not sure if i have talked about this before but i also really hate how gorons are treated in totk

they are one of my fav and i know they are unpopular and were always kinda slot into the "big fat stupid rock people" role, but i do think totk is one of or the worst case yet; all regions get some life threatening event (ignoring how stupid it is to put the issues you need to solve in the exact same spots as in botw with most changes being also reversible so the actual changes to the environment of the map are largely some small rocks sprinkled about) and they get .. drugs (haha)

like i dont wanna downplay anything but their problem being that they are obsessed with eating (>_>) some drugged rock that makes them mean and lazy (even if the reason is fine ... if i remember right and didnt make up that they had to dig elsewhere for food bc of death mountain losing its lava flow, the execution is my problem -like the vast majority of this game is a ok to great idea with passable to horrible execution of it) and arent even a danger to you (which i thought at first when you approach goronia the normal path and two gorons start to walk towards you if you come near saying creepy shit- i thought they are gonna attack me or lure me into a trap but again .. only to find them wanting me to pay to be let through (i think??) and all other drugged ones are largely just ... eating or lying around ........

like it would have been cool if that drugged rock stuff made them actually agressive, like the friendly easy going rock people being turned into something akin to a starved animal after eating poison bc they were at risk of starving sounds alot more .. impactful and scary (even if it would still be about food, which idk about you but the only kind of fatter npcs, even if non human, being made all about food is .. hm, aside from other possibly bad implications from this, but im trying to roll with the idea of it)

and then poor yuno being put in a stupid (stereotypical?) wrestler outfit and hes LITERALLY being mindcontrolled is so ...... ugh (again, idea is ok but- you get it) and then him being told by two CHILDREN that that obviously not zelda might not be zelda and it not only being the only time that idea is openly said until its "revealed" that hhhwhat?? it was a fake one?? in the mid battle of the "story" and he doesnt even believe it (both bc haha hes stupid and cant understand such a thing and also link not being able to tell anyone ... even his friends ....... ) is just so disrespectful, its ok not to be the smartest guy in the room (tho in totk pretty much anyone is made so much dumber for no reason...) but it being so clearly the gorons that get treated like this just annoys me so much, you know no one of the other races would be treated like that

(not to reach a little but it also plays into how koga is portrayed, like i love him to death and there are things that largely the gameplay only implies of him not being that incompetent, but hes clearly meant to be laughing material, the boss of the band of 'evil' assassins being lazy, incompetent and 'childish' is funny right?? and although i hc that the either super thin or super beefed up appearance of yiga members are just an appearance like their disguises of normal people to seem more unified and less indentifyable- that is still only a hc and then koga being the only character that is visibly fatter (aside from ... the gorons and .. king dorephan??) it puts a pebble more onto the pile of pebbles of little annoyances)

also yuno saying, post mid "story" battle, that no one actually knows anything about ganondorf aside from him being evil and it going complete ingored and never mentioned again feels like the type of thing a games does when they are critized for soemthing and instead of changing it they put a line in the game essentially saying "yeah we know but we are not gonna do aynthing about it lol" (like thinking of the line ashe from league of legends, whos design has been critized alot bc shes running around in a stupid tiny dress in the snow lands of their world, got when her dialog was updated that made her say sth like "yes im wearing a little dress in the forever winter land, deal with it lol" which perhaps was supposed to be a joke but it just feels like a "lol we know, fuck you")

heres something incredible niche. with the help of raymap i spent a few hours making an entire height chart of almost all the characters and creatures (and a plum) in rayman 3, minus the absolute largest ones

heres the whole thing uncropped (12.8 mb, 26270x2383)

and here it is condensed into like the most important individual characters

(and that link too, 7010x2035)

below is some notes about it, a whole bunch of rambling and stuff, i put a lot of effort into this so check this out

this is taken with raymap by looking at each map in the orthographic front view, relocating every object i need to -1500 Y position with 0 for everything else (minus x position just so they could be side by side). the rotation and scale is all set to 1. almost all of the objects are the first frame of their idle animation

only exceptions for the rotation were CagouFlaps (hoodloon), francesco (red bird), piranha and Dirigible, all for convenience. one of the refluxes (the fight one with the glowy face) is also an exception to the animations thing, hes using the first frame of an animation different from his idle one so he stood more upright

the arrangements i took were like this. i had to take 43 screenshots like this (with the transparent screenshot option) and then align them using rayman as an anchor, as i included him in every screenshot

the fact that they were all at the same exact Y position is why the characters are sometimes slightly below or slightly above where the floor is supposed to be, thats just how the object is positioned in the game itself basically and i chose to leave that in. i ignored that for my height sorting though

i didnt use all screenshots, i just excluded everything that was larger than a mawpaw because the filesize in this chart was already large enough. im not bloating them with something that was likely going to end up well over 10k pixels tall and wide

i also excluded a bunch of inanimate objects like piggy banks and gems and cages and stuff, but i have screenshots with them

i also straight up forgot francesco so its not in the chart. but heres its size relative to rayman, probably would have been between the orange glowy fairy and either a grim or andre

this slightly tinier colorful hoodmonger is just from the final boss fight, which is a separate object family from the three other types of hoodmonger (which are all actually the same family)

the other fairy thingy (luisane) got kinda botched in the transparent screenshot so i just screenshotted it how it appeared in raymap itself directly so it has a black background. also i know the rat looks really weird, its just Like That its not modeled on the bottom, in retrospect i really should have rotated that one sideways too

the flabar/bonton has wings but theyre solid white (bc the texture for them is actually missing in final, one of the demos had them) and they blended into the background oops. heres a snippet from a larger transparent version of the chart

the way i actually sorted all the heights is i generally ignored stuff like hair and hats, thats why some teensies ended up being outright taller than rayman

also yeah i dont know why specifically generic teensies are so tiny compared to all the other ones. my guess is that their size was just leftover from the previous games and didnt account for the ones original to rayman 3 being scaled up, or something?

i love the teensy heights in this though i love that some are taller than rayman and the apparent slight variety present in their heights (even if you cant tell it at all and theyre all shaped the same really)

anyway i also unfortunately had to leave some guys out since i just couldnt move their objects for some reason, those being -iceglob (globox stuck in a block of ice unsurprisingly enough) -sk8guard (the teensy that catches you in teensy highways) -ProjCanon (thingy that you have to aim at celoche to damage it) -wbug (little bugs that are in bog of murk supposedly but i never saw them outside of raymap)

oh well i can finangle a way to get them out of perspective view i hope

playing minecraft with the weasleys (featuring fleur and harry)

a/n: i’m playing minecraft with my friends rn and this is mostly based on them ig. i might make a one shot for this in the near future. some of these are actually stuff me and my friends have done

you guys would definitely have an smp with all of them.

percy and charlie probably don’t know how to play, ron and the twins would teach them before they actually start playing survival.

if you’re dating one of them, (except bill) and you guys first start the smp with only one house and a bunch of beds sticking together, everyone (except ginny) would be atleast 1 bed away from you

percy would be scared of mobs at first.

charlie probably wouldn’t want to fight the ender dragon bc yk

the twins would kill ron non stop

bill would be the only one who plays it properly, building all the farms, making houses, hunting and mining.

ginny would kill all the mobs for percy. she’s wearing diamond armor and has a shield 24/7

if you were playing with them, so would harry and fleur (bc she would watch bill and be so intrigued)

instead of fleur actually making progress, she would have a small little area of the world full of flowers and cottagecore stuff

harry and ron vs fred and george, they’d kill each other a lot.

when harry and ron fish, harry would fish ron and ron would whine whenever he didnt get fish.

percy would get a hang of it and have this small simple house with sorted chests with valuables, stone, dirt, etc

bill and percy made a multilevel farm

ginny hunts alot.

ron and harry steal from bill and percy a lot too.

ginny and fleur have a cottagecore cave

fred and george always makes themselves creative and spawn multiple mobs to freeze the server.

you ask fred and george for tnt because they’re in creative, you threaten to blow percy’s house up if he keeps bossing everyone around

fleur doesnt like killing animals. she also asked the twins for wolf spawn eggs and cat spawn eggs.

bill threatens the twins with shutting down the server if they don’t go back to survival.

percy has steve as his skin

hermione and mrs weasley always gets so annoyed they spend all their time playing.

fred and george share a house but george puts flowers and stuff outside to make it prettier

they definitely have a statue of something made of dirt in the middle of their world.

harry explored the world alone and got lost.

if you guys play a map, fred and george blow the whole thing up and everyone blames them for the lag

percy actually appreciates the map

fleur brings so much animals back to her and fleurs house

fred and george blow up creepers a lot

when they go to the nether, they’d make some plan to push ron in the lava.

ginny would mine the most, she has diamonds, iron, emeralds, etc for days

george and fleur always team up to look for flowers and plants to make the world more attractive

fred has a multiple big chests of fireworks from creative mode

exploring as a group so harry wouldn’t get lost

fleur stopping every 5 minutes because of a new biome, george has to convince her that they need to continue exploring and that he’ll save the coordinates

bill and charlie bringing leads to bring animals home

ginny accidentally falling in a bunch of holes

ron being picky and not wanting to eat bread and just wants meat/fish

harry has 2 dogs named padfoot and moony <3

they probably play adventure maps sometimes but charlie, bill and percy are only there to babysit.

me navigating the royal waterways in hollow knight

#the new enemy types are...coma se dice...fucked up #those worm-like enemies are so gross. and the noise they make....i think i'd be less scared playing an actual horror game #also i arrived at the area where cornifer is and there was BOSS MUSIC and i couldnt find the boss #it was like...hewwo? im just trying to purchase one (1) map dont kill me thnx?#then i realize that the 'boss' is these annoying puffy fish things i gotta take out #but i did accidentally ran into an actual boss. bc ofc i did. its the shit defender. he throws shit at me #didnt know this guy is at doodoo area. i thought those gross shit on the ground were...fleshy substance...dont know which is worse #my dumbass saw this huge area and went 'hum. this could be a boss. but i COULD be encountering a friend instead'#i did not encounter a friend #and i quickly died because my brain stops functioning and i stop dodging the moment i encounter a new boss #im just trying to find this nobility bug ok omg get out of here doo-doo man #also im avoiding fighting the soul master cause im having such huge trouble fighting these teleporting mage bugs #gonna prioritizing fighting this poop guy who throws doo-doo at me. i rather deal with poop man than to deal with mage bug #but i have to fight the soul master soon cause i need the downward dive ability he gives to properly navigate the crystal mine #yolanda talks

weirdly enough this looks like rose’s sprite. which.... im guessing the imps are based on the kid’s kernelsprites? so whenever a kid prototypes something, the imps mirror that prototype with themselves. which is why we see a jester-like cat octopus. that would make so much fricking sense considering we just saw rose enter the game. god imagine what they would look like after jades session. because if it just continued to evolve and evolve after every sprite, they would be a mix between so many different things.

im pretty sure i mentioned all these things before but its too late to start drawing anything and each time i see someone talk about totk i just get sad and frustrated again

literally by FAR the biggest problem about totk is that it REFUSES to connect to botw in any way beyond reusing the same map and character models, and even taking the things botw had established and ruin them entirely

ancient hero? BAM weird sonau dog thing that remains completely unexplained and out of nowhere eight heroine myster- BAM just some guy long gone sonau peopl- BAM here they are and they have zero connection to the ones of botw mystical dragons gracing the skies with their presence- BAM probably some dude who ate a magic pebble once strange mystical nature god you could rarely encounter in one specific spot and the area was made to feel utteraly unsettling but also divine- BAM now hes everywhere and only serves you as a shorthand for man pointing at cave the strange energy all shiekah tech was powered with with certain locations being ones where alot of it was concentrated including beneath hyrule castle clearly stating that somethings up with that- welp theres evil guy donw there but he has zero connection to all that lol

the whole shiekah tech thing, i just- WHY???? LIKE THAT??? there was so much stuff in botw that seemed deliberately placed that there IS more to it and now it all vanished and nothing of that mattered??? i saw a video of someone comparing certain places directly and on some where towers literally broke away tons of debris where just like .. sanded back down like nothing ever happened???; the fuking mechanism of how the towers and shrines and the pillars around the castle worked AND WHAT THE BOTW BOSS ARENA WAS ACTUALLY FOR?? its all gone and replaced with dirt; tHE ANCIENT FUCKING FURNANCES UTTERLY GONE AND REPLACED WITH ROCKS HUH???? so nothing of all that talk about their mystery and mechanism mattered???? the luminous stoens and its connection to spirits and how concentrated spiritual energy might have been what powered the tech- like you could connect things, and they made SENSE, so much sense that that seemed like it was intentionally setting up- only for it all to be just GONE?? to literally say lol it all vanished and that we shouldnt worry about it- like what the FUCK (and it also AGAIN doesnt make sense in itself bc WE SEE GUARDIAN PARTS in the towers, and some parts of them too are made of clearly shiekah tech stuff so it cant all have vanished- all their mystery doesnt matter bc idk it just works i guess lol and its not even called shiekah tech at any point either its just there and also not lol-)

(and even the smaller things like .. where the fuck does link live if everyone treats him like a goddamn stranger in the town you had to buy a house in botw for it to not be demolished and now that house is there but its not yours and noone knows you??? sth i personalyl found strange too that dumsda, the guy you help build an entire town, taburasa, had a very specific talking quirk i loved, and its all just gone in totk too, he talks like any other person all of the sudden

also at the end of botw finally being reunited with zelda and giving you the taste of being in the game WITH her at the same time in the intro to totk- WOOP away she goes! shes your pretty prize at the end and nothing more, what a way to disrespect her and her character..)

imagine if majoras mask didnt have the opening like it has and it otherwise stayed the same and they tried to tell you that its a direct sequel happening exactly where ocarina of time happened in the same world, zelda who?? ganondorf who??? things seem weird and off? lol dont worry about that :)) that would be weird and not make any sense at all now would it??

... sorry going on another rant again, ill just never be able to accept everything from botw didnt actually matter, and despite what some people might say, its pretty hard to ignore totk bc i LOVE botw, and as much as i hate it, they are connected in canon, even if it makes no sense

sprigs = Patrick Sprigs aka Gemini Spark White from Megaman Starforce, mostly canon-compliant but a lot of my memories are from years after the game– i left the echo ridge area to get therapy after the sheer fuckery that was SF1 and me attempting to destroy the world and returned around the time of SF3. i ALSO REALLY HATE ARTHUR “ACE” EOS OR WHATEVER HIS NAME IS I JUST REALLY DONT LIKE HIM :V

yuta: anything sweet? or like Anything honestly just. someone stop this gremlin boy

sprigs: i have a specific memory involving neapolitan ice cream sandwich bars that was actually very positive so, that i guess :V

yuta: hmmmm not a lot? like specific songs do i guess :0 and sometimes im like I WANT 2 JOG but i dont have the stamina but if im in a strong yuta shift ill be vibrating 24/7 bc i was so physically active in that life

sprigs: ngl sometimes system stuff does? cause. i was a system. a very shitty system but. :V sometimes bickering w/ mae or ink reminds me of talking to rey and i go “aw” for a bit.

yuta: SUN,,,, lies facedown on the ground and just. photosynthesizes. (towa city was always clouded over and Sinister, i hated it, legit all my memories of towa are just “dark and sad”)

yuta: I WANT YUTA TO RUN!!! i think i decided that if i went to hope’s peak i would’ve been SHSL Track Star or something like that. i could also swim which is something i cant do at front :V (edit from after question 12: ALSO CAN WE APPRECIATE THE SELF-GIVEN TITLE OF “SHSL NONFATAL EXPLOSION”)

sprigs: i think i did some sort of fabric crafts thing? not like, knitting, uhhh. SEWING thats the word. i also gardened. shoves my entire arms into the dirt. this is my home

sprigs: I MEAN , NOT TRY TO DESTROY THE WORLD , also fucking, tell geo what the hell was wrong with me , but it was kind of a hard position to be in? bc rey was literally a trauma split from horrific childhood abuse (moreso than was revealed canonically, for me) and i was just a middleschooler. also staying in contact with geo while overseas (the bonus boss in sf2 isnt canon for me) because from his perspective i just dropped off the map bc i was too ashamed to talk to him. ALSO HEY @ SELF DONT FUCKING DESTROY GEO’S TRUST IN EVERYONE, MAYBE,

12. what outfit did you like best in your canon?

yuta: i love my hoodie!! but it got Fucking Wrecked for obvious reasons augh. theres art of Nonfatal Explosion Yuta w/ a NGE shirt that i vaguely remember owning haha

sprigs: my canon outfit |D i was very upset when i outgrew it so i kept trying to find clothes similar to it

13. in a modern setting, what would you as your kin/id wear?

yuta: was near-modern so p much same

sprigs: fashion sense in 22XX makes no sense but like. big ol sweaters. armwarmers. comfy

yuta: visiting hope’s peak is the most vivid bc i got to meet all my friends? heck? and i vaguely remember reuniting with komaru and it was great. there were hugs.

sprigs: noT REALLY,,, like even looking back on it i kep being like. i was such a wreck. literally everything possible went wrong in patrick sprigs’s life. even Good Periods had bad shit happen, like i got outed to everybody by ace? which is like half of why i hate him? it was immensely awful augh

so my roommate bought me:a & ive been playing it while he’s at school lately & just. it is cementing home a lot of feelings ive been having lately... this is rly not about the game at all (tho jesus christ thats the worst character creator ive ever used).

but i feel like..... im not fully in my body, ever. like im always operating with half my senses shut down. (im not against self diagnosis im just, not trusting myself against knowing what the fuck is going on? i don’t know how to put this. i always think i am wrong, when it comes to myself. but like. im almost certain i am on the autistm spectrum. this probably has something to do with this.) i am both bad at controlling my own body and also controlling the virtual body in the game. like there were a lot of flaws with da:i but one thing i really hated was how they took away that click to walk feature which of course made walking thru doors in that game very difficult for me.

but also like i just dont understand video games. i just can’t seem to get what i am supposed to do and how i am supposed to do it & i feel like, it’s getting worse, i don’t know if games are getting more complex or if i am getting worse at doing things. like the combat isn’t even the hard part, i mean i am playing on narrative but aside from some boss fights, in the original trilogy it didnt bother me too much? id rather use a ranged attack anyway so shooting things isnt too complex. now, finding where i am supposed to go, using the map to get there, and interacting with it for hte quest? this is next to impossible.

it’s really depressing and frustrating and exhausting honestly because it’s supposed to be a fun thing and like, whatever flaws this game has this is not really one of them, this is my own problem. and it sucks because i am so good at a lot of things other people aren’t, but i am so bad at some very basic things. and i know i should view it as “this is a thing i just can’t do, oh well, move on to something more fun” but i just can’t stop thinking it’s something i’m failing at because of something i can do? if that makes sense. like if i try hard enough. and it’s a video game. it should be fun.

i wish i had finished replaying me2 & 3 before this came out bc maybe id be a little more familiar with games, because i don’t really play video games...

anyway when i was a kid my brothers used to make me play video games so they could laugh at how bad i was ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

actually like just in general im pretty depressed right now so thats cool. i hope that i get something from RIC soon cause that small fear that ill never get accepted to college is you know, still with me, always.
