im pretty sure i mentioned all these things before but its too late to start drawing anything and each time i see someone talk about totk i just get sad and frustrated again
literally by FAR the biggest problem about totk is that it REFUSES to connect to botw in any way beyond reusing the same map and character models, and even taking the things botw had established and ruin them entirely
ancient hero? BAM weird sonau dog thing that remains completely unexplained and out of nowhere eight heroine myster- BAM just some guy long gone sonau peopl- BAM here they are and they have zero connection to the ones of botw mystical dragons gracing the skies with their presence- BAM probably some dude who ate a magic pebble once strange mystical nature god you could rarely encounter in one specific spot and the area was made to feel utteraly unsettling but also divine- BAM now hes everywhere and only serves you as a shorthand for man pointing at cave the strange energy all shiekah tech was powered with with certain locations being ones where alot of it was concentrated including beneath hyrule castle clearly stating that somethings up with that- welp theres evil guy donw there but he has zero connection to all that lol
the whole shiekah tech thing, i just- WHY???? LIKE THAT??? there was so much stuff in botw that seemed deliberately placed that there IS more to it and now it all vanished and nothing of that mattered??? i saw a video of someone comparing certain places directly and on some where towers literally broke away tons of debris where just like .. sanded back down like nothing ever happened???; the fuking mechanism of how the towers and shrines and the pillars around the castle worked AND WHAT THE BOTW BOSS ARENA WAS ACTUALLY FOR?? its all gone and replaced with dirt; tHE ANCIENT FUCKING FURNANCES UTTERLY GONE AND REPLACED WITH ROCKS HUH???? so nothing of all that talk about their mystery and mechanism mattered???? the luminous stoens and its connection to spirits and how concentrated spiritual energy might have been what powered the tech- like you could connect things, and they made SENSE, so much sense that that seemed like it was intentionally setting up- only for it all to be just GONE?? to literally say lol it all vanished and that we shouldnt worry about it- like what the FUCK (and it also AGAIN doesnt make sense in itself bc WE SEE GUARDIAN PARTS in the towers, and some parts of them too are made of clearly shiekah tech stuff so it cant all have vanished- all their mystery doesnt matter bc idk it just works i guess lol and its not even called shiekah tech at any point either its just there and also not lol-)
(and even the smaller things like .. where the fuck does link live if everyone treats him like a goddamn stranger in the town you had to buy a house in botw for it to not be demolished and now that house is there but its not yours and noone knows you??? sth i personalyl found strange too that dumsda, the guy you help build an entire town, taburasa, had a very specific talking quirk i loved, and its all just gone in totk too, he talks like any other person all of the sudden
also at the end of botw finally being reunited with zelda and giving you the taste of being in the game WITH her at the same time in the intro to totk- WOOP away she goes! shes your pretty prize at the end and nothing more, what a way to disrespect her and her character..)
imagine if majoras mask didnt have the opening like it has and it otherwise stayed the same and they tried to tell you that its a direct sequel happening exactly where ocarina of time happened in the same world, zelda who?? ganondorf who??? things seem weird and off? lol dont worry about that :)) that would be weird and not make any sense at all now would it??
... sorry going on another rant again, ill just never be able to accept everything from botw didnt actually matter, and despite what some people might say, its pretty hard to ignore totk bc i LOVE botw, and as much as i hate it, they are connected in canon, even if it makes no sense

Not to be crass but I think if DC actually goes through with James Gunn’s stupid ass “use the movie actors in DC games and shows instead of voice actors” idea then literally every single living voice actor who has ever voiced any DC character in anything ever should be legally allowed to take turns beating his ass into the ground.

Every time I see someone baffled at the almost-entirely female cast of Signalis, and yet never see any questioning of the common almost-entirely-male casts of other games, I’m just like

Something tells me that König did not have a usual childhood not just because of anxiety.
He entered military service with 17, which requires parental permission. Many kids in the german speaking countries still go to school when 17. König's parents being okay with their kid not pursuing education, which is highly socially expected of young people in all german-speaking countries, but instead actively allowing him to join the army, is extremely unusual.
Also, the military does not have the same social standing in Austria or Germany as let's say in the USA. It is not a very common thing people do here - especially minors.
Like, did his parents want him gone? Or did they actually felt like that was the best choice for their son because of circumstances unknown to us? Or did 17-year-old-König convince his parents AND the enlist officer to allow him to join the army somehow, giving an anxiety plagued teen a gun? And what kind of environment would allow that?

Nintendo: We set Breath of the Wild 10,000 years in the future so we could soft-reboot the series, because we got tired of keeping track of the different timelines. Breath of the Wild can act as both an entry point for newcomers and a good game for veterans because they can imagine whatever timeline they like being in its past. We don't care.
Also Nintendo: Anyway so here's our sequel to Breath of the Wild, in which much of the story takes place 10,000 years ago with events that make it incompatible with the three timelines we talked about before since it ignores/reboots the events of the game that split the timeline in the first place. :)

º ✧ 。 hi good morning happy friday just a friendly reminder that what we're NOT gonna do is stand for any harry and mj's friendship ERASURE in this house. this girlie pop did not SCREAM and sprint down the stairs just because "her boyfriend's bestie" came back...
Tumblr media
yes, ofc, harry and pete have been friends for longer and are MUCH closer to one another. yes they have a BOND that mj isn't a part of and never will be. but don't you dare stand there and act like harry osborn doesn't ADORE mary jane watson all on her own and love the fuck outta her. don't you try and tell me that mj was only over at harry's apartment after getting attacked in the tunnels because they were mutually worried about pete - she was there because she feels SAFE with him around and she was scared to death. because they LEAN on each other when they're at their weakest.
he doesn't just STAN the two of them together because pete's happy - he does it because they're BOTH happy
THEY. ARE. ALSO. CLOSE. FRIENDS. and you frankly cheapen the emotional impact of the choices harry makes under the influence of the symbiote at the end of the game when you IGNORE that and just focus on the boys.

GAMERS!!! attention attention
just wanted to say that if u own a nintendo switch and u LOVE jrpgs/adventure/fantasy type anime esque games u should 200% download and play octopath traveler 2. it came out like a month ago but. hear me out. it’s so damn good and i’ve been addicted to it!
(also if you didn’t play the first game dw. it’s not connected story-wise so u can just buy the second one). entire game is about $60 usd but trust me it’s worth every penny, the demos are also free in the switch e-shop if you wanna dip your toes in!
Tumblr media
if you’ve NEVER heard of it, it’s basically like pixelated jrpg style from the 90s but it has a modern twist on it (made with unreal engine so you know it’s gonna look stunning). simply put, it’s an absolute love letter to those pixelated sprites that we all know and love and grew up with. but with 3D elements & particle effects and stuff, also did i mention there’s lots of angsty traumatic cutscenes about the 8 main characters in the game and almost everything is beautifully voice acted? (like fking seriously. no spoilers but ALL of these 8 characters you play as have traumatic backstories except one character it’s hilarious. we love fictional trauma, mama)
Tumblr media
in terms of playstyle - i always compare it to pokemon but better. i grew up loving pokemon but this game has a way better battle system than pkmn, it’s like your typical turn-based JRPG but it has way more elements to it that make it much more engaging and rewarding to follow. also all of the characters talk and grunt and say ~*~anime protagonist~*~ energy quotes while they’re beating up giant demon worms in the desert or giant sharks in the ocean. like holy fuck it’s so epic and DID I MENTION if you’re a weeb you can literally change the voice acting to japanese if you really prefer that (you fucking weebs, i see you).
Tumblr media
i’m gonna try to wrap it up because i could literally talk about this absolute modern cult classic series by square enix for hours, the game is AMAZING and i promise you will not regret picking this up. it actually bothers me how little people talk about this game but i don’t mind because it’s an absolute gem to the gaming community. if you’re wondering who my favorite character from octopath 2 is, it’s this guy above ^ named partitio. his lore is basically that he’s a merchant that wants to defeat poverty LIKE HELLO we love a himbo who wants to dismantle capitalism...but anyways. *mic drop* play octopath traveler. NOW.

Update on the Deadly Defender's Bow situation: according to the LotRO companion, there are a total of eleven bows that share this appearance. Two of them, however, I believe are not actually accessible in game, the Ashwood Recurve Bow and Tanglind, leaving me with nine options. I've put detailed information about each bow under the cut, but the short summary is this:
In Eriador, I might be able to find the Deadly Defender's Bow. It seems to be intended as a sort of Ultimate Weapon for level 40 characters, and has been in the game since very early in its development. My suspicion is that it was intended for "endgamer" players before Angmar was even open, and that I will actually find it on level 37-40 enemies, rather than 40 and above (as it isn't terribly uncommon in early game areas to find gear a few levels above whatever you're actually fighting, so you can "grow into it"), so I've been hunting around the endgame areas of Evendim and the Trollshaws, but without much luck on either count. Some challenges include the fact that the game doesn't appear to consider Gauredain to be "humanoid" based on the loot they drop (or rather the loot they don't drop), so I've pretty much been restricted to Angmarim and a handful of tomb-robbers in Evendim and the wights and hillmen in that one tiny corner of the Trollshaws.
In Moria and Lothlorien, there are 5 possible bows that might have the appearance I want: the Bow of Bluffing (58), the Masterful Bow of Extermination (52), two variations on the Supple Bow (59), and the Swift Bow (54). From my brief excursions into Moria I also think these might be found on enemies a few levels below the actual bow's level. Also, none of these names are unique. There are lots of bows with these names in Moria. There's more information about that below the readmore.
And in Mirkwood there are 3 possible bows: a different Bow of Bluffing (62) and two more variations on the Supple Bow (63). Again, these aren't unique names, more information below.
I'm not asking anyone to go on a hunt for this bow (I've been hunting for this bow for almost two years with no luck) but if you do see it, please let me know, and any information on where you got it from is much appreciated! This is the appearance I'm looking for:
Tumblr media
(Low quality screenshot but it's the bow new Hunter characters hold during the first stage of character creation. And beautiful. Look at how beautiful.)
More information about each bow under the cut, as well as links to their LotRO Build cards for even more information.
Deadly Defender's Bow Rare item Item level: 42 Min. level: 40 Bind on Acquire
Ashwood Recurve Bow Rare item Item level: 75 Min. level: 75 Bind on Acquire Note: The LotRO Companion includes a table of scaling information for this item which I believe it didn't include a few months ago (though I could be misremembering), showing scaling information from level 45 to 140. It's possible it's in incorporated into scaling loot tables, possibly to facilitate item drops in missions, though unlikely, as it still has the -10% Fire-arrow Miss Chance attribute, which still, as far as I can tell, doesn't refer to an actual skill in game. LotroBuild seems to indicate that this is a Hunter skill of some sort, but I have no idea which one, and still categorize this item as "probably obsolete" and "most likely just the item that the character creator screen references." (Besides, why would there be a level 75 bow with specific references to Hunter skills when level 75 Hunters ought to have a LI? That would be silly. Although to be fair I got all the way to 120-something before I sat down and really put work into getting myself a proper LI.)
Bow of Bluffing I* Rare item Item level: 58 Min. level: 58 Bind on Equip Note: According to the LotRO Companion, this item can sometimes be found in level-appropriate wooden chests.
Bow of Bluffing II* Rare item Item level: 62 Min. level: 62 Bind on Equip Note: According to the LotRO Companion, this item can sometimes be found in level-appropriate backpacks, corpses, and wooden chests.
Masterful Bow of Extermination* Rare item Item level: 52 Min. level: 52 Bind on Equip Note: According to the LotRO Companion, this item can sometimes be found in level-appropriate wooden chests.
Supple Bow I** Rare item Item level: 59 Min. level: 59 Bind on Equip Note: According to the LotRO Companion, this item can sometimes be found in level-appropriate wooden chests.
Supple Bow II** Rare item Item level: 59 Min. level: 59 Bind on Equip Note: According to the LotRO Companion, this item can sometimes be found in level-appropriate wooden chests.
Supple Bow III** Rare item Item level: 63 Min. level: 63 Bind on Equip Note: According to the LotRO Companion, this item can sometimes be found in level-appropriate backpacks, corpses, and wooden chests.
Supple Bow IV** Rare item Item level: 63 Min. level: 63 Bind on Equip Note: According to the LotRO Companion, this item can sometimes be found in level-appropriate backpacks, corpses, and wooden chests.
Swift Bow** Rare item Item level: 54 Min. level: 54 Bind on Equip Note: According to the LotRO Companion, this item can sometimes be found in level-appropriate wooden chests.
Tanglind Legendary item Item level: 35 Min. level: 35 Bind on Acquire Note: This is a Hunter class item. It's also the only non-rare item on the list. A level 35 legendary item is already a bit odd, but it gets odder; it appears to be part of a set of level 35 legendary weapons that all share similar brief descriptions along the same lines: Tanglind's is, "Bow Song, legendary Elf-bow of Forest of Brethil." There is also a crossbow, Ferediron, which is class-restricted, but aside from that none of the other weapons are class items, although a few of them are unique. My suspicion is that this series of weapons were meant to be rewards for some kind of quest or deed in game that was never implemented, especially since the inconsistencies in construction make me feel like the series isn't even properly finished yet. And nobody I've talked to has ever found any of these weapons in game. (I wonder if they might implement them as rewards for class deeds, now that you don't get trait points from that anymore? Or something similar, anyway.) In any event, I'm not spending any time looking for this one.
*Items marked with a single star do not have unique names. There are lots of bows in the game with this name. However, if they only have a single star they can be differentiated by their level and rarity: the only rare quality bow of that level with that name has the desired appearance. **Items marked with two stars cannot be distinguished by their level and rarity: there are several rare quality bows of that level with that name and not all of them have the desired appearance.

My toxic trait is that the moment someone makes a joke about Kirumi being a mom I can no longer respect any of their thoughts on any characters. If you are so incapable of seeing women who enjoy helping others as anything other than mother figures that you will consistently reference it to a character who says outright several times that she HATES being called that or considered in that way. That's a you problem. And I don't trust your ability to look at characters as they are outside of initial impressions. (obvious disclaimer if you just skipped over those dialogues: you are so valid, now you know!)
