Was Sora asleep during the course of COM?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What initially made me consider such a thing was how there were two sides to COM much like 3D and Sora was sleeping on the 13th floor on his side while...he shows up on the 1st floor on Riku's side.
Tumblr media
Hence...COM is likely to be inside a dream.
Let's start with Marluxia. It's revealed in KH3 that he's capable of putting someone to sleep with the flick of his wrist.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You know, for someone who supposedly dies BEFORE Sora goes to sleep...He's sure smug about this. The fact that he knows about this at all is quite curious! Not to mention, Marluxia is the first person Sora encounters in COM even before he reaches Castle Oblivion. Could Marluxia have done this without them realizing it?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And what about the Nightmare Riku has to face off against in 3D? Does it kind of look...reminiscent of someone to you?
Now to Riku.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chirithy (Dream Eaters) are capable of discerning scents of both light and darkness. From the get-go of Riku's entrance to COM, he has the ability to smell light and darkness.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Often joked about, this is actually one of the biggest hints that Riku has been a Dream Eater for longer than we think.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And he continues this chain of behavior in Days while Sora sleeps. So if Riku shows some weird sign(s) of Dream Eater powers like smelling light and darkness or helping wake people like Xion up from horrible nightmares (Zexion was Riku's "twofold nightmare" in COM), odds are Sora is sleeping somewhere offscreen!
Finally, the lesson to be taken from this.
Tumblr media
With COM elements being brought up again after KH3, I think more may be revealed with time.

So, Chain of Memories was fun
Tumblr media
Not exactly fun to play, but fun. Fun stuff
Ultimately, especially in the latter half/quarter of the story, the game goes above and beyond to stress how everything that Sora goes through ties back to Kairi, who is (understandably) presented as the key to his memories, but. *Elton John voice* it's a little bit funny that-
Tumblr media
Naminé messes with Sora's memories so that "Me, Riku and Kairi" turns into "Me, Riku, Kairi and Naminé", then into "Me, Riku, and Naminé", and eventually into "Me and Naminé". Kairi is the first one to be "taken out" out his memories. (But Kairi now is also back home, safe. Which is possibly why the memories of her were modified first? No worries about her, easier access?)
Sora's reason for being in Castle Oblivion in the first place, though? For being so eager and desperate to keep going? The hook, line and sinker? Riku
(The person he promised to protect when he was little?
Tumblr media
... ͡• ͡• )
Replica Riku really jumped into the game with the steel chair. Immediately he acts as a source of insight into the real Riku's feelings and insecurities, but funnily enough what he says is also kind of a meta comment on the whole game itself. Sora did come here for him... and then halfway through the game he loses sight of his primary objective to focus on Naminé (and by proxy, implicitly, on Kairi)
Tumblr media
Kairi's function as a truly important person and as a light in the darkness carries over from KH1 into the end of CoM, after Marluxia & Co are defeated and Sora tells Naminé to restore his memories. And at the same time... ah
Tumblr media
The beginning of the game, with yet another steel chair. And it's especially telling that this dialogue with Aerith and the one with Axel happen almost back to back...
Tumblr media
... because at this point most of Sora's memories are intact: he remembers everyone, he doesn't think that he has have Naminé "in his heart", and he's perfectly conscious of why and for who he's here. Riku is presented as a truly important person and a light in the darkness as well. Directly in one case ("I'm the good fairy and I'm warning you to not lose your way"), indirectly in the other ("I'm the evil fairy and I'm inciting you to do just that").
Fun stuff :')
A couple of miscellaneous things that I didn't know how to integrate into the post (while playing the game I noticed other stuff scattered here and there too - there's some cute things even in the Winnie the Pooh world! - but I didn't want to make this post too obscene in length so I let them go) (+ obligatory special mention to the meteor shower. The meteor shower............):

The Young Xehanort inconsistencies

I want to slowly migrate some of my Kingdom Hearts lore musings instead of just sharing links:
Speaking of links, the original Google doc version of this post can be read HERE.
First up! The YMX doc that I had made after playing through the remainder of Dark Road's story.
Disclaimer: I will only reference material such as in-game cutscenes, interviews and Ultimanias, so other supplementary pieces such as the novels and the like will not be considered. Everything written here is my own personal interpretation. Interview translations were done by KHInsider.
Putting everything else under the cut cuz boy this is gonna be a long one-
First of all, let us review the updated timeline provided by KHDR itself:
----------------------------------------------------
So, Kingdom Hearts Dark Road did not shed light on a couple of things, Xehanort’s eyes becoming golden being just one example. While I cannot say anything concrete about the hows and whys behind the fact that his eye colour changes at some point in time, I CAN, however, make an educated guess as to why the time-travelling Young Xehanort seems to flip flop between gold and silver eyes.
Tumblr media
(Xehanort throughout time: 9 years ago, KHDR’s story, 7 years later and 54 years later)
Xehanort’s eyes are naturally silver throughout his youth. Chronologically, the first instance we see him with golden eyes, if we rule out time-travel, is when he is already in his late years, as an old man, 54 years AFTER KHDR. The latest point in time shown to us before that era is when Xehanort leaves Scala Ad Caelum, 7 years AFTER KHDR’s main story. Meaning, the point in which Xehanort’s eyes change colour can be ANYWHERE between age 22/23 and 69/70, assuming the Xehanort in the main campaign is 15/16 years old (if we take Nomura’s statement from TGS 2018, that old man Xehanort is around 80 into account).
Here’s the big kicker though: What about the time-travelling Young Xehanort? In both KHDDD and KHIII his eyes are gold. But then you might say: Well, maybe he was pulled from that blank period of time you just mentioned, his early 20s onwards? The problem with that is the fact that the encounter between Xehanort and the Master of Masters takes place only ONE YEAR after the main events of KHDR. Additionally, in the second part of that very same encounter Xehanort implies that he has already time-travelled at least once:
The MoM: Sounds like you already know where you’re headed. YX: It’s funny. Somehow, I can sense where I’m supposed to go, and what I’m supposed to do. Yes, even this coat, there’s something familiar about it, as if I’m meant to wear this.
This corresponds with what he told Sora in KHDDD:
Since in both KHIIIRM’s and KHDR’s version of the scene his eyes are silver, this means that upon time-travelling they become gold but upon returning they go back to silver. My answer for this ‘switch’ can only be the following:
YX: I will return to my time, and grow into the man who becomes all these others. While I know this future now that I have lived it, returning to my own time will erase the memories and experiences I have gained here. Still my appointed path is now etched in my heart, which will first lead me to seek the outside world. (will return to this part later in the post)
The old man Xehanort gave Young Xehanort a piece of his heart.
Which sounds kinda ridiculous (even for KH standards), but I can prove that might be the case. Let’s remember who makes up KHIII’s true Organization XIII:
The recompleted Master Xehanort, the version furthest on the timeline;
The recompleted people turned once more into Nobodies: Xigbar, Saix, Marluxia, Larxene, Luxord, Demyx and Vexen. The last two being reserve members;
The versions of Xehanort pulled from the past but came to be after KHBBS-era Master Xehanort: Terra-Xehanort, Xemnas and Ansem Seeker of Darkness;
The non-Xehanort characters pulled from the past: Vanitas, Xion and Dark Riku (Replitwo);
The first of the Xehanorts, the Xehanort of the most distant past: Young Xehanort.
You can see that none of the other members aside from YX originate from a time before KHBBS. And as it is now established, this iteration did not originally have golden eyes. To add onto that, as stated in group 4, these 3 were the only characters that travelled to the future by having their hearts be placed inside replicas and are not a version of Xehanort. Vanitas is debatable because we don’t  know if he had that eye colour inherently even when his face changed to reflect Sora’s or was it because of old man Xehanort. The statement about Vanitas originally having red eyes while he was still faceless does not apply because its source is solely the KHBBS novel, which is not canon material. Replitwo’s change is more noticeable since you can directly compare him with the original Riku Replica who even appears in the same scene as him at the very end. As for Xion’s change, it’s only visible if you bump up the brightness while her face is not fully covered or mod out the shadow cast by her hood. If there is a need for official confirmation that these 3 characters do come from the past look no further than this chart from the KHIII Ultimania:
Tumblr media
Do note that ‘eliminated’ can also refer to simply returning to their own time period but ceasing to exist in KHIII’s time as it’s said in Young Xehanort’s section of the very same chart.
Ok but, why would there be any need for this. Simple, that version of Xehanort was not ready to handle the darkness the same way old man Xehanort does yet. He needed the Black Coat or the armour or any other form of protection. And as seen in KHDR itself, were it not for the MoM saving him in the Dark Corridor, he would have perished. The following lines from the second encounter cement this further:
The MoM: No… you’ll ditch it soon. YX: What do you mean? The MoM: I mean that one day you’re going to outgrow it. YX: How so? The MoM: If you truly possess great power, the darkness can’t control you. You won’t need a silly old coat to stay safe. In fact, you’ll be the one controlling the darkness instead.
It wouldn’t seem far-fetched either knowing that the explanation behind the Young Xehanort boss fight at the end of KHDDD that the Ultimania provides is this:
Question: Did King Mickey’s time magic not work properly on Young Xehanort because Young Xehanort has the power to control time? Nomura’s answer: Not Young Xehanort’s but rather Master Xehanort’s power. King Mickey was surprised at the time, seeing his Keyblade and noticing he harboured the power of Master Xehanort…
Tumblr media
Additionally, aside from King Mickey, Master Xehanort and Young Xehanort are the only other characters who directly take note of Sora’s reckless usage of the Power of Waking in KHIII and KHIIIRM, meaning that at the very least, YX was imparted with such knowledge as well the power to transcend time, which he receives from potato sack Ansem SoD.
The secret endings to KHRe:Coded in the KH HD II.5 Remix collection are another piece of evidence, because we see YX already in place before KHDDD begins, ready to gather the remaining vessels. Meanwhile, since both Ansem SoD and Xemnas have been vanquished, Master Xehanort should by now exist at this point in time as himself given how the same thing has happened with the other ex-Nobodies of the Organization.
To add onto that video we finally have a confirmation from Nomura himself that yes, the design used in KHDR that depicts Young Xehanort’s time on the Destiny Islands is the correct version while the one used in KHBBS and KHDDD is outdated according the most recent Q&A:
Now here’s the funny part. When did Young Xehanort time-travel? Or a better question, if KHDR has revealed that his initial encounter with potato sack Ansem SoD was not the point from which he began his journey to the future but rather his what led him to Scala Ad Caelum… did he encounter him again at some point which finally did spur him to time-travel?
Sonny Novus made a video about how fleshing out Xehanort’s backstory by deaging him even further caused more problems in hindsight and I believe it still holds up so I recommend watching it if you haven’t done so by now.
Question: In previous titles, we saw the Xehanort who leaves Destiny Islands as a young man. He seems a lot younger in KHDR. Nomura’s answer: KHDR presents the correct version. For previous games, we used the young man model we already had as a catch-all symbolic representation of "his youth," in order to save cost modelling a young boy version. In KHIII, they were specifically split. I'd like you to interpret it as the symbolic representation becoming a rich one.
So the only time Young Xehanort could time-travel to the future while still having a consistent design with the one we see in KHDDD and KHIII can be anywhere between the point he changes his hairstyle and his second encounter with the MoM that takes place 1 year after KHDR’s main campaign. Thus, confirming that he could not have possibly transcended time after his first encounter with potato sack Ansem SoD. While it does go in line with the implication that at the time, Xehanort did not realise he was talking to a version of himself, it still contradicts another line in KHDDD by suggest that his now forgotten time-travelling escapades were not the reason he sought out the outside world by rather his dreams of the Player’s life (or lives).
YX: Still my appointed path is now etched in my heart, which will first lead me to seek the outside world.
Putting this contradiction aside, there should have been a second encounter between these two during that 1 year year interval. Either YX found his way back to Destiny Islands or has met potato sack Ansem SoD somewhere else, realising that he is a future version of himself, which would finally spur him to travel forward in time.
Now let’s address the other elephant in the room, Young Xehanort’s Keyblade. We still do not have an official name for it but what we do know is that it’s supposed to be No Name (the goat themed Keyblade) with the hourglass keychain you can see on No Name (the Keyblade you receive after defeating Mysterious Figure aka. Young Xehanort in the Land of Departure).
Nomura: That Keyblade was designed as the one Master Xehanort used in KHBBS combined with an hourglass, you see. (KHDDD Ultimania)
It’s weird, because you can easily interpret that scene in KHDDD as him technically borrowing MX’s. Not to mention that he does not use a Keyblade at all in his fight as the Mysterious Figure in KHBBS. But come KHIII and KHDR, where in the former, YX still uses his unique Keyblade, while in the latter he uses the nameless default Keyblade of that era (KHML has its own default Keyblade too judging from the footage) even during his encounters with the MoM. Let’s try to wrap our heads around this without just saying it’s a retcon that we should move on from:
Nomura changing his mind about plot beats and having genuine oversights is nothing new, there are more examples in this series one could ever hope for, like the eye colour switch that started this whole document. If you recall, the first time we have ever seen an even younger version of Xehanort was in KHIII’s E3 2015 trailer (man I feel old), where his eyes were gold. And in the finalised version of the same scene, his eyes have been changed to silver.
Ok, so let’s say that from YX’s own youth, without his time-travelling escapades, he wields the default Keyblade all the way until him and Eraqus become Keyblade Masters 6 years after KHDR’s main campaign, then they inherit No Name and Master’s Defender respectively to use them from that point onwards. Now winding back to the interval of about 1 year between the ending of KHDR and YX’s meeting with the MoM, you can say that he somehow gains another unique Keyblade upon travelling to the KHDDD era and decides to stick with it in KHIII as well. The time of KHBBS in which he travels to become the Mysterious Figure in order to grab Vanitas for the true Organization XIII, you can maybe stretch it and say that he possibly has foregone that unique Keyblade (or any at all) during that particular fight, much like how Xemnas does throughout the whole series despite also having the ability.
Tumblr media
From that you can guess that Nomura reconsidered the meaning of the golden eyes. Because from DDD (not counting BBS since that game only implied it) up until KHIII, when someone would have that colour it would mean they were a vessel of Xehanort or, if we are to use the fan-coined term, ‘norted’. I think we all collectively assumed that Anti-Aqua was actually one of the 13 vessels when she was revealed in KHIII’s Frozen trailer in E3 2018, only for that to not have been the case at all. If anyone needs a refresher for her Gummiphone entry:
Anti-Aqua: Aqua, after she fell to darkness. Years and years of wandering through the realm of darkness ended with her being cast into the watery depths beyond its margin.
Sure, for the members of the true Organization you can say that this still applies (again, Vanitas being debatable) but it’s not exclusively golden eyes = Xehanort’s influence anymore. It’s as if they are meant to represent darkness like they have been prior to KHDDD. And this change sort of makes sense, since the story’s focus is shifting heavily to be about the primordial darknesses and shifting back to how one can fall to darkness due to strong negative emotions. One can conclude that maybe Xehanort’s eyes have changed from silver to gold over time due to him actively trying to become a “dark vessel” as seen in KHDR, and that subsequently, since he has gained them, they have become a trait of his other selves. A parallel to this scenario is how the characters on the protagonist's side associate the Black Coat with the Organization even though, in truth, it dates back much further back into the past.
Like I’ve said before, KHDR did not manage to cover and explain every single facet of Xehanort’s life, for better or for worse. However, it did give a lot of context to preexisting scenes and other character moments in the series, and I think it did a good job at that. As for the remaining mysteries such as the now discussed golden eyes, the fate of Scala Ad Caelum and more, depends entirely on whether or not Nomura wants to or has the chance to flesh out, much like how KHDR’s existence itself was once in a lifetime opportunity to dive deeper into the mind of one of the most important antagonists in the series.
I know what you're probably thinking: the Dark Seeker Saga, which depicted the battle against Xehanort, finished with KINGDOM HEARTS III, didn't it? Well, it's a grey area, but I wouldn't call this title part of the Dark Seeker Saga. Why? Because this isn't about battling against Xehanort—it's about the battles of Xehanort. And maybe you're thinking that's a bit of a reach, but… okay, maybe it's a bit of a reach. However, I had the concept in my head for many years. It got shelved because it never really fitted what our team wanted. But around then, I heard from the Union X team that they'd like to do a parallel title with a new protagonist. And, since it seemed there was an unexpected number of Xehanort fans out there, it all came together like it was destined to be. I do tend to believe in destiny. (Tetsuya Nomura on the launch of KHDR in June 2020)
Author’s note: Sorry if this turned out to be more of a ramble than an actual theory post but… I wanted to say that… I feel content with this story, even without the answers I may have wanted. I still thoroughly enjoyed following Xehanort’s journey from start to finish, which made me like him more as a character even. Anyhow… thank you for bearing with me and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Preliminary Round: Kingdom Hearts
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sora and Riku vs Sora, Riku, and Kairi vs Larxene and Marluxia
Propaganda for Sora and Riku: "Look. I know that the kh fandom isn’t powerful enough to make them win but I swear they are perfect for this. They worked out like all their issues in the first game through weird villain betrayal arc bs and ever since then, they’ve been hopelessly in gay love and perfectly in sync. As soon as they had their whole reunion in KH2 the game entirely shifted to “let’s demonstrate how close Sora and Riku are in the most blatant of ways”. I’d highly recommend footage of their fight against the final boss Xemnas as proof of this, along with footage of their special duo Limit attack “Eternal Session”. There are multiple point at which they effortlessly hand their keyblades, special magic weapons that manifest from one’s heart, to each other in attacks. Apart from their synchronization in combat, they’re also extremely close as friends/possibly more. Riku is the only one trusted to dive into Sora’s heart to save him at the end of Dream Drop Distance, and in that game he also did the absolutely insane thing that is uh. He subconsciously changed his species to Dream Eater (lil magic dream creatures) (but Riku still looks human) because of his innate sense that Sora was in danger. Riku seems to have a sixth sense for Sora’s emotions in general because he once noticed Sora was crying before Sora even started crying (that was weird. Birth By Sleep) and noticed he was upset without looking (KH3, Keyblade Graveyard take 1). Sora also seems to consider Riku his first priority a lot, even choosing to keep looking for him to save him at the end of KH1 rather than to return to their home islands with their other friend Kairi (who is usually positioned as love interest, but it’s really lackluster and barely happening at this point and she’s just absent a lot and lacks characterization, and Sora seems to think a LOT more about Riku than he does about Kairi) and be safe. Riku’s dedication to Sora is kinda unhealthily dependent at times because he straight up spent a year once being depressed and fighting off possession while working himself to death trying to wake Sora up from a coma and recover his memories. And then spent another year later leading search efforts for Sora when he disappeared after KH3. Lastly, I am of course obligated to mention the Gayblade (no official name, move summoning it is called Nightmare’s End/Mirage Split), which is a special giant keyblade with heart decals and a paopu fruit (fruit that supposedly intertwines people’s destinies when they share one) and it’s like half light and half dark and is just straight up made from the two of them basically combining their hearts, which… if that’s not being in sync, what is? Sorry for ranting. Anyways, Soriku Endgame Actually, and please consider them for your poll."
Propaganda for Sora, Riku and Kairi: "Their Hearts are so connected to each other in so many way that more than once they brought each other back from death, in various combiantions. Also have you seen their combo finishers? They're so good."
Propaganda for Larxene and Marluxia: "(writing it down as Marluxia and Larxene for the sake of the poll runner's organization but let it be known that i also mean them as Lauriam and Elrena) You are not partner in crime for multiple millennias and multiple realities, finiding each other even after being separated by death, without being drift compatible. Also Sterlizia is with them in spirit, since it's her death that brought them together. Fight me on that." "Real ride or dies. They befriended each other while trying to find their missing sister/friend respectively, had to go to the future and (presumedly) lost their memories, and joined an evil organization. Upon meeting again, they decided everyone else sucked and the two of them attempted a coup. It failed and they kinda died. For whatever reason, Marluxia decided to rejoin afterwards and Larxene, who very clearly hates everyone else involved, follows along just to stick with him."

The story of Xehanort in the Kingdom Hearts series.
Convoluted and stupidly written, but honestly not that terrible when taken on its own.
Tumblr media
....But it's not on its own, is it?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Let's go red line by red line, shall we?
1 - From Xehanort's Report in BBS: Upon reflection, my life underwent the most considerable sea-change when I arrived at that place. Yes, it began when I found a Master, and another I would later call my brother—when I found a new home. And then later, to dispel any notion that he is talking about Scala ad Caelum, this is what he writes when mentioning bringing Ventus to the Land of Departure: I had not visited this second home of mine for some time, and discovered Eraqus had already found two pupils of his own. BBS established that the Land of Departure, not Scala ad Caelum, is where he received his training and met Eraqus.
2 - Let's look at Xehanort's Report again: I believe a balance of light and darkness is what sustains our World, but too much of the darkness has been stamped out, disrupting that balance. Someone must tear down this tyranny of light and reorganize the World around the darkness which then creeps back in. That's literally the opposite of saying an endless pollution of darkness is a problem. It's saying that an endless flow of darkness is good!
3 - First off, it's never explained how in blazes Young Xehanort can extract hearts when he's just a disembodied heart himself. More importantly, note that Xemnas, Xigbar, Saix, Luxord, Marluxia and Larxene are on that list, plus as we later learn Vexen and Demyx were brought in as reserves. If Nomura hadn't decided to pander and bring Xion back, Xaldin would have been there too! And yet in DDD, Xemnas says "most of the original members we had chosen for the Organization were inadequate" for the "true" Organization XIII!
4 - Why is Master Xehanort the one recompleted when it was Terra-Xehanort who actually split into a Heartless and a Nobody? Master Xehanort's original body was not in any way a part of Xemnas, so why does he get it back after Xemnas' death?
5 - How and why is the Master of Masters even here? Why does he need to give Xehanort his black coat when he should have already gotten it for his time traveling venture earlier? Why does Xehanort need to tour the worlds and come to this conclusion when he basically already did in Dark Road? How many excuses to become evil does this asshole need?
6 - See Point 1 again.
7 - What Xehanort spoke and wrote about, and was even shown attempting to do in BBS, was to forge the X-Blade to destroy the worlds' barriers and start another Keyblade War among the masses of the universe so that the darkness in their hearts engulfs the universe and then from there he can create a new one. So why, by KH3, is his plan suddenly to have a small-scale Keyblade War to forge the X-Blade and then just use the X-Blade's power to engulf the universe in darkness all by himself?
8 - Except that it's later said that Vanitas did NOT actually come from the darkness of Ven's heart and was a dark entity hiding inside his heart. Dark Road then shows that Xehanort became aware of this fact! So why even still call him Vanitas, and why do Xehanort and Vanitas himself still act as though he's a part of Ven?
9 - Calling himself Ansem might have made sense had he never recovered his original memories and went back to pursuing his original goal. But as this then goes on to say, he did! So why even pretend to be Ansem at all? What does he gain by that?
10 - So then why did he specifically write in a report that he was discarding his body in order to communicate with the Heartless and fully utilize the powers of darkness? Why did he say he'd "come to see the door" to Destiny Islands' heart if he was actually just on Destiny Islands the whole time? Why did he have such a dismissive attitude toward Sora as though he were insignificant if he knew he was important enough to mark with a Recusant's Sigil? And if his goal was the Seven Princesses themselves, why did he tell Kairi "The Keyhole is now complete. You have served your purpose, but now it's over"? And yeah, why enter the Final Keyhole at all? Again, whatever he did as Ansem's apprentice shouldn't really matter anymore if he fully remembers that he's Master Xehanort!
11 - For that matter, how did he not know that Kingdom Hearts was light!? It being light is a fundamental part of both the Keyblade War legend and Master Xehanort's grand objective!
12 - All right, let's go back to Xehanort's report in BBS: It is only forged when two hearts of equal power intersect—one heart of pure darkness, one heart of pure light. Why write this as an absolute fact if it's not, in fact, the proper way to forge the X-Blade and you're supposed to have 7 hearts of light and 13 hearts of darkness?
13 - Xemnas himself writes in a secret report in Days: We embarked upon the Replica Program to ensure our new power stays ours. So the Replica Program was only started after Roxas was found as a means to copy the power of the Keyblade, not to have extra vessels for Xehanort. There is no reason for Xemnas to lie about that in his own private writing.
14 - See Point 10 again.
15 - See Point 4 again.
16 - See Point 7 again.
17 - So after all of this, depicting a villain so omnipotent that he transcended space and time, built flawless contingencies for failure, predicted his enemies' every move, amassed a veritable army of dark pawns and followers including multiple versions of himself, and was perceptive enough to notice things like Vanitas not being what he presented himself to be....you're really saying someone like that never noticed that Xigbar was playing an angle far beyond just obtaining his Keyblade? Or that the weird guy he met that one time as a teenager might be more than he let on and manipulating him for something that differed from his own objectives? Or, heck, that such a person who went through such lengths would just easily give up because the best friend he murdered and thought nothing of it told him to!?
Worst-written video game villain EVER. It's hilarious that this series' blind stans will say "oh, the story isn't really that confusing, you just need to really pay attention to all the games" when this one character proves that paying attention to all the games is part of what makes the story so confusing due to all the damn contradictions, inconsistencies and retcons!

Kingdom Hearts II: Final MIx Recap: Twilight Town (The 6th Day)
Okay first of all, forgot to mention something about Day 4 (I was looking at vanilla KH2’s bonus levels instead of Final Mix’s): You get Scan upon defeating Axel at the Sandlot. In case you’ve forgotten, Scan was the ability that made the enemy’s HP gauges visible when you targeted them in KH1. After Chain of Memories had that as a default feature, KH2 has brought it back as a toggleable ability.
Now, back to our regularly scheduled existential dread:
“Gawrsh, is that all that’s left of the worlds taken by the Heartless?” Goofy questions as the camera pans over the Final Dimension (the watery plane with all the rocks and globs of darkness) at the End of the World.
“Those worlds will be restored if we beat Ansem, right?” Sora asks, “But, if we do beat him and all these worlds become restored and disconnected,” static cut to the start of the battle with Chernabog, “what’s gonna happen to this place? And to us?”
“All worlds begin in darkness,” Ansem says as static and code cuts from Chernabog’s awakening to Riku-Ansem’s physical transformation into the Seeker of Darkness, “and all so end. The heart is no different.” Jump cut to Sora’s duel with Ansem after the Darkside rematch. “You see, darkness is the heart’s true essence.”
“That’s not true!” Sora flies out of the darkness and summons his Keyblade to challenge Ansem’s World of Chaos at the Door to Darkness, “The heart may be weak.” Donald and Goofy are sucked into one of the World of Chaos’ dark portals. “And sometimes, it may even give in.” Ansem brandishes his double-bladed staff as he emerges from the World of Chaos’ gut in his ultimate form. “But I’ve learned that deep down,” Sora dives into a dark portal that Ansem opened. The explosions erupt all over the World of Chaos’ body as a result of the beating Sora, Donald, and Goofy gave it, “there’s a light that never goes out!”
Static jump to Ansem’s final gambit.
“KINGDOM HEARTS!!! FILL ME WITH THE POWER OF DARKNESS!!!”
“You’re wrong,” Sora cuts in, “I know now, without a doubt.” A bright line shines from within the Door to Darkness and strikes Ansem. “Kingdom Hearts, is LIGHT!”
Ansem is obliterated by the light of Kingdom Hearts.
“Now Sora!” His Majesty King Mickey declares as he holds his Keyblade high, “Let’s close this door for good!”
Sora, Donald, and Goofy manage to close the door, sealing Riku and the King on the other side.
“Take care of her,” Riku requests.
Sora and the King use their Keyblades to seal the Door to Darkness, the gateway to the Dark World vanishing in a flash of light.
“Kairi!” Sora shouts as he runs up to her.
“Sora!” Kairi calls out.
Destiny Islands’ restoration physically pulls the two away from each other, even as they reach out and hold onto each other’s hands.
“Kairi, remember what you said before?” Sora asks, “I’m always with you too! I’ll come back to you. I promise!”
“I know you will!”
They are pulled away from each other as the End of the World disappears.
Everything fades to white.
Eerie music plays as we cut to Sora, Donald, and Goofy walk down the path in the unknown world from the first game’s ending.
“Well, now what do we do?” Donald questions.
“We’ve gotta find Riku and King Mickey!” Sora answers, his arms folded behind his head.
“But, uh, where do we start lookin’ for that there door to the light?” Goofy asks.
Static jumpcut to Pluto arriving with another letter from the King.
Donald’s surprised to see him, but Goofy recognizes the King’s seal.
Sora asks Pluto if he’s seen King Mickey, and Pluto runs up the hill.
Sora beckons for Donald and Goofy (and seemingly the player, thanks to the camera angle) to follow him as Pluto awkwardly slides up hill due to his run cycle for that scene not being animated properly.
Static cut to later that night, where Sora first encountered Marluxia at the crossroads.
Marluxia brings Sora’s attention to the road to Castle Oblivion as he vanishes.
Static jump cut to Sora, Donald, and Goofy arriving at Castle Oblivion’s exterior.
The memory severely stutters and glitches, before abruptly blinking out.
Sora’s memories from before he entered Castle Oblivion have all been restored.
On a dark beach, Two Keyblades Guy approaches the Unknown.
“I’ve been to see him,” the Unknown states, “He looks a lot like you.”
“Who are you,” Two Keyblades Guy asks, in Roxas’ voice.
Fade to white.
Dark portals open on pavement, Neoshadows emerging from the dark depths.
In a dark city, Roxas, still covered head to toe in his black coat, is surrounded by them.
He summons first Oathkeeper to his left hand, then Oblivion to his right.
Fade to black.
He strikes down a Neoshadow, then looks up the skyscraper behind him.
A blindfolded Riku stands atop its roof, clad in the same black coat as Roxas.
Roxas charges up the side of the skyscraper and throws Oblivion at Riku, who catches the Keyblade.
Time slows down as they pass one another.
As soon as the last Neoshadow falls, the two turn their Keyblades on each other.
“Why?!” a defeated Riku shouts, “Why do you have the Keyblade?”
Roxas considers Oathkeeper for a second.
“Shut up!” he snaps, before swinging the Keyblade at Riku.
Fade to white.
Roxas wakes up in his bed, a howling whistling playing over the eerie silence.
As he steps out of bed and turns to face the window, his appearance fades between Sora’s and his own twice, before settling on his own.
The sixth day has begun.
Hayner, Pence, and Olette are already chatting at the Secret Place when Roxas arrives.
“Man, I could not sleep last night…” Roxas admits as he approaches them.
The trio don’t acknowledge him.
“Guys?” Roxas tries to get Hayner’s attention, only for his hand to go right through the other boy’s shoulder.
Hayner, Pence, and Olette turn around and race out of the Usual Spot, phasing right through Roxas in the process.
Roxas steps up to examine the photo they took in front of the Old Mansion.
He’s been erased from it.
It is as if Roxas is the ghost of a boy who never existed.
The Usual Spot’s Save Point is right there. Use it before you leave. From this point on, the Field Music will not play. The only music you’ll hear is in battles and cutscenes. Eerie ambience is the only soundtrack you’ll get when safe.
When Roxas steps outside, there’s no townspeople to great him.
Then, Dusks emerge to block both of his exits through either end of the alleyway.
Axel emerges behind him, blocking off the entrance to the Usual Spot.
“Look at what it’s come to,” he states, “I’ve been given these icky orders to destroy you if you refuse to come back with me.”
“We’re… best friends, right?” Roxas asks, not entirely sure of the truth of those words himself.
“Sure… But I’m not going to get myself turned into a Dusk for…” Axel’s voice trails off as he registers what Roxas just said, “Wait a sec! You remember now?”
“Y-yeah,” Roxas bluffs.
“Great!” Axel exclaims, “But, y’know, gotta make sure and all. So, umm…” Axel’s voice trails off. “What’s our boss’s name?”
Roxas can’t answer, nor can he find an escape route.
“Can’t believe this…” Axel groans.
Roxas picks up the stick laying at his feet, the Keyblade summoning over it.
You now have to fight Axel’s minions.
In addition to Dusks, he has his own servants called Assassins. These entities are still humanoid, but are hunched over, can sink into the ground, and their spiky tentacle arms are made out of knives.
Also, they can and will kamikaze you when low on HP, so be wary of that.
Axel already has his chakrams ready when Roxas fells the last of his minions, and winds his arm back to throw one.
At that moment, he freezes in place, much to Roxas’ confusion.
“Roxas, to the mansion!” DiZ’s voice echoes, “The time has come!”
“Hayner! Pence! Olette!” Roxas calls out.
But nobody came.
Axel will remain frozen here until you leave.
Upon leaving, we remain with Axel after he’s unfrozen.
“The Roxas that I know is long gone,” he observes, “Fine, I see how it is.”
This is the equivalent to the dark storm form the final night of Destiny Islands, as Roxas will now encounter enemies wherever he goes, until he reaches the mansion through that hole in the wall in the market.
The entire town is deserted except for those enemies.
Thankfully, you now permanently have the Keyblade, so dealing with them is simple enough.
When Roxas arrives at the mansion gates, he finds that they are still locked, much to his annoyance as more Dusks arrive to surround him.
However, he then remembers Sora using the Keyblade to lock and unlock things and realizes that he can use his own Keyblade to unlock and open the gates, the lock vanishing as he does so, dashing into the mansion to escape his pursuers.
Ansem intercepts the Dusks before they can follow him, the gate closing on its own, brandishing Soul Eater to challenge his adversaries.
You can no longer return to the town.
The Old Mansion has seven chests for Roxas to find, and this is your only chance to open them. There are two rooms to visit on the first floor, and a third on the second floor. Grab all the chests in the foyer, library, and dining room before going to the second floor.
Also, if you have the Command Menu themes turned on, the Command Menu will switch from a Twilight Town theme to a Mansion-specific theme.
While you’re in the library, you’ll notice a unicorn statue that’s staring at the floor.
On the second floor, Roxas comes across the white room from the previous day. He investigates the drawings, and finds one of himself in a black coat, fleeing somewhere.
He grips his head as the memories return to him.
Roxas walks through the same dark city from his earlier flashback, now with his hood down, and walks past Axel.
Axel asks Roxas if his mind is made up, and Roxas in turn asks why the Keyblade chose him.
“I have to find out,” he insists.
“You can’t turn on the Organization!” Axel protests.
The memory ends, as does the headache.
Roxas turns to find Naminé seated on the opposite end of the table, right by the door into the room.
“Organization XIII…” Roxas reflects, “they’re a bad group.”
“Bad or good, I don’t know,” Naminé admits, “They’re a group of incomplete people who wish to be whole. To that end, they are desperately searching for something.”
“What?” Roxas questions.
“Kingdom Hearts.”
Roxas chuckles.
“Funny?”
“It’s just,” he approaches the table, “I think- I’ve been running away from the question I really wanna ask:
“What’s gonna happen to me now? Just tell me that.”
He looks away.
“Nothing else really matters anymore.”
“You are…” Gridlines interrupt Naminé, and she is deleted before she can answer Roxas’ question.
“There’s no knowledge that has the power to change your fate,” DiZ declares as he materializes next to the fading Naminé.
“Even if it doesn’t, I wanna know,” Roxas snaps, “I have the right to know!”
“A Nobody doesn’t have a right to know!” DiZ retorts, “Nor does it even have the right to be.”
“But what is a Nobody?” Roxas asks.
Ansem teleports into the room.
“DiZ, we’re out of time,” he warns, “Too many Nobodies!”
A dark portal opens next to DiZ, and the real Naminé steps out.
“Roxas. Nobodies like us are only half a person,” she explains, “You won’t disappear. You’ll be whole!”
Roxas, does not take this statement at face value.
“I’ll… Disappear.”
“No further outbursts!” DiZ snaps.
“No! You won’t disappear! You’ll-” DiZ grabs Naminé and covers her mouth.
Roxas tries to rescue her, but Ansem intercepts.
Namé pulls DiZ’s hand off of her mouth.
“Roxas! We will meet again. And then we can talk about everything,” she promises as she struggles against DiZ’s grip, “I may not know it’s you, and you may not know it’s me. But we will meet again. Someday soon. I promise!”
DiZ drags her into the portal and closes it behind him, in spite of Roxas’ protests, Ansem vanishing soon after.
In the Manga, DiZ follows this off by violently throwing her into a closet while seething with barely contained rage at her continued existence, locks her in it, and then yells at Ansem for not killing her. Ansem replies by reminding DiZ that he is DiZ’s ally, not his subordinate, and tells him that if he wants to kill Naminé, then he should do it himself, before leaving Naminé at his mercy, apathetic to both of them now that he’s gotten what he wants from them.
However, Naminé did leave behind her sketchpad, which Roxas can now take with him.
And it has a symbol just like the one on the table in the library.
There’s also a Save Point you can use, and given that Nobodies are swarming the Mansion, you should absolutely use it.
And speaking of things you should use in this room, the Command Menu changes from the Mansion Themed Design to a Chain of Memories Themed Design if you have the Command Menu Themes turned on, but only while you are in the White Room.
If you go down to the library with the sketchpad, Roxas will notice that there are three circles on the table symbol.
In the sketchpad, however, the top left circle has the Heartless symbol, the top right has the Organization’s emblem, and the bottom circle has a crown in it.
Once all three circles are filled in, the table and the floor beneath it begins to dissolve into light, forcing Roxas to run up to the edge of the room as the floor fades away to reveal a staircase into a surprisingly high-tech hideout.
There’s a door at the bottom of the stairway that leads into the Computer Room.
Upon entering the Computer Room, we see the very same computer DiZ had been sitting at for much of the earlier days, right next to a cylindrical machine.
Roxas’ ears ring when he approaches the computer, and he gets another piercing headache, flashing back to his own past once again.
Organization XIII’s theme plays as we zoom in on the round room from Day 4, Where Nothing Gathers.
The Unknown sits at the apex.
III, Lexaeus, VII, IX, and Marluxia sit at his left.
II, Vexen, Zexion, Axel, X, and Larxene sit at his right.
Roxas sits opposite to him.
In the Dark City, Roxas flees some Dusks.
“Why?! Why do you have the Keyblade?” a defeated Riku asks.
Roxas contemplates Oathkeeper.
“Shut up!” he swings his Keyblade at Riku, who picks up Oblivion and slashes back, knocking Roxas away and causing his hood to fall down, revealing the rogue Nobody’s face.
Riku approaches Roxas as the screen fades to black.
An unconscious Roxas sits in the cylindrical machine I answered earlier, DiZ and Ansem standing over him.
“Will it work?” Ansem asks.
“If we can maintain the simulated town until Naminé finishes chaining together Sora’s memories,” DiZ answers.
Ansem follows up with “What will happen to Roxas?”
“He holds half of Sora’s power within him,” DiZ opens, before turning to his computer, “In the end, he’ll have to give it back.” DiZ approaches the console. “Until then, he’ll need another personality to throw off his pursuers.”
“Poor thing,” Ansem sincerely laments.
“It’s the fate of a Nobody,” DiZ dismisses as he takes his seat.
In a flash of light, Roxas’ is converted to data.
Back in the present, Roxas is overcome with rage.
With no way to open the link from inside the simulation, all he can do is scream and smash apart the computer with his Keyblade, unleashing all of his anger, hate, and frustration onto the symbol of DiZ’s power. He doesn’t let up until the main screens and the keyboards are broken beyond repair, the extra screens on the walls being the only functioning technology left in the room.
An automatic door behind Roxas opens.
Here in the basement, your Command Menu theme changes to match the aesthetic of the Computer Room.
In the next room, the Basement Hall, Roxas is immediately jumped by Nobodies.
The battle consists of four Dusks and two Assassins. Once Roxas has felled the last one, Axel arrives.
“Simply amazing, Roxas,” he taunts.
“Axel.”
“You really do remember me this time?” Axel turns to face Roxas, “I’m SO FLATTERED!”
A wall of flame encompasses both himself and Roxas, trapping the younger Nobody with the Organization’s assassin.
“BUT IT’S TOO LATE!” Axel declares.
Roxas summons Oathkeeper to his left hand and Oblivion to his right.
“Two?!” Axel gasps. He calls upon the flames forming his firewall, forming them into his Chakrams, and grins.
It’s time to fight Axel for real. Roxas can Dual Wield for the duration of the battle, but Axel has his own tricks.
At the start of the battle Axel shouts “Burn baby!” and melts the floor, which will slowly chip away at Roxas’ health, and you have a finite amount of healing items to solve that with.
Additionally, Axel can leap into and out of the wall of flame encompassing the field to jump Roxas, throw his chakrams, and yet fiery death at Roxas from any angle.
However, when Axel leaps from the firewall, you can use the Burst Edge Reaction Command, which will cause Roxas to avoid Axel’s attack and throw one of his Keyblades at him to knock him away. This allows Roxas to follow up with Overtaker, wherein Roxas chases Axel up the firewall. This chain of Reaction Commands finishes with Clearing Light, wherein Roxas kicks off the flames, knocks Axel to the ground, and summons beams of light that unmelt the floor, allowing him to wail on Axel without worrying about his draining HP.
Surprisingly, none of these attacks deal any damage to Axel.
Axel can remelt the floor at any time, but hitting Axel with any knockback will allow you to use Overtaker to get started on fixing that.
Eventually, Roxas is able to defeat Axel.
The flames die down as Axel is barely able to stand, Roxas finally able to lower his Keyblades.
Flashback to their final conversation, when Roxas ditched the Organization.
“You get on their bad side and they’ll destroy you!” Axel explains.
“No one would miss me,” Roxas states as he walks away.
“That’s not true,” Axel solemnly protests, “I would.”
Return to the present.
“Axel…”
“Let’s meet again in the next life,” Axel suggests.
“Yeah,” Roxas agrees, “I’ll be waiting.
“Silly,” Axel opens as dark wisps envelop his fading body, “Just because you have a next life…”
He fades away.
The dark portal Axel entered through is still here, but some kind of power keeps Roxas from entering it.
The next doorway leads to a room full of the pods from the ending of Sora’s story.
Roxas recognizes Donald and Goofy in the cutscene that plays upon entering this room.
However, examining the other pods reveals that some were used recently, others haven’t been used in years, and one is still warm.
This is never explained.
There is a single chest in this room, containing a Hi Potion.
If you progress into the next room without opening this chest, it will forever be lost to you.
In the next room, we find DiZ, and the pod who holds Sora.
DiZ greets the Keyblade’s chosen one, and Roxas asks if he’s talking to him, or to Sora.
“To half of Sora, of course,” DiZ answers, “You reside in darkness. What I need is someone who can move about the realm of light and destroy Organization XIII.”
“Why?” Roxas asks, “Who are you?”
“I am a servant of the world,” DiZ answers, before laughing. “And if I’m a servant, then you should consider yourself a tool at best.”
“Was that… Was that supposed to be a joke?” Roxas growls as he summons the Kingdom Key, “Because I’m not laughing!”
Roxas charges DiZ and swings his Keyblade, only for it to pass right through his code without even scratching him.
“My apologies,” DiZ taunts as Roxas grits his teeth, “This is only a data-based projection.”
Roxas has finally had enough and screams before futily hacking and slashing at the rapidly fading projection, only stopping after DiZ vanishes and his own arms are too tired to lift the Keyblade, leaving the Nobody struggling to catch his breath.
“Come, over here,” DiZ says from behind Roxas.
“I hate you so much…” Roxas snarls.
“You should share some of that hatred with Sora,” DiZ suggests, “He is far too nice for his own good.”
“No!” Roxas snaps, “My heart belongs to me!”
Roxas charges DiZ, who vanishes right as the Keyblade would’ve sliced through him.
The pod gradually opens.
Roxas turns his glare towards the occupant of the pod as his own theme starts playing.
“Sora…” he opens as he gazes at Sora’s sleeping form.
Sora’s undergone a growth spurt since Naminé put him to sleep several months prior.
Roxas drops his fighting stance and approaches the pod.
“You’re lucky,” he notes, “It looks like my summer vacation is…
“Over.”
Fade to white.
Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix has officially begun.

Just A Chance Chapter One
Tumblr media
Current Chapter | Next Chapter ->
In the halls of Castle Oblivion, Marluxia and Larxene were trying to decide the answer to a question. It had been a question mulled over for weeks between the two of them. Should they bring Roxas into the fold, or not?
Marluxia was one of his earlier tutors during his missions with the Organization, but it had taken some time for Larxene to see him in action. Evidence which they wanted before making a decision. Evidence they finally had with Larxene’s mission with him. Marluxia asked, “What do you think?” Larxene snorted, crossing her arms, “If the kid had a few more weeks of experience, sure, he’d be passable.” She waved her hand dismissively, “But look at him! He’s still a space case!” Marluxia closed his eyes and sighed at the complaints, “Still, the keyblade is a boon we cannot ignore. If we want him on our side, we need to make a move now.” “So we could recruit someone who’s initially a bit of dead weight, that could either become really useful or stay useless. Or we just leave him as is, and miss out on whatever he becomes.” “Either way, we take a chance.” He looked down the hall to where their prisoner was kept, “Naminé’s powers could bring Sora under our control. But it may be prudent to have a backup plan.” Larxene toyed with the possibility in her mind. In one existence she chose the chance that Roxas would not bring them value. Here? “Let’s do it.”
Tumblr media
It was another night in the grey area. At least that was the name Roxas knew for the room. He had walked in, ready to talk to Saïx for a new mission. But this time he was busy, two other members were talking with him. What were their names? “This is risky Marluxia. He is inexperienced.” Yeah, that was it. Marluxia, he crossed his arms as he talked, “His ability is irregular, as is his progress. I believe that it may be worth it to take a chance on this deployment.” Saïx’s eyes narrowed, “Very well. But keep in mind we will be watching.” “Oh, don’t worry.” Larxene, he could recall, “We won’t let the rookie get too far out of his depth.” Rookie? Well, there was Xion, but she only did one mission as far as he knew. So they must be talking about… Larxene caught sight of him from the corner of her eye, and turned to face him with a smile. “Ah, speak of the devil. Roxas, we’ve got a proposition for you.” Why did that smile make him uncomfortable? “We would like you to come with us to our deployment to Castle Oblivion.” Marluxia offered a hand to Roxas. Saïx stepped forward past the duo, eyes fixed on Roxas, “The choice is yours. This assignment is of crucial importance to our Organization, and we are taking a chance in sending you. The slightest misstep will be judged harshly. However, should you prove yourself in this, you will be recognized.” It sounded dangerous, it sounded different. Roxas wasn’t sure what to make of it for a moment. In the end however, he was driven by the simple desire to do something more.
Tumblr media
Larxene opened the door to another white room, but this one had a bed. “So. This is gonna be where you sleep. Not quite like home, but it’ll do.” Roxas frowned, since it seemed about the same as his old room really. Blank, empty, quiet. Same as the rest of Castle Oblivion. And so he nodded, “Alright. I should be able to sleep here.” “Good, we are almost done with our tour.” Marluxia began leading the two of them further down the large empty hall. For the moment, he was thankful for the directions. Even though Castle Oblivion was pretty similar to The Castle That Never Was, it was even easier to get lost here. Not to mention, there were now heartless around some of the floors. Still, while he didn’t get the occasional view of the city below, he had some way to keep himself from getting too bored. Even if it was technically work. Coming to a stop at the door, Marluxia turned to Roxas. “In this room is a powerful nobody we are keeping here.” Larxene rolled her eyes, “Honestly, Nobody is a bit too much to describe-” “She is close enough for Roxas’ understanding.” Marluxia cut her off, leaving her to wave her hand dismissively at him. “She is to be kept in this room or accompanied by an Organization member at all times. Is that clear?” He nodded. “Yeah.” Larxene learned right into his face “Yeah? Yeah, what Roxas?” Honestly, did she really need him to repeat everything? Roxas looked her in the eyes, “The nobody here is powerful. We’re supposed to keep them in this room, or have one of us with...her?” Roxas blinks as he registers that last word. “They’re not like the dusks or other lesser nobodies?” “Correct.” Marluxia nodded, and opened the door. Larxene stood up and strode across the room. “Guess what Naminé? There’s someone new here, and they’re about your age too!” Roxas looked across the room to where Larxene was, and saw seated a blonde girl in a white dress. In her hands were a crayon and a notepad, and her eyes seemed fixed on him. At first glance, Naminé immediately stood out in his mind as she contrasted with the nobodies in black robes that he knew. Not to mention, she was someone he could describe as… Beautiful? Was that the word? The only other comparison he had for her was Xion. But more than that, Naminé seemed so familiar. As if he knew her before he was in the Organization... Marluxia put a hand on his shoulder, ending his contemplation, “Naminé, this is Roxas. He will be with us from now on in Castle Oblivion.” Walking over, Marluxia snatched away the crayon and notepad Naminé held, any sign of distress ignored, “You are to treat him with the same respect given to the rest of us. As always, do not let this distract you in your duties.” A pause hung over the room Marluxia spoke more sharply, “Am I clear?” The girl frowned and gave a small nod, only to have Larxene clap her on the shoulder and sneer, “Come on Naminé, you can do better than that. Use your words!” “I…” Naminé flinched at the touch, “I understand.” “Good. Continue your preparations.” He tossed Naminé’s tools back to her. ”Roxas, I trust you will make yourself at home.” With Marluxia’s words, the two seniors of the Organization vanished into darkness and left the younger Nobodies. And Roxas was left alone with his thoughts. And Naminé fumbling to pick up the notepad and crayon. Marluxia and Larxene were treating her little differently than he was treated during his training. So why? Why did watching them jeer at Naminé like that make him sick? She picked her notepad up, sighing. But as Naminé looked up towards him, she gasped softly. “You’re still here? I thought you’d leave.” Well, that left an interesting question, why was he still here? Well, if he had to be honest, “I wanted to know if you were okay.” A pause, and then she answered quietly, “It doesn’t matter.” She held her notepad and crayon close to her and shook her head, “I’m a nobody.” Roxas frowned, not quite accepting the explanation, “That doesn’t mean you can’t get hurt.” Naminé looked to the side and muttered, “It’s to keep me from getting out of line.” “But I don’t think you’re someone who would do anything bad.” the more he heard, the less it made sense, Naminé barely seemed like any kind of threat. So why were they treating her so badly? “You think so?” The way she spoke, how she began to look him in the eye. It seemed like Naminé desperately wanted it to be true. “I don’t know if the power I have can even be used for anything good.” Roxas was somewhat stumped by that, shaking his head, “Well, I’m not sure I can help you there. I don’t even know what your power is. I just know that you’re nice.” Naminé stared at him, and for the first time, she smiled. “Thank you.” While Roxas didn’t know a lot of things, he was certain he liked seeing Naminé smile. Just then, a swirl of darkness interrupted their conversation, as a familiar redhead stepped out of the portal, “Hey, just coming to make sure everything was okay. Tour’s over and all, you can go rest up.” Axel shrugged, “Unless you need help getting to your room. I know we kinda take the doors to darkness for granted and all but-” “I remember the way back. I just wanted to talk to Naminé.” the interruption caused Axel to pause and raise an eyebrow. Roxas turned towards him, “That’s not a problem is it?” Axel shrugged, “Suit yourself, but still, you might want to head back to your room and get some rest, alright? It’d be a shame if a heartless got to you because you didn’t get some shut eye.” Axel gave a wave, and vanished back into darkness. Walking towards the door Roxas yawned. “Guess I am tired though. It’s been a long day with the tour and everything.” “Will you...” He stopped as Naminé spoke up “Will you see me again tomorrow?” “Yeah.” Roxas nodded, “I promise.” It seemed like a simple enough promise, and he wanted to keep it.

Kingdom Hearts Actor AU
I mentioned in an older post I had found my notes on a KH Actor Au so here it is! Just a general overview of the characters and their relationships with each other.
Wayfinders/BBS:
·        Aqua was a child actor but BBS was her first major production.
·        Her and Terra are old friends who kind of fell out of contact and hadn’t seen each other in years. Only meeting again during the production of BBS.
·        Terra is Eraqus’ son (Single father life). Eraqus is also a seasoned actor.
·        Aqua, Terra, Ventus, and Vanitas develop a close friendship while on set. Ven and Van already knowing each other since their little brothers go to the same summer camp and had become friends.
·        Ventus constantly teases Terra that he has a crush on Aqua. Vanitas helps and Terra is in denial.
·        Xehanort is the oldest cast member in the series. He’s a well know veteran actor. He and Eraqus grew up together. He also has two adult sons who he fell out of contact with due to issues between the two boys and eventually him.
·        Vanitas deliberately likes to tease and rile up Ventus before their scenes together to make it more real. He also just likes to annoy his fellow actors in general.
·        Most Disney and Final Fantasy characters are either veterans or well-known in the field.
Destiny Trio/KH1:
·        Sora, Riku, & Kairi are actual friends who grew up in the same neighborhood.
o   Sora and Riku have known each other the longest.
o   Kairi moved there with her sister and father when she was 5.
·        Vanitas is Sora’s older brother and he’s two years older than Ventus.
·        Sora, Leon, & Aerith are cousins who had zero clue that they where all going to be in the same production. It was a pleasant surprise.
·        Roxas and Ventus are also brothers, but not twins. There is a 3-year age gap between them. (Makeup and special effects make them look the alike.)
·        Kairi and Xion are twins and Namine is their cousin.
o   Namine is adopted and has two dads.
·        During the filming for KH1 Vanitas was behind the scenes for the beginning as a way to support the kids. He even introducing them to his Disney costars.
·        Riku had a lot of family matters going on which is why his scenes are so spread out.
·        Kairi got really sick during production which sucked cause she was supposed to have a bigger role.
·        Ansem is a really tall and relatively big guy. He actually ended up scaring the kids the first time around. He ended up getting them ice cream as an apology.
o   He also lets the kids pretend to beat him up. It’s hilarious because all you see is this like 6ft man running away from a bunch of preteens who will end up dogpiling him.
·        Sora and Yuffie became fast friends and pulled pranks on set.
The Nobodies:
·        During production of Days Roxas became close friends with Xion and Namine.
o   Once Xion had saw Nami on set she immediately phoned Kairi to get her butt on set. The three girls hadn’t seen each other in like 2ish years since Namine ended up moving due to her dads work.
·        Kairi would come around often enough that her and Roxas developed a friendship of their own.
·        Roxas got along well with Riku even though the two did butt heads from time to time.
·        Demyx is an actual musician. (Sora is a big fan)
·        Larxene and Marluxia have been in multiple productions together where they played partner roles with each other. Their dynamic made them perfect for the partners in crime role.
o   People assume they’re dating, but no. They live together but in the “We have been friends since we were babies and now, we ride or die” way.
·        Zexion and Vexen went to the same high school.
·        Xaldin & Lexaeus have been in very small roles. Days, COM, & 2 are their first big roles
o   Lexaeus did standup comedy for a time before pursuing acting.
·        Xigbar has had a rough carrier. Lots of ups and downs. He was even surprised he got a part.
·        Xemnas was semi-reluctant to even consider signing up for the role. Him and Ansem are brothers who had a falling out years before and haven’t talked since. Xehanort is their father (surprise surprise).
o   Xemnas’ character is a full 180 of his actual personality. Everyone finds it unsettling and hilarious when he switches into acting mood only to find him stuffing his face with pudding hours later.
·        Axel and Saix are old acting buddies. Axel has a crush on him, but Saix is oblivious as hell. Roxas, Xion, Nami, & Kairi tease him about it.
o   Speaking of Saix, he’s great with kids.
Demyx and Roxas ended up writing a song together on while on set. After Days was completed the two showed off their new song at the postproduction after party.

Okay. So this is like, the funniest prompt that I found, wrote a bit for, and forgot about. I wrote it for a different fandom, and then thought "Organization XIII would be funny for this..." Org. XIII is turned into children and now the Reader has to (make sure they don't die) take care of them. Ages like... 4-9 because that's when children are the funniest. Do what you will with it
ngl im a sucker for old cliche prompts like these, every fandom has at least an au for this specific setting or some kindergarden au lolol
anyway here’s some HCs as to how they’d act and stuff !
Xemnas :
One of the oldest kids, but you don’t really know what to make of him. You were expecting Xemnas to still lead the rest, scare them into submission with a simple glare or something - turns out he’s rather timid. Barely speaks, you get the feeling he’s ignoring you on purpose, just makes a lot of faces and noises to indicate what he’s feeling.
Somewhat clingy too, but unlike Demyx and Xigbar who want to get your attention through any means possible, Xemnas just grabs onto the hem of your shirt and follows you everywhere in silence. Doesn’t cause much trouble, but he doesn’t help you keep the others in check either, a true neutral I guess.
Sometimes, he will just disappear and show up whenever you least expect him. Loves to climb and sit on tall places. Spaces out a lot. Compared to the rest, you can probably leave him to his own devices, as long as he’s not left alone with Xigbar or Larxene.
Xigbar :
Actually the oldest, but pretty annoying and high maintenance. If he got on your nerves as his regular self, then you’re in for a fucking ride - this Xigbar is here to cause problems on purpose. He likes to talk, a lot. And it’s sucks because it’s usually endless and mindless chatter or pointing out everything that he sees.
If he starts to get bored, he’ll scurry off to bother someone else, but it usually ends with someone crying or hurt. Don’t even bother keeping him on a leash, the bastard is too smart to be contained.
Xigbar is one of those kids that can be extremely useful if you get him on your side, as he has no problem snitching and ratting out the others. The best way to keep him from losing his other eye or gouging out someone else’s is to bribe or trick him into helping you (just know that he can also be bribed by the other kids, Xigbar WILL betray you).
Xaldin :
You expected Zexion to be the loner type, but turns out it’s Xaldin - he’ll always be on his own or avoiding the others, usually around the kitchen since you’ve banned everyone from going in there until they return to normal (not that they listen to you, but oh well).
Xaldin is pretty much like those kids who hate being treated like kids and who pretend to be above the rest. While he might seem calm, it’s really easy to get him riled up, a simple “I bet you can’t do this or that” and he’s off to prove himself.
Oddly enough, he gets jealous easily - if you give Roxas a cookie or whatever for behaving, then you GOTTA give Xaldin one too or else he’ll throw a fit. The best thing you can do with him is be honest and confess that you need him to chill the fuck out and Not Die :tm: while you take care of the others, he’ll feel all grown up because you told him the truth and will calmly stay in his room.
Vexen :
One of the oldest kids, the stereotypical kid who only has ONE interest and won’t shut the fuck up about it, which is cute but not everyone has the patience to sit through a 6 hour talk about dinosaurs. You never expected this baby Vexen to be so into dinosaurs out of all things. Of course, just because he only talks about them, doesn’t mean he’s not curious about all that shiny lab equipment.
You can’t keep him distracted with dinosaur books all day, he still has the heart and mind of a scientist ! Because he’s a very obvious nerd, he’s the target for a lot of members in the organization, namely Larxene - and when Vexen gets flustered or frustrated, he freezes up. Literally. He WILL freeze the entire room too.
Your best bet is to pair him up with Zexion or Xion, since they’ll gladly sit down to listen and learn. The three will gladly stay locked up in the library learning and reading. You just gotta hope Vexen doesn’t instantly crush Zexion and Xion’s dreams by ruining their fairytales with facts and logic.
Lexaeus :
Also one of the older kids and the tallest too. This Lexaeus is just as stoic and intimidating as the original, but apparently he’s also very sensitive. Everytime he speaks to you it sounds like he might be about to cry. But he looks fine ? So you really don’t know what to do about him.
Either way, Lexaeus is also very helpful and responsible, so you can trust him to watch over the rowdy kids and keep them relatively safe, just try not to pair him with the suuuper loud ones.
Probably the type to take the blame and responsibility for any pranks gone wrong under his watch, even if you fully know there’s no way he’s responsible. Lexaeus is the epitome of “I just want everyone to get along”. Somehow, he’s very gentle with the others (as gentle as one can be when straight up dragging Xigbar out of the ventilation system) but he’ll break any toys and other items given to him.
Zexion :
Zexion is very very small, so you can probably understand the stress he’s going through, surrounded by these animals. Like Xemnas and Demyx, he’d be pretty clingy but he wouldn’t be able to follow you around or cling to you with all the others pushing and fighting around.
So you can either just carry him on your shoulders or leave him with Lexaeus or Vexen as mentioned before. If not, Zexion will wander and either fall asleep in the Grey Area or find the library on his own.
Not a problematic child, really. Zexion lacks the energy and the feralness to join any shenanigans - he's also smart enough to know that he’ll be better off listening to you and staying clear out of safety hazards. Though there’s always the chance of other members taking advantage of Zexion’s naive and curious nature.
Saix :
You were expecting him to be a tiny version of his regular self, bitter and strict. Surprisingly, he’s way more fun as a kid, glued to Axel by the hip too. They’re the duo you should look out for - Axel is the one who gets them in trouble and Saix is the one who makes sure you never notice they were behind it all.
The one with a TERRIBLE temper right after waking up. Saix won’t hesitate to bite and claw anyone who tries to wake him up, even Axel knows better than to try. If it’s nap time, let him go, don’t even try to stop him. Don’t let anyone else near him.
Other than that ? A very nice kid in general, he feels a sense of responsibility when it comes to the younger members, so he’ll be the one to keep Axel in check whenever Zexion, Roxas or Xion are around. As for the older ones ? They’re on their own.
Axel :
Axel is the first one to say “fuck” and it spreads like wildfire. So if you start hearing a bunch of kids swear at the top of their lungs, you know who caused it. You’ll also know because you’ll find him laughing and wheezing on the ground.
Somewhat naive, if you tell him he can’t say “invertebrae” because it’s a swear world, he’ll believe you. But SURPRISINGLY he’s very aware of how dangerous his fire powers are - like, Axel wants to cause trouble on purpose, but he doesn’t really want anything to escalate and get anyone actually hurt. Unless it’s Vexen. If it’s Vexen, then it’s fine by him.
You might hear “Y/N, LOOK” before seeing Axel in the kitchen casting fucking Firaga on a bag of Totinos or something. He and Demyx somehow keep getting targeted by the Dusks, who love to play pranks on them.
Demyx :
Most likely to eat food off the ground, or anything shiny and colorful, really. He has the exact same vibes as the little brother who likes to follow people he thinks are cool to try and impress them, just to be considered a cool kid too.
Demyx is very clingy but also a sneaky kid, he can easily cry his heart out so you’ll pay attention and protect him from people he’s pissed off. This is literally why most of the kids don’t like to be around him, cause he’s THAT kid who will ruin everyone’s funs by calling the responsible adult if he gets upset.
Instead of being musically inclined, Demyx just makes a lot of noise - constant loud humming, blowing raspberries, stomping his feet or tapping/hitting things, repeating funny noises or phrases he picks up. Probably has an old ass iPod or an MP3 you can distract him with.
Luxord :
DO YOU KNOW THOSE LITTLE KIDS WHO ARE SMARTASSES ? The ones who act like they know the mysteries of the world and give you a look of superiority because you clearly don’t know what tubby custard really is ? Yeah, that’s Luxord.
Full of fun facts that he LOVES to brag about, but most of them are fake and he’s none the wiser. You cannot correct him either because it’ll be like telling an 8 year old that Santa isn’t real. Thankfully, you don’t HAVE to correct him because that’s what Xaldin is for.
Most likely to steal Xigbar’s eyepatch for himself and somehow convince everyone else that it was HIS eyepatch in the first place. How ? We don’t know, we just don’t know. Also Luxord might just steal little trinkets from everyone and stash them under his bed like the little creacher he is. If you can’t find your keys, you know who’s got em.
Marluxia :
A natural big brother figure. Very understanding too, even if you’ve heard from Larxene that he’s tired of everyone pulling his hair and that he might shave it all off just so they all stop. Yeah, there’s some lingering resentment in there. He’s 50/50 on being a little bastard and an angel.
Marluxia volunteers to help you take care of the other kids, mostly because he likes bossing others around and because he also likes reading books to Zexion and Xion so they fall asleep.
LOVES to leave trails of petals and flowers wherever he goes, but REFUSES to clean up. Always seen with Larxene - Marluxia is also lowkey competitive so he sees the Axel + Saix duo as rivals. In what, exactly ? Who knows. VERY picky with food too. Actually, just very picky and petty in general.
Larxene :
The one kid who develops a personal vendetta against you from day 1. Larxene DESPISES being told what to do, so if you’re constantly telling her not to do this, to do that and whatever, she will make your life a living hell and do the opposite out of spite.
You didn’t hear this from me, but Larxene is GENUINELY upset that she keeps accidentally zapping people whenever she plays with them. It’s really hard for her to apologize too, so you’ll have to step in a lot to de-escalate the situation.
Larxene sticks forks in outlets JUST to scare others, since she cannot get hurt at all by electricity. She just seems to enjoy making others afraid.
Roxas :
One of the youngest, Roxas doesn’t KNOW what “using your indoor voice” means, he’s either DEAD quiet or SCREAMING about how he’d like to have ice cream as a treat, please and thank you. It’s really fucking funny to see honestly. Just make sure he doesn’t sneak up on you and scare you shitless.
The type who gets dragged into shenanigans rather than cause them - he’s a very neutral and calm kid otherwise. The worst thing he can do is just steal everyone’s dessert or something because of that intense sweet tooth he’s got.
A lot of the older kids LOVE trying to get him and Xion to laugh, because Roxas has this permanent poker face AND because they both have really funny snort giggle laughs.
Xion :
Also one of the youngest, very sweet, patient and polite ! Xion also tends to be very clingy, always needing to hold hands with someone whenever she walks around Castle Oblivion. No one has the heart to tell her no, either.
Can get VERY VERY irritating and angry when someone tries to make fun of her or Roxas. Like a little hurricane of puppies - Xion won’t stop pestering all the meanies until she’s received a proper apology. If she somehow ends up hurting someone, she’ll insist on making up too.
Xion also tends to copy people she likes, similar to Demyx. You might catch her imitating your movements or way of speaking, or even copying the Dusks’ movements - but just make sure she doesn’t see you, Xion will explode out of embarrassment.

Keys to the Kingdom Preview
Uh just realized I havent really been postin a lot of Keys previews around here lately so here’s my concentrated effort to try and fix that. Have some of Larxene being Peak Bitch and Queen of My Whole Ass Heart:
The woman offers Sora a broad, snide grin as she flashes a set of small knives between her fingers. “Whoops,” she says, an undeniably haughty air to her tone. “Guess I missed. I was actually aiming for that empty head of yours.”
“W-who are you?” Sora asks, though he’s not entirely sure he wants to find out based on his first impression of her.
“What?” the woman spits, seemingly offended. “Are you serious right now? Do you really not remember me after–Ohhhhh, that’s right.” She huffs, tucking a stray piece of her short golden hair behind her ear. “Marluxia mentioned you’ve gotten even stupider after what happened at the castle. And from what else I’ve been hearing, more submissive too.” She takes a step closer, walking past the anxious boy as she flicks him hard on the forehead, an action he can’t even retaliate against for the rank she so obviously holds over him. “How’s it feel to be part of the winning team, number thirteen?”
“I-I…. I’m proud to be a member of the Organization,” Sora answers, despite desperately not wanting to. He shakes this bout of forced control off as quick as he can as he fixes her with a distrustful glare, his tone shifting from false loyalty into earnest annoyance. “So, are you are gonna actually introduce yourself or not?”
“Ugh, fine,” the woman rolls her eyes, equally irritated. “The name’s Larxene. Don’t forget it this time.”
“I won’t…” Sora mumbles, unable to refuse a direct order from any of his fellow members. As much as he wants to ask how this wicked woman seems to apparently already know him, Larxene doesn’t give him the chance.
“Yeesh, and I thought you were a mess the last time I saw you,” she sneers, circling him and “inspecting” him all the while. “What’s the matter, Sora? Too dumb to figure out how to survive on your own? It’s not even that hard; all you gotta do is steal what you need, and the rest is easy.”
“I… I don’t steal,” Sora says quietly, his shameful sights trained on the ground. “Not anymore.”
“Oh, what, are you too ‘good’ for that?” Larxene mocks, ruffling his already messy hair. “Maybe you oughta stop acting like you’re so much better than everyone else. Because news flash, kiddo, you’re not. Not anymore. In fact, after what you just did to that poor, innocent friend of yours, I’d say you’re just about as bad as they come.”
“Don’t talk about him!” Sora suddenly snaps, unable to contain his rising frustration. Especially not after hearing anyone refer to Riku, to what he did to Riku, to how he hurt Riku, so cruelly and callously. Like it doesn’t even matter at all when it’s something that’s shattered every aspect of Sora’s life so thoroughly.
Larxene barely even flinches as several spikes shoot up out of the already snow-dusted ground around Sora. Instead, vicious anger permeates her wry, cunning smirk as she suddenly grabs the boy by the collar of his shirt, pulling him up and wiping the resistant scowl clean off his face. “Let’s get a few things straight, you little brat,” she hisses, her voice dangerously low as her golden eyes glare into his. “I don’t want to be here any more than you do. But since you’ve been doing so badly at the one job we gave you to do, the old man thinks someone needs to keep an eye on you to make sure you don’t mess up any more than you already have. And unfortunately for us both that someone is me. Thing is, I’m not a babysitter; I don’t do kids, especially not whiny, starving, stupid kids who won’t stop crying about how “sad” they are or how “bad” their life is. So if you know what’s good for you, then you’ll suck it up, shut up, and maybe if you’re lucky, this’ll all go smoothly for us both, k?”
Sora doesn’t answer, instead bitterly averting her gaze when she shoves him away from her. Larxene seems to take offense with his silence though, because out of nowhere, he fist suddenly slams into his stomach, all but sending him to the already snow-covered ground. “Are you deaf or something? I asked you a question,” she snarls, standing over him with a fierce scowl.
“I-I thought you wanted me to shut up,” Sora replies rather curtly between pained coughs. He does his best not to flinch when Larxene reels her fist back for another strike.
“Oh, so you’re still a smart aleck, huh?” she huffs crossly. “And here I thought you’d be too busy being depressed to mouth off. But you’ll learn real quick now that you’re one of us that absolutely no one cares about what you have to say.”
“I already figured that much…” Sora mutters tiredly. Because if there’s one thing his masters, his superiors, even his fellow members all have in common, it's a mutual hatred for him. So why would any of them ever want to listen to him, to care about how he thinks and feels? He doesn’t live for himself anymore, he hasn’t for a long time. He knows he should be used to that by now, should expect this kind of harsh treatment, and yet… some small, stubborn part of him still wants to resist it all the same.
“Now come on, you little mutant,” Larxene turns, already pressing onward through the steady snow. “We’ve got a Key to find. And for your sake, we better find it soon, or else you won’t like me very much.”
“Too late for that,” Sora deadpans before he can stop himself. “I already don’t.”
He can’t help but muster a small, triumphant grin in the seconds before Larxene whirls. She doesn’t strike him herself, surprisingly, but instead, bursts of golden lightning flash out from her fingertips. The electrifying bursts strike Sora squarely, sending a sharp jolt searing through his entire body. It hurts, yes, but the fact that he managed to get a rise out of her, that he managed to land a knick in her seemingly impenetrable pride, still satisfies him, even if it's only in some small, largely meaningless way.

Let's talk about the KHUX finale as a whole rather than just as the piece we only just got.
So we started off with with Lauriam and Ventus alone in Ventus' room, and Lauriam is conflicted about Ventus because they have no way of knowing whether or not Ventus destroyed Darkness or whether it retreated back within Ventus (I mean we know that this Darkness is Vanitas but they don't), in which case Lauriam seems to contemplate taking out Ventus, only Strelitzia reminds Lauriam that giving into his negative emotions is exactly what Darkness wants - which obviously spooks the hell out of Lauriam and he turns around to find that she's not there. Having had time to think about this, I'd say that what I believe happened to Strelitzia after she was struck down by Darkness was that her Heart took refuge within Lauriam's, much in the same way Kairi's and Ventus's Hearts did with Sora's Heart in KH and KHBBS respectively. You might recall that Sora even saw Kairi at one point while he Heart was still within her Heart.
What does this mean though, well I believe that Strelitzia will return thanks to the Data Luxu pulled of her in Data-Daybreak Town, which is what he sent to the future via the Ark. Think of it as similar to how Roxas and Namine were brought back in KHIII, once Lauriam releases Strelitzia's Heart, it can join with the Data-Strelitzia, which is likely vacant, as the Data versions of the Dandelions were all occupied by their own Hearts presumably when they became Unchained and crossed into Data-Daybreak Town.
Moving on, Elrena is brought into the story to reveal that her Chirithy had seen Luxu and Strelitzia, which leaves hope for the others about Strelitzia, but doesn't do much more than confuse them otherwise and get her to join the party as they make for the Ark. Seriously, Elrena was completely underused in KHUX. I still think it's odd how Lauriam and Elrena act entirely different from Marluxia and Larxene, and I think it is even more odd how Nomura specified tht Lauriam and Marluxia are different characters rather than telling the interviewer who had asked the question what we are meant to believe: that Lauriam is Marluxia's Somebody.
To be clear, I don't think that he's not, simply that 4 years go by between when he, Elrena, Ventus, and Skuld woke up in the future and KHBBS and then nearly another 10 years (presumably) before Marluxia is found by Xigbar and Xaldin and Larxene is found by Xaldin and Lexaeus. We have no idea what happens then, and both had completely lost their memories, making it even more hard to say. However, Lauriam was shown waking in Dwarf Woodlands, while Elrena woke in what I assume to be Enchanted Dominion, both of which were some of the first Worlds to be swallowed by the Darkness when Maleficent began her pursuit of Kingdom Hearts at the end of KHBBS, so maybe that's how they fell to Darkness?
After Luxu sends the True Dandelion forward via the Ark, I noticed that, while Darkness explains its intention, it mentions that it plans to 'accompany the chosen one into the future to lay claim to Worlds not yet created'. This is odd, because later it explains that there are five Darknesses still in Data-Daybreak Town, and since only four of them confront Ephemer, Skuld, and Player, then that all but confirms Lauriam's suspicions. What's more, is that it engages Luxu in battle and then is missing when Brain, Lauriam, Elrena, and Ventus arrive in Daybreak Town to utilize the real Ark.
Where did Darkness go? Not within Ventus, as it would have had no opportunity to do so, and there's already an iteration of Darkness in there. Luxu is the only other candidate. It was revealed in the second part of the finale that the Master raised his apprentices in order to give the seven strongest iterations of Darkness a tangible form so that it could inevitably be struck down. This was the entire reason for the Keyblade War, and why the Foretellers had to be sacrificed. The conversation with Luxu all but confirms that those seven of the original Thirteen Darknesses were already destroyed, as they discuss how, after the Keyblade War, only the six Darkness we've now seen remained and found themselves within Data-Daybreak Town. The Master reveals this to be another part of his scheme, as Daybreak Town and its Data counterpart were constructed to act as a cage for Darkness that would be sprung as soon as the first pod of the Ark it utilized.
This trap is something Darkness knew after watching the Master compose the Book of Prophecies, the Master intentionally excluded Enchanted Dominion from the Worlds realized in the real world, instead trapping Maleficent within the Datascape much in the same way that he had done to Darkness. Darkness then helped Maleficent reach Daybreak Town via the virtual Ark in order to then have her use the real one, thereby triggering the ends of both iterations of Daybreak Town, which would motivate the Dandelions to use the Ark themselves, unknowingly providing Ventus to Darkness after another iteration utilized him to take the place of Strelitzia. While it would travel into the future to lay siege to Worlds not yet in existence, the other Darknesses in the Datascape would spread across the Data-Worlds. However, Darkness didn't concern itself with the parts of the Book of Prophecies which it considered unimportant to itself, which ultimately proved to be its undoing, because it missed out on the true plans of the Master, as Luxu later confirmed.
On the topic of Luxu, let's discuss his meeting with Brain, as well as his appearance in the Keyblade Graveyard. The most important part about these two parts is to know that, even though it appears as though Luxu possessed Brain, he didn't. Brain has just always resembled Luxu for whatever reason. I wonder if this could have something to do with iterations of the same person from two separate Worldlines? Why do I say this, because they made a point of noting the similarities between Skuld and Ava as well, on two separate occasions, and I would guess that with what we've seen in the finale, that it was intentional for this exact reason. Does this mean that all the Foretellers look like the Union leaders? I'd say no, I mean Ventus and Gula appear to bear physical similarities from what we can see (height give-or-take, jaw structure), but for sure Ephemer and Lauriam do not resemble Ira and Aced.
The two seen in the finale are clearly different because Luxu was stated in his Secret Reports of KHIII to have passed on No Name to on of the Union Leaders amid the chaos of the destruction of Data-Daybreak Town. The only one he came into contact with was Brain, so clearly Brain got No Name, thus its a done-deal, both are Brain, right? Wrong - as Brain then awakens generations later in Scala ad Caelum, not by using the Ark but by using Ephemer's memories passed down through the generations all the way to Sigurd, as his Waypoint, while his hat acted as the Medium. I believe that when Luxu claimed that Brain's life had to end, he merely passed on No Name to Brain and taught him how to unlock his Heart - or become Unchained, thereby allowing him to partake in said time travel and see through the destruction of Daybreak Town. I think what we see of "Brain" in the Keyblade Graveyard is like the scene from KHX:BC where Luxu arrives in the Keyblade Graveyard with No Name and the Box, just with his hood down, otherwise it wouldn't make sense for Luxu to have No Name, as he said he didn't have it anymore in the Secret Report.
I wonder if, given Master's Defender belonged to Brain originally and eventually makes its way to Eraqus - Brain's suspected grandson - if that means that Brain recclaims Master's Defender when he gets to Scala ad Caelum? I really felt for Ephemer toward the end because it became evident that when Ephemer and Skuld attempted to escape, Ephemer was caught in the destruction of Daybreak Town and left alone in the past. Although he created Scala ad Caelum from the ruins of Daybreak Town and began a new lineage of Keyblade wielders, it's sad that he died without the friends he had come to know throughout KHUX. I wonder also what Ephemer did with that last copy of the Book of Prophecies that Brain gave him - could it still be hidden somewhere in Scala ad Caelum?
In the end, Player had to fight Ephemer and Skuld in order to convince the 4 iterations of Darkness left in Data-Daybreak Town that he was on their side, as they did not seem to realize that their comrade had left with Ventus. This led to Ephemer sending Player and the Darknesses to Game Central Station, wherein Player trapped them and Data-Daybreak Town came crumbling down, just as the Master intended. This resulted in all the Dandelions falling into a deep Sleep, with their Chirithy's becoming the Dream Eaters we know today in order to protect them - only Player chooses not to Sleep and his Heart becomes a part of Xehanort's when he is born.
What's interesting to me about this is that we see Xehanort's mother, who looks sort of like Skuld, but I theorize is actually Brain's mother, which would thus make Xehanort the brother of Eraqus, but what I want to know is who that cloaked figure could be? Maybe it's Brain, who somehow knew about Player's Heart and took Xehanort away from Scala ad Caelum because Player's attack on Ephemer and Skuld (which I assume Ephemer would leave some note about for Brain, considering that Sigurd makes it sound as though they knew Ephemer was coming). I'm really not sure, but considering that Eraqus' grandfather isn't around anymore, that means he'd have had to have disappeared when Eraqus was young, and if it was because he was off with Xehanort, that could certainly explain it, but who knows.
Anyway I think that's everything I have to say about the finale (I hope it is at least lol) Let me know your thoughts below :) KHUXDR still has to finish later this year, so maybe these questions I have won't go unanswered for long.

marluxia, demyx, luxord, and zexion with a male s/o? tyvm!
OOOOOOOH these are very good choices, anon! some of my absolute fav boys here
Marluxia
- Marluxia paints his S/O’s nails different colours basically every other day, and often tries to incorporate some kind of floral design. He’s getting a lot better at not having such shaky hands when Marluxia paints them, if only to avoid Marluxia’s tutting every time he flinches.
- When they first got together, Marluxia was absolutely horrified by the existence of the 6-in-1 in his S/O’s bathroom. He made it his personal mission that day to kit his new boyfriend’s bathroom out with expensive things that didn’t smell like dish soap; and his S/O is secretly very happy to use all this fancy stuff.
- Marluxia definitely encourages him to use pet names whenever possible, especially my love. Marluxia is a huge romantic at heart and likes everyone in the room to know exactly who is boyfriend is and how much they adore each other - he likes to make a show of how lucky he is, and all his S/O can do is put up with it because, well, he’s incredibly lucky too.
Demyx
- Demyx brings his S/O to Organisation poker nights with Xigbar, Xaldin, Luxord and Lexaeus, even though he’s only just recently been invited himself (in exchange for not telling Saïx that there’s gambling going on in the castle). Much to Demyx’s dismay, his S/O’s actually pretty good at card games… and gets his own invites now!
- (NSFW-ish) Demyx writes a lot of songs about his S/O, but it takes a lot of begging for him to write one without mentioning his dick. Yes, Demyx, it’s a very easy word to rhyme with, but the romance gets sapped out of the situation pretty quickly when they can hear Axel laughing from the other room.
- Demyx uses his S/O as an excuse for everything that goes wrong in terms of his responsibilities. If he didn’t fill out a report correctly or if sentry duty just happened to be forgotten about, he’d tell the superiors that his S/O was either sick, sad, or in danger. It’s a lie every time, of course.
Luxord
- Luxord loves taking his S/O on trips to Port Royal for bar crawls which often end in the two of them walking along the shoreline as Luxord points out all of the ships he can name by memory and which one he’d commander if he had the chance. The two of them attempted it once or twice, but were always chased away by the pirates.
- Luxord very rarely loses a game of cards, but he often (very obviously) throws a game for his S/O. Usually they play not-so-serious games with ridiculous forfeits, which Luxord absolutely doesn’t mind doing for the hilarity of it all. This is exclusive to his S/O - he’d never throw a game for anyone else.
- He really enjoys quiet time with his S/O, either reading next to him or just silently watching the world go by from the window. These quiet times remind his S/O just how deeply Luxord considers everything that’s going on, but when he’s so lost in thought he’s at his most beautiful.
Zexion
- Zexion is absolutely the type of boyfriend to make his S/O carry stacks upon stacks of books around for him in the library, slowly piling up as the two walk through the shelves to the point where his S/O can hardly see where he’s going anymore. Of course, Zexion is going to read every single one of those books - but it’s also very amusing to see his S/O try and be so chivalrous.
- He definitely hides behind his S/O in situations where he’d rather just melt into the floor - such as, for example, when there’s a lot of people in the room who need answers from him about some recent experiment or the other. Having a human shield is pretty perfect for Zexion’s need to shut the world out sometimes…
- Zexion lets his S/O push his hair behind his ear so that he can see his whole face, albeit not very often. It’s very special when Zexion looks at his S/O with his full face forward, as he’s so used to hiding behind what’s essentially a mask for the majority of his life. He’s considering buying a hair clip, since his S/O says it’s so nice to see all of him…

S/O with a knack for massages
I literally almost went into massage therapy in college before I changed plans. I’m good at giving massages - don’t really like getting them. Is anyone else like that or is it just me? idk
I excluded Roxas and Xion from this post.
-
Xemnas - definitely takes advantage of it whenever he can. He has a lot of aches and pains that are mostly due to stress, and a continuous knot in the middle of his back that never quite goes away. He really isn’t the only one who’s having this kind of stress, either. He clamps back his jealousy and suggest that you become the massage therapist of some of the other org members, whenever they happen to need it. You’re too damn good at massaging to let your talents go to waste with just him. (Except Xigbar. Xigbar is banned.)
Xigbar - Massages are almost always a pre-curser to sex for him, but then one day he asked you to massage a crick in his neck and he just melted into a puddle of goo with your magic hands. If you really want to get something from Xigbar, give him a massage. He loses his brain to mouth filter and will say/admit to almost anything.
Xaldin - Xaldin just mentions something in passing about how his shoulders are sore from a big workout, and you just shrug and dig your fingers into his skin. He ends up letting his head fall back against your shoulder as you knead into his skin. He’ll be even more generous than you are in the end, and you can guarantee that he will be eternally grateful.
Vexen - Logically, he knows that massaging has wonderful medical benefits - how it can reduce tension, increase circulation, manage pain, reduce anxiety, etc., but like... where the hell is he going to find the time? Yeah, he appreciates the offer and he’d take you up on it, but he never wants to stop working. You’ll literally have to use one of the lab tables and all but strap him down to get him to relax, and he’ll be tense for a while and complaining until the aches really start to lessen. He’ll thank you later, albeit begrudgingly.
Lexaeus - Lexaeus honestly can’t even enjoy your massages even though they’re amazing and relaxing. It isn’t that he’s ungrateful or hesitant about letting you put your hands on his body. No, it’s because every time, without fail, he ALWAYS ends up falling asleep. He just gets so relaxed and his eyes fall shut and the feeling of your hands on his shoulders and around his spine makes him go immediately into dreamland.
Zexion - the idea of someone massaging him and putting their hands on his body makes him nervous. He’ll squirm and grumble and it’s fine, considering that it’s you and not some stranger, but still. All he has to do is... lay there? And let you rub your hands all over him? It makes him blush and he just doesn’t feel super comfortable, so you might want to ease him into it gently.
Saix - Not scared of asking for what he wants, but he won’t do so often because he doesn’t want to inconvenience you. He can’t deny that you literally have magical hands that can work out any stress, and he loves it when you take time out of your day to help him sort out the aches and pains. He usually prefers to have a massage right before bed so he can simply drift off, and to be honest, it makes him much more agreeable and less likely to kick at night.
Axel - Axel never wants to outright ask you for a massage because he doesn’t want to bother you or overstep any boundaries, but he’ll complain about aching muscles until you just break down and offer. “Axel, do you want a massage?” “Oh thank god, I thought I would have to keep complaining.” He’s always super thankful though and he keeps up a good conversation through the whole thing where others can’t string two words together, so that has to count for something.
Demyx - oh man he wants to take you up on your offer so badly but just be careful with him. He’ll enjoy the massage, obviously, but his skin is sensitive and he bruises easily, so you’ll have to be gentle. No deep tissue massages, just helping him ease into the harder stuff.
Luxord - Man you barely even get the words out and Luxord is already stripping. Luxord LOVES getting massages, not even in a sexual way. He just knows that they work and yeah, he’s got a lot of stress in his life so why the hell not? Get some massage oil and get to work because this man is ready.
Marluxia - Marluxia complains about an aching shoulder one day and you hesitantly suggest that he lets you rub the muscles to see if it will help, and he agrees. He’s so glad that he has you once he realizes how talented you are with your hands. If he offers to do the same for you, definitely take him up on the favor. He’s pretty talented, too.
Larxene - Larxene gives as good as she gets and she’s almost as good as you. There’s something called Electrical Muscle Stimulation that makes your muscles contract and relax when you get a small shock, and Larxene has mastered it. A gentle spark on your lower back can get out knots that will stay away for weeks, and she’s always willing to help you if you’re willing to help her with your own skills.

Sora Is the Master of Masters All Evidence
Part 1:
Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Backcover is the first instance that we meet the Master of Masters ourselves without anyone else’s perspective of events and see him as an individual character. From the get-go, the Master of Masters (or MoM as I will be addressing him throughout this theory for simplicity sake) is immediately addressed with heavy respect from his title alone. But, Chirithy also makes sure to mention his “mischievous” nature that we see a lot of throughout all of his appearances from here on. Due to the Master of Masters only being included and planned from Backcover onwards, it definitely seems more than coincidental that all of his similarities to Sora take place in the games technically made after Backcover which I will discuss; Backcover itself, KHX and KHUX, 0.2, KH3 and ReMind.
Both Sora and MoM are introduced as joker, light-hearted characters who use humour to lighten dark situations and comfort people. They hold themselves lightly and make fun of themselves to make others laugh or to lighten the dark of a situation. Sora did this when he comforted Riku by pulling a funny face (“how am I going to face everyone?!”/“like this?”) in KH2 while MoM pretended to question if Invi cared about him when she was overthinking things and getting worried about the events to come (“do you… want me to go?!”)
Tumblr media
Both characters share several of the same gestures and body movements, with Sora copying a lot of MoM’s gestures especially in KH3 and ReMind. Both hold their arms behind their heads, tilt their heads or even bodies sideways playfully and poke things to name a few shows off their playful, animated gestures. Both use their right hands when using the Keyblade with Sora holding his in his right hand and MoM summons No Name with his right hand to give it to Luxu.
Along with these personality and movement similarities, we also have the infamous Gazing Eye' glitch found in KH ReMind that 'definitely calls this theory into question. Why does a glitch like this only happen with Young Xehanort, whom we know MoM interacted and met with? Why does it only happen when Young Xehanort uses his time alteration powers if this was simply a glitch in the texture of Sora and the Gazing Eye's eye? Would that not mean that this could be triggered at any other time? And why is it so cleanly done if not to be intentional? This 'glitch' appears perfectly on Sora's eye and doesn't affect any other texture on Sora. If Sora was in fact MoM, would it not make sense for his possibly clairvoyant/prediction abilities to be affected by Young Xehanort affecting time? This would be too difficult go be a simple visual glitch or error of the engine given how the texture of the Gazing Eye appears in both of Sora's eyes perfectly, as well as appearing bloodshot since there would be no reason for Sora's eyes to use the bloodshot texture AND the Gazing eye texture together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Speaking of Sora’s eyes, this also brings me back to the pre-KH3 release conspiracy theory about Sora’s eye colour changing to green throughout the trailers which people passed off as being the reflections of the environment. This happened several times throughout the game and seemingly meant nothing, but when you consider who Sora was interacting his eye colour changed, him possibly being the MoM explains this. The first time we see this is in Mount Olympus, when Sora meets with Xigbar for the first time since DDD and we see Sora’s eyes have strong green tint compared to Hercules, who also has bright blue eyes that don’t seem to be affected by the lighting. Maybe only the KH original models are affected for some reason? Xigbar’s eyes are also not affected, while yellow, which would definitely show given how intense Sora’s are. Xigbar, is Luxu, so one could assume that anyone connected to MoM would make Sora’s eyes react, yes? Again, we see Sora’s eye go green with others as well. In Kingdom Of Corona, Sora’s eyes are once again green and while it it way greener here than Olympus, Marluxia’s—or Lauriam, who MoM choose as a Dandelion leader and survivor of the war—eyes once again are not affected, nor are any other characters’ like Rapunzel, Flynn, or Mother Gothel. Only Sora. We see this again with Ven when Vanitas is going to kill Aqua in the land of Departure and Sora wakes Ventus up from inside him, Sora’s eyes go green while no one else’s, including Ven and Aqua both of whom have blue eyes, have their eyes affected. And the final past character that is directly tied to the MoM through the dandelions and Sora whose presence affects Sora’s eyes is Ephemer in the Keyblade Graveyard. Ephemer has no reason to come to Sora here, compared to Ventus who he knew in canon and had every reason to help but let die in the previous ending, given that they do not know one another beyond Ventus. And as the camera zooms into Sora, Sora’s eyes gain a slight green tint to his eyes before the centre of his eyes change to a light, greenish blue that is very similar to another Name’s Gazing eye and focuses on his eye not only here, but once Sora snaps back to reality and focuses on the reflection of all the dead keyblades helping them. Here, Sora’s eyes are green again the exact same way that his eyes were green interacting with Xigbar/Luxu and Marluxia/Lauriam, both of whom were tied to the MoM. The green tint and highlight of the colour around his iris is identical to that of the Gazing Eye in No Name, with the environments and how others reacting to them in each of these worlds showing that these events and only these affect solely Sora’s eyes, proving that this is not just a simple light reflection but something done intentionally to Sora’s eyes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Beyond physical and personality similarities, both Sora and MoM share another quality with only one other individual in the entirety of the KH cast; they are the only ones aside from Xehanort to have held and been the apparent wielder of the X-Blade. While we never see him with it, Nomura confirmed that MoM had had the X-Blade at one point and studied it to create the Keyblade that everyone in KHX used. He used the X-Blade as an example and managed to figure out, through studying it, how to extract the light/power from people’s hearts and shaped their Keyblades which he then trained the Foretellers with. As well as the X-Blade, MoM also had a sort of authority over Kingdom Hearts as well as Ira mentioned that he had given them Keyblades to protect Kingdom Hearts and Ava tried to warn Gula away from summoning Kingdom Hearts since MoM had said it was “forbidden”. Gula decided to try and summon Kingdom Hearts in order to force the MoM to return to set them straight, showing that he held a sense of cautious as well towards it and decided to not use it and lock it away instead. Given that the MoM’s word was seen as gospel, this was more than likely a serious warning and order. And what do we see by the end of Kingdom Hearts 3? Sora, earning the X-Blade and telling Xehanort that using it is wrong and that no one should use its power to change destiny, before closing it to keep the worlds safe. Both characters—with only Xehanort as the other wielder of the X-Blade and exception of this mindset—had this power and chose to not use it but instead locked it away from using it for their own gains.
Both of these characters also shared the same philosophy of destiny despite the power they hold; Sora, who has challenged and even changed his friends’ doomed fates claims that a true leader knows that destiny “beyond his control” and “accepts that”, something that makes no sense with how much he has changed his own destiny and the events written in the Book Of Prophecy. However, the Master of Masters shares these ideals and believes not in changing what is meant to happen, but rather in preparing for what happens after that in order to secure the best aftermath. Why would Sora believe in this given his past, if not to draw similarities between himself and MoM?
Tumblr media
The Book Of Prophecies, as depicted in Backcover, also shares connections to what we assume to be the timeline of events surrounding not the the events of Backcover and the Keyblade war, but rather the events of the entire game series timeline. We see MoM looking at the Book of Prophecies through the Cases of the different Foretellers and Luxu, as well as Ira later on in the movie which we can use to create a basic ‘timeline’ of events based on imagery depicted.
We see the MoM look through throughout Backcover, with the ‘Case of Gula’ showing what seems to be the earliest part of the book we see with an illustration of a darkside heartless and a keyblade which would either be the Kingdom Key or Kingdom Key D, placing the beginning of the book at the first Kingdom Hearts game. The reason I think this takes place during KH1 rather than 0.2 is the Sora’s crown emblem being on the page previous to a Darkside heartless, seeming to signify Sora and then his first battle against the darkness either on his Station of Awakening or Destiny Islands, as well as these pages appearing to be nearing the middle of the book which would make sense given that Sora only entered the canon timeline after the whole Fairytale Saga, BBS and 0.2 took place. Then, we see the next page with an image of a shadow heartless, both which Sora fights on Destiny Islands after getting the keyblade and then in Traverse Town where he learns about the darkness or could simply represent all heartless as the most recognisable heartless. The page after this shows another Keyblade which looks like the Kingdom Key again, while the next page is the infamous ‘traitor’ that the MoM rips out and gives to Gula and the page after holding another illustration of Sora’s crown emblem. Given the pacing of events based on the concept of this book depicting the events of Sora’s experiences in KH1, the page detailing the ‘traitor’ may in fact be talking about Riku and his betrayal of Sora by accepting Maleficent's help. The MoM’s wording seems to support this, by telling Gula to “find the traitor hidden among you and stop them before it’s too late”, through Sora eventually learning of Riku’s fall to darkness and possession by Ansem before stopping Riku-Ansem and saving the worlds.
Tumblr media
This causes us to question exactly how would the MoM know of Sora's first adventure given that his eye, at this point, hasn't even seen Sora yet? The only logical answer? Because he lived it.
During the ‘Case of Aced’; when Aced, who acts a lot like Sora in KH1, is angry at Ira being chosen to be the new leader and was constantly in Ira's shadow, much like how Sora was undermined by Riku who was seen as the better of the two and originally chosen first by the keyblade. These corresponding at the same time suggests a connection to KH1, Sora, and Aced. Even their whole discussion over why Aced shouldn't be leader seems to, much like his discussion with Invi over keeping up "otherwise you'll be left behind, all alone" seems to cause an unconscious reaction from the MoM. "I know you want it, but that just isn't enough. Any chump can say, 'You! Here's a huge promotion. Good job!' and make you head honcho, but enthusiasm alone doesn't make a great leader." The way this is worded, especially with "great" and not just "good" suggests he has a basis for it, similar to how Sora saw Riku as being better than him. His following line "Ira needs someone like you to give him a push in the right direction" is spoken with anger or bitterness, as if the MoM understood Aced's annoyance at being considered second and feeling similarly in the past, as if he had to act supportive and push someone who was considered better than him in the 'right direction' before. But, his "you need to support Ira'' line is spoken sternly, acting as though he knows from experience that someone like Ira would need the more emotional support of someone like Aced, who uses his heart to decide things rather than "always just thinking and thinking and thinking behind that Unicorn mask of his" as Ira does. Everything said in this scene definitely parallels Sora and his emotions in the first KH game up until Sora decided that his friends were his power and that he didn’t need the keyblade to be strong, something that the MoM understands and acts sympathetic towards Aced about while trying to push him towards the same idea; "you might not be entirely happy with your role, but just know that it's the most important one." There is also a sense of symbolism in this scene with the MoM using his hand to cover the Kingdom Key when telling Aced that he will be Ira’s right hand man, possibly paralleling back to Sora’s own sense of being overshadowed by Riku.
Other connections these two share include the emphasis of their bond with Dream eaters and the Wreck-It Ralph summon from KH3. Both of these two characters show a stronger connection to Dream Eaters than any other characters, with MoM being the ‘creator’ of the Chirithy dream eaters which hold a deep connection to their owners’ hearts and are affected by their owners’ state given that these dreams eaters, like when Sora fell into darkness, fall into darkness with their masters and become nightmares. And what is Sora’s nightmare in DDD? A figure in a dark coat with purple and pink colours and a dark dream eater symbol on their back, much like the MoM and his black coat and the Chirithy nightmare we see in Backcover and KHUX.
