the real way to may Gabriel disappear is to not kill him but make him leave by his own will, alive. Gabriel goes through a lot of things, and logically him leaving Miguel behind can work. Gabriel’s girlfriend cheats on him with Miguel, his next girlfriend falls for Miguel, George only ever cared for Miguel, Miguel is loved by entire nations as spiderman, conchata starts to give him more attention, Gabriel is a victim of abuse that is a people pleaser, who is desperate for his mothers love, if he has to share his mothers love when he struggles to get the love of anyone else? Yeah that may start to push him over the edge, on top of that but Miguel does push him away, Miguel gives Gabriel many reasons to disown him. By all means Gabriel gets put through a lot of shit.
Make it so Gabriel leaves Miguel due to things Miguel can’t control but also can control, make it so that Miguel has to confront himself. Miguel has to see his actions, has to see his self harm, has to see how he’s a dickhead pushes people away. See how him doing things like idk sleeping with his brothers girlfriends is extremely bad. Make it so Miguel has to grow and learn to change, and go through difficult times, by getting Gabriel to leave him alive.
If you take Gabriel away by killing him off, it doesn’t give Miguel proper reason to change, it gives him reason to die. His brother that loved him so much and he loved so much died? What’s the point? But the brother that loved him and he loves so so much doesn’t care for him anymore? Miguel goes through a depression and then changes himself, so he can be around his brother again.
You take a desperate man barley living and get rid of his reason to live, and you don’t have what marvel is trying to convince you they have.
But hey that’s just personal opinion and maybe a fanfic idea for someone :D

tw// grooming allegations
about the dream allegations? im sorry but i cant fully believe amanduh's case because she has so many holes in her story to the point that she's also destroying her own case as well. i had a talk with my friend who was groomed for years and they told me what a victim usually acted when sharing their story.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i cant say if the victims should act like that all the time when exposing someone for grooming but it was really sus that she wasn't, uh how should i say this, emotional i guess???
(edit: i phrased that so bad but what im trying to say is that everyone has a different reactions to grooming but from amanduh's video, (i showed it to my friend after so that they'll the one who will judge her instead of me) both my friend and i noticed how she doesn't really put her heart into it in a sense? it's along that line technically but still not all victims have the same reaction as my friend.)
other than that, a lot of people were pointing out how the math ain't mathing with the story.
first, she said that she was turning 18 when dream texted her and allegedly started sexting her but in one of her tweets, she said that she just turned 17 last year. which is really confusing and downright idiotic if she lied about her age.
Tumblr media
second, she said that she was with her boyfriend during the years 2020 to 2021 thus she stopped texting dream at that time range. but here's what confused me, she herself said that her and her boyfriend met at april 2022 tho??? someone might ask "but bella, this boyfriend might be the different one!!!" no, she didn't have an ex. she could have explicitly said "ex", "ex boyfriend" or "current boyfriend at that time" and her boyfriend confirmed that he was already with her when the dream situation happened.
Tumblr media
third, she was still following dream up until today when people noticed that she made that post but still kept up to date with his life happenings in twitter. in fact, she was defending and liking posts about dream's face reveal no less than a week and few days ago. if she was a victim of his grooming, shouldn't she unfollowed and blocked him in all of his social media platforms??? make it make sense. (photos aren't mine, i forgot who the user is because of the sheer idiocy i witnessed).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
fourth, she tried to get keemstar of all people to cover her case instead of going to literal lawyers if she wanted everyone to hear her and the "victims" voices. if she really want to make a credible case, she should hold her cards close to her chest instead of showcasing the evidences in the internet before she could even take legal actions against dream. it's literally the best and most logical action she could have done instead of this.
Tumblr media
fifth, she already has a record of being...weird online?? like this photo for example is literally just crazy for me to read...i literally can't take face value if she's like this.
Tumblr media
i also saw people how the first girl before amanduh already admitted that her claims were fake and i wont be surprised if this one is fake as well. look im not a die hard fan or a stan of dream but i do watch his content and my friend (from earlier) does so as well, and they're downright pissed at this situation because these girls might have destroyed the chances for actual victims of grooming to speak up about their own situations. all for what? clout? it disgusted me and my friend to see people using this serious matter for something so cruel and malicious. i used to believe on the "believe the victim first and foremost" but after the amber heard case and then this, i would be more on "listen and criticize if the victim's claims are true".
to the girls who made these claims and proven to be false, i hope you have a fun time in hell after all of this.
but if it was ever proven that dream literally did it, then i'll retract my statement and remove myself from the internet to reflect.
either way, only time will tell and i hope everything clears up.
edit: no way is amanda fr rn. cuz holy fuck the story is so messy right now, first with avril then anna. and i saw accounts saying amanda did the same thing to sapnap, bad, skeppy and boomer before and im like wtf is going on???

C3E63 - reaction
FUN combat! Really pleased with the combats from this group, just been thoroughly entertaining and feel like they fly by! Interestingly though, this combat I kept thinking that I was seeing DM mistakes or player mistakes much more than usual. Didn't detract from my enjoyment, but took me a little by surprise.
Very fun moment with Marisha and Liam during the combat where she proposed he pull Hevestro out of the enemy with Seedling and he made a face at her because he'd already come up with the idea. XD
Poor barbarians and their wisdom saves XD
Wish we could have seen what the red orbs actually did. I think him reabsorbing one probably did heal, but it had to have been doing more than that, but they basically got sidelined.
Some Hishari lore! Finally! I'm actually very disappointed that this group has already finished and is returning back to the main grouping - this feels like it would have been the perfect time to make a detour for Ashton, especially because they Technically still had five days to do things (with possible who knows more from the failed teleport from team wildemount!). I'm not surprised that Matt had to massage the timeline a bit to make things work, but I'm also a bit disappointed by it. Especially especially because Taliesin has been showing interest in making storyline progress with the Hishari, having Ashton ask Abbidina and Hevestro about it. I hope more opportunities arise soon, but my guess is we're back on Main Plot track with the side journeys being finished.
Glad Matt specified that the Astral Sea wasn't just the sky/deep space.
I freely admit, I was one of the people who thought Bor'Dor was just who he said he was. I am very pleased to have been proven wrong! Utkarsh did a FANTASTIC job, and I see why they were pre-hyping the episode! Unlike Yu's about-face, this wasn't broadcasted to the audience at any point in time, so it felt like a true shock to the system.
Orym's little nod to Laudna! Laudna just completely losing control while feeling like she's in control! Delilah popping back in!
I fully agree with killing Bor'Dor. While the cast easily could have backed down and done a capture and talk scene, it felt right that it all boiled over and led to the finality of ending him.
I am FULL of feels! I'm very VERY excited to see how Laudna progresses from here, and also Orym now sort of shedding his hold on trying to be a Nice guy with throwing the locket away.
I wish we had another episode or two with the group. Even make it a little longer to allow for a Hishari detour, spend that extra time having team wildemount have to recover from the teleport!
Ah well. I'm still excited to see what happens next. IN TWO WEEKS AARGH.
EDIT: Oh! I forgot! I'm super confused with Bor'Dor's backstory though. The Menagerie Coast hates worship of the Wildmother??? What???

bound, ghost, heartbreak, wound for riya, meredith and jorina!
3 years late but finally found the brain power to ramble some things down xx // oc asks: not-so-nice edition
bound: Has your OC ever been imprisoned or captured? What happened? How did they get out? Did the experience leave any scars?
RIYA — been jailed twice, much to her (and her family’s) horror. first time she was arrested came after being framed for the murder of her lover and it involved a frankly obscene amount of drama. she escaped with the help of her family, surely a great deal of planning went into the break but she only got to see the end result of her father and eldest brother showing up to get her the fuck out of there. i don’t imagine she received any scars from this one, people would have been too scared to physically harm the daughter of duchess priscilla in her own city tbh.  second time came some weeks later, her and bastian were caught somewhere around hunter fell. don’t believe this was ever fully developed but almost certainly it was because of some bullshit on riya’s part, probably complained too much of the travel time or maybe they were arguing the idea of approaching his family for help, either way kept them stagnant for one night too many and the templars closed in. they got out through rasha’s warden recruitment + riya’s plea for bastian to be brought along too. bastian might have gotten a scar from the experience depending on how the capture went down, but i don’t think riya would have just because of certain spells.
MEREDITH — yes, loathe she is to admit it. seething the entire way, truly near to combusting with the amount of fury in her body at the time, meredith surrendered to ser cauthrien when offered the choice to do so or die (they may have been able to win the fight, but she couldn’t see a valid reason to risk that even in her volatile state). she and alistair fought their way out of fort drakon and i’m sure they earned their fair share of scars between them from those encounters, but i think any mark on her body paled in comparison to discovering the brutalized corpses of ser gilmore and mother mallol along the way 🤷🏼
JORINA — this question simply unlocks the fun potential of a scouts side mission where they get temporarily captured by red templars, which i’m so here for. the fun part is the brutal action and scars they get out of it <3
ghost: Who or what haunts your OC? What happened? How do they live with their ghosts?
RIYA — the valdivia brothers live in her head rent free. always making themselves known when she's left alone for too long and 9/10 times the subject(s) of her dreams/nightmares thanks to the lovely denizens of the fade. she struggles with immense guilt over their deaths on the daily. bastian's has a clear butterfly effect that she can follow to the beginning and see her direct influence in, while victor's is more that she was heavily affected by so many telling her that she was at fault. she has an odd half-and-half way of dealing with the ghosts, where sometimes she’ll do her best to actively ignore them by focusing on any task in front of her and sometimes she’ll let all of the upset flood in for like 20 minutes and just sob about them. truly where is a fantasy therapist she needs them. edit after finishing all the other answers: i'd also like to add on that i think the clear visual riya got of seeing the whole party and various other wardens fall through the cracks of the earth to their probable deaths is gonna haunt her for a little while. that was pretty terrifying
MEREDITH — the list is so long for her i'm not sure where to start or end. a great deal of the events in origins linger for her, some lie more heavily on her consciousness and others are a bare whisper of a phantom around the corner, but they all cause occasional bouts of melancholy or anger. her fallen family weighs on her the greatest, little oren the most. i think she'd go through some grounding techniques to help manage it all, though it would've taken her an insane amount of time to develop that ability. focusing on the sounds around her, listing all of the people in her life that she's close to, reciting her schedule for the day, etc etc, it all helps to remind her she's in the present.
JORINA — definitely the purge of the denerim alienage as a whole, plus one or two particularly terrifying men who took part in it. the horror-filled chaos of the fifth blight battles that went down in the city as well. the memory of her father in his deepest depression. countless things she witnessed during her time with the inquisition, i know some fucked up shit would have been seen. straight up didn’t deal with the hauntings and ghosts for years, with encouragement from friends she makes in the inquisition she’d start to heal by talking about them with others. takes a painful amount of time and usually it’s aleksi she speaks to, but it all counts.
heartbreak: Have they ever had a relationship that ended badly? Experienced some other kind of heartbreak? What happened?
RIYA — for the sake of a more Chill answer, we'll breeze on past the victor thing. i have no doubt riya’s had some relationships end badly given how extensive her dating history is, and tbh also the easily made assumption that she’s the kind of lady that made numerous mistakes to learn her lessons in this department. she's better in the present, but there's probably a support group out there for the people she's hurt/angered/broken-the-hearts-of. on her end, i don't think riya's dealt with the heartbreak associated with ended relationships because 99% of her connections were never serious in her mind. just all for fun or obvious they were there for purely physical, y'know.
MEREDITH — umm. kind of a similar thread with the guy fucking dying being the end of the relationship, but meredith suffered a particular kind of heartbreak with ser gilmore. they weren’t in a relationship and may not have ever entered one, but they were sweet on each other and she went for years believing he’d always be there in whatever future she had. we all know how that ended yikes
JORINA — jorina’s exempt from this one, aleksi’s her first and only romantic relationship. nailed it first try
wound: How does your OC handle being wounded? Are their wounds mostly physical? Mental? Emotional? What's the worst wound your OC has ever experienced?
RIYA — i’d say her wounds are mostly emotional at this point, and the biggest ones come from the aforementioned valdivia brothers. actual HP loss total forgotten, her worst physical wound is probably a toss-up between that time she was psychic-blasted by the keystone & when she was almost got fucking bodied by a darkspawn ogre last session, i’d lean towards the latter i think. she’s gotta still be nursing some injuries from that one but is being super brave about it, really. she DID cry and DOES whimper while putting her gear on after each long rest but she HASN’T made it everybody’s problem by complaining, so that’s super courageous of her and everyone should be praising her for that, i think. her reactions to wounds are very in the moment because she hasn't dealt with a lot of injures in her life, there's no self-trained response it's just pure instinct and emotion driven.
MEREDITH — the type of protagonist who doesn't acknowledge her own wounds until she's literally about to bleed out, because somebody has to be the leader around here after the battle and the various cuts and bruises can wait to be treated until after the adrenaline's dropped. i'd say she has an even spread across all wounds, but hangs more importance on the mental ones in her mind. the events of highever are #1 in the mental and emotional categories, while physical is likely from the encounter with arl howe. the combo of blind fury + being full-focus on repeatedly driving a dagger into howe's chest = not noticing being stabbed by a warrior's sword from behind until the fight's over and suddenly everyone's panicking over you (wynne was there so it's fine but. yeah).
JORINA — she'd be so stealthy on the field i hardly ever think of her injured, so this is a trip. she has such a good stone face that i imagine she handily pulls off the classic of nobody realizing she's been horribly wounded until she ends a conversation with pulling away a bloodied hand from her side and calmly asking where the healer is. i think it would be so fun if jorina's worst injury came from her getting fucking rocked out in the wilds while scouting for mythal's temple. the idea of head scout jorina being fully blindsided by the sentinel elves in their own terrain is super fun to me, i don't know why. send a girly and her squad out because they're the best of the best and then watch her get taken tf down by an insane arrow shot from the forest that's some dramatic shit right there

Okay best takeaways in the episode 6 podcast imo
- Them describing this episode as full of action in terms of mental games is incredible. Bc yeah, it is. And then saying that it should be just as entertaining as physical action if not more; how they enjoyed this one more bc you can play around with it. I agree. Physical action shouldn’t be used to cover up weak tension in a story. Tension should be held throughout, even when they’re talking quietly (i.e. Maria and Ellie’s spat). That should be what you turn to, especially if you want your real action to be impactful. Otherwise, it’s just watching a boxing match, entertaining in the moment but it doesn’t linger.
- Speaking of tension, I love how they keep bringing up what Joel and Ellie want to say versus what they actually say. Bc we as viewers know what Ellie really means when she says “I can’t fucking do this without you.” But they’re not at that level of admission yet. Or when Joel says “Your wife was keeping you off the radio?” He knows damn well Maria wouldn’t do that. She just let him into their fortress. He doesn’t want to admit to himself that Tommy stopped radioing him. He doesn’t want to admit that he’s a failure in Tommy’s eyes. And it isn’t until we physically see Joel realize he screwed up that he tells Tommy the truth. He still doesn’t with Ellie but he’s already established decades worth of trust with Tommy. When you write, you want to keep characters from admitting the whole truth until it serves the best purpose in the story. That and it’s part of the fun when the audience gets to play the guessing game of what do they actually mean. Just wonderfully good shit right here in terms of writing.
- “I have dreams. What dreams? I don’t know. All I know is that when I wake up, I know I’ve lost something.” THIS LINE CAME FROM PEDRO. IM SO SHOCKED RIGHT NOW. HOLY SHIT. Them acting like Pedro didn’t just drop the most heartbreaking new line of Joel dialogue (I mean I’m sure they know but still). Pedro’s so mean for that.
- They kept most of the scene™️ exactly as it was. And the line they changed for Joel was because this Joel is just a little different emotionally than in the game. Which I mean, makes sense bc it’s harder for audiences to fully relate to Joel than it is for a gamer who embodies Joel.
- I did not know that Ashley Johnson included not only the shove at Joel but also the weird “fucking” in the middle of the line when she does it. She was just so in the moment and feeling the anger. That’s awesome. It totally adds to the desperation of Ellie.
EDIT: WAIT I also wanted to put down how they described a panic attack. “It feels like you’re having a heart attack. It feels like you’re dying”
Tumblr media
As someone who has suffered from many a panic attack, has had to learn coping mechanisms to combat it, and is medicated, it’s right on the money. It’s what I’ve been saying this whole time, but people who don’t have panic attacks don’t believe me or don’t see how I come to those conclusions. Short answer: you stay in your head way too much. For Joel’s case, he’s just now starting to deal with his trauma that he’s held onto for years. In a miniature recreation of that, I took a Tylenol PM to help me sleep bc my foot hurtie. It helped me sleep so much it relaxed me. And once my body started reverting back to it’s old grind, I felt like I was dying and my heart started doing weird things. But it went away as soon as I distracted myself from it.
He starts touching his trauma and his body physically reacts. But it goes away when Ellie gets his mind off of it. But as soon as that trigger comes back…
- Mazin’s daughter sang the sad version of Depeche Mode’s song 🥹🥹🥹 that’s so sweet and doubly sad

Grimm x Pearl Fanfic WIP
Okay so... because I don't know how long it's going to take me to actually write this full fic, I've decided to post my progress so anyone who wants to can read it as I work, instead of waiting for it to be fully done. (This also will help me to be able to work on writing this while I'm away from home/my computer.)
Because I DO plan on posting this fic properly once it's all done, I'm not going to allow reblogs of this post. I'll keep a running list above the cut of when I make updates to this post, that way it's easy to tell when there is new content. Lastly, I don't think I'll do much, if any, proof-reading/editing of this fic until it's fully done, so there will likely be typos and some changes when the final fic is released. Until then—enjoy!
Updates:
June 10 : part of ch2 added
June 12 : all of ch2 added, first paragraph of ch3
June 15 : more of ch3

Synopsis
The Universe has a funny way of working sometimes. Pearl couldn’t see how the Universe kept insisting that, despite being jobless and weeks away from being homeless, things were perfectly fine and she was on the right track. And it didn’t feel helpful when her oracle cards clarified to let Death help guide her. Specifically, a Death-Head. And, in a way that only the Universe would find amusing, it was specifically the Death-Head most known for murder and torture in the North. A small quick prayer led to an accidental run-in, led to a deal that would change everything for Pearl. And for the Death-Head, Grimm, that accepted her request.
— CH 1 —
Pearl felt lost in a freefall.
The Death-Head deal was made, and she knew there was a near-guarantee it would be fulfilled in time for her to keep her apartment. But the unease of what she’ll have to eventually pay Grimm haunted like a shadow. In the day following their first meeting, she thought about canceling it. The only thing stopping her was the bright red number of her bank account. She needed money. She didn’t want to have to admit defeat, to move back home so soon.
She yelled out, jumping up off her bed and striking a determined pose. “This will work out!” she affirmed to herself. She had to push aside all the little things making her worry, and trust.
Trust in a Death-Head.
Alarming on cue, her phone rang. It was him.
“You have an interview tomorrow morning at ten,” he told her with no preamble. “I’ll send you the address. Do you have a suitable wardrobe for office work?”
“I have a couple outfits, maybe,” Pearl admitted. “I’ve had to sell a fair bit of stuff to try to stay above my debts, but I should still have at least one outfit.”
He was silent for a moment. “Hmm, alright. If your interview goes well tomorrow, we’ll need to go shopping for some more.”
We? First lunch with a Death-Head and now shopping together? Pearl’s life certainly took an absurd turn. She withheld a sigh. Then a thought occurred to her. “So what is the job for? Where would I be working?”
“Deah-Head Headquarters.”
Pearl nearly dropped her phone. “Death-Head… Headquarters?” The squeak in her voice betrayed her surprise and unease.
“Is that a problem?”
Now it was Pearl’s turn to be silent for a while. She had no idea what kind of office work Death-Heads required. Would she need to paint her face, too, if she got the job? Pearl touched her cheek. Working so close to Death-Heads… could she stomach it? Should she try to fail the interview on purpose? Sure, she was desperate for a job. But this desperate?
Pearl put her back against the wall and slid down to sit on the floor. She covered her mouth to mute her quickening breaths. Panic was taking over. It wasn’t too late to back out of the deal, but could she really afford it?
“Take a slow, deep breath,” Grimm said gently over the phone. His omniscient recognition of her panic attack sent a jolt through her, disrupting it. She did as he said. “Again.”
When he was just a voice, it was easy to forget what he was. And he had a really nice voice. It took a few minutes, but Pearl calmed down again. “Sorry.”
“No need to apologize.” His voice was still so gentle. “You have a lot of questions.”
“Yeah,” she said meekly.
“Hmm. Would you prefer to discuss them over the phone, or in person?”
“You wouldn’t happen to be available for a deal?”
The words escaped Pearl’s lips before she had a chance to second-guess herself. If the cards were urging her towards this path, it was worth the risk. Right?
Grimm looked at her for a hard moment. She didn’t appear to be the type he’d normally take requests from. He’d either be surprised by her, or he’d hand her off to someone else—she sure looked serious enough to make a request. “Hmm, alright. Let’s go have a chat.”
He led the way through the small, shopping strip to a café. He claimed one of the outdoor tables and motioned for Pearl to join him. She sat rigidly, contrasting his casual demeanor. “What do you want?” he asked.
“Oh. Getting right to it.” Now to put her request into words. How specific did she need to be with this? Pearl barely knew anything about Death-Head deals; did they often try to find loopholes in wording, and mess with wordplay for their benefit? She should’ve thought about this more before approaching a Death-Head. “I’m in need of a job. I moved to Lywood not long ago and I haven’t—”
He raised his hand, palm out, gesturing for her to stop. “I meant from the menu. It’s my treat for bumping into you. We can talk work after.”
“Oh.” This… this wasn’t what she was expecting from a Death-Head. If it wasn’t for his makeup, he’d be just another polite man. It muddled her opinions of him.
She took a menu from the centerpiece and gave it a look. A waiter came over shortly after. They set a drink in front of Grimm—he must be a regular here—then asked if Pearl was ready. Deciding quickly, she ordered a macchiato and a chocolate croissant. There had been other tantalizing options, but she kept it small and simple, not wanting to overstep his hospitality.
Once her food was delivered, he started talking. “So, your request is to find you a job, hmm?”
“Basically,” she said solemnly. “I moved here hoping Lywood would be better for me; but so far it’s just been slowly whittling me to nothing. I’ve tried so much, but everything seems against me. Even the guidance from my oracle cards is starting to feel mocking. Hell—it’s because of them that I’m even here talking with you.”
“Hmm?” That got him curious.
She bristled. Did she really just admit that to him? Too late now. She sighed to herself as she fished her cards out of her pocket—it was a little comfort to carry them with her sometimes. She flipped over the top card, revealing Death. “Usually it represents change—a figurative death. Rarely it means a literal one. But right now, it seems to mean you.”
“You trust in your oracle skills that much?”
Her eyes narrowed slightly at him. “Yes,” she said with a bite.
He held up his hands up defensively. “Apologies. I didn’t mean to offend or diminish.”  He took a slow drink, stealing the moment to ponder. He glanced between the cards and Pearl. There was something about her, and her situation, that piqued his curiosity. “Do you give readings to others?”
“Not usually? I divine well enough for myself. Most others tend to want more insight than I can usually see. Were you suggesting I become a professional oracle?”
“Hm, no.” He pulled out some money and slid it towards her. “Give me a reading.”
“Huh?” Wasn’t she supposed to be hiring, and paying, him? He… this was not how she thought a Death-Head would be. Was he trying to not scare her out of a deal? Was he trying to make her feel more comfortable so she’d ask for more—so he could ask for more? This felt too odd. “Why?”
He shrugged. “Depending on the cards, I’ll either take your case or recommend someone else.”
“That’s it?”
“That’s it.”
Setting aside how bizarre this all was, Pearl picked up her cards and started shuffling. “What do you want to ask the cards? You don’t have to say it aloud; just concentrate on it. And don’t half-ass this! The cards will know if you’re insincere in your request.”
He scoffs. “I don’t half-ass anything.”
It was unnerving, the coldness that crept through his words. She closed her eyes and focused on the cards, imploring them to give him the guidance he sought. Pearl did her best to not channel any of her own desires into the shuffle. But this needed to go well. Whether the outcome resulted in her working with this Death-Head or another, she needed this to work out.
The cards called her to stop. She splayed them out in a row on the table. “Pick.”
“How many?”
“However many you feel you need to.”
Grimm looked over the cards carefully. He could count on one hand the times he sought out an oracle’s guidance. Not because he distrusted or disbelieved their abilities. Just the opposite. The foresight of oracles was a powerful force—one he dared not abuse or take for granted. He pulled a sing card. The Sun.
“Well that’s a good sign,” Pearl reflexively said. She reached over and traced her fingers along the card’s imagery, taking a moment to decipher the correlation between its meanings and Grimm’s question. “The Sun is a very favorable card. Even when inverted, it still often signifies success and happiness and such—though it’s direct for you, so there’s no muted energies, delays, or back steps.”
“Back steps?”
She paused. How to explain in simple terms? “Anyone in divination will tell you that most of it is intuition based and not a firm standard of meanings. Well, one way that inverted interpretations were taught to me is that sometimes it means you have to step back to the previous card in deck and learn something from it before progressing—for The Sun, that would mean The Moon.”
“I see.”
“But again, The Sun is direct for you, so you don’t need to worry about any of that,” she brushed off. She cleared her throat and refocused on the reading. “As it stands, the situation regarding your question looks prosperous and beneficial. It’s a good sign to continue forward. Though don’t take that as a free-ride; you still need to keep up your end in order to reap the benefits.” He hummed to himself as he mulled over her words. As the silence lengthened, making her grow more uneasy by his lack of reaction, she added, “You can pull some more cards for clarity, if you’d like.”
He waved his hand dismissively, his rings catching the light. “No need. I’ll take your request, so let’s talk in more detail.”
Two emotions clashed within Pearl. On one hand, she was glad to be moving forward with her situation, relieved to know that she will soon have an income. But on the other hand… was the good tidings she just foretold to him in regards to this deal? Did The Sun, facing inverted from her perspective, actually mean the setting of her good fortune rising onto him?
She wouldn’t realize it unless she looked back on this moment months from now, but the cards were indeed giving guidance to them both; if only Pearl hadn’t clung to the negative—and highly absurd—interpretation, and instead reflected on her own words.

“…Phone.”
One by one, Pearl asked her questions. Grimm patiently answered each of them, elaborating as needed, without judgment. Soon the conversation led away from work. One random comment naturally strung into another. The silences ebbed and flowed just as comfortably as the chatter. He even got a laugh out of her.
By the end, Pearl felt comfortable proceeding with the interview.
That’s not to say she didn’t get nervous about it still. She arrived ten minutes early. There were a few others waiting around when she got there. Like Grimm had said, no one here wore the Death-Head mask.  It was like any other office building.
There were two parts to the interview: the typical questionnaire portion—though not-so-typical, since the later questions geared towards Death-Head related things—and then a practical test. While Pearl didn’t have direct experience working in an office before, her natural computer and typing skills, and her ability to pick up their specific programs, were of great benefit. Overall, she felt it went well. Though one of the interviewer’s questions lingered like a bad taste in her mouth.
“I’m sorry, I just have to ask. This interview was set up as part of a deal. Why bother with still going through the interview when you could simply get the position?”
“I don’t want to get a job that way,” Pearl said shaking her head. Grimm had questioned that stipulation too, though he didn’t come off as judgmental about it. “I made the deal to ensure I could interview for a job. I still want to rightfully earn it.” She didn’t add that if she didn’t earn a job within her deadline, then she would, begrudgingly, accept one fully handed to her.
As this was a Death-Head deal, Pearl had the perk of having her interview results be expedited. Not that this was a one-and-done kind of thing. Death-Heads were particular about all their employees. And passing the first step didn’t guarantee Pearl a job yet. Still, she made it through the interview. And her background check was nearly done. Next was the temporary work position.
If she made it through that, then the deal would be complete.
— 3 —
Pearl was excited for her first day of work. It felt good to be doing something, to be making money again. For now, she would be training and working in the North branch’s offices. On one hand, the commute was nicer. On the other, Pearl had a lot more interaction with Death-Heads than she expected. She was marginally more comfortable around them thanks to her time with Grimm. Her deal was working out.
But rumors of a deal made with the leader of the North faction soon became a thorn.
Pearl didn’t tell anyone about her deal. So, it was quite surprising to hear office gossip about her and Grimm. Granted, no one knew it was her. There was just talk about how strange it was that Grimm accepted a non-violent deal. She wanted to ask. Wanted to know the extent of what they meant. She knew that Death-Heads often did dirty work, and someone who was a faction leader definitely didn’t have clean hands, but with how everyone was talking about it, their deal was completely out of character for him.
She couldn’t stop thinking about it…
As the days went on and the gossip developed, Pearl kept to herself. She even started taking her lunch breaks across the street in the park. A number of her coworkers noticed the shift in her personality from when she started, though said nothing to her about it.
Grimm also noticed her acting differently.
Since his office overlooked the park, he couldn’t help but notice her visits there. That alone couldn’t be called odd. But he, too, started to hear the gossip. Add the reclusive comments from her performance report, and the pieces started coming together.
Pearl learned of Grimm’s reputation. He knew it was only a matter of time until she did. Still, it left him with a feeling he didn’t enjoy. He decided to check in with her.
Grabbing his own lunch, he made his way over to the park. When he found Pearl, she was sitting alone on a bench, zoned out and pushing her food around its container absently. “Mind if I join you?”
Pearl jumped and looked up at him, eyes wide and cat-ears pointed back. He didn’t mean to startle her. She recovered quickly, shook her head, then scooted over. “Go right ahead.”
He sat down and took his time to open up his bento. Pearl eyed the three-layered box, each layer packed with delicious looking food. Her lunch was measly in comparison. “How are you doing?”
Her shoulders slumped as she looked back down at her sad, barely-touched lunch. “I’m fine,” she said, clearly avoiding giving him the real answer.
His brows knitted the tiniest fraction. He wanted to ask, but ultimately stopped himself from pressing the matter. They weren’t that close. She seemed adamant to not look at him, so he started eating. Minutes passed in silence. Aside from his concern, the moment was quite nice. Grimm ate lunch alone more often than not; and it was a nice change to eat outside.
“Why did you accept my deal?” Pearl suddenly asked with a hallow note in her voice.
The feeling from earlier crept up again, leaving a bad taste in his mouth. Maybe this was a bad fit for her after all. He did something he had never done before and reminded her, “You can still back out of the deal, if you want.”
“What?” she snapped. She turned and glared at him.  “Okay first off—that is not what I said at all. Second—why would you think I’d do that to you? I basically have this job already; just because you said you wouldn’t consider the deal done until I’m no longer a temp, doesn’t mean I’d jump at the chance to get out of upholding my end of it.” She sighed heavily, looked down at her lunch again, stabbed at it quite aggressively.
Grimm stared at her. Her snap of fury surprised him—he also now had a feint understanding of the cliché of how cute someone could be when angered.
“Why did you accept my deal?” How to answer her question… Was it because of the novelty of being asked for a simple, non-violent deal? Did her being a fellow half-faced cat sway him to give her a break? Or perhaps it was all the little things—her expressiveness; her determination; how nice her voice was to listen to; the possibility she stirred with her oracle reading; the ease he felt with her—that made him want to help her.
“Hmm, I accepted your deal because… I just wanted to. Don’t know how to explain it.”
Pearl looked at him, examining him as much as his words. His explanation eased her anger. But not her worries. She sighed again, leaning her head back to stare at the sky. “Guess I should start get ready for a hefty price, huh?”
He hadn’t given any thought yet to what he’d ask of her. This wasn’t his usual deal. None of his usual type of demands seemed right. “Payment must be proportional to the deal. Don’t worry yourself so hard over it.”
Pearl stopped herself from thinking of ways a hefty payment could still be proportionately demanded. She wanted to believe that this deal with him wasn’t a mistake to make. She took a deep breath in through her nose, then slowly let it out her barely parted lips. “Okay… Okay. I trust you.”
Days passed and Pearl’s temp position was at its end. Having worked well, she was offered to stay on full-time. “Would you like to do the honors? Since you also have to ask for your payment,” Pearl’s supervisor asked Grimm.
“Hm, yeah I’ll tell her.”
“Do you know what you’re gonna ask for as payment yet?” Grimm gave her a lethal glare, making her flinch and quickly ramble, “Sorry for overstepping. I was just curious. Considering the situa… Sorry.”
Grimm knew what payment he’d ask for. But he didn’t want it to be gossiped around—especially before he could officially declare it to Pearl. He folded Pearl’s acceptance letter and tucked it inside his haori. It’d be another hour before she arrived for work. He’d give her the letter then; if she wanted to hear his payment then too, he’d tell her. Otherwise, he was fine waiting until they had lunch, or when her shift ended—yet another unheard-of thing for him to do; yet again for her.
It's a shame he wouldn’t connect these facts and their meaning until much later. For now, he only recognized the oddness of his actions, not giving them much thought.
Ten minutes after Pearl arrived, he went down to see her. Grimm’s visit was keenly noted by the entire department. And the moment he asked Pearl to talk in private, whispers chomped at the bit for them to leave. Despite everyone knowing Pearl was at the end of her temporary position and it was most likely that Grimm wanted to talk to her about staying on, the gossip of his newest, usual deal was rekindled by the fact that it was uncommon for him to handle such a task.
“It’s time, huh?” Pearl said. “The end of the deal.”
“Yes.” He gave her the letter, then gave her a moment to process it, to ready herself for what he was about to ask of her. “For payment, you owe me nineteen kisses.”
“What?” she immediately interjected. She would have never guessed he’d ask for something like that.
He raised his brow impatiently at her before continuing. “There are rules to this payment. First, only one kiss per day will count towards the payment. Second, kisses must be on the lips.. Third, someone else must be around for the kiss to count. Fourth, you have nineteen weeks to fulfill your payment; if you fail, you’re to quit this job immediately without severance. Lastly, until your payment is complete, you will be my avec to any and all occasions I request.”
She needed another moment to process this. Why was the death and decapitation guy asking this for his payment? Was it some sort of humiliation tactic because there was nothing worse he could reasonably ask for? Ultimately… Pearl decided that it was okay. It was just a handful of kisses. And she was comfortable being around him. Though, maybe less so now that she’d be constantly thinking about having to kiss him. Nineteen kisses. What an odd number to ask for. “Why nineteen?”
“For The Sun card.”
Pearl’s eye twitched. Really? That was his reason? She screamed internally at the way her oracle reading was unfolding.
But it was okay.
She had a job now. And the payment to the Death-Head was generous, all things considered. Things were working out, just like her cards had told her.
“Okay,” she agreed and stepped towards him confidently. “Nineteen kisses. And all those rules. Though tell me.” She glanced to the upper corner of the room. “Does the security guard watching on the camera count for the third rule?”
He wasn’t expecting that. He laughed, smirking cockily at her. “Hmm, know what. Sure. Just this time, it’ll count.”
She quickly raised up on her toes and kissed him. She just as quickly turned away to hide the blush spreading across her face. She cleared her throat. “Is there anything else you need from me?”
“No. You’re free to go.”
Pearl left the break room. Instead of returning to her desk, she snuck into the bathroom. She splashed water on her face a couple times, focusing on relaxing her racing emotions and heartbeat.
Nineteen kisses. Eighteen more to go.
— 4 —
Things continued on for Pearl as they had been the past few weeks. Except now she had an income. She was slowing paying off her debts. And she was also having a lot more, awkward encounters with Grimm at work. It could’ve just been her biased perspective, but he seemed to linger around her more. Did he think she’d kiss him at work in front of everyone? She’d rather avoid that, if possible. Stealing a few kisses while they had lunch across the street at the park was enough of a risk for her.
Sixteen.
It was on another one of these days where she contemplated kissing him, that Grimm called in the last rule of their deal. “Next Friday there’s a small event I have to go to. Semi-formal. I’ll pick you up at 6:00pm.”
Pearl’s thoughts slammed to a halt. She wasn’t expecting this part of the deal to come up so soon. The most formal event she had ever been to was a school dance ages ago. Her thoughts darted in countless directions. “Is… is this a Death Head event?”
“Yes.”
So, she’d have to deal with other Death Heads too… At least it was just semi-formal. Though she still didn’t have anything suitable. She wondered if she could get Grimm to buy her a new dress for the event, just like how he bought her some new outfits for work. Did she dare ask?
“If you have any more questions, just message me,” he said, getting up to leave. Any words Pearl had caught in her throat as she watched him go.
With this event now on her plate, the coming days grew stressful. But Pearl was determined to not let it get to her. She focused on what she could control. Namely, her outfit. She spent her free time thinking about the kind of dress she wanted to wear. The color, the cut and material. She had it all figured out so that when her next day off rolled around, she was ready for a day of shopping. She then planned her makeup and hairstyle for the evening—ultimately keeping everything simple.
She was as prepared as she could be. Grimm was punctual Friday evening. He pressed the buzzer, ringing her apartment. “Be right down,” she said over the intercom. When she came out the front door, they both just… stared at each other, taken aback by the little changes each made.

Overall, Grimm’s outfit was the same as it always was: a black haori over a white dress shirt, and plain black slacks. However, the subtle difference of the black-on-black jacquard haori he wore tonight gave him a refined touch. It also helped that he buttoned up his shirt more. But the haori was part of his signature.
And Pearl—she was a breath of spring. Her dress was a comfortable, rayon wrap dress with a ruffle along the hem, and short, flowy butterfly sleeves. The color matched her eyes perfectly. And her golden eyeshadow and rose gold lipstick were the perfect accents.
The soft rumble of distant thunder broke the moment.
Pearl looked to the sky. No clouds were gathering immediately, and she hoped it stayed that way. She’d hate to have to bring a coat—she only had one heavy winter coat, some work blazers, and a few casual jackets and sweaters of varying weight, making none of them ideal for the evening. “I hope the storm misses us,” she said, more so to herself than trying to make conversation. Brushing off her concerns, she turned back towards Grimm. “Shall we go?”
The event was hosted at a fancy hotel, not far from Death Head HQ. Grimm pulled to the front, handed his keys to the valet, then went to help Pearl out of the car. Not that she needed it. She was already walking around the front of the car. Grimm gave her a look. She shrugged. “What?”
“Can I at least escort you inside?” he sassed, raising his arm up in offering.
She scoffed and rolled her eyes. “You’re seriously upset over not opening my door?”
“I’m not upset.”
“Oh yeah? Your furrowed brow says otherwise.” She smiled coltishly. “Maybe I should escort you inside.” She held up her arm, mirroring him.
His kneejerk reaction was to refuse. She was his avec; he was her senior, both within the company and in age. No one dared joke with him so casually—except for Algoth, though his jokes were more often gibes. Grimm decided to lean into it. “Alright then,” he agreed, and hooked his hand up under her arm. “Lead the way.”
Pearl was not prepared for this. “What? No. I don’t know where to go. I don’t want this responsibility anymore!”
He leaned in close with a dangerous smirk. “Perhaps if you make a little payment, I’ll change my mind.”
Pearl’s face quickly turned red. Did she dare kiss him here in plain view of so many of their coworkers? His face was already so close. It would be quick. Maybe no one was looking at them, so she wouldn’t need to deal with prying questions and gossip later.
“Good evening, Sir,” someone interrupted.
Grimm righted himself and turned towards the other Death Head. “You’re here early.”
“You’re just late.” His gaze slid over to Pearl. “Since you brought an avec this time.”
“Pearl, this is my assistant, Algoth,” Grimm introduced. “But ignore what he said; we’re not late.”
“Tell that to Kahamet.”
“Hmm. I wonder what’s got him so impatient tonight.” He sighed. “Guess I better deal with him sooner rather than later.”
They all went inside together. There were far more guests than Pearl expected. She knew not everyone there worked within the Death-Head Organization. But most did. She took a steadying breath and reminded herself that, as wild as it was, she was one of them now too.
Grimm noticed her nerves. “You okay?” he quietly asked.
“Yeah. Yeah I’m good.”
And for a moment she was.
The stares started to linger as the three of them went through the ballroom. She stopped looking for familiar faces. After grabbing glasses of wine, Grimm told Algoth to keep Pearl company while he went to talk with Kahamet.
“So, you’re Pearl Helmi,” Algoth said slowly.
A little part inside Pearl started screaming. He knew her full name? Well—he was Grimm’s assistant. It wouldn’t be too surprising if he knew about their deal. But his gaze was unforgiving, almost threatening. She didn’t like it. He was even more intimidating than Grimm was when she first met him.
After a drawn-out moment, he made a soft hmph sound. Algoth reached into his jacket, then offered her his business card. “If Grimm acts out of line, let me know.”
Pearl stared at him, absolutely dumbfounded. Was he indirectly threatening Grimm? Did he know something Grimm had planned that she didn’t? She accepted the card. “Thanks?” she said meekly.
“I’m curious though… You’re not his usual type.”
She definitely misinterpreted his words. “W-what?”
“Have you really not heard about his usual deals yet?”
“Oh, our deal,” she said, realizing a little too late how revealing those words were.
A sly grin grew across his face. He wasn’t quite sure yet what was going on with them, but this little slip got him closer. “Yes. Usually, he only makes deals involving torture or murder; requesting payment equally painful, like all one’s teeth.” Pearl shivered. She had heard of this, to a degree, but no specifications about the payments he asked for. “When the paperwork for your deal first came across my desk, I thought it might be some sort of test—to see how attentive I am filing all out papers—or perhaps a joke he was playing.
“But here you are,” he punctuated by tipping his drink towards her. Then he took a sip.
His gaze had yet to waver from Pearl, and oh boy, did she feel it boring into her. Algoth was definitely worse than Grimm. She could enjoy a meal and laugh with Grimm. Algoth, on the other hand… at first he seemed to want to maybe help her—albeit in an intimidating manner. But then how the conversation changed… what was his goal with all that?
Whatever it was, she did not have the energy to parse it tonight.
“Heh, yeah. Maybe he made a bet with someone and had to take next job request he got and ended up with me?” she joked lightly, her heart not in it. She took a sip of her drink and scanned the perimeter of the room. “Do you know where the bathroom is? An eyelash is starting to attack my eye.” It was a lie. Pearl just wanted to escape the intense interaction. If Algoth realized this, he didn’t call her on it.
“Where’s Pearl?” Grimm immediately asked upon returning to the gala nearly twenty minutes later.
Algoth shrugged. “Probably hiding out in the bathroom.”
Grimm’s face twitched into a brief snarl. “And why would that be?” he slowly growled.
“Just made sure she knew the full you,” Algoth answered nonchalantly, staring dully at him. “What is you aim with her? I know what you’re making her pay you.” Grimm’s hand went up, but stopped short from grabbing him by the lapels of his coat. Algoth looked down at Grimm’s hand as it gradually balled into a fist and lowered back to his side. He snickered. "Go comfort your princess," he said. His gaze slid away from Grimm and then took a drink.
Grimm clapped him on the shoulder, took a step closer, and whispered a threat into his ear. "Give me all the shit you want. But not her."
Algoth's smirk grew smugger as his boss walked off. "Wonder how long it'll take him to realize," he said to himself.
It was easy finding Pearl out in the hallway. She was sitting on a bench, casually chatting with another HQ officer worker.
"So this is where you've been hiding," Grimm butted in.
"Oh, hey Grimm. Not exactly hiding. But yeah, taking a break from… all that," she said and gestured in the direction of the ballroom.
"What did Algoth say to you?"
The coworker Pearl was talking to—who had been stiffly silent since Grimm approached—quickly excused themself and gave the two their privacy. Grimm took the vacated seat beside Pearl.
She sighed and dug the business card out of her purse and held it out towards him. "He told me to contact him if you misbehaved. Then he proceeded to remind me of how unusual our deal is. Also—why did you ask for all of someone's teeth?"
"They're good for my bonsai."
Pearl's eye twitched. He… he actually used the teeth for something? "Ah yes, how could I not realize something so simple. Bonsai dentures."
He laughed. All the tension he was holding instantly vanished as her sarcastic joke caught him completely off guard. It was a nice change from the very… professional, meeting he just had with the CEO. And from Algoth being cheeky tonight. He gave her a thoughtful look—staring long enough to make Pearl start feeling antsy.
“Should we get back to the event?” she asked.
“Hmm, as you wish.”
They didn’t make it back inside the ballroom.
They were steps away from the door when someone loudly called out, “Oh look. There’s the cheater who bought her way into the Death Heads.”
Pearl froze. There was no doubt that they meant her. She looked at the floor, afraid to meet anyone’s gaze as attention shifted to them. If it had only been that one comment, perhaps her anxiety wouldn’t have gotten the better of her. Unfortunately, they continued ranting.
“Do you know how many times I had to apply before I got an interview for an office job? And you just waltz right past all that!”
Grimm moved himself between Pearl and the other office worker as they walked over. Judging by the stumbling stagger in their walk and the prominent smell of alcohol, they were drunk. Regardless of intoxication, this was unbecoming of a Death Head.
Others began butting in to deescalate the situation. Pearl would appreciate their help later. For now, she focused on not having an anxiety attack. One little thing after another. Cynically, she started to wonder if the Universe was determined to not let her enjoy this night. “I need air,” she said. She didn’t wait for anyone’s acknowledgement before heading outside.
Grimm watched her leave, then sharply turned back to the instigator. He grabbed them by the collar and pulled them in close. “I suggest you go sober up and never be in my presence again."
That comment earned Grimm some looks as he left, following after Pearl. She was pacing with her arms hugged tightly to her chest, her eyes closed, deliberately breathing in through her nose and out her mouth. She heard him approached and stopped.
“How are you?” he asked.
She flashed a shaky smile. “Just fending off some imposter syndrome. No big deal,” she brushed off.
“It is. Things have changed rapidly for you. Even without some drunk asshole making jealous snarks, it’s understandable to second guess yourself.” He walked closer to her and placed his hands on her shoulders. “But you did earn this job on your own. You made that part of the deal, remember? All I did was ensure your resume was seriously considered for job you’re completely qualified for.”
She laughed a little and lowered her head, hiding her smile. How many people got pep talks from such a notorious Death Head? She let his words sink in. Affirmed that he was right. She took one deep breath to clear out all the negativity, then look at Grimm with a genuine smile. “Thanks.”
He nodded, returning his hands to his sides. He glanced over his shoulder at the hotel. “Wanna leave the event?”
“Can we really just leave? I don’t think we’ve even been here for an hour yet.”
Grimm shrugged. “If they get mad at me, then they get mad.”
“Ooo, such a rebel,” she teased.
“I’m not a Faction Leader for nothing, you know.”
A pause lingered between them. “So… Do you just want to call it a night and go home? Or do you want to like, wander around the city?” Pearl asked.
“I’m fine with whatever you wish.”
Well he certainly said that in a way that stirred a little flutter in Pearl. However, she wrote it off as the champagne they had—because why would he be flirty with her?
They decided to go for a walk. Neither knew the area, so they pick random corners to turn at, no true destination in mind. They found a little coffee house having an open mic night. A lush, community garden. But most importantly, a food truck where you could make-your-own fried cheese sticks.
Grimm immediately pulled Pearl over to it the moment he saw it. He had found this food truck a small handful of times before throughout Lywood. They had a fair selection of cheeses that they’d bread and freshly fry. Grimm ordered three dozen of various different cheeses. At first, Pearl was a bit skeptical they’d eat so many. But all it took was one bite and she immediately claimed half of the cheese sticks for herself. Whatever spices were mixed in the breading was perfect; and the breading was the perfect crunchy match for the gooey cheese. She hoped the next time she went out drinking she’d have the fortune of finding this food truck again.
They found a playground nearby and sat on the swings as they ate in peaceful silence. The night had had its ups and down, but in the end, it was turning out well.
And then it started to rain.
At first, it was just a light sprinkle. They sought shelter under a nearby tree. But the rain did not let up. Only increased. They couldn’t stay there much longer. Unfortunately, they had walked pretty far from the hotel; and unless Grimm accepted the future roasting he’d get from calling Algoth by asking him to bring his car to them, they’d have to make a run for it and get soaked.
It was just rain. No big deal.
But Pearl was in a light-weight dress, and was already growing chilled as the rain cooled the once pleasant night. Grimm shrugged off his haori and gave it to her. She was immediately grateful for its warmth. Pulling it closely around herself, they started heading back.
Unfortunately, they hadn’t been keeping the best track of their path. But they laughed about it. Grimm cranked the heat once they finally got to his car. He needed it more than her—Pearl was doing her best not to stare at his completely soaked white, dress shirt. When they arrived at Pearl’s apartment, she lingered in the car, reluctant for the evening to end. Even if they just continued sitting in the car, listening to the rain—that’d be nice. And so she leaned over and kissed him.
Fifteen.
“That doesn’t count, you know?” he said.
Fifteen. Sixteen?
“What? How does that not count?” she defended.
“It’s not daytime.”
“You never specified that rule.”
“The first rule was once per day.”
Were they really going to get into an argument over semantics? Yes. Yes, they were. “Yeah, but you didn’t make it clear that you meant during the daytime. Most people would assume that meant once per calendar day.”
He raised a brow, in both a challenge and in amusement. “Very well,” he smirked. “I’ll count it. This time. But don’t think you can get away with such mischief next time. I’m clarifying now to mean daytime—between sunrise to sunset.”
She blew a raspberry and rolled her eyes. “Oh sure. Change the rules partway through.”
His eyes narrowed at her. “Clarifying, not changing.”
“Hm, yeah no, sure,” she teasingly brushed off. Two months ago, she would not have dreamt of being this playful with a Death-Head, especially not one like Grimm. But she knew him now. Somewhat. She could see the softer sides of him that barely a handful of people got to see.
“Fine then. Day, night—kiss me whenever you’d like.” The small smirk that played on Grimm’s lips made her anxious—but not the negative type of anxious; the eager kind. The kind that made her want to lean forward and kiss him again for no other reason than wanting to.
Fifteen.
Before such emotions could betray her, Pearl hopped out of the car with a quick goodnight called over her shoulder. She suddenly had a lot to think through. Once in her apartment, she leaned again the door, pressing her eyes closed. Her heart was racing. And not just from running up to her apartment. Was she… was she falling for Grimm? No—surely this was just the illusion of infatuation caused by them becoming closer, as friends, mixed with the necessity of having to kiss him.
Right?
She slowly slid down until she was sitting on the floor. Looks like there was still quite a bit to sort out in her life. Not to mention, she just realized she was still wearing his haori.

GRIMM: I can’t come in today. I’m sick
ALGOTH: How did you get sick?
GRIMM: Rain
ALGOTH: You were out in the rain long enough to get so soaked that it made you sick?
Algoth gave his phone an accusatory glare as the minutes added up since Grimm read his last message. He doubted Grimm was sick enough to be unable to respond so soon after initially texting him. Grimm was hiding something. Or, more accurately, not disclosing something so that he wouldn’t be roasted over it.
That meant it likely had something to do with Pearl.
This new relationship his boss had formed with his latest client was… odd. He was curious to see where it would lead. At a glance, they were an unlikely duo. He knew Grimm. He knew him better than almost anyone else. Hopefully, Pearl would keep her wits about her as the two toed the blurry line they established between them.
His peaceful morning’s work was interrupted by a knock at the door. He was surprised to see Pearl. But not surprised by her question.
“Good morning, Algoth.” Her eyes quickly scanned the office. “Is Grimm around?”
“No. He’s not in today. Was there something you needed from him?”
“Oh, no. Not really, I just…” She bit her lip and adjusted her arms behind her back. Her overt nerves got him curious. That was when he noticed the bit of black cloth she was now hiding behind her back. He also caught the sheen of a familiar pattern on the silky fabric.
The puzzle instantly came together.
“He’s home sick today,” he said, cutting off her floundering for an explanation. He returned to his desk and started writing something on a scrap piece of paper. “Since I have to cover both my and his work for the day—you can go deliver his medicine for me.”
“Wha–?”
“The medicine is already paid for; you just need to pick it up from the pharmacy. Here are the addresses—the order is under my name—and codes to get into Grimm’s place.” He handed her the paper. His mischievous expression made Pearl’s ears flatten back a bit. This felt like a damned if she did, damned if she didn’t sort of situations.
“O-okay,” she accepted.
After watching her leave, he shook his head, sat back down at his desk, and shot a text to Grimm.
ALGOTH: Your wife will be stopping by later.
He never got a response—Grimm wouldn’t get around to reading it until late that night—but it amused him all the same.
Pearl stood outside Grimm’s house, staring up at it in awe. She wasn’t surprised that he had such a nice place. Still, the large, finely maintained house loomed as intimidating as the man who lived in it.
Well, best to get this done with—mainly because her shopping bags felt heavier the longer she stood there. Besides the medicine, she bought ingredients for soup. She felt responsible; he had to have gotten sick from being in the rain for so long without a coat. She wouldn’t be surprised if Algoth made the same connection and that’s why he sent her on this task.
“Hello?” she called after unlocking the front door. “Grimm? It’s Pearl. Algoth sent me.” No response came. Tentatively, she went in search of the kitchen. The interior design was impressive. Immaculate. To be able to afford all this… She stopped herself from contemplating the deals he’d done for all of this. “Kitchen,” she quietly reminded herself, getting back on task.
It was immediately to the left of where she stopped to gawk.
After unpacking all the groceries onto the counter, Pearl paused. Did she start cooking first, or find Grimm first? Probably find Grimm. She’d feel more comfortable being there once he knew she was there. He could also help tell her where everything was in the kitchen. She went back into the main room and through the only other doorway. There were a lot of closed doors—which was to be expected, given how large the hose was. “Grimm?” she called again, hoping for a hint about which door he was behind.
But apparently, he was behind her. “What are you doing here?” he groggily asked.
Pearl jumped, letting out a little scream. “Where the hell did you come from?” He lazily motioned over to the kotatsu in the room. On the side opposite the foyer, a was a pillow. He’d been there the entire time; she just hadn’t seen him. “Oh… Well, Algoth sent me to bring you medicine.”
He yawned and scratched the back of his head. “Ugh. Please tell me he didn’t get something grape flavored. He always picks out the worst flavored medicine.”
“I think it’s cherry.”
Grimm gave her a curious look. “So. Where is it?”
“Oh, still in the kitchen. You should take it with food, so I was going to make you some soup.”
If Grimm hadn’t been so sleepy still, perhaps Pearl would’ve been able to notice the intrigue that sparked in his expression. “You’re making me soup?”
“Well yeah,” she said and shrugged. “You caught a cold because of me; it’s the least I can do to make up for it.”
“You didn’t give me a cold.”
“Maybe not directly. But since I wore your haori yesterday, you got soaked in the rain and caught a cold.”
“Yes. My decision caused this outcome.”
She pouted a bit at him, narrowing her eyes slightly. “You must really be sick, you’re starting to sound delirious,” she sassed, turned away, and walked back into the kitchen before he could respond.
He chuckled to himself then followed her.
When she told him she was making soup, he didn’t process that to mean ‘from scratch’. So seeing all the groceries she had set out surprised him. He stared dumbfounded at her.
She stared awkwardly back. “Sooo… Where is all your cookware? I’d like to start cooking, and while I could just open every cabinet and drawer until I find the things I need, it’d be easier for you to just tell me.”
“Hm? Ah, right.” He shook himself from his stupor, and started helping her.
But then he started to help her too much. “Go curl up under the kotatsu again,” Pearl gently ordered as she started to guide him over to the door. “I’ll bring you some soup when it’s done.”
“You sure you don’t want help?”
“I just watched you nearly cut off your own finger. Twice. So go rest and stop trying to add your blood to my soup.”
He obeyed.
Pearl turned on music on her phone and continued cooking. She was enjoying working in Grimm’s large kitchen with all its high-end appliances. Much better than her apartment’s kitchenette. About half an hour later, the soup was ready. She portioned out a serving, buttered a few slices of bread.
Pearl gently shook Grimm awake. “Food is ready.”
He stretched, then slowly sat up. As the smell of the soup hit him, he snapped fully awake. “This smells absolutely delicious.”
She blushed a little in pride. “Thank you. I hope you enjoy. Do you want me to put all the leftovers away now? Or I can leave out a second serving if you’d like.”
“You’re not eating?”
“Oh. Well… no,” she said awkwardly. “Algoth didn’t really say I had the whole day off, so I was gonna go back to work now.”
“Stay.”
Pearl froze. The soft way he said it plucked the heartstrings that had shaken her the night before. Granted, it came out that way absolutely because he was low energy from illness. Still…
Then he added, “You’ve come all this way, and did all this work—relax and eat with me.” When she bit her lip, still hesitating, he continued. “As the Head of the North Faction I can and will order you to take the day off work.”
Something about him pulling rank while he was such a miserable, sickly slump made her want to laugh. And so she conceded. She got herself a bowl of soup and joined him under the kotatsu—damn it was cozy; no wonder he kept passing out.
When they’re done eating, Pearl cleaned up. Grimm made some protest, saying he should be doing all the chores since she was his guest; but she argued back that he’s sick and threatened him to rest.
As she got ready to leave, she noticed his haori she left in the entryway. She traced along the fabric. Picking it up, she returned to the other room and set it beside the once again sleeping Grimm.
She lingered.
There was such a softness to him. And she was probably one of the few who saw this side of him. Unconsciously, her hand moved to brush his hair. But she stopped short, noticing just in time what she was doing.
“Fuck,” she whispered under her breath. She immediately stood up and left the house.
There was no way to deny it anymore.
She had feelings for Grimm.

New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day was made as an excuse to drink copious amounts of alcohol and to gorge oneself on different foods. The holiday may not call for a feast like Thanksgiving or Christmas but there were trays and trays of tiny appetizers, usually some sort of thinly sliced meat on a light cracker or simple fruits in a bowl with toothpicks off to the side to spear them and lift them into a guests mouth. Jordan hadn’t celebrated New Year’s like that ever, really. Most years, she’d simply just put on the New York celebration on the TV while having some leftovers from Christmas as she watched–not attentive but just enough to notice when the ten seconds to midnight countdown started. Even when she lived with her parents, it was a similar routine. They didn’t have a party or guests over. Only the light buzz of noise that came from the television while her father had some sort of mixed drink and her mother retreated to her room around eleven. Her brothers were out so it would only be Jordan who was still awake by midnight, her father only slightly opening his eyes to see the ball drop. It wasn’t special but it wasn’t something Jordan desperately wanted to change either. There were far more important things she wanted to change about her family, their stance on certain legislation about queer people like her, things like that. Years of being out and they still didn’t fully accept her. She had her friends for that.
Jordan’s friends had left for the year, saying their goodbyes before they went home. They wanted to celebrate the New Year in their own homes and she couldn’t blame them, she didn’t do anything special for the holiday. But as the day came closer, she got an invitation to go to a party from Hugh. Jordan knew she wouldn’t be much fun at a party like that and tried to deny him but he kept asking and pleading since he wanted some of his friends to meet her.
“Come on, darling! I swear they don’t believe you even exist sometimes. They have to meet you!” Hugh exclaimed. He’d called her while she was in the middle of editing a video to be released later that day.
Jordan shook her head, clicking a few things with her mouse. “Hugh, I don’t think it’ll be fun for me. I barely go to movie premieres when asked.” Jordan never liked admitting she was famous, especially not to other famous people who worked much harder than she did. They weren’t able to make their schedule like she did.
“Darling, it isn’t a movie premiere. There won’t be any famous people there.” Hugh responded with a light sigh. He might have been lying a little…. There would be one famous person there besides himself. “Plus, you learned how to be around me. Wouldn’t it be a similar process if there happened to be someone famous there?” He joked softly. He’d desperately wanted his friends to meet the girl who lit up his world as brightly as the sun.
Jordan pursed her lips, taking her hand away from her mouse. The video was finished after four straight hours of editing. “That’s…. Different. I fell in love with you.” She admitted softly as she fiddled with the necklace that laid on her chest. Hugh was trying to flirt with her after all. She began to realize that, even when they first met during the Christmas tree lighting.
“Can’t have that with anyone else.” Hugh hummed and Jordan could hear the smile in his voice. He was smug. He knew he had an amazing partner and would rather die than give that up. Hugh wanted to boast to his friends as much as she would let him.
Jordan rolled her eyes, twirling slightly in her chair. “Mhm. You have my heart, Hugh Dancy. Only you could force me to go to a party.” She finally gave in. She knew she didn’t stand a chance either way, Hugh could be quite convincing when he tried to be.
“Great! God, have I mentioned I love you, darling? So much.” Hugh said excitedly, feeling the urge to kiss her. Unfortunately, they were only on a call and he couldn’t kiss her through the phone.
Jordan laughed quietly as she adjusted her glasses. They always seemed to slip off her nose. Must be her naturally oily skin. “Only about a hundred times.” She smiled, moving her video file over to YouTube so she could upload it.
The video just so happened to be her ranking Hugh Dancy characters. None of her fans knew of their relationship and Jordan didn’t reveal it in the video. It was made more as a joke, one that only she was in on. And her roommate. And Hugh himself but she doubted he watched any of her videos.
“Then I’ll say it a hundred more.” Hugh responded, his happiness evident in his voice. Jordan didn’t even have to see his face. She could clearly imagine his bright smile and the glimmer of happiness in his eyes.
That was how Jordan was dragged to a New Year’s party for the first time in her entire life. Sure, people had offered but none were successful in convincing her to come. When she told Elle the news, she was ecstatic and insisted she needed to wear the infamous little black dress that dominated simple fashion since the 50s. Jordan didn’t have a little black dress, a black dress, or any dresses for that matter. Half of her formal clothes were suits or rompers that could be paired with a blazer to dress it up. Dresses just never felt right to her, even as a little girl.
But Elle was adamant that Jordan needed one. “It goes with anything!” Was what she’d said. So there they were, at the entrance of the mall to find something for Jordan to wear. The mall was big and there weren't many people there since it was a weekday so it was easy for the two to disappear if they felt like it. Elle wasn’t the most famous person on the planet but she wasn’t a D-Lister either. Neither was Jordan. In public, they could be stopped a hundred times if they accepted everyone that came their way. They both tried to at least say hi to them if someone walked up to them but they also had their own things to do which Jordan did feel guilty for sometimes.
The pair stopped when Elle spotted a few nice dresses through a shop window. She pulled Jordan inside so they could sift through some of the clothes. She knew Jordan didn’t like anything too revealing when it was winter, so anything with a big slit or deep chestline was out of the question. A few minutes into their search, Jordan finally found something she liked and pulled it out for Elle to look at.
It was a knee-length black turtleneck sweater dress with a hole on the back that seemed to stop right above where one’s tailbone would start. It wasn’t conventional for what Jordan liked to wear during the winter, usually warmth was her biggest priority but she knew she’d wear a heavy jacket anyway.
Elle pursed her lips as she looked at it. It didn’t look bad. In fact, it looked very nicely made and she knew it would fit Jordan perfectly. “You should try it on. Make sure you like it.” She suggested.
Jordan pursed her lips, nodding as she walked into one of the dressing rooms to change. One thing she absolutely hated about dressing rooms when trying on dresses is that she had to completely undress down to her underwear to put it on. If she didn’t then everything would just look weird. No one wore a dress over jeans. It would look horrible if they did, people already tried that in the early 2000s. There’s a reason that didn’t come back.
Cracking the door open, Jordan stepped outside the room to show Elle how she looked. The dress fit her just right, tight in the best places while still giving her enough room to move in whatever way she’d like and it wasn’t too tight around her neck. Paired with some fishnets or some other tights, she knew it would be taken to a  new level and look even better. It was the one. She just needed confirmation from her friend.
“If Hugh doesn’t kiss you on the spot, I will. That man is…. Very in love with you, though, so I don’t expect him not to.” Elle said as soon as she saw Jordan. “You look great. We’re getting that one.” She smiled brightly.
—-------
Being outside Hugh’s home wasn’t unusual to Jordan at this point. She’d visited him almost every day, making some sort of excuse that she was in the neighborhood but they both knew the truth yet neither wanted to admit it. What was unusual was the fact that there were other people in the house with them. It was just them whenever she visited him. Now, she had her friend by her side but Hugh’s friends greatly outnumber the two of them. It was intimidating. Jordan hadn’t met anyone on Hugh’s side. Was this what he felt when meeting her friends for the first time? Probably not. Hugh had a special air about him that could make absolutely anyone like him. It was most likely a mix of the fact that he had a British accent and his ice blue eyes, they could convince anyone to do anything if he tried.
It was around ten PM when Elle pressed on the doorbell and she realized Jordan was too frozen in thought to do anything. She nudged her so she was present in the moment before the door could open and they’d eventually be tossed around to talk with different groups of people. Elle was slightly more used to taking a lap and mingling with others since she had to do so for press junkets and interviews.
As the door opened, it revealed Hugh in a nice looking suit. It was a deep green but the white button up that was tucked into the green slacks didn’t have a tie. Hugh decided to leave the first few buttons open, not opting for a tie to match with his suit. His hair was relatively the same as usual, deep brown curls with a hint of gray at his temples. Though, it looked as if Hugh tried to slick it back. It didn’t stay. He looked handsome and it was very apparent what Jordan thought when she looked up to see him. Her mouth dropped open slightly and her eyes dilated which Elle couldn’t help but chuckle at. It was cute, seeing her so in love.
“Hello to you too, darling.” Hugh greeted, a teasing tone in his voice as he ushered the two women inside. He pressed a quick kiss to Jordan’s lips. He couldn’t take his eyes off her either.
Jordan wore that sweater dress and a pair of black fishnets tucked into a pair of shin-high knitted socks that disappeared underneath some platform boots. She was even taller than usual and Hugh couldn’t complain. Her height was one of her most attractive qualities and he wasn’t intimidated by it while some other men were. He didn’t find it necessary to be taller than his partner like some other men did. Her makeup was kept simple, winged eyeliner with a silver shimmery eyeshadow in the corner of her eye and her lips were painted in a deep cherry red. And he thought the bright red made her lips look more enticing.
Jordan finally caught her breath as she took off the leather jacket that covered her. She bit her lip slightly as she caught another look at Hugh. He was a welcome distraction from the voices in the other room. “Hi.” She said warmly.
Elle rubbed Jordan’s shoulder, giving her a smile. “I’m gonna go talk to some people. I think I see someone I know.” She said softly. “You gonna be okay together?” She asked. Elle was a very thoughtful person, almost like a mother when she wanted to be. She asked a lot of questions. Mainly about if someone was okay in a million different ways.
“I’ll be fine.” Jordan reassured with a light smile before Elle left her side. It wouldn’t be the last time she saw her that night, thank God. She was scared she was going to lose her for a little while. As some movement flashed in front of them, Jordan slapped her hand on her face. Hugh said there wouldn’t be other famous people there but she knew she should have expected different. Taking a deep breath, Jordan shook her head. “Fuck, nevermind. Mads Mikkelsen is here….”
Hugh had the audacity to laugh in response. “Oh come on, darling. He really doesn’t bite.” He tried to reassure her, setting a hand on her back. He’d known Mads for a while and they didn’t hang out as much as they used to but they liked to have each other over for certain occasions.
“I doubt that.” Jordan narrowed her eyes at Hugh, stealing a glance at Mads while he was distracted by talking with some woman in a cocktail dress that she didn’t recognize at all. That was good, at least.
Hugh shrugged with an amused glint in his eyes, “Well, can’t blame me for trying.” They both knew better. He took her hand and pulled her with him when that woman talking with Mads decided to talk with someone else. “I’m sure you wouldn’t mind meeting him since he was the first to catch your attention.” He teased.
“I wouldn’t say that.” Jordan breathed, a nervous look in her eyes. She could barely talk with Hugh when they first met, each conversation was initiated by him and Elle was the one to give them their “chance meetings.” That coffee shop, she learned, was carefully orchestrated by her friend.
Walking up to Mads Mikkelsen felt like a fever dream. He dressed similarly to Hugh except his suit was jet-black, creating an aura of elegance around him. Well, Jordan had seen bloopers that would combat that. People were contradictory and Mads wasn’t an exception. But the intimidating nature of how he dressed and how he held himself in a room full of people, some of which he probably didn’t know either, was stunning to witness. The man’s hair was its natural light gray color, signifying his age but it added to his charm and made him all the more handsome.
“Mads, this is my lovely girlfriend, Jordan Criss.” Hugh smiled, eyes flicking from her face to Mads’ as he introduced her to him. Jordan gave the older man a thin smile, nerves starting to get to her.
There was a glint of pride in his eyes with each word that left his lips. Jordan had barely seen a pride like his, even from her parents. This type of pride was easy and unconditional. It would last through anything. She could tell it would. Like how an elm tree stood tall while the elements tried to tear it down, never quite succeeding. It was immovable and strong. Sure, the rain and lightning could split some branches in half but they’d never tear the tree itself apart.
Mads turned to the pair and gave Jordan a polite smile. “It’s nice to finally meet you. Hugh has painted a very vivid picture about you. You certainly did not disappoint.” He hummed, glancing up at Hugh for a moment. He’d talked about her constantly. Mads didn’t mind though, it was fun to hear about the girl who stole his friend’s heart.
“Oh, uh, nice to meet you too.” Jordan’s face was flushed with nervousness. Usually, if she was forced to meet someone, she could put on her customer service mask and act as if she was more extroverted than she actually was. Didn’t work this time. At least, not as automatic as a light switch. Jordan had watched movies with Mads Mikkelsen, unintentionally, since she was a child. Casino Royale was her first exposure and ever since then she’d started to notice him in other movies. It was rare when she’d meet someone like that. Someone so ingrained in her childhood that she didn’t realize it until meeting them. She shook her head slightly after all those thoughts rushed to her head, “Sorry.”
Mads, being the understanding man he was, offered Jordan a light smile. “It’s alright.” Maybe it was some trait all celebrities shared but he could easily tell when someone recognized him and some sort of internal conflict inside them if they should act like they did.
“Jordan told me once that her favorite film of yours happened to be Casino Royale.” Oh fucking god. “But she also admitted that she used to have a crush on Daniel Craig when she was younger.” Hugh teased softly, trying to keep the conversation going. He thought it would be best if Jordan got to know one other person at the party and who better a candidate than Mads?
Mads shrugged, a grin spreading across his lips while Jordan averted her gaze. She tried to look at anything else than the two men on either side of her. “Who wouldn’t? It’s Daniel Craig.” He teased softly.
“I was also like ten and didn’t understand what bisexuality was because I liked Vesper too.” Jordan sighed out with a shrug as she tilted her head to the side for a moment as she finally looked Mads in the eye for the first time.
From afar, looking straight into his eyes seemed intimidating. They were dark and the curve of his brow was sharp. Some had described his eyes as a deep maroon color and Jordan almost agreed with them but looking at his eyes up close was a totally different world. Mads’ eyes were dark but looked to be a more chocolatey color, making them more friendly than the aforementioned maroon color. That color seemed to be more dominating in Jordan’s mind.
Mads nudged Jordan with a sly look in his eyes while Hugh let out a soft laugh. It was the type of laugh that caused his eyebrows to furrow slightly as his eyes twinkled happily. Jordan liked it.
“You’re funny.” Mads hummed softly. It wasn’t really a joke, he knew that but the way Jordan said it was what made it funny. “I hope I’ll see you again if Hugh doesn’t keep you to himself for forever.” He narrowed his eyes at the man in question while a smirk made its way to his lips, deceiving his want to act like a scolding father.
Hugh rolled his eyes, pulling Jordan closer to him in a slightly protective way. He knew Mads wouldn’t try anything. After all, he was happily married to his wife but the empty threat of wanting to see Jordan again made him react subconsciously. “You will, Mads. Maybe at the next party.” He smiled, gently squeezing at Jordan’s hip.
Dazed at the touch, Jordan simply nodded. She didn’t catch much of the words exchanged afterwards. Next party? She never agreed to that. Not that she wouldn’t but…. Huh? Jordan somewhat expected the party to feel like a fever dream but not to the extent she was feeling then. She’d just met and talked with Mads Mikkelsen who she then almost immediately told that she was bisexual and then he’d said he wanted to see her again. How fucking lucky was she? Most fans of his would pay hundreds of dollars just to see him in person and Jordan got it for free with a promise to see him again.
Yeah, definitely a fever dream.
—------
The rest of the party went alright. Jordan had her awkward moments but was quickly picked back up again by Hugh or Elle. There was rarely a moment when they left her side besides when she needed to go to the bathroom. She slowly eased into being social, gaining more confidence as the night went on to start a conversation instead of letting Hugh or any of his guests initiating it. It was surprising but delightful to see Jordan open up. She didn’t speak much about her personal life, specifically her job since she didn’t think they would understand. Most of Hugh’s guests were of similar age to him. Elle and Jordan seemed to be the only ones their age at the party so she knew it’d be a bit difficult to describe what she did for a living to them so she tried to avoid the question as much as possible. She was mostly successful, the question sneaking in here and there.
As the countdown for the New Year started, Jordan made her way to the backyard. Snow crunched underneath her boots as she stepped away from the door and sat on the steps. It wasn’t snowing and she was thankful for that but it was cold enough that the snow from a few days ago stuck and was made icier from the cold. But Jordan needed the cold, everything was starting to get to her and the nip of the night air was just what she needed to feel like herself again.
A few moments later, Jordan could hear the door opened and closed behind her. It didn’t surprise her when Hugh appeared next to her, gently setting his blazer over her shoulders. The blazer was a bit short on her because of her height but loose around her shoulders and arms. She caught a light whiff of his cologne, something citrusy with a hint of pine and some other scent that was undeniably Hugh. It made her smile as she looked off into the night sky. Coincidentally, the moon that night was full and Hugh lived far enough away from the city that the stars shined brightly. They weren’t blocked by the smog that hovered above the city skyline.
Ten!
“Shouldn’t you be inside? You know, talking with your friends?” Jordan asked as Hugh lit up a cigarette. Smoking wasn’t necessarily something she hated with a passion, people could do whatever they wanted to their own bodies, but she had never found it attractive until she’d met him. Though, Jordan knew she shouldn’t be surprised. A lot of Europeans smoked, Mads included.
Nine!
Hugh took a long drag from the cigarette, exhaling the smoke from between his lips as his eyes scanned Jordan’s face. He gave her a light smile as he confessed, “Much like you, I needed a break, darling. Seeing you outside happened to be the best excuse to step out for a moment.”
Eight!
Jordan hummed in response. She wasn’t sure she needed to say anything, just thankful for Hugh’s company. It was nice. To not need to speak, she’d been doing it all night and it seemed he was tired of it too. She leaned into Hugh’s side, careful to angle her face a certain way as to not let any of the smoke get in her face.
Seven!
Wrapping an arm around Jordan’s waist, Hugh let his arm holding the cigarette drop for a moment so he could focus on holding her instead. Plus, he sort of liked the light stinging sensation of letting the cigarette burn in between his fingertips. He pressed a soft kiss to her cheek, causing Jordan to smile and cuddle closer to his side. For warmth only, of course.
Six!
“I feel like it’s been forever since we’ve been alone. Together.” Jordan huffed in a laugh, seeing her warm breath steam in the cold night air until it disappeared. She didn’t blame Hugh for it. She couldn’t. But she couldn’t lie and say she didn’t want just the two of them to be alone for a while.
The world was a wonder to behold and it was a shame she got so used to seeing marvelous things. Like snow. It was made up of tiny little crystalized pieces of ice that formed together to make snowflakes. The flakes themselves were bigger and when bunched together…. Looked like a lump of white, twinkling in the sun.
Five!
Hugh hummed as he put his cigarette between his lips, taking his last drag as he flicked it into the snow by his feet and stomped on it to quickly put it out. “I feel the same way.” He breathed, some of the smoke released through his lips as he talked. “Maybe next time we see each other, it shouldn’t be during a party with lots of people around.” Hugh chuckled softly as he brushed a few out of place hairs away from Jordan’s face.
Four!
“Couldn’t agree more.” Jordan laughed softly as she looked at Hugh with a light smile.
She could finally fully take in his face for the first time that night. She had to admit, he looked alluring in the moonlight and the faint white light coming from behind them through the glass doors. His blue eyes shined as he stared into hers and the light wrinkles around his eyes and near his brows were brought together to make him all the more attractive. Those grays too. They weren’t overpowering, not really showing his age. The grays were only dusting on Hugh’s temples, some scattered across his beard. One would probably guess he was in his late thirties rather than the reality that he was in his late forties. They might even be surprised to learn his real age.
Three!
Hugh’s lips formed into a thin smirk, not good at hiding the obvious amusement in his eyes. Maybe it was just her but you would think that an actor who’s played as many characters as he did would be much harder to read. That he’d be an enigma of some sort. Not quite. Hugh had his moments. Moments of purposefully concealing himself if he needed to. Never usually around Jordan though. She’d appreciated it. She believed it would be incredibly easy for him to suddenly push all those emotions in his eyes away.
Two!
It’s been a while since their last kiss, Jordan realized. When they were alone together, kisses were a constant thing throughout their dates. But Jordan did leave Hugh a few times. Mostly to grab some food on a small plate. She was sure Hugh bought most of the snacks, unsure if he could make any from scratch. She probably would have helped if he asked. Though, Jordan could tell that Hugh felt embarrassed when asking for help. Not because she emasculated him or anything of the sort but he probably felt as if it should come easy to him.
Cooking was like an art. One would have to practice before they started to be decent at it, similar to painting or singing. Some did have a natural talent but practicing helped to hone in on their skills. You couldn’t get better at it until you did.
One!
As soon as the words left those inside the houses’ mouth, the pair outside practically surged into each other. The kiss started out sweet and light and Hugh’s lips were familiar. That same taste as always. Except this time, Jordan could taste and almost smell the champagne he’d had earlier on his lips. She didn’t hate it. It shocked her. Alcohol wasn’t something Jordan liked whether it was inadvertently or on purpose. Perhaps it was the fact that it was on Hugh’s lips, a taste she quite liked without the alcohol but it made it more bearable. In fact, it made Jordan crave his lips even more. She carefully set her hand on the back of Hugh’s neck to keep his head in place, not letting up until she had a feeling he needed to breathe.
He rested his head against Jordan’s when their lips parted, a smirk starting to grow. “I love you.” Hugh whispered as he lifted a hand to gently run along the sharp jaw that belonged to Jordan. “Especially when you kiss me like that. Like you’d love to mark me as yours. I’d let you.” He admitted, eyes darkened and hooded as he watched Jordan’s face.
She swallowed thickly, her lips a light shade of red from their previous kiss while her eyes were darkened similarly to how Hugh’s were. “You would?” Jordan asked, her voice breathy and nervous. She was thankful that the redness of her cheeks and nose were somewhat concealed by the cold.
“Mhm.” Hugh hummed, diving in for another kiss.
Making new resolutions a hundred times indeed. Some of them are not so nice to share with others, even close friends. Jordan knew for sure that she wouldn’t share hers with Elle.

✎﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏
The young female looked at the male in front of her in an appalled manner.
"Umm.....what?" She could not believe the words that just came out of his mouth.
Her boyfriend however didn't seem bothered by her reaction nor did the overly enthusiastic smile on his face brush off.
"How do you feel about helping me make a sex tape?" He repeated his previous request.
The girl raised an eyebrow at him, wondering if perhaps he was still drunk from the previous night in which he and some of the other members decided to act like dumb teens and got wasted in their dorm, resulting in him drunk calling his girlfriend and her coming over to help out the oldest and the tallest member control the other 6 men who were going berserk.
"When did you even get an idea like that?" She questioned him.
"Last night actually."
She threw her hands up and huffed.
"That's it. I'm not letting you anywhere near any alchohol for the next year." She swore to herself.
"Awww Y/N, baby, come on, don't be like that. Hear me out."
Taking one of her arms, he pressed her body against his, both of them still warm given it hadn't been long since they got out of the comfort of the bed. With one hand caressing her lower back and the other running itself through her hair, Hongjoong began to lazily press kiss across her jaw, knowing fully well it was a weakness to get her to give in.
"Think about how pretty you'll look. I'll edit it so you look even more beautiful. It'll be like one of those romantic adult films we watch together, and I know for a fact you like watching the explicit scenes."
Y/N let out a soft and shy giggle at being called out like that. She had often wondered, even out loud, how actors could actually go forth with such erotic scenes. She had to admit she admired their courage for doing them so effortlessly.
"Are you sure it's not something you wanna film to take with you whenever you're oversea? Watch a replay of you fucking me dumb?"
Now it was Hongjoong's turn to blush red. Y/N noticed how he swallowed hard, meaning there was something else.
"Hongjoong..... you were suggesting that you film us having sex...right?"
Hongjoong's eyes began to waver nervously.
"Well um...I was actually thinking more along the lines of....... someone else.....fucking you.." He stammered the last parts out.
"Are you serious?!" Y/N pushed him off her in a horrified manner, her hands fanning her face as she felt herself getting hot all of a sudden.
"Come on. You're acting like it's illegal or something. No one else besides us, and I guess the third person, will know about it." He tried to convince her.
"It's not illegal but it is insane. Who did you even think would agree to something like this?" She crossed her arms, waiting to hear what brilliant idea he came up with.
"I was hoping one of the guys would be a willing-"
"No way! That'd be even more embarrassing! It already gets awkward whenever one of them accidentally walks around with no shirt on around me, how could I possibly look at them in the face after we fuck?"
Not willing to listen to her crazy boyfriend, Y/N picked up her bag and reminded him to drink lots of water before sauntering out of his room, waving goodbye to Seonghwa who was in the kitchen and leaving before Hongjoong made things more embarrassing for her. Slumping down on the kitchen table, Hongjoong had a huge pout on his face.
"Lover's quarrels?" His same age friend asked as he began rinsing the dishes.
"Something like that." Hongjoong sighed.
"Whatever it is, I'm sure you two will figure it out. One of you ends up giving in sooner or later." He assured him.
Seonghwa was indeed right. Even if either one of you said no at first, you'd always, always, end up giving in just to try something new. That thought made Hongjoong lighten up and he began to think more about how to put his plan in motion. Firstly, he needed to pick one of the members who not only would be comfortable doing something like that, but would match the needed sex appeal.
"Jongho is out of the question. He's never even dated anyone." Hongjoong began thinking, evaluating in his head all his possible candidates.
"Mingi isn't a good choice either, he already has a lot to deal with so I'm not even going to bother with him."
Hongjoong then thought about Yeosang. He was good looking, but the problem was Yeosang was extremely reserved, not to mention he and Y/N weren't very close to each other. It would be bad chemistry. And his roommate and best friend Wooyoung was a strict no.
"I already know that little brat has a little crush on my girlfriend. If anything letting him fuck her would be like giving a little kid a candy shop all to themselves. I need someone who has absolutely no romantic inclinations so afterwards everything can go back to normal."
Turning his head, Hongjoong scanned Seonghwa up and down. He seemed like a possible choice. He was tall, very handsome, he and Y/N got along very well, in fact he was the one closest to her besides him. He knew for a fact Seonghwa was not innocent or pure in the slightest bit. And he'd be very professional about it. It seemed there was no question about Seonghwa being the best candidate.
"Wait! But they're close. What if this plan backfires and I accidentally ruin their friendship?"
Hongjoong groaned as he realized this was proving to be a lot harder than he thought. His mind then thought about Yunho. Yunho would be perfect in the more erotic sense given his size. He was tall, lean but well built and with defined muscles. And it'd be pretty interesting to watch and see if his girlfriend would be able to take a monster cock like that cause Yunho was definitely packing a lot.
Getting up, Hongjoong seemed decided as he walked down the hallway to have a little chat with his favorite donsaeng. Just before he could knock on the door to his room, it actually opened by itself, or more like, someone else came out right at that moment. It was none other than San, whose recently dyed blonde hair was messy. His skin had somewhat of a glow to it even if he was suffering from a major hangover. He was completely shirtless, his honey abs looking amazing as usual. The sweatpants he was wearing were hanging low on him, the V line near his pelvis poking out. And to top off the visual, his nipples were sticking out due to the piercings that he had recently gotten, a naughty secret that he had kept well hidden for a while til Wooyoung ratted him out. Hongjoong had never actually seen them, but now that he did, a light bulb went off in his head.
"Hyung.....my head is killing me." San groaned loudly, one arm weakly holding him steady against the doorframe.
That tiny sound that came out of the younger male's mouth sealed the deal for Hongjoong. San was absolutely perfect.
"Sannie....... when you're feeling better, Hyung wants to talk to you about something."
✎﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏
"You're looking especially lovely tonight my dear." Hongjoong looked at his girlfriend who was sitting patiently on her bed, wearing a cute off white two piece lingerie set.
"You always say things like that whenever I'm going to suck your dick." She pointed out, although it wasn't meant to be ill intended.
Hongjoong simply continued to have that suspicious smirk plastered on as he finished setting up the last camera, having placed several ones on different parts of the room to capture different angles of the scene that was about to take place in those 4 walls. On a small stand, he had already installed his laptop so he could monitor more closely all the shots being taken and to start or pause anything if needed. Glancing at the time, he knew it was only a matter of time before their guest arrived.
"You're taking awfully long for someone who was aching to get their dick wet." She snorted, wondering how on earth could Hongjoong be so calm and collected.
Hearing a knock on the door, Y/N raised an eyebrow as she was not expecting anyone, but it seemed Hongjoong wasn't fazed at all. He actually sprinted out of his seat in lighting speed to open the door.
"Yeah but it's not my dick that's getting wet." He sent her a wink.
Before she could even ask him what he meant, San was already being dragged inside the room. He too looked puzzled when he saw his older friend's girlfriend on the bed wearing something so daring.
"Wow! Ok! I take it I got here too early?" San asked as he covered up his face with his hands.
"No San, you're not early. You're right on time actually."
Slumping an arm around him, Hongjoong pulled him into the center of the room.
"He's the one getting his dick wet."
Once she realized what was happening, Y/N grabbed a pillow and chucked it at her scheming boyfriend.
"Kim Hongjoong! You liar! You told me that we were going to be filming a sex tape between ourselves!" She exclaimed.
"A what?!" A confused San shouted, now more embarrased than ever.
"I knew that if I told you both what I really wanted you here for neither of you would agree and would probably think I'm weird or something." Hongjoong tried to explain himself.
"Oh I don't think, I know you're weird, wanting one of your members and your girlfriend to fuck each other just so you could make a porn out of it."
San reddened furiously at her words, eyes looking everywhere but at Hongjoong or Y/N. By now he had already opted for just staying quiet as he listened to the couple banter back and forth amongst themselves.
"What made you think San, out of all people, would want to even touch me?"
That caught said man's attention.
"Wait, hold on. What's that supposed to mean?" He squinted at her, eyes narrowing into slits. Y/N could feel the immediate change in his demeanor.
"Well you know just that.....it's you we're talking about San. Do you know how many girls thirst over you? Why would you even bother looking at someone like me when you look like that?" She gestured at his body and face, trying to get her point across.
San felt somewhat offended by her statement. She made it out to be like he was superficial or that he only cared about looks. Moreover, he didn't like hearing her talk about herself in that way. Brushing past his Hyung, San came to stand in front Y/N, eyes peering down at her. Feeling the intensity of his stare bear down on her, especially given her state of near undress contrasting his full dressed self made her feel self conscious. When she tried to cross her arms to cover herself, San was having none of that as he suddenly gripped her wrists and held them in front of her face.
"And do you have any idea how many of us have checked you out even though we know that you belong to Hongjoong? Do you think some of us didn't feel bad when we found out he decided to take you for himself?"
His admittance not only shocked her but her boyfriend behind them, who had thought only one member had been disappointed when they announced that they were dating. Noticing her shocked expression, San leaned in and smiled at her innocently.
"Don't worry too much about me though, I was mostly disappointed at the fact that I might never get a chance to tap that cute ass of yours." He expressed with no hint of shame whatsoever. San drew his gaze down to fully look at her, admire her silhouette for the first time ever since he walked in the room.
"But now that I know Hyung wants someone to fuck his girlfriend...well.... it'd be my pleasure." He let out a low chuckle before pulling her against him, hands caressing the sides of her torso. Taking one of her hands, he brought it up to his face to place kisses on her palm. Turning to the man that was forgotten for a minute, San raised an eyebrow.
"Tell me right now if there's anything you definitely don't want me to do, otherwise I'm going to have my way with her as I like."
Hongjoong thought about it for a second, wondering if there was something he did not want.
"You're absolutely not allowed to leave hickeys on her. I don't mind you leaving red hand prints or even cumming inside her since that can be cleaned up or will fade in a coupe's hours."
Moving back to go sit on the chair next to the laptop, Hongjoong leaned back and stared at San with a warning glare.
"But I want absolutely nothing that will last for days. That's only for me to do."
San scoffed at how silly Hongjoong sounded, but nodded nonetheless. Meanwhile Y/N looked back and forth at their exchange with fascination. It was arousing hearing them talk about her as if she was nothing more than a mere sex object, and she was loving it.
"Oh and San? Remember I'm going to film this. Try to make it as interested as possible. I mean... if you can that is." Hongjoong smiled slyly, sending challenge to the younger member.
"Oh trust me. I'll fuck her like she's famous." San bragged.
Y/N watched as San began pulling his shirt over his head. Raking her eyes over his arms, abs and chest, they widened considerably when they saw the metal piercings on his nipples. One hand actually came to clasp around her open mouth, she was that surprised.
"Remember I told you not to baby him too much cause he's not actually a baby?" Hongjoong snickered at her reaction, actually finding it funny.
"Hey if it diverts attention from you, I don't care."
Pushing her back until they were right next to the bed, San cupped her face and leaned in, lips nearly kissing hers.
"Are you all right with this?" He wanted to get her consent before anything else.
Letting out a hum, Y/N wrapped her hands on the base of his neck.
"Fuck me like I'm famous." She repeated what he said before.
"Ok."
As soon as their bodies and mouths connected, Hongjoong's finger pressed record so as to not miss anything. Sitting back, he decided to enjoy the show, a satisfied smile on his face after seeing that everything had gone according to plan. Their lips molded perfectly against each other's, their makeout session rivaling those of some of the biggest and steamy ones they'd see on tv. Tracing the outline of his lips with her tongue, Y/N successfully managed to get San to allow her access into his mouth. Her tongue settled against his and vice versa, muffled humming adding to the intensity of their kiss. San couldn't keep his hands off her lower back, eventually placing them right on her ass. Hongjoong inwardly patted himself on the back as he had deduced before that San was more of an ass man and now he was getting confirmation of it as he watched his hands cup and harshly squeeze his girlfriend's cheeks.
Not wanting only him to have his fun, Y/N thought it would be a good idea to test just how sensitive his nipples were. Sliding a hand up his torso, it pressed itself onto one of his pecs. She grinned when San emitted a whimper in her mouth when she pinched on his nipple, making sure to twist some of the piercing around.
"Oh my-" San groaned when her mouth detached itself from his in order to give attention to his nipples. He was whining and whimpering each time her tongue flicked around his buds and letting out choked gasps when her teeth would softly tug at them.
"Enjoying your new toy?" Hongjoong piped up, reminding them both that they were being watched.
"Just as much as you're enjoying me wreck your girl." San spat back at him, hissing when he suddenly felt Y/N sucked onto one of his nipples.
"Please. I've barely seen any action yet."
Hearing his taunting words, San pushed Y/N onto her knees, bringing her face close to the tent in his pants. Tilting her chin up, he rubbed his thumb across her bottom lip.
"You have really pretty lips. All plump and pink.... I wonder how they'll look like if they're red, swollen and stuffed with my cock."
Making a quick work of his zipper, San pulled his jeans down along with his underwear, letting out his cock that was thick and well above average in length. Y/N licked her lips when she saw that the tip was glistening with precum that had dripped out when it was freed from its confinement. San was definitely bigger than Hongjoong, she wasn't going to deny that. She began to wonder if she could even fit that entire thing in her mouth, but she for sure wanted to try.
"I think the little cockslut is eager to suck you off San." Hongjoong sat up straighter in his seat, eyes focused on every detail in front of him.
"Is that right?"
Y/N exhaled softly when she felt San slap his cock against her cheek, running the tip on her cupid's bow.
"Go ahead. Just try and see if you can take me." He shot her a cocky grin.
Wanting to wipe that grin off his face, Y/N inserted the tip inside her mouth, keeping eye contact with San the entire time. She first tested the waters by slurping his head, indeed getting a reaction out of him since his thighs involuntarily shuddered. Feeling motivated, she slowly took more of him into her mouth, inch by inch he was slowly stuffing her full. Her cheeks hollowed out to help her fit him better, but still she gagged slightly when she felt him hit the back of her throat. Nevertheless she was proud of herself at being able to stuff his cock in her.
"Holy crap Y/N, are you trying to prove something?" Hongjoong stared in shock and arousal at seeing his significant other with another man's cock down her throat.
"Yeah, prove that she likes my cock better than yours." San gloated as he pulled her off his length only to stuff it back in and causing the female under him to let out a choked out gasp followed by a line of drool spilling onto the floor.
Grabbing her hair and pulling it up into a makeshift ponytail, San used it to keep her head up as he began a pattern of pulling out slowly only to force himself back inside her. He loved watching the messy scene in between his legs. Spit running down Y/N's chin, the corners of her eyes stained with tears, her muffled whines that were muted every time his shaft filled her mouth, the way his leader was sitting just a few feet away watching as his precious girlfriend was getting face fucked by someone else, San was enjoying it too much. His head was thrown back as he kept forcing his cock deep in her mouth, the loud slurping sounds of her swallowing around him complimenting the hisses and groans that were being exuded from his lips.
"Fuck! Oh my- are you ok with me cumming in your mouth?"
Judging by the way Y/N moaned around his organ and her hand cupped his balls to fondle them, San was taking that as a green light. Releasing her hair, he held onto the back of her head and pushed himself forcefully to and fro in her wet cavern, using it as leverage to help him reach his climax. Through shattered breath and clenched teeth, San's cum poured down her throat, hips stuttering and bucking further up to help him ride out his orgasm. When he pulled out, Y/N immediately gasped for air, her hair in complete disarray, lips darkened and wet with saliva.
"If that isn't one of the hottest images I've ever seen." Hongjoong added his input. He always did love seeing what a mess Y/N turned into after getting her pretty and delicate face fucked and abused.
Y/N smiled over at her boyfriend, looking at the tent in his pants before sending him a flirty wink accompanied by a swipe of tongue across her lips.
"You can suck him off after I'm done with you baby, but right now, I want you focused on me." San made her turn her attention back to him as he lifted her off the floor and set her on the edge of the bed. He showed no hesitation as he practically ripped her underwear off her body before tossing it behind him, making sure it landed on Hongjoong's lap.
"Jerk yourself off with that in the meantime cause you're not getting her back for a while."
Toying with the fabric in his hand, Hongjoong sneered at the younger male.
"Trust me, I have more self control than you'd think." He assured him.
"Let's see about that."
Getting down on his knees to be at eye level with her wet and shining folds, San dived in and began consuming her taste. His tongue moved languidly around her slit, savoring her taste on his tongue. Y/N's hands gripped and clutched the blanket underneath her, causing it to wrinkle up from how hard she was tugging at them. Her breath hitched whenever San gave all of his attention to her clit, sucking on the sensitive flesh until it began developing a slightly reddish tint. Her lips were also becoming engorged as San continued his assault on her mound, face practically buried inside her thighs. All throughout it, Hongjoong just took in every sharp intake of breath and every scrunched up expression Y/N made. It gave him joy to know she was definitely enjoying herself, her pleasure always been something he took into consideration.
"Good to see you know how to eat a girl out Sannie. I was afraid I was going to have to step in and show you why rapper are superior." He couldn't help himself but boast, after all, he had pride in being able to get a girl to cum multiple times with just his tongue.
Ignoring the older man's words, San gripped her thighs to hold her down. His tongue sped up as it slurped and slithered all over her heat, applying just enough pressure with his broad strokes across her labia folds. The girl on top of him tried to move his face away from her body as she felt the blood rushing down to her legs, face becoming heated as she knew she would burst any moment. She blamed Hongjoong for this, having spoiled and played around so much with her pussy that she was overly sensitive whenever she received oral sex. The fire pooling in her lower abdomen was about to explode.
"Ah! San- please!"
Muscles tightening and her upper body writhing, Y/N couldn't hold back as she began pumping out her orgasmic juices, her back falling back on the mattress while her mind blocked out anything that wasn't the immense feeling that was taking over her senses at the moment. San lapped up her juices generously, feeling smug about getting her to cum, although he knew it wouldn't be the only time she would be doing that. Sitting up, he allowed her to catch her breath and regain her senses before he continued with what he had in store.
Hongjoong looked with curiosity as San made Y/N sit back up and turned her over on all fours. Hongjoong couldn't stop the laugh that escaped his lips.
"You're gonna fuck her doggy style? Can't you be more creative?"
San didn't let his words deter him, he simply unclipped Y/N's bra and removed it from her body.
"I told you I was gonna fuck her like she's famous and that's exactly what I'm going to do."
His hands roamed across her body, caressing the curves and dips of her hips as he pressed his erection in between her ass cheeks. Y/N pushed her ass further back, impatient at the thought of having her hole filled up by him.
"See? Even she wants to be fucked like a little bitch in heat."
Y/N couldn't suppress the moan escaping her lips at being degraded like that.
"Wow, you're such a whore." Hongjoong mused when he heard her reaction.
"You offered this whore to your friend now suck it up and watch him pound my pussy." She giggled softly.
"Oh baby, I'm not just going to pound this pussy. I'm aiming to destroy it."
Lining himself against her hole, San slowly sunk his length deep into her walls. He felt as if he was being swallowed by her warmth that it took everything in him not to start fucking her right then. He made sure to give her time to adjust to his size.
"Hyung do you not fuck her enough? She's unbelievably tight and she feels too good." San grunted, dick twitching inside her as it ached for any sort of movement.
Hongjoong did not hide his displeased face.
"I fuck her quite often thank you very much."
San clicked his tongue in a cocky way.
"Whatever you say."
Y/N cried out in a high pitched tone when San suddenly pulled out only to plunge himself back into her. He set a merciless rhythm as his cock tore her walls open, stretching them as far as they could go, a stinging yet delicious burn heating her up. Strangled noises proceeded to spill forward from her throat mixing in perfectly with the sound of their skin smacking against each other. Shifting angles so his dick could hit against her g-spot every time it was shoved inside her, San's skin was already emitting that after sex glow, sweat beads forming on his temples. He looked completely focused, eyes trained on her ass cheeks that bounced with each of his thrusts. Unable to resist the urge, he brought one hand up so it could slap her skin.
"Oh s-shit!" She exclaimed, the force and unexpected smack on her bum nearly had her upper body collapsing on the bed.
"Can you smack her a little harder?" If Y/N wasn't so caught up with San fucking her so harshly, she would have noted the nearly sadistic tone in her boyfriend's voice.
"Just tell me if I can't take it baby." San caressed the patch of skin he had just slapped.
"Trust me, she can. She enjoys a little pain every now and then." Her boyfriend dished on that dirty little secret.
One slap was soon followed by several more. San made sure to alternate between each of her butt cheeks. Y/N's wailing began to get increasingly louder and frantic, her ass stinging every time San's hand smacked it, making a majority of it turn a deep red color. But he made sure that it wouldn't leave any bruising or anything of that sort remembering Hongjoong's previous rule.
"Damn you're so fucking loud."
The shocked gasp coming out her mouth was half muffled when San pushed her head against one of the pillows, effectively burying her loud mouth into the sheets.
"San didn't you said you'd fuck her like she's famous? Then why cover up her screaming?" Hongjoong pondered, one hand rubbing at the top of his thigh.
"Scream? You wanna really hear her scream?"
Yanking her back up from her hair, Y/N only managed to catch her breath for one second before she felt herself flipped onto her back. The intrusion of San's large cock was just as seering as the first one but it was welcomed nonetheless by her walls fluttering around his cock. One of her legs was thrown over his shoulder, his brutal pace heightening the build up in her stomach. Her fleshy mound was extremely swollen and had a pinkish red tint to it. Knowing how vulnerable she was, San licked his fingers before taking them out of his mouth only to have them come down on her clit.
"Oh-oh fuck!" Y/N threw her head back on the pillow, eyes shut tight with tears staining the corners of them as she felt slap after slap on her throbbing and pulsating pussy.
"You like that you little whore? Yes you do, you clench around me every time I do this." San smirked when he placed one final blow on her tender flesh that was responsive to any of his touches.
Y/N was starting to see white flashes of light in her vision, unable to hear or feel anything that wasn't the grazing inside her wetness. With whimpered crying, her arms and upper body writhed uncontrollably as San's hips continued jolting up into her, shaky breaths and pants keeping her from forming any coherent words as her juices poured out of her body. Feeling her heat cover him completely, San trailed not far behind her as his cock twitched and his seed painted her insides.
"Ah fuck!"
He jerked himself until he made sure to fill her to the brim, not satisfied until he had spurted out the last drop of cum he had in him to release. When he pulled out of her hole, he let out a groan of accomplishment as the white and milky like secretion seeped out of her hole, some of it glistening against her folds.
"You capturing that well Hyung?" San turned to Hongjoong.
"Oh trust me, it's all coming out beautifully." He answered as he looked at the computer screen, fingers working unbelievably quick to make sure to save the raw video in his files.
Getting up to go clean himself up on the bathroom, San picked up his clothes that were discarded on the floor. Before he could walk out the door, he was about to ask Y/N if she wanted to join him but she was already busying herself by kneeling in front of her boyfriend.
"Aren't you going to get cleaned up?"
Humming softly as she began undoing Hongjoong's belt, Y/N replied with a mischievous smile.
"Maybe later. Right now I gotta take care of my handsome man, after all, he's been sitting here with a hard ass boner." She chuckled as his dick sprang free.
"God, I love you so much baby."

Summary: Steve thinks you’re too young to like him despite the obvious hints you’re dropping.
Warnings: unspecified age gap
Word count: 2246
a/n: I’ve clearly spent too much time on TikTok recently, but inspired me to write something so that's good. It was loosely based on a request for a young reader x Steve, but I forgot part of the request so I'm gonna write something else for that one! Also, I wrote this on my phone so please excuse any typos I missed when trying to edit it lol

Tumblr media
Messing with Steve is one of your favorite things to do. Tiny pranks, over the top flirting, poking fun at his lack of understanding of technology. Anything you can do to get him to roll his eyes and chuckle.
Nat would say it’s because of your feelings for him. She would be correct. Not that you’d ever admit that to anyone. Nope. So instead, you have your fun, and enjoy the way his eyes crinkle and his cheeks redden.
Your newest method of hearing the sweet sound of Steve’s laugh? TikTok. It’s a double whammy. One because he doesn’t understand the app and two because a lot of the trends make him blush.
It started as a fun way to blow off steam. Sometimes, being one of the younger and newer team members made you feel like an outsider. Of course, Peter was younger than you, but he had his own friends outside of the team. You didn’t have anyone else. When Tony found you and invited you to join, it was you against the world. Now you have this makeshift family.
Having your account on TikTok helped you when you hadn’t really become a part of the group yet. You bonded with Peter because of his account, and you found a new way to make Steve blush.
Anyway, you’ve learned way more TikTok dances than you ever would have thought just to see his pink cheeks. It’s not even always over the top dances that have him chuckling. The last trend you did had him laughing the entire day. It was that sound about Wednesday Adams having one thing on her mind. Only when it said homicide, instead of a deadpan expression you panned the camera to show Bucky and Sam arguing over who got the last donut.
Of course, you knew when you made the video it would appeal to Steve’s sense of humor. Sam and Bucky feature in a lot of your videos for that exact reason.
In general, you make a lot of videos featuring the Avengers just to keep Tony happy. He likes to be the center of attention, plus the only way he would approve of your account was if it could also feature as PR for the team. You agreed, as long as you had final say over what you posted. There’s nothing scripted or designed for a specific reason, you just feature the team sometimes.
Like when that sound from the Big Bang theory was popular amongst Avengers fans, you made a video confessing to Pepper that you’d been thinking about the Avengers, panning to show the team during training.
Of course, the text on the screen said “you are an Avenger” instead of “I believe that”, allowing you to play off the joke. But still, it was fun to include the team.
One of your favorite videos features none other than Scott Lang, mostly because nobody else would do it. Scott thought it was hilarious though.
Using the sound from New Girl, Scott played Schmidt and you Jess. The text on the screen read as follows:
Scott: You just walk around all day thinking about America’s Ass?
You: Yeah, don’t you?
Scott: No! How do you get anything done?
You: It’s hard…
Steve blushed like crazy when everyone cornered him to watch it. Bucky, Sam, and Tony wouldn’t stop bringing it up for at least a month. A part of you hoped he might make a move after that video, seeing as you put yourself out there, but he just assumed it was a joke and laughed it off.
Honestly, you were running out of trends that you could use to get him to understand your feelings. You only had two ideas left, and one of them would be mortifying if it didn’t work out…
-
“Steve. You’ve got to be kidding me.” Bucky sighed, exasperated with Steve for the umpteenth time that month. “You’ve been pining for forever, just make a move!” he whisper yelled, doing his best not to throttle his lifelong friend.
Steve rolled his eyes, purposefully ignoring Bucky’s pointed glare. The two men had spent the last hour looking through your TikTok account. Bucky was adamant that you liked Steve, but the blonde didn’t believe it, despite the so called proof Bucky kept forcing him to watch.
“Buck, would you please just back off? We’re friends. She’s too young to want to be with me like that.” Steve blushed, thinking about the context of his words.
Before Bucky could say anything about how repressing his feelings is bad for him, a new video popped up on your account. Bucky smirked when he saw the thumbnail was once again a picture of Steve, this time with a beard. Steve took the silence as an opportunity to escape, walking into his closet to change.
The video opened with a video of you and Natasha just hanging out, you lip syncing to the words “I like you have a cupcake.” You repeated the words as the video cut to you and Tony.
Bucky nearly dropped the phone when “smack my ass like a drum” blared from the speaker. He cackled bending over in a fit of laughter when he realized that’s what Steve’s picture was used for- and one where he had a beard to boot.
“What is it now, jerk?” Steve emerged from his closet, having changed into loungewear. The sight of Bucky fully cackling had him nervous.
Bucky tossed him the phone, doing his best to stop laughing long enough to tell him to watch the most recent video. With a hesitant sigh, Steve obliged.
Again, Bucky rolled his eyes at how obvious Steve’s feelings were. The second he saw you on the screen, he smiled. And not one of those half hearted polite smiles, a full on happy smile.
Steve’s eyes widened, nearly bulging out of his head when he got to the end of the video.
“‘She doesn’t want to be with me like that.’” Bucky mocked his friends earlier words, grabbing his phone back. “Punk, I don’t know how much more obvious she could be.”
With one more glare in Steve’s direction, Bucky finally left him to his own thoughts. Okay, so you made a lot of videos about how you find him attractive. That doesn’t necessarily mean you’d want to be in a relationship with him. Leave it to Steve to talk himself out of everything Bucky had spent so long trying to convince him of.
-
You were desperate at this point. You honestly thought the cupcake one would send him over the edge, but it didn’t work either. It has been three days, and you know Steve’s seen the video because everyone likes to tease him about it.
“Naaaaaat, it’s not working,” you whined, dramatically throwing yourself onto her bed. She laughed at your antics, briefly looking up at you before deciding to stop what she was going and give you her full attention.
“Look, not only is Steve one of the most clueless people I’ve ever met when it comes to women, but he can also talk himself out of believing someone’s interested in him. Especially you.” Nat watched as you lifted your head from her comforter, slowly turning to stare at her with narrowed eyes.
“Especially me?” you questioned. Why would you have a different standard?
“Y/N, Steve’s from the 40s. He’s super old fashioned. You're a hot young thing, super up to date on modern trends. He thinks you're just messing around as friends because he doesn’t believe someone as young as you would be interested in actually having a relationship with him,” she spelt it out for you, sick of trying to get you to figure it out on your own.
You took a minute to fully understand what she was saying, but then sat up when a new idea struck. “So you’re saying I need to be more direct?”
Her eyes narrowed, but she nodded nonetheless.
“I’ve got an idea. Thanks Nat!” you ran from the room before she could question your newest plan, instead checking to make sure her notifications were on for posts from your TikTok account.
-
“Steve!” you shouted when you saw him down the hall, about to turn a corner. He immediately stopped, turning back to see you running at him. “I need your help!”
You pulled him into the gym, briefly glancing around the room to make sure it was empty. Confirming nobody else was present, you set up your phone on one of the weight racks to record the two of you. It was already open to the recording section of TikTok, the sound you needed queued and ready to begin.
“What’s going on?” Steve looked between you and the phone, nerves heightening as he realized what you were doing. All of your videos about him thus far hasn’t actually involved him filming anything.
“I just need you to react to this trend, okay? It’s kind of old, but that doesn’t really matter,” you spoke quickly, trying to start the video before he could decline.
The music started playing instantly, with Steve awkwardly looking between the screen and you. He wasn’t sure what exactly he was reacting to, and it had him on edge. Just as the song reached the chorus, you turned and grabbed his face. Throwing caution to the wind, you followed through with your plan before you could back out, kissing him with all the passion and emotion you’d been holding back.
Steve froze, clearly surprised by your actions. Before you could pull away, he wrapped his arms around you and pulled you closer. He kissed you with equal passion and emotion, no longer paying attention to your phone recording the moment.
Neither of you noticed when the music cut off, too wrapped up in each other. When the need for air overpowered the desire to keep kissing him, you pulled back to gasp in a few breaths. Steve leaned his forehead against yours, eyes closed and breathing erratic.
The two do you spent the next few moments just breathing, trying to come to terms with what just happened. You gasped when his hands moved, one resting on your waist and the other cupping your cheek. His eyes were still closed when you chanced a glance at him.
“What was the trend?” he breathily whispered the words, still coming down from the high of kissing you.
“Huh?” you mumbled, unable to comprehend the question when he was still touching you like this.
“The TikTok trend? What was it?” his grip on your hip tightened, but his hand framing your face remained gentle.
“Oh, uh, it was- it was kissing your best friend/crush.” You whispered, heart still racing from his proximity. Your nerves had never been greater. Yeah, Nat always tells you that Steve has feelings for you, but what if he was just being polite? Maybe he didn’t know how to reject you when you kissed him out of nowhere, and now he’s trying to find a way to turn you down gently. What if-
“Was my reaction good enough to post?” he broke your train of thought with another question. You took a minute to think about the question, your brain still moving like molasses
“Um, that depends…” you froze when his eyes opened and stared into yours.
“On?” he prompted you to continue.
“Which caption I can use.” you finished the thought, finally remembering the two most common outcomes of the trend.
“What are the choices?” Steve smirked when you looked flustered, clearly not expecting this conversation.
“Uh, the two-” he began rubbing small circles into your hip with his thumb, effectively cutting off your train of thought again. It wasn’t until he lightly squeezed your hip again that you remember you were answering his question.
“Right! The two most common captions are some variation of ‘this was so awkward’ or ‘we’re dating now’,” you managed to blurt out the choices, blushing when he smiled at you.
“Well, I know which I prefer…” you waited with bated breath as he prolonged the silence, enjoying seeing you so on edge. You nearly whined when he let you go, moving to pick up your phone from the weight rack.
You watched in silence as he typed out a caption, tapping each letter with his pointer finger. A small smile formed on your lips at his adorable old man behavior. He then managed to find the post button, adding the video to your account before handing you the phone to see what he chose.
Your smile only grew after you read the caption, dropping the phone and immediately kissing him again.
-
Meanwhile, Nat had gathered the rest of the team that happened to be around to wait for whatever video you had planned to be posted.
Tony, Sam, Bucky, Wanda, Vision, Peter, and Clint all watched as the new video popped up on the screen. Peter bounced with excitement when he heard the song, instantly recognizing the trend. The rest of the group watched as you kissed Steve, mouths gaping open when he actually kissed you back.
Fans were already commenting about how long it took for the two of you to get together, but the team was too focused on laughing at the caption to pay any mind to the comments.
She said the trend was kind of old, but that fits because I’ve got a habit of waiting too long anyways.

“Please…”
A familiar voice begged her quietly from the darkness.
“Don’t leave me…”
With a shaky hand on the doorknob, she froze. She kept her back to him, unable to fully process what was happening. Trying desperately to fight the urge to run as far away from him as she could.
How did everything go so wrong? She wondered to herself, on the brink of tears. What happened to you?
The answer wasn’t so simple, but God it would’ve been easier if she left. She should’ve left months ago but she didn’t, she couldn’t. She would stay by his side and endure everything because she made him a childish promise so many years ago.
Back when they were young, she promised to never abandon him. To never turn her back, to be there for him because no one else was. And he made promises that echoed the same. They were best friends, after all. It had always been them against the world. Despite that, despite everything they had been through together, her better judgement was screaming at her to go. She wanted nothing more than to leave him behind, to finally save her battered heart from the person who kept breaking it.
From him, Hong Jisoo, the one person she promised she would never leave.
“Okay.” She whispered. “I’ll stay.”
She turned around slowly, stomaching her pride and well-being because he needed her. Inhale, exhale. She wouldn’t cry over him, not yet. He needed her, he needed something. He was laying on her couch, blood soaking the cheap upholstery, and his body was shaking from shock. There wasn’t much she could do, but she was all he had. They were all they had.
While she cleaned his wounds, she struggled to pinpoint the exact moment when he had taken things too far. For as long as she could remember, he had always toed the edge of mostly acceptable and borderline insane with a certain amount of grace. That’s what set him apart from everyone else, apart from his extremely deep sense of justice, overwhelming selflessness, and eagerness to do whatever he could to help people in need. Often at the expense of his own wellbeing.
From chasing purse snatchers to sneaking into abandoned warehouses that weren’t actually abandoned just to save pit bulls from dog fights, Jisoo made it painfully clear that he lacked the minimum amount of self-preservation. It wasn’t uncommon for him to get in way over his head, but she would always be there to help him out. He was a bit of a troublemaker, that much was obvious. Not that she ever cared. Because no matter how much trouble he got into, there was always a good reason. He promised her that a long time ago.
That was a promise he didn’t need to make because she knew full well that Jisoo was, and still is, a good person. Everything he did, every crazy endeavor, was to help people. She had seen it firsthand enough times in her life. That was how they met back in nursery school, after a particularly nasty classmate put gum in her hair Jisoo leapt into action. He tackled the kid to the ground with ease and taught him a thing or two. That was also the first time she saw him get into a fight, and it wouldn’t be the last.
What she couldn’t understand, what she couldn’t even begin to wrap her head around, was why he got into street fighting of all things? Because that wasn’t somewhere in the grey area between acceptable and insane, that was insane. That was way past insane. Not to mention it was against everything Jisoo stood for. How did her capeless hero go from selflessly protecting others to actively hurting people? What changed? What was the reason? And how on earth did she get caught up in this mess?
The answer was simple, and she didn’t like it one bit. All he had to do to convince her was ask. He asked a simple question, one wrapped up in the pact they made as children.
“Remember how you said you’d always be there for me?” He started nervously one afternoon while she was studying in the library. “I have a favor to ask…”
Honestly, she couldn’t remember exactly how he worded it, but she got the gist of it. Her best friend wanted to become a street fighter, to hurt people for money, and he wanted her to come with him. He said he didn’t want to worry his roommates by coming home late at night when he could crash at her place. That way if he got hurt, she could patch him up like she always did, and no one would be the wiser. He discussed all of this with her like it was the most normal thing in the world. Like getting beat up regularly was no big deal at all.
Part of her wanted to scream at him, to berate him for making such reckless decisions, to take him by the ear and drag him home to his parents so they could give him a piece of their mind—
Then, he smiled at her. The very same smile that could melt the coldest of hearts and her mind went completely blank. She couldn’t remember much of the specifics after that because he had effectively hypnotized her with his infectious smile. She didn’t even make a fuss which wasn’t typical of her in the slightest. Not that she could ever imagine saying no to him, nor did she even plan to. He needed her, he’s always needed her.
Still, she desperately wanted it all to be a bad dream. Even as she stood on the sidelines for the very first time watching her best friend get punched, kicked, tackled and more, she prayed that it wasn’t real. She did her best to ignore how he grunted in pain, how the crowd turned ravenous over the sight of spilled blood, and how he looked eerily similar to the caged dogs he used to save from that same fate. Seeing him like that made her heart ache in ways she never knew it could.
How she missed the days when the worst thing Jisoo got involved in was under the table delivery jobs and falling out of trees trying to save stray kittens. Because when she looked at the man standing in the ring wearing her best friend's face, grinning triumphantly with his hands in the air, she could hardly recognize him. He looked nothing like the kid who protected others no matter what. Not with all that blood on his face.
Who are you and what have you done with Jisoo? She worried to herself as she toweled off his brow. Why are you doing this to yourself? What could possibly be worth all of this?
Still, she attended every fight and acted as his personal medic. She promised him that much. And for a short period of time, it went pretty well. For several weeks he was on a winning streak, no one could beat him. Much to the dismay of the people placing bets against him. See, while Jisoo didn’t look like much of a fighter, or the type of guy to even get into a fight, he was really good at it. That’s why she never worried about him being outmatched in the ring, he could handle himself. Not only that, before every match, he made her a promise.
“For good luck?” He asked sheepishly with his pinky finger extended. “I can’t do this without you.”
Looking at his finger, she thought back to all the times they made each other a promise over the tiniest things. It started when they were young. When he was going into a test or a school competition she made him promise to do well, kick ass, and various other things. It seemed silly to her back then, but it always worked out. Because Jisoo always swore up and down that if it was a promise to her, he would follow through without fail. And she believed it, even when the odds were stacked against him. She had to because it was the only way she could sleep at night.
“Promise me you’ll be safe.” She said calmly, locking pinky’s with him.
“I promise.”
“Promise me you’ll be smart.”
“I promise.”
“Promise me you’ll win.” She finished with a weak smile.
He nodded, grinning ear to ear. “I promise.”
Right before he turned away, fully prepared for the violent show he was about to put on, she pulled him back in for a reassuring hug. As much as she didn’t want to see him get hurt, even though she couldn’t stand the thought of watching him helplessly from the sideline, a promise was a promise.
“Be careful out there.” She whispered in his ear.
He held her close for a brief moment. “I will. Don’t worry about me.”
If I don’t then who will?
They lingered a bit longer than either intended. Eventually Jisoo headed out into the crowd with his hands raised proudly over his head, and she pretended to be happy for him. The crowd cheered on the newest contender while her stomach did backflips. Everything seemed fine until his opponent landed a blow that sent Jisoo to his knees. In truth, she almost gave up right then and there.
I think I’m going to be sick...
Why she didn’t draw the line at street fighting back then, the one thing she couldn’t support, was beyond her. Or why she thought it would be a good idea to stand there and constantly watch her best friend get beaten senseless time and time again. She swore that she had absolutely no clue way she let him get away with everything, why she didn’t try to make him see reason long ago—
But she did.
Because I’m hopelessly in love. She sighed, wringing out the blood soaked towel. I’m in love with a man I can never abandon, no matter how much it hurts.
Maybe if she wasn’t, she would’ve had the courage to leave and never look back.
She had accepted that being in love with her best friend was going to be hard, even when she was just silently pining from a distance. In hindsight she didn’t realize how easy it was back then compared to how it is now. Watching the man she loved throw himself into dangerous situations with reckless abandon or never knowing when he would appear on her doorstep in dire need of help did not bode well for her sanity. Because loving Hong Jisoo was the equivalent to getting her heart broken every single day. She had to be ready to lose track of him for several days, she had to be willing to drive to the ER at three in the morning, and she lived every day wondering if today was the day. The day that he happily followed his moral compass off a cliff simply because it pointed him there.
The moment that Jisoo stopped being a misguided rescuer and became a selfless martyr wasn’t one she could name. When they were in school, everything seemed so innocent. He was always trying to save the lost souls of the world, even the ones who didn’t want saving. He would only date girls who needed fixing, doted on friends that needed his help, and everyday he tried to save people from themselves.
Surprisingly, she didn’t fit into any of those categories. She was the type to save herself. Throughout their lives she never asked him for anything, and perhaps that’s why they were such good friends. The last thing she wanted to be was another one of his projects, a hopeless cause he refused to give up on. If anything—he was hers. Over the years she stood by him, desperately hoping that he would eventually get a grip on reality. That maybe he would see the light and stop being so—good. She hated herself for thinking about it that way, but it was the truth. She knew better than anyone that if he didn’t find some sort of balance he would run himself to the ground.
Much like he was actively doing.
“Not going to wish me good luck today?” He teased her as he wrapped his fists.
She rolled her eyes. “You need a lot more than luck, Jisoo.”
“Ouch.” He winced unconvincingly. “Don’t tell me you’re going to break tradition, I don’t know how I’ll make it without you.”
“You’re being ridiculous.” She muttered.
“I didn’t realize that my concern for safety was ridiculous!” He laughed, clearly unable to read the room. “C’mon, don’t leave me hanging. I need you.”
And I need you to stop hurting yourself.
Despite her thoughts, she raised her pinky finger towards him with a sigh. “Promise me.”
She made him promise to be quick on his feet, to be smart out there, and to win. While the words spilled out of her mouth she had a sinking feeling in her stomach, heavy and all consuming. Dread. And as he ran out to start his fight the feeling only got worse. Something was about to go terribly wrong and she knew it.
Her mind wandered back to their days in school, when Jisoo was the beautiful contradiction of a perfect student with a shady background. People saw him running deliveries late at night, dealing a lot in cash and thought the worst. She knew the truth, she knew that his neighbour had injured himself and couldn’t afford to hire anyone to take care of deliveries. So instead of watching from the sideline, Jisoo did what he did best. He helped the old man secretly and accepted what little payment he could offer.
How she missed those days of innocence and promise. How she missed the memories of Jisoo’s selfless actions, ones that were slowly being lost beneath the sea of blood.
It turns out she was right to be worried. It was the first time Hong Jisoo ever broke a promise to her. He was carried out of the makeshift arena by two other fighters, barely able to stand on his own. They threw him at her feet and left without a word because he had lost. Before shock had a chance to set in she scrambled to his side with a wet rag, instinctively wiping off the blood that covered him while she did her best to keep her dinner down. He looked—he looked terrible. She had a hard time recalling a worse sight in her entire life.
He was barely recognizable.
“I’m sorry…” He said weakly, his good eye pleading with her. “I broke my promise…”
“Shut up.” She instructed him. “Don’t even think of that right now, let’s just get you home.”
It was a struggle getting him back to her apartment. He wasn’t a big guy but he wasn’t tiny either. Luckily her roommates were nowhere to be seen so they wouldn’t have to explain anything to them. Only a few people knew the truth of Jisoo and she had a feeling that the list was getting shorter. After lugging him up the stairs she got him onto her couch, not even bothering to try and keep it clean, and pulled the med kit out of her bag.
Since he started fighting she had no shortage of rags to clean him up with, they had become somewhat of a necessity. Still, she somehow dirtied every single one trying to get him clean. It would’ve been easier to sit him in a hot shower and let modern technology work its magic, but he couldn’t sit up on his own let alone stand. Not only that, he kept drifting in and out of consciousness. She didn’t want to risk him falling.
Eventually he was clean and everything seemed to be—okay. Or as okay as he could be after that. Just looking at him had her on the brink of tears. She couldn’t stand seeing him like that, a mere shadow of the man she had loved for so long. His right eye was swollen shut, his nose most definitely had been broken, and the smile that melted her heart had been cut through. She didn’t even dare to look at the rest of him, at the bruises peering out from underneath his tank top and the open wounds that seeped through his jeans.
I need to be strong. She decided. For him.
Except that was only an hour ago.
And she had no strength left.
Once he fell asleep her resolve finally broke. She promised herself when this all began that she would never let him know how much the whole ordeal hurt her deep down inside. No matter what, she wouldn’t cry in front of him. She wouldn’t be someone he had to worry about, she wouldn’t be able to forgive herself. But enough was enough. Whether she wanted to or not, she couldn’t stop the tears from falling. She wept freely over someone she cared for, admired, and loved despite everything he put her through. Because he swore that even if every bone in his body was broken, he would never break a promise to her.
But he did, and she couldn’t trust him anymore.
“Please…” He begged quietly. “Don’t cry…”
She didn’t stir at the sound of his voice, or the reassuring hand on hers. “Why are you doing this to yourself, Jisoo? What is worth all of this pain? Can you at least tell me that much?”
Silence descended upon them in response to the one question that he refused to answer. It drove her crazy, that he was doing this to himself and wouldn’t even tell her why. Why he suddenly transitioned from an angelic rebel without a cause to a ruthless brawler in the streets. She felt like the little boy that chased away bullies was slipping from her grasp, the Jisoo that was laying in front of her—she could hardly recognize.
And she decided that night that she wouldn’t have a part in it anymore.
The next time he called her to meet him for a fight, she didn’t respond. Nor did she respond to any message he left after that. For weeks she had absolutely nothing to do with Hong Jisoo. He left her a dozen voicemails, a hundred messages, and she told herself that she didn’t care. He broke a promise to her so she broke one to him. She couldn’t stand there and let him break her heart over and over again without consequence. Street fighting—she wasn’t going to support that any longer.
That didn’t mean her heart didn’t ache for him anymore. She wasn’t sure if that would ever be the case. She made some acquaintances while she attended Jisoo’s fights so she was able to keep tabs on him, forever fearing the moment when he was going to take it too far. When, not if, the next call she got from him came from a hospital. Sometimes the news was good, sometimes it was bad. She felt equally terrible each time.
In fact she felt terrible consistently, regardless of Jisoo fighting or not. As the days passed the sensation only seemed to get worse. She left him to stop feeling so horrible, to let her heart heal in some way. Apparently leaving him wasn’t as easy as she hoped. She still longed to see him, to make sure he was okay, to be there for the one person who had always been there for her. The one who asked her to stand by him, and the one she left behind.
After not speaking to him for almost a month she showed up at his apartment with kiwi ice cream as an apology. It wasn’t much, but that’s all she needed in the past so at least it would be a good start if he was still mad at her—if he had ever been mad at her at all. They had never really fought before, not to a point where she refused to talk to him. It was new territory for both of them. She had to keep reminding herself that things would never be the same and she would have to accept it. This was his life now, and maybe it could be hers.
When he opened the door though, her heart stopped.
Jisoo was basically bandaged from head to toe, his arm was held precariously in a sling and what little skin she could see was beaten black and blue. Butterfly bandaids kept open wounds together, injuries she had already taken care of had scarred, and her heart shattered into a million pieces all over again.
“Hey.” He greeted, ignoring her devastated expression. “Long time no see.”
“Jisoo…” She gasped. “You—you’re—”
“I’m fine.” He tried to reassure her. “I know it looks bad but I’m—”
“If you say I’m fine one more time I’m going to snap.” She hissed through her teeth. “You’re not fine, you look like absolute hell. You can’t keep doing this to yourself!”
He laughed, quite unconvincingly. “This is nothing, I promise you I’m—“
“Enough of your stupid promises!” She screamed at him. “I’m fucking sick of them!”
“I know I broke my promise to you,” He started with a sigh, “but we both knew that just because I promised you something, didn’t mean that I—”
He stopped when he saw the tears falling from her eyes.
“Oh please don’t cry.” He begged. “You can yell at me, you can hate me, but please, please, don’t cry.”
“I won’t stop.” She informed him. “If you’re going to keep going out and fighting for no goddamn reason and coming back looking like this then I’m not going to stop worrying about you!”
Shaking his head, he headed back into his apartment. “And if I have a reason?”
“Then tell me!” She begged as she finally unraveled. “Jisoo—if you’re not going to tell me why you’re doing this then I can’t be your friend anymore. I can’t stand here and watch you get beaten up for money. And I hate that you even asked me in the first place! I’ve been through enough for you and have asked for anything, not a damn thing except for an explanation! After everything I’ve endured for you I’m pretty fucking sure I’m owed that much!”
As he turned back around she could see the hurt in his eyes. “I know, I know, I’m sorry, I just—it’ll get better, I’ll prepare more, I—”
“You’re completely missing the point!” She cried. “I’m not watching the person I love get beat within an inch of his life every other night! I can’t do this anymore! I’m sick of worrying about you every time you’re out of my sight. It’s not fair, it’s not healthy! And you’re honestly an asshole if you think I’m going to stand by you while you do this for a minute longer!”
When she turned to leave, her confession laid out at his feet, broken and bloody like her heart, Jisoo reached out for her one last time.
“What did you just say?” He whispered, sorrow in his eyes. “Did you just—”
“Yes.” She confirmed. “I love you Jisoo and I always have, but I won’t put myself through this anymore. Since you’re not going to stop then this is goodbye. I can’t love a man who doesn’t even care that he’s broken my heart more times than I can count.”
He didn’t let go of her.
“Please, let me explain.” He pleaded with her. “Don’t leave like this.”
“So now you’re going to tell me?” She spat, turning and yanking her arm from his grasp. “After I’ve just confessed to you now you’re going to tell me everything? I didn’t realize the truth came with a price. You’re an ass that’s got everyone fooled. Even me.”
“I know, I am.” He agreed, running his good hand through his hair. “I didn’t want to bother you with my reasons, I didn’t want to get you involved. But it wasn’t fair of me to keep you in the dark like that. I never should’ve done that to you.”
Crossing her arms, she waited.
“You remember that old man I helped out as a kid?” He started. “The shop owner?”
She nodded.
“A car crashed into his shop a few months ago.” He continued. “The damage was too much for insurance to cover and he didn’t have the money to get it fixed on his own so I offered to help. My usual side jobs weren’t paying me enough, so my boss told me about the underground fights and how lucrative they can be…”
“Jisoo—” She exasperated. “Please tell me you haven’t been—”
“I have.” He admitted sheepishly. “I’ve been—I’ve been giving him the winnings from my fights. To help him out. I just wanted him to—”
“You’re telling me that this has just been another one of your selfless missions?” She questioned in disbelief. “Have you told him where the money’s coming from? Does he know that you’re risking your life for him? Do you think that’s what he wants? Do you think that anyone with any ounce of decency would ever want this?”
Jisoo pursed his lips. “Well, no, but that’s why I didn’t tell you. I didn’t—don’t—want him to know. It would break his heart—”
“So it’s okay to break my heart but not his?” She laughed bitterly. “You know what, fine. I’m done. You’ve shown me that you only care about the well-being of others. I’m obviously nothing to you. I don’t even care why you’re doing this anymore. I’m leaving, and you—”
He interrupted her tirade with a kiss. Forceful and desperate, trying to cling to whatever relationship they had. One that had been mangled and shredded to a point where she wasn’t sure there was anything left to save. Mustering her strength, she pushed him away. She might’ve loved him but that wasn’t what she wanted.
“You’re right.” He finally admitted. “Losing you isn’t worth all of this, I’ll stop. Promise.”
“Your promises mean nothing to me.” She said vehemently, tears springing from her eyes in anger. “What’s to say you won’t break this one too?”
“Because I love you.” He whispered. “And I know now that everything I’ve put your through hasn’t been right or fair but I promise—I swear that this will be different. No more fighting, that all stops now.”
She wasn’t convinced. “And what about tomorrow when someone asks you for a loan? Or when some stranger needs your fucking kidney? What’re you going to do then? I love that you’re so needlessly kind and generous but what you’re doing isn’t kindness anymore. It’s martyrdom and I’m scared of what you’re going to do next! At what point do you finally say no?”
For a long time there was silence.
“I’m sorry.” He returned quietly. “I’m sorry that I don’t know when to stop and I’m sorry that you always get dragged into these things. I’m sorry that I’ve just become so accustomed to your support that I expect it regardless of how stupid I’m being. I’m sorry that I didn’t know how much I was hurting you, I’m sorry that I’m in love with you just like you’re in love with me. I’m sorry I’m probably the hardest person in the world to love. But I promise you that things will be different now.”
She wanted to believe him, she really did. She wanted to run into his arms, never let him go, and have everything return to normal. She wanted to go back to when they were teenagers hiding a stray dog in his garage so his parents didn’t find out, back to when the only calls she got in the middle of the night were about new adventures and childish discoveries. Back when loving Jisoo didn’t hurt. Not like this.
She wasn’t sure that existed anymore.
“Jisoo I don’t—” She started, chewing on her lower lip. “I don’t know if I can forget these past couple months, let alone forgive them. You proved to me that I barely know you anymore and I don’t know how to move past that.”
He nodded in understanding, he knew it was going to take a lot more than an apology to win her back. “Alright, what do you want to do then?”
A hysterical laugh spilled past her lips. “Now that I really don’t know. Just—I don’t think I can trust you as a friend so I definitely won’t trust you as anything more. I love you but—but love isn’t always enough. It’s going to take more than a guilt ridden apology to help me move on.”
“What about a promise?” He offered with a soft smile. “A promise to you.”
“Jisoo…” She sighed. “A broken promise brought us here in the first place.”
“I’m not asking you to make me promise, I’m making a promise to you.” He clarified. “No pinky promises required.”
That caught her off guard.
“I promise to never get into another paid fight.” He began confidently. “I promise to never let anything like this ever happen again. I promise not to put myself in harm's way unless I’m protecting someone. I promise to take my well-being into consideration. I promise to do everything in my power to make it up to you. And I promise to be your friend no matter what.”
While he said no pinky promises required, they locked their little fingers almost reflexively. At that realization she started sobbing, letting that small promise make her feel happy and safe for the first time in a long while. She was unsure of where they would go from there, but she had a good feeling that everything would be okay if given enough time. Because Jisoo made her a promise, and as much as she protested their childish tradition, he always made it a point to keep his promises.

Harry was in a dilemma.
Usually, he could sweep all his issues under the rug, save them for another day, but this one... he couldn't do that. Not because he didn't want to, but because this problem was more than just a dust bunny on his hardwood floor.
Y/N was the problem.
Or to be more precise, his feelings for Y/N were the problem.
Harry had confidence when it came to his crushes. He was smooth, flirty, and snagged almost every single person he's caught feelings for.
But not Y/N.
No, she was almost unreachable, for quite a few reasons.
One, the only reason he knew her, met her, was through a producer he had been working with the past few months. Arlo was massive in the industry and Harry was flattered when Arlo approached him with interest in collaborating. And only a month into working together, he met Y/N.
Harry's head snapped towards the door that had just burst open, a girl barging into the studio that he had never seen before. She was gorgeous, he had to admit, but he couldn't ignore her blatant disrespect for coming in and making a scene while he, Arlo, and a few of his bandmates were working annoyed him to no end.
"Dad! Oh my god, you will not believe what just happened, I was on my way over here and I fucking bumped into Zach," The girl began ranting, approaching Arlo and huffing as she stood next to Arlo's chair. "Of all fucking people I could see just walking down the street, it had to be him. The world is against me today I swear. Anyways, I brought that drum pad you wanted."
She dug into her big brown bag that was slung over her shoulder and pulled out the music board, placing it on the table in front of Arlo.
"Where'd you see him, Y/N? We're about to go on break and I can leave and go kick his ass in," Arlo checked his watch. "7 minutes."
Y/N, Harry now knew her as, sighed and crossed her arms. "He's long gone by now, think he shit his pants when he saw me walking near him."
"Atta girl, thanks for bringing my board too," Arlo smiled up at her from his chair. He then turned to see Harry, and Mitch staring at the two of them. "Oh sorry guys, this is my daughter, Y/N. Y/N, this is Harry and Mitch."
She turned to look at them and smiled wide. "Nice to meet you!"
"You too." They both said in unison, looking at each other with a smile, before focusing back on Y/N.
"We'll be done soon, if you wanna go out and get lunch." Arlo said, turning back to his daughter.
"Sounds good, just text me," Y/N replied, giving him a smile before turning back to the boys. "Nice meeting you guys, again."
And before they could even respond she was gone.
Two, Y/N was younger than him. 6 years younger to be exact. It didn't seem like much, but when put into perspective, she was 21, only just being legally allowed to drink in the States, and Harry was 27. Practically 30, if you ask him, and he was positive Arlo would have his head if he found out Harry liked his daughter.
And three, she doesn't date the people her dad works with.
He had found this out one night when he, Arlo, Y/N, Mitch, and a couple other writers were hanging out at the studio, drinking some wine (she had even exclaimed that this would be her first time drinking red, and Harry was yet again reminded of her age) and chatting after a long day of working.
Harry and Mitch were laughing with Arlo about the first time they met Y/N, and her comments about this “Zach” guy.
“He’s my ex, and had worked with my dad on one shitty song that never got far because he’s just so-- music is just not his thing, to put it nicely. But he was an absolute asshole and after him I made rule to never date anyone Dad works with. It would just go terribly.” She explained, letting Arlo take a few more jabs at the guy before stopping him.
So yeah, Harry was in a dilemma.
In all the time he’d known Y/N, he just kept falling for her. She was kind, funny, beautiful, lit up any room she walked into, and treated Harry like fine porcelain.
She was just fucking perfect.
。:°ஐ
Y/N had probably been in a lot of worse positions than the predicament she was in now.
For example, that time her dad walked in on her and her ex making out in the studio, or her 21st birthday when she got completely wasted and almost got into the wrong car instead of her uber, and the next day found out that the man driving that car was actually a convicted criminal.
So there’s worse things that could happen than her liking Harry.
But it doesn't mean it wasn’t bad.
The thing is, Y/N didn’t fall for anyone easily. Her one and only ex Zach treated her like a queen until he could officially claim her as his. The flowers he gave her before every date remained at the shop and the consistent compliments turned into insults and muttered claims of discontentment.
Hence why he was her ex. It took Y/N quite a long time to work up the courage to end things with him. He was her first kiss, first time, and first boyfriend. She was yet to find her first love, she never really loved Zach. The way he used to treat her in the beginning, she thinks she loved, but him? No, she would never call him her first love.
So when Y/N’s time crush on Harry began to develop into real feelings in such a short span of time, it terrified her. She had really never felt this way about someone before; butterflies would erupt in her stomach every time he shot her a smile and her mind would erupt into pure chaos when his body brushed up against her own.
So yeah, it could be worse, but it certainly wasn't good.
。:°ஐ
Y/N enjoyed spending time at the studio with her dad, and surprisingly, spending time with her dad’s “co-workers”. Even though she didn't usually hang out with the pop stars and spent time mostly with the backing band/producers (they were usually 50 year old men, but they were pretty nice) she enjoyed herself fully, having lunch breaks and talking about where their children when to school and whatnot.
Sometimes though, every blue moon, Y/N would hang out with a super star her dad was working with. Usually when most stars are at the studio all they did was record, which was understandable, but she never had the chance to meet a lot of them.
With Harry though, everything was different. It wasn’t just lunches at the studio, or dinner at someone’s house, no, tonight they were going out to a bar.
It was completely unexpected too, they had just wrapped up a song, and Harry, being in a particularly good mood had yelled out about going to a bar to celebrate. Of course, Y/N ignored his shout, knowing she wasn’t invited, and after Arlo had said something about “not being able to party as much as I used to”, she gave her dad a hug good night and waved a little goodbye to the band.
“Wait!” Harry had exclaimed, chasing after her in the hallway. “Where are y’going?”
Y/N’s eyes widened and she looked behind her before looking back at Harry. “I was just gonna head back home.”
Harry’s head tilted, and looked at her questionably. “Y’not comin’ to the bar with us?” He practically pouted.
Her brows shot up in surprise. “Oh! I- yeah I’ll go out with you guys.”
Which lead her here, decently tipsy, and sitting in a booth between Harry and Sarah, laughing at a story Adam had been telling. Every now and then she would glance over to Harry just to find his gaze already on her.
Her heart fluttered every time, and if Harry’s cheeks weren’t already flushed from the alcohol, Y/N would have noticed him blush every time they locked eyes as well.
“M’gonna get another drink, does anyone want anything?” Y/N piped up, a resounding chorus of “no, thank you’s” answering her question. Except for Harry who spoke softly, “A beer? Go ahead and put it on my tab.”
She shook her head at him as he stood up to let her out of the maroon leather booth. “Can’t make you pay for that, I offered.” She said, standing to lock eyes with him yet again.
“Nope,” He grinned. “You can, and you will.”
“But-”
“No buts.” He chuckled, giving her a dimpled smile.
Accepting her defeat she nodded and squeezed his arm with a murmured “Thank you.” before making her way to the bar.
Harry sat back down again, eyes trailing her figure as she walked away before looking back at the table to be met with knowing eyes.
“What is it?” He asked, glancing around at everyone.
“You’re whipped, mate.” Charlotte grinned, everyone else nodding in agreement.
“What?! I am not.” Harry pouted, eyes flicking over to Y/N, who was making her way to the table, one drink in each hand, before back to everyone else.
“She’s really sweet H, you should go for it.” Mitch said.
Harry shook his head, eyes now on Mitch. “I’m not interested in her like that, she’s way too young for me, anyways.”
Just then did he hear the soft hit of his beer and her cosmo land on the table. His gaze trailed up her hands to see Y/N’s shattered face. “Here.” She practically whispered to him.
“I just remembered I have an early class tomorrow, so I should go, but thank you guys for inviting me out.” Y/N explained in lighting speed as she leaned over Harry to grab her purse and toss is over her shoulder.
Words of confusion were tossed around the table but she was already booking it out of there, leaving Harry just as devastated as she was.
“I think she heard you, H.” Sarah said, frowning.
Harry let out a muttered “Fuck!” before taking out large bills from his wallet and tossing it on the table. “For my tab, m’sorry, I gotta go.” And he left just as fast as Y/N did, weaving through the tables and people before bursting out the door to see her standing on the street, arm wrapped around her waist and another holding her phone.
“Y/N!”
Her head whipped around to see Harry bustling towards her and she quickly wiped her eye as he approached.
“Wait, don't go,” He said, struggling to find the words. “We all want you to stay, I want you to stay.”
“I have to get to class Harry, plus, I’m too young to be staying out this late anyways.” She grimaced at her own words.
He sighed, eyes flickering from her own to her lips then back again. “I-fuck, you know I didn’t mean it like that.”
This time, she fully turned to face him, brows knitted in distress. “Then how did you mean it? Because honestly I don’t think there is another way to mean it.”
This was his only chance, Harry knew it.
“I just, I tried for so long to tell myself it was wrong to feel this way about you because you’re so much younger than me, and m’pretty sure your father would have my head if he knew but m’fucking infatuated with you, Y/N. M’so sorry I said that earlier, age is my only excuse for not asking you out and it’s not a good enough excuse anymore.”
With this her mouth was gaped like a fish, and her face was akin to a deer caught in headlights. In a flash her arms were wrapped around his neck and he was holding her waist, reveling in her touch.
“Oh, Harry,” She pulled away. “I really like you too.” And with that she pressed a swift kiss to his cheek, leaving him a blushing mess.
“Good, thats... thats good.” He stammered.
“So,” she nudged his arm. “Y’gonna ask me out now?”

[TEASER] Time heals (sometimes) - 14
Summary: 6 years ago, (Y/N) thought that she was finally taking her life into her hands, leaving behind a toxic and abusive relationship with a man who taught her she’d never be worthy of love. However, it became hard to ignore his words when she met her seven soulmates who rejected her without even giving her a chance to prove herself. It took (Y/N) 3 years to realize that it wouldn’t be her end. She would live on to prove them all wrong; she would become what they all thought she wasn’t: someone worthy of love. And as she stands proudly on the stage, under the burning spotlights, the applause and the cries of the delirious crowd, she feels alive. Alive, just like the bond she had believed to be broken.
Pairings: Y/N x OT7
Genre: Soulmate AU!, Idol Y/NAU!, semi social-media AU!, ANGST (mainly), fluff, romance, maybe smut in the series, NSFW.
Should be around 4k maybe 5? Depends on the editing

“How did she even convince you all? Like, I get it for the medical bond part, even if… A lot of it doesn’t make any sense to me for me, but like… How did it even happen without? How did Taehyung even believe she was me? Because If I get it straight, she got you guys the bracelets only the next day, so how… How did it even happen?” Jungkook winced lightly, trying not to be too obvious. He couldn’t feel an accusatory tone in (Y/N)’s voice, he rather heard disbelief, yet it did nothing to soothe his own panic. Her confusion only made sense. Some of the things that happened still made no sense to him.
“Taehyung… never really explained what happened to us. Once the comedy was over, Taehyung just disappeared, he became like a shell of himself because he felt like everything was his fault. The very reason she came to us pretending to be our last soulmate was him. She claimed to love him and to want only him; I think it really hit him since he was the one to bring her home and tell us to trust him.” (Y/N) noted the cautiousness that Jungkook used as he worded his sentence and didn’t use her name. He chose to address her as if she had been a side character, someone in the background as if she hadn’t destroyed their lives and their futures, “it was kind of hard to get him out of his mind, sometimes it still feels like he’s in there, by himself. I’m sure he still thinks everything is his fault. I know he doesn’t fully believe us when we tell him that he couldn’t prevent it more than we could… I think the only thing he told me was that she had been going to some of his seminars yet he had never paid attention to her before she saw his tattoos and showed him hers that were exactly matching.”
“She got them tattooed?” She frowned ever so slightly.
“I think so. I never got around to asking, I must admit that once the fake bond was broken, anything that had, even remotely, a link to her disgusted me. I couldn’t… believe everything that had happened, the simple mention of her or the fake bond made me physically ill.” It made sense, (Y/N) thought. His answer didn’t really help her put all the pieces of the puzzle together, but she could understand that, at least. She would have probably done the same thing. If she were to be honest with herself, she already had, in a way; shutting them off had been her best option to survive. So even if she didn’t understand everything that she had read in Jimin’s diary, she could only nod at his words because she got what he meant by that. However, it didn’t mean that she would stay quiet about the rest of the story either.
“But you really didn’t question the whole thing before? One of your so-called soulmates starts hitting some of your mates, and you didn’t think that maybe something was wrong?” Her voice picked up, and even she was surprised at the intensity of her growing anger. It surprised her to feel that her anger wasn’t really directed at him, as someone who abandoned her before knowing her, but she realized that she was angry about Yoongi being hurt. (Y/N) couldn’t imagine what he went through, and despite everything he did, she didn’t think any of it warranted for him to be hurt so much. (Y/N) didn’t want to feel concerned, she truly didn’t. Yet, a little pang in her heart still resonated because shit, it must have been awful. She shouldn’t feel bad; she had every reason to be mad at them, yet Jungkook’s trembling lips and lost gaze made her breath out and try to think about the issue differently. If she wanted answers about what happened with Yongsun, she would need to be slightly more considerate. She might resent them for everything that happened between them, but she acknowledged that what happened had been traumatic to them. She probably could be an asshole and force him to talk, but she wouldn’t.
“Sorry, that was… A bit unfair of me to say.”
