We've seen DP and DC be different universes where Danny and Valerie are the only heroes in DP, but there are thousands of heroes in DC. We've seen where DP and DC are in the same universe, and Amity Park just thinks the Justice League are ignoring them.
But what if DP and DC are different universes, BUT Danny and Val aren't the only heroes?
If we treat superheroes as basically cops/military with superpowers, then we can infer what heroes would be like using cop/military statistics. You could even use My Hero Academia society as a basis. Things like "heroes are more interested in protecting private property than serving the public" and "Heroes have high levels of PTSD and physical disability and aren't helped after they retire" are common knowledge in Danny's universe.
And specifically, the one I wanted to make clear for this prompt: In Danny's universe, heroes are highly likely to abuse their family/sidekicks outside the mask.
Suddenly, Danny's in the DC universe. For a low-stakes reason; if he's there because the DP universe imploded or his parents tried to kill him, he'd be too concerned about himself to act on his instincts. No, Danny's there for a vacation and there are so many heroes and kid heroes that he feels sick.
Maybe he catches Batman being rough with his kids, or overhears Superman "belittling" Superboy (Conner). Nevertheless...
Danny ends up thinking that all the Justice League are abusing their sidekicks and families and becomes a villain to save them.

i often think that a lot of people facillitating the discussion about the 'necessity' of nesta's intervention always seem to fundamentally misunderstand what exactly is wrong with it
anytime someone shifts the conversation to the 'ends justify the means' ideology- a red flag goes off in my head; anytime someone makes any of these statements...red flag:
"the intervention might have been harsh but.."
"even though the inner circle could have done things better...
"the ic don't owe nesta anything..."
"nesta treated feyre badly so she deserves...."
"feyre cares about nesta and her intentions were good..."
"nesta did xyz to feyre, so its only right..."
because...these statements (and those adjacent to them), always seem to misrepresent what the problem is. its one thing for the inner circle to cut nesta off, for mor and rhys to hate rhys, for feyre to want to get revenge; its an entirely different scenario for the inner circle to put themselves personally in charge of nesta's wellbeing. like....they staged an intervention, they locked her in a house and did not allow to leave without an escort, the tore down her home, they locked in a home with a man she verbally and consistently reiterated she wanted nothing with.
one thing people consistently refuse to acknowledge is the fact that there is quite literally a tangible power imbalance between feyre and her sisters. feyre is literally the governing body of the entirety of the night court; her sisters....are her sisters. silver flames confirmed (and proved to me) that feyre does have tangible, official power over sisters. if feyre says, "you have to be locked in this house with this man," her sisters have no choice but to comply. if feyre says "you're banished," then elain would just be banished. nesta would be banished. and this why i've always said that feyre's function as an eternal victim is undermined by her position in the story.
and this is the kind of power imbalance i have often cited between feyre and rhys and feyre/tamlin. its the natural deference that forms between a subordinate and their superior. its not inherently negative (see: mentor/mentee; teacher/student; manager/employee) but it does mean that people in power have to be cognizant because it is often easy to fall into abusive/imbalanced roles. feyre cannot be nesta's sister and high lady through the intervention; she's either a concerned sister, or the high lady. ordering nesta as her high lady and as her sister mean two different things. feyre establishes herself as high lady in that meeting; she establishes to nesta that the intention of the invention was political in nature.
feyre isn't deferring to an professional who can properly help nesta; she (and the ic) are quite literally assuming the role of the professional. even if we did argue for the necessity of an intervention, that entails consulting and deferring to what they (the professional) outline is the best measure. its still facillitated...through the professional. and by doing that they are inherently consenting to the fact that that person is (1) a subordinate (2) their responsibility. we can't argue for the necessity of a extreme measure - and then in the same breath deny the resposiblities that entails. we can't justify the intervention by saying its the equivalent of a mental health facility and then say the people responsible somehow don't have a responsibility to the person who is essentially forced into being a patient by their standards. and then also claim they owe that person nothing.
and even then - then we have to think about the validity of the house of wind's equivalecy to a mental health facility. because (1) it's nesta that empowers the home, not feyre. its only welcoming because nesta...made it welcoming. its only caring because nesta made it caring. (2) feyre still makes nesta go on missions in her stead. nesta is sexually assaulted twice on said missions. she literally pimps nesta out to eris during her imprisionment. nesta is not getting paid, and she's only allowed to leave the house of wind during these moments. so even that comparison doesn't justify what feyre makes nesta do. she can't be in the equivalent of psychiatric facility and then be coerced into situations she has verbally expressed she does not want to do and that terrify her. we also have to think about the fact that feyre was absolutely down and allowed her sister to be locked up with another male who everyone knew was her mate; who nesta verbally rejected multiple times.
feyre is making the sister that she deemed was so mentally ill that she could not support herself then complete the tasks of a high lady? like how are justifying that? you can't say "this person has a debilitating addiction, therefore, she needs to be locked into a home, escorted, and policed" and then argue that this is the same person who should complete tasks that should be the high lady's job.
like what made tamlin abusive?
it wasn't being a concerned lover. it was that he assumes (and takes advantage of) the position of a high lord over feyre. we know whar tamlin's "intentions" were; he wanted to protect feyre. but how does he protect feyre....by presiding over her as her high lord not consulting her as her lover. a high lord can lock her in the house, restrict her access to his state, refuse to pay her. and again - the concerned lover and the abuser can absolutely co-exist. the 'good intentioned' sister or lover can still be an abuser.
we can acknowledge feyre's position as high lady, but that also comes with the responsibility of managing how you represent your power. the intervention is abusive. and illegal. and impractical. like even if you argue that "nesta heal" that doesn't change the fact that (1) nesta is fictional - of course she "benefits." writing that a character 'heals' from abuse doesn't negate that it is abuse. (2) if feyre had 'healed' under tamlin...he would have still been abusive.
its just very tiring when these conversation focus on the characters and not the frameworks behind them. nesta could have been the nastiest person to ever walk the earth and the intervention and the the behaviors thereafter are still indicative of abuse. and if the ic did not like nesta or could not tolerate for her she treated then they should have not have the power to enact extreme measures like an intervention and lock up.

1. Eyyyy it's me boyfriend XD (eyyyyy hello again 😊 - Mod C)
I'm here for a fic (I think it's a time travel fic) that I forgot the name of. All I remember is a scene where a village in Lotus Pier was flooded and Yanli, Jiang Cheng, and Wei Ying went to aid the people. Lan Zhan and Jin Zixuan also tagged along but Lan Zhan is openly courting Wei Ying on that fic while Jin Zixuan is being himself
And that's sadly all that I remember 😔. Thank you!
FOUND? This is probably a stretch but #1 isnt And Time Is But a Paper Moon by sami (M, 139k, WangXian, XiChengQing, Time Travel, Fix-It, Everyone Lives/Nobody Dies, Healing, Mental Health Issues, PTSD, Hurt/Comfort, Depression, BAMF WWX, BAMF JC, BAMF LWJ, BAMF JYL, Getting Together), is it?
~*~
2. There was this fic I read sometime ago and it was about how lan Wangji accidentally uses silencing spell on wwx too hard that wwx isn't able to open his mouth again and lan Wangji isn't able to lift the spell. It's during the cloud recesses study arc and the major issues with the permanent silencing spell is that Wei Wuxian isn't able to even eat anything and he can't practice inedia fir long. Please find this fic?

4. Brain cannot brain rn so I need you guys' help finding a fic
So like, it was a Canon divergent fic where wwx submitted himself to the clans and was ordered to be cleansed of resentful energy in order to... prove he wasn't corrupted? Something like that? For the Wens? And it was ritual dual cultivation. He was sent blindfolded to a room so he couldn't tell who it would be (it was lwj, of course.) Wwx knew it wouldn't exactly work cuz he didn't have a core, but he did it anyway.
There was a second.... part? Chapter? The was from Lwj's pov of after, where he finds out about the core, then JC? A Jiang disciple? Shows up to tell them to get their asses to the conference hall because JGS is being JGS and this whole thing was mostly just a distraction
That's all I can remember, thanks for the help!
Hi 👋 4 from the latest fic finder, a friend on discord found the fic I was looking for! It was 'the meaning of the ritual' by newamsterdam

Jiang Fengmian is the Chief Cultivator and comes to talk to Jiang Cheng. They're talking in Nie Huaisang's room and he and Lan Xichen are standing outside it. Jin Zixuan walks by talking loudly about Jiang Yanli in a really rude way and Jiang Fengmian hears him and comes out to confront him. Any help would be appreciated!

9. Hello, I am looking for a fic where Wei Wuxian is not brought into the body of Mo Xuanyu. Rather a random cultivator does the ritual instead as revenge for killing his family in the nightless city. His terms are for Wei Wuxian to despair, so naturally WWX finds Lan Wangji and falls in love only for the ritual wounds to start trying to kill him for not despairing. He nearly loses his arm before they figure out how to save him. Happy ending.
There's also a few bits about WWX trying to get the sword of his body's og owner to come around and work with him. @shinyobsessed

10. Hi! Can someone help me find this fic, please?
Lan Wangji is a post-war-soldier and nowadays is actually helping people to adopt a therapeutic “bunnie”. A man named Wei Ying goes there trying to find a bunnie to adopt, lwj get supper mad because this “man” is loud and disastrous and ask (order) him to go out of there. Later he learns with lxc that “Wei Ying” is actually Wei Wuxian, one of the most dangerous people from the war.
Lwj gets sad about his treatment towards wwx, because both of them are very traumatized by the war. That’s the beginning for their future relationship. It’s setting in modern setting too.
Thank you! @weicongee

It was a Canon divergence AU, WWX thought Something Was Probably Up when he got the invite to JL's one month celebration so went in disguise as a woman, and the first line was him hitting on LWJ, who obviously twigged almost right away and took him to an inn, and that was all I got to.

17. Hi, I'm not sure if this is how this works. If I'm doing it wrong please let me know.
I've been looking everywhere for a story where Wei Ying is a reincarnated phoenix and doesn't know it. He eventually finds out and because of everything he goes through, he's taken over by the pheonix, and the firebird part of him wants to destroy the world.
I remember the sects locked him in the Gusu caves while they tried to find out how to control him.
Eventually Lan Zhan figures out a loophole where the Phoenix/firebird agrees to hold off until Lan Zhan dies...and then Lan Zhan cultivates immortality as a loophole. I remember it was on AO3 and was complete.
I'd be grateful for any help you guys could give me. @vitolieltrue

I have a c!rivals question for you: lore-wise,how do think the prison break affected their bond? Techno owed dream a favor, which is part of why he helped break him out (that and he also knew it was terrible) but the situation becomes urgent when his good friend ranboo gets involved and later killed during it all, which dream did nothing to stop, and left them both behind.
I mean it's obvious there was some kind of tension between them after but I wanted your opinion as the c!rivals expert
okay we have to preface this immediately with the acknowledgement that there were likely things planned after this that never panned out for obvious reasons. i can't 100% say what would or wouldn't have happened, i can only give my opinion based on lore/canon.
with that said, the thing with c!ranboo is a case of...
c!dream is traumatized. he wants to get out of there, of the place he's been tortured and abused. they're surrounded by a lot of people who hate him. and he can revive people! he wants out. it's understandable.
and c!techno is suddenly in a situation where one of his very closest friends, someone who he feels responsible for based on previous lore, is being held hostage. you can hear in his voice that he's panicked, he's not thinking straight.
but i do want to point out that c!dream didn't leave.
he stayed there, the whole time. he was begging techno to leave, yes, but he never actually left techno even in that situation. and honestly? it would've been understandable if he had run for the whole 'trying to escape from where he was tortured and abused' thing. but he didn't.
they leave together.
after, at the cabins, techno is definitely short with dream. which is also understandable because he just lost his friend and mentee! i'm never gonna think poorly of techno for that, not when he's grieving.
if you look at the events that follow that, however, with c!dream jumping from one person's stream to another, from a doylist/meta standpoint, the lack of armor and then meeting c!punz and regaining armor kinda makes for a more understandable to follow timeline.
plus, c!techno kicking dream out was a very public thing which kinda makes sense because one.) dream has to meet with punz as per their plan and two.) the first place everyone is gonna look for dream is at techno's cabin.
but hey! now there's clear witnesses to state that dream definitely isn't there.
and there's also witnesses to dream giving techno the axe of peace back which is another key thing i think a lot of people tend to forget about. it's a very public 'squaring up' of all the possible favors that they might owe each other.
anyway. the thing is, i've seen this before with c!dream. everyone remembers 'you should've paid me more'.
when things become theatrical and public with dream, i start looking a little deeper.

I've seen a few people talking about how Barry and Wally's parent/child relationship now that they're both adults is unhealthily codependent and that Barry's the cause of Wally's daddy issues and need for therapy, and Wally being better than him now gave Barry an inferiority complex and suicidal tendencies. Can we get some panels showing this side of their relationship?
No? Because the panels don't exist.
There isn't anything 'unhealthily codependent' about their relationship? Codependency is when people in a relationship are so dependent that they struggle to make decisions without input, don't consider their own wants or needs, and try to control the other person's life. Codependency usually involves living together/near constant contact and communication.
And none of that is even remotely applicable to Barry and Wally. At any point in their lives.
Let's be real here, Barry gave Wally more freedom as a child than literally any other mentor. Barry's whole mentor philosophy was letting Wally forge his own path and giving advice when Wally asked for it. Wally did his own nightly patrol. Wally did his own missions. Wally fought his own battles.
And when he asked for help? Barry was there in a heartbeat.
What that does is foster independent thinking and self-sufficiency. Wally was allowed to become his own hero in a controlled environment. If things ever got really bad then Barry would be there, but for the most part Barry was just moral support.
And Barry died when Wally was 19. Wally did the majority of his Flash career without Barry. Honestly, if Barry hadn't given Wally the tools and opportunities to build such a strong foundation as a kid, then I don't think Wally would have survived long as the Flash. It's a testament to Barry's mentorship that a 19 year old kid could step into the shoes of an experienced hero and uphold that legacy without stumbling.
And even in current comics, with Barry and Wally both back and interacting, there isn't any codependency. Like. At all. They both have their own separate lives. Being family and doing family bonding activities and meeting up on the job isn't codependency, that's kinda just how healthy relationships work? You spend time together.
Also not really sure why it'd be fine when Wally was a kid but weird now that he's an adult? People don't just cut contact with their parents and older relatives when they hit 18. That's... not a thing. "Sorry, mom and dad. I love you but I'm an adult now so I can never see you again or it'd be weird. Goodbye forever."
As for Wally's daddy issues, why the fuck would anyone but Rudy be to blame for that? The man abused his son, tried to murder his mother, tried to sell him to a cult, hired assassins to beat and kidnap him, started a child labor camp with landmines, ect, ect. Barry actually being a father figure in his life helped fix the issues that Rudy created.
Also also. Barry is nothing but thrilled about what Wally has accomplished in life. Because he's a proud father.
There was a brief period of time where Eobard Thawne brainwashed Barry and Wally to make them fight all the time. People sometimes point to that and say that their relationship has issues. But they were actively brainwashed?? And not in their right state of mind because Thawne wanted them at each other's throats. And they immediately apologized to each other when they broke free. So. Not really a great argument tbh.
But yeah, TLDR: Wally does need therapy but not because of Barry and Barry does have suicidal tendencies but not because of Wally. Their relationship is only 'unhealthily codependent' if you don't know what those two words mean and made up new definitions for them. They are probably the most normal, healthy and successful mentor/mentee relationship in all of comics.

I'm sorry girlies but I just DO NOT get Darlington's appeal. He's a fine character, maybe it's just the lesbian in me, but him and Alex seem SO FORCED. Plus it's a "slow burn" but we know what the fuck you're gonna do Bardugo!! Idk it's just so forced, ntm they've barely spent anytime together because Dumbass Darlington walked into monster month (and his last thoughts were blaming Alex for it, lmfaoo). And the interaction they do have together is dull, sorry! Alex is such a cool character and she has more chemistry with literally EVERYONE ELSE in the cast.
I mean just look at the descent in Hell Bent where we get a backstory of all the characters. Pamela Dawes isn't loud and out-of-this-world like most Bardugo characters. She feels so realistic, but is still so interesting. We see how she has crippling anxiety from developing too fast, how she hides behind her academia, how she's torn up about killing Blake. She's so understated but so real and relatable for it.
We see how Turner struggles with being a cop and trying to be a bastard, how he literally killed his mentee for what he believes in, how he tries to be a fighter for good and his people in a world that rewards him for doing the opposite. Even his spirituality is handled respectfully and he's just a really well done character.
Then we have Tripp, we've all met a Tripp, all the privilege in the world but you can't even hate him for it cause he's been too sheltered to ever develop a mean bone in his body. Except we see how he dealt with abuse from his cousin all his life. We see how Spenser just gets away with it, and I empathized with Tripp when he let Spenser die. (Which btw he's not technically a murderer for that but WHATEVER LEIGH) After the descent I did a full 180 on his character!
And Mercy is so fun. She's not familiar with the world of magic and looks at it with hopeful-Harry-Potter-fan eyes, she's like a conduit for the reader in a way the jaded Alex can't be. But also if you think about her backstory is VERY dark. She was violated in the most horrible way by this magic before she even knew it existed. And now she wants to harness that same magic so she's never put in that position again. She kills a man because Alex tells her to, because she thinks this is some sort of Hogwarts adventure. And then at the end of the book you see grasp what Lethe is, and her tension with Alex is *chef's kiss* so good!
Ughh and thenn we have Darlington...what's Darlington's big murderer moment? The thing that made him eligible for a scholarship at Demon University? He *checks notes* pulled the life support on his dying geriatric grandpa at the man's own request....okayy. Surely there's something else? Well you see Darlington's always wanted to believe in magic! Just like all of us! It's like he's trying to hard to represent us fantasy readers, but by the second book Mercy already accomplishes this and does it better. And I guess you can say he had neglectful parents but it's just handled so unrealistically I couldn't believe it. 1. Once the grandpa was dead and Darlington was a minor his parents could have easily torn down that shitty house. 2. Darlington would legally belong to them, they wouldn't have to turn off the electricity to freeze him out of the house, they could call CPS who would bust down the doors and give him to his parents. 3. His whole backstory relies on a crusty house?? Really?? 4. I'm tired of the poor little rich boy trope. I'd rather have characters like Tripp, yes they've had their own struggles but wealth has shielded them, instead of unrealistic characters like Darlington. It's even worse because Leigh tries to frame Alex's and Darlington's childhood as "two sides of the same coin' when it's not that at all!
And you'd think Demon Danny would have a little spice but, no? I guess he enjoyed punishing people and making them suffer (told, not show) and he has urges to do it again? But more importantly we need to know that he REALLY REALLY wants to fuck Alex. Also he will serve Alex TiL tHe EnD oF dAyS! He's also her personal slave now and she can make him do whatever. Demon Danny is starting to feel like a fetish, okay? IT'S. SO. FORCED. They barely had any chemistry before the dumbass walked straight into Hell, but I see why Alex's destructive nature would put her on a suicide mission for his rescue. But now he's dreaming about her in his perfect future? They're cosmically connected to each other? It's so funny because they are both way closer to Pamela Dawes but just fuck her I guess.
Anyway I think Darlington lacks substance and he's not good enough for Alex BUT i'm hoping I'll like him more in book 3. Can any Darlington fans give me your interpretation of the character and why you like him? I really don't like feeling this way since he's such a big part of the story and sometimes a different analysis is all you need. As of right now he's the embodiment "Go girl! Give us nothing!" for me.

Hello, Hamliet.... is it true that the Bible said homosexuals should be punish in new testament? If I'm not wrong remembered (yes, I'm from christian household) is it not that king david have 'special feelings' for jonathan?
My mother has really strong belief in religion (christianity) and she is an anti-LGBTQ+. But do you believe that her brother (my uncle) who is definitely a queer (wear make up, dresses really feminely, and sometimes called himself as she, never married until he's in sixties), my mother said he is normal ?????
That's why I want to know more about LGBTQ+ (eventhough in my country it is still a taboo topic).
Do you think it's weird Hamliet, if I prefer to read mlm & wlw instead of het romance? I just felt fed up with reading or watching het romance (wlm)....
Thanks to you Hamliet, I know more about myself, eventhough there are still a bit if feeling guilty every time I read or watch LGBTQ+ contents....
No, it doesn't say it should be punished in the New Testament.
It does get mentioned once, arguably three times, but really for certain once, and that context has nothing to do with punishment.
I'm going to give a very bare bones explanation of my understanding of it below! There are also lots of theology papers on it and I'm like, skimming the surface here.
The arguable ones lists a word that is often translated as "homosexuality" in a list of sins that "won't inherit the kingdom of God." However, the two words that get translated as such need more looking at.
One is always translated literally as "softness," but is always used in reference to prostitution. Most likely (given the letters it appears to and the communities they were a part of and the prevalence of temple prostitution there) temple prostitution (which should not be thought of as largely consensual in this context, either). There are also some fair arguments based on the words used and the known history of these cities that it's referring to ritual p*do abuse of children.
The other of the Greek words that gets translated as such is extremely unusual. So unusual that it's never seen elsewhere.
Yeah. It's a made-up word.
Now, the word arsenokoitēs certainly had meaning to the specific community to which the letter it appears in is addressed, but it's not like a word that can be translated with 100% certainty. What we do know for certain is that parts of the word are taken from words that refer to "men" and "bed/sex." So I see why people translate it that way. The thing is, though, it occurs in two lists, and these lists consist of issues concerning idolatry and slave dealers. Hence, the context strongly indicates that it's condemning some form of exploitation involving men who have sex with males.
The larger historical/cultural context also indicates this. If you read ancient Greek texts, like, say, Plato's Symposium, you'll get a very distinct view of exactly which same-sex relationships were normalized in those days, and you'll also be somewhat horrified. Basically the idea was that mentors (adult men) would mentor teenager boys, and the teen boys would be receptive to the adult man having sex with them. Does it sound creepy and exploitative? Because it is!
Yes, even for the time period. It isn't unique. Julius Caesar--yes, THE Julius Caesar--had to deal with rumors that he was one of those boys to an older mentee (Nicomedes). Because clearly, being on the receiving end of male-male sex means that you're actually a woman, which as everyone knows is the WORST thing you could possibly be (sarcastic). Anyways, this type of exploitative bs was extremely common, and even back in those days, it was known to be somewhat, y'know, f*cked up.
The other time it's talked about in the NT is in Romans 1, during which the main theme of the passage is that giving yourself over to lust is a bad thing. Paul cites women having sex with women and men with men as examples of overabundance of lust. I think most Christians, even sex-positive ones like myself, would agree that being consumed with lust (or with anything) to where it controls you and you start losing control of your life is unhealthy.
Now, that said, you can make an argument that Paul's view seems to be that homosexual tendencies stem from over abundance. But we know that's not true nowadays. And that gets into how you read the Bible as a whole.
I love the Bible. I see it as God's word to humanity, divinely inspired. I also think that to truly see it as God's word, you have to acknowledge what it is.
It's literature.
That doesn't mean it's fiction or whatever. It just means that God chose literature as a means to communicate with human beings, and that means that God knew that the whole point of literature is that people wrestle with the concepts and debate the themes. It enhances my respect of Scripture and my love of God to do precisely this, to dig into the text and its historical context and discover the timeless themes. To call it "inerrant" where every word can be taken out of context and seen as a command does a disservice to the writers God used to craft poetry, histories, stories, measurements, and letters to friends. To view the Bible as God when the Bible itself says that Jesus is the Word of God personified misses the forest for the trees, the spirit of the law for the letter.
The other really cool thing that genuinely excites me about Christianity is that God works with human beings. Individuals, yes, but also communities. He works within cultures, too. Despite modern evangelicals claiming "No Compromise!" Scripture is FULL of God compromising with humans, bargaining with them, accepting that they are flawed and working with us. He worked within human limits so much he became one to save us from death; it's kinda the premise!
So, God working to deliver his very message to us through human writers of literature is kind of amazing to me, awe-inspiring. But that also means human beings are limited by what we know and our own time periods, our own cultures. And, that's okay. Yes, keep working to do better, but it means that we can have grace for ourselves and one another. Even now, when we know a lot more about the world as a whole, we are still very limited by our own experiences, cultures, and time period. There's this attitude that modernity has reached the stage of ultimate enlightenment and boy have we not.
Hence, yeah, Paul's writing in Romans 1 especially might be kinda homophobic by today's standards. The ultimate premise--don't let yourself be under anything else's control--is a good one, but him using homosexuality as an example as if potentially all of it emerges from lust is not exactly woke, but also not necessarily abnormal for his time period and his culture. He's a flawed human being, after all, but God himself still worked with him to do some pretty great stuff, and to write some pretty cool letters that still have beautiful resonance today (the love passage in Corinthians? That's him!)
(Also, funnily enough, people--even the strictest evangelicals--actually do accept this about Paul and culture when he's writing about slavery. Because Paul doesn't endorse slavery and instructs masters to be kind to their slaves and treat them well, but he doesn't outright say "you're sinning by owning slaves" whereas today we'd definitely think that. Funny how that doesn't apply to gay people though.)
Lastly, your mom sounds like my mom. She claims she thinks it's a sin because she believes the Bible says so, but she genuinely is happy for friends who are gay and happily married and wishes them well. It's like she feels she has to believe it, not that she actually does in her core. And of course that's not an excuse, and I would never tell a gay person they should not be upset with her. Even within our modern cultures, it can be hard to unlearn things too especially if you grew up in such environments.
But reading mlm or wlw stories is actually a great tool for helping people empathize with others. Fiction absolutely helped me leave the cult I was raised in. I don't think it's inherently weird at all; curiosity exists, empathy exists, good stories exist, and also there's something to be said about people who exist in cultures that are very non-accepting seeing themselves in stories where a relationship that might often be condemned is accepted. Even if the person is straight and cis, they might have parts of themselves they see as something society would hate, and so they see themselves in the characters.
Oh actually, the real last lastly. Jonathan and David. Er... yeah. I mean, yes, people do have extremely close, extremely intimate, brotherly platonic friendships, even between men. But their relationship is certainly up for interpretation considering they literally refer to each other as having love for them that is "better than that of women." The words and phrasing used mirror those used in like, the Iliad to describe Achilles and Patroclus, and Gilgamesh between Gilgamesh and Enkidu.
David also married Jonathan's sister and didn't treat her very well, but did go out of his way to protect Jonathan's own children. Also, there are several other passages where the ancient Hebrew used could contain sexual nuances, although it doesn't necessarily have to. You can't definitively state either way what it is--the writers clearly wrote in plausible deniability. Still, there's enough to raise eyebrows even within that old ancient context that, whether or not it was ever physical, Jonathan and David were not platonic.
(Personally? David invented the Disaster Bisexual archetype.)

HEEYYYYY
Think about it. A mafia setting. The boss (a doctor) had taken in a child who became the Demon Prodigy and the youngest mafia executive at 15. He's a genius okay. But the boss has abused him, tortured him and had him subjected to such training also using mefical ministrations on him almost on a daily basis. Now this boy takes in another child. He is 17, the child he decided to protect was 15. This right hand (demon prodigy) begged the boss to keep the child alive because he would make a good asset to the mafia and that he would train him himself. So he trains the boy brutally, which makes him land up in the infirmary almost after every session. The prodigy's partner, the boy, everyone think he is so harsh and too brital with him. But boss isn't satisfied and asks him along with his mentee to come to his office. The mentee for the first time sees his brutal, cruel, stoic mentor on his knees bowing submissively. Thr boss takes his prodigy's clothes off, and the mantee sees the scars littering his mentors body. No matter how cruel or harsh, his mentor had never left scars on him. He watched as the boss whipped his mentor. He vould do nothing. The prodigy quietly took everything regardless of feeling the gaze of his mentee on him. He tells him after the punishment session that this should never leave the room and should absolutely not reach his partner's ears.
I know its a lil confusing so here are the characters again
1. Boss is also the doctor
2. Demon Prodigy/Mentor/ Right Hand are the same person
3. Partner is Prodigy's partner.
4. Mentee is the boy Prodigy took in and trained.
A cookie for you thoughts? 🍪💜
HEYYYY PORSCHE!
This is… so much and I love it. I absolutely love when mentors get whumped, especially after pushing their mentee hard. Also mafia setting? Yes. I never really liked mafia stuff (esp now that it’s a popular TikTok trope) but it has been growing on me, all that honour and ranking stuff, plus all the crime! This is all so good I’m running off into the dark with this in my teeth!
You get so many cookies! 🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪

Ok so god, imagine IF Izzy had actually been written as a mentor/father figure for Ed.
What we actually got in the show (and which I loved) was unrequited romantic love/sexual attraction from Izzy towards Ed, and a very clear dynamic between them with Ed as the revered leader and Izzy as the loyal follower who Ed treated more like an object/tool than a person. I personally love how Izzy was written as unhealthily obsessed with Ed, and how Ed was written as just taking that loyalty for granted.
But let's play around here.
Because like. Ed killed his dad. That's how Ed's life started: as an abused child who killed his father. And in the end, Ed is begging Izzy to kill him. And in a way, Izzy does. Izzy shoots Ed, allowing the crew to capture and smash his head in.
The parallels here could have been REALLY FUCKING TRAGIC, especially if Izzy KNEW Ed's past and that he killed his father. Imagine if he knew, and took Ed on specifically because of that!
Killed abusive father -> Gains positive father figure -> Becomes abusive -> Killed by positive father figure
THAT would have been excellent circular storytelling. Imagine Izzy's pain, as he thought to himself that he failed Ed as a father, that he failed to end the cycle of abuse despite how hard he tried. And now he's watching more "children" (the crew) killing their abuser.
And like, we do get aspects of this - Ed is absolutely going though his part of this arc. He knew from childhood experience and from his experiences as a pirate that if you're cruel enough, someone will end you. That's what he wanted, because he was hurting and in pain. And that's tragic.
From the show as it was written, from Izzy's pov we feel the pain of a loyal sidekick realizing the leader they idolized has become a monster that needs to be slayed, which is no less tragic. But there's one crucial detail: Izzy doesn't know Ed killed his father. He's just seeing a man he loved become a monster like so many other pirates.
We didn't see a mentor/mentee relationship because DJenkins wasn't writing a mentor/mentee relationship. And I genuinely don't think a lot of Izzy's characterization as written would have worked if he was supposed to be a mentor. Because he's not treated with any gravitas by anyone else, including Ed. Ed never asks Izzy for advice. Everyone treats Izzy like the CEO's annoying nepotism hire who you're supposed to respect but you don't. Izzy's weird fun sexual tension with the crew would've been very uncomfortable if he'd actually had any authority. But he was treated as a joke, because he WAS a joke. And that's ok!!! It made sense! He was no one without Ed's authority behind him and the instant Ed was gone the crew tried to chuck him overboard. That's not a mentor/father figure. That's the annoying second in command everyone tolerates because the boss is actually scary.
And Izzy's entire s2 arc is crawling out from beneath the shadow of Ed, standing on his own foot, and becoming a whole person with ACTUAL respect and authority that isn't defined by being Ed's second in command.
Again. That's not a mentor/father figure plot.
DJenks was apparently unaware that he was writing a leader/loyal subordinate situation. Who knows what kind of dynamic he thought he was writing. He fully admitted he didn't realize Izzy's death could be written as a "death of the mentor" trope until right at the end. Izzy was always going to die, but he didn't have any reason why he was dying, which I think we can all agree is a big part of why it didn't work.

~ 🐈‍⬛ <3
No no no don't give me any training whump I love those so much you'll give me ideas :)
Boss knows the limits of the body too well for the prodigy to get a break. Sick? They can go on until their fever became dangerous. Bleeding out? Boss knows that they still have time. Exhausted? Hydrate and continue. Everything will be patched up personally after the training. A neverending cycle of being hurt and treated but never severe enough to compromise them in the field.
Over the years, perhaps the prodigy wanted only one thing from the boss. They hadn't begged for their own, but they readily begged for the life of their mentee. They were desperate to ensure the mentee's survival, maybe because they saw so much of themselves in the mentee, or maybe simply because they didn't want the child to die.
And they kept the child alive with the only way they knew. But they weren't boss, they didn't know the limits too well. At least from experience, they knew what would scar or not. So they tried to train mentee, and they also tried not to mark mentee. Mentee wasn't theirs. Not the way they were boss'.
But as always, the boss wasn't pleased with the prodigy. And boss now had another excuse, mentee, to punch the prodigy. It's not really apparent to mentee until the boss decides that mentee has to learn what happened when one failed to use the given chance.
I have a feeling that mentee will be crying in partners' arms about what's happening to prodigy, which will soften partner's opinion about prodigy. Partner may try to make subtle attempts to soothe prodigy or go confront prodigy directly. In any way, prodigy will feel betrayed by mentee for that.

sorry i'm actually still on that castlevania brainrot, with a big big focus on CoD since i've been re-playing it in my free time, but felt like i was being too annoying about it between simping for Hector in a way i have not publicly done for any other blorbo and bitching about netflixvania lmao
now that i've had some time to let my thoughts Stew and Simmer, and after consuming whatever Hector-centric fan content i can get my greedy little hands on, i got some Thoughts on all the pairings i've come across, and put together my as-of-now takes on them:
• CV: CoD Hector/Isaac - yes! THE ship of all time! versatile, but however you ship them, They Are Each Other's Whole World!!! they're best friends at minimum (at least before Hec's betrayal) and hell yes they're fooling around with each other - they're 2 dudes in their early 20s who grew up together, literally have no one else and probably spend damn near 24/7 together as a result of their living situation/jobs. is it a casual friends with benefits thing? are they romantically involved and devoted to each other? work besties? mentor mentee kinda thing? is it mutually toxic and/or abusive? friendly rivalry? bitter enemies til the end? it all works! the beauty of the canon not being set means theres so much room for interpretation, but i don't think hector or isaac would be as broken up as they are if they didn't feel something for each other. for me, it all tracks and part of the fun is seeing new ways to interpret their dynamic (except no one makes content for their game counterparts anymore after netflixvania 😢)
• Netflixvania!Hector/Isaac - sorry but i just can't get on board the Forgehusbands thing here. in this version, the most chemistry they have is barely tolerating each other as colleagues. its not even animosity, just straight up indifference. then hector spends some months in his own personal hell being Lenores plaything probably just trying to not lose his sanity while isaac is thousands of miles away consumed by the thought of revenge but otherwise living it up. Issac doesnt even really save Hector in the end…? and idk why but the writers were really pushing a Lenector agenda so there really isn't much of anything to ship here. N!Isaac's too dry and serious about his own misanthropy without any of the mindless, fanatical devotion to Drac's cause CoD!Isaac has, while N!Hector is just. barely a character tbh with how passive and contradicting he feels (and i will CURSE the writers for forever squandering his character when he probably has the most official, coherent material dedicated to explaining his whole deal!!!). there's not much in this canon that drives them towards each other in a way i find compelling, but if someone out there could take on the challenge and actually show how they end up getting together (as friends or romantically) i'd be interested in that! because the current status quo where they're Inexplicably An Item From The Start is a little stale tbh
• Hector/Rosaly - YESSSSSS i love how their relationship is depicted in both PtR and the manga series! (favorite panel of all time: "Oh, you bit right away") i've seen some criticisms of this ship and specifically Rosaly essentially being Lisa 2.0 and a namedropped source of Man Pain™ for all of CoD's intro cutscene before never being mentioned again and. yeah, that's all true. BUT its so soft, and quiet and loving. they really are perfect for each other <3 and it's an interesting parallel for Drac/Lisa, and how Hector doesn't go on a genocidal rampage after losing his beloved in the exact same way, despite his own misanthropy still holding strong. does that say something about Hector's character, or was it all just Death's scheming going exactly as planned?
• Hector/Julia - nnnnooo…. come on man. you cant fuck your ex's (that you killed btw) sister that just so happens to look like your recently deceased wife. who was murdered by aforementioned ex. god the baggage going in all directions here... thankfully, even in canon its only implied at best, if you turn your head and squint. i like 'em as Just Friends, thanks - 2 magic wielders that share a bond through being persecuted by humanity, and for losing a mutual someone they cared for deeply. (side note: wish we saw more of Julia! i love that for what little we got of her, she does seem to mirror Isaac, in ways only siblings who are close can)
• N!Hector/Lenore - no and FUCK no. i actively hate this pairing. the only acceptable interaction between these 2 is Hector staking Lenore through the heart with a smile on his face. and before anyone comes for me, it has NOTHING to do with the fact that it's a m/f ship, because as mentioned above, i adore Hector/Rosaly. it's not even because it's abusive, you CAN write and enjoy darker relationship dynamics but. this just wasn't it. if they were going for an enemies-to-lovers kind of thing, they failed spectacularly at establishing the 'to lovers' part. the only reason i enjoyed their S4 interactions is because it's seemingly the only time in the entire series anyone talks to Hector with any level of respect, even if it was just dumb sex jokes.
• Hector/Alucard - this one surprised me, for simultaneously seeming to hold both statuses as 'squarely defined as a rarepair by most fan's standards' but also 'there were at least a good few pages worth of the Hector Castelavnia tag on Ao3 that was just these 2 as the main pairing'?
not really sure how i feel about this one - i like them as individual characters who have a lot of parallels going on (probably because Hector is supposed to be like an 'improved' version of Alucard from what i've read?)
i like the idea of their netflixvania versions trauma bonding after the shit in S3 because good lord they both need someone who can understand what they've been through. but they don't interact at all in the netflix show, so no dice there imo. under a more cynical lens, my feelings are something like "you only ship these 2 because they're both soft prettyboys you wanna see fucking huh"
if you go by the games canon and lore then they're just about the same age and logically would have interacted at least occasionally in their time at Castlevania but ofc we dont see any of it. theres some ancient fanfics out there that expand on this with alucard, hector, and isaac all being childhood friends before they grew up and had to kinda move into their respective roles and protocol and formality and work kinda made them drift apart and i find those very cute <3
i think this pairing could work honestly, they're both generally kind-hearted albeit tragic souls with a cold disposition who experienced the madness of Castlevania and Dracula's vengeance firsthand. there's gotta be something you can pull outta there. mmmaybe not quite friendship either but.... kindred souls. they have that "prince and his knight" kinda vibe, at least aesthetically, which i can get behind! and i like what i've seen from the exceedingly rare pre-netflixvania fics that exist, and even the netflixvania fanfics are kinda cute (please can we move away from the theme of N!Trevor brutalizing N!Hector out of mistrust just as a chance for N!Alucard to swoop in and save him? shit is damn near ubiquitous even in my very brief time exploring)
• Hector/Trevor - (i should specify i'm referring to their games versions exclusively here. N!Trevor isn't even aware of N!Hector's existence afaik) i dig it, there's just the very inconvenient fact that Trevor's supposed to be married to Sypha lol. and i dont really see a trephacard type of situation happening here (not that im crazy for trephacard now that i mention it. it's cute, it's wholesome but eh, not much substance to it? im realizing i like my ships with a pinch of tension)
so much comedic potential! a fun ship to entertain, but i feel like no one seems to make any content that captures their dynamic well. so ultimately this is a "the best ship is friendship" type of relationship for me. i have a headcanon that Trevor tries, really, really tries, to reach out and befriend Hector post-CoD in a way he might not for other people, out of guilt and concern he'd end up like Adrian (except at least Adrian has the option to wake up and rejoin the world, if he felt like he was finally ready someday. Hector, for all his demonic powers, is still very much human and is shown not once, but twice, ready to let himself go peacefully from this world because he just can't envision a future for himself after Castlevania and losing everything that's important to him. and i generally just like Trevor being a Genuinely Good Person, despite being a bit of a pompous hot-head. miss me with whatever netflixvania was going for)
• Hector/Dracula - ….okay so a certain tumblr user's AU got to me and i do enjoy how dark and fucked up this is <33 and thats pretty much exclusively how i view this ship - always a power imbalance, never wholesome. that's all i have to say about it, don't really wanna go into specifics and squick anyone out but uhh yeah. it's not pretty lmao

Some more brainstorming abt my Amnesia Modern AU
We already know I hit Daniel with the transgenderfication beam and he still had a shitty childhood so there's that. This time i tried to flesh out how his relationships with all the other characters would be.
Like for example Alexander, I've decided to stick to the mentor/mentee dynamic they already kind of had in the original. It's basic but the most likely way for this to happen is if Alexander was a professor at Daniel's University since Daniel is a student attending a German University for his bachelor's in history. And they get to talking in private and it simply clicks between them and Daniel goes "you are my dad. You're my dad! Boogie woogie woogie!"
For Elise she simply lives in a village and runs away from home bcs of her shitty life and her shitty dad and that's how she and Daniel meet bcs eventually Elise reaches the city and Daniel finds her. It's really late at night so Daniel is like "Yo who left this baby here"
But Daniel does notice that Elise is visibly bruised and hurt bcs just before she ran away her father beat her. At first Daniel wanted to find her parents again but when Elise begs him not to it's instant abuse victim to abuse victim communication and he immediately knows what's going on. Daniel has like absolutely no clue what to do. He decides to take her with him home first before calling a hotline because it's cold and it's late at night and it might take a while for help to arrive. Of course Elise knows abt stranger danger and to never ever follow someone into their home but she's kinda out of options here and really fucking lucky that Daniel isn't an awful person.
Daniel, as a broke university student tm is only able to give her instant noodles and sparkly water and also patches her up a bit before before calling a hotline where he's instructed to bring Elise to a designated child protection facility for abuse victims. Funnily enough Elise would kinda see Daniel as a new father figure from that point forward and after being In a safe place she'd visit Daniel very often.
But yeh here's what I got so far for the modern AU :3
(Also I still have yet to come up for a surname for Daniel that would fit the modern setting mehhh... >:T I'm open for ideas!!!)

random thought. whenever i read g stans anti elriel arguments it seems that they have never read ANY book before (let alone a romance book) because their arguments are so stupid? they debunk elriel by saying 'its only lust!!!' as if smut/NA books dont exist, 'oh he has feelings for her? he didnt admit that to rhys' as if Romantic Heroes™ admit their feelings before their own book and to someone who isnt their LI, 'hes toxic and abusive and controlling' as if Romantic Heroes™ arent shown to be over-protective in books, 'he hasn't planned anything for their future!!' as if Emotionally Stunted Romantic Heroes™ in books dont fall in love involuntarily and against their judgement, 'his thoughts about her are VULGAR' as if sex and love don't coexist, 'he's just jealous of rhys, cas and lucien he doesn't really want her' as if Jealousy™ and Envy™ isn't the most common thing in romance, 'they (mostly she) don't have enough development to have a book' as if development and progress doesnt happen in their own book itself, 'they are so different from each other' as if Opposites Attract™/Grumpy+Sunshine™/Bad Boy+Good Girl™ aren't the most popular tropes in romance genre (clearly these ppl did not have the 2014 wattpad phase), 'az needs therapy before he can be in a relationship' as if Damaged Romantic Heroes™ arent themost in-demand type of characters since centuries, 'his shadows disappear around her they hate her so no elriel' as if shadows (not just in sjm universe) don't have negative connotations, 'well rhys said no and az have the necklace to gw¥n so elriel isn't happening' as if Forbidden Love™ and Misunderstanding™ arent the OVERLY USED conflicts in books, 'g amuses a and makes him laugh and a looks at her with admiration' almost as if mentor/mentee can't have a cordial relationship w/o romantic connotations just because they are m/f, 'e hasn't rejected the bond so eluci£n is a possibility' again, conflict and why tf will she reject it in her sisters' book, 'they don't have any conversations together, all they do is sit quietly and glance at e/o' as if Slowburn™ and Yearning™ doesn't make the all types of audience go feral, '3 brothers 3 sisters is too cliche and obvious' well let me surprise you by revealing what is the genre of acotar books wait for it hold on wait.....GASP its Romance™! and what is romance genre if not Cliche™ and Obvious™?
DEAR G STANS, READ A DAMN BOOK FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!!
LITERALLY ANY KIND OF BOOK!!!!
WATTPAD WORKS AS A BEGINNERS GUIDE TOO!!
(im so sorry for such a long rant but i accidentally went to twitter and came across some anti tweets and you can guess how that went my brain is fried from lack of self awareness and sheer stupidity)
I completely agree. These are pretty 'by-the-book' characters and act exactly how you'd expect them to act.
When I was 10, I remember i was completely obsessed with Jane Eyre. It was my favorite book and I read it like 70 times! :) You look at Mr. Rochester and let's see:
Brooding, possessive, domineering, harboring a deep dark secret, suffering, falling madly in love with a young innocent girl, willing to make questionable choices, lie and do everything to get the object of his affection.
And I mean, if you don't want to go back to the classics, then just read freakin' Twilight! LOL
Same thing!
I never understood why this was so 'confusing' to them.

Good morning. I wanted to ask about your statements that Cersei isn't a direct threat to Sansa as much as Sansa's other abusers, which startled me, to be honest.
I agree she's not a direct sexual threat, but she manipulated and emotionally abused Sansa. She was more than happy to let Sansa be beaten and raped by her son, and probably would have even protected and made excuses for Joffrey. She later played a key role in setting Sansa up to be raped by Tyrion. This wasn't a case of her merely standing by and passively letting it happen; she actively worked to entrap Sansa into being sexually abused.
And she doesn't stop there. At present, in the books, she is quite literally trying to kill Sansa. She may not be the one physically holding the weapon, but she's the one behind all the evil men who are out there searching for Sansa now to bring her back and kill her. Cersei is the direct, driving force behind that. I just find it very strange to think that Cersei is less a threat to Sansa because her abuse of Sansa hasn't been physical, or more accurately, because she's used others to perpetrate her physical abuse on Sansa instead of doing it herself.
I realize I may sound argumentative, but I'd truly like to hear more of your thoughts on this.
I’m not sure which of my posts you’re responding to, but I never meant to imply that Cersei isn’t evil. Sansa hates her and is afraid of her for a reason. I did recently try to explain that her not being a sexual predator of Sansa’s means that I can “enjoy” her as a villain and her scenes with Sansa even when I don’t enjoy other villains. (link) The Hound, Tyrion, Joffrey, LF, Marillion…if the threat isn’t explicit rape in the moment, they are sexually interested in Sansa and that makes my skin crawl because we know where it’s going. I’m not denying that Cersei abused the trust Sansa placed in her, or that she ignored the threat Joffrey was, or that she doesn’t want her dead after Joffrey’s death, I simply find her a more interesting villain than some of the others because of how she and Sansa share certain parallels/experiences, because of that mentor/mentee role she has with Sansa, because of how she is a foil to Sansa, not merely another predator. I’d rather read that than yet another man lust after/assault Sansa.
I never thought Cersei would kill Sansa because I never thought Sansa would die, so emotionally, I didn’t have barriers to engaging with their scenes. I simply wasn’t afraid of what I would read next. That isn’t the case for Sansa with any other villain. I suppose I just find the threat of sexual violence so overwhelming in her scenes with other villains I don’t appreciate the dynamics the way Martin intended. As in, LF and Sansa is mentor/mentee, but all I can think is “groomer” and dread what is coming. Intellectually I understand what else is there, but all I want is for Sansa to be far away from them. I might have “enjoyed” LF the same way I enjoy Cersei if he wasn’t molesting Sansa. If he was simply a cold, calculating man who wanted power and was willing to murder and cause wars to get it, to use Sansa to get the North, I might have thought, “oh, what a fun, conniving villain!” But he’s sexually assaulting a little girl, so all I want is for him to die. I just don’t have that same visceral reaction to Cersei in her scenes with Sansa as I do to other villains.
I do find this part of your ask confusing:
She later played a key role in setting Sansa up to be raped by Tyrion. This wasn't a case of her merely standing by and passively letting it happen; she actively worked to entrap Sansa into being sexually abused.
I feel dumb but I actually don’t remember this? 😬 Tywin is the one who decided that Tyrion would marry Sansa, Tyrion is the one who decided actually, he did want to marry her and sleep with her, so I’m not sure why Cersei is to blame? I feel like I must have forgotten something very pivotal here, but in the same scene that Twyin announces Sansa’s fate, he’s just ordered that Cersei will likewise marry and have children against her wishes ie he is doing the same thing to both these characters because he is a pos, and I find it strange to act like Cersei, who couldn’t save herself, could have saved Sansa?
I’m really not sure what else to say that I didn’t when I responded to my last batch of anti Cersei asks, but I suppose where we aren’t seeing eye to eye is that I don’t think it’s weird people enjoy the villain in a Disney movie or fairytale. Cersei at times is so cartoonishly evil, it reminds me of that. Does the evil queen want her huntsman to cut out Snow White’s heart? Sure! Is she still a fun villain? Yup! To me, Cersei registers like that. She fits in with the fairytale side of Sansa’s story whereas sexual assault is just too common in our world for it to entertaining. So, I feel like you and I don’t truly have an argument. I agree that Cersei is a villain in Sansa’s story, she just happens to be my preferred villain, and I would have loved for the two to be reunited to bring things full circle, but I’m not under any delusions about her.

I realized I apparently can't read
Tumblr media
@havoc-warband this ask was for August, so I'm gonna delete the last one and do it for the right character, lmao.
⚡- How well does this oc sleep?
August sleeps... pretty soundly, so far as a trained spy can, I suppose? I think he does have a bad habit of "drifting" if he sleeps particularly deeply--utilizing psionics and telepathy as one's magic comes with some downsides (I say this like it was a choice) and he occasionally winds up in other people's dreams if he's not careful, so he tends to break up his sleep into a number of two or three hour naps throughout the day and night.
Being that you sometimes can't exactly help being busy, this isn't a hard rule for him, because it's not really the end of the world if you share someone else's dream.
🌙- Does this oc have any unusual hobbies?
There was an extended period when August engaged in some less-than-paragon like activities that abused his magic. After some close run-ins and a meeting with Gaius (the one that led to their mentor-mentee relationship) he's changed direction.
In the meantime, I think he, like a lot of legion soldiers, doesn't really have much by way of a hobby, let alone an odd one, but I think he enjoys reading when he has the time.
🌱- Does this oc have any pets? Do they have any pets they want?
He does not own any pets! I think, like Gaius, he's not really sure what he'd do with one. He likes the hoarding cats around the Citadel, but of course, those are just out there doing their thing
I am so sorry for fucking this up lmao, I had just woken up

Not me watching Laila Rouass on House of Games and getting mad again thinking about the Henrik sl and how they retconned everything
Hold on a second, Laila Rouass is on House of Games?! I haven't seen it in ages, but I want to watch this week's episodes now, lol.
But yeah, I really don't blame you. Even the slightest thing gets me thinking about the fucking Reyhan storyline again (I was thinking about it just the other day, after the anniversary of that episode where Henrik hired Rafi so Sahira would be forced to stay at Holby). I hate it so much. What a load of sensationalist nonsense, and it's utterly laughable that they pretended it was about "raising awareness" - it was so clearly solely done to villainise poor Sahira and treat Henrik as the real victim of "the evil Shah family". Like... he literally sexually harassed and emotionally abused her! One would have to be outright biased against Sahira and desperate to claim Henrik can do no wrong to say that's not a true statement, because by just about any definition of those terms, what Henrik did falls under it.
Once upon a time, during the original Sahira storyline, the show acknowledged that. It was only in his second stint (yet another reason he either should never have come back, or left after the Gaskell storyline), when they went for the “moral compass Henrik” narrative, that the trauma Sahira went through became too inconvenient for them to acknowledge and so they shoved it in the bin in favour of “super privileged bully Sahira and poor little victim Henrik” (which made absolutely no sense).
I got reminded, recently, of this dialogue from Sahira in S14E26 "Equilibrium" (emphasis mine):
Sahira: "Apparently I'm not focused enough. Apparently, there's no place for 'domestic entanglements' in theatre. 'Singular opportunity', 'singular capability' - I mean, how many times do I have to hear that same old song? What do I have to do to get him off my back? Out of my head?"
How do people watch this stuff and still victim-blame her, or think how Henrik treated her wasn't abusive, or think it was at all okay for the show to rewrite her entire backstory just to make the viewers pity her abuser instead of sympathising with her?!
Gah, sorry. I've had this entire rant building up in my mind for a while but was too scared to post it (because of the fear of getting shouted at or told I hate Henrik - my literal favourite character! - just for pointing out that he's an awful person who should not be romanticised) and this ask just unleashed the ranting. I do apologise.
It's a shame the show didn't bring Sahira back properly. The very, very least she deserved after everything Henrik put her through was an apology from him. I always wanted to see Henrik actually apologise to Sahira and own up to his actions and now he never will... sigh. :/ And the fact that so many people haven't seen old Holby and will now forever think the Reyhan storyline is canon, and that Sahira Shah was Henrik's childhood friend whose dad abused him, is so upsetting to think about. It isn't, and she wasn't! She was his mentee he met in 1995, whom he bullied and harassed. Any trauma as a result of their friendship was caused by him to her, not the other way around. But now people just think she's some terrible abuse-apologist bully when the original Sahira was literally nothing like that (okay, she did refuse to believe an abuse case once, but that was only because she didn't want to believe something so terrible could happen, and she did come to see the truth eventually). She may have been far from perfect, but she and her family did not in any way bully Henrik, or abuse him, or ruin his life. That was all him.
