Can you describe some things you look for and ask of when searching for potential breeders?
I’m shopping around (I’ve been looking for breeders of several different kinds of terriers) and so far have yet to find a breeder who is the right fit. They either have well-socialized and behaved dogs but breed too young for my tastes and only rely on embark health tests, have years of experience with the breed but also question the “need” for dog vaccines, or some other BS.
I’m kind of at my wit’s end here at this point.
Sure, now i'm not going to give a comprehensive list here, i think @shrimpsisbugs post HERE is a great starting point, but here's a bit what i look for:
Relating to the Dogs Themselves:
-Does this breeder do all breed appropriate health testing?
-Are their dogs in the OFA database if they are North American based?
-Do their dogs have CHIC numbers in the OFA database and not just the minimum amount of health testing?
-No breeder prior to the age of 2 on any dog. All breeding dogs must complete full health testing before breeding.
-Do the dogs do stuff? Big red flag for me is when there is ONLY conformation photos of the dog as it is, imo, fairly easy to hide a unideal temperament in the ring. I want to see the dogs interacting with others, doing work, doing play, being dogs.
-Does this breeder achieve titles OTHER than conformation? This is a big thing i look for because I do think that stable tempered dogs should be able to achieve titles other than confo fairly easily, especially if they are breed work specific titles. A breeder that does not have anything of value in their dogs other than confo is not a breeder i want to buy from.
-If it's a coated breed, do they have photos of the breeding dogs WITHOUT coat? This is important to make structural opinions based outside of corrective grooming.
Relating to the Breeder Themselves:
-When i talk to the breeder are they willing to discuss in depth all health testing results AND whatever titles the dogs have? Anybody not willing to discuss this is a no go for me.
-Does breeder keep up to date with current science? Not doing so i a big red flag for me. I actually heard about the no go for legumes and a lot of the not great nutritional balance of many boutique dog foods years before it became a hot topic because of my breeder
-Does breeder allow me to come see the adult breeding dogs in person? (Many breeders will limit visitors to puppies in case of disease which to me is not a red flag in itself).
-Does the breeder choose the puppies for clients? This is important to me as I, as a buyer, am not around the puppies from birth, but the breeder is.
-Breeder should not be pushing certain MLMs, anti-vaccine policies etc. on buyers. Health decision related contract items should be able to be a discussion between the breeder and client (Original contract was to neuter Sigurd at 6 months, but through discussion i pushed it to 11 months and each subsequent contract i've received for other dogs has a much further timeline for spay/neuter, especially as my breeder has kept up with science).
Other stuff:
-If you can visit the kennel, is it clean? Where are dogs kept? Are puppies raised inside, what sort of socialization process do the puppies go through before they leave home? These are important questions to me. A dog's living quarters should NEVER be hidden from potential buyers. EVER. My breeder has a virtual kennel tour available in case people are unable to physically visit.
My favorite thing to mention regarding dog breeders is: NO GOOD RESPONSIBLE BREEDER HAS ANYTHING TO HIDE.
Breeders should be excited and proud of their dogs and accomplishments and be willing to talk about them, they should also be upfront and honest about any faults produced, things they're looking to correct, and they should never be shying away from talking about any unhealthy dogs they produce. You as a buyer should get an honest and comprehensive, and honestly long winded, description of these things.
Big red flags for me are when breeders are insistent something ISN'T a problem in the breed when having discussions on breed improvement. Like, for example, when people say there's not a working drive problem in Alaskan Malamutes, when many people that actually work the dogs long distance describe otherwise.

Ok sooo I need to share this AU concept since I feel like it wouldn't make sense in the actual timeline and among other things but still it won't leave my head:
So remember how people came up with AUs where Joker and Maruki are related? Well... This was inspired by a part of me and Creepy's RP but what if Rumi had a surprise for Takuto and her parents on the day of their visit which obviously ended badly and put an end to that plan? That surprise ended up being Ren but unfortunately, Maruki already removed himself from her life so neither of them were aware of being related until present day and 3rd semester.
Poor Rumi would just be so confused on why she's carrying a baby after the (accidental) memory wipe but considering how her personality was described she would no doubt keep him despite the potential stigma she would be hit by. She starts living with her Grandparents and remaining family members after getting out of the hospital who were apprehensive about her having a child alone out of wedlock but take her in anyway. Also having probably met Maruki before at some point... They already assume that the father is him and believed that he abandoned her so therefore end up not mentioning him to avoid hurting her. Her grandparents at least cared more than them though and try to support her as she gets back on her feet.
Come the day Ren was born and Rumi absolutely dotes on him but does note something being a little familiar about him appearance-wise and she starts to feel off whenever she thinks more about it. Namely kinda like how, "Kasumi" ends up having random slumps/depressive episodes. This worsens as he gets older and starts showing similar quirks and behaviors as Takuto which her relatives (except for her grandparents) start to resent him for, especially when he starts asking questions.
At one point, Rumi ends up having a sudden breakdown due her own filter further weakening (curse the lack of power consistency with Maruki in canon) and an older Ren asking about his father which scares Ren and then herself when she almost hurts him in the process (probably not physically though since I don't see her doing that to her own child regardless of her mental state). This gets her sent to a mental health facility which Ren does visit more than her relatives (this would be part of why he was heading home late when he encountered Shido). Each visit can vary for him: One day she was her usual loving and energetic self that he knew as a child, the next she was hardly responsive despite his best efforts to talk to her. He also often brings a book or even a chess board since they both liked playing it ("Checkmate") to cheer her up.
He's still just as confused about his father and who he was but from what did learn and even overheard in the past about him, he starts to resent him. Even more so when his relatives start acting distant and cold towards him due to blaming him for Rumi's current situation.
And the lack of contact throughout the game? Blame the relatives as they wasted no time in sending Ren away for his probation which leaves her shattered but to them, it's better for her health in the long run. Being the stubborn woman she is, she still tries but is blocked and prevented from doing so each time which actually worsens things with her as opposed to helping her. It doesn't help that her Grandparents also passed away already by this point and they were actually her primary support system while everyone else in her family was just tolerant at best, uncaring at worst.
How Maruki would piece everything together I'm not entirely sure but maybe like this: He starts to notice Ren showing similar personality traits as Rumi and even himself but doesn't think much of it at first but then Ren decided to randomly bring a chess board to a session which surprises him but plays along as Ren states it cheers him up sometimes, his mom especially. Now I can see Maruki maybe playing it with Rumi when they were younger so when Ren starts showing more of Rumi's quirks as they play, Maruki starts to pale a bit. Again, kinda tying into that "Checkmate" line. Not sure how Maruki would finally figure it out since idk how he would get DNA test done while not seeming suspicious but maybe Shibusawa makes a comment about Rumi having a kid while they were catching up alone? Either way, he would probably also have access to medical files from Shujin and once he sees Rumi's name as his mother with the father not being listed...
"It can't be..."
Plus, I feel like once he gets the ability to warp reality then maybe he would have probed Ren's memories a bit for more confirmation. Needless to say, he's extremely guilt-ridden.
And poor Ren when he finally puts two and two together... Compared to canon, he's PISSED that the person he bonded with and confided to was also the person he resented the most and he just ends up making rash and impulsive decisions without thinking like Sumi before her reveal. Which is something that would startle even AKECHI of all people a little since he's so used to Joker showing more empathy. I would also utilize Raoul because fuck Atlus for making him a DLC Persona.
He would basically represent Ren's acceptance of everything and how he still wants to change Maruki's heart but not out of spite or revenge but to save everyone and HIM since he realized that Maruki is hurting too and needed help. He wants to reconcile with him. To summarize:
Tumblr media
Also the departure for the "Leave" ending will be changed quite a bit with Maruki initially parting ways like in canon but then excuses himself with a break to catch up with Ren to give a proper goodbye (bumps into Sumi too). It leads to an emotional conversation until they see a familiar face that Ren immediately hugs. It was an astonished but slowly recovering Rumi. Her filter is gone too. Granted, it's a little bittersweet since Rumi would be kinda pissed that Maruki more or less up and left her alone (even giving him a good punch or smack) but she won't forbid Ren from seeing him either. She's just still a nice person at heart so she wouldn't be mad for long. Especially when Ren pleads his case and she trusts his judgement. That and she would acknowledge that she should've told him about her carrying Ren sooner before that visit to her parents.
The context behind her showing up would be sad initially... She came to Tokyo because she saw the news report of Ren's "suicide" from the facility and was heartbroken. But then she decided that she had enough of staying in that place and demands that she be released which the orderlies complied. She then decided to cut ties with her more toxic family members when they showed little to no care about that report and even insulting Ren to her face. She basically went to Tokyo to find Sojiro and a temporary place to stay as she decides what to do next. Obviously that changed when she sees him alive and hugging her. The filter would wear off after reality is back to normal too during her train ride hence her impulsive response to seeing Maruki.
It does get happy again though when she confirms that as soon as they come back to retrieve what's left of Ren's belongings, they're staying in Tokyo full time. She's also willing to talk with Maruki to catch up and try to give closure as well. Before they both depart, they each give him something to keep him company and remember them in the meantime: Ren gives him his favorite childhood plush toy that he carried around (which suspiciously looks like Mona) and Rumi... She gives him what she wanted to give him before that tragic day... An ultrasound photo showing a small silhouette of a baby. To say that Maruki cried quite a bit is an understatement as he hugs Ren tightly, apologizing repeatedly and promising to step and provide for them as much as he can.
Is TakuRumi gonna be endgame? Idk since a lot of time had passed and I honestly liked the aversion of expectations the game did by having him not get back together with her and deciding to start over on his own (I do wish that more closure was provided with her at least but oh well). Past TakuRumi is a definite but present day? Maybe not likely. But they would still get along since they both care about Ren greatly. Also just imagining Rumi going mama bear mode towards Zenkichi at the beginning of Strikers is too damn funny too.

Is Cricket meant to have ADHD? My brother has predominantly-hyperactive/impulsive type and I have predominantly-inattentive type and we can both relate. Episodes like "Quiet Please" and "Trivia Night" seem to imply it as well.
Tumblr media
I've tried to answer this question before but because I receive it so often, I'll take another stab at answering it.
I'm so happy so many kids relate to Cricket and Tilly. Many of those kids also relate to Cricket and Tilly on a deeper level, due to a particular diagnosis they may have received. However, I'm very hesitant to confirm any particular diagnosis for Cricket and Tilly for two main reasons: 1.) As much as we try to write Cricket and Tilly as if they're real people, they're not. They are cartoon characters instead of multifaceted emotionally-complicated human beings. I would consider it unethical to give a cartoon character a DSM diagnosis which might ultimately lead kids to seek out a similar diagnosis because they relate to similar behaviors of said diagnosed cartoon characters. I like to think of Cricket and Tilly as unique kids, rather than kids with a particular diagnosis. And I hope kids who have received some type of mental diagnosis, also see themselves as unique individuals, rather than someone who is in need of "fixing."
2.) My main hesitancy around these diagnostic labels is for no other reason than our society's main source of treating these types of diagnoses: drugs. I'm not denying the existence of these different learning abilities or different ways of thinking, I'm simply against the way we treat these "disorders." I think psychiatric drugs are best used in rare cases and generally for a short amount of time, with a plan for the individual to get off of the drug (research long-term use of psychiatric drugs and how psychotropic drug tolerance works- "Your Drug May Be Your Problem" is a great read). For some people, psychiatric drugs carry with them the potential for some extremely dangerous side effects. Further complicating things, these drug side effects are often mislabeled as additional mental health symptoms. Also, due to tolerance build-up, the desired effects of these drugs usually wear off after continuing the same drug treatment for years. This tolerance often leads to higher dosages or more psych drugs to achieve the original desired effect. To make the situation more complicated, psychiatric drugs also create an intense chemical dependency that is rarely talked about and very misunderstood in the medical community. After many years of use, these drugs eventually have very little effect other than staving off withdrawal effects from said drug. An adult choosing to take psychiatric drugs is well within their rights. But children? Who have developing brains? How confident are we that this is the best course of treatment?
I hope you can appreciate my sensitivity around this issue due to the fact that I've been dependent on the SSRI, Paxil (paroxetine) for 24 years now. I was put on it as a child at 10 years old for anxiety attacks and 24 years later, I'm now slowly weaning off of the drug. In some ways, I wish I was never given the drug (which was eventually labeled as unsafe for children and given a black box warning after years of being on the market- whoops!) but in other ways, I'm very thankful for the painful lessons I've learned.
This long awful process of withdrawal has changed my views on the outdated "disease-based" model of looking at mental health. The emerging "trauma-based" model makes a lot more sense to me, both in terms of diagnosing and treatment. This model encourages treatment/healing of the source of the pain, rather than treatment (or numbing) of the symptoms. This model asks "what happened to you?" rather than "what's wrong with you?"
At the risk of looking like a radical, I'll end it there. DISCLAIMER: If you are on any psychiatric drugs, do NOT discontinue use without talking to a trusted doctor (who understands psychiatric drug withdrawal/de-prescribing). And never cold turkey from any psych drug- it's too hard on your CNS and can cause an incredible amount of long-lasting emotional and physical pain. The decision of whether or not to pursue treatment through psychiatric drugs is a very personal decision that should be made by the individual, guided by informed consent from a doctor about the potential benefits and risks that come with any particular drug.
I share this only to speak about my personal experience on the subject. I don't mean to offend anyone nor tell anyone what they should do or believe. To anyone suffering mentally or emotionally, please know that in many ways, I understand and I wish you the best. 💚

Hello,
Wikipedia suggests that Anubis was the primary or most-venerated death-related god before Osiris took prominence in the Middle Kingdom. It's described some vaguely so I'm not clear on exactly what they are suggesting there.
But Iwas wondering if this is true in any sense. Did Anubis role change at all or did be lose status in worship? Was he originally in charge of the underworld before Osiris? I'm wondering particularly in the Osiris myth with him dying, his death is connected to his reign in the underworld, isn't it? Like he takes over when resident? So that would potentially imply a vacancy before that?
Hi! I'm currently not taking any research-related Egyptology questions for health reasons. That said, you're somewhat lucky that I coincidentally read up on Anubis yesterday, so I can give you a quick sparknotes type answer. Yes, it is true that he was the most important funerary god before the rise of Osiris. The two were later connected in the sense that in some traditions Anubis is said to be Osiris' son. Anubis didn't really see a loss of status; he was still an integral funerary deity, but the exact scope of his role did change.
The rest of your ask is beyond what I read up on so I can't answer that without referencing the info to make sure I'm giving you the correct info (religion is not entirely my area), but I can recommend locating a copy of Wilkinson's The Complete Gods and Goddesses of Ancient Egypt. You wil find a good starter pack of info on Anubis and Osiris in there, and the bibliography will list further reading.

Help rebuild Lewis's vet fund!
Tumblr media
If you know Lewis, you already love this magnificent little guy! He’s a charismatic bird who wins hearts without even trying. If you don't, here's what you need to know: He's 50 pounds of attitude in a half pound sack, he loves peanuts and singing, and he is loud.
Unfortunately, Lewis is also very sick, and so far we don’t know why. He’s had three vet visits in the past two weeks and the cause is unclear so far. These visits have been very expensive, and there will definitely be more in the future. I’m asking for help to rebuild his vet fund, which was completely wiped out in the first two visits.
I’m hoping to raise $1000 for further testing, medication, and health-related supplies. That's a tall order, but proper care for birds is expensive. Every little bit is appreciated, and spreading the word and well wishes are very much included!
Click the read more for the (literal) receipts, further information about his health, and of course some bonus Lewis pictures!
The news so far isn't good, so please enjoy Lewis enjoying a pepper, as fortification before you read on.
Tumblr media
[ID: Lewis the macaw with his beak covered in shreds of red pepper and a few seeds]
He first started showing signs of illness in September, changes in his droppings that were abnormal but not critical, so I scheduled a visit with his vet. The day before his appointment his health suddenly crashed - he was lethargic, puffed up and slow, with no interest in food or water. After a quick call to his regular vet we headed to the nearest emergency vet that would see him. They gave him fluids and ran some blood work, and recommended x-rays but weren't able to do them that day.
Tumblr media
[ID: An itemized bill from an emergency vet clinic, totaling $501.64]
No attempt was made at any kind of a diagnosis, but the fluids seemed to help and he was a bit more active when we got home, but still clearly unwell.
The next day we saw his regular vet who took x-rays and did a more thorough exam. Those showed mild liver disease, possible GI disease, and neurological problems - his grip strength is asymmetrical and greatly reduced. In her words, there are "a lot of abnormalities but no smoking gun." He was given a course of antibiotics and a medication to support proper liver function, and we waited for the lab to return a more detailed set of blood tests.
Tumblr media
[ID: Lewis sedated for his x-rays, laying nestled between two folded towels. His face is pressed against a towel which is covering a hot water bottle.]
Tumblr media
[An itemized vet bill totaling $699.27]
He seemed much improved when we returned home even before starting his new meds, which was a bit of a mystery but very welcome. He clearly hates his medicine but has nonetheless been taking with it with only minor complaints - and of course copious encouragement and treats.
Unfortunately his blood work didn't answer any of our questions. In a nutshell, he seems to be doing far better than would be expected from his tests alone. There are several issues, minor and more serious, that point toward the same cluster of problems: liver, GI, neurological health. The vet told me her two top theories: a brain tumor, or avian borna virus. These are both terrifying, as there's no cure for either, and they're both wildly expensive to even try to diagnose. We talked through the options and she recommended ruling out other potential causes that could present similarly.
So on Monday we headed back to the vet for poor Lewis's third blood draw in ten days. He was remarkably brave about the whole thing, and only caused some minor hearing damage for everyone present.
Tumblr media
[ID: An itemized vet bill totaling $615.20]
We're still waiting on the results of these tests, but things don't seem very encouraging right now. Lewis has good days where he seems mostly like his normal self, but even then his coordination seems off and he doesn't grip his perches so much as wobble and lean until he reaches a stable point. He's had two episodes of vomiting, he gets cold far too easily, and most worryingly he can't drink with his head lowered.
In addition to all those vet bills ($1800 so far), I've needed to buy bird-safe space heaters and a set of water bottles that should let him drink with his head raised. His vet has encouraged me to prepare for his condition to worsen, and recommends thinking about accommodations for further loss of mobility, which is doable but will add on to the running total. I've always kept an emergency vet fund of $1000 in case of sudden illness, but I've spent twice that in the past two weeks. Things are dire, financially speaking, and I hate limiting his care based on what I can afford, but that's the point we've reached.
Thank you for reading through all this, for being invested in this sweet, cantankerous little guy. If you can help out with a donation or by sharing this post I appreciate that more than I can begin to say. I know times are hard all around, the past few years have worn us all down, so please don't feel any pressure to give beyond your means. Lewis and I are both just as happy to get well-wishes and kind words.

tw// cult, program, and ramcoa meantions
hey, so we have a couple questions
1. do you have any advice for coping with finding out you're a RAMCOA survivor? we found out about 3 or 4 months ago and it's been absolute hell ever since. our splitting tolerance(?) was already very low but it seems to be even worse now for some reason and the higher ups in our system after set a group of alters to front while locking their access and communication to the rest of the system. they tend to remove said group if they attempt to look into or get help regarding our RAMCOA related trauma. it really sucks because this shit is affecting our work and we can't afford to move back in with our parents because they were some of the people did RA on us (they're ordained apostles and had a cult when we lived on a different island) and all the mental health professionals in my country are shit so ig I'm just trying to figure out how to keep us alive until we eventually get out of here and can get help.
2. do you have any advice for dealing with denial regarding having ramcoa history? we often spiral into denial and there are alters who's job seems to be to make us be more on denial if that makes sense? and there's alters who seem to be able to straight up block our memories when they co-front.
3. is there any way to stop a program once it starts? usually, we end up blacking out, or if we're co-con, it feels like it's not happening, and we're able to recall little to none of what happened after. and during it it feels like a weird blurry haze and we can even think properly, it's just straight gibberish mostly
very sorry if these were too many questions at once :') (also I hope this makes sense)
I want to preface this by saying I’m new to this whole “making myself known as a part” thing, this knowing your system thing, as well as all this terminology thing. My apologies if this is not well written
I’d recommend not immediately jumping into knowing the details of your RAMCOA history, or even moderate knowledge of the cult. If you already know that stuff don’t look into it further when you’re just discovering. When you feel like you are ready, take some time to self regulate during your research. This could look like taking breaks every few minutes or having a fidget. Also, always always have a safe environment while looking into potentially triggering stuff
I don’t personally experience denial as a part but I know somebody-I think the host? Who I can’t remember the name of at the moment-wrote this; if you weren’t a victim you wouldn’t have programming. It makes sense. And, I’d you’re in denial about what makes a program a program, we probably have posts on that kind of stuff
I honestly have no idea. I’m not a RAMCOA part at all. The only reason I know this kind of stuff is because I’m surrounded by lots of parts that are either programmed, RAOA trauma holders, or both. I would ask a therapist or somebody who is knowledgeable about that kind of thing
Hope this helped!!!!!!!!! :D

SIT DOWN it’s STORY TIME.
Y'all would not fucking BELIEVE the counseling appointment I just had. I PROMISE it’s related to Cult of the Lamb. Just sit tight.
TL;DR: I have been questioning whether I am autistic for YEARS. What helped actually set a potential diagnosis for me in action? It was motherfucking Cult of the Lamb.
Context: I recently moved, transferred health systems, and needed to refill my adhd medication (vyvanse, which is a controlled substance) so since my new health system has different diagnostic requirements for ADHD I had to go in for a psych eval to basically confirm that yes I still have adhd. Which all worked out, btw, I have access to my medication again.
BUT.
When I thought the appointment was nearing a close, she brought up the fact that I had self-identified as "neurodivergent" and last time she had asked me to explain what it meant to me. I explained that it encompassed many different ways of thinking and different brain chemistries/structures, including but not limited to ADHD, autism, PTSD, cerebral palsy etc. She then asked if I could potentially relate to any more of these identities and nudged me towards autism. Which was so validating because I've been wondering for years but like. For a therapist to just come out and lay it right in front of me was... unexpected. So that day I told her yes, I related to many autistic traits but that I also knew that there was a lot of overlap of symptoms between autism and ADHD and that non-autistic people could have autistic traits as well. I was deflecting wanting to deal with this and apparently it was obvious because she brought it back up again today.
There was a part of me dreading this appointment because I knew there was a chance she'd bring this up and then I would have to deal with it and it would feel real. So when she asked about it again and pointed out, hey your psych results and history questionnaire from your parents and past diagnoses and etc all line up with this and i just start tearing up because I don't know what else to do
And we had a long conversation about it and kinda unpacked my internalized ableism about this and pointed out some things in my history/questionnaire/eval that had led her to pose the question about pursuing a potential second evaluation for autism. So I accepted, because I had been procrastinating it for a while (due to fear of finding out that I was right I guess? but also really wanting to know and knowing in my heart that I know myself best and I was probably right?). If not now, when. So I have a follow-up appointment for an autism evaluation on October 24. Whatever the outcome I'm just proud I did this today.
Here's the fucking kicker that I think y'all are gonna appreciate.
So many of y'all know I write Narinder as autistic and boy howdy have I been projecting onto him so hard. When doing research for writing Requiem I realized how many of these traits I was checking off for myself. I published it like 2 days before the appointment. I have a LOT of trouble describing myself. My personality, my symptoms when asked about them, etc etc. But because I had done so much reading I had an idea fresh in my mind about what my autistic traits were because I had written them out and compared them to what I was writing. So I was able to articulate the things my counselor was asking me about so well and I felt like I had the most productive appointment I've had in ages. Looking back, I realized a lot of the things she asked me were autism-related rather than ADHD related. (For example, she asked me about any special interests I might have. Literally infodumped about the history of ALL my hyperfixations for ten minutes, then infodumped about my current hyperfixation cult of the lamb and my special interest (creative writing) and how I've been combining these two things and projecting onto blorbo from my video games and shit.) And all this really helped her in my evaluation and led her to propose the further evaluation for autism in the first place.
Also kinda screaming at the fact that I might have to send my therapist my fanfics so she can use them as a diagnostic tool.
Well. Back to writing.

So the thing from Aquinas I was distressed about is Summa Theologiae supp question 64, article 4. Here, Aquinas seems to indicate that while a woman can refuse her husband’s demand for sex during illicit times, if he persists despite her admonitions, she “must yield to his demand”. Must, not should or may, must. This sounds bad. Yes secular culture gets sex so wrong but the one thing they have right is consent. Is this marital rape?
Yep. This requires a bit of context to understand correctly, so bear with me.
Suppl Part 4, Question 64, Article 4 (S4.Q4.4) asks whether a woman must "pay the marital debt" to her husband during menses (on her period) if he demands it. For perspective, the previous question (S4.64.3) asked whether a wife can request sex from her husband during menses. Both are in regard to various Old Testament laws that forbade sex during a woman's period.
In S4.64.3, Aquinas concludes that couples shouldn't have sex on periods because it was believed this could potentially harm any conceived babies, which would be morally wrong. Keep in mind this is from a time (13th century) when they really didn't understand what periods were, other than somehow being related to women's fertility.
So a woman can't ask for sex on her period. What if her husband asks? S4.64.4 explains there's two possible scenarios. One is that he asks "in ignorance" (i.e. doesn't know she is menstruating), in which case the wife can make excuses of ill health. The other scenario is he demands "knowingly": in which case, Aquinas says the wife should admonition him and dissuade him with prayer. If he persists anyways, she should yield, but she can indicate her unhappiness/disaffection so long as she judges him "prudent" (i.e. that he won't fly into a rage).
Aquinas is not endorsing marital rape here. He's exploring the moral conundrum of "What should a wife do when her husband demands sexual relations when he shouldn't?" In his response to objection two, he outright calls the man's actions sinful - and clarifies that the wife is not able to consent, so although she's not supposed to have sex on her period, the sin is on him. The only reason she is to yield passively (he distinguishes this from consenting) is to prevent him from sinning even further (e.g. masturbation). He also alludes that her continual denial might put her in a physically unsafe position.
Basically, Aquinas is explaining what he thinks is a wife's least terrible option if her husband is demanding illicit sex from her even after she says no. Aquinas does not think it's okay for the husband to do that.
I don't completely agree with Aquinas that yielding is necessarily the "least terrible option". However, the good news is that we don't have to agree with him - saints' works aren't infallible. Sometimes they get stuff wrong. Like period sex being sinful (it's not). Plus, contemporary doctrine like JPII's Love and Responsibility and Casti Conubbii have since expanded on the nature of marital debt with more nuance than Thomas "Maximalist" Aquinas allows.

Would your yandere characters be diagnosed with a mental illness or psychological disorder if they went to a therapist? Like I know that JK in 10 series would be considered brainwashed, but would other yanderes you've written be diagnosed with a specific issue, like antisocial personality disorder? Sorry if this is offensive, I don't know much about psychology.
Hello dear!
This is a great question and it was not offensive at all. As a fourth-year psychology major, I like to think that I know a good deal about psychology. Now, this is where things get a bit tricky.
I tend to use my knowledge of psychology to help me write and characterize my characters. But when I write them I don't go into it with a specific disorder in mind and that is for one big reason: I don't want to make a) negative and inaccurate depictions of a mental disorder and b) further encourage harmful stereotypes.
So, for that reason, I can't really say what disorder a certain character had unless I wrote them with a disorder in mind.
What we could do is look at their symptomology and make some inferences from there. Certain yanderes have extreme codependency problems, others are prone to extreme acts of aggression and violence, etc. But one of the most difficult things about diagnosing a disorder is that a lot of symptoms of said disorder people generally experience and these symptoms overlap with other disorders.
If I asked you five questions right now that relate to introversion, aggression, impulse control, etc., and you answered yes to them you would be answering yes to certain criteria related to anti-social personality disorder but obviously, you do not have that. So, what we look for here is the degree of impairment in everyday life and the degree to which these symptoms are experienced.
This was literally an excuse for me to ramble about my love for psychology and destigmatizing mental health 😂 So really, thank you for this question!
In the future, I would not mind writing a character with a particular disorder and going through the diagnostic process (hint hint, potentially Predator Namjoon) but I of course would clarify that the fic depicts an outlier of the disorder and so on and so forth.

Crematoriums across China are straining to deal with an influx of bodies as the country battles a wave of Covid cases that authorities have said is impossible to track.
Cases are soaring across China, with hospitals struggling and pharmacy shelves stripped bare in the wake of the government's sudden decision to lift years of lockdowns, quarantines and mass testing.
The United States has warned the outbreak is now of concern to the rest of the world, given the potential for further mutations and the size of China's economy.
From the country's northeast to its southwest, crematorium workers told AFP they are struggling to keep up with a surge in deaths.
In Chongqing -- a city of 30 million where authorities this week urged people with mild Covid symptoms to go to work -- one worker told AFP their crematorium had run out of space to keep bodies.
"The number of bodies picked up in recent days is many times more than previously," a staffer who did not give their name said.
"We are very busy, there is no more cold storage space for bodies," they added.
"We are not sure (if it's related to Covid), you need to ask the leaders in charge."
In the southern megapolis of Guangzhou, an employee at one crematorium in Zengcheng district told AFP they were cremating more than 30 bodies a day.
"We have bodies assigned to us from other districts. There's no other option," the employee said.
Another crematorium in the city said they were also "extremely busy".
"It's three or four times busier than in previous years, we are cremating over 40 bodies per day when before it was only a dozen or so," a staffer said.
"The whole of Guangzhou is like this," they added, stressing that it was "hard to say" whether the surge in bodies was linked to Covid.
In the northeastern city of Shenyang, a staff member at a funeral services business said the bodies of the deceased were being left unburied for up to five days because crematoriums are "absolutely packed".
Asked by AFP whether the rise in demand was due to Covid, he said: "What do you think? I've never known a year like this one."
'Potential to mutate'
In the capital Beijing, local authorities on Tuesday reported just five deaths from Covid-19 -- up from two the previous day.
Outside the city's Dongjiao Crematorium, AFP reporters saw more than a dozen vehicles waiting to enter, most of them hearses or funerary coaches.
Delays were obvious, with a driver towards the front of the queue telling AFP he had already waited several hours.
It was not immediately clear whether an increase in Covid deaths was causing the backlog, and crematorium staff declined to answer questions.
The end to mandatory testing has made the toll of China's Covid surge difficult to track, with authorities last week admitting it is now "impossible" to tally how many have fallen sick.
Beijing health officials Tuesday said that only those who had directly died of respiratory failure caused by the virus would be counted under Covid death statistics.
"At present after being infected with the Omicron variant, the main cause of death remains underlying diseases," Wang Guiqiang of Peking University First Hospital told a press conference of the National Health Commission (NHC).
"Old people have other underlying conditions, only a very small number die directly of respiratory failure caused by infection with Covid," they added.
"We are not avoiding the dangers of Covid. At the same time we need to assess Covid's dangers in a scientific manner."
The US State Department said Monday the surge was now a matter of international concern.
"We know that any time the virus is spreading, that it is in the wild, that it has the potential to mutate and to pose a threat to people everywhere," State Department spokesman Ned Price said.
"The toll of the virus is of concern to the rest of the world given the size of China's GDP, given the size of China's economy," he added.

Emergency Eye Care: How to Handle Urgent Eye Issues Safely and Effectively
Eye emergencies can occur suddenly and unexpectedly, ranging from minor irritations to severe injuries that threaten vision loss. In such situations, knowing how to respond promptly and appropriately can make a significant difference in preserving eye health. This article provides essential guidelines and tips for handling emergency eye issues with care and effectiveness.
Understanding the Significance of Emergency Eye Care
Vision is one of our most vital senses, and any injury or condition affecting the eyes requires immediate attention. Emergency Eye Care involves addressing acute issues such as eye trauma, chemical burns, infections, or foreign objects lodged in the eye. Neglecting these emergencies can result in permanent damage to vision or even loss of the eye.
Recognizing Eye Emergencies
It's crucial to distinguish between urgent and non-urgent eye problems. Common signs of an eye emergency include severe pain, sudden vision changes, eye trauma, redness, swelling, discharge, or the presence of a foreign object in the eye. If you experience any of these symptoms, it's essential to seek prompt medical attention to prevent further complications.
Tumblr media
Immediate Actions to Take
When faced with an eye emergency, it's vital to take swift and appropriate action to minimize damage and alleviate discomfort. If a foreign object is present, avoid rubbing the eye and refrain from attempting to remove it yourself. Instead, gently flush the eye with clean water and seek professional help. For chemical burns, rinse the eye with water for at least 15 minutes and seek immediate medical attention.
Seeking Professional Help
Knowing when to contact an eye doctor or visit the emergency room is crucial in dealing with eye emergencies. If you experience severe pain, sudden vision loss, eye trauma, or any other concerning symptoms, do not hesitate to seek medical assistance. Delaying treatment can worsen the condition and jeopardize your vision.
Home Remedies for Minor Eye Issues
While some eye emergencies require professional intervention, minor irritations or injuries can often be managed at home with simple remedies. For instance, if you get dust or debris in your eye, gently rinse it with saline solution or clean water. Over-the-counter eye drops may also provide relief for minor irritations, but avoid using them excessively without consulting a doctor.
Preventive Measures for Eye Safety
Prevention is key to avoiding eye emergencies. Wear protective eyewear when engaging in activities that pose a risk of eye injury, such as construction work, sports, or household chores. Regularly inspect and maintain tools and equipment to minimize the risk of accidents. Additionally, practice proper hygiene to reduce the likelihood of eye infections.
Child-Specific Eye Emergencies
Children are prone to eye injuries due to their active lifestyles and curiosity. It's essential to take extra precautions to prevent eye accidents and educate children about eye safety. Keep hazardous objects out of reach, supervise activities involving potentially dangerous objects, and encourage the use of protective eyewear during sports and recreational activities.
Eye Emergency Preparedness
Preparing for potential eye emergencies can help you respond quickly and effectively when they occur. Keep a well-stocked first aid kit specifically designed for eye injuries, including saline solution, sterile eye patches, and a flashlight. Familiarize yourself with basic first aid techniques for eye emergencies and share this knowledge with family members and colleagues.
Common FAQs Related to Emergency Eye Care
What should I do if I get chemicals in my eye?
How can I remove a foreign object stuck in my eye?
Is it safe to rub my eyes if they're irritated?
These are just a few of the frequently asked questions about emergency eye care. It's essential to have accurate information and know-how to respond to various eye emergencies effectively.
Supporting Someone with an Eye Emergency
If you encounter someone experiencing an eye emergency, remain calm and provide reassurance while assisting them in seeking medical help. Avoid applying pressure to the eye or attempting to remove foreign objects unless you are trained to do so. Safely transport the individual to the nearest medical facility for professional evaluation and treatment.
Follow-Up Care and Recovery
After receiving initial treatment for an eye emergency, it's essential to follow any instructions provided by your healthcare provider for optimal recovery. Attend follow-up appointments as scheduled and report any new or worsening symptoms promptly. Be vigilant for signs of complications and seek medical attention if necessary.
Understanding the Limits of Home Treatment
While home remedies can provide temporary relief for minor eye issues, they may not be sufficient for more serious conditions. If you experience persistent pain, vision changes, or other concerning symptoms, do not attempt to self-diagnose or self-treat. Seek professional medical assistance to ensure proper diagnosis and treatment.
Coping with Vision Changes After an Emergency
Vision changes can be challenging to adjust to, especially after experiencing an eye emergency. It's essential to seek support from healthcare professionals and vision rehabilitation services to facilitate the adaptation process. Explore available resources and techniques to enhance your quality of life despite vision impairment.
Incorporating Eye Safety Practices Into Daily Life
Preventing eye emergencies requires adopting habits that prioritize eye safety on a daily basis. Wear protective eyewear when necessary, practice good hygiene, and maintain a clean and safe environment. Regular eye exams are also crucial for detecting and addressing potential issues before they escalate into emergencies.
Promoting Community Awareness and Education
Raising awareness about the importance of eye safety is essential for preventing eye emergencies. Educate others about common eye hazards, proper safety practices, and how to respond to eye emergencies effectively. Encourage participation in eye health initiatives and advocate for policies that promote eye safety in schools, workplaces, and communities.
Additional Resources and Support
Numerous resources are available to provide information and support related to Emergency Eye Care and eye health. Reputable websites, healthcare organizations, and support groups offer valuable resources and assistance for individuals facing eye emergencies or vision-related challenges.
Real-Life Stories: Learning from Experiences
Real-life experiences can provide valuable insights and inspiration for dealing with eye emergencies. Hearing stories of individuals who have overcome challenges and regained their vision can offer hope and encouragement to others facing similar situations. Learn from these experiences and apply lessons learned to your own approach to eye health and safety.
Conclusion
Emergency eye care requires prompt action, careful attention, and appropriate intervention to preserve vision and prevent complications. By understanding the signs of eye emergencies, knowing how to respond effectively, and adopting preventive measures, you can safeguard your eye health and that of your loved ones. Stay informed, stay vigilant, and prioritize eye safety in all aspects of your life.
In conclusion, emergency eye care is a critical aspect of maintaining overall eye health and wellness. By being proactive and prepared, you can effectively handle urgent eye issues and protect your vision for years to come.

The Journey to Wellness: Embracing HRT Therapy for Women
Introduction
The journey to wellness for women often involves navigating various health challenges, including hormonal imbalances that can impact physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) has emerged as a valuable tool in managing these imbalances, offering relief from symptoms such as hot flashes, mood swings, and vaginal dryness. Embracing hrt therapy for women can be a transformative step towards reclaiming health and vitality for many women.
Tumblr media
Understanding Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)
HRT involves the administration of synthetic hormones to supplement or replace those that the body is not producing in adequate amounts. This therapy is commonly used to address hormonal imbalances associated with menopause, but it can also benefit women with other reproductive health issues. The primary hormones used in HRT include estrogen, progesterone, and sometimes testosterone, depending on individual needs and health concerns.
The Benefits of HRT for Women
Embracing HRT therapy offers a range of benefits for women seeking relief from hormonal imbalances and associated symptoms:
Symptom Relief: HRT effectively alleviates common menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, and sleep disturbances, improving overall quality of life and emotional well-being.
Bone Health: Estrogen therapy helps maintain bone density and reduces the risk of osteoporosis and fractures in postmenopausal women, promoting long-term skeletal health and reducing the risk of bone-related complications.
Vaginal Health: HRT can address vaginal dryness, itching, and discomfort associated with declining estrogen levels, improving vaginal health and sexual function for menopausal women.
Heart Health: Some studies suggest that estrogen therapy may have cardioprotective effects, reducing the risk of heart disease and cardiovascular events in younger menopausal women, although further research is needed to confirm these findings.
Mental Health: Hormonal fluctuations during menopause can contribute to mood swings, anxiety, and depression. HRT can help stabilize mood and alleviate psychological symptoms, promoting emotional well-being and mental health.
Navigating the Decision to Embrace HRT
Embracing HRT therapy is a deeply personal decision that requires careful consideration of individual needs, preferences, and health factors:
Consultation with Healthcare Provider: Schedule a consultation with a qualified healthcare provider to discuss your symptoms, medical history, and treatment goals. Your healthcare provider will assess whether HRT is suitable for you and develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs.
Education and Informed Consent: Take the time to educate yourself about HRT, including its benefits, risks, and potential side effects. Ask questions, voice any concerns, and ensure that you fully understand the implications of embarking on HRT therapy before making a decision.
Risk Assessment and Monitoring: Your healthcare provider will conduct a thorough risk assessment to determine the suitability of HRT for you, considering factors such as age, medical history, family history, and lifestyle habits. Regular monitoring is essential to assess treatment efficacy, adjust hormone levels as needed, and detect any potential complications early.
Exploring Treatment Options: There are various forms of HRT available, including oral tablets, transdermal patches, creams, gels, and vaginal rings. Discuss the different treatment options with your healthcare provider to determine the most suitable approach based on your preferences, lifestyle, and treatment goals.
Embracing Wellness Through HRT
Embracing HRT therapy is not just about managing symptoms; it's about reclaiming health, vitality, and a sense of well-being. By addressing hormonal imbalances and alleviating associated symptoms, HRT can empower women to embrace life fully and enjoy a higher quality of life.
Conclusion
The journey to wellness for women often involves navigating hormonal imbalances that can impact physical, emotional, and mental health. Embracing hormone replacement therapy (HRT) can be a transformative step towards reclaiming health and vitality, offering relief from menopausal symptoms, improving bone and heart health, enhancing vaginal health, and promoting emotional well-being. By consulting with qualified healthcare providers, educating themselves about HRT, and carefully considering their individual needs and preferences, women can embark on a journey to wellness that empowers them to live life fully and embrace the best version of themselves.
