Yagi Yusei x ViVi
What kind of Yagi Yusei do you want to become in 2024? I think I definitely want to change my image! Right now I’m really happy to hear people call me pretty and beautiful, but on the other hand when I hear people that go to concerts and see me in person say "He's like AI", or "Does he really exist?!" it feels like my existence is very far away from the fans. But really I'm a warm-hearted person that is lacking in many areas. Nobody is perfect* (laugh). Next year, I want to show off my real self so I can appear more approachable. I also want to meet fans from all over the world, as well as in Japan. Please stay tuned because I will show you a new Yagi Yusei! *tn: Yusei uses the expression 天は二物を与えず meaning “Heaven doesn’t give two gifts” / “God doesn't give with both hands”

have been putting together Iliaster Pokemon Teams off and on fooooor the last couple months or so... I always like to put way too much thought into teams so under the cut I have all my reasonings for these choices. I like Pokemon and I like these characters a Perfectly Normal Amount <3
BRUNO/ANTINOMY:
Lucario: feels just very much like a good partner Pokemon for him...same shade of blue, very noble and loyal, EXTREME SPEED!! something something Lucario's innate aura reading and ability to sense emotions and thoughts vs. Bruno's complicated quest to figure out who he is. I think they would be friends!!! It gets amnesia too in whatever funny Pokemon AU Bruno's situation happens in
Skitty: obligatory Bruno kitty cat pokemon <3
Armarouge: T.G. Halberd Cannon/Blade Blaster type vibes, its pauldrons literally turn into a cannon, fire type echoing the sun in the Antinomy/Yusei duel, also a very loyal Pokemon. Plus bonus counterpart to Primo's Ceruledge >:3c
Rotom: silly little guy who likes motors and electronics and machinery!! Also Bruno having a ghost type and being. yknow. a robotic copy of a dead man. I think it suits him.
Yanmega: T.G. Recipro Dragonfly, it literally has eyes covered with a red visor, it's super fast and its design echoes a vehicle (aircraft rather than motorcycle, but still.)
Registeel/Regieleki: in Tag Force 6 Bruno uses and seems to really like Machina Fortress, so I wanted to give him a big 'ol bulky Steel Type. Antinomy gets Regieleki as a counterpart because it's literally The Fastest Pokemon, probably great for Delta Accel Synchro <3 Also Modern Age/electricity/android type invocations...
Porygon/Porygon2: Bruno needs a boxy little computer friend!! Antinomy gettin the evolved form since a big part of Porygon2's lore is that it was made for space travel...thinkin bout that duel again. The Porygon line, Porygon2 especially, also has a really similar color palette to Bruno's various forms!
Miraidon: ok ive seen people give Jack Miraidon and i get it, it's his color palette, BUT LIKE. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST BRUNO POKEMON EVER. literal robot motorcycle from the future who washes up on the beach with limited memories!!! it has a silly goofy friendly form and a badass powered up fighter form!!! it can be the perfect counterpart to Yusei having a Koraidon!!! LISTEN.
LESTER:
Skarmory: Meklord Emperor Skiel of course!!! Violent metal bird moment!!
Wingull: in the Tag Force games Lester really likes the Stuffed Seagull Plush item and I think that's just so cute
Zorua: Little red-haired mischief-maker that can create illusions and false appearances?? IT'S PERFECT FOR HIM.
Klang: From the episode when he infiltrated the twins' school, he used Gear Golem the Moving Fortress....gotta give him some gears.
Durant: Skiel Guard! Little weird metal bugaboo :]
Iron Bundle: challenging myself to give all the Iliaster members (aside from Z-one) Future Paradox Pokemon...Lester of course gets the Bird one. It even shoots a laser like Skiel does!!
PRIMO:
Bisharp: god his whole team is just Mean Blade Guys but like. Look at Him. That's Primo. the way Bisharp commands an army of Pawniard the way Primo commands the Diablo also relevant.
Ceruledge: This is kind of the Primo Pokemon of All Time For Me--haunted grudge-powered knight that "cuts its enemies to pieces without mercy" with sword arms infused with "the lingering resentment of a sword wielder who fell before accomplishing their goal"--like... COME ON. DUDE.
Mega Beedrill: gotta shout out the iconic bee commentary of course, and also it's Another Violent Pokemon With Sharp Dangerous Blade-like Arms.
Melmetal: MEKLORD EMPEROR WISEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Scizor: Metal-clad evolution of a blade-armed beast, also violent and merciless. And it does the thing where it uses its pincers to look like it has three heads--funny for one of Aporia's components~
Iron Valiant: ANOTHER PRIMO POKEMON OF ALL TIME FROM GEN 9. LIKE!!! White robot with a big dangerous sword, created by a mad science supposedly, "said to be cruel enough to take its brilliantly shining blade and cut down anyone confronting it without hesitation"... THEY CANT KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT
JAKOB:
Mega Aggron: Granel <3 Big fuckoff metal monster. I also thought it would be fun to try and give the Three Nobles each a pure Steel type Pokemon for the Robot Funsies.
Barraskewda: For Granel's bizarrely fish-like canons and components--Barraskewda also being based on a projectile weapon a bonus, too.
Skeledirge: GOTTA give one of the Nobles something that ties into their sub opera singer namesakes, plus Skeledirge's Spanish influence is perfect for Jakob/Jose. And its an aquatic-based animal like all of Granel's components, too :^)
Alolan Golem: For Jakob's big old beard and eyebrow, PLUS it's a grumpy stubborn beast that launches electric rock blasts. Just suits him imo.
Ursaring: gave myself the added challenge of giving The Three Nobles each an unevolved Pokemon that Aporia has the fully evolved form of.... Jakob gets Ursaring for their matching surly expression and eye(s) plus the Guts ability boosting Attack when inflicted with a status effect is perfect for the Gaining Power Through Suffering motif of these guys <3
Iron Hands: Freakishly powerful big bulky electric robot monster!!! Yellow color motif like Granel!!! probably one of the most Meklord-y Paradox Pokemon, to me.
PARADOX sidenote it's so fucked up he just doesnt have a tag force sprite. sad!
Origin Dialga: Since his whole deal in BBT is having a deck of stolen Legendary Iconic Dragon Cards, i GOTTA indulge and give Paradox a bunch of Legendary Dragon Pokemon!!! Origin Dialga is for the time travel and also it's just a bizarre creature that feels on par with Malefic Paradox and Truth Dragon tbh. Plus it was created by Arceus, and Pdox was created by Z-one <3
Zekrom: GEE PARADOX WHY DOES YOUR MOM LET YOU HAVE TWO UNOVA DRAGONS... he's got that whole black and white color motif with his mask/the Malefic dragon armor. And Zekrom's got an engine...like a motorcycle...
Reshiram: Beautiful long haired bishie of a dragon plus the aforementioned black and white motifs. Also the concept of wanting to make a true AND ideal new future is really fun and kind of Very at play with Paradox~
Espathra: A.) im a Psychic Duelist Paradox truther, I rly wanted to give him a Psychic type, B.) Espathra is a violent weirdo that literally has his hair color palette/style. In my mind's eye this was his partner Pokemon originally ....Paradox with a Flittle is so funny to me.
Roaring Moon: if anyone deserves an Ancient AND Future Paradox Pokemon it's... WELL. THIS GUY. Malefics are almost all Dark Dragons so give him the freakish vicious Dragon/Dark that's like a twisted version of an existing monster (much like how Malefics are twisted versions of existing cards ;])
Iron Treads: Successfully continuing to give all the Iliaster guys Future pdox 'mons...Iron Treads is a big robot tire effectively which works great for a guy who motorcycles through time!!!
SHERRY:
Lunala: For that freaky Soul Binding Gate skeleton door, also a Pokemon that is brought under Necrozma's (Z-one's) power. Sherry having Lunala and Aporia having Solgaleo also just makes me a little insane.
Florges: FRENCH. FLOWER LADY. EASY PICK.
Rapidash: For Horse of the Floral Knights/Sherry's horse shaped duel runner...i love that she's a horse girl 🥴
Teddiursa: For that TEDDY BEAR!!! And also, again, her having a Pokemon from the same line as Pokemon Aporia has is just a fun detail for me.
Tsareena: 100% female. Floral Knights/Chevalier le Fleur. Kicks and fights triumphantly.
Iron Leaves: in general Virizion is already a perfect Sherry 'mon (grass horse, based on French literature, etc.) and I imagine she originally had one before it somehow Became an Iron Leaves when she joined Iliaster :^)
APORIA:
Solgaleo: i mean. He Just Looks Exactly Like One!!!! Also Steel/Psychic is a really good type for this big miserable monster lion angel robot. Plus it can be controlled by Necrozma.
Kingambit: Evolved form of Primo's Bisharp, a powerful and intense leader that fights primarily with brute strength. It's also got an ability that boosts its power the more of its allies fall (die <3) Power through suffering!!!
Silvally: Synthetic chimera of mishmashed fused parts created in a lab :) Can only evolve and reach its true potential through friendship :))) also giving him Silvally and Z-one Arceus just to make myself a little sick in the head.
Klingklang: Evolved form of Lester's Klang, mechanical 'mon that echoes the Ark Cradle's Sun Gear(s) that Aporia protects
Ursaluna: Evolve form of Jakob's Ursaring, hulking powerful bear with big claws and a back sail that looks exactly like Aporia's big metal halo.
Iron Jugulis: MEKLORD ASTRO DRAGON TRISKELION!!!! also a hydra like Aporia's duel runner >:D
Z-ONE:
Necrozma: first of all it kind of looks like Z-one's freaky life support+huge claws contraption second of all something something Infinite Light vs. Necrozma being a light consuming monster third of all the way it can dominate and lord over Solgaleo and Lunala. pounds my fists on the pavement.
Celebi: HE'S THE BIG BAD HE GETS AS MANY LEGENDARIES AS HE WANTS and he needs Celebi of course. Time Angel :)
Omastar: Freaky ancient Pokemon that resembles the nautilus shape of Z-one's contraption...also there's something about fossils being kept alive in there somewhere I'm sure.
Mimikyu: this is like. perfect for him tbh HDHGSDFG Wears the guise of another Pokemon and pretends to be it (and I would definitely give Yusei a Pikachu,) reacts with violence and panic when pushed into a corner, Fairy type (like all the Timelords are), competitively can fill the niche of being Difficult and full of underhanded status effects and tactics and I think that's just lovely for Z-one <3 In my mind's eye I like to think this was his partner Pokemon from even before The Yusei Factkinning Event.
Bloodmoon Ursaluna: Well it's literally got the odd 'device' clamped over one of its (weird glowing) eyes and also. For Aporia <3 That's Aporia <33 Z-one's giant time-displaced apex predator with a big weird circle on its forehead <3333
Arceus: THAT'S GOD BABEYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I need to revise, so I played 5ds to work to, particularly my favourite episodes: Will The Real Jack Atlas Please Stand Up
And I noticed something and decided to analyse this little scene
Yusei's immediate response to Jack saying he won't have it is "So you're leaving". It's not even a question. It's a statement. He immediately expects Jack to leave. And here's the thing: Jack never said he was leaving up until Yusei said it.
The whole time Jack was saying that the others should be glad to have him, and that he wasn't gonna work their way. The conversation was "you need me, I don't need you", not "I don't need you, I'm leaving". Jack never said he was gonna leave. He didn't even put his helmet on until Yusei spoke. I think Jack didn't even think of going off until that point, because Yusei expected him to.
And why did Yusei expect him to leave? From what I remember, Yusei never argues with Jack. He disagrees but after season one he never really argues with him. Crow's the one doing the arguing the whole time. Why does Crow argue with Jack and not Yusei despite it being said that Yusei is Jack's rival and had been so since childhood?
Because the last time they argued Jack left them.
Jack left Yusei during an arguement. He was in the position to accept Lazar's offer, because he was angry and isolated. And he was angry and isolated because he and Yusei had an arguement which led to everyone siding with Yusei (even though it seemed Yusei didn't want them to take sides, considering how he said Rally was free to hang out with Jack if he wanted). Because they argued, Jack left.
And clearly Yusei hasn't forgotten. No part of the conversation had led up to Jack leaving the team. They were still on the who needs who stage. Jack hadn't even said "if I leave". Yusei was trying to calm him down and make him see reason. Jack refused to listen and Yusei immediately translated that into Jack is leaving.
Yusei geniunely believes Jack will leave him and the others again if he argues with him
Also look at the body language in this scene
Tumblr media
Jack's pissed, Yusei looks geniunely serious, Bruno is quiet. But Crow is smiling. Crow isn't taking this seriously at all. It makes sense for Bruno to remain serious and quiet, because he's watching a fight between siblings and he doesn't want to interfere. But the indication that this isn't really such a big deal is in Crow.
He's smiling. He's relaxed. He finds Jack's behaviour to be ridiculous, that this whole arguement is ridiculous. Jack is understandably annoyed because he's been called out here, but Yusei is the only one who is really taking this seriously.
And look at his reaction when Jack leaves
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He reaches out as if to stop him. Neither Crow nor Bruno even move. Yusei is the only one who reacts here because he's scared he's lost Jack again.
And look at Crow.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His eyes aren't in the same direction as Yusei's, who is fixed on Jack, so much so that he stays reaching for him for a long moment. Crow's eyes are on Yusei. And we can see how he's now looking serious and how focused his eyes are. Because he can recognise Yusei's fear.
And Crow's reaction isn't to insult Jack. He says "he hissy fits all the time, he'll come to his senses", but this isn't even him making a general statement. He's talking and directly addressing Yusei. Crow isn't bothered by Jack. He's calmed down. He's focused on Yusei. The casual attitude doesn't match the serious expression on his face just moments before. He put on the casual attitude to reassure Yusei, to make it seem less of a big deal. And Crow's Yusei's younger brother, not older. His role in the team isn't the reassuring mature one, and yet he took that role here. Usually when Crow is behaving maturely, it's because of Jack's immaturity and he acts mature to Jack. As far as I remember he doesn't take on the calming mature role with Yusei, and yet he did that here.
That's proof that Yusei is geniunely scared of Jack leaving despite covering it up. Instead of mocking Jack or complaining about it, Crow brushed it off to make the situation seem normal, to calm Yusei down.
tldr: Yusei is afraid Jack will leave if they have a fight even though Crow knows it won't happen

"I don't need help getting dates." Yusei could not believe that his brothers would insist on setting him up. "Least of all from my brothers of all people!"
Granted, he hadn't really been going out much as of late. Work left him exhausted, and most weekends he'd preferred to work on his bike when he wasn't playing video games. He didn't really have time to meet anyone, and his brothers were out to fix that. "Come on, Yoos, you have three kids," Crow pointed out. "I know that it's hard to move on, but..."
"Are you going to remind me of my dead husband now?" Yusei glared at Crow, daring him to finish his sentence. Crow and Jack both had the decency to look uncomfortable by the topic. Sure, it'd been almost five years since his husband had passed on, but he honestly had no interest in looking for a 'replacement' for the kids' father. "I'm fine. I don't need to be set up on a date with some random stranger that'll probably bolt when they learn about the kids."
"This girl is different," Jack said. "She's an adjunct professor and loves kids. Come on, Yusei. At least meet the girl. It'd be rude to stand her up."
Easy for Jack and Crow to say. Jack settled down with Carly right out of high school, following her to the same university despite having no interest in any career. Carly had soon whipped Jack into shape, and now he followed her around as her photographer for whatever story she was chasing down. Crow, meanwhile, met Sherry while volunteering at an orphanage. Meanwhile... Yusei didn't want to ruminate on his own past. "Is it really standing her up if I wasn't the one who set up the date?"
"She's also gotten out of a bad relationship," Crow said. "If you stand her up, she might never trust men again."
As much as Yusei wanted to say that wasn't his problem, he felt guilty about the idea of some girl sitting at the bar waiting for some guy who was never going to come. While he still had zero interest in treating her as a romantic interest, the gentlemanly thing to do was to at least provide her with some company. Which is how he wound up letting Crow and Sherry babysit the kids while he went down a bar that he wouldn't have gone to even in his twenties. It was dingy and dark, and it felt like he was stumbling his way through it. Until he wound up sat next to the woman his brothers had set him up with.
Aki Izayoi was wearing the red sweater as promised, and she filled it out rather nicely. Her hazel eyes glanced over him up and down, and she raised a brow. "You're Yusei Fudo," she asked, and her voice was husky. He suddenly felt the nerves settling deep into the pit of his stomach. "I'm Aki Izayoi."
She held out her hand for him to shake, and he took it. "Shaking hands on a first date," he remarked, a teasing grin forming on his face. "If this works out well...."
Her eyes met his, and there was a strange look that passed over his face. He worried that perhaps he blew it with his stupid joke. He almost expected her to get up and leave. Instead she smiled. "Perhaps I'll let you give me a kiss."
And he wasn't sure how it happened, but a few drinks later and a couple of hours later, they were inside the bar's unisex bathroom with the door locked and her pressed up against the wall. Her lips were so soft, so inviting that he couldn't help but seek salvation in them. His hands roamed over her body, memorizing as many details as she'd let him. He was pushing further and further with each touch, until she pushed him away. He was certain she was saying that she'd had enough until she pulled her sweater off, tossing it aside. His eyes went wide. "It's been a while," he said, nerves starting to get to him. "Is that okay?"
"Don't overthink," she said, yanking him to her with a searing kiss. "Just do me."
It was how he ended up kneeling in front of her, pressing kisses to her hips, worshiping at the alter of hips. A taste he'd never forget, with the sweetest whimpers elicited from her. She was soon entirely his control, and her eyes were half lidded, moon eyed over everything he'd managed to do to her so far. Soon his desire had become overwhelming, and he couldn't stop himself from helping himself to her.
When his brothers asked how the date went, he told them it went fine as he collapsed on the bed. As nice as tonight was, he was certain that all she'd been after was a one night stand to get her back on her feet. As much as he'd like to encounter her again, he was fine with this being the only date the two of them had.
Except four days later, he ran into her again at a coffee shop he'd entered on the off chance. She locked eyes with him, and her cheeks turned beet red. Neither of them had bothered calling the other, assuming that night in the bar would be the only encounter they would have with each other. He wasn't sure what he was supposed to do in this case. Did he go over and say hi? Did he let it go? She made the choice for him, walking over to him with a swing of her hips that he couldn't help but overtly stare at. "Never thought I'd meet you here," she said, her voice just as husky as before. "Can I buy you a drink?"
He allowed her to buy him a drink, figuring that if he came in by chance, then there must be a reason the universe had brought them back together. Or maybe it was just a strange coincidence. Either way, he was now sat a table with Aki across from him. She'd ordered herself a lavender decaff, claiming that she couldn't really drink caffeine but liked the taste. "Uh, I didn't get to mention this during our date but I have kids. Three of them."
"That's okay," she said as she took a long sip of her drink. "I didn't mention that I'm divorced on our first date."
"My brothers mentioned that you'd just gotten out of a bad relationship," he said, too busy taking in her entire face into memory. Just like the first time, he was entirely entranced by the fact that she was simply, undeniably gorgeous. No wonder she'd managed to convince him to take her to a bathroom of a dodgy bar - something he'd normally have never considered doing. If she wanted to, she could get him to take her back to his place and blow off work. "I'm... certain it's better off that you're divorced."
She stared past him. "I'm not interested in getting into the specifics of my divorce with a guy I hooked up with in the bar of a bathroom."
The statement was blunt and to the point. "Fair enough," he said with a light-hearted laugh. "I won't pry if you don't want to share."
"Let's keep it casual," she said, a brow arched at him as if she was issuing a challenge. Whatever the challenge was, he wasn't sure. "You think you can do that?"
"What are you suggesting here?"
"Let's go back to my place," she said, finishing her coffee off. "I've got a little extra energy and wanna burn it off with something fun."
With a wink, she lead Yusei away from the coffeeshop to her apartment. From there, the two of them spent a few extra hours burning off energy together. She kicked him out shortly after, stating she had no interest in cuddling. Once again, he left without her number and no way to call her again. He supposed that was for the best.
Except it wasn't the last time he saw her. He'd been staring at the list for what he needed to get for groceries when her cart rammed into his. She stared him down, and Yusei wanted to slink away and hide. How many times was he going to run into the same woman? "Are you stalking me?"
Yusei shook his head. "I should ask you that," he said. "I've been going to this grocery store for years."
Aki this time was dressed in a yellow checked skirt that hugged her hips and a black sweater. Her legs were covered with dark tights, and he wished she hadn't bothered with the tights. He remembered her smooth legs under the touch of his hands. She redirected his attention back to her with a sound of disbelief. "I've been going to this grocery store since I moved here," she said. "About six months ago."
"You only just moved into town?"
"Is that so odd," she asked, and now her cart was next to his. How did they keep ending up on dates like this? Except... this one felt far too intimate. Like they were actually proper dating. "Don't most people move around?"
"I've lived in Neo Domino City my whole life," Yusei replied. "I met my... the kids' father in high school."
"What happened to him?" She paused as he stared at her, astounded by the bold question. "I only assume something happened to him since you're going out on dates. Clearly something had have happened."
She didn't probe him on the gender, and it was a relief. If the dates hadn't bolted at the kids, some of them bolted because of his bisexuality. Aki at least was considerate to not ask. Still, he didn't feel comfortable explaining at length what had gone down with his ex. It was hard enough having to explain to the kids. Then again, his brothers were always pointing out it had been years and years ago. "Maybe if you stick around longer, you'll get to know," he said, and it wasn't something he would normally say.
Aki stared him down, as if weighing it as if it was a serious challenge. He wasn't sure how to feel about her curiosity being like a challenge to her, but in either case she didn't seem to backing down. Finally she smirked. "Guess I'll have to stick around to sate my curiosity, huh," she asked. "In that case, why don't we go out on another date this weekend?"
"You're only going out with me because you're curious?"
"Don't be ridiculous," she teased, winking at him. "I'm also going out with you for the fantastic sex. Pick me at eight on Friday. See you then."
She walked off before he could argue. Suddenly, Aki just became a lot more interesting.
Standing in front of a grave before a date wasn't Yusei's plan for the evening. Even Jack had told him it was a bad idea to visit the gravestone of his dead ex husband before a date. But he couldn't stop thinking about how he needed this closure before he moved on. He'd never bothered to try before. He took a deep breath, memorizing the details to heart. It'd been a cheap headstone - all they could afford at the time - and the name was already fading despite it only being ten years.
Rally had been the only one of the kids able to remember their father. Sometimes it seemed like his death had rattled Rally, and other times Rally was the same happy go lucky kid Yusei remembered. It'd been a rush marriage - only a year or two after high school. They'd barely settled in married life before Rally came along - a young three year old boy whose mother they'd been closed to. When his husband passed only a few years later, it made Yusei start to worry that Death itself surrounded him.
His own father's gravestone rested not even a meter away from his husband's. Behind him was Rally's mother, laid to rest around twelve years ago. These were not exactly cheery thoughts to be having before a date, but he wasn't certain he ever properly grieved anyone here. He always was expected to be so strong for the kids, for his friends, for his town in general. It weighed him down sometimes, feeling like he was carrying weight that he was applauded for merely holding. He wasn't certain how to let go of all these ghosts when they kept following him.
Worse, it was easy for him to see those around him as future ghosts instead of focusing on the now. The one thing he could say about when he was with Aki was that he never thought about any of this. She made it easier to focus on the now rather than bury himself in the past. And yet every single time they parted, reality would crash back in - violently, obtrusively, demanding his attention it'd lost while she took up his mind.
And reality was a graveyard - quiet, still, surrounded by the memories of those he'd once known. The world marched on without a single care to the souls laid to rest here. He checked his watch and realized that he needed to leave. Aki was waiting for him.
"I was beginning to worry you were going to stand me up," Aki said as he drove up.
The moonlight was shimmering, reflecting the glow of her skin. In this lighting, everything seemed to be in a black and white. And yet he was utterly obsessed with the view. "I would never stand up such a beautiful lady," Yusei said with a soft smile. "We have reservations."
She hesitated for a second, and at first he thought she might cancel. It would suck to have come all this way only to have it end. She slid into his car without further comment, ruffling her hair. "Let's go," she said, looking firmly ahead.
Aki was hardly forthcoming, She kept everything close to her chest, and as much as she was fascinated with Yusei, he was equally fascinated with her. He wanted to know what she kept from the world, what she was seeking, what made her happy, and what she wanted from her future. He was curious, and she was curious too. It didn't seem so bad to be so curious about each other, especially since they were now officially dating. On purpose, even.
Yusei didn't think that he would ever wind up in another relationship again. He never thought he'd be interested in someone new after his husband's death. And yet here he was - eager to see Aki again. And again. If he was honest with himself, he was grateful that he had run into her over and over and over again.
Winding up across the table from her on a date they'd arranged themselves instead of family or fate was a strange experience. And even in the moment, he couldn't wait to do it again.
He wanted to know Aki Izayoi.

New chapter! Whoo! Featuring a little bit of fluff and a whole lot of angst, because that's how I roll.
Yusei fairly collapsed into one corner of the sofa; two trips down the stairs plus a shower had sapped most of his energy, it seemed. He still needed to rest, but this was worlds better than staying in bed alone for another day. As he tucked his feet up onto the cushion, he noticed Aki staring at him from where she stood next to the kitchen counter. He couldn’t help but grin, one eyebrow rising, as he said, “What?” She jolted, a blush creeping up her cheeks. “Sorry. It’s just… I don’t think I’ve ever seen you wear anything but your riding suit or jeans.” Yusei glanced down at the sweats and t-shirt he sported now. Normally this was the kind of thing he slept in (when he actually changed for bed instead of crashing face-first into his pillow in whatever he had been wearing all day, anyway), so that made sense. “Yeah, I guess that’s true.” He shrugged, glancing back over to her and noting the very similar attire, and snorted. “I could say the same, though.” Aki glanced down, her face turning even redder. Crow quickly came to her rescue from where he was working on lunch. “Guess we all just wanted to be more comfortable.” “I guess.” She turned towards Crow. “Did you need help with anything else?”

Ask meme: Yusei.
yusei it is!
my fav thing about them: definitely his backstory. i love how we get a protagonist that’s already entangled in a net of complex relationships with different people, whom we get to encounter throughout the series and gradually get to know what was actually going on between them. i miss that a lot for protags such as jaden or yuma, all of whose interesting relations are established within the show and who seem to have little to no history of their own to explore and wonder about. besides, cheesy and run-off-the-mill as it may be, yusei’s talk about how every card is unique, precious and worth treasuring is really heartwarming and it’s great to see him putting all these strays to good use and properly appreciating them.
least favorite thing about them: actually, i find yusei to be quite boring personality-wise. i’m halfway through 5ds and he still hasn’t shown any more interesting characteristics. i get that it’s nice how caring and determined he is, but i’d like to see some flaws of his, some less ordinary and predictable reactions and/or developments. i feel like the great backstory is partially going to waste because he’s so standardly fixed as a character. also, maybe the following episodes will prove me wrong, but i see little room for development in him, which is kinda sad — or at least, he’s far inferior in this aspect than even the yuma or jaden i have already mentioned.
favorite line: not a single line, but i live for the two prison duels where he uses other people’s decks/cards to beat the shit out of the arrogant bullies that his opponents are. i remember i started this short arc being rather indifferent and left it so emotional about him it was actually funny.
brOTP: jack. i totally see them as exes, but either way their reconstructed friendship is a great thing to follow throughout the series. they have wildly different approaches to many things, but respect each other and get along anyway — their mutual backstory is very well-constructed and with a suitable pinch of bitterness where necessary.
OTP: akiza! i feel like i wrote that a hundred times already, but i’m dying to see more of the trust and care that has built up between them. yusei being a far healthier replacement of divine for aki is the best development ever, while it’s obvious he’s worthy of that assurance. the date episode was so precious too,,
nOTP: i used to like his ship with jack a lot, but now it just doesn’t appeal to me anymore, i guess? for once, their canon romantic relationships with akiza and carly are just far better. in terms of actual notp i’d put sherry because she’s a lesbian and i’m gonna die on that hill (also they make far cooler friends, c’mon).
random headcannon: yusei always has trouble building his decks because, no matter how responsible his duelists thinking is, he just wants to put every single card he has in there — it feels so wrong for him to leave anyone out. similarly, i feel like he’d love to exchange decks with others for a single game, even people he doesn’t really know: if his instinct finds someone trustworthy, he can borrow them his deck without fear. he’d really like to get to know new people this way and see how they use his cards too; exchanging decks with closer ones, like akiza or crow would be quite special too. he’d dislike using power decks though, like jack’s (or, hypothetically, stuff like ddds, blue eyes etc) — it’s not that he doubts using them requires as much skill, but he doesn’t find it nice to use such archetypes, that’s it. in a modern au, i’d totally see him enrolling in small tournaments all the time, testing the most obscure card sets imaginable and trying to make all of them as good as possible. by the same token, he’d avoid meta stuff in this au — not his cup of tea.
unpopular opinion: i guess what i said about his personality counts as rather unpopular? oh, and i just find it ultimately stupid that when he faces ghost and the meklords, who totally trash all synchro decks, he still thinks about using synchro without synchro summoning instead of just?? idk?? building a non-synchro deck?? i’m not saying he should switch to some fusion or whatever, but there are viable decks that don’t even rely on ed cards. why make shit so difficult for yourself and wonder why you’re still on the losing position. i get that it has to align with the plot, this being a synchro-themed part and all, but it’s just so stupid i can’t get over it — the creators should have never maneuvered themselves into a corner like that.
song i associate with them: cohen’s heart with no companion (this will always be a ryo bakura song in my head, but i’ve also thought it somehow fits yusei’s vibe, though in a very different way) and, contrastingly, probably born for this (the score). btw i’m an enjoyer of sappy romantic shit in context of his ship with akiza, so walking the wire (imagine dragons).
favorite picture: i like his regular design a lot so seeing him whenever is great, but a shout out to this edgy boy right here:

Note
Well dear wonderful author, I am currently stumped and I’m not sure I know how to get out. This might not make much sense, I’m sorry in advance.
I was sort of daydreaming and trying to picture what the 5Ds version of Ennead would look like. It helps me to avoid falling down the rabbit hole of other storyline based questions that aren’t questions as much as random thoughts that I should be patient for their reveal.
I ended up wondering just how much of the story would change because I always sort of assumed that the original characters from DM were dead and Judai/Jaden was in another dimension while the whole 5Ds thing went down. Because they probably would have made a big difference if they had been active.
After much thought I haven’t been able to picture a 60-80 year old Seto Kaiba just laying down and letting any part of Domino turn into a lawless junk heap that the 5Ds Satellite is shown to be in the show. That goes doubly so for your wonderful characterization of Seto when he is “teetering an a mental breakdown when what is his is threatened.” But that’s just my love for “Help Me” showing.
Maybe this is because in my experience, 80 year olds tend to have very few 🦆s to give and even at that age, are prone will do whatever they want. I just can’t picture your Sato Kaiba at 60 years old, his city literally torn apart, deciding that he is going to let the government or whatever the 🦆 “sector security” is supposed to be, turn the Domino bay into a Japanese Berlin Wall.
Tracking citizens through gold marks I could see him doing, but that’s for a different reason and he would probably be a lot more competent with the execution of said tracking than how it’s used in the show.
Actually he’d be a lot more competent in many different components of the series.
Especially with all the work he has put into getting a theme park up and running in like 6 months for Battle of the Gods and what I can only guess he did when his school and niece were sucked into another dimension. Compared to that, building a bridge to reconnect a portion of the city to the mainland is practically child’s play to the old man. He’d probably be upset that he had to actually leave his house to tall people what they are doing to resolve the new catastrophe.
To be honest it might be because I can pretty easily picture him with silver hair berating everyone at fault for the incident while waving a cane around and saying that they are some of the most stupid people he’s come across in a long while before firing them all.
And that’s not even getting into my thoughts about what Judai must be doing during this time in her 40s-60s. For some reason I can imagine her finding Akiza or Rua or both before the story even starts and helping them get a hold of their powers.
I also seem to be stuck with the idea that Yugi’s first life after her separation with Meisa happened during the whole signer/dark signer incident and she was supposed to take up one of the marks again. But that might just be because I remember you saying that she would have been reborn around the same time as Yusei and the others and recalling that the English dub used “nearly five-thousand years ago” to describe their timeline)
So, to conclude dear author, Goddess of this universe. How crazy do I sound for contemplating these thoughts when I know you had just started watching the subbed GX series a few weeks ago? I should be very aware that you have not done a deep dive into 5Ds but I still can’t stop thinking about it.
Thank you again for all of your hard work. Everything in Ennead, Miraculous, Help Me, and well everything is just amazing!!! I don’t know why I’m focusing on the 5Ds aspect of this. Especially when you have such well fleshed out stories already written.
I don't remember saying Yugi died by then, but there's been new plans:
Yugi is still alive by 5ds. She's the Guardian of Old Domino.
When Zero Reverse happens she and Meisa rejoined to unleash their divine magic and manage to save a portion of Domino and the people living on that area but get overwhelmed because even Gods could be killed in Egypt and end up asleep for a while.
Old Domino, the section of Domino they managed to protect, is untainted by the darkness from the blast because of her magic, but Yugi has to maintain it or it would get corrupted from either side by the darkness in the areas to either side. That takes a LOT of energy. Like it started corrupting while they were unconscious straight after the blast, but she managed to fix it and now has to maintain it to keep it safe. If she uses too much magic for something else, she loses ground on the safe zone So she has to focus on protecting Old Domino.
She's like 70 years old but she is still kickass enough to keep a section of Old Domino alive. The Dark Signers can't pass into her territory, but she can't leave either. She's tied to the land now. She does take in waifs and strays that need looking after and help them learn how to handle any magic they gain.
Her daughter, on the other hand, is a part-time Turbo-Duelist, part time psychic-trainer, psychic being the 'up to date' term for Shadow Touched Duelists.
This is all pre-5ds stuff though because I haven't seen the series. Beyond that, I'm not sure how else I'm going to progress. I'll work it out when I see more of 5ds.
I am trying to ignore the desire to put Mana Mutou, Suguru's daughter, in with Yusei and the others right now. XD

Some Scapeghost AU things:
- Yusei named all five of them. And each one has a unique personality despite none of them having a brain cell between them.
- The Red one is Ruu. Ruu likes headbutting things. And people. It doesn't hurt though, and he mostly does it to get one's attention. If Ruu is ignored for too long, he WILL become extra annoying with constant baaing.
- The Blue one is Bluu. Bluu is silly and does very silly things, such as making squeaky toy noises when smooshed. Likes hiding in Yusei's shirts and coat and will steal said coat if he's in a hiding mood.
- The Orange one is Sunny. Sunny is extremely hyper and doesn't seem to have a chill button or off switch. Fidgets constantly when having to stay in one spot and likes chasing Jack and Crow around for lulz. ("YUSEI GET YOUR OVERGROWN DEAD FURBALL AWAY FROM US!!" "Sunny just wants to play, he's not hurting anyone!")
- The Pink one is Mochi. Mochi likes hiding in places to playfully scare people, and she will always pick the one place one would never expect to find a Scapeghost in. The most outrageous place the group has found her so far was in a duel runner engine.
- The last one, the one that suspiciously looks like Yusei, is appropriately named Kurisei. Kurisei has -2 Brain Cells, loves milk and gets extremely pissed off if denied any, and likes carrying one of Yusei's tools around wherever he goes. Current tool he likes carrying around is a small wrench that he occasionally gnaws on.
- All five tend to be out at the same time. Never just one or two of them. And if it looks like one is by itself, it's not. The others are always nearby.
- Akiza thinks they're adorable too, and likes playing with them! Jack and Crow would call her just as crazy as Yusei for thinking the Scapeghosts are cute, but they fear her wrath.
- The twins can't really agree about their stances in them. Luna thinks they're kinda cute in a creepy way while Leo says they're outright creepy in a horror way. ("It looks cute, but what if it can turn into a hideous monster?!")
- Bruno gets dogpiled on by them frequently. He has no idea why, but Yusei finds it adorable so he just lets it happen. Though he wishes Ruu would stop trying to headbutt him: it hurts Ruu more than it does him. (Android body go brrr.)

[] “The Hillside” [] Yusei Fudo X Reader short drabble story
[] SHORT DRABBLE STORY []
||~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~||
"Y/N, Ready to go???" Asked Yusei Fudo, Your crush for about a year now. The man had dark blue hair with golden streaks in it, and pretty much always wore the same thing.
"Almost!! Just Gotta grab my bag!" You replied. Yusei Had promised that he would take you out around town if you had won a tiny little practice duel that you played that wasn't for Title's sake. And you had.
You grabbed your bag, it was nothing special, but you always carried it around everywhere. You walked over to Yusei. "Lets go!!! I got everything." You told him. He nodded, and opened the garage. You had your own Duel runner, one that Yusei and You had built together, but nevertheless, you loved riding with Yusei in his.
You got on, and then he did. He always sat in front, even though you knew how to drive and he knew that. He started the engines and 'WHOOSHED' Out of the garage. You held onto his waist, it was a habit of yours by now.
"WOOOOO!!!!" You exclaimed at how fast he was going. That earned you a chuckle from him. "If you Like it, we should do this more often." He stated calmly. You grinned at that "YESSIR!!!" you shouted.
It felt amazing, the wind was brushing against your hair, it was a feeling you loved especially when you turbo dueled.
------
He parked at a 'Free Parking' zone, and grabbed your hand. "Y/N. I said I'd take you somewhere and I am, so no questions until we get there, got it?" His expression didn't change but his voice got softer, it seemed impossible, considering how soft it already was.
Nevertheless, you nodded. "Sure." You stated.
------------------------[] TIMESKIP []-----------------------
Yusei had led you up an enormous hill, you were surprised your legs still worked.
"Don't... Tell me...  You led me... Up here... For... Exercise..." You spoke with pants in between your words.
He softly smiled at you, and proceeded to check his watch. "Perfect, just in time." He said, A hint of gratefulness filled his words. Your eyebrows transformed your face into a Confused expression.
"Just in time for what?" You questioned, obviously not knowing what in the world the young man was talking about. Suddenly, a big 'BOOM' Was heard.
    You looked around.
"What in the world-" You were cut off for another one, this one even louder than the last. You continued to look around but there was no one or "Nothing" there.
"Y/N." Yusei spoke even Softer. and he put his finger on your chin, and lifted it up. Your eyes widened.
    Fireworks.
Bright, colorful fireworks were blasting themselves across the sky in all kinds of different colors.
    "Y-Yusei... Are these-"
    "Fireworks."
"You remembered?" You asked, a hint of hope glistened in your question
"No, I just didn't forget." He replied.
How could he have remembered??? You told him so long ago that you had never seen fireworks before...   Your heart skipped beats, and your eyes were glistened with tears.
"H-hey Y/N??? Why are you-" He was cut off by a gigantic hug. "Thank you. Thank you so much, Yusei!!!" You beamed, looking at him.
He fell silent. and smiled. "Hey, Y/N??? Can I say something???"
    "Yeah?"
"I Love You." He stated with confidence. You were shocked, THE Yusei Fudo was in love with you? Unbelievable.
Nevertheless, you were bold. You wanted to make your feelings clear for him. "I do too, Yusei." You said. "I Do, and I want to be with you fo-"
You had cut him off before, now it was his turn. He cut you off with a peck on the lips, a soft one. [Almost as soft as his voice-] "Glad to hear it Y/N." He said.
Both of you sat down, and enjoyed the rest of the fireworks show. Hugging each other and content with each other's embrace. ||~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~||

Episode 6
Title: Look at My Treasured Deck!/ The Facility, Part 1
Summary (via Crunchyroll): After being sent to the Facility, Yusei befriends an odd old man who duels with a treasure deck full of ancient mystic cards.
Tumblr media
Or: Yusei receives two different sentences, Yanagi is in for two different reasons, and Godwin has two different sets of priorities.
....
Aaaaand we're back! After an unintended hiatus.
We don't pay for Wifi anymore and my network connection has been less than stellar making this difficult to get out, so apologies for the low-quality screencaps. I had a connection and I ran with it while it lasted, haha.
And then I got half of this done and got hit over the head with allergies/ sinus issues. Very fun. Anyway. Moving on.
....
So first up, I want to point out briefly two changes made to the animation. I've noted in past posts that the dub occasionally reuses segments in order to add more dialog, but here, there are two bits that were simply re-animated.
The first of the two is right at the start of the episode (Left: sub. Right: dub):
Tumblr media
Considering that Yusei has been arrested, I'm not really sure why they felt the need to change this. Like, yes, logically his hands should be restrained, and I have no idea why they thought it wasn't appropriate to show that. At any rate, they Did That so There It Is.
The second is later in the episode (Left: sub. Right: dub):
Tumblr media
I couldn't get this shot lined up perfectly because the dub actually just plain cut the shot. I suppose they didn't want it taken as anything other than platonic hero adoration so that's why they cut the hearts out but... still don't really think that was necessary. It Is What It Is.
....
I could rant and rave about what the dub did to the opening scene where Yusei is getting his mark, but I already did that on main, so I'll spare everyone in doing it again. The only thing I have to change from that is to say that actually the snarky comment is entirely on point for dub!Yusei. I still hate it, but it is in character (whereas I previously asserted that it wasn't, and technically it isn't when thinking about sub!Yusei but I digress).
An interesting change is that the judge is almost more sympathetic?? Like, there is zero sympathy in the sub. Zero. But before looking at the charges (in the dub), the judge actually says, "Look at him: he's just a boy! What's so bad about this kid?" and later on tells him to think of it as a "summer camp" (which is utterly ridiculous given that Yusei has probably never been to a summer camp and so has nothing to compare it to, lol).
Additionally, Yusei receives what are pretty much two different sentences. In the sub, he is sentenced to: 1 month in the reeducation center followed by 6 months of labor before being sent back to Satellite. In the dub, he is sentenced to: an unspecified amount of time at the center ("a few months") before being sent back with the added stipulation of never dueling again.
These plus the scene where he's getting his mark are all changed to make it seem less severe. Which I have a huge problem with, honestly. Kids can handle serious topics. Some changes are warranted; this one was largely not.
....
Then we have Yanagi. In the sub, he's in for trespassing. In the dub (found out much later in the episode), he's in for...owning illegal cards? Who knew cards could be illegal? It's just an interesting choice, in my opinion.
Additionally, the order of conversations between Yusei and Yanagi are a bit different. Eventually you still get all the same information, but it's difficult to make comparisons when everything is out of order. I'll just leave it at that and move on.
....
Jack ends up very upset for two different reasons. In the sub, Mikage comments that the duel was a No Result and Jack is upset that anyone even saw it, period. In the dub... Oof. I actually feel sorry (just a little bit) for Jack when Mina comments that the power going out is what saved Jack from losing. Way to kick a man when he's down, Mina. (He is, then, upset at her comment rather than just that she saw it at all.)
Godwin also seems to have two different sets of priorities, here, with what he's concerned about. Compare what he says when he sees where the footage cuts off: Sub: "That means the Crimson Dragon hasn't been filmed clearly." Dub: "Excellent. It seems the power created by its summoning is greater than we ever imagined." This is just...one of those weird changes that I don't really have a comment on other than to say that it's weird and wonder why the heck they decided to do that. That whole conversation is just kind of weirdly changed in small ways.
....
One change that makes sense with the other earlier changes, is the following bit. I include it not because it makes that much of a difference with anything but because the dub makes me chuckle. Shared for your amusement, some of the dialog from the gaurd:
Sub: "The reeducation program starts in the afternoon. Until them, you should think about what you did." vs the Dub: "Yanagi's been a few times before, as you can tell. Personally, I think the food's finally gotten to him."
Additionally, the dub has some dub-only rules for the Facility: no chewing gum, no fighting, and no dueling. I bring this up because it makes very little sense as to why there's a dueling arena and to how Tanner/Himuro even has a duel disk inside. For the duel disk, I could see him bribing a guard (considering he'd have to anyway since this is apparently how things always go, the newbies dueling to earn their place in the pecking order), but the arena makes absolutely no sense. If there is no actual rule against dueling on the inside (as it is in the sub), then at least it makes sense in that, if you can get your deck in, the guards just plain don't care.
....
Once again, there are a lot of subtle changes in the conversation between Jack and Godwin.
Goodwin is a whole more irritated at Jack's antics for one thing. He reprimands Jack before saying that it's in Jack's best interest to tell him what he knows about the Crimson Dragon, as opposed to Godwin more simply stating that the footage is simply information gathering.
Once again, Savage (dub) Jack makes an appearance: "Yusei's not destined for anything but minimum wage." Ouch. (I love it though; it makes me chuckle.) He also makes the accusation that Yusei's mark must be "fake" since he didn't have it two years before. (As opposed to the sub where Jack simply states that Yusei didn't have it the last time he'd seen him.)
While I do love Lazar insulting Jack, I do still prefer the sub, here, for actually explaining why Jack lost by giving the card effects. The dub does not do this in full, which can end up being a bit confusing.
....
Once again, I have to prefer Tanner/Himuro's sub dialog when trying to intimidate Yusei:
Sub: "Just by being a citizen of Satellite, you're the lowest of the low." vs the dub: "You better believe it'll be a lesson you never forget." Both of these circle around to the final dialog of the episode (which I appreciate), and while both are actually good, I have to prefer the sub. It hammers home the on-going theme of worth that pervades the narrative for the entire first two arcs, especially when coupled with another of Himuro's taunts while dueling Yanagi, where in he calls Yanagi's cards "garbage" and one of the lackeys in the background also calls them useless.
And then, of course, the final lines of the episode. IN the dub, it's just... a little more cocky on Yusei's part: "You said we duel here for respect. I think its about time you learn what that really means." I don't hate it, but I don't love it, either. Like, obviously he means 'respecting the cards', but it is just... a little bit cocky, as I said -- especially when compared to the sub and, again, the reoccurring theme of worth: "Of the numerous cards in existence, there is not a single useless card." I think this hammers home both points better, honestly, whereas the dub could (erroneously) be interpreted as "you will come to respect me" rather than respect for all duelists and their cards.
....
So there we have it! Episode 6 in the books!
If you made it all the way to the end, thanks for reading, and be sure to let me know what you think of the changes that were made!

Sekai, SawaNatsu, and HoriNatsu interview with JJ
Tumblr media
Original interview with photos here
Translated via ALPACHIVE
Among the members, who is the most kind?
Sekai: It depends on the type of kindness~ Sawa: If it’s kindness... Sekai: If you mean in terms of getting along (with others), wouldn’t it be Keito? Sawa: Yeah~ Sekai: No matter what happens he never has on a negative face/expression. Hori: Keito is definitely kind. Sawa: As expected, it's Keito. Hori: He messes around but is still caring.
Which member cries the most?
Hori: Keito! Sawa: This one is also Keito. Hori: Or it could be Yusei too~ Sekai: Those two have an image of crying a lot. If Keito watches a movie he will definitely cry, and Yusei has cried on stage many times.
Which member is the most spoiled?
Hori: It’s Taiki-kun. Taiki-kun always has to have a member or someone else with him. Sawa: Yeah for sure (laughs) Hori: Rather than being really obviously/openly spoiled, (he doesn’t like being alone so) actually he often calls Keito... (to meet him) Sekai: That guy can’t go anywhere alone! Hori: He’s also good at finding out where Yusei is and going there. He has the image of always keeping someone around him (laughs).
If you had to choose one member to be your girlfriend, who would you choose?
Sawa: Oh, we're making them our girlfriend~ Sekai: Yeah, if they were a girl. Sawa: It’s not the usual "if you were a girl (who would you date)" question. It’s the opposite. Hori: If I'm a guy and dating one of them as a girl... this is hard. Sekai: Right.... I choose myself! Since we would be the same in everything, if I had myself as a girlfriend, I think it would be really nice. To me, anyway! However… the fact that I can’t cook isn’t so good. But that much is whatever. Having the same interests is nice. Sawa: Choosing a girlfriend is hard… Sekai: Never thought about it, right~ Sawa: I don’t really want any of them as my girlfriend (laughs) but maybe Keito... since he usually becomes a girl! Keiko-chan! Hori: Honestly, since he crossdresses for our concerts and dramas, in terms of visual he’s probably the best (laughs). Sawa: Because in Fanta he’s the one who crossdresses the most (laughs). Hori: He seems to be getting better at it lately. It seems like his face is becoming more well suited to dressing up as a girl (laughs) Sawa: In our drama, he played a girl too, right? If it’s female roles, he did one in Mannequin. (tn: Mannequin Night Fever) Staff: So in terms of looks, it’s Keito? Sawa: Yeah, in terms of looks (laughs). Hori: I think so too (laughs).
If you were to become a fan of a member, who would you choose?
Hori: Probably Sota. I think since he updates his SNS and stuff so faithfully, if I became his fan I would get to see him a lot. So if I really think about it I would likely become his fan. Sekai: SawaNatsu. Because he's sexy! Even though he doesn’t take off his clothes during concerts or try hard to appeal himself (to fans) he’s still sexy. Sawa: A fan of sexiness (laughs). Sekai: Yes, I'm a fan of sexiness. Sawa: For me, probably Sekai-san. He often does things like live broadcasts. Since he often does fan-only broadcasts, I think he’s someone who thinks about his fans a lot.
If you were to bring one member with you to a deserted island, who would you choose?
Hori: One person to a deserted island, huh... Sekai: One person right? Then Taiki~ Ah, but he would probably feel betrayed. Sawa: If he feels betrayed you’re in trouble (laughs). Hori: For me, Keito. Because then I can do whatever I want (laughs). Sawa: Definitely (laughs). Then for me I'd say Sota. I feel like when we’re together we can breathe easily. Outside of work when we go on walks together, or go eat we get along really well, so I think (taking) Sota is good. Sekai: Yeah, I'm okay with Taiki. If he seems betrayed, we can just battle! However, when it comes to making fire and stuff I'll probably have to do it all myself and make the place for us to sleep too, but that’s fine.
Who is the strongest drinker amongst the members?
Sekai: Huh?! Alcohol?! Sawa: I have no idea… Hori: The vocals have an image of being strong drinkers. Sekai: Isn’t SawaNatsu strong? Sawa: No no, I’m weak. I’m so weak (laughs) Sekai: Really? Last time we went to eat I felt like you just kept drinking. Sawa: Because (the drink) was weak! Sekai: Yusei is strong, but his engine is slow to start (tn: takes a while to get into drinking mode) Sawa: If I think of it that way, then Taiki-kun is strong too. Hori: Yusei’s crazy. Sekai: Definitely Yusei. Even though he only drinks occasionally, he’s strong. Staff: Do you drink outside of work? Hori: I don’t drink much. Sekai: I hate drinking! Sawa: Sekai-san is the weakest (laughs)
Among the members, who is the most girly? (lit: heart is most like a girl)
Hori: Like a girl... Sekai: Who’s heart is most like a girl!? Sawa: If it’s like this we can probably never answer (laughs) Hori: "Heart" huh... Sawa: This is hard… Hori: What (qualifies as) like a girl...? (laughs) Sawa: I know right. Hori: I don’t know the criteria for being like a girl (laughs) Sekai: Aside from us three, they’re all girly! Sawa: Ah, maybe (laughs) Sekai: They only care about little things!!
What member can you most rely on?
Sekai: Rely on them?! Hori: Rely on... for me the two oldest. Sawa: I can rely on Sekai-san. Sekai: Huh! For me SawaNatsu~ I can rely on him more than Taiki (laughs) I can rely on Taiki too, but there’s less categories (tn: that he can rely on him for) Sawa: He’s specialized in specific areas (laughs) Sekai: That’s right, (he’s) specialized. He’s the type that fails if you rely on him too much. SawaNatsu is the type that never fails! Sawa: No, I don’t know about that. That’s a lot of pressure (laughs) Sekai: Since these two (NatsuNatsu) are the strong type, they’re really reliable.
Who has the biggest gap (in personality) between onstage and offstage (in private)?
Sawa: Keito is unexpectedly like that. He’s really cool. Onstage he’s amazing, while showing those faces and making those expressions (laughs) In private he never shows that face. There’s not even a hint of it. As expected since he’s the youngest, he tries to put the senpais above him and is very cute. But onstage, Keito is unyielding. Hori: That’s definitely true. Sekai: Yusei is exactly the same. A little dumb and cute. A careless person!

Oops in a way I already briefly answered these questions! I'll try to go little more in depth now!
Tumblr media
Anemone: Is your wedding extravagant or small and quaint? Do you have lots of guests or just a few close friends?
I seem to prefer small weddings! Both my ships with Blazkowicz and Ushio have small weddings with close friends & allies, very private and short affairs with no official venue.
But since we're speaking about number of quests, it¨s still high number (at least for me) if I count right, with Ushio our quest list was about 15+ people since I'm also counting Yusei's friends from Satellite (Blitz and others alongside with Rally, plus Kazama & Mikage AND the normal 5ds group, oh also Jaeger!) We didn't have any wedding gift policy (some were insisted on giving one, like Carly and Crow). I think either Jaeger made us official (if before Ushio retired in my Canon AU) or just a quest (if after, I'm undecided).
For Blazkowicz and Fay, I think the quest count was around 10+ people, as Kreissau Circle was with us. It was in the headquarters not on Eva's Hammer the submarine, so we were surrounded by beautiful paintings at least! Sigrun was Fay's maid of honor and I think either Wyatt or Caroline was William's. I do like the idea of us not having fancy outfits in the moment, like William not having the suit when we married, but later when we registered the date (and named just couple of the entire Circle as witnesses) we did wear fancy outfits. I think Blazkowicz didn't even have his own ring, I had his heirloom one alone.
Blue thistle: What do you and your F/O wear at your wedding? Feel free to provide pictures of wedding attire you would wear!
I think Ushio would wear his canon suit, it's cute (but with yellow tie!)
Tumblr media
Is that tie blue or green or in between? I can never make it out!
Mine was rather extravagant dress! I wanted to look dramatic for once.
I like Blazkowicz in brown, so he would probably wear light brown suit. I don't know about tie color. Though I do have this image;
Tumblr media
And he looks so good in that tie! And the black suit too, but brown is sorta my own idea of Iconic color to Blazkowicz (It's also one of Aiden's own like five colors). He wears his New Order "armor" when we marry in Circle's headquarters:
Tumblr media
I think Fay would have simple pink dress or Rockabilly-like one when we register the marriage as official, but in the moment she'd have pink jeans jacket and pants.
Peony: Who proposed? How did the proposal go?
Both Blazkowicz and Ushio proposed. I don't think I can do the deed.
Blazkowicz canon proposal to his canon love interest is so morbidly hilarious & sweet I'm stealing it. He literally just killed the leader of the Reign not 10 minutes earlier, her dead body is still laying on the table she got axed on, William literally took the ring back from her cold, dead finger! His words, how he proposed was sweet though!
"You make me strong and weak at the same time. Will you marry me?"
I will be fangirling about the choice of words forever, one of small saving graces of New Colossus.
I never seem to settle on how Ushio would propose. On the other hand I imagine him as such a sap, he would try to make it the Most Romantic Thing known to man, but on other hand I have so many daydreams of him popping the question in middle of Elden Ring / Soulsborne run.
I do have rough outline of what he'd say during the deed, how glad he is that he was able to change because it lead him to me, how much he adores & loves me & how he hopes we have many happy years ahead of us.. Just sappy stuff I adore. I imagine he had no ring for this, as our two rings are custom made, but I understood from the way he acted it was meant to be serious & proper proposal.

I’m curious to know your thoughts on Yuma x Tori.
Honestly I'm not the biggest fan of this ship. It just seems a bit forced on the viewers, if you know what I mean. There would be important duels and in the middle it would cut to JUST Tori calling Yuma's name and it was like... TOO obvious she liked him. And it honestly got kind of annoying at times too. Plus, I think they didn't handle Tori as a character super well too; as she was literally added into scenarios she didn't need to be in, and her crush was just completely one sided and established too early in the serious and too obviously to mark out as "Here is the Love Interest TM".
Also her dynamic with Yuma suits a more sibling relationship too, because a lot of the time she does act like a sister and he definitely seems to have more of a brotherly behaviour to her. You could argue that Yuya and Zuzu have the same thing, but the difference is that their relationship was a genuine part of the plot, from what I've seen anyway, and it sort of grew mutually in a sense. With Tori and Yuma there isn't much growth, and Tori just has a crush on Yuma but also acts like a sister to him.
It's a bit like how I don't like Jaden and Alexis as a ship. Jaden's an idiot who didn't even know what a FIANCE was. As a HIGH SCHOOLER. Alexis is intelligent and has more Big Sister vibes, her crushing on Jaden feels off in a way. Tori and Yuma are a bit like that. With Yusei and Akiza the two, especially Yusei, just cared about each other in such a sweet way, especially in season 1, and the romance aspect wasn't immediately established and Akiza's crush was only hinted at a bit, and honestly that makes it sweeter in my opinion, where they grow closer as friends and then slowly fall in love, because then it's like real in a way, and so I geniunely ship them (also the two never date they just get married at once ok i refuse any other interpretation)
On the other hand I can totally get why Yuma and Tori can be seen as a cute couple because they do have some geniunely cute moments, and I could lowkey see Yuma and Tori together but like years and years later. Right now, though, they're more like friends and psuedo-siblings to me. I think that if they just started out without romance from Tori and the two just grew closer over the series and THEN Tori starts loving Yuma I feel like I would have liked the ship more.
The one thing I will ALWAYS give Tori props for was that as soon as she confessed she IMMEDIATELY went "let's go help Astral". In the sub she says something like "lets get back what's most important to you". And I love that she ACKNOWLEDGED that she herself isn't Yuma's priority. Astral is and always will be Yuma's priority, Astral is the one Yuma cares about the most (whether it's platonically or not I'll let you decide what you like :) ). And she was HAPPY to do it. She wasn't even bittersweet about it, the entire scene she was just so happy and excited because Yuma was finally truly happy again, and I just love that about her, that she was happy if Yuma was happy even if it's not what she wants for herself. That's genuine love right there.
So tl/dr: it has the potential to be cute but the show's execution was way too obvious and unnecessary but the ending of it was cute and maybe i'd ship their future selves. They needed more growth and heartfelt moments to make me want to ship it and less of random zoom ins on Tori crying Yuma's name in duels (there were other people who were supposed to care for Yuma too right there!)

hey so how do you think yugi, Joey and yusei would deal with a s/o who’s just quietly depressed all day, they’re also just having cravings all day. Totally out of character. They’re usually so lively and expressive. They seem to get like this once a month so they probably figured out what the problem is already, but if not. And turns out s/o is on their period and s/o is like “I want to murder someone, everything’s making me want to cry and also I want to cuddle somebody. I’m keeping my emotions in check right now cuz I don’t know which feeling is gonna win” she says casually and with zero emotion as she is eating some pink candy. If they offer to do something nice for s/o, s/o finally gives a little smile on their face and lets them do the nice thing?
Hi there. Sorry, I do not accept requests asking for multiple characters in the same ask. Please only keep it to one character per ask. Thanks for understanding.

When Yusei was in Team Satisfaction, building things was his main use. When Sector Security had gotten D-Wheels, the gang had agreed the best thing was for them to have their own so they couldn't be cornered by them. Yusei had agreed to reverse engineer the machine, putting it together with whatever he'd scraped together. The helmet was what he could salvage too. The cat ears on it hadn't bothered him, but the gang had disagreed heavily and insisted that it would make Sector Security take them less seriously. Yusei could not understand why anyone would not take them seriously simply because of the helmet he'd chosen, and continued to wear it.
It continued being a source of arguments until Crow decided to leave the gang upon Kiryu's starting to spiral. Yusei had been the only one to stick around, and even then the fighting continued. One day Kiryu was taken away after she'd taken it too far. Yusei had attempted to step in for her as leader, and he understood what the guys had been talking about when it came to being taken seriously. The gang shattered that day, and they scattered.
Later, Jack stole the bike that Yusei had made. Yusei no longer had a use for the helmet, and lost track of it in a box of things that were too painful to look at. He wound up recovering a different helmet, and moved on. He built a new bike, taking him all the way to Neo Domino as he chased down Jack and the missing Stardust Dragon. In Neo Domino, he found a new group of friends alongside the old ones, and it seemed like their lives were never going to be the same. They battled alongside each other, intending to save the world. They persisted, and won.
He was a different person than the starving boy trying desperately to survive all those years ago. It was why he was sorting through the things that he had back when Team Satisfaction was still together, deciding what to keep and what to throw out. And that's when Yusei found the old helmet that had been the source of arguments. He dusted it off, and the pointed tips were not nearly as bad as he remembered. It was subtle enough, and he couldn't remember what the argument against using it was anymore. So he took along with him, figuring it'd be nice to wear it again. Jack and Crow, however, had not shifted their opinions on it at all.
"Take that vile helmet off, Yusei," Jack said, louder than necessary. He was glaring at the helmet as if it might poison them. "Where did you even find that disgusting thing, anyway?"
"Don't tell me you've kept it this whole time," Crow complained, shaking his head. He merely looked disappointed rather than the pure incensed rage that Jack was wearing. "Seriously, why didn't you throw that thing out?"
Aki looked up from her homework, quietly observing the scene unfolding in front of her. She didn't understand why Crow and Jack were so upset. In fact, she kind of wished she had one herself. She snapped her textbook shut, figuring that once Crow and Jack started yelling she would be unable to focus on her studies. They could work out whatever issue they had with Yusei's new helmet (or old helmet, as it were) on their own. "Come on, Izayoi," Jack called to her venomously. "Surely you can settle this for us."
She shook her head, not wanting to get involved. "I have physics homework to deal with," she huffed, pulling her backpack over her shoulder. "If Yusei is unable to help, then there is no point in me being here. Have a nice day."
With that, she was gone, leaving the three brothers to squabble amongst themselves. "Izayoi never says a bad word about Yusei," Crow complained. "You shouldn't have bothered to ask her anything about it anyway. She's right. We're grown men, we can solve this amongst ourselves."
Yusei rolled his eyes as he straddled his bike. "You guys can argue about it," he said quietly. "I've got other things to deal with."
"Yusei, we're not done with -" Jack's yelling was cut off as Yusei revved his engine, and left their shared apartment. Where he was going to go, he wasn't sure yet. All he knew is that he wanted to be anywhere but here. He let his bike take the lead, ignoring the open stares of passersby as he got on the highway. It only clicked then that he was making his way to Crashtown. He hadn't seen Kiryu in a while, and he figured he might as well reminisce on old times with her.
The signs on the highway passed him by, with the breeze familiar and blowing all around him. It was a nice feeling. A reminder of everything that he'd fought for was now standing tall and proud. He could point towards the bridges, the new buildings, the clean roads as something that was the fruit of his labor. Everything he could've ever wanted when he was in Satellite had come to fruition - now what? What did it mean when he had no next goal beyond the hunger to prove himself in the WRGP? He didn't know the answer.
When he came to a stop in Crashtown, he'd already forgotten about the helmet he'd dug up and didn't understand why Kiryu was looking at him with a level of shock and near outrage. "I thought you'd thrown that ugly helmet away," she said instantly, pointing to the helmet. "Who let you have that god forsaken thing back?"
Right - the helmet. The thing that had been one of their major sources of arguments back when they'd been a couple. All that was neatly tucked away in the past now that Kiryu had grown comfortable with who she was - and that didn't involve Yusei in the picture anymore. She'd long since let go of some of the more toxic ideals she'd held, but it seems that the helmet would always be a source of contention. "I had it in a box," he replied, shrugging. "I kept most of the things from those days."
She sighed, and shook her head. "I can't believe you'd bring the source of one of our arguments here," she said, all the anger that seemed to bubble up fading away. "I've been trying this new thing where I don't hold grudges. Do you always have to make it so hard?"
Yusei cracked a grin at this. "I don't intend to," he joked, pulling the helmet off and setting it aside. "Jack and Crow still hate it. I think they're planning on throwing it away themselves."
"Would you be upset if I said I supported them?" As much as there was a gentle joke in the words, the sharp glint in her eyes suggested it was anything but one. Kiryu motioned towards her house. "Come on, let's talk about what else you want to dig up from the past, you annoying asshole."
Hours later, Yusei was on his way back after Kiryu threatened to throw it out herself if he came back around with it again. He didn't doubt her, either. She could be really stubborn sometimes. The main reason Yusei wound up leaving Crashtown was because Aki had called in near tears over her physics homework. When she got to those levels of stress, Yusei knew that he should step in. So the helmet went back on, and he made his way to the senator's house. The door swung up, and her visible stress seemed to melt away just a tiny bit. There was a glint in her dark hazel eyes - a surefire sign that she was up to something. "The guys really seem to hate that new helmet of yours but I like it," she said, opening the door to invite him in. "Are you gonna make me one to match, or are you gonna hoard the design?"
He couldn't help but smile at this. "You know I'm always happy to make you anything you'd like, Aki."
He stepped inside her home, and she led him towards the dining room. They weren't allowed upstairs by Hideo's rules, but he was always allowed over. "So why do the guys hate that helmet so much, anyway?"
"Ah," he said as he examined the homework she had spread out on the dining room table. So this was where she did her homework when she wasn't doing it over at his place. "I've had it since my days in Team Satisfaction. They thought that it made people take us less seriously."
"I can see their argument," she mused, her head tilting. She hadn't bothered to even reach towards any of the homework. "Most people tend to take how one presents seriously. I don't get it, but it seems to be a thing. Especially when men decide to wear something more associated with femininity."
Yusei considered this. It wasn't something that he'd really thought about before. He was comfortable in how he presented his gender, and he didn't think too deeply about the concept of gendered clothing. Last time it was an issue, he'd agreed to let Luka paint his nails with a glitter polish. But that time, neither Jack nor Crow had cared about it. Lua had been more upset about it, claiming that he was told boys don't wear nail polish. It'd taken help from his brothers to assure Lua that it was okay to be a boy who wears nail polish. "Does this mean that the problem is one they've made up in their heads?"
Aki shrugged. "I don't know if it's entirely made up in their heads but I think you're better off asking them about what their deal is. Maybe you'll be able to work it out. But yeah, if you make me one, I don't care what you wear."
Yusei arrived back at the garage hours later after dinner at the Izayois. Bruno was waiting, and a large, welcoming smile appeared as Yusei drove in. "The other guys said you'd gotten a lame helmet, but it looks nice," Bruno said, and then held up a box of parts. "I got what we needed to finish the engine!"
"I have another project I need to work on," Yusei said as he parked his bike, kicking the kickstand into place. "I also need to talk to Crow and Jack."
"What's the project?"
"I'll need a helmet, a blowtorch, two pieces of metal, and some lights," Yusei said, not bothering to answer the question. "Can you gather that while I go talk to Jack and Crow?"
Bruno nodded, dropping the box off and heading off to gather the materials he would need. Meanwhile, Yusei went off to the kitchen to confront Jack and Crow about their issues with the helmet. Crow, for his part, at least looked sheepish about the previous argument. Jack, however, still looked relatively annoyed. "Are you seriously keeping that thing, Yusei?"
"Remember when Lua got upset about us painting our nails," Yusei asked, ignoring Jack's immediate outburst. "He said that boys shouldn't wear nail polish. But both of you agreed that it was a stupid rule, and that we should be able to do what we want with our nails."
Crow nodded. "I'd thought about that too," he admitted, sighing. "As much as I have bad memories of that helmet... It is your head. And well, it's not the worst thing I've ever seen."
Jack only slightly softened by contrast, shaking his head. He had a history of being stubborn, but Yusei couldn't imagine that Jack wouldn't see the logic. So he humphed, and rolled his eyes. "Fine," Jack said, grumpy about it. "If you insist on that awful thing, I can't exactly stop you."
It was as close a compromise that Yusei could hope for. He didn't have time, anyway. He needed to make a gift for Aki.

Legacy of a Dream Ch 2
External: A03
Chapter: 2/4
Summary: One night a vision from the Crimson Dragon spurs Crow into looking into Pearson's death. As his student he feels he should find out the truth. At the end of it all, will he figure out how to continue Pearson's legacy?
Today was going to be a busy day. Today Crow was going to go to Sector Security to get Trudges help regarding Pearson’s death. He can remember what the monster in his vision looked like. He figured a good enough description would be enough for the case to be looked into.
“Crow!”
The ginger snapped back to reality and looked over to his brothers.
“What?”
“You seem out of it.” Jack said.
“I just… found out something weird.” Crow answered.
Jack was gearing up for a snarky comment from his youngest brother, but he was deflated at what he got. He could tell something was bothering Crow. Even he knew when not to push his buttons.
“Oh, right. I met an old friend and he offered to back the team.” Crow said like it was an offhand comment. “New engines and everything….”
“That fixes our financial issues.” Jack said, elated. To which Crow gave him a glare.
“And what would you of all people would know about our financial issues.” Crow grumbled.
“Stop! It is way too early for that.” Yusei was used to his squabbling brothers. But arguing this early in the day was too much. “I have no problem with this. If you trust him, I trust him.”
“This makes things easier.” Jack shrugs.
Crow was happy his brothers agreed to the setup. He couldn’t wait to approve things with Bolton. Without thinking he placed a hand over his signer mark. This did not go unnoticed by Yusei.
“Something else on your mind?”
“Oh! Nothing….” Crow hurried out the apartment building.
-
Arriving at Sector Security, he asked to see Trudge and Mina. Thankfully, the duo was in the building at the time. Just in time before Trudge went on patrol. Crow was escorted up to Mins’s office to talk to them.
“I need your help to look into the death of someone named Robert Pearson.” Crow asked. “I don’t think his death was all it seems.”
He goes on to explain what the card looks likes and how it effects reality.
“We can look into it but…,” Trudge was uncertain of Crow’s story. “Dreams? Crow are you sure it’s not your grief.”
This earned him a swift jab from Mina.
“I wouldn’t play around with something like this.” Crow pleaded as he pointed to his arm. “My mark kick-started this whole thing. So something about his death is fishy.”
“We will look into it.” Mina said. “We will get back to you as soon as possible.”
Crow thanked them and left the building. In the meantime he threw himself into his work. So work he did.
And work. And work. And work. Crow only focused on work for the next few days. It was starting to worry his brothers. Crow came in late and left early. It was like he was on autopilot. At one point, he didn’t even want to look at or use Blackbird for his deliveries one day. At some point his brothers began to notice Crow’s isolation. The older duo only saw him in passing.
Crow’s sleep schedule became a mess to say the least. No matter what he could not sleep properly. He was too afraid to relive the memory in his dreams. But he needed to sleep. He closed his eyes hoping to get some rest, only to end up not feeling rested at all.
Another restless night for Crow. He spent most of the night tossing and turning in bed. He just wanted to sleep. A reprieve from this void feeling he has. It reminds him of the in-between time of when he left team Satisfaction and met Pearson. That same void feeling hit again when Pearson died. It was a feeling he ignored and hoped to never address. For now he will focus on his work while he waits for Trudge and Mina to give him an update.
The morning was not kind to Crow. He had dark circles under his eyes and his Skin was much paler. He made himself look presentable as possible for work and headed downstairs.
Though, he was being prevented from going outside by his towering blond brother.
“Move Jack.” Crow said.
“I don’t think I will.” Jack shrugged. “You look horrible by the way.” Crow had no time for this. There were other ways out of the building. His steps were uneven as he ran into Yusei.
“You can’t even walk straight. As if we are letting you on a duel runner.” Jack said crossing his arms.
“Then someone else do my job! No volunteers. Then I guess I have to do it myself.” Crow attempts to get past Jack. In his sleep deprived state he was no match for him. “Seriously, what is your problem! Yusei do something!”
“Clearly you are the one with a problem.” Jack scoffs.
“Ugh, move!”
“No!” Jack was firm in being a wall to Crow. “The tournament is close and the last thing we need is you holding us back!”
“I am fine. I am rested enough. Stop treating me like a kid.” Crow said.
“Then stop acting like one!”
“Okay.” Yusei finally chimes in. “Crow, you have been looking sick lately. We are just worried about you.”
“Thank you. I am fine.” Crow responded more favorably to Yusei.
“Why are you so opposed to resting?” Yusei asked.
“Because resting means I have to think about stuff I don’t want to think about.” Crow absolutely did not want to be left alone with his own thoughts. He knew exactly were his mind would wonder and wanted to stay away from that part of his mind. “I-I…. I don’t want to think about how I failed Pearson. How I wasted his legacy. I don’t want to feel nothing again.”
Crow was close to tears. He over to lay down on the couch, turning his back to his brothers. It was silent between the trio. The older duo made themselves comfortable and waited for Crow to continue. If he wanted too.
“This whole situation made me realize what a complete failure I am. Life in Satellite is just waiting to be chewed out and spat out. After I left team Satisfaction, I was by myself for a while. The entire time I felt nothing. Just going on without a purpose. Taking care of kids. Then one night, Pearson and Bolton show up to stop a scuffle. I soon learned that he wanted to teach kids skills to fulfill their dreams. Then one night the warehouse we used caught fire. I tried to save him, but it was too late. Pearson entrusted me with his deck, and I got out not being able to help. His last words to me were to take care of the kids.”
Crow paused for some time, the sound coming from him were his sobs. Yusei and Jack waited before responding, not wanting to interrupt.
“So why are you moping around instead of at Martha’s playing with the rugrats?” Jack had all the tack of a bull in a glass shop. Crow ignored him.
“You didn’t fail Pearson Crow.” Yusei said in a comforting voice.
“I couldn’t protect them! They died because I couldn’t protect them!” Crow shouted.
“Crow, you can’t blame yourself for that! That was all the doing of the dark signers!” Yusei was trying to keep calm. But he was shocked that Crow would somehow getting twisted that he was at fault for the orphans dying. He wasn’t going to let Crow blame himself. “We are going to Martha’s. That is final.”
Crow huffed and stormed to his room. The sound of the door slamming rung throughout the complex.
Since his brothers refused to let him do anything productive today, he had no choice but to hole himself in his room.
