hi! not exactly a request but i do wanna ask, whats your process when you're rendering more paint like art? (if that makes sense, English isnt my first language so apologies hdskhsjdbd) i really love how you use the colors and im curious how you do it :0
i’ve been meaning to answer this one for a while so here’s how i painted miku in today’s post (put under the read more because yeah prepare for a long post
i’d also like to preface this by saying that i never follow a set way of doing things, so in terms of what my personal process is like, these are only broad strokes of what i do! sometimes i’ll combine or skip parts entirely, depending on how i feel. also, this is not a tutorial, just how i do things, so please don’t treat it like one :’D this will read like the ‘how to draw an owl’ picture if you do
first, like every artist, i sketch. more specifically, i’m getting an idea of what i want to paint later on. this could be how a scene is set up or in this case, how a character is posed. here i’m not concerned about details or getting everything perfectly, i’m only planning how the thing will be composed. maybe a lot of canvas size changing, or adjusting what miku’s doing (note how busted miku’s right hand looks from all the transforming!) however, i still have to be concerned with how clear the sketch will be to future me, because the sketch won’t be any good if i can’t read what miku’s doing
Tumblr media
after that, i lay down a flat gray under the sketch, mainly focusing on giving miku a clear silhouette. this is also a good time to make adjustments to the composition on the fly if i suddenly feel like something can be improved upon, like shortening miku’s left arm from the sketch!
Tumblr media
after painting a flat silhouette, i start shading in grayscale, focusing only on lighting. i usually do it in two passes, one for the lightest and darkest tones i’ll use (not black and white) and then a second for midtones to blend them better with the base gray but i forgot to screenshot the result of the first pass 🗿 nevertheless, here is where i can start adding some amount of details. i’m not including any extra accessories yet, just focusing on the base design of the outfit and the character herself (for anyone wanting to draw characters from That Gacha Game, this is how i personally make the process more bearable for myself.) i still use the dark gray to separate where certain details (like the facial features and fingers) begin and end, mainly to make colouring more bearable later.
Tumblr media
now here’s where i get the Good Colours. it’s a cheat lol. i put a gradient map layer over the grayscale painting so that there’s a little bit of color to start. some gradient maps can be applied as is, some need the layer settings adjusted to make it look good. this one, for example, is a (free) gradient map set from the csp assets store that needs you to set the layer opacity to 20% and to set the blending mode to color to achieve this result. in general, i tend to pick which gradient map i want to use based on vibes, or basically whether i want the work to be warmer or cooler, colour-wise. but this does do quite a bit of lifting for the colors in my stuff.
Tumblr media
and then, finally, i add the colours. i add flat base colours in an overlay layer. at this stage, i’ve made the character silhouette clear enough that i don’t need to refer to the sketch anymore for what miku looks like. also, the gradient map layer does its magic by making the shading a bit more vibrant than it would’ve been without it. after that i paint over with a new layer to add details like the lace.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and then i put some extra shading on top. basically this is where the ‘better lighting’ happens. again, this isn’t a tutorial, so i’m not here to say what each part of the lighting is, but i’ve labeled which layers do which job. in other works where the lighting within a scene is more defined (from a window, from a small crack in the walls, etc) the glow dodge layer may be more opaque and sharper, but since this isn’t a work with that, the lighting was applied using an airbrush. the linear burn layer is also there to make the whole thing darker so the glow dodge doesn’t end up oversaturating miku. i also usually match the lights to the vibe i want, and use a complementary color for the shadows. so here you can see i have warm colors on the glow dodge layer, but light purple on both the linear burn and multiply layer.
Tumblr media
and that’s it for the character—here’s a gif showing how each layer adds to miku! (sorry it’s so toasty)
Tumblr media
as for the background, depending on the complexity, it may go through a similar process, or if i can settle with flat image backgrounds, i just go for that. it’s ok to use external image materials. i didn’t have a background in mind for this miku in specific, so i got some default csp materials and threw together something
and that’s about a rough overview of what my process for more finished works looks like! again, art is a fluid process so i never specifically stick to certain steps all the time, and you shouldn’t either. i can probably answer why i’d pick this colour over another in one particular work, but it’s something that kinda has to be learned on a grander scale. i think everyone can already feel what colors work with what atmosphere or what setting, even if they can’t immediately explain why. colors and composition do take some level of experimentation to find what works best!

I'm absolutely obsessed with your art style. Can I ask how you draw proportions and likeness so well?
oh ym god i'm insane in the most positive way huh!?!?! 😭😭😭 this is literally SO sweet, i have no idea how to like..!?!? react?!
I'm so glad you like it!! 🥺 so with proportions and likeness.. honestly I'm not sure. I can't mentally visualize things, so my sketching process is a lot of repetitive scribbling until I get it to look right. In the past I've done figure sketching, adn i would 100% recommend! It helps give you an idea of shape and movement with the body.
I recommend Line of Action! They have timed courses, including a class course that i think goes through them all.
To add to the above, I like to consider weight and gravity a lot. Everyone has a center of gravity, so imagining their feet on the ground in whichever pose you have them in helps a LOT with making it feel more natural.
For getting likeness.. I'm not sure at all beyond trying to translate an actors/persons facial structure into my style. That is also a lot of trial and error, really, and first passes don't always look right.
A good example is my first Steve from ST drawing, going back.. my original sketch looks NOTHING like him. But as i rendered, I applied more of his facial structure. From his eye shape, to his nose, his mouth, his jaw, etc. Applying this technique every time i drew him just make it closer and closer, but I also wasn't trying to draw realistic. I kept it within the confines of my style.
These are a lot of words for me to just say I wing it.. but, at least it gives SOME insight.. LOL
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That first drawing was actually done in a bout of art block, and it helped me BEAT my art block in the end. I struggled a lot, but sometimes the destination is worth the frustration of creating :]
tdlr, use references!! practice!! consider real life!!! idk what else. LOL just have fun!!! ive been drawing for a long time now, so sometimes these things just take time but when you actually practice.. it helps TONS... (i really need to do figure studies again— maybe a master study or two— im so bad at colouringfDSKFLDS)

Don't know if you have before, but could you talk a bit about body language and deductions? Thank you
Hello! I think i've mentioned the subject before, but i've never talked about it in depth, mostly because i'm not particularly well versed in body language. I used to know people who also had blogs who were very knowledgeable in it, so if they become active again i'll make a post about it. That being said, as i've been writing this response i've had to be very careful to not get into any details i'm not sure about or give any advice that may be wrong. So i've decided to keep my response fairly vague while still giving as much advice as i can.
So body language falls into the non verbal communication side of deduction, along with microexpressions, and both should be treated similarly. Body language and facial expressions (and their corresponding microexpressions) are ways that our body has of relaying what we feel or think in any given moment, a lot of the time involuntarily, this means that like with every other language, we need to learn to not just read it, write it, and speak it, we also have to learn to interpret it. There's a plethora of books and resources out there that teach you how to read body language, what certain movements, poses, and reactions indicate about a person's state of mind, so i'm not gonna go into that here, actually it's probably the easiest part of deduction to find information on. What i am gonna touch on is what to then do with that raw information
Similar to all the other parts of deduction, once you interpret body language, get all the information you can about someone's reactions, state of mind, emotions, ideas, feelings, etc. you have to start asking yourself what this information means. Knowing that someone's uncomfortable is only useful if you know why, and that's where deduction comes in, sometimes it's as easy as noticing that the body language shifts once a certain person comes into the room, or a certain topic is mentioned, other times you have to do a bit more digging, after all that person who triggers body language that indicates discomfort may do so because they're someone's boss, or because they're their partner and they had a big fight recently, or because they've harassed the person in some way, or a plethora of other reasons.
Now how to do that is the hard part, i can't give any advice that's specific to body language, but i have talked about how to go deeper than the raw information you can observe about someone before, so i'll link those posts here. While i'm not well versed in body language it's not a big leap to assume that due to the nature of the advice i give in these posts, they could be applied to information gained through reading body language:
Deduction: Passive or Active
Changes and Deductions
Chess and Deduction
Binaries
I also recommend the book What EveryBODY is Saying by Joe Navarro, it's a very good resource to learn body language.
Hopefully this was useful! I encourage you to look more into body language and study it in tandem with deduction, maybe you can make your own posts explaining these topics!

Hello, I am already in love with with Morgan. I'd love to hear more about her, or know where I could read her story?
Also. In a world where men get their heads cut off and are fine, or grow to be as tall as trees, or hold their breath for nine days, I think we deserve some Mary Sue girlies. As a treat. :)
hiiii I haven't written anything for her (or arthuriana in general) but I have many thoughts that I'll put under a readmore
also you're SO right we do deserve some mary sue girlies. as a treat!!
some jumbled thoughts about morgan:
first off im the world's #1 supporter of arthur/guinevere/lancelot polyamory and also of playing with lancelot's gender, so in my version, lancelot is afab (possibly transmasc or nonbinary, I haven't fully decided) but presents as male so only a few people (arthur, guinevere, the lady of the lake (who raised him, let him dress masc and get trained as a knight, etc), maybe one or two others) know that he's not a cis man. also while arthur/guinevere/lancelot is very much a thing, they have to keep it secret, and there's still rumors that lancelot is sleeping with the queen (he is. he's also sleeping with the king. usually at the same time).
so at one point lancelot gets pregnant with arthur's child and they have problems because:
they can't exactly announce that their best knight is going on maternity leave
they want to acknowledge the baby as one of arthur's children
so the solution is to send lancelot "on a quest" where he just goes back to....the lady of the lake?? probably?? and chills with her for a while until he has baby morgan and he then secretly sends her to camelot
at the same time, guinevere fakes a pregnancy, and there's a bunch of rumors that lancelot is the father because of his conveniently timed "quest"
so when baby morgan arrives, arthur announces the baby to the court and the nobles/castle staff/etc are all clambering to see the baby to figure out if lancelot is the father. they all take one look and are like "oh. that's definitely arthur's child" (either through facial features, or im also thinking arthur and morgan have darker skin while both guinevere and lancelot have lighter skin) and some of them are a bit disappointed because they wanted to keep spreading rumors
morgan grows up in the castle and is friends with other nobles' kids, and she's jealous when the boys her age start to get knight training, so she watches the training from her window and tries to teach herself. when she's like 10, one of her friends' (still working on a name, calling her V for now) father (a knight?) dies (V's mother also died several years prior) and she's left destitute, but morgan sneaks her into the castle and hides her in her room and sneaks her food. (morgan's nanny catches on pretty quickly but doesn't say anything, she just makes sure there's always extra food left out in the room and plenty of clothes and toys)
by the time she's like 12, mordred can very clearly tell that his little sister is arthur's favorite and could pose a threat to his guaranteed succession to the throne, so he tries to kill her (poison?? maybe with the help of morgana or morgause?? or an "accident" when she's horseback riding??) and she's very sick for a few weeks. arthur strongly suspects it was mordred, but he doesn't have any evidence so he can't do anything about it.
to keep her safe, arthur decides to send her to a convent. she's upset about this and throws a fit because she doesn't realize she was poisoned, she just thinks she's being punished. she also realizes that she can't keep taking care of V if she's not living in the castle, so they hatch a Scheme™
when the knights come to escort morgan to the convent, she comes out of her room all ready to go with her hood pulled over her face and she's acting very pouty. the knights are all like "ugh why did we have to get stuck escorting the bratty princess" so they don't interact with her much, they just try to get this over with as soon as possible. they take her to the convent and introduce her to the nuns and get out of there. the nuns have never seen the princess so they don't realize that they're raising V instead of morgan
meanwhile morgan runs away, disguised as a boy, and starts training to be a knight for several years (possibly with the help of the lady of the lake)
after four years or so, arthur and guinevere send for morgan to come back to camelot to have a role in the court. when V shows up pretending to be morgan, no one knows the difference because they haven't seen her in four years and she looks close enough. V continues to live at court for several years doing princess things
eventually, lancelot and guinevere get caught, lancelot escapes, and guinevere is sentenced to be burnt at the stake. mordred knows lancelot is going to mount a rescue, so he plants a trap on the outskirts of camelot and captures him. being the dramatic Bitch™ that he is, he waits until the last minute (when they're leading guinevere to the stake) to tell arthur.
(I have this scene so clearly in my head. arthur is staring out the window at guinevere, he doesn't even turn when the big doors slam open, only looks when mordred begins speaking to him and tells him he has good news. his goons lead in a chained up knight with a bag over his head and force him onto his knees, then mordred says something like "I have captured the traitor knight" and pulls the bag off lancelot's head. lancelot and arthur lock eyes and lancelot is very clearly apologizing for failing while arthur just looks heartbroken, because not only does he have to watch guinevere burn now with no hope of her being rescued, but he'll also have to sentence the man he loves to death as well. arthur's forced to let the execution proceed and at the very last moment an army storms the square and a mysterious knight rescues guinevere and rides off with her. arthur and lancelot and relieved but also extremely confused because the knight's insignia is unfamiliar, and they have no idea what he intends to do with guinevere.)
surprise, the mysterious knight is morgan! she sends her army off to keep guinevere safe and goes to camelot under a flag of truce. she gets taken to arthur, but still wearing full armor with her visor down so no one knows who she is. she goes up to mordred and throws her glove down to challenge him to a duel to the death, claiming that he tried to kill her years ago. he doesn't deny it, saying he's tried to kill lots of people. they fight, she wins, while she has her sword to his throat she demands he withdraw the accusations against the queen and lancelot. he does, so she lets him live, but now lancelot and guinevere are free and can return to camelot.
morgan turns to arthur and pledges her loyalty and asks to be a knight of the round table, and he's so grateful that lancelot and guinevere are safe that he accepts. he asks her to stand and asks her name and to remove her helmet. she reveals that she's princess morgan, which V confirms (maybe morgan also shows a distinctive birthmark or something to further prove her identity)
yay! everyone's happy! morgan gets to be a knight and also be princess and also gets gay married to V.
I'm thinking also maybe redemption arc for mordred where he comes around to caring for morgan, maybe throws himself in front of a sword for her and tells her she'll be a good queen or smth as his last words

The Illustrated Guide To Monster Girls Volume 1: Humorous Horror
Tumblr media
Monsters, school girls, and outright dumb humor. What could go wrong? Surprisingly, not too much. Straddling the edge of being a "too simple" concept, The Illustrated Guide To Monster Girls offers a solid twist on the day-to-day humor featured in many comedy series, giving me quite a bit to chat about thankfully.
So, where to begin? Maybe an explanation? This is a manga following a group of monster girls at the bottom of the ladder in Monster school: Class Z. The group is headed up by the Jiangshi (featured front and center on the cover) Ichika. Together, the class struggles to keep it together each day and not cave into their own shenanigans.
It's a fun concept, but might seem a little narrow at first like I had said, yeah?
Well, believe it or not there is a story-slash-goal to this series: pass school.... finally. Not anything grand by any means, but it gives the story a direction, and allows Suzu to introduce some well needed variance down the road. After all, there's only so many girls in class Z.
Speaking on that, let's talk about the girls. They're fun, varied, and creative. The existence of a straight man in the humor isn't guaranteed, so the skits can easily veer out of control and really stretch the fabric of itself. Definitely not a bad thing, and it's a solid idea to compartmentalize the approaches to humor within the various girls. Being a small class, it allows them to explore funny moments on a more granular scale where you can pair up characters to create different vibes as they lead the classroom on an unsanctioned adventure, or a duo off.... enjoying a break from class.
Tumblr media
Well, I've made it this far without mentioning art, but I'm going to do it now. It's... alright. It's inoffensive. It's sharp. It's unique. But it doesn't have much life in most scenes. The characters very often come out stiff, and it feels like their range of facial expressions is rather narrow. It's like Zombieland Saga but VTubers almost. Which is quite the shame when the mangaka can really turn it on in certain moments to drive home the horror of the monster girls. It's far more expressive and detailed, making the gap between it and the usual style that much more apparent.
Just take a look at this page, the creepy parts come out with so much more life than what Ichika's expression and pose can offer in comparison.
Tumblr media
And then this spread from the volume as well. The difference between these and the usual moments is just so night and day that it can hamper your enjoyment/perception of the usual art.
Tumblr media
If I was to provide a single remark or statement for the art/paneling/etc, it's that there's undeniable potential. Suzu certainly has an eye for horror so I'd be interested to see how they'd do with it, but they really need to work on the stiffness of their usual designs, and potentially put some more effort into layouts. But still, largely speaking it's good. It's just that those great moments may start to make you think otherwise.
So what's the deal, is it good? I'd probably say so, yeah. If you want a humorous series and think exploring the potential comedy involving monster girls is something you might be interested in, you'll probably like it. It's not a smash hit from the first page, but it's surprisingly consistent with getting a laugh out of readers.

What is your art process like?
I love this question so much, I've been thinking about how to answer it for ages lol
When I read requests they usually give me a flash of an image (or multiple) in my head so I try to go off of those. If it's not a request it's likely something I or someone else has thought about from fob images being released from shows and whatnot, or redacteds.
The first thing I do is try to establish the pose and angles. I lightly (or with color pencil more recently) Place the heads and follow down through where I want everything. I normally don't use references, but sometimes I like to look at pictures of the band to make sure everything is in the right place. During this stage I try to make sure that sizes look right and to establish some visual flow and fun shapes
After that I use pencil and get the facial expressions in. This is the most intricate and important bit to me normally. It establishes so much emotion, tone, character and physical sensation. Then I go about finalizing the lines of the body and maybe adding clothes or dialogue or things like that to set environment. Lastly I might use some soft pencilwork to establish shadows or highlights but i usually do that sort of thing for commissions or big sketches only. Sometimes I add a bunch of hearts because I'm happy and drawing makes me happy lol and they're so in love with eachother. I like to use this space to be expressive and add little things like motion lines or exclamation points etc.
That's the order of my drawing process, the actual creation process is quite a bit more, but if you're interested I love talking about it! I also talk a little bit more about my creative process on my tiktok if you wanna check that out!

Hey, if you have any ideas for characters with a bigger difference in body structure than mine, I'll be happy to take a look and if I use them, I'll give you full credits
So you know if u ever draw anything like that 👀
Cuz im not creative and my all characters have the same body type 👍
You're really really good at designing characters, outfits and putting together nice colour palettes and also having dynamic poses and facial expressions. You're really good at making OCs, so I doubt you need full character inspo from little ol' me xD
But! I can come with advice for more body diversity. You seem to have mostly slim OCs, a lot with nice hourglass-figures too. I know you have some more muscular characters, and Miss Velvet is a bit thicker than most of your others, but she still somehow lacks body fat on the arms, shoulders and maybe most importantly around the vaist and hips.
So!! This guide is really really good for starting to draw body types with more fat, it covers a lot of aspects and body builds. A great help! This one is also really good :)
You can also draw characters with lots of muscles and fat at the same time, you can vary height and body proportions more, design characters with visible disabilities, and decorate the bodies with nice details such as body hair, stretch marks, scars, skin conditions, cellulite etc. I know you do some of these already :) and i gotta say with your unique art style and colouring body hair and stretch marks would look absolutely stunning xD
Im rambling now but one last thing: you don't have to design tons of new OCs to get this done, you can very much just change your current OCs designs just slightly, they're your little guys and you can do anything you want with them!

Hi there! I describe images. Sometimes posts are so long with no image descriptions that I steal them.
If I describe your post you're invited to use that in your post. credit optional. For stolen posts, maybe link it? idk.
I'd be happy to hear if you have any feedback!
tell me if there's any post you want me to steal and/or describe my asks, tags (@) and DMs are open. provide a link and I'll describe it.
currently waiting for response: 0
you can request anything, but as a general rule I can do as follows
Can do:
text (e.g. screenshots from reddit, tumblr, google searches)
memes (with some exceptions)
simple comics (i.e. 1-7 panels with few details such as emoting and posing)
transcribe audio from videos
might do:
art (paintings, digital illustrations, etc.)
photography
won't do:
complicated comics
memes that include youtubers I'm not familiar with
very complex facial expressions
I recommend Google Lens if you have an image with just text!

Hi! Your drawing are amazing 😍!
Do you have some tips maybe? I think I could learn aor from you!
hello, thank you so much!
tips sharing is a bit hard for me to do, since usually i just bs my way through everytime i draw LMAO. though something that has helped me throughout the years i've spent drawing is that, don't be afraid to try new things!
going out of your usual art comfort zone can be challenging, but it's also fun and can improve your view on your art drastically. usually to do that i always prepare some sort of practice art for me to do using references that i'm studying (ex; backgrounds, poses, facial expression, etc.) and it's okay if you mess up the first time or can't get it right, it'll get better if you try to get over your limits more
sorry if this isn't the type of tip that you want, since everyone's art looks diff and mine is specially stylized, so specific types of tips might not be for everyone hehe ^^"

Cyberbullying in Fandoms
There's a group of three people who I don't engage with who come after me regularly on FB, Twitter, Tumblr, and now even Discord. By come after me, I mean dm me because they don't want the world to see just how nasty they are by posting for all to see. I'm not sure why me because I don't engage with them. Do they just select lucky people out of the fandom to be their targets? One thinks that they are the only person who is allowed to take screenshots and share them. One thinks that if you're the loudest and most obnoxious fan, that you're the King/Queen/Owner of that celebrity or fandom.
My most recent encounter was on Discord. I create pictures for fun. FOR FUN. It is a HOBBY. Anyhow, I am not talented enough to draw a person. I use AI to draw a human figure in a certain pose, but then I transfer it to another program. I spend hours tailoring it and turning the figure into a character creating vests, suits, ties, suspenders, hair, if they're holding something, trying to find a suitable facial expression, selecting a background/scene and then altering it, etc. Then I put it into another program to get a cartoon-ish finish.
Because the figure of the initial body was generated using AI, I was told not to post in a Discord group by the administrator, which was fine--I just won't share my work in that platform. I removed all my work as requested. But then some loud obnoxious jerk completely attacked me and the administrator just stood by and let it happen. It was outright bullying. Really not what I was expecting from a group that had such firm rules laid out stating that it was a "safe" and 'accepting" environment.
Left the Discord group and then what happens? The person tracks me down on Tumblr and Twitter to DM to keep telling how God awful it is that I use AI and that my work isn't art. Maybe it's not art, and I quite honestly don't care what you call it, but it was something that I worked hard to create and it took time. I'm not forcing you to look at it either. I wonder if I should take screenshots of the messages they are sending me just to warn others to block these people in case they become their next target?
You don't like something that I create? Whatever. Just don't spread hate. Don't follow me. Block me. Whatever you gotta do, but don't be hateful.
Yes, apparently some people have nothing better to do with their day than to hunt someone down on every known to exist media platform to keep telling you that they don't approve of you.
Some people are struggling in their lives in general. To belittle one of the few things that they find pleasure in doing (not once, but repeatedly), what if that's the last thing to push someone over the edge? Would you feel bad? My guess is they probably are hoping for that outcome.

NAME. Viktor Mátyás Zsasz
AGE. 31
SPECIES. Human
GENDER. Trans, Nonbinary (they/them, it/its)
ORIENTATION. Asexual and panromantic. Viktor is sex-neutral for the most part, though they have periods of outright repulsion, and will engage in sex acts for the pleasure of their chosen, as a means of closeness with their chosen, or with others as a means to barter for things they need.
INTERESTS. Dancing, reading, poetry, singing, death, stars, knives, reptiles, funny little cats, very cursed things like furbies.
PROFESSION. Formerly the head of their family's publishing company, then a gambler, then for a short while as a hitman for Falcone and a bodyguard for Rokshana Tepes, and now currently the independent vessel of death granting 'mercy' to any 'zombies' who suffer the burden of life.
BODY TYPE. Viktor is shorter and leaner than most Gotham rogues, standing at 5'8" and 150lbs. Their appearance hides their strength, though. Viktor is a great deal stronger than their frame would imply, and is very skilled at leveraging larger opponents' sizes against them. They're still athletic looking, though, and despite some occasional dips in body-weight when they forget to eat or don't have the means to eat, their figure rarely fluctuates too much. They tend to get a little scragglier while in Arkham, though.
EYES.  A very bright, pale, piercing blue. They're almost icy, bordering on grey in some light, and are probably their most striking feature, especially given they're usually over dark circles or dark makeup, or more upsettingly, usually staring straight at you. It's also why they tend to wear sunglasses, along with their chronic migraines and medication-based sensitivities. Bright light can be rough on them.
HAIR. Viktor has natural sunny blonde hair, it's mostly straight, though it can have a mind of its own, and its usually styled into a short to medium-short undercut these days.
SKIN. White, warm-toned, mostly clear aside from all the tally-mark scars littering their body, from their head to their legs, and a set on the bottom of their right foot. They actually do have some freckles, but their mostly on their shoulders and arms. They have three tattoos; a laurel crown of bladed feathers on the back of their head, a hooded figure of death with outstretched bladed wings and hands in a cradling pose on their back, and a small older tattoo of some stylized flowers on the inside of their right forearm. Their nipples are pierced, it's a wonder Batman or one of the particularly scruffy Robins hasn't made a mess out of those yet.
FACE. Viktor has a lean, slightly longer face. They have clear skin barring a scar angled up from their jaw to their cheek on the right side. They have sharp features, evident cheekbones, slightly hollow cheeks from their inconsistent eating habits, dark under their eyes, and little to no facial hair (they'd shave it even if it grew at a reasonable pace, which it never does anyway). The tallies on the sides of their head stretch just a little past their hairline and into their temples, along with the edges of their head tattoo. They have a slightly larger nose with two piercings in it (septum and one nostril, left). They have a pierced eyebrow (left), and both ears are pierced. Their right ear has two lobe piercings, a daith, two conch, and a helix. Their left ear has two lobes, two conch, and an industrial. Again, a wonder that no one's made a mess of their ears yet. (They still tend to take some of them out if they know a fight is coming.)
HEIGHT. 5′8". They swear, maybe a little defensively, that 5'8" is 'almost average height, thank you' and that there must be something in the water of Gotham that they didn't get because everyone else being so universally tall has to be weird.
COMPANIONS. Viktor is mostly a lone actor, they're not one for having companions around them with the rare exceptions of the people they have gotten close enough to. Even then, Viktor sometimes distances themself out of a weird mix of guilt and paranoia. They are not used to living in a consistent place, and might wander off for a time on their own. They tend to coexist well enough with their fellow rogues, viewing them as at least being enlightened enough to not be a priority on their mission, though that doesn't mean that rogues are necessarily safe from them on that alone either. But for as alone as they try and make themself, they do get actually lonely very often.
ANTAGONISTS. Batman and his various allies, the cops, anyone who would try and stop them from pursuing their mission to 'save' as many people as possible. However, they view them as mostly just irritations— barring Batman. They view Batman as a potential equal, a possible new angel of death, and one of the few people they want to bear their death and mark one day. They have a bit of an obsession with trying to 'wake' Batman from his misguided ways, and they feel that getting him to kill them would be the ultimate victory.
COLORS. red, black, blue, pink, white.
FRUITS.  apples, pears, pomegranates, blackberries.
DRINKS. coffee, coffee, more coffee, alcohol of any kind, sipping chocolate.
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ? crème de cassis, cognac, vodka, rum, whiskey but they're very picky about it.
SMOKES ? Never, if they can help it. They can't stand the smell, though they're a little more okay with weed, and it's okay if it's leftover smells on someone's clothing. They just can't handle the actual smoke part.
DRUGS ? Occasionally, but not nearly as much as they did during their ride of the high life.
DRIVERS LICENSE ? Yes, though they're not sure if it's valid anymore given the whole murderer thing. Not that they care about being caught driving without one, that'd probably be the least of the cops' problems with them, let's be honest.

"Trick or treeeeeat!"
Tumblr media
"Happy Halloween, real people~! Yay, it's finally here!!"
Tumblr media
"And that means it's time for spiders, specters, and other spooky spooks, so get ready for your skin to--"
Uh, actually... I only had time to make the drawing. Not any spooky stuff.
Tumblr media
"Aw..."
Yeah, sorry. Maybe next year. And besides, there's still a couple of Holidays left in the year, right?
Tumblr media
"Yeah, I guess..."
Tumblr media
"But seriously? Stop getting sick already! People are gonna forget I'm the main announcer!"
I'll...do my best. 😁
Anyway, let's get right down to it -- presenting "big reveal" number 62!
Tumblr media
Nothing too fancy or deep about this pic; I was just curious to see how things looked for the four main characters in the cutesy anime Lucky Star, just before the theme song starts! 😊 If you're not familiar with it, here it is:
youtube
It took me a while to find it in English, strangely enough. 😏
Also strangely enough, the toughest part of this drawing was coloring the stage they're about to dance on. As you can see from the picture I used for reference...
Tumblr media
The colors and shapes are a bit complex, especially with so many different overlaps, making them a bit difficult to copy (and I didn't even try to do it with 100% accuracy). I did my best to make it close, though, including the cloud shapes on the floor.
Drawing the girls was as simple as looking at them in the Lucky Star Logo (which there are two different versions of, as it turns out)...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...and some screenshots for the facial expressions of Tsukasa and Konata:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also used Konata's fist shapes as a reference for her and Miyuki's hands. I'm very glad for the simple designs they have, which make it somewhat easier to alter their positions, expressions, etc., which is one of my favorite things to do when drawing fan art. 😊
And finally, Tsukasa's pose came from the one and only perky musician, Ibuki Mioda!
Tumblr media
I mean, what other pose would you make when saying something like "Ngaah!"?
Unfortunately, Miyuki's hands somehow ended up a little off to the side rather than in front of her, but aside from that, I like how they all turned out! Konata, especially. She has the coolest looking hair, hands down.
Tumblr media
So, for anyone who's ever wondered what the pre-theme song part of Lucky Star looked like, now you know! It may not be a full-on animation, but it's the closest I can get to it at the moment. 😅 (Maybe someday, though...? 🤔)
Whether you're a Lucky Star fan or not, I hope you found some enjoyment and/or charm in this gathering of an adorable group of friends! They never seem to run out of it, if you ask me. 😊

Note
maybe this info is floating around on your blog somewhere and i'm sorry if i missed it, but what drawing program(s) do you use? also i was going thru your art tag and i'm so very fascinated by your style. do you always do lineart first, or do you approach digital painting totally different? that benoit blanc painting is Insanely Good
Thank you! I use Clip Studio Paint. For digital paintings I either start off with a very rough sketch for the initial feel/pose etc. or just skip it and slap paint on :D Usually the latter with portraits. The shapes get further refined afterwards. I work on one layer out of habit and prefer oil paint brushes with blending properties. Here are some progress pics to show my work process. This painting remains unfinished because I ended up disliking the pose :")
Tumblr media
Here's one that did get finished (used Rebelle 5 instead of CSP). I wasn't using references during the first pic so it's a bit wonky.
Tumblr media
And a progress pic of Benoit. I like to combine elements from a few reference pictures (such as lighting of one pic and expression of another, but the facial angles don't match) so it takes some poking before I can get the forms right.

There's been discourse on my dash/on tumblr about the new music vids' similarities (or denying similarities) with IDKHOW's colors/motif on Razzmatazz, the "old music show" theme, etc, to say nothing of what a dumpster fire fandom twitter still is, and... I saw similarities too, although B's vibe is more mid 60s-mid 70s and Dallon/IDK's is later 70s-80s.
(Overall, B more goes all over the place from late 40s-now, to say nothing of the Victorian era aspects of Vices and even Pretty. Odd era and Dallon is mostly sonically and aesthetically planted in the 70s-80s eg punk, glam, funk, new wave, 80s technology, altho he too was a significant contributor to the aesthetic of Vices era, to say nothing of their mutual creation TWTL). My thought with it is it is likely inventionally referencing IDK too, but them two are far from the first in the 21st century to make similar references/aesthetics/music (eg 60s-70s nostalgia w music, fashion, etc has clearly been around since the 90s eg the second musical British invasion with acts like Oasis, music & fashion often have similarities, even cycles, over the years).
And it being intentional doesn't mean it's ripping off or a burn to IDK. My thought was maybe they (B and D) talked some things through. The nods, which resulted in ppl in these fandoms have mini meltdowns over it & others wondering wtf was going on, recent panic fans going who is IDKhow? would be an ... interesting way for fans to find out about the other group.
I dunno, call me crazy. It's quite possible to me. I don't think B or D (or Breezy ftm) are nearly as toxic as vocal kicking off decontentextualizing and outright rumour milling/telephoning/making crap up parts of these fandoms are. (I know Dallon did that "Ryan's and I past endeavors between brobecks and now never happened" thing at a show however many months ago however many months ago, but I do think he and breezy fucking went through a lot of crap with Zack in the past. And again, I'm a sad at the situation but hopeful optimist of it being fixable. Zack was a bad guy in this, but not even he is Evil in this like fandom, and people online generally, wants with clear pure sparkle dusted angels vs Worst Person Ever devils that did every bad thing any and everyone heard from the grapevine they did, and there is no mutual human frailty, mistakes, not realizing/not knowing enough, not knowing what to do, rawness, people growing apart, people hurting each other, people realizing they too could've been better, people not knowing how to fix things...)
And I seriously just got John Lennon in my head over this: "you may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one" about my optimistic wondering 😆
I can hope, y'all
Ps, on a lighter topic, that somewhat controversial photo, I liked the pearls and was meh on the fishnet shirt 😉 💕 the pink jacket. I generally prefer the more candid photos to the "Official Male Model Poses and Facial Expressions" photos lol

Artist Challenge "Dimpro"
Diversity and Improvement ==> Dimpro
I thought of this while texting a friend and it seemed fun at the time. Plus I’ve wanted to improve my art for quite some time, so here we go! A list of things I (and probably others along with me) have had trouble with and, in my opinion, would, not only improve, but also diversify your art!
Dimpro challenge!
Tumblr media
1. Yourself
Introduce yourself by drawing yourself, the pose and clothes you’re in or the way you see yourself :)
2. Perspective following a dynamic motion
Animation often follows the motion of the action (e.g., a baseball player but the camera is looking at them from the bat, someone running but the pov is from the ground looking up etc.) It gives the illustration a dynamic feel (plus it looks cool;))
3. Hands and legs (+ at least 3 pairs of shoes)
Since they seem to be a difficulty to many, let’s finish this off in the beginning. (Shoes must be different types, can’t be all, for example, boots, or all sneakers, etc.)
4. A fight scene/a spots event (bonus if it’s a short comic)
Again – for dynamics and motion
5. A cyborg/steampunk
I’ve always had trouble with doing cogs/robot parts etc. This is to make it more fun. Remember to use a lot of references!
6. Vehicles/means of transport (+- someone in it)
Self-explanatory. Do trams, cars, bikes, etc.
7. A furry/anthropomorphic animal
Someone once said that furrys were the best artists because no one made the art they wanted, so they had to do it themselves. So, design yourself a cool little furry/anthropomorphic animal. If you don’t want to make one, Disney has made enough anthropomorphic animals that one can chose from ;)
Preferably use an animal you have trouble drawing/don’t draw often.
8. An animal (must be different from your furry)
Draw a regular animal (or maybe a bunch of animals). Don’t make it the same as the furry, we need diversity after all!
9. A feral animal (not the same as 7.)
10. An unusual piece of architecture/exterior
Draw a complicated or some sort of fantasy building. It helps with perspective (bonus points for more details)
11. A homeless man, a 12-year-old boy and a hooker (bonus if in one frame)
This is from a song, but character diversity is important, so what better than this. Bonus points for creativity if they’re in the same scene and/or interacting.
12. A band on stage
Preferably find a reference picture of a stage performance and illustrate it. (reminder to use reference.)
13. Strong perspective/fisheye
With reference! Link reference as well :)))
14. Bird view of a city (may include the bird itself)
Similar as the fisheye one, but from bird flight hight.
15. A monster/cryptid/strongly non-human creature
This one is just for fun. Thinking of monster anatomy, bone structure etc. can be fun, so go wild!
16. An illustration of what a fly sees (multiple hexagons and everything)
17. A character sheet (with outfits and expressions) for a website generated OC
If you don’t know how/want to search for a generator, here are some I like:
18. A short motion picture/action frames for an action your website generated OC (around 5 frames?)
You don’t have to study/want to be an animator to see that doing the outlines of animations will help improve your sense for movement/motion. It can be the simplest of tasks like picking up a piece of garbage or pointing at something passing by.
19. Interior
As important as exterior, and almost as neglected. Draw your workplace or a café you enjoy! Use reference!
20. A grumpy old person/grandma(?)
Combining facial expressions and wrinkles/more complicated facial features is important.
21. A back alley
Have fun with this one :)))
22. Design a trashcan (with a personality)
Give the garbage bin a personality. Treat it as if you’re making a character sheet all over again (accept this time it’s an inanimate object.)
23. A biome of choice
Scenery, nature, do as you’d like.
24. Free
Do whatever you want
25. Yourself
As a goodbye and to show your progress ;)))
No deadline, improvement shouldn't be rushed!
Have fun ;)))
If you do it pls tag it with #dimpro challenge and/or tag me <3
