@staff not a fresh take I’m sure but this?
annoying. cuts into my brain. feels like someone lowered the brim of my hat over the dash. intrusive. I paid for no ads to give tumblr a lil walkin around money and this is more irritating than those Put it On the Side or get rid of it I don’t want or need to see this 24/7 please and thank you

What is are some Good Omens fics that do a good job of capturing the writing style of the original text? This can be in tone, word choice, structure, dialogue, anything.

uh. major spoilers for the family dinner scene.
the family dinner scene is like. absurdly funny.
to start, Death shows up in a tank top and jeans, as she mostly does, is told to change, and reluctantly goes in a full gown. then Dream, this son of a bitch, what does he arrive in?
FULL 1700’s GEAR.
IT IS THE 1980’s.
NOT ONLY THIS, BUT HE WAS NEVER DIRECTED TO DRESS FORMAL OR ANYTHING AT ALL. THIS FUCKER JUST CHOSE TO WEAR THAT. LOOK AT THIS SHIT:
AND NOT ONLY THAT, HE UNINTENTIONALLY(?) CALLS OUT DEATH FOR NOT WANTING TO WEAR FORMAL CLOTHING.
a ton of bickering later, as they usually do, Destiny basically just tells Delirium to shut up (</3), more sibling bullshit ensues, and Death offers Dream a grape. And then Desire pulls the funniest fucking joke I have witnessed in a comic:
THEN DREAM GETS GENUINELY ANGRY AT THEM????? Desire, being the little shithead they are, decides to taunt him even more, resulting in Dream storming out to the balcony.
Death rushes out to help him, a genuine, honest talk happens where Dream finally gets a grip, and then this absolute fucking banger of dialogue occurs:
AND THAT’S HOW THE SCENE ENDS.

I'm the editor in chief for my college newspaper and made the mistake of wearing my Good Omens shirt to our meeting today. Said meeting quickly turned into a Neil Gaiman/Good Omens fanclub as a result. I'm pretty sure we had more important things to discuss, but at least I got paid for getting to rant about season two for a good half hour.

Okay here is my hot take about Good Omens: I don't want Crowley and Aziraphale to explicitly end up together romantically in the end of season 3. Please stay with me, I can explain.
One of the things I and many others love about their relationship is the ambiguity. You could say that they have known about each others feelings for hundreds, if not thousands of years, or that they only realised in season 2, that they never kissed before or that they made out after Eden. And canon doesn't directly contradict any of that. See, my point is that a lot about their relationship is ambiguous, and I like it this way. This is the reason this show speaks to so many people. This is so rare and what makes it so special.
Also, one of the themes of season 2 is them trying to figure out what kind of relationship they want, and also not really fitting into a classic human romantic relationship. And it would be shame if all of that would just end in them having a classic romantic ending. The entire point is that they don't fit into any categories, why try to put them in one?
We also need to consider that they don't really have a framework for relationships except what they know from romance novels and movies. So even if they are acting like in these kinds of media, that doesn't necessarily mean that that's exactly what they want, that just means that they have discovered that they have feelings they don't know and are trying to figure them out. And while that process involves these things, that doesn't mean that it's the end result.
What I'm not saying is that I don't want them happy, of course I do. I need them to find to each other again and hug it out and maybe even have a kiss that is not a goodbye if they want. I want them to be happy too. All I'm saying is that I hope that the ending won't be overly romance coded and still allow for other interpretations, because in the end, this is what they are all about.

So, evidently someone asked Neil Gaiman on Twitter if he liked “The Rings of Power” (he did, by the way) and someone else demanded to know how he could like it when even Elon Musk hated the show. Neil replied in typical Gaiman style (which made me LOL) and now a whole bunch of Elon Musk’s fanboys are in his mentions blaming him for everything they don’t like about the show. Since, according to them, he’s the showrunner.
Which he isn’t.
How is this real life now?

If anyone wants an enjoyable afternoon activity, I highly recommend taking a scroll through Neil Gaiman’s tumblr likes (not his reblogs, though I’d recommend that, too). I’m not sure if he’s aware that they’re public or if he just doesn’t care, but seeing how he interacts with the community (not just the Sandman community, but fans of ALL of his works), even in such small ways, makes me immensely happy
