i still don't get how people can say that "well sam was the happiest of them all at least he wasn't killed by a fricking rusty nail 😠 he got a wife and a kid and lived his life like he always wanted to" to me it seems like you missed the whole point of the show. obviously the first thing we know about him is how he wanted those things and ran away from what he was raised into. I'll be damned if he actually got to admit to wanting something else through the course of 15 seasons, "dean, i see the light at the end of the tunnel. and if you let me, i'll take you to it" (s8 which is, yeah, he met a woman he probably wanted to have something serious with but he could never fucking leave his brother alone) - "i guess i really understand now that this is my life. i love it. but i can’t do it without my brother i don’t want to do it without my brother. and if he’s gone, then i don’t…" (s10) and some people'll talk about Stockholm syndrome but not me rn. like that's the point. they're dangerously codependent on each other. and that's ok because it's fiction. no person no kid no nothing except dean himself could feel the hole in sam's heart. he never let go. he was thinking of his brother every second for the rest of his life. and to me personally? the most depressing moment of carry on was the montage of sam's carried-on-life. but he did it. because (!!) he felt responsible before dean. because he knew that's what dean would've wanted him to do. I'm sure he was a great parent and i love final girl sam but he must've felt most alive since the night dean died when he was finally on the deathbed.
