Hey, this is just a rant

I was a kid when I first got Splatoon, heck, even the WiiU. I remember even asking if I could play it before going to school (I didn’t even though they allowed me to.) I remember maining the Krak-on splat roller. I also always wore the fake contacts and the pink trainers (I don’t remember what shirt I was wearing though.)

However, my WiiU console just suddenly had a crack on the screen. I could still play it, just not use the map as I used to. I missed a lot of splatfests and even the final one, but I knew what happened in terms of which team won.

Years later, I no longer have a WiiU and got a Nintendo switch for Christmas, Splatoon 2 being one of the games I first got. I honestly didn’t mind it, though I found it to be somewhat of a repeat of Splatoon 1 at the time. I appreciate it more now. I mained the dualies at the time.

Then, Octo expansion came out, and I really wanted it because once I heard you could become an octoling after completing it, I decided I wanted it.

Around the time I completed Octo expansion, was when I made my ocs.

Then, Splatoon 3 came around, and I got that for Christmas as well. I started playing it a lot, and my first Splatfest was Spicy v Sweet v Sour in Splatoon 3. Now, I went between many mains, but ended up using the aerospray at first, then the ink brush, and just today, I was considering becoming a Krak-on splat roller main again.

Now that the online services for WiiU and DS have shut down, I have to say that Splatoon is what started my gaming journey for me.

Triple Dose Timeline (canon is puddy in my hands)

here's an explanation on how exactly Meggy got fucked over by the universe 3 times

note: The following events replace the anime arc because everyone was to busy searching for Meggy that the anime challenge never happened

Meggy was kidnapped by a group of octarians (who were ordered to do so because DJ Octavia discovered Agent 3 had a sister and had a big brained idea to not only brainwash Callie but also her as well) and got brainwashed by a second pair of hypnoshades that Octavia made (though she didn't quite go down without a fight, Octavia can attest to that)

Agent 3 (Paige) was too busy on a separate mission to go looking for Meggy much to their frustration so Marie recruiting Harbor as Agent 4 came in clutch and also Mario coming along because of course he does which both makes things easier but also more complicated

However during the final battle around the time Marie and Sheldon came barging in the platform Meggy was on ended up collapsing and she fell into the abyss below much to Mario's and everyone else's horror

Fast forward a couple weeks and after hundreds of dead ends and countless sleepless nights, the NSS were finally able to find a lead to where Meggy ended up (and also got confirmation that she still lives thank god, Paige cried a lot at the news out of relief) and so Cuttlefish and Agent 3 are off without hesitation to search for Agent 3's sister in the Metro

Meanwhile Meggy has been Sanitised by Commander Tartar who found her unconscious in the subway, and is currently accompanying Cuttlefish, 8, Desti and The Octoposse who are all stuck in this medical nightmare hell hole because of course and all (well except cuttlefish) of them are missing their memories

Cuttlefish is really worried how 3 will react to their sister being well, green now and zombie like

However despite being sanitised, partially emotionless and amnesiac she is still technically Meggy so sparks still fly between her and Desti much to the others chagrin

At least it makes solving the puzzles easier (especially the 8 ball thank GOD)

The plot of octo expansion stays relatively the same albeit with more people and a more chaotic group chat

They all end up having to team up against a partially sanitised Paige who is somehow stronger than in canon which is terrifying, and it took everything to knock them out

When the boss fight with the giant statue and Tartar happens (who wants to blow up the world because it's gone insane and so has he from the meme energy) Meggy, Desti and the Octoposse jump in the assist 8 in inking the statue to high heaven

Sanitised Meggy is basically a watered down version of canon Meggy having her emotions and memories stripped from her, she still has the desire to win splatfest ofc but she doesn't quite have the drive that made her want her to, and this deeply scares Paige and Mario

A couple years have passed since the incident and Meggy is MOSTLY back to her old self, still a bit amnesiac and lacks the reaction speed for certain emotions but better now

Then she gets fuzzified by Mr. Grizz

Meggy started to work at Grizzco. Via the suggestion of Harbor because she felt self conscious about how she looks during turf wars now cause well she looks like a zombie and it went pretty well for about 3 years

Harbor did a total fuck up and Meggy not wanting him to get fired ended up taking the fall for him

unfortunately this ended up with Mr. Grizz fucking up her back a bit, kidnapping her and then getting fuzzified which FINE

and somewhere during that struggle Meggy ends up in the Splatlands an FAR from Grizzco. and ends up running into Andi and being found thankfully by Cuttlefish

unfortunately they all soon end up falling into Alterna but hey at least she reunited with the others!

Okay okay I see what ya want! I know the perfectly mentally stable Callie au I haven't talked about yet! (TW for delusions. I have done mild research on this subject, but not enough that I can claim this is in any way accurate. Do not take this au as accurate to real life delusions) Also gotta credit @eikaprime for a lot of these details, she's evil and you should read everything she creates because they are all awesome :)

Callie is the sole news host of inkopolis news. She never had a cousin. For splatfests, she brings in two co-stars to choose which side they want. These guest celebrities can be popular bands, idols from other areas, or brand models! Then, one day, a splatfest starts. Callie says she has a 'very special' guest today. The camera pans away for a second, and then pans back to...Callie. Wearing a mustache, and her hair swoop the opposite direction. She's clearly trying not to smile and failing, creating a half smile. This is 'Marie', Callie's 'Cousin'. She actually ends up becoming popular, popular enough that her persona is ironed out, made to look more unique and real, even though most people understand its just Callie with a different hairstyle and some makeup. Then the final fest rolls around. Callie laughs when she finds out the two sides. 'sure, I'll write some self burns'. And then she loses. To MARIE. To someone who doesn't even exist. She's fine. It's just a silly competition. Yet Marie is still in demand while Callie falls out of it. Marie sponsors brands, Marie guest stars on shows. Not Callie. Some of Marie's fans think she's even a real person, now. And then Craig and Three go on their mission. and Callie is left alone. ... Four spots a white haired woman by a grate. She waves them over, and they follow. "I'm Marie Cuttlefish", she says, and Four looks confused, because Marie Cuttlefish isn't real. She assumes Four just hasn't heard of her and moves on. Callie Cuttlefish recently went missing, though, along with the Zapfish, so Four is dubbed that name and helps 'Marie'. When Marie tells Four that her cousin, Callie, is missing. It's sort of true. The Zapfish is rescued, but Callie isn't there. Luckily, Agent 3 and Captain Cuttlefish are there! They can help!

But they keep on calling her Callie. And they ask if she's alright. Because Marie was never a real person, and Callie is right in front of them.

My Splatoon Idol Ocs- Synthetic Cephalopods!

Amph- octoling (coconut octopus)- 20- Charger Born underground Best friends with Marin, idolizes mariana Only has one working eye- changes with her ink color

She loves all types of technology and science, but prefers singing and lyric making. Loves listening to Synth music but not good at making it herself. Looks very intimidating and has major rbf, but is really nice once talking to her. Doesn't really display her emotions but has been trying to be more expressive after becoming an idol. Mostly just comes off as shy though. Was born middle class in the underground of octo city. She was always very good in the intelligence aspect of the army, but was very frail and weak. She had to be on the field once but she didn't have the proper training or equipment, and her eye got shot. She was always treated as less then and we never wanted for anything on any fields. When all the octolings started leaving she took it as her chance and left as well. On the surface she looked for something to do to cover her eye when she came across recreational battling. She heard people singing on streets and she did the same, that being how she was making money. She saved enough money for a splatterscope and did really well. She was so happy to finally not be holding her team back. As she was singing one time, Marin found her. She loved her singing and showed her one of her tracks. This is how they became friends.

Marin- inkling- 19- Octobrush Born In a very urban city a while away. Best friends with Amph, Looks up to the Squid sisters. Was on team order despite it being one of her first splatfests. Loves anyalizing reading and literature, but cant for the life of them write it herself. Is super expressive, almost as if she was born to be an idol. Is great at managing her excitement and anger and making it appealing to an audience, despite her actually having a short temper in real life and also being kind of sarcastic. Still deeply cares for her friends and family though.

Was born in a big city but it was very neat. She always stood out for her very unique clothing growing up. She became obsessed with the squid sisters and wanted to be musicians like them. She experimented with music a lot and then later got really good at synthesizing. She loved composing songs and was able to get lyrics but she never picked up by herself. She heard Amph singing and begged her to do a song with her. After promising she would pay her, Amph agreed. They ended up working together and became best friends. She inspired her to get out more and eventually they picked up traction.

After their debuet song, Electric waves, came out, they decided to make more music, and name themselves the Synthetic Cephalopods. or Synth-pods for short. They made many more songs like Ink ceiling, Electric waves, Psychic squids, Delta energy, and Honorary tidels. They also have decent solo careers, with their main songs being, Amph solo- Missing perspective, and Marin solo- Better with you.

I'm a little sad that almost a year in Splatoon 3 still feels like a lesser game than 2. A lot of this is Octo Expansion raising the bar for atmosphere, storytelling, and character development such that 3's story mode going back to being 1 and 2 was always going to be a letdown. I'm troubled that we know basically nothing about Deep Cut except bandits, big Marie fans, and that Frye has some kind of ADHD going on after watching Pearl and Marina get developed into compelling characters on their own, but maybe that just needs time.

BUT. 3's other problem is splatfests. Some of this is coding/matchmaking, in that you can get mirror matches for a majority of a fest and, it turns out, be on a minority team. Money recently won the popular vote, but I tracked my matches and half of all my open/pro matches were love/love mirrors and fully 2/3rds of all tricolors I was in were love/love/love, so it should be no wonder that people are claiming a rigged result. I don't think it's rigging, I think Nintendo has bad netcode and trying to leverage it for a three-way fest model is producing a lot of negative results. It's always more reasonable to assume incompetence over malfeasance.

Tri-Color itself is also a problem. The Zelda fest was the best so far, in my opinion, because the devs made substantial changes to the map for it instead of shoehorning a 2-sided map for a three-way match. This makes tricolors sometimes very frustrating and, honestly, FAR inferior to the old Shifty Stations, which both kept things fresh and interesting during a fest that could otherwise become boring AND were built around the gimmick. The late-2 shifties were amazing. The ones that progressively locked you out of parts of the map solved Turf War's biggest weakness, in that it made the whole match count and not the last 30 seconds.

So, where do we go from here? Hopes/suggestions:

- Side Order needs to be more like Octo Expansion in terms of storytelling, atmosphere, character development. The trailer certainly seems to suggest that, but it needs to be said.

- Tricolor should be made part of the regular fest rotation when three teams are available, otherwise you get a non-mirrored 1v1 match. This would a) Make Tricolor special and b) Make Fests feel less like meaningless effort.

- Either:

Tricolor maps need to become more different from their base maps. Right now Tricolor always feels like a worse version of the base game.

OR

Bring back Shifty Stations. They really made the 2 Fests worth playing as much of as you could, a supposed to today where I grind to Ruler, make sure I got enough catalog levels to finish before the season ends, and tap out so as not to do more mirror matches.

- More frequent updates. I know that the season model is what other big games do but honestly I miss the occasional random new weapon/item cropping up. Right now there's no reason to go to the shops anymore.

- More character content. We know you have the power to do this, Nintendo. You've got a team that loves to do little bits of lore and world building wherever they can. Add more dialogue for your idols! Tell us more about splat bands! Why is Paruko working retail???

-Final, wishlist item: more song variety during Fests. It would be amazing if there were, like, an actual setlist on rotation in splatsville.

Actually here are my pairings for the agents:

Agent 3 Prima x Agent 8a Vanessa

Prima comes from a long line of fighters that fight alongside the New Squidbeak Splatoon! She's the current representative of their family in the current generation.

Vanessa is the granddaughter of DJ Octavio, the runaway princess of the army. Her mother is also a warrior princess, who remained in the army in search of her missing daughter.

Their families are against each other, but the two seemed to have found a common trust since their resolve after their clash. They seemed to have ended generations' worth of their family's disputes.

CURRENT STATUS: They're still close friends! Since both of them seem very focused on their jobs as agents, it's not sure if they'll get together anytime soon but the mutual feeling seems to be blossoming there.

Agent 4 Terry x Agent 8b Nate

Terry is a farm boy from a rural town a few hours away from Inkopolis! The youngest of a family of five siblings, he has the tendency to have childlike joys and find comfort expressing them.

Nate is a former worker in the weapons development sector in the Octarian army. He seems to find joy in adorable things! This is unusual in the army, so he used not to be too open in it until he got out of it.

They both seem to come from humble backgrounds relative to their origins. Terry comes from a quiet, simple family in the countryside while Nate isn't really a recognised Octoling in the army. Terry is a pacifist and Nate was never really a frontliner in the army.

CURRENT STATUS: Together! They had already been getting along very well due to their mutual soft personalities, then they finally sealed the deal when they teamed up together in one Splatfest under Big Man's team (Gear Grub Fun).

The other agents have non-agent love interests!

Agent 7 Kane x Tierra (Agent 4's sister)

Kane is a former fighter in the Octarian army. Strong and swift, he used to be a martial arts instructor for the army and would be often seen sparring with his best friend, the Octo Samurai. He also used to be Vanessa's personal trainer til the events of Octo Expansion happened that separated them for a year or two.

Tierra is Terry's older sister! She works as an elementary teacher in Splatsville, after she had moved out from their town to explore the world outside of its comfort.

Both are teachers in their 30's! Kane is around mid 30's and Tierra is in her early 30's. They seem to share common struggles about their profession, and are both in the aroace spectrum!

CURRENT STATUS: Getting there! They are also career-oriented, but they've grown past their 30's to move onto stable relationships if they felt like it. They're taking a lot of time to establish a deep emotional connection before they actually delve into a relationship, though!

Neo Agent 3 Ezra x Rivette (a Splatlandian mechanic)

Ezra is a mysterious young man, secretive of his own origins. All that people know is that he traveled with his little buddy, Masu, and that he's not afraid to let people know he used to be an assassin and a bounty hunter. Beyond that, he lets nobody know where he came from.

Rivette is a young lady who was one of the first inhabitants of Splatsville! She was one of the people that Ezra first met. She develops weapons for her friends, and seems to have taken a liking to studying the new weapons and put her own twists on them.

The two seem to come from completely different backgrounds: Ezra doesn't even talk about his family, and Rivette still lives with her family in Splatsville. One is a fighter, and the other a weapon development enthusiast.

CURRENT STATUS: Seemingly one-sided. Ezra doesn't seem to be interested in a relationship at the moment, and is more than content with his little buddy. Rivette enjoys his company and seems to be developing feelings for him, but chooses not to act on them until she feels Ezra is comfortable with it. She does always choose Ezra's team for Splatfests though.

I think people took this splatfest WAY too seriously because of the final splatfests historically deciding themes for the next game (or at least it seems that way), and that gave the idea that this idol themed splatfest is a fight for the fate of Splat 3's next HUGE content update or the next installment. I'm sure in whatever Splat 3 DLC or future game where Big Man and Frye inevitably go missing and/or become the big bad's minions, they're not being killed off! They're definetly gonna get better, and they'll show up in the end, or this splatfest could ultimately not affect anything at all!

Next up on the Reboot List, here we have is one of my very First SMG4 OCs from back then and even the Love Interest for Desti in my AU, Ruth (A Purple Inkling). Ruth is an Inkling from Inkopolis who works at a Fast Food Restaurant in Inkopolis and is the Best Friend later Girlfriend to Desti. She is rather very Kind, Naïve, Shy, and Timid but she also has Autism, being the Kind-Hearted Girl, Ruth is always curious about things in life as she often tries her best to fit in with everyone else. In her life, she started out as an Orphan for she never really knew her Parents and once grew up in an Orphanage until when she was adopted at the age of Six by an Anthro Narwhal named "Nigel" who took her in along with his other foster children as Ruth grew up in a Small Adopted Family of Antihomophobic Sea Creatures. Later on in a Few Years, at an Adult Age (when she was around 20), she tried to find a Job somewhere in Inkopolis just so that She and her own Family can pay money but no matter on how hard she tried, everything that she tried to work at failed. But that is until when she instantly spotted Desti (who turned out to be alive) washed up on the shore on the Beach, Ruth was shocked to see a washed up person at the shore so she help taking Desti in back to her home where she did gave the Octoling Girl some shelter with the help of her own Adopted Brothers and Father Figure. While Desti was staying at Ruth's place in the City, she realized on how long she was gone ever since she actually survived her death (considering that she only had Two Hearts left to live for within her chest) and that Meggy already won Splatfest for Her. Because Desti missed out on everything for the fact that she had been stuck on an Island, she decides to head out on Mushroom City to see Meggy and her Friends again with the help of Ruth as they travel through the Mushroom State. When Desti finally got to reunite the Gang after all these years, Meggy was shocked yet touched on how that her Former Arch-Rival turned out to be Alive for all these Years and still has only Two Hearts left to life ever since she lost the Third One to Francis back at the Anime Island. Throughout a Few Days during the stay in the Mushroom Kingdom, Ruth got to hang out with the Gang including Meggy considering that Desti and Ruth had a long journey to find Desti's Friends. Eventually, while Desti and Meggy were hanging out, Ruth was always with them considering that she was the Third Wheel in their Platonic Relationship since she knew who and heard on who Meggy was. But strangely enough, it took time for Ruth to develop feelings for Desti since she somehow ended up having a crush a Her especially when she helped Desti out. Desti even took Ruth to the Beach where they were at a Outside Party and even looked at the stars in the Sky around near the Ocean for Desti thanking Ruth to help her find the Gang, Ruth never really told on how much she liked her since she was too shy and nervous but began to have deep feelings for her even after when sheltering her life since the Two got to know each other during their stay in the Mushroom Palace (though Desti's Family was deeply unaware for what they didn't know was that their own Daughter was still alive). However, when bad things started to come out of nowhere as an Evil Professor Scientist (by the name, Dr. Von Grumbell) wants to have all of the Inklings and Octolings' Ink Power to produce more Ink in his own Ink Pens to sell Money. When Ruth fell for the Evil Scientist's trap, she was kidnapped by the Professor as Meggy and her Friends helped Desti to rescue Ruth from the Mad Scientist. After a few random hijinks through the Professor's Lair, Ruth was about to be pursued to the machine to have all of her Ink be sucked up until when Desti and the Gang bust out, they ended up having a battle against the Professor as Luigi and Tari had to help Ruth out for her own Ink wasn't sucked all out while she was in there since the Professor didn't start the Machine yet. When Von Grumbell found out about Ruth's escape, he instantly captured Desti and threw her into the Machine where all of her own Octoling Ink was pursing into the drops of creating Pink Paint. Because this really upsetted Meggy which gave her all of the flashbacks, she instantly fought Dr. Von Grumbell through their last battle when Von Grumbell was finally defeated but Desti was completely transforming into a different kind of new species that instantly made both the Machine and the Professor's lair explode. Luckily, Ruth and the Gang did managed to make it out alive but Lennie on the other hand rescued Desti as she was wrapped in his Coils for it was revealed that Desti gain a New Form just like Meggy (A Human). Making the Crew in complete shocked for what they have seen, they couldn't believe it in their own Eyes that Desti was now a Human as she woke up and found herself in a New Species like Meggy. Meggy and Ruth were happy for Desti that she was still alive for the Crew were relief. Ruth and Desti return to Inkopolis for Desti's Biological Family (The Takowasas) were extremely happy in tears to see their Daughter still alive and okay after all these years since the Two Hearts of Desti were now conjoined into One Heart making her full fledged human after having all of her Ink being taken away through the Machine. Desti's Father (DJ Octavio) forgives Meggy and the Gang and even thanks them for bringing his Daughter back. It was then that only for now on, Desti would now have to live in her own apartment like Meggy for she would often would visit her Family in Octo Valley for she now dates Ruth after when Ruth confessed her own feelings for Desti as the Purple Inkling and the Now Human Octarian Princess were now officially lovers (even Ruth herself finally got a new job from her own Foster Family). ok. quick splatfest post before i finally get some sleep

played aaaaalll the way to ruler +2 this time. usually i stop at ruler and last time was the only time i got to +1. but with maybe less than a year's worth of splatfests to get 10x wins for those badges (idk what they were thinking starting that so late), i want to try to get in as many chances as possible (the last one will probably boost the odds like final fest, but i don't want to rely too much on that. plus i want to go back to exclusively doing triclor in the second half asap)

won 3 more 10x! puts me at 4 out of the 10 for the badges. there were also a few more where we were kicking ass up until the end when they turned it around and we ended up losing by a few percent. this happened annoyingly often, even in regular turf

also, tricolor? this was the first time defending sucked for me as much as people were saying it did when the game came out. they really screwed up this stage. it was alright with attacking but in defending it was soooo easy to get spawncamped. attacking was still fun but it got to the point where i dreaded getting defending and almost didnt want to try when i saw it come up. which is a first for me

at least the upside was this meant i didn't feel like i was missing out by spending time in bicolor turf to try for 10x battles, like in the last fest

saw a lot of really aggressive ghosts teams though. like the worst ive ever seen. they were acting like they were trying to kill me in real life or something

as for zombies, on my way to ruler, aside from the time there was an early dc and it was a draw, i fought them literally just one time

my very first tricolor was against the other two teams, and i had a handful more that also weren't mirrors (the vast majority were), but i didn't see them in bicolor again, just ghosts. definitely seems like they lost popularity significantly

By the demand of one singular person, I'm gonna show my Splatoon ocs. I currently have four with a possible fifth in the making who is unrelated to the others. I also have a couple other Octo idol ocs (Consortium, I've talked a bit ab them before), but this isn't about them today.

The story centers around Milo, an Octoling who escaped Octo Valley upon hearing Calamari Inkantation, leaving her family behind. Her original goal was to end up in Inkopolis, but somehow ended up in Splatsville in the middle of a Splatfest instead, where she hunkered down in the lobby to sleep and ate solely from the food stand off of totally not stolen food tickets. She was discovered watching Deep Cut's performance by an Inkling called Coral and an Octoling called Blessing, who take her in on a whim. They take Milo to do Turf Wars and Tricolour Battles but she's so shit at it that she made a name for herself by failing so hard. People said it was bad luck for her be on their team. But Milo is actually quite good at Tableturf Battles, in fact she's surprisingly good. She eventually becomes one of the top players. She gains a lot of confidence after discovering this.

A little afterwards, Milo goes missing as she's dragged to Alterna to fight against HR enemy Mr Grizz and is barely able to beat him and Deep Cut by a hair's margin. She struggled to beat DJ Octavio dammit. Her friends were concerned deeply, but were torn because they couldn't prove that she went missing, only that she possibly ditched them. The only proof that she didn't was the stuff left in the lobby guarded by the food stand attendant and the few items she stuffed into Coral and Blessing's lockers. When she finally comes back with Deep Cut in tow, Milo and her two friends celebrate her not being dead and Coral offers for Milo to stay in her apartment. They will the party into a moving in party.

Milo and a few alternative outfits. These are a few months old but still hold up, really. It's technically redesigns of the first iteration of the characters from back in like October or November. Milo eventually becomes interested romantically in Coral but is too shy to put a name to it. They're in the constant crush phase no matter how old they get. Milo's bit timid and very down on herself at first, but she gets a bit of a pick-me-up after a style change, Alterna, and finding something she's good at.

She also works Grizzco shifts, but prefers to stay in Coral's apartment as basically her housewife. She has more time to herself and is able to enjoy the small bits of peace from within the epicentre of Splatsville while Coral is off being an elite in Splatzones and Anarchy as well as getting her own education and work shifts done. Blessing accompanies her often as he's more on the calmer side, and even though he's considered one of the best Rainmaker/Splatzones/Anarchy players, he's barely hanging on by a thread lol. The three contribute to a little indie band that makes narrative focused rock and punk music, though a little on the tamer side for the sake of Milo, whose going half-deaf.

Coral, the bubbly, athletic friend who kinda just schlorped Milo into her tiny friend group. Shes very sweet if a bit pushy, but she means well. Coral obsessed with most of the bands seen in Splatoon, though has more of a focus on thrilling, fast paced music she can train to. Coral balances out both Blessing's calmness and Milo's low confidence twofold and she's needed to keep the energy in the group. Coral is actually an orphan so she rent an apartment every month and eventually pays for a studio near Inkblot Art Academy, which is where she attends school for the arts. She always finds herself injured and has at least two pairs of knee/arm guards on her plus whatever medical equipment she needs to patch herself up.

Blessing is a kind of misunderstood rich kid. His parents own a very popular fashion brand and he wants to follow in their footsteps, so he interns in Man O Wardrobe. To others, it makes him come off as a snobby rich boy who thinks he knows and dresses better than everyone else, but it's quite the contrary. He's a humble man with a very generous attitude, and he refuses to be a nepo baby. He wants to work his way up to the top instead of it being handed to him because it means he's worked hard. He also attends Inkblot Art Academy but for fashion design and textiles. His biggest achievement is winning a major competition for fashion design and having it remade by a popular clothing brand.

Blessing also has a little sister named Shoal who illegally modifies weapons in their basement. She's abrasive and stand-offish but takes after her brother in that she's a sweetheart. Just very passionate about her choice in Deep Cut idols is all.

And this is actually the only page I have for Argol, who is Blessing's boyfriend and eventual husband. A flirty man is Argol and is very smooth with his words, which usually gets him places, including with Blessing. He's Gnarly Eddy's little brother and him and Blessing met as children when his brother babysat the two as he was a family friend of Blessing's. They met again truly when Blessing started his intern work in Gnarly Eddy's shop before he moved on and work with Jel La Fleur. Argol works as a mechanic and engineer, which means he dresses in this sick sleek outfit. But also by means of being brothers, Argol helps out around Naut Cotoure every now and again. He doesn't have arms or legs or feet, just his little tentacle things buched together for mostly style, which doesn't help the fact that he's got chronic pain.

📃what is the plot of your hyperfixation? and is it a movie, game, show, etc?

splatoon is a whole franchise! it has games, merch and manga! there's two splatoon manga series, one is the squid kid comedy show and the other is made by sankichi hinodeya and its more popular! that manga is also called coroika cause it was released through the corocoro magazine! :D

imma just sum up the plot of the games + the octo expansion so far haha

so basically in the first game, after the great turf war, the great zapfish that powers inkopolis has been stolen by the octarians and their leader, dj octavio and an inkling known as agent 3 of the new squidbeak splatoon is recruited by cap'n cuttlefish and they have to infiltrate octo valley, the octarian's base and rescue the zapfish.

in the second game, it's been 2 years since final callie vs marie splatfest in splat1 and while cap'n cuttlefish and agent 3 are on vactation, callie and great zapfish that powers inkopolis square goes missing. so agent 4 is recruited by marie to go look for callie and the zapfish.

the octo expansion is the "vacation" agent 3 and cuttlefish are on. agent 3 battled an octoling and it somehow lead the octoling and cap'n cuttlefish to an abandoned station that is run by kamabo corp in the deepsea metro. the octoling is given the name of agent 8 and with the help of pearl, marina and agent 3, they try to escape the facility.

in the third game, it's been 5 whole years since the chaos vs order final splatfest ended. the playable character, who is either an inkling or an octoling, along with their lil smallfry salmonid buddy is recruited by cap'n cuttlefish into the new squidbeak splatoon as the brand new agent 3! the old agent 3 (who i'll call captain 3) is now the captain cause cuttlefish retired from that position and passed it down to them. the majority of splat3's story mode takes place in alterna, a location beneath the crater. agent 3, along with the help of captain 3, callie and marie help them in finding cuttlefish since he went missing shortly after agent 3 was recruited.

my fave scene in splatoon? tbh, its a tie between deep cut's intro scene in splatoon 3 and the scene in octo expansion where pearl pulled out the princess canon and yelled so loud it saved the world. those scenes are literally my fave scenes in the entire franchise haha.

as the spicy vs sweet vs sour splatfest goes on, I gotta tell a funny story, it has a good end but a warning because it involves leaving a toxic friendship.

A year ago, before discovering we were a system, we were doing pretty rough in a friendship we weren't happy with. One thing we enjoyed though, was splatoon and we played splatoon with that toxic friend (let's call them Tox for fun). In a previous post one of us mentioned different headmates using different mains.

Back in Splatoon 2, our old main host used the hero roller replica. But they couldn't deal with Tox making fun of them for how they played by themselves forever. So someone else fronted, or co fronted, I don't really know which. All I know is that we didn't know what was going on that day. This new fronter decided to try a new weapon, undercover brella. And they were good with it!

And that upset Tox, badly. It was a private match, so it didn't really matter (Tox was just testing a new weapon for how it inked) and they lost. They forced us to play again but with our roller, just so they could "get revenge". (yes they called it revenge, and they were not joking)

That made all of us avoid the brella. For almost a year. Even when playing splatoon without them. Even when splatoon 3 came out. One bad part is that Tox threatened to not interact with us if we used the brella, so that'd probably the big reason for our aversion of it.

A lot happened in this year of being stuck with this toxic friend, but it can be triggering so I'll keep it short: Tox forced us from our closest friend and denied our problems and interests. Ended up with alot of trauma from it, but we're trying to heal.

Later, we finally got back in touch with the friend Tox kept us from. This kind friend is someone we've known for years, even see them as family. And they helped us figure out we were a system, they really are a great friend. They treat us so much better than the toxic one.

Now the brella is a main for a lot of us.

When the world premiere splatfest happened, we played it with the kind friend. And now we play splatoon 3 with them too! One day, when playing splatoon 3 with the kind friend, a headmate decided to try the undercover brella. This headmate hated how Tox treated us so they enjoyed the brella (this same member is the one who wrote the other splatoon post).

Last night, the kind friend and I decided to play the splatfest. We laughed about what Tox missed out on by being a bad person to both of us. Even discussed how that made us feel. For the first time in over a year, we felt like we were safe to be open about ourselves.

The point of this is that things get better. A year ago we'd have thought things were fine dispite being miserable. A year later, we're here, alive, knowing more about ourselves, and more happy than we were.

It gets better, and I never would have thought I'd be in a moment to say that.

2, 3, 24 for video game asks!

2 (first console): my family's wii ! i remember going with the whole family to pick one up at target (black wii with wii sports bundled in), i will never ever let it go, i still play it to this day n i owe it everything for getting me into video games as i am now

3 (game that holds a special place in my heart): easy . deltarune, krtdl and splatoon2 . deltarune gave me sweet capn cakes . deltarune literally reworked my brain . i guess more specifically ch 2 but the whole game is so so important to me . krtdl, the first non family-shared game i played after renting it from our local blockbuster (I MISS YOU GIRL COME BACK), it got me into kirby all together n i'm so happy it did, and then splatoon2, i'd wanted to play splatoon for so long, i drew me and my 6th grade science teacher as inklings bc the first day of school i walked into her class with my splatoom shirt and she asked me happily which splatfest team i was on, n then happily told me hers . it was just such an experience getting to play something i'd dreamt of for so long and finally having it in my hands (rip my cartridge tho 😔)

24 (hardest boss fight i've ever faced): somewhat close tie between jevil on switch and inner agent 3, both are absolutely brutal your first few tries and then once you start noticing their patterns n how to bypass things things start getting easier . and then you die to their worst attack which is always near the end (autobomb rush for ia3 and the true and neo chaos for jevil)

Pre-Preparation of Shiver: Gone Clubbin'

On Friday I posted the first chapter in my latest Splatoon-themed fanfiction, "Splatoon: B-Mix." If you missed the post I made about that, you can check it out here:

However, one thing I feel stands out about this story in particular is that it's the first one I've written since jumping back into the Tumblr ecosystem (apparently just in time considering how Twitter is doing). Thus I was able to do some fashion research using various Tumblr posts to help design a custom outfit for Shiver!

In my previous Mariver ship fic, "Harmonic Frequencies," I played into the idea of Inkling fashion culture by having Marie change outfits in every chapter. By contrast, Shiver was more of a gremlin who stayed in their default fit the whole time. So this time around I decided to give the Octoling idol a custom clubbing/rave-type look to match [Spoilers] their incorrect assumption that Marie is taking them out dancing.

I primarily used two posts to inspire Shiver's clubbing look. First is an outfit posted by sleepyysweetheart:

The rough-cut black shorts with four silver buttons was taken pretty wholesale for my clubbing Shiver concept, specifically noting that you get right up to the edge of the Octoling's butt (it's a surprise tool that will help Marie later). I also lifted the fishnets that stretch out underneath the shorts, though describe them as having more "clawed-up" tears to match the style of their original leggings.

Next is a look by someone whose name I can't confirm, but was included as part of a "fashion studies" post based on Bloom from the animated series Winx Club. The collection was posted by rosecrystal, but it was specifically this outfit that caught my attention:

The crocheted shrug is what really drew my eye here, as it felt reminiscent of Shiver's usual shawl while offering something different; more loose and playful. I depicted Shiver's as being a dark purple color to fit better alongside the otherwise black outfit.

I also really liked the sheer fabric on this outfit, again reminiscent of Shiver's shawl, but I don't see them wearing traditional bras too often. Instead I gave them a black tube top in place of their usual sarashi cloth. Perhaps something in the same vein as what Octarian-aligned Octolings or the default female Agent 8 model might wear.

Definitely more simple than those designs. Replace the zippers and metal plates with sheer fabric running off the top, all the way down past their exposed stomach.

Finally, I had to bring back the boots from Shiver's chocolate Splatfest outfit to complete the look. It fits the vibe too well to be ignored, and it would be a shame if elements of this official promo were lost to time.

As far as accessories are concerned, I didn't imagine anything crazier than Shiver's usual three ear piercings. However, if you have any kind of ideas after seeing this, please feel free to share them!

Haven't had many chances to discuss more in-depth layouts for written details like custom outfits off the page, as social media platforms like Twitter are harder to dig deep with. But I'd certainly love to keep sharing design thoughts with y'all, since it's always a fun part of the creative process! Hopefully it can inspire some of your own work, too.
